| Personal Description: I am a 19 year old student of English and Creative Writing at the University of Birmingham. I am well spoken and well read, with a wide range of extra curricular interests, including playing the flute at a high level in a number of ensembles, taking part in dramatic and musical performance and productions, editing a University magazine, and dance. I was a very high achiever at school, receiving 6 A*, 6 A and 2 B grades at GCSE, and AABB at A-level, in English, Economics, Music and Maths respectively. If you wish to meet before booking a session, or to have a trial session, then please feel free to contact me with no obligation. Disclaimer: I am not qualified as a teacher beyond what is declared here. All references given are valid and true, but please be aware I am a University student. |
Teaching Experience: I have had experience teaching at all levels except A-level: I have undertaken work placements at a Nursery and Primary School, and taught in an inner-city Birmingham school as part of a Government supported placement. In school, as an A-level student I was a student-tutor, running revision groups for pupils on my year in both English and Economics. I travelled to Venice to tutor a bi-lingual brother and sister, who attend school in Englanh, in July 2008. The boy has severe dyslexia and the girl was working towards her 11 + Exam. We managed to keep the momentum of work going with the boy over summer, working in ways adapted to his needs, and the girl achieved places at her desired schools in February this year. |
Tutoring Approach: Very flexible. Entirely based on the pupils needs, or based on tried and tested methods. Creative and visual, with the opportunity for the tutee to have fun with learning. Homework help and tuition. |

| Personal Description: I am married and Iive with my wife and two daughters in Birmingham. We are Asian Indian and I can speak both English and Gujarati languages. Originally I am from Zanzibar, in the Indian Ocean, however, I am educated in UK and have lived in UK since 1981. I am well travelled in India, USA, Spain and East Africa. My hobbies are watching cinema and eating out. |
Teaching Experience: I am a newly qualified teacher in 2010, however, I am an enthusiastic expert in teaching theoretical physics up to pre-university level. In my spare time I run the pre-university physics blog on the internet. Goto to google and search for physicsxyz then visit my web site, there you can contact me directly. |
Tutoring Approach: The benefits of having a tutor can be numerous: * Improve your grades * Increase self confidence * Develop knowledge and understanding * Provide continuing support and advice * Exam preparation Learn in friendly and relaxed atmosphere at my residential address in the living room on leather sofas or if you prefer we can study on the dining room table. Adhere to an exam board syllabus or specification of your choice. Professional and enthusiastic tuition with wireless broadband internet access on site so you can bring your own laptop. Honest and frank advice. Payment for tuition required in advance of lesson in order to discourage absence. Set realistic targets to improve grades. Personal log book given to each student to keep track of progress. Provide monthly review. Student to provide his/her own stationary. Private tuition on a one-to-one basis or in a small group is clearly the most productive way to learn. Private tuition can be used help your child catch up after temporarily falling behind, to learn a subject outside the school environment, to stretch your child further or give closer attention to the needs of your child than is possible in a classroom environment. I can offer a number of benefits for your child, including raising levels of school performance, but also helping a child to increase their confidence, enjoyment and motivation in a subject. The extra focus and tailored attention of specialised one-to-one private tuition can be the decisive factor that will make the difference to successful learning and good exam grades, ensuring that you or your child is able to gain the most benefit from their mainstream educational activities and fulfil their academic potential. |

| Personal Description: I have a first degree in biochemistry and am a recent postgraduate in biological sciences from the University of Manchester. Hence I would be glad to have the opportunity to teach students in the field of biology. |
Teaching Experience: I have tutored students of A levels in the field of biology as a part of Manchester Access programme. As an academic tutor my role in MAP involved one to one interaction with students and helping them construct a university standard assignment. Apart from my teaching skills, my creative and computer skill were used to its best in this programme. |
Tutoring Approach: I believe private tutoring is all about polishing the areas which need improvement and hence I would stress more on such areas of a student apart from explaining the routine study material. Moreover, I would also judge whether the student has understood the stuff I explain by regularly examining him/her by 5-10 minutes test prior to every alternate session. |

| Personal Description: I will be in Argentina for the month of February and will not be able to tutor in person. I am from Newcastle Upon Tyne but moved to Birmingham to study European Studies and French at Aston University. After graduating I decided to stay in Birmingham. I am interested in movies - especially Spanish and French, reading, photography as well as current affairs. |
Teaching Experience: During my university degree I spent a year living in Dunkirk, France where I taught adults both business and general English. At the same time I also tutored some children from a nearby school. |
Tutoring Approach: Tutoring is really something that needs to be enjoyable. It's not like other jobs and why should it be? At the same time it is something I take seriously. I am more than willing to accomodate needs whether they be for an education, for an exam or for pleasure. |

| Personal Description: UK educated IT professional with a Ph.D in numerical simulation of 3D crack problems using weight function techniques. Over the years I have worked in various industries such as nuclear, CAD/CAM/CAE modelling and most recently in the investment banking world as a senior systems support analyst. I have spent nearly 14 years working in Tokyo, Japan. I have a strong engineering background and possess ample knowledge to teach mathematics (pure & applied) and physics up to 'A' level and beyond. Further, I have programming knowledge in various computer languages such as Fortran, Excel VBA, C, and C++. I want to pursue what I enjoy the most, which is teaching kids/students/adults. I am highly motivated individual, and have a very friendly character. |
Teaching Experience: 2004 to 2005 Part time Private Tutor (Member of Personal Tutors) Taught English, Mathematics (pure & applied), Physics and Mechanics at various levels, from elementary to pre-university level (A Level). Student ages ranged from 5yrs to 21yrs old. I also taught English and Math's to a special needs 5yr old boy. |
Tutoring Approach: My approach to teaching is based upon focusing attention on the basic principles of the topic. I strongly believe if the basics is understood then the rest fits together like a puzzle. I believe once should only move to higher levels in any topic once the fundamental is understood. Whenever I teach I like to give as many examples as possible. I also like to challenge students by throwing in difficult problems to make them aware how one should think in order to solve them. This kind of mental simulation is lacking in to days education. |

| Personal Description: I am a professional actor with experience of stage and television. I have had my fair share of auditions (good and bad!) and I understand how nerves and stress can hinder success with drama examinations and auditions. I'm very passionate about the theatre and I'm a great believer that the theatre is for everyone. |
Teaching Experience: Along with Theatre In Education work, in the past I have been employed by The British Museum to perform plays and workshops on Greek Theatre. |
Tutoring Approach: A relaxed but focused approach with a stress on vocal technique. The tutorial will be centred around a tutee's particular need, whether that be an exam, audition or a best man speech. |
