Personal Description:
I graduated from the University of Birmingham in 2001 with a 2:1 in French Studies. During my 3rd year I lived in Montreal where I studied French, Spanish and Italian at McGill University. After graduating I qualified as a Teacher of English as a Second Language and spent the next few years Teaching English in the UK and Paris as well as travelling to Spain where I lived for three months.
In 2004 to 2005 I took a PGCE in Modern Foreign Languages (French and Spanish) at The University of Bath. From 2005 to 2006 I taught in a variety of Primary and Secondary Schools before taking a permanent post at Matravers School in Wiltshire where I worked for five years, gaining internal promotion to Second in Department in 2010. During my time at the school I taught classes from Key Stage 3 to Key Stage 5 (ages 11-18) and prepared students for both GCSE and AS Level Exams, getting good results as can be testified in my reference.
I also lead trips to both Paris and Barcelona to give students a taste of life in these countries and an opportunity to practise their language skills in real life situations.
Since 2011 I have been working as a freelance Language Tutor and Translator as well as completing Teaching contracts with reputable language schools Kaplan International and OISE in central London. I also work for AQA marking French GCSE Writing Papers. I am currently studying for a Masters Degree in Technical and Specialised Translation at The University of Westminster in Central London.

Teaching Experience:

I have five years experience of teaching French and Spanish in Secondary School and an additional two years teaching English as a Second Language. I also work as an examiner for both the Edexcel and AQA exam boards marking the French GCSE Writing Component. I have been working as a private tutor for two years.

Tutoring Approach:

I believe a positive working relationship between tutor and student is the cornerstone of successful learning. I aim to make my students feel at ease and safe to take risks and build their confidence which in turn lead to learning success. Personal Description:
With a high first class degree in Physics from the University of York, for over three years now I have given tuition in Mathematics and Physics for all qualifications up to and including A Level as well as the Sciences to GCSE.

Teaching Experience:

After various school placements, including teaching in St Aidan's Harrogate (ranked among the highest achieving comprehensive schools in the country), I have helped a multitude of pupils ranging from as young as 8 through to mature students. I have experience of teaching AQA, Edexcel and OCR board syllabuses including IGCSE as well as Pre-U. I am happy to offer tuition for all other syllabuses as well, for example WJEC, the International Baccalaureate (IB) and for free-standing maths qualifications.
Additionally, I offer tuition to adults wanting to improve their maths understanding and skills, for example to help with their career or to pass QTS skills tests etc.
Students and parents have offered positive feedback from the results attained after my tuition including a great improvement in their grade and confidence. For example, a student's grade in A Level Physics improved from originally an E to an A after my tuition, while others attend their preferred schools after help with revision for their entrance exams.
I have helped several students with Asperger Syndrome, those with dyslexia and students who are home-schooled or had to move school due to behavioural difficulties or medical conditions. Additionally, I have had training for and taught students who did not live with their biological parents.

Tutoring Approach:

I find I can relate to students in a calm and patient manner and I have enjoyed helping them through difficulties with their subjects. I endeavour to find and solve the problems students have in their understanding to give them a firmer grasp of the topic, with the benefits from this being increased confidence and improved results.

I believe that learning should always be interesting to the pupil - inspirational even - and that the onus is on the teacher to make this the case. Approach to tutoring:
I use questioning and relaxed assessment during tutorials to find weakness, misconceptions and gaps in a students knowledge. I then use a wide range of resources to give my students a solid understanding of the subject matter. Students will be set questions to do outside of tutorials which we review in later sessions, this allows us to focus on exam techniques.

How online tutoring works:
I tutor online over Skype using a graphics tablet which acts as an interactive white board so I can draw and write directly on the student's screen. Teaching Experience:

With one-to-one tuition, my students make excellent progress. For several years I have tutored through school programmes and today I tutor a range of students in preparation for Maths and Science GCSEs and A-Levels. In that time I have always been highly respected by my students and they have achieved at or above their target grades in both GCSE and A-Level.

Working in a comprehensive school I taught a full spectrum of ages and abilities, ranging from students with basic reading and writing skills up to extremely gifted A2 level students applying to Oxbridge.
