Personal Description:
I graduated from the University of Birmingham in 2001 with a 2:1 in French Studies. During my 3rd year I lived in Montreal where I studied French, Spanish and Italian at McGill University. After graduating I qualified as a Teacher of English as a Second Language and spent the next few years Teaching English in the UK and Paris as well as travelling to Spain where I lived for three months.
In 2004 to 2005 I took a PGCE in Modern Foreign Languages (French and Spanish) at The University of Bath. From 2005 to 2006 I taught in a variety of Primary and Secondary Schools before taking a permanent post at Matravers School in Wiltshire where I worked for five years, gaining internal promotion to Second in Department in 2010. During my time at the school I taught classes from Key Stage 3 to Key Stage 5 (ages 11-18) and prepared students for both GCSE and AS Level Exams, getting good results as can be testified in my reference.
I also lead trips to both Paris and Barcelona to give students a taste of life in these countries and an opportunity to practise their language skills in real life situations.
Since 2011 I have been working as a freelance Language Tutor and Translator as well as completing Teaching contracts with reputable language schools Kaplan International and OISE in central London. I also work for AQA marking French GCSE Writing Papers. I am currently studying for a Masters Degree in Technical and Specialised Translation at The University of Westminster in Central London.

Teaching Experience:

I have five years experience of teaching French and Spanish in Secondary School and an additional two years teaching English as a Second Language. I also work as an examiner for both the Edexcel and AQA exam boards marking the French GCSE Writing Component. I have been working as a private tutor for two years.

Tutoring Approach:

I believe a positive working relationship between tutor and student is the cornerstone of successful learning. I aim to make my students feel at ease and safe to take risks and build their confidence which in turn lead to learning success. I tailor-make lessons to each individual student's learning needs and preferences so that the student is always at the centre of the learning process. I use a range of materials in my teaching including online resources, worksheets, games, speaking activities and past exam papers where appropriate.

Personal Description:
With a high first class degree in Physics from the University of York, for over three years now I have given tuition in Mathematics and Physics for all qualifications up to and including A Level as well as the Sciences to GCSE.

Teaching Experience:

After various school placements, including teaching in St Aidan's Harrogate (ranked among the highest achieving comprehensive schools in the country), I have helped a multitude of pupils ranging from as young as 8 through to mature students. I have experience of teaching AQA, Edexcel and OCR board syllabuses including IGCSE as well as Pre-U. I am happy to offer tuition for all other syllabuses as well, for example WJEC, the International Baccalaureate (IB) and for free-standing maths qualifications.
Additionally, I offer tuition to adults wanting to improve their maths understanding and skills, for example to help with their career or to pass QTS skills tests etc.
Students and parents have offered positive feedback from the results attained after my tuition including a great improvement in their grade and confidence. For example, a student's grade in A Level Physics improved from originally an E to an A after my tuition, while others attend their preferred schools after help with revision for their entrance exams.
I have helped several students with Asperger Syndrome, those with dyslexia and students who are home-schooled or had to move school due to behavioural difficulties or medical conditions. Additionally, I have had training for and taught students who did not live with their biological parents.

Tutoring Approach:

I find I can relate to students in a calm and patient manner and I have enjoyed helping them through difficulties with their subjects. I endeavour to find and solve the problems students have in their understanding to give them a firmer grasp of the topic, with the benefits from this being increased confidence and improved results.

Personal Description:
I am an accountant by profession (FCCA) but my main passion is inspiring children to become achievers! I am friendly, professional and can relate to children in a very exceptional way - through humour, understanding and teamwork.

Teaching Experience:

I have been a Maths Tutor for over 8 years. All my students have developed a love for Maths. Once the student has been taught the basic foundations and then realises that that there are several methods to use to solve a problem and finds one to suit them, they find Maths a challenging game and it becomes fun and rewarding. I have significantly raised students' grades.

Tutoring Approach:

I became a tutor because I believe that, by teaching a child how to focus and be interested in something as important as education, they can achieve the satisfaction and pride in obtaining very high grades. The experience teaches them a very valuable lesson in life: anything is possible with hard work and if your attitude is attuned to enjoyable, it's not work! It's just getting to where you want to be.

Personal Description:
I am a TEFL teacher with a university degree (Music) and am from London. In my day job I work in a music company. I also teach English to foreign students in London, having worked for 2 years in British Council accredited language schools both in London and Portugal. I am a very friendly person and really enjoy teaching any age group.

Teaching Experience:

I have taught TEFL in language schools for two years, and have given private tuition in English and in Music for 9 years for all levels of learners. I have taught English at all levels from Beginner to Advanced, plus Business English and conversation classes. I have taught children as young as 6, all the way up to adults, and vary my teaching method according to the age group I am working with.

I have a Music degree and play and teach the Recorder, as well as giving lessons in music Theory. I used to work for the Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music in the syllabus department, so have great insider knowledge about music exams. Additionally, I also used to mark Theory papers, so know what examiners are looking for.

Tutoring Approach:

I try to be as learner-centred as possible in my teaching. First I will conduct a needs analysis to assess a potential student's level and to identify the areas in which they would like to improve and their preferred learning methods. I encourage my students to actively participate in my lessons - it will not just be me talking. I aim to make lessons fun and engaging, as I believe that students learn more when they are interested in the material given.

Personal Description:
I have worked in education all my adult life, and ten years ago embarked upon a freelance career which has enabled me to focus on the kind of work I love, and to spend more time with my family, and do the things I most enjoy.

As an English graduate, my greatest passion is literature. I read a wide range of novels, drama and poetry. Authors I have recently enjoyed include Ian McEwan, Philip Pullman, Helen Dunmore, Kazuo Ishiguro... too many to mention!

I spend a lot of time writing and completed a six month course in novel writing with the Faber Academy on which I was delighted to be offered a place. I have had a number of articles and short stories published, and am working on my first novel.

Teaching Experience:

My first job was teaching English to young speakers of other languages during the summer vacations when I was at University - many years ago!

After I graduated in English I qualified as a teacher. My first full-time post was in a sixth-form college, where I taught English at a variety of levels to A-level and University entrance. After two further full-time teaching posts in a 14-19 secondary school and another sixth-form college, I moved into Adult and Community Education. During much of this time I also took on a number of part-time posts, tutoring English, English to Speakers of other Languages, Creative Writing and General Studies in a university extra-mural department, the Workers Education Association and in a number of prisons. I served on the English A-level set books committee of a national examinations board, and have worked as a part-time examiner.

For the past ten years I have been working as a freelance education consultant, trainer and writer. Much of my education consultancy and training work has involved facilitating and coaching young people and professionals in a variety of contexts and a range of subject areas such as communication skills, business writing skills and writing for the media.

Tutoring Approach:

I offer distance and online tutoring, using Skype, telephone and email. When I am working with students in this way I provide them with extensive and constructive feedback on their written work, enabling them to understand how they can improve their coursework and achieve the skills and confidence necessary to write succinct and relevant essays required for examinations. Many of the students whom I have supported have achieved top grades in GCSEs, A-levels and degrees.

I firmly believe that we only learn effectively when we find the learning experience interesting, relevant and meaningful. My first priority is to endeavour to ensure that my students are having that kind of experience! I also believe that learning should be enjoyable and fun. Sometimes, of course, learning is about studying things we are not so interested in just to get through an exam - a means to a hopefully more enjoyable end. In that case I help students to find the most effective ways for them to do just that - and hope that even this might be enjoyable too!

I do not believe that good teaching is about pouring knowledge into students, but is about drawing learning out of them and supporting them to teach themselves. We all have huge areas of strength, skill and wisdom, and I always try to enable students to recognise theirs and to develop them to their fullest potential.

PLEASE NOTE THAT I WILL NOT WRITE STUDENTS' ESSAYS FOR THEM, WHICH I HAVE SOMETIMES BEEN ASKED TO DO!

Personal Description:
I have a broad knowledge of texts, and am well qualified to meet the curricular needs of any pupil. I have marked Standard Grade folio and Higher Critical essay for the SQA for many years, and Higher Folio for the last 4 years, so am well versed in expected pupil standards.
I would also like to say, at this point, that the reason I prefer pupils to come to my home is because I do not drive and I have lots of materials at home.

Teaching Experience:

I have been teaching English at all levels, from 1st-6th years, for 22 years.
I have also been tutoring for 10/11 years and in last years (2013) exams I saw all my tutees pass Higher despite some of them only coming to me after having failed their Prelim. All were ecstatic with their result and phoned to inform, and thank,me. This years results have been astounding as of my 8 tutees, 7 got A passes and one got a B. All came for the majority of the year and none were certainties for an A. Indeed 3 were struggling but worked extremely hard and got well deserved A's.

As well as new pupils for Higher last session ( 13/14) I also had several returning pupils,or siblings, from last year as my services as a tutor have been retained to now take them through the transition from Standard Grade/Int.2 to Higher. This has been a trend for me as tutees have always been happy with the lessons and my efforts in making them feel comfortable.

Tutoring Approach:

I am a well experienced tutor on a 1 to 1 and group basis. I have tutored at all Secondary levels and will support, and supplement, the teaching materials already provided by the pupils' schools. I will look over, and grade, work done by pupils in school and that set by me. In general, I will identify a pupils weakest areas and we will work hard on improving on that whilst "fine tuning" other areas.
As of the new Academic year 2014/15 National 5 and New Higher students will be catered for and I, myself, will be teaching it to my 4th and 5th year students. This will be a very challenging year for S4 as a lot has to be done in a shorter time as year 4, generally have 1 or 2 less teaching periods than year 5/6 yet they have the same work to cover. In addition they have more exams and work experience to cope with. An early start at this would be advised in order to get into folio as soon as possible.

Personal Description:
I'm a native, qualified - South American - Spanish tutor. I've worked and lived in the UK and South America for several years and I have studied up to degree level in the UK. I'm completely bilingual, this allows me to explain language issues to my pupils from both the English and Spanish angles.

Teaching Experience:

I'm a qualified Adult Education Tutor.
I passed my City and Guilds course for the Teaching diploma in adult education in 1999 and have been teaching in the corporate sector, in the public sector and to private pupils since then.
Clients have included Volkswagen, Gmac, O2, Transence and Inspire Change. In the government sector I have taught for MK Council, Surrey County Council, The Foreign Office, and the Police.

Tutoring Approach:

I concentrate on speaking and listening with some reading in class. Writing tasks are set for homework. I always find out what it is that the pupil wants to concentrate on: it could be just listening with comprehension tasks or just grammar with gap fills. That way the courses may meet individual needs. I usually agree a course plan at the start so that the pupil knows what's coming next for each lesson and we can change it if necessary as we go along. I explain what we're going to do, we do some role plays, some listening tasks. We use material from Pasos A First Course in Spanish. For the listening there is box ticking or answers to comprehension questions. At the end of a 20 hour course the learner should be able to get by in a Spanish speaking country, as a visitor, in the topics covered.

Im calm, patient and devoted.
I like punctuality and assiduity.
I love talking but I'm also a very good listener.

Teaching Experience:

I have several years of tuition and almost three years of class teaching experience.

Tutoring Approach:

I love to teach and I can make learning very simple. with my methods I can get my pupils to love learning.
In my opinion the most important task, which has to be the first thing any teacher should do, is to teach the pupils to love learning. I conquer their affections, earn their respect and expect they see me as a helping friend.
after this hard work is done, teaching is easy.

Personal Description:
I am currently a teacher of English in London secondary school, having qualified in Liverpool.

I previously worked part-time for an MP in Westminster as a researcher. I have varied interests, and later in my career intend to work in international development, especially surrounding the role of education.

My last degree, and MSc in Contemporary India, was a multidisciplinary social sciences degree, incorporating politics, economics, anthropology, international relations and statistics. My dissertation focused on English Language education and social aspiration.

In my spare time I enjoy training for athletics (middle distance and cross country), playing and listening to music, and cycling.

Teaching Experience:

I have gained my PGCE and have passed my NQT year. As well as developing myself as a teaching professional, I am working towards and MA in education to further explore barriers to learning and teaching styles.

I have taught English as a foreign language in India to degree-level students, formulating my own teaching materials. As part of my teaching, I included cultural and geographic content to help prepare students in rural and small town India for employment with multi-national companies.

I have also volunteered as a mentor with the Cardinal Hume Centre in Westminster, coaching young homeless and unemployed people with their English and ICT skills, job searching, and providing motivation.

Tutoring Approach:

I am an experienced tutor, having tutored students with specific needs such as History A-Level revision and essay writing support for university students. My tutoring will be tailored to the needs of the tutee, although at every opportunity I attempt to inspire and excite to engage my students beyond examination specifications.

As I intend to qualify as a full time teacher in the near future, I undertand the importance of preparation. When tutoring, I plan to listen to each student's needs and prepare appropriate assistance and guidance.

Having completed much revision for my degrees and A-levels, I can share my strategies to revise work previously covered, using time management and goals. If a student is able to guide their own learning, I will support and encourage this approach, aiding their independence.

Personal Description:
I am a native English speaker and have been studying languages for 20 years. I have travelled to many countries and experienced many cultures. I know speaking a language fluently is so important to enjoy new experiences. I have a Degree in Linguistics and have been trained in Teaching English as a Foreign Language (TEFL/TESOL). I have a variety of experiences in teaching, training and tutoring. Although I am originally from Australia I am now based in London. I have spent time learning Russian, Spanish and German, so I know how useful it is to have someone helping continuing to build vocabulary and correct language use. I also know how hard it can be to get started learning a new language. I will be sure to find out what you want to learn and how you enjoy learning the most.

Teaching Experience:

I have a Degree in Applied Linguistics and have been trained in Teaching English as a Foreign Language (TEFL/TESOL). I have a variety of experiences in teaching, training and tutoring in the workplace, in group and one-to-one sessions with both adults and children. Although I am originally from Australia I am now based in London. I have spent time learning Russian, Spanish and German, so I know how useful it is to have someone helping continuing to build vocabulary and correct language use. I also know how hard it can be to get started learning a new language.

Tutoring Approach:

My initial focus will be to spend time finding out what you want to learn and how you enjoy learning the most. My focus will be what you identify as needing help with, as well as giving feedback on how your language skills are progressing. I am most happy providing conversational English practice so that you can improve your skills in interacting with others, either at work, or study or even just travelling with greater ease. I am happy to provide exercises and tasks for you to work on as well as English conversation.
I am happy to meet you wherever is convenient - perhaps a local cafe or library. I can also tutor in my home or yours if that is easier. I am happy to tutor via Skype following a first meeting if travel is an issue.

Personal Description:
I have graduated with a first class degree in engineering from Oxford University. Throughout the course, I undertook a wide range of topics from maths and electronics to biomedical and aero-thermal engineering. Subsequently, I joined 'Entrepreneur First' - a government-backed programme to help exceptional graduates start businesses. I co-founded 'SpeakSet' - a business to help combat loneliness and isolation in old age. My strong grounding in maths and the sciences not only drives me to tutoring part time but genuinely excites me!
I am passionate about music and have played guitar, bass and sung in 4 bands at university. I enjoy recording, mixing and mastering and have been doing so for eight years. I have captained my college squash team and enjoy cricket. I have a keen interest in cars and have spent a summer working in 'McLaren Automotive' as a vehicle dynamics engineer.

Teaching Experience:

I have been tutoring through UK Tutors since summer 2012. I have plenty of experience in and regularly teach GCSE and A-Level Maths, Physics and Chemistry. Additionally, I have experience tutoring peers at university and relatives in Maths/Physics/Chemistry/Biology.

Tutoring Approach:

The best way to grasp a topic or concept is to break it down into its smallest components and gain a real understanding of the basics. In this way, it becomes easier to build up to the more complicated topics. This solid foundation doesn't just help with the problems at hand but helps to prepare for the long term too.
Exam technique is also crucial and so, we will spend time concentrating on how to approach papers.
I am always well prepared for lessons and feel that I make difficult topics stimulating and interesting.

Personal Description:
I am a mature man, a UK resident (10 years) from California.
I love what I do: helping people getting started with computers or mobile phones or showing them how to use the "online world" (safely) or teaching software applications such as SKYPE and Microsoft Office.
My first hour with you is free and after three hours I pay any UKtutors' fees for you. There is a discount for OAP and learners on benefits.

Teaching Experience:

I have been working in the computer field for 20 years and I have taught computer learning in many situations from creating my own public computer classrooms with drop-in and organised learning to formal business-based teaching in offices.
I have developed video tutorials for computer help desks and groups like charity organisations.
I have worked with users who need extra accessibility help due to vision or other related needs.

Tutoring Approach:

I have a friendly personable approach that works with most learners with you deciding how, what, when and how much you want to know. Because of my experience in many different settings I can quickly decide the best approach for you.
My tutoring is based around individuals needing simple help, but we can go much more 'in-depth' if that will help you. Perhaps you could share our time with a friend or arrangements can be made for social groups learning together during one of your meetings.

Personal Description:
I am a methodical and encouraging tutor, with a deep desire to translate my passion and learned skills in the field of mathematics to my tutees.

My primary school years were spent at St Martin's Preparatory School, my secondary school and sixth form years at the Haberdashers' Aske's Boys' School and this year I have graduated from university having read Actuarial Science and Mathematics. I have consistently attained top marks in Mathematics exams including grade A* in GCSE, grade A in A-Level and earning a gold award in the Senior Mathematics Challenge which is only achieved by the top 6-7% of entrants.

Despite me lacking in the years of experience held by elder tutors, I possess in my opinion a more beneficial strength in that I have very recent first hand exposure in preparing, undertaking and exceling in the UK education system Mathematics examinations. This gives me an edge as I can transfer methods I have utilised to succeed in these exams and have a greater ability to empathise with their specific learning needs.

Teaching Experience:

Tutored Mathematics to undergraduates during university and have built experience dealing with youngsters whilst volunteering at a children's blind school and aiding my younger sibling of age 9 with various homework.

Having graduated and now living back at home I am currently building a client base in Northwood specialising in tutoring school children in need of improved grades, help with exam preparation and a desire to develop their knowledge and understanding in the fascinating subject of Mathematics.

Tutoring Approach:

I tutor from home which is in a very convenient location for nearby schools, being just a 2 minute walk from St Helens School and also in close proximity to Northwood Underground station. I can also travel to you if you live in Northwood.

The first lesson will always involve understanding the intended aims of the lessons from the perspective of the students/parents whether it is improving grades, working through homework assignments or exam preparation, to allow for me to structure future classes appropriately. I will also gage what the current ability level of the student is.

I teach with the philosophy that to understand maths means being able to do maths and ultimately doing maths is being able to solve mathematical problems. With unique goals of the specific student in mind the lessons will be centred on firstly understanding the mathematical theory. Then the greatest proportion of the classes will be spent applying the knowledge and techniques learned on attempting problems whilst correcting errors and explaining areas of difficulty along the way. After guiding students through problems, similar problems will be repeated until the topic is understood thoroughly.

In addition to 1 to 1 tuition as per the prices quoted below, I also offer classes for groups of 2-4 students. The prices for these classes are as follows;

2 students -£25 per student per hour
3/4 students - £20 per student per hour

The classes should be self-organised and most preferably consist of friends from the same school studying the same syllabus. This is to ensure the presence of an engaging and cooperative learning environment. My reasons for offering small group learning sessions stem from an article I read which discusses its benefits for the students detailing how it provides for a forum in which students can raise issues others may not have considered, discuss ideas, deepen understanding by persuading others by the logic of their arguments (and the benefits continue)etc. Also from an economical perspective it is cheaper without sacrificing on the effectiveness of the learning experience, and more enjoyable for the children as they attend with their peers. I would highly recommend thinking about this option when considering tutoring for your child.

Personal Description:
I am a Maths/Physics Graduate with over six years experience tutoring Maths and Physics to A level, and all three Sciences to GCSE level. I am enthusiastic and committed to my student's learning, and I believe that with the right support they can gain confidence and achieve the results they would like. I enjoy working with my students and being a part of their progress and seeing them achieve good exam results. I am also a classical violinist in my spare time (If I get any!) and play with various local orchestras, e.g. the Enfield Chamber Orchestra.

Teaching Experience:

I have experience teaching most modules in A level Maths and Further Maths: Core 1 - 4, M1, M2, M3, M4, S1, S2, FP1, FP2 and D1, and tutoring students studying for all the major exam boards - Edexcel, OCR, OCR MEI and AQA. I also have experience teaching Physics A level for the following exam board syllabi: AQA, OCR A, OCR B and Edexcel. In addition I have experience in Teaching BEng Undergraduates at Middlesex University.
For GCSE level I have experience tutoring Higher and Foundation Tier in Maths and Sciences to students with differing abilities and learning styles, and to students with Special Educational Needs e.g. Dyslexia, Asperger's, Dyspraxia, ADHD and Dyscalcula. I have tutored Core, Additional and Further Modules (triple Science) for all Chemistry, Biology and Physics.

Tutoring Approach:

My approach is to consider each student individually and assess their needs through talking to them about their work so far, and to monitor their progress as they work with me. I will always work at a pace that suits each individual student, making the subjects interesting, fun and accessible for students so they will learn more easily and remember more. They will gain confidence as they progress far more this way. I am a good communicator and understand the many problems students face. Towards exam time we will go through all the past papers for that exam to give students extra confidence in exam technique

Personal Description:
As a teacher, you pass on not only the knowledge, but you own values of being a good person and your vision of the world. Every teacher could be different according to their age, gender, nationality or even silhouette, all I can say about how to develop a good teacher and student relationship is being true to yourself and to your students, show your true colour while putting yourself in pupil's position. And more importantly, never regard teaching as a career only helps you to make a living, but a passion and appreciation that only being a teacher or parent could provide you this opportunity to look at the sparkling eyes of your pupils reflecting their enthusiasm in getting to know this real world. Also, tutoring your children is not only spending time with your children, I request 1/5 of my teaching time to be with their parents.

Teaching Experience:

Parkson Group. (Dalian, China)
New Oriental School. (Shenyang, China)
Wordsworth Education. (Yantai, Weihai, China)
Gracemount High School. (Edinburgh, Scotland)

Tutoring Approach:

I am currently living 5 minutes away from the Scottish Parliament; I went to audit Education Committee whenever I got a chance. The CfE is under great criticism here like everything newly developed, but I fell in love with its purpose that encapsulated with the four capabilities that an educated human being should possess: a successful learner, a confident individual, a responsible citizen and an effective contributor. These are the concepts I cherish, and students love me because I am a people person and being genuine to each of them all the time.

Academically, please refer to 'about yourself' section, I provide the most efficient teaching approach, with the least time spent but the best outcomes. Learning a language should not be dull and time-consuming.
