Personal Description:
I'm an undergraduate student in my second year at Brasenose College, Oxford, currently reading Maths and Philosophy. I have A levels in Maths, Further Maths, Physics, English Lit and History.

Teaching Experience:

During term time I volunteer with the Oxford-based charity Jacari on a weekly basis, through which I give English lessons to a child who speaks English as a second language. During my A levels, I worked regularly with a GCSE maths class.

Tutoring Approach:

I'm fairly flexible in my approach to tutoring, as I feel it's important to be able to adapt to suit the needs of different students. The most important thing to remember when tutoring (particularly when tutoring maths or sciences) is to help pupils properly understand the topics they're studying rather than just making them learn things by rote, as this will enable them to attack new problems when they come across them (and also hopefully foster a greater appreciation of the subject).

Personal Description:
I graduated from the University of Birmingham in 2001 with a 2:1 in French Studies. During my 3rd year I lived in Montreal where I studied French, Spanish and Italian at McGill University. After graduating I qualified as a Teacher of English as a Second Language and spent the next few years Teaching English in the UK and Paris as well as travelling to Spain where I lived for three months.
In 2004 to 2005 I took a PGCE in Modern Foreign Languages (French and Spanish) at The University of Bath. From 2005 to 2006 I taught in a variety of Primary and Secondary Schools before taking a permanent post at Matravers School in Wiltshire where I worked for five years, gaining internal promotion to Second in Department in 2010. During my time at the school I taught classes from Key Stage 3 to Key Stage 5 (ages 11-18) and prepared students for both GCSE and AS Level Exams, getting good results as can be testified in my reference.
I also lead trips to both Paris and Barcelona to give students a taste of life in these countries and an opportunity to practise their language skills in real life situations.
Since 2011 I have been working as a freelance Language Tutor and Translator as well as completing Teaching contracts with reputable language schools Kaplan International and OISE in central London. I also work for AQA marking French GCSE Writing Papers. I am currently studying for a Masters Degree in Technical and Specialised Translation at The University of Westminster in Central London.

Teaching Experience:

I have five years experience of teaching French and Spanish in Secondary School and an additional two years teaching English as a Second Language. I also work as an examiner for both the Edexcel and AQA exam boards marking the French GCSE Writing Component. I have been working as a private tutor for two years.

Tutoring Approach:

I believe a positive working relationship between tutor and student is the cornerstone of successful learning. I aim to make my students feel at ease and safe to take risks and build their confidence which in turn lead to learning success. I tailor-make lessons to each individual student's learning needs and preferences so that the student is always at the centre of the learning process. I use a range of materials in my teaching including online resources, worksheets, games, speaking activities and past exam papers where appropriate.

Personal Description:
With a high first class degree in Physics from the University of York, for over three years now I have given tuition in Mathematics and Physics for all qualifications up to and including A Level as well as the Sciences to GCSE.

Teaching Experience:

After various school placements, including teaching in St Aidan's Harrogate (ranked among the highest achieving comprehensive schools in the country), I have helped a multitude of pupils ranging from as young as 8 through to mature students. I have experience of teaching AQA, Edexcel and OCR board syllabuses including IGCSE as well as Pre-U. I am happy to offer tuition for all other syllabuses as well, for example WJEC, the International Baccalaureate (IB) and for free-standing maths qualifications.
Additionally, I offer tuition to adults wanting to improve their maths understanding and skills, for example to help with their career or to pass QTS skills tests etc.
Students and parents have offered positive feedback from the results attained after my tuition including a great improvement in their grade and confidence. For example, a student's grade in A Level Physics improved from originally an E to an A after my tuition, while others attend their preferred schools after help with revision for their entrance exams.
I have helped several students with Asperger Syndrome, those with dyslexia and students who are home-schooled or had to move school due to behavioural difficulties or medical conditions. Additionally, I have had training for and taught students who did not live with their biological parents.

Tutoring Approach:

I find I can relate to students in a calm and patient manner and I have enjoyed helping them through difficulties with their subjects. I endeavour to find and solve the problems students have in their understanding to give them a firmer grasp of the topic, with the benefits from this being increased confidence and improved results.

Personal Description:
I am a professionally trained actor. I have written for numerous publications, with stories and poems published regularly. I am confident with public speaking, since I have been performing in diverse venues for nearly 10 years. I have an MA in Acting and an MA in Theatre & Performance Studies. I have professional training in elocution, pronunciation as well as accent and dialect work.

I am a keen footballer, and believe in the importance of keeping fit and eating healthily. I also love travel, gardening, fixing computers and watching and critiquing films and theatre.

Teaching Experience:

I have been working as a private Tutor since 2007, and am a member of a number of private tutoring companies. I have tutored in English Language, English Literature, Speech, Drama, Acting, Philosophy, Entrance Exams, and most primary subjects. I have tutored Students from all ages and abilities; including adults and teenagers, as well as younger pupils, and pupils with learning difficulties

From Aug 2009 to May 2010 I was a Learning Support Assistant, DeBeauvoir School, Hackney, London.

Main duties included ensuring that students with learning difficulties are both kept up to speed with the general classroom environment, and that this does not disrupt the other students.

Other duties include:
- To provide full time academic and pastoral support to individual learners with learning difficulties, and/or behavioural and social problems.
- To provide academic and pastoral support to all other learners when required.
- To encourage learners to pursue further academic or vocational education.
- To provide behavioural support in class and to teaching staff at all times.

July 2009 - August 2009 I was SEN Assistant at Kentish Town CE School, London

Main duties include ensuring that students with physical and/or cognitive complications are given the extra support they require within the general classroom environment, and that this does not disrupt the other students.

Jan 2009 - June 2009 I was a Cover Supervisor, Neat Education & Select Education, Sheffield

Responsibilities are that of a Supply Teacher, being responsible for the learning and conduct of a whole class of students. Maintaining discipline and focus as well as being at all times a strong leader and role model were essential at all times.

Other duties include:
- Academic and pastoral support to all other learners when required.
- Monitoring attendance of learners and set appropriate targets.
- Invigilating examinations and mark work.

Tutoring Approach:

I believe that Tutoring is first about personal connection. Any learning can only be achieved given a certain level of trust, which must be established in order to create a solid platform from which further learning can then flourish. Younger students are most open to absorbing information and should have the chance to take academic information and guidance from a range of people. This enhances the educational experiences and broadens the horizons of a student.

Having myself struggled with poor teachers, or unwieldy subject matter, I know that, with the right teachers, such areas can come alive. More clinical approaches to tutoring further separate students from the learning process. Having experienced one-to-one tuition myself, I have seen the many positives and potential pitfalls the system can bring. These experiences galvanize me and help me in my own tutoring. I relish taking what I have learnt, and the exciting methods by which I have learnt it, and passing that on to other students.

Regardless of the level taught, it is impossible to make real progress unless the student first has engagement and interest in the subject. I see my task as tutor as a process of invigorating the material for those studying.

Personal Description:
After qualifying as a teacher, following a degree in Psychology at Loughborough University and a P.G.C.E. at Nottingham Trent, I completed my QTS at a small primary school in East Sussex.
In 2004, I moved to Spain to pursue my passion of living and working in a foreign country and I taught in a British school teaching the National Curriculum to a mixture of English and non-English speaking children.
Returning to the UK in 2008, I lived near Kingston-Upon-Thames and worked at Holy Cross Prep. School.
Since leaving a full time teaching job to have children, I have been working as a private tutor.

Teaching Experience:

At Firle C. of E. School I taught a mixed class of Reception, Year 1 and Year 2. Although challenging, it showed me the importance of teaching to the individual child's needs.
During my 3 years at Holy Cross Prep. School I was a Year 2 class teacher. There was a high level of expectation for the academic achievement of the children. In my final year, an (ISI) inspection was carried out and the school was deemed to be 'outstanding'.
Over the past 4 years, I have tutored a number of children in numeracy and literacy from year 1 to year 6.

Tutoring Approach:

I have found that a balance of structured work and fun, interactive, educational games, all based on a clear learning objective, leads to the best improvement in understanding.
There is no charge for the first lesson as I find this is a good opportunity to meet each other and to learn about the particular areas where the additional support is required.

Personal Description:
I am a professional and dedicated native English teacher with years of experience behind me.

Teaching Experience:

I have gained TEFL experience within varied teaching roles, both abroad and in the UK. In my previous roles I have worked with children, teenagers, and adults in companies, schools, and summer camps. I have taught General English, Business English, and exam classes to groups and one-to-one students in school and business environments. I also have experience of teaching students with dyslexia. This variety has enabled me to continually assess my style of teaching and keep me on my toes!

Working in such roles has given me crucial insight into the needs of the student. I am extremely patient and understand the frustration that can arise when learning, whether it is a new language or subject. I realise that people acquire knowledge through varied means so I am keen to adjust my teaching style to benefit my students.

Tutoring Approach:

I believe a mature, responsible, and eclectic teaching approach, as well as a good sense of humour, is crucial for a successful learning environment.

I offer a custom-made service, whether you need to improve your general English skills, your writing, or simply build your confidence. I also have years of experience in teaching Business English and Exam English (IELTS/FCE/CAE). Whatever you need help with, I am happy to focus my lessons on what you require.

I offer Skype lessons and professional proofreading for people who may not be able to meet face-to-face.

I am available to tutor at your home, workplace, or in a quiet cafe in Cambridge. I can also tutor in Central London.

Personal Description:
Art and design has been the love of my life since early childhood. Being able to express oneself creatively and with imagination has always been my primary source of independence and happiness. Apart from that, i am also attentive to creative sparks and fires in the people around me, enjoying when the potential is given the chance to be fulfilled. Plus, i am thoughtful and hard working, with a light-hearted and empathic attitude towards people i work with. I am a bit of a connector, a bit of a maven, a bit of a geek and i always wear a sunscreen. I have studied Art and Design in Latvia and in London, have an Interior Design diploma and a degree in Product Design, strong drawing skills, sane knowledge of a range of arts materials, software skills and a spirit for safe experiments.

Teaching Experience:

Sustainable Opportunities Workshop 2011, in collaboration with British Council - designing the workshop and facilitating it.
Private arts tutor for life drawing and modeling, 2007-currently.
Learning Resources Assistant in University of Arts London, advising on materials and software (Adobe CS; Rhino; Solidworks for beginners) 2009-currently.
Arts tutor and group supervisor in Children Summer Camp, ages 6-16. 2007.

Tutoring Approach:

The best tutors in my life have been the strictest ones, with high demands and set standards. I have learned from them well and would aim for the same level of aspiration they have given me. But in addition, my strongest belief is that the best teacher is the one who understands the way his student works and learns and acts accordingly, being an inspirational teacher. Ages 6-99 can all benefit from expression through the different forms of art. First of all I would discuss the needs and desires of stakeholders and form a brief, which would include:
Desired outcomes
Program to reach them
Sourcing materials - what materials are needed
Timetable
Location

Then, we would be set for starting the learning and revealing the wonders of life and ourselves.

I have gained my knowledge and expertise from 5 universities of 4 different countries. I am currently a freelance geographer who takes very much effort to complete a doctoral dissertation for gaining PhD degree. I have been mainly researching in the field 'Geography of Energy', which subject in my interpretation bases on the synthesised physical and human geography (that includes physics, geology, geomorphology, hydrology, climatography, environmental and landscape geography, pollution science, biology, ecology and also settlement, industrial and social geography). I am able to perform and combine various geographical fields related to that. I have a prime addiction to Nature and to the outdoor environment that also includes the built environment and human settlements. I am currently a PhD aspirant at the Doctoral School of Earth Sciences at the University of Pécs in Hungary. During my years at University I was given the chance to gain experience as a lecturer; teaching subjects which included: renewable energy resources and world regional geography. My educational years have given me many benefits which include over 30 published articles and 10 books (editor and writer) mainly in Hungarian but also in English. I continue to educate myself as I have a genuine enthusiasm for my subject.

Geography has always been a hobby for me. In 2002, I decided to become a properly qualified geographer enabling me to maintain my hobby, as well as expanding my knowledge to a professional level. In the following 9 years, I successfully obtained a postgraduate degree (MSc) and was accepted to carry on to achieve the highest possible academic certification in Earth Sciences (PhD). This latter one is still on-going and I hope to complete it within a few years. Although, having the correct qualifications to be a geographer is important, being knowledgeable about the environment and having first-hand experience of the outdoors is perhaps more essential than having a degree. The world has to be seen and observed. Accordingly, I have been granted to undertake my studies in a handful of universities across Europe (Hungary, England, Slovenia and Croatia) and I have gained competitive geography knowledge and experience.

Teaching Experience:

Being a 'good' teacher is a subjective opinion that I cannot state about myself. I am experienced in a wide-range of teaching environments from primary/secondary school-aged pupils to adult/prison learning and higher education. People who have observed me teaching in the past have had positive criticism of my work and mentioned how efficient and encouraging my lessons and teaching methods are. In my opinion, to be a good teacher it is essential to be flexible with the environment you work in and have to have comprehensive knowledge both in outdoors and in classroom settings. You have to experience and observe the outside world for you to engage and maintain properly an enthusiastic class when teaching geography.

The qualifications and the reputation I have obtained in Geography are the results of an enthusiasm I have had since my childhood for this subject area and it is still part of my daily life that comes to life through my own business and its journal. Geography is not only my profession, but is also my hobby that is present in my life with all of its aspects, whether it be examining a piece of rock or talking about coffee beans, I can discuss both in an academic sense as well as out of personal interest. The diverse use of language therefore is important when encouraging others on geography and the key is to find a common interest between subject and receiver for them to understand and to be inspired by what they are learning. For example, when teaching in the prison, Mathematics combined with Geography suddenly becomes more interesting and therefore engaging.

Tutoring Approach:

For a researcher with a deep understanding about the Earth's mechanisms, Geography will always reserve a high number of mysteries. Research is the foundation for everything that is taught and this will always be exciting for me to do. But the implementation of this new knowledge may be challenging, that is why you have to keep thinking of new teaching methods to improve the quality of the subject that you are teaching. For this reason, it is essential to assist the younger generation for them to become capable to deal with geography related topics and issues. As originally a researcher with a non-British educational background and with a very colourful and diverse interest in Earth Sciences, I am able to shake things up. My aim is to develop people's knowledge, foster their understandings on geography and help them achieve the required goals set by the school/exam board which I hope will motivate them into using geographical knowledge in their daily lives.

Personal Description:
I have a First Class Honours degree in Maths from Bristol University and am a qualified Maths teacher with a PGCE from the Institute of Education. I have worked as a maths teacher in a secondary school for the past two years gaining experience in teaching students from ages 11-18 of wide ranging abilities (including very high achieving students as well as those with Special Educational Needs). I am also an experienced tutor with 5+ years experience of tutoring students for 11+, GCSE and A level.

I specialise in teaching AS and GCSE maths (in particular C1, C2 and S1), and was Maths A level Coordinator for my school's new sixth form. All my students met or exceeded their target grades in their summer exams. Maths A level teaching was highly commended by Ofsted in last year's inspection and individually my teaching was graded Outstanding.

Teaching Experience:

School A level Coordinator (1 Year)
Secondary School Maths Teacher, ages 11-18 (2 Years)
Tutor 11+, GCSE, A Level (5+ Years)

Tutoring Approach:

I understand the importance of adapting my teaching to suit the individual student to ensure they are encouraged and challenged. I have seen in many cases that low confidence can be a huge barrier to achievement and it is always my priority to build students' self esteem to help ensure they reach their potential. I also know that some students find it difficult to ask for help; I strongly encourage students to ask as many as questions as they have and I always take steps to ensure they have fully understood each topic.

My classes are structured to follow the national curriculum, using the latest specifications and teaching materials.

Personal Description:
I am a current Undergraduate student at 'St Bartholomew's and The Royal London Hospital School Of Medicine and Dentistry' studying Medicine.
I have A-Levels in Biology, Chemistry, Computing, Geography, Maths and General Studies.
I have completed the UKCAT (Medical Aptitude Test) and have Grade 7 LAMDA (Drama Qualification) with Merit.

I am friendly and am familiar with a variety of techniques of learning, so will always work my hardest for the best outcome for you, or your child. I will be contactable outside of lessons.

Teaching Experience:

I do not have much teaching experience, however I am very familiar with good techniques of communication and teaching.
As an individual who has spent many years in Education, I feel I know what works well, and what does not work well and the importance of tailoring teaching styles to an individual.
I have experience of working in Special Needs Schools and are therefore confident in a range of ways of communication, which I feel is necessary within teaching.

Tutoring Approach:

I feel lessons should be fun and relaxed, but must also follow a set agenda and cover all the topic necessary. The pupil and teacher need to feel comfortable, so that the pupil is confident to ask any questions and is not embarrassed by any difficulties they are facing.

I will ensure my lessons are fun and engaging, but throughout I will stress the importance of covering all required topics within our time slot.
