Personal Description:
I graduated from the University of Birmingham in 2001 with a 2:1 in French Studies. During my 3rd year I lived in Montreal where I studied French, Spanish and Italian at McGill University. After graduating I qualified as a Teacher of English as a Second Language and spent the next few years Teaching English in the UK and Paris as well as travelling to Spain where I lived for three months.
In 2004 to 2005 I took a PGCE in Modern Foreign Languages (French and Spanish) at The University of Bath. From 2005 to 2006 I taught in a variety of Primary and Secondary Schools before taking a permanent post at Matravers School in Wiltshire where I worked for five years, gaining internal promotion to Second in Department in 2010. During my time at the school I taught classes from Key Stage 3 to Key Stage 5 (ages 11-18) and prepared students for both GCSE and AS Level Exams, getting good results as can be testified in my reference.
I also lead trips to both Paris and Barcelona to give students a taste of life in these countries and an opportunity to practise their language skills in real life situations.
Since 2011 I have been working as a freelance Language Tutor and Translator as well as completing Teaching contracts with reputable language schools Kaplan International and OISE in central London. I also work for AQA marking French GCSE Writing Papers. I am currently studying for a Masters Degree in Technical and Specialised Translation at The University of Westminster in Central London.

Teaching Experience:

I have five years experience of teaching French and Spanish in Secondary School and an additional two years teaching English as a Second Language. I also work as an examiner for both the Edexcel and AQA exam boards marking the French GCSE Writing Component. I have been working as a private tutor for two years.

Tutoring Approach:

I believe a positive working relationship between tutor and student is the cornerstone of successful learning. I aim to make my students feel at ease and safe to take risks and build their confidence which in turn lead to learning success. I tailor-make lessons to each individual student's learning needs and preferences so that the student is always at the centre of the learning process. I use a range of materials in my teaching including online resources, worksheets, games, speaking activities and past exam papers where appropriate.

Personal Description:
With a high first class degree in Physics from the University of York, for over three years now I have given tuition in Mathematics and Physics for all qualifications up to and including A Level as well as the Sciences to GCSE.

Teaching Experience:

After various school placements, including teaching in St Aidan's Harrogate (ranked among the highest achieving comprehensive schools in the country), I have helped a multitude of pupils ranging from as young as 8 through to mature students. I have experience of teaching AQA, Edexcel and OCR board syllabuses including IGCSE as well as Pre-U. I am happy to offer tuition for all other syllabuses as well, for example WJEC, the International Baccalaureate (IB) and for free-standing maths qualifications.
Additionally, I offer tuition to adults wanting to improve their maths understanding and skills, for example to help with their career or to pass QTS skills tests etc.
Students and parents have offered positive feedback from the results attained after my tuition including a great improvement in their grade and confidence. For example, a student's grade in A Level Physics improved from originally an E to an A after my tuition, while others attend their preferred schools after help with revision for their entrance exams.
I have helped several students with Asperger Syndrome, those with dyslexia and students who are home-schooled or had to move school due to behavioural difficulties or medical conditions. Additionally, I have had training for and taught students who did not live with their biological parents.

Tutoring Approach:

I find I can relate to students in a calm and patient manner and I have enjoyed helping them through difficulties with their subjects. I endeavour to find and solve the problems students have in their understanding to give them a firmer grasp of the topic, with the benefits from this being increased confidence and improved results.

Personal Description:
I am a 32 year old tutor based in south east London. For the past twelve years I have been teaching pupils of all ages and abilities in many different capacities and have an excellent success rate with my pupils.

I also work with children with behavioural difficulties/learning disabilities and with adults of all ages and nationalities.

Should you wish to use me, you would encounter a tutor easy to relate to and learn from in an enjoyable and easy environment. I believe a student who is abler ease with their tutor is far more likely to progress no matter where they are starting from!

I hope very much to hear from you soon.

Teaching Experience:

St Bees School 1998-present: Various unpaid voluntary work. Drama work-shop leader on summer-camp. Directing, play-writing, and work-shopping school Junior & Senior plays
2002: Clementine School, Hong Kong EFL Teaching Assistant. Assisting head English language teacher
2002: Hong Kong Institute for young offenders. Spanish Teacher. Teaching basic Spanish to young non English speaking offenders prior to their exchange to Chile
2005-2006: Private Tuition (Ashtead, Surrey) Private tutor. Various pupils for Spanish, English Literature, Drama & English language
2006-Present: Southwark Council. Supply Teaching with 'Classroom' agency. Work with children from mainstream, secondary & primary PRUs and learning difficulty schools.
Private Tuition (Paddington) Private tutor
Government-funded scheme to increase literacy levels amongst primary school pupils
2006-Present: Private Tuition in in all subjects and age ranges offered throughout London.

Tutoring Approach:

I believe one to one private tuition requires a tutor who can adapt to the needs of the pupil.

I would wish to meet the pupil initially to establish how they may best be assisted and what the pupil's key areas of concern are.

In short, each mind, young or old, needs different approaches and I believe my strongest ability is an adaptability to meet the varying needs and requirements of every student.

My approach, in most cases would be to follow a curriculum, finding out where their difficulties lie within this curriculum and how it would be best to resolve them.

I tend to use past papers when it comes to exam based tuition as this is ultimately what they will be faced with come exam time! However, when I have a pupil for longer there is more scope for more imaginative teaching or simply assistance with difficult homework.

With each of my previous pupils I have needed and been able to assist them in a way that is individually appealing to them and I have never had a pupil who has not achieved their desired results.

Personal Description:
After reading English at the University of Cambridge I completed a masters at the University of London and now work as a tutor and also as a freelance theatre director. Most recently I have been working on a production for the Royal Shakespeare Company and teaching English and Drama to private students.

Teaching Experience:

I have been tutoring for the past five years and have a strong track record for helping students to achieve their desired grades and receive places at some of the top schools and universities in the country. Most of the students I have taught have been aged between 10 and 18, although I do also have experience teaching younger pupils and adults.
Further to private tutoring I have a great deal of experience in workshop leading and have taught groups at a wide variety of institutions including Sheffield Theatres, RSC, Malvern Theatres, NODA, the University of Cambridge, and Performance Industry Platform.

Tutoring Approach:

Although I always adapt my teaching methods to the particular needs of each student, the areas I mostly focus on include: sharpening critical and analytical skills; expanding students' vocabulary and understanding of literary terms; essay planning, structuring and writing; revision and examination techniques and building confidence. My own passion for literature and drama feeds into my teaching work and as well as aiming to help students achieve high standards in their academic studies, I also endeavour to encourage them to develop a long term interest in novels, poetry and plays. By tailoring my lessons to the individual student I hope to make each session engaging, enjoyable, and both creatively and intellectually stimulating.

Personal Description:
I am an experienced and enthusiastic tutor with a great love of languages, ancient and modern. I have two degrees: a BA from the University of Bristol taken in 1981, and then over 20 years later an MA from UCL. Both degrees contained a significant Classical language component and I am familiar with all the major authors. My first degree also included Italian and I have subsequently studied at the Istituto Italiano di Cultura in London.

Teaching Experience:

- Private tutor with a wealth of experience across all age groups - my students/tutees have ranged in age from 12 to 75. I have coached for exams (CE, GCSE, A level, university exams), with excellent results for my students, and I have tutored adult learners who have come to me for a variety of reasons: some relocating to Italy, others wanting to speak a bit of Italian on holiday, and some who fancy reading Virgil or Cicero in the original Latin.
- Tutor in adult education, currently teaching Italian, Latin, Ancient Greek and Roman History in West Sussex.
- Tutor at The London Summer School in Classics.
- Tutor at a leading university, taking undergraduate seminar classes.

Tutoring Approach:

The key to successful tutoring lies in tailoring the content of the classes to the student's needs and objectives. For GCSE, a rigorous approach may be required to ensure that grammar and vocabulary is assimilated, whereas an adult learner of Latin or Greek may want to progress quickly to adapted text, or with Italian, to be able to converse a little on holiday. Whatever the case, I think learning or revision should be fun, and I aim to make my lessons as enjoyable as possible, whilst keeping a close eye on exam deadlines!

Personal Description:
My name is Lisa and a recent graduate of the University of Strathclyde. I achieved a 2:1 Masters Degree in Physics. I have recently returned from a visit to CERN, which I organised in my role of Vice President of the Strathclyde Physics Society. I have also completed my STEMNET Ambassador application and have been accepted to volunteer in primary and secondary schools this year. I have a full Disclosure Scotland certificate, which allows me to work with children.
As a hobby I enjoy astronomy, and use my own telescope to study the sky.

Teaching Experience:

I tutored a school pupil last year in Maths for a period of 6 months. I have volunteered in a primary school class, helping out the class teacher on a casual basis. In addition when I was at school, I volunteered to help out the younger students in their physics classes. I felt this was beneficial to them, because sometimes they are more responsive to apparently difficult concepts if someone close the their age can help them.
I am a STEMNET Ambassador, which involves travelling to different schools to conduct experiments, help out the class teachers and generally show children that STEM subjects (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) are exciting and fulfilling.

Tutoring Approach:

I take a Student centred approach to tuition. I help on the areas that the student feels are necessary. I like to force the student to think of the bigger picture, rather than in the details. This is because I believe if the Why is answered then the How is much easier to understand. I try to make it entertaining and apply it the real life situations when possible. I am very patient, however I do expect personal study to be completed regularly, as practise is important when attempting Maths and Physics problems.

Personal Description:
I`m a Spanish Teacher (native speaker), my spanish: accent and pronunciation are easy to understand, very clear spanish (Mexico).
No complications, Let`s concentrate on more important aspects.

Be aware of cheap Spanish lessons with inexperienced and improvised tutors, being a native speaker do not make a good teacher. I can assure you, you will learn with me, all this based on teaching techniques, material and drama-method.

My background as an actress taught me to be very social and open minded.
I consider myself as a friendly person and easy going.
I like everything related to learning in general languages, knowledge about diferrent cultures, arts, world cinema, inspiring music, human behavior(Psychology), international food, travelling, yoga, cycling and especially theatre and dance.

Teaching Experience:

I have taught since 2004 in different subjects such as a Spanish, Theatre, Corporal Expression and Arts.
Along my teaching experience I have taught to different cultural institutions, languages schools, private tutoring, including primary, secondary, colleges, universities and cultural centres.

I worked as a teacher for CONACULTA and CONARTE (important government art and cultural institutions in Mexico) since 2004, where I gave various drama workshops/classes across Mexico. As a consequence of this, I obtained
-Recognition as Cultural Promoter and Theatre Teacher to Children.

I have also collaborated with the Mexican Secretary of Public Education, where I provided Primary School teachers with the essential techniques of teaching pupils in the classroom.
Another wonderful experience has been to work with university students teaching theatre classes, as well as planning final spectacles that we presented.

I been teaching Spanish (as a foreign language) in private lessons since 2007, proudly with effective results on my students. I have also worked with Chris Polatch Languages Courses and Elise Languages School.

Qualifications: Licentiate (MA) in Theatre Arts(2:1)
Recognition as Cultural Promoter and Theatre Teacher (National Council of Arts and Culture in Mexico).

LANGUAGES
• Spanish (native speaker)
• English
• Italian (working Knowledge)

Tutoring Approach:

I like to teach in a relax environment.
If you are a begginer, I will help you to learn all the basic, pronunciation, build up your vocabulary.
If you are a intermediate and advance we can work more on conversation and learn more complex structures of the language and conversational practice.
I advice my students to try and make mistakes, that is a principle to learn.

I also combine grammar excercises with listening and some other activities in the class.
And for children my technique is combine Drama and spanish to learn though different activities.

The material I use to our classes are 2 different books (don't worry they aren't expensive).
For children I use only 1 book.

Personal Description:
My career was spent in the computer industry and management consulting, mainly with Deloitte and Oracle.

Teaching Experience:

I have wide experience in private tutoring of Maths at GCSE and IGCSE Level. In the past year I have been giving 1-1 tuition to 15 students who attend schools in Tunbridge Wells and Tonbridge that use Edexcel and OCR Exam Boards. I have also given tuition to students who wish to refresh their "mental maths", gain a teaching qualification or gain entry to officer training in the Armed Services.

Tutoring Approach:

My approach depends partly on how near the Exam date is. If the date is some way away I will focus on teaching the topics the pupil identifies that they have difficulty with. In particular I like to go through what the pupil has been taught in class since my last tuition session to check that they understand it and can successfully tackle exam questions in the topic. As the exam date gets nearer I work through a checklist of every topic in the syllabus, and ensure I cover everything the pupil needs to understand to achieve their target Grade.

Personal Description:
I am a 2nd year Mathematics undergraduate at Imperial College London, firmly on target for a 1st class.

Below are my special interests whilst studying 'A' levels:
•Discovering alternative (to the textbook) viewpoints to explain physical phenomena.
•Completing proofs in mathematics textbooks (especially for the statistics modules).
•Sharing and contemplating these with peers and teachers!

I thoroughly enjoyed the process of deriving various formulae from first principles in order to remember them rather than purely memorising them as instructed by the textbook in many cases. Furthermore, I was even more excited when my peers(mostly juniors!) shared my stance when I shared my ideas. I am `dying` to share them with you!
(NB I am able to communicate in English and Mandarin. This might be helpful if you have linguistic issues.)

Hobbies: Reading (about mathematical/theoretical physics), badminton, running and swimming.

Teaching Experience:

•Demonstrating scientific experiments during school open days (2012-2013).
•Teaching my peers using derived mathematical proofs and alternative viewpoints in Physics as mentioned before.
•Summer Undergraduate Research Project on Networks and applications in Ecology at Department of Mathematics, Imperial College
(with presentations)

Tutoring Approach:

Wednesday afternoons and weekends.

Other times might be possible, please ask.

Personal Description:
I am an enthusiastic native speaker Italian teacher qualified at the Italian Cultural Institute of London with a TIAFL (Teaching Italian as a Foreign Language) certificate. Furthermore, I have attained a Master's degree (Distinction) in Italian Literature at University of Bologna gaining an excellent command of the Italian language and a deep insight into the culture.

Teaching Experience:

During the intensive teacher training course TIAFL 'Teaching Italian as a Foreign language' at the Italian Cultural Institute in London I have taught to students of different levels including complete beginners and intermediate, planning innovative lessons and creating activities with authentic material.
I am currently working with one-to-one tuitions with a more tailored approach adapted to the student's needs and expectations.

Tutoring Approach:

I love involving students into the 'Italian world': natural and artistic heritage, social customs and peculiarities.
In my professional experience as a teacher I have developed a communicative approach able to show short-term improvements in the students' speaking ability and competence.
My lessons are student-centred enabling the tutee to effectively practise the language in an active way.
The interest is stimulated through innovative and engaging activities such as games adapted to language learning as well as audio, video and visual material.
The grammar is instructed through an inductive approach to make the student able to understand the concept within a specific context, and pronunciation is facilitated with a focus on individual phonemes, stress and intonation.
This active and engaging approach is the perfect way to stimulate the students' interest and motivation in learning a new language.

Personal Description:
I am a second year student who is currently studying at the University of Greenwich and I study Chemistry BSc Hons. I am aspiring to be a Chemistry teacher in the future as I would love to share my passion and education with the generations below.

Teaching Experience:

I have taught at many tuition centers and I have been teaching from home for nearly two years. All my students have come away from my teaching with high grades and they have all eventually gotten into good London universities such as, The School of Economics and Political Science or Queen Mary University.

Tutoring Approach:

As I am currently a student, I work with other students very well as I understand the stress and pressure and help they need. I work by teaching them topics in the beginning but then I like all my students to gain a sense of independence when working as that's what they will need when they are in the exam. Many students make the mistake of learning from a textbook, word for word, when the key is understanding, that's what I give in every single subject I teach as that's what differentiates from the A grade students to the other students.

I also give the older students support and advice with their university applications and I also help with open days, I like to be more than a tutor, I like to be my students support so they can be the best they can be in their future work or education. At the end of the day 'If you can't explain it simply, you don't understand it well enough' - Albert Einstein.

Personal Description:
I'm a full-time maths tutor and have been tutoring since graduating university in 2004. I have always wanted to be a teacher, mainly because I have always been taught by bad ones when I was learning. However, I prefer tutoring as opposed to classroom teaching as I believe students can benefit so much more from this method.

Teaching Experience:

I have taught students from year 9 up to university level, all with different learning styles and requirements. I am also familiar with all three main exam boards AQA, Edexcel and OCR and have taught both Modular and Linear courses. I like to set homework to reinforce learning. Most of the work I get is from students studying towards their GCSEs or A-Levels but it is certainly not limited to this range.

Tutoring Approach:

When I was at University, everyone was always asking me how to solve a certain problem; not just because I was good at arriving at the solution, but because I could always explain the path to the solution much better than lecturers, and this is what inspired me to take it further. I know people find Maths difficult, but it helps a lot if you have someone show you the simplest methods and which help you understand what is going on.
I'm very friendly and believe that students should feel completely comfortable in asking me anything thay want, no matter how trivial it may seem

Personal Description:
Hello and welcome to my profile. I`ll describe my qualifications and work experience first and then write a bit about what subjects I can help you with. I live in Fife but am a short train ride from Edinburgh - where all the students actually live. I am often in this city so I propose that the tutoring take place there.

I have a 1st class honours degree in Electrical And Electronic Engineering and a PhD in microwave engineering.

I have worked as a researcher at two leading Universities, for a total of about four years, and looked into several disparate subjects including high speed digital electronics, applied electromagnetism, RF/Microwave circuits and particle accelerators. I have published many research papers in some top journals including ones for IEEE, Institute of Physics and Physical Review. I have often worked with undergraduate and postgraduate students and this was an aspect of my duties I particularly enjoyed as I found that there is something to be gained from one to one assistance that just cannot be replicated in lectures.

I can assist you, up to final year undergraduate and Masters level, in the following subjects: Maths, pretty much any electronics subject, electromagnetism and several basic physics subjects. Write to me for specialist topics, including as much detail as you can, and I`ll let you know if I feel competent to assist you. To give a few examples of specialist subjects I can tutor, I am familiar with: Computational Electromagnetics, Differential and Integral equation solving, Partial Differential Equations and Boundary Value Problems, Thermodynamics, RF circuit design and other subjects.

As a consequence of my work and studies, I have become highly computer literate and so can offer instruction in, for example, the use of Mathematica. Again, if you have some particular requirement, email me with as much detail as possible and I`ll let you know if I feel competent to assist.

I know it costs a bit of money to obtain contact details on UK Tutors so I offer the first lesson plus time for a chat completely free. I am also open to negotiation over fees etc if you have special requirements.

As part of my service, for students I tutor, I`ll do past exam papers, tutorial solutions etc for free.

Teaching Experience:

Much experience working with adult learner & undergraduate through to PhD students.

Tutoring Approach:

I'm the sort of person for whom no questions are off-limits or stupid. Ask me anything and I'll give you my best answer. If I don't know, I'll find out and tell you next time.
