Personal Description:
With a high first class degree in Physics from the University of York, for over three years now I have given tuition in Mathematics and Physics for all qualifications up to and including A Level as well as the Sciences to GCSE.

Teaching Experience:

After various school placements, including teaching in St Aidan's Harrogate (ranked among the highest achieving comprehensive schools in the country), I have helped a multitude of pupils ranging from as young as 8 through to mature students. I have experience of teaching AQA, Edexcel and OCR board syllabuses including IGCSE as well as Pre-U. I am happy to offer tuition for all other syllabuses as well, for example WJEC, the International Baccalaureate (IB) and for free-standing maths qualifications.
Additionally, I offer tuition to adults wanting to improve their maths understanding and skills, for example to help with their career or to pass QTS skills tests etc.
Students and parents have offered positive feedback from the results attained after my tuition including a great improvement in their grade and confidence. For example, a student's grade in A Level Physics improved from originally an E to an A after my tuition, while others attend their preferred schools after help with revision for their entrance exams.
I have helped several students with Asperger Syndrome, those with dyslexia and students who are home-schooled or had to move school due to behavioural difficulties or medical conditions. Additionally, I have had training for and taught students who did not live with their biological parents.

Tutoring Approach:

I find I can relate to students in a calm and patient manner and I have enjoyed helping them through difficulties with their subjects. I endeavour to find and solve the problems students have in their understanding to give them a firmer grasp of the topic, with the benefits from this being increased confidence and improved results.

Personal Description:
I'm an undergraduate student in my second year at Brasenose College, Oxford, currently reading Maths and Philosophy. I have A levels in Maths, Further Maths, Physics, English Lit and History.

Teaching Experience:

During term time I volunteer with the Oxford-based charity Jacari on a weekly basis, through which I give English lessons to a child who speaks English as a second language. During my A levels, I worked regularly with a GCSE maths class.

Tutoring Approach:

I'm fairly flexible in my approach to tutoring, as I feel it's important to be able to adapt to suit the needs of different students. The most important thing to remember when tutoring (particularly when tutoring maths or sciences) is to help pupils properly understand the topics they're studying rather than just making them learn things by rote, as this will enable them to attack new problems when they come across them (and also hopefully foster a greater appreciation of the subject).

Personal Description:
I graduated from the University of Birmingham in 2001 with a 2:1 in French Studies. During my 3rd year I lived in Montreal where I studied French, Spanish and Italian at McGill University. After graduating I qualified as a Teacher of English as a Second Language and spent the next few years Teaching English in the UK and Paris as well as travelling to Spain where I lived for three months.
In 2004 to 2005 I took a PGCE in Modern Foreign Languages (French and Spanish) at The University of Bath. I also lead trips to both Paris and Barcelona to give students a taste of life in these countries and an opportunity to practise their language skills in real life situations.
Since 2011 I have been working as a freelance Language Tutor and Translator as well as completing Teaching contracts with reputable language schools Kaplan International and OISE in central London. I also work for AQA marking French GCSE Writing Papers. I am currently studying for a Masters Degree in Technical and Specialised Translation at The University of Westminster in Central London.

My name is Daria and I am 25 years old. I was born in Russia, but left the country to attend the boarding school when i was 9 years old. I came back to enter medicine College in Russia, which I have graduated from age 16. In my experience, my first language class was when i was 4, which helped me tremendously to learn all aspects of the language quicker than any of my friends. I studied a degree on Translation and Interpreting so I have a good English and French. Two years ago, I ended my MA degree on Spanish language and culture which is mainly focused on teaching Spanish as a foreign language.

I really try to focus on a Communicative Method, I make sure grammar is learned but I do not focus on showing grammar as a separate subject which has to be learned by hard. I try to show real texts (news articles, stories, tales, etc) and once you are able to understand the vocabulary, you will notice how is grammar used in different contexts.
There is no sense of teaching a language without a real context, I try to avoid inventing sentences which have no meaning at all.

In case you wish to try different approaches, I have no inconvenience on adapting it to what you really want to do.
