Personal Description:
I graduated from the University of Birmingham in 2001 with a 2:1 in French Studies. During my 3rd year I lived in Montreal where I studied French, Spanish and Italian at McGill University. After graduating I qualified as a Teacher of English as a Second Language and spent the next few years Teaching English in the UK and Paris as well as travelling to Spain where I lived for three months.
In 2004 to 2005 I took a PGCE in Modern Foreign Languages (French and Spanish) at The University of Bath. From 2005 to 2006 I taught in a variety of Primary and Secondary Schools before taking a permanent post at Matravers School in Wiltshire where I worked for five years, gaining internal promotion to Second in Department in 2010. During my time at the school I taught classes from Key Stage 3 to Key Stage 5 (ages 11-18) and prepared students for both GCSE and AS Level Exams, getting good results as can be testified in my reference.
I also lead trips to both Paris and Barcelona to give students a taste of life in these countries and an opportunity to practise their language skills in real life situations.
Since 2011 I have been working as a freelance Language Tutor and Translator as well as completing Teaching contracts with reputable language schools Kaplan International and OISE in central London. I also work for AQA marking French GCSE Writing Papers. I am currently studying for a Masters Degree in Technical and Specialised Translation at The University of Westminster in Central London.

Teaching Experience:

I have five years experience of teaching French and Spanish in Secondary School and an additional two years teaching English as a Second Language. I also work as an examiner for both the Edexcel and AQA exam boards marking the French GCSE Writing Component. I have been working as a private tutor for two years.

Tutoring Approach:

I believe a positive working relationship between tutor and student is the cornerstone of successful learning. I aim to make my students feel at ease and safe to take risks and build their confidence which in turn lead to learning success. I tailor-make lessons to each individual student's learning needs and preferences so that the student is always at the centre of the learning process. Personal Description:
With a high first class degree in Physics from the University of York, for over three years now I have given tuition in Mathematics and Physics for all qualifications up to and including A Level as well as the Sciences to GCSE.

Teaching Experience:

After various school placements, including teaching in St Aidan's Harrogate (ranked among the highest achieving comprehensive schools in the country), I have helped a multitude of pupils ranging from as young as 8 through to mature students. I have experience of teaching AQA, Edexcel and OCR board syllabuses including IGCSE as well as Pre-U. I am happy to offer tuition for all other syllabuses as well, for example WJEC, the International Baccalaureate (IB) and for free-standing maths qualifications.
Additionally, I offer tuition to adults wanting to improve their maths understanding and skills, for example to help with their career or to pass QTS skills tests etc.
Students and parents have offered positive feedback from the results attained after my tuition including a great improvement in their grade and confidence. For example, a student's grade in A Level Physics improved from originally an E to an A after my tuition, while others attend their preferred schools after help with revision for their entrance exams.
I have helped several students with Asperger Syndrome, those with dyslexia and students who are home-schooled or had to move school due to behavioural difficulties or medical conditions. Additionally, I have had training for and taught students who did not live with their biological parents.

Tutoring Approach:

I find I can relate to students in a calm and patient manner and I have enjoyed helping them through difficulties with their subjects. I endeavour to find and solve the problems students have in their understanding to give them a firmer grasp of the topic, with the benefits from this being increased confidence and improved results.

This is twice the Welsh average which puts us at the top of tree. 67% A*,A or B in 2012 in my class.Three of my students have won the Institute of Physics prize for the highest A Level marks in Wales with several gaining 600/600. I have a Masters degree in Fine Art at Central Saint Martins (University of the Arts London), and gained a BA Distinction at the Academy of Art and Design in the leading university in China (Tsinghua University). I have been practicing sketching and painting for more than 15 years, and majored in painting in my undergraduate school. My work has achieved a number of successes, notably being collected by the top contemporary art museum in China (Beijing Today Art Museum), being sold at the Red T Art Gallery in Beijing and being exhibited in numerous galleries and exhibitions in both UK and China. I am also a native Mandarin speaker from Beijing. Hello I am a native French tutor. I not only teach French because it is my mother tongue but because I think it is a very beautiful and interesting language but also a difficult one to learn. I myself have had to learn two foreign languages, English and Spanish, and I know how difficult and frustrating it can get but I also know how rewarding it is when you make progress.

Teaching Experience:

I am now working as a French Assistant in WGSB in Watford with A-level students, my part being to help them prepare their oral exam. It is my second year in WGSB and I really enjoy the task. I have also worked for a French Language school giving daily 3 hours lessons to teenagers and younger children from around world who come to France to improve their knowledge of French. In Spain where I lived for 7 years I gave private French tutoring lessons mostly to Adults.

Tutoring Approach:

Languages are made of vocabulary, grammar rules and barbaric sounds you just cannot get to pronounce sometimes:). They also reflect and convey a culture and a way of life which should be a part of the learning, especially as it seems to me that those cultural elements are the ones which can actually make the learning easier and more varied. And finally but not least I think learning a language has to be playful and agreeable, otherwise you will unconsciously reject the language and progress will be made much more difficult. Learning about others and learning to communicate in a different language is a great experience. Try it:)

Personal Description:
Unlike many, who kind of drift into teaching, because they couldn`t think of a job they wanted to do, I made a change of career after 20 very successful years in the computing industry. I was doing very well developing computer software, but I wanted to do something which was a little more sociable than staring at a computer screen all day, and I felt that helping young people learn would be a worthwhile use of my time. So, teaching maths seemed like a good idea, especially as I`ve always enjoyed the subject. This is my main subject, though I also teach physics and chemistry.

As well as teaching I have published two maths books, available in hard-copy and kindle versions. One at GCSE level and another at A-level.

Teaching Experience:

My experience is a bit different from most UK teachers. Sure, I`m UK qualified and have taught in England, but I`ve also taught in New Zealand, Germany and Italy. For me (and for you) this is a huge plus, because the standard of teaching is better abroad. People mistakenly think that getting a teacher with years of UK experience is the best strategy. Nothing could be further from the truth! You will probably get someone with good behavioural management and admin skills, but it will be at the expense of their subject skills. I`ve taught across the entire 11 to 18 age range and at all abilities from struggling 11 year old students to top set 18 year old students. I`ve taught in all-boys schools, all-girls schools, mixed schools, FE and sixth form colleges. This has been at schools that get good results!

As well as A-Level, I`ve taught IB Diploma: at both Standard and Higher Levels (also Mathematical Studies). This has been mainly maths, but also some physics and chemistry. I`ve given intensive revision courses in Standard Level Mathematics, and Higher Level Mathematics, which were very well received. Once again, I would have to say that IB Diploma is more demanding than A-level - on both the student and the teacher.

So, whether you need help with Core, Further Maths, Mechanics, Statistics, or Decision Maths, I`ve got the recent experience teaching all of these. In addition to maths, I have recently tutored A-level physics and chemistry too.This has been across several exam boards: Edexcel, AQA and OCR.

For maths students,I can help you get the best out of your graphics calculator (all senior maths students should have one), which, despite what your school might tell you, is allowed and will give you an advantage in your exams. On this point, you might like to note that I have published a book about using the TI-Nspire, for those taking GCSE or IGCSE. And, I expect I will publish another one, for A-level and I.B. Diploma students, before too long.

Among the schools whose students I have recently tutored are: Dame Alice Owen`s School, Enfield County School, Enfield Grammar School, Highlands School, Princess Helena College, Southgate School, The Latymer School, The Royal Masonic School for Girls, and Woodhouse College.

I`m typically very informal and relaxed, which most students seem to appreciate.

When you come to me, you get to choose what you want help with. Unlike far too many tutors I won`t try to tell you what the lesson should be about, unless this is something you want me to do. Having completed my first degree in French and German at Oxford University last June, I am now in the final stages of an MA in medieval and early-modern history at Queen's University Belfast. Come September I shall be continuing at Queen's in order to undertake a part-time MA in translation.

Teaching Experience:

During the last two years of secondary school I gave frequent tuition sessions in French and German to younger students. At Oxford I gained two years' experience with Jacari, a charity that teaches English to local children of a different mother tongue. I spent my year abroad teaching English to pupils aged 10 to 19 at a German grammar school, and have since instructed a number of tutees of ages 8 to 65 in English Language, French, German and Italian.
