Personal Description:
I am a French native and have been living in England since 2006. I studied and obtained my French degree at University in France. I have also completed a course to teach French as a Foreign Language.

Teaching Experience:

I worked two years in Northampton School for Girls as a french Language Assistant. During and since this time, I have also provided French tuition through Language Schools and privately for students and adults.

Tutoring Approach:

I focus on the speaking for the students to be able to use the language effectively, while integrating grammar, vocabulary, writing and reading. I use all sorts of documents (images, dialogues, flash-cards,...), either on printed sheets or interactively. When appropriate, I like to use sound materials as it is a good way to get familiar with the sounds and intonations of the language.

Personal Description:
I am a hard working young lady who has graduated from university with A 2.1 HONORS. I currently work for Saint Gobain as a Business Development Manager. I have a positive out look on life and face every task with a high level of enthusiasm and effort.
I enjoy working with children as I enjoy the challenge and the atmosphere.

Teaching Experience:

I have been tutoring young children for the past seven years now whilst studying and working myself. My main age range is 4-16years

I have previously conpleted placements in primary schools and nurseries as part of my My qualification coursework which involved me analysing young children's behaviour.
I have also helped out in the brownies and in the Catholic youth club.

Tutoring Approach:

Every child has a different method of learning, however it is important they all know the basic set cirriculum. Thus I adapt my method of teaching to suit the child's abilities but ensure the correct knowledge is attained by the child.

Personal Description:
I offer Italian, French and English tuition at all levels, from complete beginners to highers and advanced.

I have a PhD in Modern Languages from La Sapienza University of Rome, Italy (2000), where I studied English as a main subject with French and Italian.

After graduation I spent a long time working in France before relocating to Scotland where I have been teaching Italian, English and French for the past 10 years.

I have students of various age and nationality, both children and adults. I am PVG checked.

I frequently go back to France and Italy in order to keep up-to-date with the language.

Teaching Experience:

University of Aberdeen

Tutoring Approach:

I think that learning a new language is an experience and it should be fun.

I am committed to delivering high quality tuition by offering tailor-made classes to suit different students' needs.

I have experience teaching children and adults one-to-one, one-to-two, and small groups.

I offer flexible hours so my students can arrange the classes according to their needs and availability.

Learning a language is a great opportunity to learn the culture of another country. Therefore, I use different media such as books, online articles and newspapers for reading comprehension, CDs for listening activities and conversation exercises, songs and games for children.

I can prepare for school and university exams and correct written exercises by email at no extra costs.
If you are not sure about your language level, I can assess it during the first class in order to plan a suitable course that suits your needs.

If you are a distance learner at school, college or university I can act as an assessment supervisor for your language tests.

I am enthusiastic for using new technologies to add to the learning experience.

I also offer distance learning tuition through Skype worldwide for all intermediate and advanced learners.

Personal Description:
In July 2013, I graduated from Royal Holloway, University of London, undertaking a BMus (Hons) Music degree (2.1) with a principle study in singing (1st). I took two gap years before going to university to gain experience in the music and drama fields. I have studied modules at university ranging from Bach to Beethoven and Sibelius to Weill.

Teaching Experience:

In my two gap years I was a gap student at Bedales Schools for a term and then was invited back to cover a member of music staff. Responsibilities included teaching 8-13 year old mixed pupils classroom music as well as supervising music practices. I also tutored pupils through grade 5 theory achieving merit and distinction grades.

Tutoring Approach:

I have a very laid-back attitude to teaching and will teach you in similar ways that I have been taught. I understand totally that some pupils need several ways of explaining things so bring a variety of teaching methods to my lessons. I make teaching interesting and engaging and always try to relate the subject to the pupil. I have been very fortunate to learn under some inspirational teachers and would love to be able to carry on their enthusiasm to other students.

Personal Description:
Please, feel free to contact me to see my works - I will send you the link via e-mail.

Who am I? I am a creative female human being, who is about to graduate in BSc (Hons) Architecture. I have been:
• breathing for 23 years;
• creating art for more than 12 years.

I am a darling of fortune. I do what I love and love what I do. Moreover, in my case, it is the most precise definition of my future career. I am in a deep, incurable love with Rain, Poetry, Black Coffee, Philosophy, Books, Music and any manifestations of elegant, thoughtful and inspiring Design & Art in all areas of life: from the greatest "Bilbao-effect-Architecture" from Powers-that-be at all times (starting with Ancient innovations to Modern Deconstructionism) to the 50's rockabilly dresses in my wardrobe.

Teaching Experience:

Mostly, I privately tutored children every summer between 2005-2009, helped primary school teacher to prepare art classes. I am currently looking forward to expand age category of my tutees.
I am now starting tutoring again after a break (since 2009), therefore, references will be available soon.

Tutoring Approach:

Before I start tutoring I always prefer to arrange a meeting to have a chat about what your requirements/preferences/needs are first. Once this is discussed, I take couple of days to arrange a brief plan for our lessons, which will be sent to you by e-mail. That way we adjust it together and I have time to prepare helpful information/books/software etc. for you. Once it is confirmed we arrange the date for the first lesson.

Personal Description:
I am currently a first year student at the University of Bedfordshire, studying Sport's Management, with a keen interest specifically in Sports Development.

Throughout my prior educational years I have had a strong passion for both Physical Education and History, and was able to learn a great deal under some fantastic teaching methods. Whilst in Primary School i was enrolled with a tutor and found the experience valuable and gave me a step ahead when taking exams.

Teaching Experience:

Although no current teaching experience, I have realised that eventually I would like to go into a full time teaching role, and with my previous experience would find an opportunity of tutoring and teaching extremely rewarding.

Tutoring Approach:

My approach to tutoring is that learning can be very easy given the correct manner in which taught.

I would be willing to listen to pupils and parents and engage in where they feel they need to improve as well as teaching the curriculum required to have a good understanding and knowledge of the subject in hand.

I would make the learning of the subject interesting but also with a proffesional approach allowing the pupil to deliver and fulfil there maximum potential.

Personal Description:
An approachable and empathetic manager in my former profession as an IT consultant, I am now a qualified English as a Second Language (ESL) teacher who is able to encourage and motivate people to achieve their goals. I am highly organised and enjoy being creative. I make the most of my advanced IT skills to produce materials to meet the learning needs of my students. I have a lifelong enthusiasm for language, culture and meeting new people from all walks of life, to learn and share experiences.

Teaching Experience:

I achieved my Trinity CertTESOL in January 2015. The certification process included teaching both group and individual lessons for a range of abilities from pre-intermediate to advanced. I was thoroughly stimulated by this course and enjoyed it immensely. I am now capable of going into a classroom and producing a well-thought out, appropriate and stimulating lesson that will help students of English to achieve their linguistic aims. In my former career as an IT consultant I coached, trained and mentored junior staff.

Since certification I have been fortunate to be employed by Language Schools in Winchester and Bath and have taught teenagers in multi- and mono-lingual groups. I have also taught English for Special Purposes with individual adults including Legal English and Business English.

Tutoring Approach:

I see the learning experience as a partnership between the teacher and the learner. I particularly enjoy working with an individual learner as I am able to focus on their personal needs and at our first session I will work with you to determine what you would like and need to achieve and to design a programme tailored just for you. In my Trinity CertTESOL course I was awarded an A grade for the needs analysis assignment.

Personal Description:
I am a fully qualified Music Tutor with a B.A. in Music Education from the RSAMD and a Dip.ABRSM in Piano Teaching.
I offer one to one lessons in Piano, Violin, Singing, Keyboard, Viola and Music Theory as well as fully understanding the new National 4/5 and Higher qualifications and I can provide tutoring for both the practical and listening elements of these.

Teaching Experience:

I have been teaching for over 12 years now, and have provided private instrumental lessons in the North Lanarkshire area for 10 years. I have over 60 pupils currently, and frequently put students through both SQA and ABRSM exams with an exceptionally high pass rate.

Tutoring Approach:

My approach to Tutoring is student-led, and I will devise and implement individual learning plans to suit each pupil. Usually this will include a goal of passing an exam, but the goal we work to could be a concert, a music festival, a particular piece you would like to be able to play or just wanting to improve in a certain aspect of technique.

Personal Description:
I am a recently retired Clinical Scientists (registered). I am married with a son and I am a youthful 67 year old with an 8 years old son! We are a non smoking family. My involvement with "mathematics", at various levels, dates back to when I left secondary school (Blackpool) in 1964 and worked for the Civil Service for 5 years. I was in an accounts division and passed two additional maths (and eventually English!) O'Levels via evening classes as well as enjoying the 60s and playing bass guitar in local groups. I took a 1 year full time A''Level course (Maths, Further Maths and Physics) and subsequently read for a Mathematics degree (Physics subsid.) at the University of Nottingham (1970-73). During this time, I had 3 vacation studentships with different departments of the Scientific Civil Service. After graduating, I worked for around 15 years as a computer programmer / analyst during which time I passed an HND in Computer Studies (University of the South Bank, London). Although I was 40 years old when I was made redundant from a communications company, I decide to make a significant career change and return to my "roots" and look for scientific work where my mathematical skills would be better used. After 2 years as a Medical Laboratory Scientific Officer in the lung function laboratory at the Royal Brompton, I had the tools and experience to apply for a research post in Paediatric Respiratory Medicine at the Royal Post Graduate Medical School (RPGMS, Hammersmith Hospital).

I retired in 2014 after 25 years as a researcher / Clinical Scientist at the RPGMS and Royal London. A large part of my research involved mathematical analysis of breathing patterns and flow-volume curves. This involved developing techniques and algorithms for alternative methods of assessing "lung function". I published many papers in international medical journals and all included a significant maths / stats content. During this time, I took evening classes obtaining additional A' Levels in Biology, Chemistry and Statistics and then read for an M Sc in General Biochemistry and Molecular Biology at Kings College London. In 2005, my portfolio was reviewed by the Health Professions Council and I registered as Clinical Scientist, which is a protected title, The main reason for the additional qualifications was my passion for learning and the thrill of sitting examinations and testing myself. The addition A'Levels and M. Sc. were taken for the challenge and pleasure and were not directly relevant to my career. One important reason for offering private tuition is my love of teaching / learning and I miss my close involvement with the "sciences". I have been accepted as a Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths (STEM) ambassador and I have an enhanced DBS check certificate.

Teaching Experience:

Although, I do not have formal teaching qualification and I only started offering private tuition at the beginning of 2015, I am a patient person who has tutored a range of tutees from Common Entrance Exam level to adult learner including CGSE students for both Mathematics and Statistics.

However, my "teaching" roles / experiences go back to the mid 60s helping friends struggling with the Civil Service maths entrance exams and later, post graduation, I taught maths, unpaid, to several children of friends as well as adult friends and colleagues who needed to obtain better qualification. My research positions included (i) formal teaching / lecturing roles at all levels e.g. work experience students, medical / nursing students, visiting medics, junior members of the lab staff as well as registrars and consultants; (ii) presenting the research at local, national and international meetings and (iii) giving guest lectures on B. Sc. and M Sc. courses.

In my research / technical support work, I found particular pleasure explaining to children and parents the purpose and science that underpinned the tests and the analysis and interpretation of the results. This was a unique experience for almost all of them. It gave them and me a lot of pleasure and improved the success problems. In my own time, I helped patients, some who missed a lot of school time due to their problems, with both school work in the sciences and others with projects related to the maths and biology of their respiratory problems. Invariably, they ended up knowing more than their teachers!

Tutoring Approach:

As George Orwell never said "All tutees are not the same but some are more different than others".

I have a variety of approaches, depending on factors such as (i) whether the tutee needs teaching or revision; (ii) the number of lessons the tutee can fit in before the exam; (iii) their strengths and weaknesses, as well as their interests; (iv) whether the tutee is struggling to keep up or a flyer needing to ensure an A* (v) the length of the sessions 45-90 mins and whether it is one or two session a week and (vi) the work they are able to do between sessions.

However, there are aspects that are common to all tutees: before starting the lessons, I am happy to meet for a chat (no charge) to spend as long as necessary clarifying important issue such as (i) which board, level and paper they will be sitting; (ii) the text book they use and which parts of the syllabus have been covered and whether any need revising or explaining and (iii) wherever possible, obtaining suggestions and feedback from their teachers including where marks had been lost in recent exams.

Other aspects of my approach include (i) the tutee attempting appropriate questions / papers from other boards to encourage and foster "thinking outside the box" and, thus, to be prepared for questions that do not fit the usual mode; (ii) e-mailing questions of papers in advance of session to allow adequate time for preparation; (iii) feeding back how sessions have gone and suggestions for changes and being available between session via e-mail; (iv) moving up and down the difficulty ladder depending on the progress; (v) working on exam technique and teaching how to not misinterpret questions, sometimes, badly written; (vi) preparing tutees for difficult topics about to be taught at school, to ensure they get the most out of upcoming lessons; (vii) using examples from everyday life to demonstrate the use and usefulness of maths and statistics outside of the classroom and (viii) building up confidence and aiming to engender a passion and love of the subject and learning, in general.

I make extensive use of marking schemes and examiners reports to discuss how the tutee may have obtained the correct answer but lost marks due to not showing their working or lost time providing irrelevant details and this has been very successful and interesting for the tutees.

Some of my feedback:
(i) As a Year 11 student, Peter has been providing me with extra mathematics tuition during the final months before my GCSE examinations, offering distinct, concise teaching within a relaxed but highly enjoyable and yet professional environment. As a mathematician, Peter has aided me in approaching mathematics from a somewhat more lateral perspective, exploring multiple methods that could be employed to solve a challenging question; a form of thinking that is seldom used within a typical school environment. Peter's abundant, infectious passion for both his tuition and mathematics manifests itself within his unswerving support and guidance during our sessions together, delivering a uniquely engaging teaching environment within which to learn, but most importantly, to enjoy learning mathematics!"

(ii) Parent of a Year 11 school girl: Hello Peter, thank you for your follow up, your emails always have an interesting flair about them. We also enjoyed our meeting and Ebony particularly liked your relaxed approach to the subject, for that reason alone I think she would benefit from being able to ask questions without feeling awkward about what she doesn't understand, most importantly I agree with your 'spades a spade' philosophy in how to interpret the syllabus into the real world.

(iii) Teacher's reply to an e-mail from the mother of a Common Entrance school boy: Thank you for your email. I am pleased Edward has a good tutor and is happy doing extra Maths. The best paper to prepare Edward for our end of year test would be a practice SATs test as they follow a similar format to ours.

(iv) A recent GCSE student, EDEXCEL Higher, via his mother: Peter, I obtained and A in my Stats paper and B in my maths paper and I was told by my teacher that it might be worth remarking, as I was only several marks away from the A Grade)

Consulting the 'breakdown' of my overall Mathematics grade, it appears as though I (thanks to your support) did exceptionally well within the non-calculator paper (the equivalent of a very high A/ very low A* in terms of marks), but it was simply a few questions at the end of the calculator paper (that seemed to baffle everyone, regardless of ability) that partially pushed my overall grade down.

Once again, thank you for all of your support and guidance; I certainly would not have been able to achieve my result within the NON-calculator paper, the paper that I claimed was more intimidating, without our sessions within the Library. You have improved not only my proficiency, but also my confidence in Maths enormously and for that I cannot thank you enough.

(v) Father of a schoolgirl (EDEXCEL Higher): "E" did very well overall and passed all 13 ! In Maths she was one point off a B so of course that's a C. I think we will request a remark for the maths paper. Many thanks again for your help in the past, best wishes.

Personal Description:
As a recent university graduate, I offer a closer bond with students than most tutors due to the lesser age gap. Many exams that students struggle with are ones that I myself have taken, so I can empathise and relate to issues students face on a better level than older tutors. I graduated in English Literature from UEA with a 2:1, achieved A*AA at A Level in English, Philosophy and History, and obtained 10 GCSEs at A* to A and 2 more at B. I was educated at Wilson's School in Surrey which during my time there was consistently ranked as one of the best boys' state schools in the country, and indeed was at number 1 in the rankings for a few years while I was there.

I am currently working towards an MA qualification with a view to going on to a PhD to pursue a career in academic lecturing and tutoring.

Teaching Experience:

Most of my experience comes from being on the receiving end of teachers and tutors from entrance exam up until university, and understanding their shortcomings and failings and what could have been done better. Crucially, I understand student mentalities and what students want and need at all levels. I have tutored Year 5-6s in Maths and Year 10-11s in English so far. Since joining UK Tutors I have taught a 9 year old in writing skills and a 15 year old in GCSE English.

Tutoring Approach:

I offer a fun and friendly way of helping the student to realise their full potential through going over schoolwork, practice papers and other forms of assessment - but critically, I focus on talking with and building a relationship with the student. I don't want them to see tutoring as just another school classroom with another teacher - it should be a fun and intellectually stimulating environment that they enjoy participating in. My experience has shown that if the student is enjoying themselves, they will perform to a far better standard.

I can offer high level teaching in English and History, as well as Philosophy, Critical Thinking and German to an A Level standard, Maths and Sciences up to GCSE standard, other subjects can be discussed.

Crucially, I was a master at dealing with exam pressure and good coursework - I will provide expert tutoring for students suffering from exam stress and help them to format and write essays for coursework. As I did much of the same things just a few years ago, I understand better than anyone what it feels like!

Tutoring Approach:

One to One - focussing on parts of the curriculum where the student is having difficulty in understanding
Create a deep understanding and confidence in answering exam questions and being able to tackle new and unfamiliar problems. The student is encouraged to think and make new connections for themselves. One-to-one personal tuition has a unique value to students because of the ability to resolve the students' personal barriers to learning in a way that lays the foundations for a deep and lasting understanding of the subject.

Depending on the student's needs and learning style I encourage students to think for themselves, using real-world examples wherever possible. I start from topics the students are comfortable with and move gradually towards more complex areas as their confidence builds. I use questions and examples to check understanding continually. I don't lecture to students or ask them to memorise things. Nor do I do the students' homework for them!

With programming language my approach is first to make the student using various simple approaches like an algorithm or with a flow chart to solve it then once the confidence if built up to go to the syntax of the programming language. This approach not only will help you master any programming language quickly but improve ones analytical skills as well.

Personal Description:
I am a young, dynamic Cambridge CELTA qualified teacher with a real passion for the English language. My greatest pleasure is to meet students from all over the world!

I love the challenge that each new student brings, knowing that each person has individual learning requirements and needs a unique approach to facilitating their language acquisition.

My hobbies include languages (I studied French at university), travel, literature, and education.

Teaching Experience:

I have been teaching English for over 4 years. I started by teaching my friends whilst living in France, helping them with their university assignments and preparation for TOEFL exams and presentations. In 2014 I became professionally qualified when I achieved Cambridge CELTA certification.

Since then I have taught Brazilian students from impoverished areas of Rio de Janeiro online, working for the Sequoia Foundation. I currently work for a French company, teaching English online to French-speakers (from France, as well as from many African and Caribbean countries). Working for a Hong Kong based company, I also teach a student from Spain. Further to this I also work for a Japanese company, offering 1-1 Skype lessons.

In summer of 2015 I taught monolingual classes of Italian speakers at Birmingham City University (working for a company called International Quest). My most recent teaching experience also involves an Italian student: I provide 1-1 business English lessons (face-to-face) at Deutsche Bank in Birmingham.

My students have been very varied. The youngest are currently around age 6 and the oldest have been retired casual learners (aged 60+). I have taught levels ranging from entry level (A1 and below) to advanced (C1-C2). My students are from a variety of backgrounds: schoolchildren; high school students; university students ; business professionals; casual learners.

Tutoring Approach:

I love to meet new students from all over the world and enjoy working with all levels. Each student has different needs, so I make sure our lessons reflect this. For example, one student may wish to focus on grammar and reading, whereas another might need to work on speaking and phonology.

I use materials such as the Cambridge Empower series for adolescent and adult learners, as I believe it provides a fantastic springboard for learning. For students wishing to focus on business English, I also make use of the Collins Business English range.

I also have many other resources at my disposal that can be adapted to suit each individual student's needs. For example, many students also find it beneficial to analyse newspaper articles, and I am also happy to work with students on any documents they bring to class.

Personal Description:
A warm welcome to students and parents,

Teaching has always been my passion and now I am very delighted that I can use my teaching ability to help children achieve their full potential on an everyday basis.

I have been tutoring children over the last four years from Nursery to GCSE level within the Coventry area. I have also worked in a number of schools as a full time qualified teacher. I always receive positive feedback from clients with my most memorable being "Miss J always goes that extra mile to help bridge the gaps in one's academic learning journey". Having moved from secondary school, straight to completing my A-levels and then onto university, I have developed a wide range of knowledge in helping children tackle their weaknesses, embrace their strengths and take pride in their learning achievements.

Teaching Experience:

Tutoring children is my full time profession, which has enabled me through time to develop carefully chosen activities to maximise every child's learning potential. After graduating with a teaching degree from university, I decided to go straight into teaching in schools. I really enjoyed this and developed many skills within the teaching world. After sometime, I decided I wanted to help children on a 1:1 basis as this method was so effective for those children that would not show their potential in school, or for those who were shy… or where teachers would not be able to pay attention to specific children because of the thirty in the class. Now, I teach children at diverse levels and I really enjoy it.

Within this four year period, I have taught and excelled over 200 students at different times. This has been really rewarding for me, as I am a natural teacher at heart and I really do take my work seriously.

Consequently, I have also had 3 years of university experience in the world of teaching, covering all aspects of the national curriculum, assessments and independent learning strategies to challenge children.

Every term, I give children mock term assessments as integral preparation to help consolidate their learning. This enables me to know how much they have learnt from my sessions and what areas they still need to improve on. This method is also the key for exam success.

Tutoring Approach:

My approach to tutoring is very systematic, however at the same time I adapt to the specific child's needs. Every child I have tutored so far, I have built a bond with. I hold a fair, firm and fun attitude towards learning.

The key services I offer on a regular basis within the tuition fee: block spelling tests, reading books every week depending on ability, phonics practice for the younger children to prepare for their year 1 phonics tests and finally, previous exam practice materials in all core subjects for KS1, KS2, KS3 and GCSE.

In addition, children are rewarded for their hard work through different motivational techniques and prizes through a tally chart system.

Every session entails 2-3 pieces of homework and I also give full written or verbal feedback to parents depending on their requirements.

I usually travel to clients residence or sometimes they come to my residence.

My aim is to not only teach children but to also help them enjoy their learning - by creating a safe, fun and secure learning environment.

Thank you for taking out the time to read my profile.

Kind regards,

Jay

Personal Description:
I am currently a student at the University of Leeds studying Politics. I am a friendly, approachable person with all too strong memories of how stressful exams can be!
I studied English, History and Politics and Music at A level and then worked in the Sales and Marketing sector of IBM in London for a placement year before I started university. I was the first student at my school to ever achieve an A* for Politics A Level, and have been in the top 3 students for exam results every year, from GCSE to A2.
I get on well with people of all ages and would love to help people achieve their goals!

Teaching Experience:

I have worked in the past as a mentor for high school and sixth form aged students and have passed every one with either their target grade or above! Working at IBM, I was also in charge of inducting new placement students into the company; whilst this was not academic education, it taught me relatable communication skills for sharing information and adapting my teaching techniques depending on the person I was working with.

Tutoring Approach:

I am a firm believer that there are lots of different types of learners, so will adapt my tutoring depending on the student themselves; for example those who learn by writing things down compared to those who learn by talking and discussing what they have read. I will use my friendly manner to try to relieve a student's stress and make learning the contents of exams fun as opposed to daunting.

With two parents as teachers, one of which also marks exam papers for OCR and AQA at all levels, I have also had it drilled into me that exam technique is absolutely key to success in exams, an insight that many other tutors may not have, so I will place some emphasis throughout on making sure the correct hoops are jumped to achieve those higher grades.
