Personal Description:
I am a private tutor working mostly from home, offering tuition in French, German and English (EFL/ESOL). I am available during the daytime either at my home or your home/office and in the evenings when I offer tuition in my home-based classroom. I also teach on Saturday mornings.

Teaching Experience:

I have been tutoring privately for ten years and have references available from former students as well as an enhanced CRB/DBS disclosure. I also hold a current First Aid certificate. My clients range in age from 5 years to retirement and beyond. I cater for all standards from Beginners to Advanced (A1 to C1 on the Common European Framework).

I have recent successful experience of tutoring for GCSE, iGCSE and A Level examinations for several different exam boards. In addition, several of my students are taking German exams with the Goethe Institut.

I was a volunteer leader within the Guide Association (now GirlGuiding UK) for 20 years and as such have considerable experience of teaching a variety of skills to young people aged 10-25. Having spent some time in the IT industry where training of colleagues was a key requirement of my position, I also have experience of adult education.

Tutoring Approach:

After initial assessments to see what support is needed, classes are tailored to a student's particular needs and interests. There is, of course, a vast difference between a school student who requires additional support in preparation for an exam and an adult student who is pursuing a modern foreign language out of personal interest or for business reasons. We would look at verbal and listening practice as well as written exercises.

I have a particular interest in grammar and feel that it is very difficult to have a good grasp of a language without some grammar competency. This is especially important for A Level (AS and A2) examinations. However, grammar does not have to be taught in a boring way and I often use games and fun exercises as well as more formal methods. Primary pupils learn mostly through games, puzzles and songs.

Students who are home-schooled are also most welcome. I am able to provide references from the family of a home-schooled student.

Personal Description:
I am a 26-year old girl with a degree in History of Art and a Primary Postgraduate Certificate of Education and Qualified Teacher Status. I also have a DBS police check. I will start as a Year 3 teacher in September but have experience and passion teaching all ages and all subjects. If the subject you want is not written on my profile, please ask me if I teach it and I will be completely honest about my experience. I love teaching children and adults of all ages and find tutoring to be absolutely thrilling.

Teaching Experience:

I have just completed my QTS and PGCE in primary education, following 2 and a half years teaching English as a Foreign Language in China (and learning Mandarin) with 4 years EFL experience prior to that, teaching both adults and children of varying nationalities.

I am comfortable and knowledgeable in most subjects and enjoy teaching children, teenagers and adults.

Tutoring Approach:

I cater lessons to the individual needs of the student. I spend the first lesson getting to know the student's interests and learning handicaps so as to make my lessons relevant, engaging and enjoyable.

Personal Description:
I have recently graduated from a Masters degree in drama at The Guildhall School of Music and Drama having graduated from Cambridge University with a degree in English. Teaching has always been a great passion of mine and one to one tutoring is the most rewarding, in its opportunity for directness and specificity.

Teaching Experience:

I have been tutoring privately for three years and have also tutored drama in schools over the last few years. I have also had teaching experience abroad, teaching English as a foreign language in Indian and African schools.

Tutoring Approach:

I aim to make learning fun whilst also ensuring fast and effective progress. I ensure that I get to know my students' ways of learning as soon as possible in order to tailor my tutoring style to their individual needs. I hope to be able to offer a way of learning different but utterly beneficial to the current exam syllabuses which can often seem fairly daunting and rigid on first impression.

Personal Description:
Post doctoral researcher at University of Sheffield, working to improve mathematical computer models which predict onset of heart disease.

I recently completed a PhD in Bioengineering at Imperial College London, carrying out mathematical research on heart disease. My first degree was in Maths at the same university, and I took a Masters in Biomedical Research in between.

I attended both a state school and a top boarding school and am comfortable to cover topics on and off the standard syllabus.

I am a very fun, friendly person with a wide range of activities and hobbies from inline skating to singing and playing the violin.

Teaching Experience:

I have tutored A-level maths privately for a few years, and also spent several weeks as a teaching assistant in a secondary school during my undergraduate degree as part of the Student Associates Scheme. Many of my contemporaries from university are science and mathematics teachers across England and overseas, and I periodically discuss teaching methods and curriculum changes with them.

During my PhD, I led undergraduate tutorials and problems classes in the Mathematics and several Engineering departments, teaching undergraduates from 1st year to 4th year. The courses include Mathematical Methods, Matlab, Fluid Mechanics, PDEs, Modelling in Biology, Heat and Mass Transfer. I also carried out 1-1 tuition for undergraduates at departmental request. I have supervised a number of undergraduate and masters research projects and summer students.

Tutoring Approach:

I am a very approachable person and I prefer interactive sessions, although I can tailor the tuition style to the individual.

A first meeting would involve an informal chat for the student and I to get more familiar with his/her needs and style of working, and everything follows from there.

Personal Description:
Having always taken academic learning seriously myself, I am keen to help others do the same. My 12 A* GCSEs led to A* A* A* A grades at A Level, and now I'm studying towards a French degree at Oxford University. I am a very capable linguist, whose knowledge has a particular depth to it, having studied French, German, Latin and English Literature at A Level. This level of expertise stems from a natural love for these subjects, and this passion is a great asset for a tutor to have.

Teaching Experience:

I have assisted Key Stage 4 lessons at Chesterton Community College, taking small groups aside to help them with grammar and speaking tasks.

Tutoring Approach:

As I teach, I am able to focus on the exact components of the subject which it is necessary to know for the examination being taken, so that everything I teach is of the utmost relevance. Having been through the same exams I will be teaching, I will make it clear exactly how to excel. This practical approach is nonetheless accompanied by the natural enthusiasm which I have for these subjects.
As an Oxford University student, I am also well-equipped to shed light on the Oxbridge application process, as well as the application process for Hills Road Sixth Form College, which is where I took my A Levels.

I am a happy person because I love my job. I am really interested in teaching languages, using various approaches and methods as well as learning them, in particular self-learning.

Teaching Experience:

I have been working in a Language Centre for over ten years, teaching English and Russian languages at all levels. I am experienced in working with a wide range of programmes such as survival language, exam preparation, etc. and gave a great amount of individually tailored lessons as well.
I also designed and successfully taught a course on English-Russian Translation for students from British universities.

Tutoring Approach:

I believe in order to be effective the learning process should be interesting and engaging, if possible even entertaining, but never tedious. So I try to bring in variety into my lessons and build language learning around the topics which appeal to my student.

Personal Description:
I'm a master student from China majoring in human nutrition in Glasgow university. Before this, in my undergraduate university in China I have worked as a proofreader of dictated draft from speech records for student union. I'm good at wording and grammar. Recently I learned a little German and Arabic to experience how people speaking varies around the world and also inspired by these teachers as to how to approach to a language from 0.

Teaching Experience:

During this year I have taught a classmate mandarin from 0. He is a Scottish. However, he is keen to learn a wide variety of languages. When he found Korean and Malay easier he gave up mandarin. Such a worldwide culture vulture! Anyway, no matter you learn mandarin for culture, travel, work, yellow-face friends, curiosity, or just Chinese restaurants, you are all warmly welcome! I can teach you from the basic pronunciation which is like singing to beautiful Chinese characters which is like dancing.....

Tutoring Approach:

I'm only available from September to December 2016. I'm friendly and very patient. If you have time for homestudying I can teach more during tutorial; if not, we will practice more together to consolidate memory. Language is for communication, absolutely not for getting a high score!
Honored to be your teacher!
