Personal Description:
I am a fully qualified architect and also town planner, currently working in practice in Sheffield and registered with the Architect's Registration Board (ARB) and the Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA).

Having completed my postgraduate education at the University of Sheffield in 2006 I have gone on to develop my experience in practice as well as progress my portfolio in personal tuition.

With an exemplary academic record and a professional yet friendly tutoring approach, I am able to offer bespoke study courses to enable students to further their understanding of the chosen subject, build confidence, and ultimately improve their grades.

Teaching Experience:

Since 2004 I have gained experience of tuition at a variety of skill levels, across a range of subject from primary through to A-Level students.

My most recent examples of tuition include performing an assistant role for a live project in the Masters Course in Architecture at the University of Sheffield, as well as private clients learning more on GCSE Maths and Science.

Tutoring Approach:

As mentioned above, I take a highly professional yet friendly approach to tuition. I believe in a clear, logical strategy, with good presentation, accurate time keeping and ensuring a strong tutor pupil relationship. This is combined with a desire to develop a wider understanding of the subject matter and also development of exam and study techniques. When all combined this makes for an effective system that enables students to grow and progress.

I look to tutor from a small business office at weekends at Walmgate in York near the Clifford Tower and hence am able to provide a safe, secure study environment on the doorstep of a magnificent city that is ideal for live field trips where relevant (mainly for English, Design, Architecture or History studies). The area is well served by parking and public transport for easy access.

Personal Description:
I am a young, enthusiastic teacher, with a passion for learning and teaching. My specialist subjects are Maths, English and ICT, and I enjoy exploring new and exciting ways to teach these subjects outside of the classroom environment.

Teaching Experience:

Before retraining as a teacher, I worked in HR and then as a Teaching Assistant. I studied at Canterbury Christ Church on a three year Primary Education degree, and undertook 3 x 2 week placements at a range of schools. I have experience of teaching children who need extra help or confidence building, and enjoy boosting their confidence in their own ability.

I have also taught adult education classes on using Microsoft Office products, and enjoyed these very much. I would be keen to restart this with people who want an introduction into using these programs, or feel they would like a refresher.

Tutoring Approach:

I want children (and adults) to enjoy learning and aim to provide a fun, but constructive, session to achieve this. I am flexible and will work to mutually agree the aims of the tutoring, and will work at a suitable pace which is both appropriate and challenging.

I currently work with a class of children who need significant learning support, and am sensitive to the fact that often low-self confidence is a great barrier to learning. I give constructive feedback and use formative assessment - I will not move on to the next topic until I know that the previous one is concrete. I try to use computers and technology a lot in my teaching, as I find this works as a good motivational tool.

I get great joy from seeing people succeed - and I aim to finish each session with a smile.

Personal Description:
I am 42 years old and have a friendly and patient personality. I have three children of my own and understand that parents sometimes need additional support for their child's learning outside of the school environment. I have a good sense of humour and enjoy making learning fun by presenting ideas in a variety of novel ways.

Teaching Experience:

I have been teaching for 15 years in a wide variety of Primary Schools. Within this time, I have developed subject leadership skills in maths, literacy and ICT. I have a wealth of experience in diagnosing barriers to learning and identifying clear and progressive targets to overcome these barriers. I have experience of KS2 Sats and have very up to date curriculum knowledge at the Primary School level.

Tutoring Approach:

I believe that one to one tutoring can have a very significant and measurable impact on the progress of learning for a child. This is best achieved through careful initial diagnosis of areas of strengths and weaknesses, a targeted programme of work that is individualised and that, crucially, addresses those identified 'gaps' in understanding. With good ongoing reinforcement activities, realistic and professional communication with both student and parents, I firmly believe that a child's learning can be advanced by the tutoring process. Learning must be fun to be effective; I use a wide variety of teaching skills and strategies to ensure that the student feels valued, successful and finds enjoyment in learning.

Personal Description:
I'm a strong believer in learning and see the work of private tuition as an excellent way to communicate learning to be more enjoyable and to invovle the pupil to a far greater extent.

Teaching Experience:

Along with completing the i-i Tefl, I've also had extensive experience organising and teaching children about politics and campaignining on the Obama campaign.

Tutoring Approach:

I'm very patient, I like to think I have a very amiable approach that focuses on getting the student to think about the problem and the issues which the problems relate to. With some help fromt he tutor and the work of the tutor providing the prompts I find this to be very effective for arts subjects. For both science and arts I want to focus on explaning the issue, e.g. for science and maths I feel where psosible to learn how the maths works e.g. how the formula was constructed.

Personal Description:
I am a retired teacher who wishes to keep active in the fields of education and learning. I have taught for many years as well as being active in youth work and am currently a member of the ACF (Army Cadet Force). I also have extensive experience of tutoring, having filled this role for the last three years with a numberof agencies.

Teaching Experience:

I have taught for nearly thirty years, in schools both abroad and in Britain. I have taught in private and state schools, was a Head of Department and a Head of Year for many years. I have taught Physics, Chemistry, Maths, Modular Science and Combined Science to KS3, KS4 and KS5. I have also been involved in Adult Education.

Tutoring Approach:

Most pupils benefit from a one-to-one approach, having the undivided attention of a qualified teacher. This, less formal environment tends to promote trust and aids the learning process. After a short time I can identify individual problems or issues and initiate learning strategies to overcome these. The importance of developing a confident, professional relationship with the pupil cannot be overstresed.

Personal Description:
I am a 20 year old student. I am currently in my second year of a MSci degree in Chemistry at Glasgow university. I am a very open person and easy to get along with. I have a firm grasp of chemistry and find it easy to communicate my knowledge on the subject.

Teaching Experience:

I have limited experience in tutoring, I have tutored some 1st year university students in Chemistry. I also tutored younger students in the school I attended.

Tutoring Approach:

My approach to tutoring is usually a question and answer format. I will tackle the key issues the student has trouble with and use different techniques to best explain the topic to them. I am also fond of a problem based learning format in that I will set questions to be researched by the student and then talk them through their answers.

Personal Description:
I'm 20 year old university student. I'm currently completing a BA in French and I'm a native French speaker. I speak fluent English without any accent, therefore there will not be any language barrier. I completed my GCSEs in the UK and achieved an A* in French Language and the same grade for my French A Level.

Teaching Experience:

I assisted teachers in the French and Maths department, through a program my 6th Form was offering, during my A Levels. I am also currently working as a volunteer in a secondary school in the Enfield borough. I usually teach groups of students between the age of 12-16 (which includes GCSE students).

Tutoring Approach:

Every child and adult learn differently, whether it's languages or sciences. I tend to adapt with the learning pace of the student and give him the support he/she needs to go further. I also do my best to find out which way the student concerned learns better and try concentrating on that. I usually give the student a good taste of the french language and the many reasons why it will be beneficial to them.

Personal Description:
I am a young, enthusiastic, newly qualified teacher who would like to put my new-found skills to use over the summer whilst I seek a permanent teaching position. I am passionate about languages but would also be keen to apply my teaching skills to subjects I learnt at A Level.

Teaching Experience:

I have just finished my PGCE in Modern Foreign Languages (July 2009), during which I worked in two different secondary schools. I have taught French across the 11-18 age range, alongside some Spanish. I also ran a German conversation club.

Prior to this, I graduated in June 2008 from St Andrews University with an MA in French and Spanish (2.1). During my degree, I privately tutored a pupil for his IB Spanish exam and I also volunteered in a local secondary school, assisting the class teacher with small groups of pupils.

I have also spent a year abroad working for the British Council as a Foreign Language Teaching Assistant in French secondary schools. I taught English in tandem with the class teacher and I also led my own classes. I found additional work as a private tutor for sixth formers and adults and in the local agricultural college, teaching environment-specific vocabulary to adults. In addition, I tutored the local town-twinning committee in English in preparation for their exchange visit to England.

Tutoring Approach:

I have been described by my PGCE tutors as 'firm, fair and fun' and I believe this is the best approach to teaching and learning. Of course, my style can be adapted to suit any learner's needs - I'm open to change. I am dedicated and will be willing to source / make additional materials as required if this would enhance the learning experience.

Personal Description:
I am Polish. I studied French in Poland and France. I have Master's degree in French - I specialised in teaching and translation/interpreting. I have as well the DALF diploma and the French Postgraduate DESS diploma in Politics.
I am a qualified teacher with experience as a private tutor. My great advantage is not being native French speaker as I understand exactly what you are going through trying to learn French - I know as I have done it myself! I am very patient, I can explain the difficult topics from the foreigner's point of view - so from your point of view!

Teaching Experience:

I studied French language at University. I specialised in teaching. At University I was working as volunteer French teacher. After I finished University, I have been working as a private French tutor.

Tutoring Approach:

Tutoring is the best way to learn the Modern language as I can concentrate on 1 person's needs. For me it is the best way to know you so I can help you to find the best way for YOU to learn French. I am very patient as I understand what you are going through - I have been there myself! I spend many years learning French. I use a lot of activities suited to your needs; I spend time to explain the French grammar as well (if you need it!), as without it even the best active approach based on speaking only may fail, I know from my experience that in order to speak well, one needs to know how to put words together.

Personal Description:
I am doing a master's degree at London School of Economics (LSE) in Media, Communications and Development after graduating last year from Fudan University(Shanghai) majored in Journalism and English-Chinese interpretation.

I grew up in a beautiful city called Suzhou in the Yangzi River Delta Area which is famous for canals and ancient gardens. I love back-packing, cycling, learning French and going out with friends. Since last September, I have been fully engaged in the academic, cultural and social activities in and out of LSE. I spend a lot of time climbing the staircases of the library; I enjoy the international cuisines all around London; I meet with people from all over the world everyday and engage myself in the global debate with them.

Teaching Experience:

I've got various teaching experiences with people from all over the world. I was the Teaching Trainee of AIESEC (An international student organization) and worked as a language teacher in Omsk, a city located in the center of Siberia, for about three months, where I taught English and Chinese to both Russian adults and kids. In addition, I worked as a private Chinese tutor to the students from UK, US, Sweden and Korean in my undergraduate. For the current moment, I am operating on a consultant basis for Chinesezone, a company based in London, and teach Chinese to two British adults.

Tutoring Approach:

I use different approaches in teaching reading, speaking, listening and writing. I am able to explain the meaning of each word clearly and able to teach the differences of tones of pronunciation patiently. I am able to allocate the time for each sections according to the needs of my students and provide some tailor-made materials if needed. I will combine the teaching and exercises together, and make sure that my students' need can be met during the courses. However, the most important approach for me is always becoming friends with the students and encouraging them to use the language as frequently as they can and create a language atmosphere where they can get familiar with the language step by step.

Personal Description:
I am a 19 year old qualified TEFL tutor from Emneth, near Wisbech. I am taking a gap year and need to earn money to pay for my studies (I hope to become a history teacher). I love working with children and teenagers of all ages, and have been involved with several youth groups, the last one being a drama workshop group for primary school children.

I have many interests including drama, history, language, travel, media and arts and crafts which I practice alot in my spare time and have linked in to some of the youth groups I have partaken in.

Most of all I like to make learning fun for all and to relate to every individual student for how they themselves are.

Teaching Experience:

This is my second year of teaching, though prior to this it has part-time in the holidays. I have done many one to one and two to one jobs as a private TEFL teacher. This summer I also had the pleasure of working in a summer school as one of three teachers, where I had to devise my own lessons and teach a class full of foreign students in English, which was an enjoyable challenge. Their ages ranged from 13 to 18. The oldest student I have taught was 25, the youngest was 13, but the norm is between 13-19.

I have also studied both German and Spanish at A2 level, achieving a C and an A respectively, and therefore I would like to offer my services as a tutor in these languages at a primary school level for basic to intermediate skills. At my college, I joined a group of learning support students, and my role was to assist my language teachers in their year 7 and 8 classes (ages 11-13) so I do have some experience in teaching foreign languages.

Tutoring Approach:

I would love the opportunity to work with new students and I am adaptable to whatever tutoring services you require in these subjects. I am also open to trying new things in lessons be they using media such as famous songs, films and books, or drama exercises and games along with grammar and of course reading, listening, speaking and writing.

Being relatively young myself, I feel that I can understand young people well and can respond to them in a fun and authoritative manner, using encouragement and praise to help struggling students. I try to bring things to the students level, using modern developments to keep their interest piqued.
