Personal Description:
I am an energetic and experienced English teacher and Assistant Head who strongly believes in building relationships with students that support their learning. I love travelling, literature (both classic and contemporary) and sports (especially football, rugby and cricket). Whatever level your daughter or son is at, I will make sure they progress to the next stage, whether that is excellent GCSE results, A Level results or entry to University.

Teaching Experience:

I am currently Assistant Head Teacher at Stoke College, near Sudbury, and have been teaching English for ten years. I have long experience in teaching and tutoring for students in Years 7-13, usually teaching AQA English Language and Literature GCSEs and OCR A Level. I have tutored students sitting different exam boards with great success, too. I began my teaching career at The Ashcombe School in Dorking, Surrey, before spending two years at Tiffin Girls' School, then the top ranked state school in the country, as Head of English. I have taught many students through to Oxford and Cambridge University entrance. I have taught Media Studies at A Level and my degree is Joint Honours History with English, so am always on hand to help with History or similar work.

Tutoring Approach:

I can give your child the support they need to build their confidence so they feel more able to complete school tasks, homework, coursework and exam revision. At exam level, I build on school work, revising techniques and consolidating the skills and topics learned so that students can reach their full potential in external exams. At the highest level, I will guide your son or daughter through textual annotations and literary study.

For students in Years 7-9, I have found it is often just as helpful to be able to assist and tutors in your son or daughter's full range of subjects, especially those that rely on written work, such as History, Geography and RE.

I bring an innovative and personalised approach to tutoring so your child never needs to feel that tutoring sessions are an extension of school; instead they are a way to look at English in a positive light so tutees can enjoy learning.

Personal Description:
As a school student, I was a confirmed hater of Science! I am still haunted by the drafty labs and memories of sitting in silence on wobbly stools taking notes from ancient text books and carrying out odd practicals with the ubiquitous Potato tuber. It wasn't until I started studying Science as an adult learner in an FE college, where I was taught by inspiring and enthusiastic lecturers, who illustrated important concepts with analogies, diagrams and genuinely interesting practicals, that I began to realise that science was relevant to me and was "my thing".

This experience has stayed with me and has given me a passion for making science exciting and largely the reason that I chose a career in personal tutoring.

I am a professional full-time private tutor. I have recently graduated with an MSc in Science (Medicinal Chemistry and science education studies). I have also graduated with a First class honours degree in Life Sciences (Open) and I have completed a Post-graduate Certificate in Professional Studies in Education, specialising in Science Education.

Teaching Experience:

I specialised in A level and GCSE tuition and I have extensive experience working with a wide range of students, from those who are struggling and need help understanding the key concepts to those who do well in science but need support to develop the exam technique that will get them the top grades.

I have tutored students working towards exams with all the major exam boards, including AQA (AS, A2 Biology and Chemistry, GCSE core science, GCSE Additional Science, GCSE Biology and Chemistry), OCR (AS, A2 Biology and Chemistry, Salter's Chemistry, 21st Century Science GCSE), WJEC (A level Biology), EDEXCEL (AS and A2 Biology and Chemistry, GCSE, IGCSE)

I also have much experience working with students entering for exams as external candidates and I can provide assistance in making arrangements for this.

In my professional life prior to tuition, I was employed as a company trainer in the catering industry, working with newly employed staff on an individual basis to help them develop the skills and knowledge relevant to their new positions and training existing staff to take on more senior roles. This gave me extensive experience of one-to-one tuition and creating individual training strategies.

Tutoring Approach:

When I begin tutoring a new student, I spend some time getting to know the individual and we begin by discussing their current feelings about Science and what they would like to get out of the tutorial sessions. I also carry out an assessment of the individual's learning style (sounds scary, but it's not, it's just a short quiz). By discovering how the individual learns best, I can structure the tutorials so that they are composed of activities that will be both effective and enjoyable. In all cases, I endeavor to make Science enjoyable and relevant to the individual student as possible and tailor the explanations to their particular interests.

As well as providing subject-specific tuition, I place particular emphasis on the development of study and exam skills. Where relevant, this includes teaching essay writing skills, how to revise, how to approach exams and specific scientific skills, such as data analysis and evaluation, which are often assessed in course work. I also offer tutorial sessions which focus just on study skills, for those who are comfortable with their subject knowledge but need extra support in these areas.

As well as traditional face to face sessions, I also offer fully online lessons using skype and an interactive whiteboard which allows me to interact with students in the same way as in a face-to-face lesson. If you are interested in online tuition but are not sure how it would work please contact me to discuss.

Personal Description:
I am 33 years old and have a 1st in French (BA Hons) from Nottingham University, with a distinction in spoken language. As well as a year spent working in Paris, I have worked in French speaking West Africa. I currently work part time for a charity and have a broad range of interests from gardening and cycling, to music and French culture (of course!).

Teaching Experience:

I have been teaching French privately since April 2011. I primarily teach GCSE students, including students who struggle with French because of dyslexia. I have developed a variety of creative methods to make sure my teaching is as clear and as interesting as possible and have helped students improve their marks by up to 2 grades. I have taught to above A level standard and have a very high level of French.

At the start of 2017 I worked for two months as a supply teacher at the International School of Ouagadougou (Burkina Faso). As well as private tuition and teaching I have volunteered as a mentor for young offenders. During this time I tried to find ways to teach some of the young people basic skills without them even really realising it (i.e. teaching basic arithmetic through carpentry lessons).

Tutoring Approach:

I tailor teaching sessions to the needs and interests of my pupils. This influences both the content of the teaching, and teaching style. I use a range of teaching techniques and feel strongly that teaching should be fun as well as informative.

While I ensure that the material covered matches the GCSE/A Level syllabus, lessons can be tailored to other needs if the pupil is not studying for the purpose of exams.

Personal Description:
A Master of Mathematics graduate from UEA in Norwich, with a year studying in Melbourne Australia. I have great experience tutoring with various age groups and personalities.

I have enjoyed tutoring part time and full time for the past few years whilst learning a Postgraduate Diploma course since University. I was subsequently contracted in by a local college to provide individual and group tutoring sessions to underachieving students, during and after school.

Teaching Experience:

I started tutoring GCSE maths in Year 13, providing a very structured learning by my school. The students engaged well and it helped to have people of a similar age that the students could relate to, enabling a more relaxed learning atmosphere. I also informally helped peers of various levels whilst at university, maths students but also engineering and foundation levels. When my services were required in a particular area, then they asked for help on short notice.

On top of this I've been tutoring over the past 4 years, usually working 7 days a week from the new year onward. Peak hours ranged in excess of 40hrs of tutoring for several months. I've therefore assessed the likely weaknesses of a student and have already provided and perfected methods of explanation.

Tutoring Approach:

Can look at casual tutoring of areas of difficulty, or can do more structured learning of a curriculum, either intense learning or weekly troubleshooting. I've established good quality material for any level. Plenty of students just require good material and direction for their efforts.

The first meeting will be free with the aim of getting to know one another and the strengths and weaknesses of the tutee, and at what pace the student requires. At which point a structured plan of action can be drawn up. In some cases the tutee may lack the confidence in areas, but can in fact do what's required. Even a casual troubleshooting session every now and then can set their worries at rest.

Should extracurricular material be required or wanted then I'll be happy to provide. This material might not be hard for the tutee, but will help link in various areas of mathematics and will require a little thought about the patterns seen.

Personal Description:
I am a fully qualified Mathematics teacher currently working in an inner city secondary in Liverpool.
I graduated from the University of Liverpool with an honours degree in Mathematics and Financial Economics and have also completed a further Mathematics course at Liverpool Hope University.
My background in Mathematical education has provided me with the knowledge and skills to teach students of all ages and different abilities.
I have been tutoring for the past three years now, both independently and for a private agency, with a proven track record in gaining the results required by each of my students.
Full CRB available on request

Teaching Experience:

I currently work in an inner city school, recently rated as "good with outstanding features" by Ofsted. I have worked in the school for the past three years teaching pupils in classes, small tuition groups and on a one to one basis.
I have an extensive knowledge in preparing pupils for exams, whether it be secondary school entry exams, GCSE or A-level. This has come from working in various schools doing intervention classes, both independently and as part of my further Maths course in University.
As well as teaching in the Uk i have been fortunate enough to go on a charity project to India over the summer holidays where i was able to teach in two Tibetan school, which has given me a wider perspective on teaching.

Tutoring Approach:

The first session is always used to get the know the student, find out what they want, what their strengths and weaknesses are and how we can develop these to reach our target grade/level. This is done by creating a relaxed, friendly atmosphere where the student can feel they are able to approach me with any problems or queries. By finding out the above information and creating such an atmosphere, i am then able to build their confidence and understanding in Mathematics.
I also aim to use the same approaches as i do in my classroom, where the students can see how they are doing and how to reach the next level. Regularly little assessments will take place as evidence of pupil progression.
Pupils will be encouraged to try hard and aim to reach the highest possible grade they can.

Personal Description:
I am a student at the University of Bristol and would like to be a french tutor this summer (2013). I am currently on my year abroad in the South of France and on my return in June would like to help young students improve their french. Having studied french for 8 years i am very enthusiastic about the language, but also the culture. I am completely flexible this summer and have a car so would be able to do home tutoring. As i spend most of my time speaking french at the moment it would be a great opportunity to further this hobby in England whilst helping somebody else and hopefully giving them the enthusiasm that i have for the language.

Teaching Experience:

Although i have not got any formal qualifications as a teacher, when studying my A Levels I helped with the younger classes and often help my younger brother with his language revision. I have acquired voluntary work with children for two years as a leader at my local Brownies group, therefore engaging in and leading activities. I would feel comfortable teaching children or adults.

Tutoring Approach:

I am keen to take an approach to tutoring that suits the individual client. I would offer structured lessons with exercises and small tests for those who are preparing for exams. However I would also be happy to tutor somebody who needs to practice their spoken french. In the first lesson we can identify what suits the student best and together choose our method of teaching and learning.

Personal Description:
I have over 15 years experience working in the science field as a researcher, teacher and exam marker. I am passionate about my subject and enjoy passing on this enthusiasm and drive to the students I teach. I have spent 11 years in academia and published my work (two papers submitted 2016). I have ongoing links with local universities and can offer advice and help to prepare students for university. I can offer support and guidance with students UCAS applications, covering letters, interview skills and CV writing.

Teaching Experience:

I am qualified to teach biology and chemistry from GCSE to A level. I have 4 years experience in a secondary school where I have taught pupils in the age range 11-19. I have worked with mixed ability classes, highly able pupils and SEN pupils. This year I am very proud of my students who have all excelled in their exams achieving above and beyond their target grades. All my GCSE students improved their mock results by at least two grades. My AS students all achieved A -C grades with the new specification. My AQA A level students all achieved the required grades to enter their first choice university (gaining A-C grades in biology and chemistry). I have experience teaching the current OCR, edexcel and AQA specifications.

Tutoring Approach:

My priority focus when teaching science is to engage the students. To encourage an inquisitive mind so that the pupils will ask questions to develop their knowledge and understanding. It is also important to identify the role of science in our everyday tasks and activities - it touches on so many parts of our daily activities and links to many other subjects. It should be fun and interesting. The ability and drive to learn something new and build on that is key to progressing in a subject.

I am also a native english speaker and have a keen interest in academic writing and the english language.

I am willing to travel to a students home, however if the tuition is music based, I would recommend coming to my home studio, which is fully equipped with industry standard equipment and software. This environment will help your skills and knowledge elevate rapidly to the next level. (equipment list found at the foot of this section).

Having studied at Degree level, I am well suited to help you with course work for GSCE/A-level and Degree. Your course work will benefit considerably from the insights gained from my guidance.

However if you have left formal education and require assistance with a music project from the angle of enhanced production and arrangement techniques, I am also glad to be of assistance.

I have extensive experience in the areas of Music Production, Remixing, Studio Recording, Song Writing and Arranging.

Personal Description:
Artist/Scenic Artist and Mural Artist. I teach Drawing and Painting in my studio. I have a scientific background and I gained the title of PhD in Statistical Genetics. I paint since I was four, and in the last 5 years it has become my job. It is my passion and I love to teach painting and drawing to children and adults. I've been teaching privately in my studio for the last 3 years.
At the present time I'm dedicating my time mostly to paint photorealistic paintings of water in movement.

Teaching Experience:

I've been teaching privately for the last 3 years here in London. I teach drawing, painting and mural painting. My students have different background and skills.

I also have been teaching Maths up to GCSE level.

Tutoring Approach:

I tailor each class to the different skills and ambition of each student. I require a certain commitment which helps me guiding through the path of learning. I want the students to be happy and satisfied and this is possible only if there is commitment and if the work is enjoyable.
The class is fun and I always make the student understand what he/she needs to focus on to deliver the required effect and be able to proceed and learn new things.

Personal Description:
Hello I'm Yesica, I“m 29 years old and I“m Spanish. I love teaching so I studied a master in teaching. I do adapt the lessons to your needs so you improve your Spanish at your own pace.

Teaching Experience:

I have been a private tutor for more than 8 years, tutoring children from 4 to 16 years old, helping them with all the subjects that they needed.

Tutoring Approach:

My tutoring depends of your needs. It isn“t the same teaching a child or an adult, so I can play, sing and draw with children and have a more serious style with an adult.
The content is completely adaptable too. Just tell me what are your interests and I“ll plan the class for you

Personal Description:
I have been a teacher of Economics for the past 6 years and the results my students achieve are significantly above the national average. I have had previous experience as an Economics Examiner for AQA and currently examine for Edexcel (new specification!).

Teaching Experience:

I currently work for a leading Independent School In Dorset. I have six years experience teaching Economics A Level.
I was an Economics Examiner for AQA from 2012-2015.
I am currently an Economics Examiner for Edexcel and worked on both the Micro and Macro papers for the new specification last year.

Tutoring Approach:

My availability for private tutoring can be quite erratic as I work for a boarding school and have three young children. I would be willing to travel within a 15 minute radius of Sherborne to tutor.

Personal Description:
My name is Chiara, I am 24 and I am Italian. I graduated from my hometown university (Universitą degli Studi di Palermo) in Classics and I was awarded my Master of Arts in Classics at the University of London (intercollegiate UCL, KCL, RHUL). I live in Guildford but I am willing to travel to London (not too far from Waterloo or easily reachable from there).
My relationship with Latin&Greek is a long one: I have studied these languages (and the cultures they belong to) for more than 10 years. My BA dissertation was in fact the first Italian edition of a group of philosophical Greek letters.
I have studied as well my mother language, Italian, at undergraduate level (literature and linguistics) and I am qualified, for the Italian system, to teach it.

Teaching Experience:

I have tutored high school pupils and adults for three years while I was completing my BA. I am experienced in teaching Classical languages using the "grammatical method" as well as the "natural method". I have taught mostly languages and Classical literature, but I tutored as well a few adults willing to learn Italian as a second language.

Tutoring Approach:

I am a patient but firm tutor. I believe that most of the pupils are naturally curious and that their curiosity must be stimulated with a learning experience based on their own interests and in their own time. Even though grammar is not that fun, it is possible to explain it in a compelling way, that makes it not only more interesting but also easier to memorise.
I usually prepare before every lesson different exercises for all of my tutees, in order to challenge all their abilities in a certain subject before e.g. an exam.
