Personal Description:
I am a BSc Geography and MA Education Practise graduate who has worked in educational roles since the age of 18. I am currently undertaking my PGCE Teacher Training in geography at the University of Leicester. In a teaching capacity I have worked at both state and public schools with great success and have experience working with SEN students.

Teaching Experience:

I will soon be completing my Teacher Training in secondary and A level geography. Through my training I have discovered my personal teaching style and have had excellent results in schools that I have taught in. Before this, I was a Teaching Assistant in an SEN school. In this role, I learned how to connect with students, making them want to learn and engage with content. Whilst studying for my degree in geography I was a sports instructor. This was my first role in which I coached and taught people, teaching me how to get the most out of students and ensure they reach their potential.

Tutoring Approach:

I like to personally get to know the student in order to understand their unique engagement style. By doing this, I can mould the current curriculum around them, their learning style and personal needs. The curriculum for the age bracket will be followed with explicit detail, with regular assessment checks and personal target indicators. Whilst the learning environment is very relaxed, I strive to challenge every student and maximise their academic capabilities through a spectrum of mediums.

Personal Description:
I am a 32 year old female professional, with a First class Honours Psychology degree and full Primary teaching status, as well as specialized experience, skills and knowledge in working with children and young adults with severe learning disabilities.
I am well-traveled and moved to Brighton in the summer of August 2008, to experience life near the sea within the UK. I have also lived in London, Australia and New Zealand.
I practice Hot Yoga and am a keen runner as well as a scuba-diver.

Teaching Experience:

I am in my ninth year as a qualified teacher and have worked within education of young people, particularly those with special needs, since I was 16.
I worked within a nursery over a 3year period, covering sickness and holiday relief, caring for children from all ages between 6months-5 years.
I have taught in all Primary year groups and currently have a Key Stage 1 and 2 class, specializing in Autism. I am up to date on many special needs provisions and have strong behaviour management skills. I am also a middle manager and the lead teacher for Literacy and Numeracy, for students ranging from age 5 to 19 years of age.

Tutoring Approach:

Learning should be enjoyable, interesting and applicable to real-life. Education lacking these elements will not, in my mind, endear itself to young people.
I am fair and consistent and expect high standards from all my students. I will always endeavour to cater for personal needs and to make learning individualized and therefore accessible.
I will not accept laziness but I will accept honesty - if a student finds something difficult, they know to tell me in order that I may assist them and overcome that particular hurdle.
When I am tutoring at GCSE and adult level, I also endeavour to make the sessions motivating, but ensure they are more student-lead and will scaffold the sessions but find tutees have more success when they are able to be guided rather than dictated to.

Personal Description:
I am 54 now and consider myself to have reached a point where I have experience to share and yet still enjoy working with the students and helping them to get to their own potential. I am family orientated, considered by my friends and colleagues to be warm and nurturing.

I am passionate about my students reaching their potential, even if their starting point is not deemed to be high by academic standards.

I am used to a wide variety of challenges and opportunites having worked with special needs for many years.

Teaching Experience:

I have taught through all the age ranges starting off as a Internationally Qualified Montessori Teacher, working right through to University level as an accelerated learning practitioner (I trained with Tony Buzan). My core specialism is Dyslexia and Special Needs. I have worked with home schooled children for many years as well as continuing to do regular home tutoring after school hours and some Saturday mornings. I still run Montessori workshops particularly for those involved in homehomeschooling. I am also a Qualified and Insured Naturopath and teach a wide variety of alternative health and well-being workshops, as in my experience, health and well being are directly related to the students ability to learn effectively; so many students who have experienced challenges in assimilating learning often are found to have some form of health or allergy issues. .

Tutoring Approach:

I prefer a holistic style of teaching, using where possibly a multi - sensorial and multi -discipline approach. I believe that a good relationship with the student, which, while still being professional, engenders a sense of trust, caring and belief in the students ability to rise higher than they thought they could. I feel that one has to enable the student to find out where their true base line is through good assessment, then allow them to work on their challenges through the utilization of their strengths. I believe in supporting the student in developing their own, successful and sophisticated learning strategies which are unique to their learning style.
I have a current enhanced DBS certificate and am starting up a Montessori childminding facility.

Personal Description:
I am a 26 year old Primary school teacher with a range of experience working with children and young people. In particular, I have worked with children who experience barriers to learning and I enjoy aiding them to experience success in education. I am a fun but hard-working and reliable individual with a passion for working with children.

Teaching Experience:

Before embarking on teacher training, I worked as a teaching assistant in both primary and post-primary settings. I provided support to children with English as an additional language and with special educational needs in both settings. I was responsible for planning, setting targets and assessment of the children I worked with. I also supervised a Homework Club, providing assistance to post-primary children in various subjects including children with special education needs and those who are gifted and talented. During this 2 year period, I tutored a number of children in the evenings on a one to one basis ranging in age from Primary 2 to Primary 7, and I developed very positive relationships with the families I worked with.

I have a degree in Speech and Language Therapy, and during university placements, often took on a teaching role working with children one to one or in small groups; assessing and delivering therapy in a child-centred approach.

Tutoring Approach:

I believe using a child-centred approach is key to success. I consider what might interest and motivate the child in terms of resources and materials, and work at a pace appropriate for the child. It is important for the child to experience success but also to be appropriately challenged in order to reach their potential. I embrace a fun approach when working with children and would like to provide them with a positive learning experience.

Personal Description:
Hello!

I have been told that I am an inspirational and motivating teacher. I love people and am passionate about my work which I manage to incorporate into an exciting yet balanced life. When not teaching I spend my time painting, singing, swimming, reading and travelling. My fourteen year old son, Charlie, attends our nearest Steiner school in Garlinge Green where he is very happy, I am delighted to say!

Teaching Experience:

I have been to Art College and also studied the four year BA in education at Christchurch in Canterbury, qualifying in 1994. I am therefore a qualified primary school teacher. I taught in several different primary schools before taking on a position as a drama teacher in a local secondary school. ( I have always been excited about all subjects and thus very happy to teach anything and everything!)

I was Head of Art at a local prep school for seven years, a super job, which I thoroughly enjoyed. I have spent a few years teaching children with special needs which also gave me tremendous satisfaction, especially with regards to the social development of the children.

I am now working as a supply teacher as the flexibility suits my lifestyle perfectly.

Tutoring Approach:

Working with a person on a one to one basis is a luxury that has so many advantages. Unless, it has to be said, you are learning hockey skills, or something similar! Time is valuable and expensive, so, although relaxed, I am keenly aware that there is a lot of work that can be accomplished in one hour... the sense of satisfaction gained from work done, progression and obvious good results lead to a huge surge in confidence. It is my belief that it doesn't matter what area/field this is, only that it takes place, again, age is irrelevant too, five or fifty five, success is success and it makes us happy!

Personal Description:
I am a 29 year old female. I have worked with children for a number of years now in the mainstream high school setting. I'm always studying myself, I recently completed a basic counselling skills course and I'm currently in the middle of an art-it's place in therapy course.

I'm currently working within a mainstream high school as a communication support worker, for students on the autism spectrum. I am enthusiastic and passionate about education. I want to support my students to achieve their full potential.

I am available during school holidays for tutoring during the day, or it's evenings and weekends.

Teaching Experience:

I started working with inclusion doing art projects with students who have behaviour difficulties; then went on to be a teaching assistant supporting all academic areas on the curriculum with children aged 10-17. I can differentiate work down to very low levels and am aware of the current curriculum. I have worked with students of many abilities and was a key worker for a child who's Downs Syndrome.
I still work in mainstream but I'm now a specialist in autism, working with children on the autistic spectrum daily. I am aware of the challenges my students face with accessing work on the curriculum as well as the social side of things.

I have also supported my school by covering art lessons and helping students with coursework and homework.

I offer tutoring in the following areas:
-Reading & Writing Skills: reading feedback and writing for coursework (essay, report, article for publication, research)
-Study skills: how to read critically and how to write, making presentations, etc.

-Craft & Design: design process, presentation/rendering, Design and Technology, paper craft

-Art: Acrylic painting, Drawings and Rendering, Making Physical and 3D Models and crafts, Sketch book, Design Portfolio ( to help developing your portfolio for college or university interviews)

-Special needs: Differentiation for any subject up to GCSE/A'level and within the arts at university level working with students on homework, coursework and presentations who have learning difficulties.

Tutoring Approach:

I always wanted to be an art teacher, that's why I went to university, but over the years working in a school I realised what I could achieve by remaining at the support level. I can give more of my time to small groups and 1:1, a lot more than a teacher can as I don't have all the paperwork and other commitments to many students that they have.

My aim as a tutor is to make art accessible and give my students confidence. Over the years I've seen lots of students feel like their work isn't good enough; I can support them by teaching the basic skills and building on their existing knowledge.

I am a very patient & positive tutor who can explain concepts in a way which can be understood by my students.

Personal Description:
My name is Francesca (Frankie). I currently teach part-time in a school in torquay. Teaching is something I am hugely passionate about. I love being able to help support students and give them the confidence to say `I can do this!` My enthusiasm for teaching and learning is shown through my lessons where they are creative and more importantly fun (even if it means that we need to get the sweets out to help with our number work). I am also a doting Mum to my 1 year old daughter.

Teaching Experience:

I graduated with a (BEd) Primary Education Degree from the University College St. Mark and St. John in 2011. I was awarded an OFSTED equivalent "outstanding" grade for my final teaching placement.

I have worked within the classroom setting ranging from age 4 up to age 11 in both mainstream and Special Educational Needs schools in Torbay. I am currently teaching part time in a school in Torquay which has an age range from 2-19 years old. I have taught in both the primary and secondary end of the school.

Tutoring Approach:

My teaching styles and approaches are tailored around the individual learning needs and styles of the student. I find that teaching students according to the way they learn best is the key, so if your child remembers well through games, songs, writing notes down, or using objects then that`s what we will do. If students are expected to sit SATs or the 11 + I will take these steps carefully and in a way that they can manage. As long as the student is happy and feeling more confident then their learning will progress and self esteem will boost as a result.

Importantly, you will be given feedback after sessions through email. Drinks and snacks are provided in each session to help provide some extra energy (especially if they have been at school all day).

Weekly group tutoring sessions currently running for 11+ support at a lower rate of 15 p/hour. Contact me for more information
1:1 tutoring sessions for 11+, SATs preparation or general Maths and English support 20 p/hour.

Personal Description:
I am a friendly, calm and patient teacher with a variety of experience that I am able to bring into my classroom by day, and in tutoring outside of school hours. I have worked with students from primary to university level, as well as tutored adult ESL students during my time living abroad.

As a secondary school teacher, I have high expectations of my students and like to push them to their full potential and keen to inspire confidence and faith in their ability. I thoroughly enjoy working with students one to one when I am able to personally tailor teaching to the learner's level at a pace that suits them. I currently work in a successful 'outstanding' school, therefore, I have a very strong English department where I am able to gain resources and skills I can bring to my tutees.

I am passionate about inspiring confidence and belief, and love exploring my subject with others; opening their minds to alternative approaches and guiding the way. I use a lot of humour in my lessons and like to create a calm, relaxed and enjoyable environment and get to know my students as individuals. Having spent much time with a personal tutor at GCSE to overcome my fear of Mathematics as a teenager, I have a personal understanding of the empathy and patience required by a tutor, as well as a passion to enable my tutees to reach their goals and develop confidence in themselves.

Teaching Experience:

After graduating from Roehampton University with a 2:1 in English Literature and Theatre Studies, I went on to work as a Teaching Assistant in SEN working with students with a range of needs, but focused on teaching students with Dyslexia/Dyspraxia, which then became my research focus for one of my assignments during my PGCE teacher training.

I have since taught in a wide range of schools; I left Britain to work abroad in an IB international boarding school, PTIS Chiang Mai, as a Boarding Houseparent and ESL/SEN teacher, as well as tutoring seniors completing their final IB projects. In the evenings, my responsibilities included tutoring boarders aged 9 - 19 for all subjects. After my one year internship, I taught in a British international school for two years, Varee International Chiang Mai, where I taught KS3/4 IGCSE English and SEN and was lead assessor for entrance tests for ESLstudents. I also tutored adult Thai learners English outside of my school hours as part of a language exchange to help me to develop my Thai.

Since returning to the UK, I have taught KS3/4 History and Geography, and now KS3 - KS4 English in an outstanding secondary academy in West London.
I am a flexible teacher in terms of subjects covered, but English/literature, grammar, ESL and study skills are my core areas.

Tutoring Approach:

When I first meet a new student, I conduct an initial assessment to be able to adapt my lessons to the individual needs of the student.
I have very high expectations of my students, so push when they feel like 'giving up', but practise compassion when they need support and encouragement. With confidence and patience, they can find a way.
I may on occasion set small homework tasks (if the student does not have too much with their school already) to continue learning between sessions. I will often ask a student to e-mail this to me before our next session so I can give feedback and work on mistakes for our next session, thus maximising learning in our short sessions.
I have a fun approach to my teaching as this is vital to engage young learners, as well as for my own enjoyment of sharing my passion for my subject.

Personal Description:
I am 54 years old and I have been a self employed tutor for over five years. I live in Nelson and always travel to the homes of my students. I have taught students from 8 years of age to adults and all ages in between. I love tutoring my students, because it is teaching in its purest sense without all the pressures of teaching in school.

Teaching Experience:

I have been teaching since 1989. I have taught in local secondary schools, including more than 10 years in a school in Burnley. I have worked in primary schools on a supply basis. I have a great deal of experience in teaching pupils and students with educational issues, pupils with statements of SEN, both behavioural and educational. I have a proven record of boosting grades at both GCSE and Key Stage 2 SATS. More recently I have tutored and mentored pupils studying for their 11 plus exams particularly for Clitheroe Grammar School.

Tutoring Approach:

When tutoring my students, it is crucial to establish a relationship with not only the student but the rest of the family. This helps establish a relaxed, and workmanlike atmosphere quickly so that progress can be made quickly. I spend the first few lessons establishing specific areas that need attention within the subject/s I am teaching. I am very well resourced with both text books and worksheets specifically designed for each student. I am well prepared for the new GCSE Maths syllabus and provide text books for pupils taking the 11+. I set homework by negotiation, and try to mark it before the next lesson, distance and time constraints allowing. Where possible I try to liaise with my student's teachers in school, but this can prove difficult.

Personal Description:
I am a qualified primary teacher and have worked in a variety of educational environments, including additional support needs and with children and young adults with severe and complex needs. For the past two years I have been teaching in an international school in Mexico.

I am currently studying an MSc in Applied Psychology.

Teaching Experience:

I have taught in a variety of educational establishments over my career and have had the privilege of working with a very diverse group of learners. Recently, I have been working in a bicultural and international school in Mexico City as a teacher and ICT coordinator. The children I taught were all Mexican and had Spanish as their first language, which afforded me the opportunity to learn Spanish. I developed and adapted the curriculum material I used, and my own teaching practice, in order to better facilitate learning opportunities for this group of learners.

Over the past three years, I have been involved in two school inspections with excellent results. Whilst working for one service, I developed a range of assessment material which was praised by Education Scotland inspectors. Indeed, some of our teaching and assessment practices, which I helped develop, were labelled 'sector leading'.

Tutoring Approach:

My aim as a tutor is to facilitate a deeper understanding in my students so that they are able to tackle new and unfamiliar problems.I start with areas the students are comfortable with and move gradually towards more complex areas as their confidence builds. I use questions and examples to check understanding throughout the lessons. I am a flexible practitioner and adaptive to diverse learning needs.
