Personal Description:
I am 33 years old and currently live in London. I am originally from Derbyshire in the north of England. Before becoming a teacher, I worked with children aged between 2 and 12 in a variety of environments. I enjoy sport and run and coach the school Year 6 football team, I also enjoy playing tennis and swimming. I have worked with children of various ages for the last six years and have been a qualified teacher for 5 years.

Teaching Experience:

I am a fully qualified primary school teacher and currently preparing a Year 6 class for their 11+ exams in West London. I have 5 years experience in teaching during which time I have taught Year 4 (8/9 year olds), Year 5 and Year 6 (10/11 year olds, final year at primary school). Last year I underwent training for a one-to-one teaching programme, which involved working with individual children, each for an hour a week. As a full time primary school teacher, I teach all National Curriculum subjects including Maths, English and Science, I also have experience teaching the 11+ syllabus. I was also the ICT coordinator at a previous school and excel in the subject knowledge and teaching of this subject.

Tutoring Approach:

I believe that patience, flexibility and a desire for a child to reach their potential are key to being a successful tutor. Children need to be extended and pushed to ensure that they are not just doing the minimum to succeed, but the best that they can possibly do. I believe that my approach to tutoring is a balance of patience and persistence which is very successful in getting results. I am flexible in the way that I tutor, meaning that I can use a variety of teaching styles to suit the individual child's needs. No two children are the same and therefore each child learns in a different way. I am sensitive to the individuals needs and am able to find the best way for them to reach their potential.

I AM ALSO ABLE TO TUTOR FOR THE 11+.

Personal Description:
Are you worried about your child's progress in Maths or English? Do you want your child to go to a Grammar School? Would you like your child to achieve their potential? I can help.
I am an enthusiastic teacher who has a wide range of experience as a teacher, headteacher and an SEN Adviser with primary aged children. I love seeing children progress and become more confident in areas in which they have previously struggled. I keep myself constantly informed of new and exciting ways to motivate children and achieve their potential.
Exceptional Teaching, in my opinion, is a natural craft that some people have and others simply don't. I come from a family of teachers (my mother and also my sisters are teachers). It is a profession I have always enjoyed and have a special passion for. The bonus of course, is excellent grades.

Teaching Experience:

I have been in education for over 25 years, as a teacher, a Headteacher and an SEN Adviser. I have been fortunate enough to work in a range of excellent schools where I have taught all year groups. I pride myself in being able to help children, whatever their needs or abilities, to love learning and achieve their potential. I have tutored 1-1 for the last five years and have good relationships with the children and families that I work with. These children have gone on to achieve excellent results in their chosen areas e.g. improved confidence, improved attainment, achieving SATS levels 4 and 5 and succeeding in entrance exams for Grammar, Wide-ability and Independent schools.

Tutoring Approach:

My personal attitude towards all learning (especially tutoring) is that all children are entitled to a high quality education, which is tailored towards children's individual needs, so that they are able to make sufficient progress and enjoy their learning. I approach tutoring with a positive, can do attitude. I tailor each session to the individual child's strengths, weaknesses, interests and goals. I believe anyone can do well; it's just a question of finding the right way to learn it. One of the things that I find prevents children and adults from learning, particularly Mathematics, is the feeling of being rubbish at it. Your mindset certainly influences how well you do and once you are relaxed you learn so much better. I employ a combination of direct approaches and child-centered approaches when giving individual tutoring support. I am a very committed person, and will always strive to make sure that all children who are tutored are able to achieve their potential.

I am flexible, friendly and approachable person, having a key commitment towards high quality teaching and learning for all children. I firmly believe that different people learn in different ways, so no one way will suit all. You probably know more than you think, we will just work to make sure it can all be communicated. I look forward to discussing your child and how I can help and develop their potential.

Personal Description:
I am a practising artist working primarily in ceramics from my studio in Eastbourne. Currently, my main work is my own ceramics and art, but I am passionate about my subject and wish to share my skills with others. My skills are quite broad and a stint in an art library means I have good contextual knowledge. I love teaching ceramics and sculpture and some easy low tech printmaking. I am able to offer teaching in your home or in my studio, depending on which is most appropriate.

Teaching Experience:

I am a fully qualified teacher with over twenty years of teaching experience to a wide range of students. I am experienced in teaching art at GCSE level and to adult students. I have run courses in ceramics, photography, and printmaking and am experienced in teaching painting and drawing as well. In the last few years I have been teaching art to students with Dyslexia, Dyspraxia, ADHD and Aspergers gaining 100% A* to C GCSE passes.

Tutoring Approach:

Firstly, I would find out what your needs are and how I could meet those needs with my tuition. A series of lessons can be devised to meet those needs and personal progress will be reviewed on a week by week basis. This might be that you need to improve drawing skills to succeed or improve a grade at GCSE. A younger child might want to learn about painting and using colour, light and shape. You might be an adult wishing to learn how to make some fabulous pottery. For those with additional needs it might be finding ways to realise their visual ideas and develop confidence and understanding. I encourage, support and offer practical advice, skills and solutions.

Personal Description:
Hello, I live in Rainham and have three children and one grandchild, whom I adore. I enjoy working in my garden growing vegetables and roses, I enjoy water colour painting and sewing quilts.

Teaching Experience:

I have 10 years teaching experience in the primary sector, (years three to six) and am currently working part-time in a secondary school teaching GCSE English and key stage 3 maths. I have been teaching there for the three years now. I,m also part of Top Cat Tutors. We tutor pupils from year two to year eleven, for English and maths and up to KS 3 science. We have fully equipped classrooms with loads of resources. All my pupils have made significant progress both in their work and their confidence.

Tutoring Approach:

My approach to teaching is fairly traditional but creative, I assess new pupil's current levels, then plan the next steps with them. I engage my pupils at all levels of their learning as I believe this encourages them to be learners. I praise and encourage my pupils for excellent work. however if a pupils struggles to understand a concept, I will find a way to explain the task so that my pupils does understand and can achieve, which in turn enables them to make progress. I set homework to consolidate what has been taught.
My pupils constantly make considerable progress: as their subject knowledge improves so their confidence grows.

Personal Description:
I am a 35-year old American trained teacher who has both mainstream and special school teaching experience in England and America. I earned my bachelor's of science degree in instrumental music education (primary & secondary) from Towson University in the US, and my master's of philosophy (research degree) in inclusive and special education from Cambridge University here in England. For the past six years, I have been the music teacher at an Ofsted-rated outstanding special needs high school in Harrow, and the best part of working there is providing the students with as many opportunities to enjoy and express themselves through music as possible.

Teaching Experience:

I am in my 16th year of teaching music. In the past, I have taught private percussion, vocal and piano lessons, as well as various percussion ensembles, wind ensembles, orchestras, marching bands and choirs. Additionally, I am very knowledgeable in the area of music theory, ear training, composition and arranging, and am familiar with composition software such as Sibelius and Finale. When earning my bachelor's degree, I had to focus with a main instrument (percussion) but was required to learn the basics for all the most common instruments in the brass, woodwind and string families, as well as learning basic guitar and keyboard skills.

I have worked specifically with students identified with special needs for almost seven years, four years in England at a special needs high school in Harrow and nearly three years in a co-teaching environment in a primary school in the US. Additional supports such as building on fundamental language skills, mathematics essentials like money management or telling time, general life skills, independent learning skills and social skills are some of the areas with which I would be happy to help. I have previously worked with students identified as having mild, moderate and severe learning difficulties, emotional, behavioural and social difficulties, visual impairments, hearing impairments, physical disabilities, developmental delays, traumatic brain injuries, limited speaking ability or non-verbal forms of communication, and students on the autism spectrum, as well as students with other conditions.

Tutoring Approach:

I find both teaching and learning to be exciting, fun and enriching, and my passion for my subjects helps my students to get joy out of learning too. My attitude towards learning is to make lessons as interesting, engaging and relevant to my students as I can. One of the main benefits of one-to-one tutoring is that everything can be tailored to the needs of the individual, so getting to know my students and what works best for them and their learning is as important as enjoying the learning process.

I have over 6 years of teaching experience at the University of Warwick and have been providing private tuition for over 2 years. During 'A' level resits in January 2013, my current cohort of tutees have all achieved grade 'A's or A * having previously attained Cs, Ds or even Es. All of my students have subsequently secured places at their first choice universities having received outstanding 'A' level results. I have taught in a variety of formats including large group lectures, seminars and one-to-one tutorials. I have also delivered a great deal of individualized study skills sessions for students, including those for whom English is a second language. I have also undertaken numerous courses through the University of Warwick's Learning and Development Centre and the internationally renowned Centre for Creativity and Performance in Teaching and Learning (CAPITAL). I have studied for and obtained the university's teaching qualification for Higher Education (Postgraduate Award: Academic and Professional Practice) and I am an Associate Fellow of the Higher Education Academy, member of the Institute for Professional Tutors and member of The Tutors' Association. I also hold a City & Guilds 7302 Certificate in Delivering Learning, so potential tutees / parents can be assured that I have both the experience and qualifications to deliver first class, highly individualized learning across a wide variety of levels from GCSE to postgraduates.

Tutoring Approach:

As a dyslexic myself my teaching philosophy centres around the needs of each individual student rather than attempting to adopt a 'one size fits all' mentality. I see each students needs and learning styles as being unique, and I adopt my tutoring styles accordingly. More generally, however, I am an ardent believer in keeping things as simple and informal as possible, and I pay particular attention to the careful, logical, methodical sequencing of ideas in order to structure learning, revision and knowledge retention in the most productive and readily assimilated manner possible - a strategy which has derived in part from my own research into dyslexia. I am approachable, very friendly, innovative, flexible and informal, so students who perhaps feel let down by the mainstream education system would particularly benefit from my approach.
I ALWAYS arrange to see students for an initial meeting once contact details have been exchanged in order to fully explore what the student / parents are aiming to gain from private tutoring and to discuss what approaches, learning styles and support is required. #THIS IS A FREE MEETING WHICH I OFFER ALL OF MY PROSPECTIVE TUTEES#

Please note that unlike some tutors, I am a SPECIALIST IN ENGLISH LITERATURE, LANGUAGE AND ACADEMIC WRITING ONLY - I DO NOT BELIEVE IN TRYING TO OFFER MORE SUBJECTS AS A MEANS OF MAXIMIZING INCOME!

Teaching Experience:

I am a qualified primary school teacher and I specialise in Mathematics. I completed my Bachelor of Science Primary Education degree at Leeds Metropolitan university, where I studied for 4years and successfully completed several placements in primary and secondary schools.

I have 5years private tutoring experience.
3 years of tutoring for entrance exams and 11+.
I also have 2 years of supply teaching experience across KS1-KS4.
Experience of supporting and tutoring children with special needs, such as dyslexia, ADHD, autism - currently working on a one to one basis with a special needs child.

I am confident in my teaching skills as I have helped several children achieve great results and pass grades for GCSE exams and 11+ entrance exams.

Tutoring Approach:

I take an informal approach when it comes to teaching. I encourage the social and moral development of children, through being a positive role model and building trusting relationships. I have also worked closely with the parents of these children, providing detailed feedback, information on targets and ways in which these can be achieved, and ensuring we work together to help the children achieve their targets, thus establishing productive relationships with them.

I recognise that greater results are achieved when there is a strong relationship between teacher and child. I also appreciate that all children have different needs and learning styles and so spend a lot of time tailoring my sessions to each individuals requirements.

Personal Description:
I recently completed my PhD in History of Art at University College London (UCL). I have published my research in a number of academic journals and edited book collections, and I am a practicing artist, currently based in Hulme, Manchester.

Teaching Experience:

I am a fully trained secondary school teacher, specialising in Art & Design and Photography at KS3, KS4 & KS5. I have 8 years teaching experience, including working as a specialist Learning Support Teacher, and in Special Needs schools catering for children and young adults with a range of special educational needs, from moderate learning difficulties to profound and multiple disabilities.

I have particular expertise in studio practice (art and design), digital and darkroom photography (theory, history and practice), literacy, social and vocational skills, as well as History of Art, Anthropology and History of Medicine at undergraduate level.

I am also experienced in teaching at undergraduate level, having taught gallery-based first year History of Art courses, for University College London's History of Art Department.

Tutoring Approach:

I take a one-to-one, flexible approach to learning and teaching, which first establishes the needs and goals of the student, and then sets out clearly structured strategies for achieving these goals. These may be results-focused when preparing for exams, or aimed at developing a broader understanding of a subject area, depending upon the student's own priorities. I am happy to work with any course materials the student may provide, and I am familiar with all current GCSE and A Level syllabuses. I can also provide practical tuition for students who are preparing their art portfolios for University submission.

Tutoring may take place at the student's home, or at my art studio in central Manchester, where I can provide a range of art materials and resources by prior arrangement, for more intensive practical art sessions.

I have had recent successes with my private students, one of whom attended one-to-one sessions at my Manchester studio for 8 weeks and improved her predicted GCSE Art result of a B by two grades, achieving an A* in her final art exam.
