Personal Description:
I am a 32 year old female professional, with a First class Honours Psychology degree and full Primary teaching status, as well as specialized experience, skills and knowledge in working with children and young adults with severe learning disabilities.
I am well-traveled and moved to Brighton in the summer of August 2008, to experience life near the sea within the UK. I have also lived in London, Australia and New Zealand.
I practice Hot Yoga and am a keen runner as well as a scuba-diver.

Teaching Experience:

I am in my ninth year as a qualified teacher and have worked within education of young people, particularly those with special needs, since I was 16.
I worked within a nursery over a 3year period, covering sickness and holiday relief, caring for children from all ages between 6months-5 years.
I have taught in all Primary year groups and currently have a Key Stage 1 and 2 class, specializing in Autism. I am up to date on many special needs provisions and have strong behaviour management skills. I am also a middle manager and the lead teacher for Literacy and Numeracy, for students ranging from age 5 to 19 years of age.

Tutoring Approach:

Learning should be enjoyable, interesting and applicable to real-life. Education lacking these elements will not, in my mind, endear itself to young people.
I am fair and consistent and expect high standards from all my students. I will always endeavour to cater for personal needs and to make learning individualized and therefore accessible.
I will not accept laziness but I will accept honesty - if a student finds something difficult, they know to tell me in order that I may assist them and overcome that particular hurdle.
When I am tutoring at GCSE and adult level, I also endeavour to make the sessions motivating, but ensure they are more student-lead and will scaffold the sessions but find tutees have more success when they are able to be guided rather than dictated to.

I work also for the YDS as leader in charge at a youth club in Polegate, we have a number of challenging members from the travelling community. I am very patient and will find a variety of ways to make a point or help someone learn something. I believe in praise rather than punishment and try my best to ignore most bad behaviour and instead focus on the good, that said I am not afraid to challenge if and when necessary i.e if behaviour is dangerous or anti-social.

I graduated in 2006 from Queen Mary University of London after achieving a 2:1 in English and History. It took me a couple of years before I found my passion for teaching, a passion that was made even more acute, by having worked in more conventional jobs, which I didn't enjoy after leaving university. I have a passion for horses and horse riding and have a young horse, I love writing, reading, cooking and walking my dogs as well as teaching. I love living in the country and taking part in all aspects of country life.

Teaching Experience:

I began my career teaching in Andover as a full time primary school teacher. I started off in Year 5 and progressed into Year 3. I have tutored a variety of different children:
Child 1: 2010- present, 16 year old (Autistic), GCSE Geography, English Literature, Science, Maths and Environmental Science. B-Tec in Countryside management.

(September 2013) As I`ve moved into my fifth year as a qualified teacher, I have now settled into a different school in Ringwood and am back in Year 5 enjoying supporting a wide variety of different abilities of children.

Tutoring Approach:

I have a very individualised style and approach to tutoring. I believe that each child is completely unique and that if you find the right key, whether its jumping on a trampoline whilst reciting their times tables or making a colourful mind map to understand how the bodies immune system works, you can unlock their understanding. I enjoy tutoring because you see children really blossom and the progress they make with one on one support is truely astounding and lovely to be a part of. I am a 26 year old Primary school teacher with a range of experience working with children and young people. Teaching Experience:

Before embarking on teacher training, I worked as a teaching assistant in both primary and post-primary settings. I provided support to children with English as an additional language and with special educational needs in both settings. I was responsible for planning, setting targets and assessment of the children I worked with. I also supervised a Homework Club, providing assistance to post-primary children in various subjects including children with special education needs and those who are gifted and talented. During this 2 year period, I tutored a number of children in the evenings on a one to one basis ranging in age from Primary 2 to Primary 7, and I developed very positive relationships with the families I worked with.

I have a degree in Speech and Language Therapy, and during university placements, often took on a teaching role working with children one to one or in small groups; assessing and delivering therapy in a child-centred approach.

I am a fully qualified secondary school art teacher, and university lecturer in History of Art. I completed my PhD in History of Art at University College London (UCL) in 2013. I have published my research in a number of academic journals and edited book collections, and I am currently a Research Fellow at Cornell University Society for the Humanities, USA.

I'm currently based in the United States until December 12th 2016, and I'm presently offering Skype tutorials only until this time. As of December 12th - January 13th I will be based in Hulme, Manchester and can travel up to 20 miles from the city centre, or meet students at my central Manchester art studio. I'm available for Skype appointments at any time, taking into account the time difference.

Teaching Experience:

I am a fully trained secondary school teacher, specialising in Art & Design and Photography at KS3, KS4 & KS5. I have 10 years teaching experience, including working as a specialist Learning Support Teacher, and in Special Needs schools catering for children and young adults with a range of special educational needs, from moderate learning difficulties to profound and multiple disabilities.

I have particular expertise in studio practice (art and design), digital and darkroom photography (theory, history and practice), literacy, social and vocational skills, as well as History of Art, Anthropology and History of Medicine at undergraduate level.

I am also experienced in teaching at undergraduate level, having taught gallery-based first year History of Art courses, for University College London's History of Art Department, and on the History of Art degree programme at the University of Manchester.

Tutoring Approach:

I take a one-to-one, flexible approach to learning and teaching, which first establishes the needs and goals of the student, and then sets out clearly structured strategies for achieving these goals. These may be results-focused when preparing for exams, or aimed at developing a broader understanding of a subject area, depending upon the student's own priorities. I am happy to work with any course materials the student may provide, and I am familiar with all current GCSE and A Level syllabuses. I am able to guide both GCSE and A Level students through their studies, offering consistent, dedicated 1-2-1 tuition for the full term of the course. I can also provide practical tuition for students who are preparing their art portfolios for University submission, and can offer assistance with UCAS forms and references for students who undertake long-term A Level tuition with me.

Tutoring may take place at the student's home, or at my art studio in central Manchester, where I can provide a range of art materials and resources by prior arrangement, for more intensive practical art sessions. Please note that I can travel within 20 miles of central Manchester based on the fee structure quoted below, travelling further will incur a small additional fuel fee.

I have had recent successes with my private students, one of whom attended one-to-one sessions at my Manchester studio for 8 weeks and improved her predicted GCSE Art result of a B by two grades, achieving an A* in her final art exam. My most recent undergraduate students have also attained First class results in their undergraduate degrees. One student achieved a high score of 78 on her History of Art dissertation project with intensive tutorial support conducted via Skype; and another progressed from a fail during the first year of his Visual Communication degree, to a First class final result in his third year, following 2 years of regular commitment to one-to-one tutoring.

*Please note that due to the time-intensive nature of undergraduate level tutoring, I am only able to take on a maximum of three undergraduate tutees at any given time. Please see below for my current availability for tutoring at this level.*

I live in Cumbria and have a range of work experiences to draw on, including researching for the BBC daily survey and the Centre for Social Policy Research and Development. I have also worked as a housemother for children with learning difficulties, as an advocate within the voluntary sector and as an advocacy development worker.

After gaining my PhD, my more recent work has been as an Education lecturer in higher education which has also involved me in a number of research initiatives, tutoring undergraduate and postgraduate students and working on research governance and ethics. I have a wide range of peer reviewed publications and a number of current book contracts. I believe education is a right for all people at all levels and that it is best viewed as a lifelong experience.

Teaching Experience:

I have worked at a college teaching A level Sociology and more recently at a Russell Group university for 8 years teaching a wide variety of topics to undergraduate and postgraduate students including sociology, social policy and politics, social psychology, social theory, person centred approaches, gender studies, disability theory, social research, critical thinking, communication & study skills. My last two national student survey results gave 93% and 100% for quality.

One very special working experience achievement was with children y3-4 and y5-6 in a primary school. I was not only teaching Italian Language but I was involved as producer and director of Goldilocks and the three bears in the Italian spoken language which has never been done before as a movie.

Actors were primary school children, which have been selected from the Head Teacher and me. I have trained them every week from March to April 2005 to play on different set. (Drama lessons included). The movie has been filmed in July 2005.

I am a friendly, calm and patient teacher with a variety of experience that I am able to bring into my classroom by day, and in tutoring outside of school hours. I have worked with students from primary to university level, as well as tutored adult ESL students during my time living abroad.

As a secondary school teacher, I have high expectations of my students and like to push them to their full potential and keen to inspire confidence and faith in their ability. I also tutored adult Thai learners English outside of my school hours as part of a language exchange to help me to develop my Thai.

Tutoring Approach:

When I first meet a new student, I conduct an initial assessment to be able to adapt my lessons to the individual needs of the student.
I have very high expectations of my students, so push when they feel like 'giving up', but practise compassion when they need support and encouragement. With confidence and patience, they can find a way.
I may on occasion set small homework tasks (if the student does not have too much with their school already) to continue learning between sessions. I will often ask a student to e-mail this to me before our next session so I can give feedback and work on mistakes for our next session, thus maximising learning in our short sessions.

I have just left my position as a Higher Education Ambassador and a Care Ambassador for Hampshire County Council and have worked with children and young adults for over 6 years; including mentoring, tutoring and supporting them throughout education and daily life. I was taught by my own head teacher how to prepare lessons and teach them, making them fun and enjoyable but also targeting areas which needed the most improvement.

I have been an active member of the homework clubs at all of my schools and colleges. I have also been a student mentor and student union representative offering to support to other students as well as friends and family who needed extra support especially in Maths and Drama.

I have plenty of work experience in schools catering to all ages, including some nursery and college work experience supporting children and adults of all ages to expand their knowledge and develop no matter the age.

Tutoring Approach:

I am kind and caring yet firm so I will base learning around the tutee and the support they need. I will help the young person by not only teaching them but helping them to develop the skills they will need in the future to be able to teach themselves and develop their knowledge.
I would like the tutee to feel comfortable during a session and I take a friendly approach, I do not intend to gain a friendship with the tutee but I find a fair, balanced and equal relationship is best for both the tutor and the tutee and for the best development and progress.
I will sit with the tutee and support them with a learning plan, targeting what areas they need most work with small tests at the end of a topic in order to make sure that they have fully grasped the knowledge, if they have not then I will take time to go over this again. I develop my teaching technique to each learner, if one is better with sheets and learning by the book I shall help them that way, if one learns with physical examples then I shall make sure that each learner is equipped with all they need to gain the relevant knowledge.

I feel that I would be a great tutor and I can connect with children for three reasons:

1. I'm not really old and I have siblings, so I know how to engage and make learning fun so they don't feel intimidated by a teacher appearance
2. I have managed to develop my own learning skills to suit my abilities and I work closely with each tutee to use their skills to improve their education. If they have learning difficulties, I show them how to use them to their advantage and find ways of learning that suits them.
3. I'm not perfect. I teach children that everyone is different and that being yourself is most important. I would never compare one student to another.

Having said this, I will aim to provide the best service of education I can, along with squeezing every ounce of potential out of each tutee so that they can ultimately reach or exceed their own goals and expectations so that they have the ability to get the best opportunities and have the best education possible.

Personal Description:
I am a native Greek speaking teacher with a QTS qualification, BA in Primary Education and MA in Special Needs. I am passionate with my job and I pursue my dream to be the best teacher possible. During my postgraduate studies, I have worked with children with various special needs and I examined the potential benefits of music to the interactions and behaviour of children with autism. I am committed to lifelong learning and I try to expand my knowledge by being qualified in several sectors that will be helpful in education.

Teaching Experience:

I have two years teaching experience in Greek and Cypriot primary schools and in Greek community schools in the UK as well as in private tutoring. I volunteered in a special school in the UK and I provided 1-to-1 support to children with autism, cerebral palsy, Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), social, behavioural and emotional difficulties (SEBD) and learning difficulties. I have been teaching Greek as additional language to bilingual and English speaking children and adults with various needs and different literacy backgrounds. I am committed to motivate English speaking students with Greek as additional language and build their confidence in expressing themselves in Greek language.

Tutoring Approach:

Educational material and interactive exercises based on modern communicative approaches are prepared before each lesson in order to develop my students' language skills and knowledge. I organise well-structured lesson plans that contain activities which cater for all learning styles. I use visual prompts and music to make the lesson interesting and inspiring. I take into account special needs, cultural backgrounds and emotional considerations. A variety of interventions for children with SEN are used in my teaching practice.
