Personal Description:
I am originally from Ecuador, South America and have gained proficient languages skills in both Spanish and English. Although I have been living in the UK for a number of years, I have kept in touch with my roots and culture. I am currently entering my final year at Aston University reading Business Administration and Spanish. Having been back from holiday in Ecuador and Mexico, I can say I have sharpened up my spanish skills and am ready to embark on teaching and sharing knowledge with anyone willing to learn.

Teaching Experience:

Interpreter and Translator.
The translation of various kinds of documents has helped me develop professional translation skills. I was able to prove my capability of expressing ideas clearly and effectively, both verbally and in writing.
Very good interpersonal and communication skills gained by interpreting at official occasions and on sensitive topics (e.g. hospital visits, court, Citizens Advice Bureau).

Tutoring Approach:

Being a student myself I feel I can relate much more to people currently undergoing education too. I am a very approachable person which means I can teach anyone eager to learn. Learning is matched up the the needs of the student, with speaking and grammer forming a great part of the teaching. Listening and reading will be implemented accordingly in each lesson. 4 elements vital to learning a language.I believe that practice makes perfect and with constant support and guidance, I am sure anyone is able to take on board a new language, being beginner or advance level. I am a very creative and interactive person that will encourage students new techniques of learning.

Personal Description:
I was born in Buenos Aires, Argentina, but I've been living in the UK for two years and have also lived in Barcelona in the past. I love meeting people from other countries and learning about different cultures.

Teaching Experience:

I'm an English-Spanish teacher and translator. I've got over 9 years of experience in teaching English and Spanish to children, adolescents and adults both privately and in schools. I've worked as a tutor at Brasshouse Language Centre (Birmingham) and the National Express headquarters for two years, and Aston University's Disability Unit.

As regards my education, I have a BA in TESOL and a BA in Translation and an MA in Translation in a European Context from Aston University, Birmingham, UK. My experience as a translator in an agency is beneficial for beginner learners since many times they may require equivalent phrases or structures in English.

Tutoring Approach:

My general lessons focus on four learning skills: listening, reading, speaking and writing. However, I can adapt them to cater for my student's particular needs. For example, my conversation classes are mainly communicative-based, since the aim of students is to be able to speak fluently in either Spanish or English. However, my A-Level or University students have a level of proficiency that requires a solid grammar base. The materials I use range from textbooks and newspaper articles to songs and movies.

At the moment, I am away from the UK and only offer lessons via Skype. Students usually ask me how effective these lessons are. In my opinion, online lessons can be as effective as face-to-face lessons provided both the student and the teacher have a good internet connection, the lesson is well laid out on a PowerPoint, additional exercise material is provided, and a versatile platform (such as Skype) is used. Some students prefer face-to-face interaction, while others do not mind using Skype and benefit from learning from home or wherever they are. If you want to learn from home or if you're a business person and cannot commit to a specific place, do not hesitate to give online learning a try. It is definitely worth it!

Teaching Experience:

When I was a law student in Costa Rica I taught English to children in private weekend classes in a public school. Personal Description:
I am a professional interpreter, translator and MFL teacher from Italy. I have been in the language sector for 5 years.
I love the world of languages and I love teaching.
Italian is my native language but I perfectly speak Spanish and English.

Teaching Experience:

I have been teaching English as a foreign language for 5 years. ( Levels A1 to C1 )
I am specialized in Trinity and Cambridge exams preparation.
Along with English I have always taught Italian and Spanish too.

Tutoring Approach:

I always tell my students to be brave, no to be afraid of being wrong when trying to communicate in the language they are learning.
I teach everyday language through the "play role" tecnique while I teach technical language through updated documents taken from International newspapers.

Personal Description:
I am a recent graduate of Creative Writing from the University of Manchester, where I studied both Creative Writing, and English language and literature. I love the English language, and greatly enjoy reading a wide variety of literature. I believe that my passion for teaching comes from this love of language.

Prior to this, I studied Spanish and Portuguese at the University of Sheffield. As part of my degree I was able to live and work in Pamplona, Spain for a year, teaching English as a foreign language. I also lived in Tenerife on my gap year. I love Spain and really enjoyed living in such an amazing country. I want to help others to learn Spanish so that they too can go there.

Teaching Experience:

I have experience of teaching both Spanish to English speakers and English to Spanish speakers. I taught English to Primary school students, while I was in Spain, in both group and individual study sessions. We covered basic conversation, grammar and writing skills, and by the end of the course my students were able to hold basic conversations and use key vocabulary and phrases confidently.

More recently I have been tutoring Spanish at beginner level to adults in Birmingham. I have devised a simple curriculum that can be taught in one hour or two hour sessions, with my tutees picking up the language and grammar quickly.

Tutoring Approach:

I absolutely love teaching English and Spanish, and I love studying them too. When I teach I like to teach in a relaxed atmosphere without pressure, focusing on the students individual needs. I believe that we learn best through our mistakes, so I encourage my students to try, even if they are not confident, and then we can review any mistakes that were made. I am very friendly, and am a good listener. I endeavour to help students achieve their goals, and all I ask in return is that you try your best.

Personal Description:
Hello.

I am a graduate of Cambridge University. I was previously at a successful, all-girls, private school.

I have top grades in a wide range of GSCEs. I took Spanish, Latin, Ancient Greek and General Studies at A Level and passed with high A grades. I have a first class degree in Classics and Oriental Studies (Middle Eastern and Islamic)

People describe me as friendly and sociable as well as organised and efficient. In my Cambridge college I held various positions of responsibility.

Teaching Experience:

I also have lots of experience as a private tutor teaching all ages and ability ranges.

Most recently I was working as a full time teacher of English at the National School of Aleppo, Syria. I had two grade 6 classes and 4 grade 10 and 11 classes.

During July '08 I taught English as a foreign language at a school in Dubai, UAE. I had my own form class but during the school day I saw 60 children between the ages of 11 and 15.

I have also taught Shakespeare-based workshops to English Primary School children and Japanese High School and University Students.

Tutoring Approach:

I am friendly and supportive as a tutor; encouraging my pupils to stretch themselves and achieve their best.

Although I am only young, I feel that I have the right amount of maturity to guide my pupils effectively, and I am also very approachable. Tutoring is not the same as teaching in a classroom, so I do not believe that a Tutor should be the same as a teacher.

Personal Description:
I am a fully qualified Spanish teacher and completed my PGCE in Spanish with French at Newcastle University in 2009. I then went on to gain Qualified Teacher Status in 2010. All of my teaching qualifications are up to date and can be produced, along with my current CRB form, in the first lesson.

I am fluent in Spanish and studied Law with Spanish at Nottingham University. This involved living for a year in Valencia which gave me a wonderful insight into Spanish culture. I then went on to spend a year teaching English in Peru, a country which I have returned to visit several times. I have also spent time living in Honduras where I undertook voluntary work in a Primary School. These experiences have made Spanish one of my great passions and I hope to pass this on to my students.

After working for several years as a Languages teacher in the North East, in December 2013 I decided to leave my post in a South Tyneside school to spend more time with my young daughter. This move will now enable me to spend more time on Private Tuition.

Teaching Experience:

Since 2009 I have worked as a Languages teacher in a number of schools in the North East. My responsibilities have included:
- Teaching Spanish at Key Stage 3 and at GCSE and A level
- Writing my own Schemes of Work
- Conducting and marking GCSE written and speaking controlled assessments
- Teaching all aspects of Spanish grammar at AS and A2 level
- Teaching Cultural topics for A2 AQA syllabus

Private Tuition:

Main highlights include:

- Tutoring a student who needed to re-sit her A2 Spanish paper to attend the University of her choice. This student was successful in her re-sit and has since gone on to study Spanish at University.

- Tutoring an English speaking student who had lived in Tenerife and was unable to study Spanish at his school on relocation to the North East. I solely tutored him through the AQA AS course in which he gained a grade A at the age of 13.
I subsequently tutored him throughout the whole of the A2 course, including both cultural topics.

Tutoring Approach:

I am extremely patient and considerate and always strive to get the best from my students. In my approach to exam preparation, I believe in the importance of consolidating learning through self study, homework and past exam papers.

Personal Description:
I am a very keen and enthusiastic university student and love to help others learn. I specialize with children and young adults. I am a good role model as I am bubbly, show confidence and balance my studying (Business Degree at Northumbria University) with my sports (rock climbing and snowboarding), work and social life.

I have a range of experience in childcare and tuition and find different ways for my pupils to understand the materials they are learning. I find ways in which they can relate to the information which helps them retain the information for longer.
I have had several years of experience with private tutoring producing great results such as a B at A level Business Studies (please ask if you would like a reference). I will be finishing my final year of studies mid May 2013 and will be available to teach from this time onward.

Teaching Experience:

All throughout my first and second year at university I was working at Explore Learning, a Maths and English tuition center designed to help children with their national curriculum between the ages of 5 and 14. This has given me valuable experience on many different teaching techniques as well as keeping up to date with the new learning strategies that children are using in their day to day learning at school.
My one on one tutoring experience ranges from A Level Business Students to Primary Maths and English including other topics such as Current affairs.
On a sporting level, I gained my Canadian Association of Snowboard Instructors qualification in 2009 and have continued to teach snowboarding over in Italy with Interski in my university holidays.

Quote from a reference: 'Rabia will definitely miss your cheery and happy persona. She has had other tutors but with nowhere near the enthusiasm and effort that you put in! She looks forward to you coming and has a real connection with you.'

Tutoring Approach:

I have many different approaches to learning, dependant on the age of the pupil. I like to use targets and rewards to keep motivation levels high and learning is fun by relating the subject to my tutee's everyday life. I ensure there are several reviews and assessments to enhance progression and keep on track.

Personal Description:
I am a qualified linguist, working as a translator, interpreter and personal tutor for languages - both Spanish and Portuguese, my second and third languages, and for English, my native language. Tutoring is a way in which I can use my passion for languages. Languages have always been important to me and this comes through in my tutoring. I have always loved to learn about other cultures, experience them, and passing on these experiences is also a source of great joy.

I have lived in Spain, Portugal and Brazil now and these were all times in my life that changed me. Every time I come back from having lived away there is something else that I bring away with me. I believe that my time abroad helps me to understand better the people, the culture and the language that I teach.

Teaching Experience:

I first started tutoring when I was 17 living in Spain au pairing for the summer, looking after a 5 year old girl. Then, when I completed my first degree in Birmingham 2009, I went to be an English language assistant in Extremadura for a year (2009-10). Here I taught at both a primary school and an adult language school, as well as private tuition classes to children of various ages. I really enjoyed my time there and since having returned to England I have taught Spanish, Portuguese and English on a private tuition basis. My students have included a girl who I taught a Portuguese GCSE in a year, gaining a B grade overall, with A grades in reading, speaking and writing. I was her sole tutor, classes at school were not available, so I was responsible for all her tuition, and taking her oral exam. I used to teach a South African couple who want to learn basic Spanish for when they are spending time at their holiday home in Majorca, and also a woman who wanted to learn Spanish to be able to speak to her boyfriend's family. As regards English, I taught Chinese girl who required English perfection classes and help with essay writing, as well as a singer who needed pronunciation refinement when performing songs in English. I also tutored a girl studying for her GCSE in 2012 who wanted extra help to get her that A, which she got.

Tutoring Approach:

I find that with tutoring you have to take differing approaches dependant on the students and their requirements. I try to tailor my classes to the needs, ability, and age of the students. I have a variety of teaching materials and develop new materials as needed. I try to make classes fun, whatever the purpose of the classes, and therefore try to make classes very interactive, either by encouraging debate or discussion, and also using visual aids, such as videos, music or newspapers, leaflets etc. from the appropriate country. I feel that with language learning the most important thing is to highlight the reality and the practical uses that languages have, and therefore I try to make the situations I use as real and useful as possible, and draw upon my own experience to bring them to life. I have extended experience of learning languages in a formal manner, which is great to apply when my students also learn in this way, but I also respect that some people do not, so I also make sure that my students have a say in how they learn best, and we try different techniques to ensure that classes run how they want them to run. Finally, I just want to say that learning languages is fun, and I believe that my enthusiasm is conveyed in what I do, which in turn means that my students are also enthusiastic and learn a lot with me.
