Personal Description:
I am British but have spent most of my life in Latin America. I resettled in the UK in 2015 and currently live in Birmingham. I hold a PhD in Ethnic and African Studies from a prestigious Brazilian university. In order to be accepted by the PhD programme, I had to demonstrate exceptional fluency in Portuguese, both written and oral. My BA in English from the University of California, Los Angeles (First/Hons) amply qualifies me to tutor in English literature.

Teaching Experience:

I am currently tutoring in Portuguese, English Language and Literature (GCSE, A-Level and Graduate) and English as a Second Language (ESOL) in Birmingham and nearby cities. I taught English as a Foreign Language (EFL) in Brazil for many years. I have also lectured in English and Translation at a Brazilian university.

Tutoring Approach:

I always attempt to establish a rapport with my students to keep them at ease, focussing on the positive before going on to point out areas where they could improve. I am aware that, especially when learning a foreign language, students can be extremely sensitive about making mistakes, so I use methods that are designed to be non-threatening and non-critical, but always constructive.

Personal Description:
I have many years of tutoring behind me and am currently studying for the Diploma in English Teaching to Adults.

I'm widely travelled and have spent many years living abroad. This has contributed to a high degree of fluency in Spanish and French. I acquire languages easily, being open to the cultures in which I find myself.

Teaching Experience:

I have taught exclusively in continental countries. One year in Finland, six years in Spain and two in Germany. In all cases the teaching took place in private schools or in company offices. Much of the teaching was 1 to 1, the rest being in small groups.

Tutoring Approach:

I believe that language acquisition takes place when the learner is relaxed and so my approach may be considered informal. The choice of materials is a joint decision. Good classes can take place with or without them.

I also favour a communicative approach, which entails giving a needs analysis to all my learners.

Personal Description:
¡Buenas! Me llamo Patricia y... ¡soy la profesora que estás buscando! Understood that? No? Then you really need my classes! :)

I am a bilingual Spanish and English teacher from Madrid, Spain, confident in my ability and passion to teach.
I am a sociable, dynamic, cheerful, self-confident and highly motivated with a responsible commitment to everything I carry out, especially when duties as an educator are concerned. I am a hard-working professional, enthusiastic about teaching but learning at the same time. I believe I am skilled in the design of challenging and innovative activities that address the diverse interests and needs of students. My goal is to motivate them by ascertaining their inner strengths, abilities and the activities that truly inspire them.

With over 7 years teaching experience, I have been teaching successfully English and Spanish at all levels (from 1 year old babies to adults), exams preparations, business classes, etc. My experience has provided me with an excellent background in the field of teaching, which is my passion, and has enabled me with the skills and methodology required to be a great teacher in every sense.

Through teaching, I get to live my passion, I love working with kids, teenagers or adults, regardless of the kind of student, there is no better feeling than to stimulate a person's social, emotional, physical and academic growth. I love the result of my job. Every day I am determined to help people realise how easy and fulfilling learning can be.

So, it doesn't matter whether you are 10 or 50, if you are looking for business Spanish classes, passing an exam, or just learning in order to go to our wonderful beaches and be able to order a paella at a restaurant! Whatever your needs are I will make sure our classes suit them perfectly! :)

Teaching Experience:

With over 8 years teaching experience, I have been teaching successfully English and Spanish at all levels (from 1 year old babies to adults), exams preparations, business classes, etc. My experience has provided me with an excellent background in the field of teaching, which is my passion, and has enabled me with the skills and methodology required to be a great teacher in every sense.

I had the privilege of being Head of the English Department at SLG Institute of Education and International Euro-American University during 5 years, in charge of all the English-related subjects teaching the language to adults at all levels required (on-site and on-line classes).

Regarding private tuition, I started working as a private teacher in Madrid where I developed my own methodology. After being in several schools devoted to pre-school and primary education, I decided to create something of my own by request of my private students who were increasing very fast. Thus, I created my own company of private teachers, that way I could reach more students as the feedback I had already received was extraordinary. It was an amazing experience in which I was responsible for a team of teachers working according to my method and materials (hired after a recruitment and training process led by myself).
As you can tell, when it comes to private classes I know what I am talking about!

I had the pleasure of becoming part of the academic team in Kids & Us, a very special international school meant for children from 1 to 13 years old. Its methodology is rooted firmly in natural language acquisition. Thanks to this great year being immersed in a kids world, I could learn a lot from them, such as techniques used in order to encourage student learning within this method, ways to establish good rapport¦ Always making certain the kids receive sufficient praise and positive reinforcement which fosters confidence for them to reach their full potential.

I began tutoring in the UK at all levels more than three years ago with great success as well as coordinating Spanish teaching in the school I worked for more than two years, here in Birmingham.

During this time I have been able to get to know the National Curriculum and focus on helping lots of students with the preparation for the A Levels and GCSE exams with proven great results.

I have taught Spanish to students of all ages, nationalities and backgrounds, at all levels. I have learned through my experience the main difficulties British students face when learning Spanish as a Second Language. For this reason, I will always make sure my lessons meet each individual`s learning styles and needs.

My teaching method is rooted firmly in the communicative and task-based approach developing your ability to speak, read, write and understand the language regardless of your level. And believe me, all of this can be great fun!

This year I was looking forward to a new challenge, therefore I decided to start a new personal project, I am opening my own Spanish Language Centre in the heart of Birmingham, The Jewellery Quarter. I really hope to see you all, either in the Language Centre or, if it is more convenient for your location, in my house where I also teach. ¡Nos vemos pronto! :)

Personal Description:
I am originally from Valencia in Spain. I am a mum with two children and i have a lot of experience of working with young people. I have a full CRB check available on request and I have held a full clean licence for over 10 years and commuting is not an issue. I can also provide references from families. I enjoy teaching Spanish to all ages and preparing people for their Spanish adventure.

Teaching Experience:

I have 4 years teaching experience in England. I currently teach students from the ages of 6-18 years old. I am confident with the GCSE specifications here in the UK.I also have experience with preparing students to sit their Spanish exams in both A-level and GCSE. I am currently working in a Secondary school assisting students with their written and spoken Spanish. Previously I assisted in a primary school in their Spanish lessons. The results of my students are excelents. In GCSC some of them have A* or 9. In A levels one of my students is going to study in St.Andrews, in Scotland.

Tutoring Approach:

I offer a fun approach to Spanish as I feel that adults and children alike learn better when they are having fun. I am also able to offer a Spanish cultural insite into the language many tutors are unable to, this is key to success in the GCSE exam as 25% is based on the Spanish culture.
I have experience in tutoring online.

Personal Description:
Hola! My name is Andrea, I was born and raised in Chile, South America, and I have been living in the UK since 2013. I am a paediatric physiotherapist and I recently graduated from University College London (UCL) where I did a master degree in Paediatrics and Child health.

As a Spanish native speaker who lives in an English speaking country, I understand the process and challenges of learning a foreign language. So, it doesn't matter the Spanish level in which you are, I would love to help you to improve your speaking and listening skills.

Teaching Experience:

My teaching experience has been mainly based in Chile where I gave lectures at the University for undergraduate students in Occupational Therapy. Moreover, I supervised students during their final internship at the children rehabilitation centre in which I was working at that time.

Tutoring Approach:

I studied English as a second language, so I know that every person learns in a different way. Therefore, all the lessons will be adjusted according to your needs and they will always be well structured. Having said that, I think that a speaking-listening approach can be more effective because it will allow you to create your own sentences, practicing pronunciation and getting the chance to make mistakes and learn from them.

In order to achieve better results, I will use different sources during the lessons such as websites, songs and if you prefer, other conventional methods of language learning (books).

Personal Description:
I am BA (Hon) graduate and Professional Freelance Translator, Interpreter and Private Tutor.
I am married with a 15-year old son.

Teaching Experience:

Following my degree, I returned to Spain to teach English for a year.
During the past three years I have taught French and Spanish on a one-to-one basis.

Tutoring Approach:

Based very much on what the learner wants to cover. Once we have agreed the initial starting point, I would advise that they purchase a suitable language course book with CD/DVD so that they will be able to consolidate what they learn in the relaxed but structured lesson with me, and also continue to listen, and speak in the chosen target language between lessons.
Although the lessons with me will be structured, I will go at the learners' own pace and ability, consolidating as we go along, and introducing fun exercises and games by way of revision, and also give constructive advice about what other resources can assist them.

Personal Description:
My name is Lauren, I am 18 years old, and I am currently a student at Coventry University studying Spanish BA Single Honours, with TEFL (Teaching English as a foreign language). I am originally from Dorset, where I studied Spanish at GCSE and A Level, acquiring an A* at GCSE and a B at A Level. I believe I am a hard working individual with every intention on making sure I achieve what I set out to do. I enjoy helping others, working, and socialising with my friends, and I get on really well with new people.

Teaching Experience:

In the past I have helped out with some younger classes at my secondary school when they needed some assistance in some of the classes. Also, as my sister is 5 years younger than me, I have always been the one helping her with homework, or helping if there is something she does not understand. This means that I have some experience working with people who are in the age group I intend to teach.

Tutoring Approach:

I believe in a structured hour of work where the pupil is thoroughly engaged throughout the session. I think that there is a lot of importance in learning 'discovery' which is where the pupil is not spoon-fed information, but rather encouraged to try and work out patterns in the language e.g. grammar. Obviously if the pupil gets stuck I will help them. I also think grammar is an important part of learning Spanish language due to all of the verb conjugations and gender agreements etc. Homework is also important as doing a little each day is definitely one of the best ways to learn.

Personal Description:
I am 22-years-old and I am currently undertaking a Master's degree in Development Studies at the University of Oxford. I graduated in July from the University of Leeds with a 1st Class Bachelor's degree in French and Spanish. I also hold a Professional Tutoring Certificate from the Tutoring Standards Agency, for which I was awarded a Distinction. I completed a term abroad in Granada where I took an intensive Spanish language course. There I acquired a level C1/2 according to the European framework of reference for languages. I spent one academic year in Paris where I was a British Council Language Assistant teaching English as a Foreign Language in two secondary schools in the suburbs.

Teaching Experience:

I undertook a seven month teaching placement in Versailles, France (October 2013 - April 2014), where I taught English as a Foreign Language in two Secondary Schools. I have also given private lessons since 2012, as well as teaching private English lessons in France. One girl I taught increased her grade from a B to an A* in her French GCSE oral. Furthermore, I assisted language classes at my school between 2009 and 2011 for years 7 - 11.

Tutoring Approach:

My approaches are various. Having completed my A levels and GCSEs relatively recently, exam technique is still fresh in my mind and I hope to be able to teach students how exams work as (perhaps unfortunately) this is very important these days. However I am a strong advocate of instilling the foundations of language, namely grammar and vocabulary, as this is how I learnt best and how you can understand a language. I also believe in immersing yourself as much as possible, for those who are serious about learning a language - by watching films, TV programmes, reading books and writing. Practice is vital if one is to achieve a high level and there can be no short cuts. I am also happy to work through topics in a textbooks and helping with exercises as, as mentioned earlier, practice really does make perfect.

Of course, lessons will be tailored to individual needs, and they can be as formal or informal as one likes: from straight grammar to half an hour of chatting for those who aren't learning a language for an exam, for example.

Personal Description:
I am a Spanish native speaker and I am fluent in English. I have a Bachelor's degree in Literary Studies from the National University of Colombia. I am currently completing my Master's thesis in Latin American literature in London having finished the taught components of my course at the University of Buenos Aires (UBA) in Argentina, where I was living for 2 years.

Teaching Experience:

I have been living in London for around 5 months now, since moving here in late July 2013. I have about 5 months experience working as a private tutor teaching Spanish as a second language to adults in London, as well as several months of experience teaching Spanish to some English speakers in Buenos Aires, Argentina. I have also worked as a teacher in Colombia for about 2 years, mainly in pedagogical projects for Secondary School students and teaching as a lecturer for some months on a degree course in Basic Education and Spanish language and literature in Bogota.
I have a wide range of professional and academic skills acquired in the areas of research, teaching literature and language, promoting literacy and proofreading.

Tutoring Approach:

As a Spanish teacher and Spanish language and literature postgraduate student, I can offer you not only a good training in the four skills of language learning (speaking, listening, reading and writing) but also an enjoyable way to learn through didactic materials based on literature, film and music as well as an approach to Latin American culture.

Personal Description:
I am a young spanish guy living in London, i came to this city to improve my English because i´m studying to be a teacher (English specialty). It´s a 4 years degree in the International University of La Rioja (Spain) and i complement my studies working part-time in a famous clothing store.
Five years ago i finished my Economics degree (4 years) in University of La Coruña (Spain) and also i did a course about Stock Market Analysis in University of La Coruña. I received a State scholarship to work in an Italian international company, where i had the chance to learn Italian as well. I did an Italian course in the Tourism School of Rimini (Italy).
I decided to star my teacher degree and change my personal career because i feel that it´s my vocation, i love to learn about everything and have the chance to pass on my knowledge to others. It´s something really pleasant.
As additional information i can say that i´m a quite person, very patient and i love the sports, i´m a sportsmen and i did the course to be a monitor leisure activities which has given me the opportunity to deal with many children and teach them so many different activities such as: Archery, kayak, canoeing and rowing...
Other information of interest is that i was football coach during 6 years in a Spanish football team, dealing with children between 5 and 12 years old. It was a good experience to learn how i can motivate the children to achieve their objectives.

Teaching Experience:

I´ve been working as a Spanish teacher in a language academy during 6 months, teaching people from Germany, France, and UK... (Adult people)
Also I've worked in a Primary School during 1 year as an English teaching assistant, teaching children aged between 3 and 9.
Apart from that i worked as a private tutor teaching different subject such as maths, English, economy, geography, history and Spanish. Teaching to students between 6 and 15 years old.

Tutoring Approach:

About my teaching philosophy, i believe that the student has to understand the problems and no just memorize. I always try to explain the subjects adapting the concepts to the real life, like that, the student will remember better the explanation.
For language classes i try to combine grammar, vocabulary and conversation. The conversation is one of the most important part to gain confidence and to speak fluently another language.
I always try to motivate the students to face the subject like something interesting and funny for them.
Concerning my availability i´m available Monday to Friday after 4:00 pm and weekends could also be negotiated. I´m glad to tutor in my home or commute to your place or find another location.

Personal Description:
I am a passionate teacher born and raised in Spain. I think everyone should be able to develop his/her skills, and this is why I decided to be a teacher. I have been teaching since I started my degree, as I find it really rewarding.

Teaching Experience:

I am a qualified teacher and Spanish native speaker. I love to teach since I started my degree, and I have been doing that since then. I have worked as a Spanish teacher at the University of Oviedo (Spain) and in a High School in Spain as well.

At the same time, I helped people who could not afford official classes to pass DELE exams with success.
For this reason, I adapt every lesson to the needs of my students.

No matter if you need Spanish for children, beginner, intermediate, advanced, day-to-day conversational Spanish, etc. I can help you.

Tutoring Approach:

I use a wide range of different materials to help my students to approach to Spanish, since there is not only one way to speak it. I also prepare complete courses depending on your needs, I work with small groups or one to one, and I provide all the materials with no extra cost.

Your level will be assessed free of charge on the first session, so we can start at the most suitable point.
