Personal Description:
I currently work in the legal profession and have completed the professional qualification to be a barrister in the UK.

I am 23 years old and was born and bred in the Midlands before settling in Cardiff 5 years ago!

I am approachable and am happy to answer any queries or questions before being booked by a tutee.

I am as keen to provide revision sessions and assistance as I am with normal tutoring sessions. I am also open to "group" revision at discounted rates for groups between 2 - 5 students.

Teaching Experience:

I have been a private tutor to GCSE students for over 2 years mainly in Maths and English.

In addition to private tutoring, I have ran many revision workshops at Undergraduate level and have assisted with teaching / training in my employed role.

I have a proven track record for assisting students beat their grades in re-sits.

Tutoring Approach:

I am a personal, adaptive, flexible, patient and motivated tutor who will let you dictate how you learn and how you spend tutoring or revision time.

My approach very much depends on the demands and requirements of the student in question. Some students like a "lecture style" where topics are just recovered that have been taught already by their formal education provider, some like "brainstorming sessions" and some like "practice practice practice". I can adapt to you - so let me know what you are after!

Here is a summary of the subjects I cover:

Maths

Whether its trigonometry, pythagoras, percentages, long multiplication, histograms, tavel/time graphs, shapes or number that give you headaches - I am confident and have proven results that I can improve your confidence and grades!

Sociology

I am happy to focus on topic knowledge or exam technique. I can improve your knowledge and reinforce the information you have been taught on theories (functionalism, Marxism, Feminism). Particular strengths lie in tuition of exam technique and essay structure, Sociology of the Family, Crime and Deviance and Education.

Geography

I can cover aspects of both urban and physical geography from population and shanty towns to rivers and ecosystems. I am happy to use my own materials of diagrams, summaries and other revision tools to assist students.

Law

I am confident in providing tuition covering all levels of law from GCSE up to Undergraduate level
I am happy to re-teach topics, I am confident that I can pick out a students strengths and weaknesses and I am happy to let the student dictate what topics need covering.
I have many resources including AQA A Level Law text book, past papers in a number of subjects, Undergraduate level text books and revision brainstorms etc

Personal Description:
I am a recent graduate from the University of Lincoln with a 2:1 graded BA (Hons.) Degree in International Relations. Thus my knowledge base covers politics, economics, history, sociology and criminology.

I also have extensive IT experience as well as A Level English, French, History and Drama.

Teaching Experience:

I have no formal teaching qualification, however, I have experience in tutoring small groups of pupils (aged 13-15) gained throughout my A Level studies, and I am perfectly willing and able to extend my tutoring experience to students aged up to 18 years.

Tutoring Approach:

I take a proactive approach to tutoring. Familiarising myself with the student's curriculum, and assessing their skills and weaknesses in relation to the subject.

In my own experience of learning, I find doing practical tasks (such as writing a book report) to be of far more benefit than simply reading a book and never looking at it again. I therefore prefer to engage students in task-based learning in order to enhance their skills.

Personal Description:
I have recently moved to Cardiff from Brisbane, Australia. I completed my Bachelor of Criminology and Criminal Justice at Griffith University, Brisbane. Additionally, I studied Japanese through high school and the first few years of university.

Teaching Experience:

While studying at university I worked as a private tutor for students aged 8-17 in my local area. During this time I covered subjects including: Japanese, Social Science, Maths, English and Religious Studies. In 2006 I completed my TESOL course which enables me to teach English as a second language to both children and adults. Finally, in my final year of university I was a mentor for a first year student. This role included helping them settle into university life, making them feel comfortable around campus and providing 2 hours each week to assist with any areas where they were struggling with their studies.

Tutoring Approach:

To begin, I like to identify the areas of the subject that need attention or an area that the student is particularly worried about. I then try to explain things in a different way than text books - trying to relate it to real life situations. I teach by example and feel it is important to move at the students pace ensuring that they understand something before moving on to something else. I believe I am patient, understanding and very approachable - all attributes that are essential to effective tutoring.

Personal Description:
Private Academic and Extra Curricular Tuition & Training- Various Subjects and Levels

Myself and my partner Gerard work from from home offering private tuition in a range of academic and extra curricular subjects at various levels to students of all ages, as well as some careers advice.

Based on the Lisburn Road in Belfast we offer one- to- one sessions from our very own living room or will travel to our students' homes depending on their location. For those further afield we deliver online tutorials by way of messenger, Skype or a method of the student's choosing.

First sessions normally consist of a consultation to assess the needs of the student and are offered FREE of charge.
As well as this we offer a pay as you go service, allowing for one- off or irregular sessions and allowing students to see how they get on with us without having to commit to the time and expense of a full course upfront. Various DISCOUNTS are also available.

We are committed to making ourselves available to students and/or parents in between sessions by telephone or email to discuss progress, help with short questions about homework, assignments, revision, course material or any other queries which may arise.

In the near future we are hoping to expand to offer further subjects and more advanced levels, as well as group workshops.

As mature postgraduate and undergraduate students with a family and other work commitments we understand the trials and tribulations of learning only too well and aim to cater specifically to each of our student's individual learning styles and personalities while offering a high level of support to help them achieve their goals. All tuition is delivered by ourselves. We are CRB checked and references are available upon request.

Sarah: "I tailor my teaching style and approach to the individual or group of individuals. I have always found it easy to relate to people of all ages and walks of life. I am a firm believer that everybody learns differently and that the standard classroom approach does not suit all students. In class situations I have been known to make use of as many different learning techniques as possible, including film, television, music, literature and contemporary media issues to enliven topics, provoke debate and help students relate their learning to everyday experience. I aim to give as much support and feedback as possible with work undertaken while encouraging independent thinking and learning at every step of the way. I believe that if learning is as interesting and enjoyable as possible that great results will follow!"

Personal Description:
Hello,

I am a 23 year old from the Old Trafford/ Stretford area of Manchester. I am a recent Law graduate from Lancaster university who is fond of reading, debating and discovering new things. I would say I am quite lively, not too difficult to get on with very ambitious but also with an equal dash of a patience for I am a patient individual. Although I am admittedly not fantastic at sports I do play badminton and football from time to time I can play a range of sports but those tend to be the main two. I am a massive fan of education and self development so I tend to be never too far away from reading a book or learning something new to further myself.

Teaching Experience:

I have mainly gained a lot of my teaching experience tutoring younger siblings and assisting the junior year students either at college or University with areas which they either required extra help on or further knowledge. Although my experience does seem some what limited I am confident that the contribution which I have made to those who I have helped has been substantial in helping them to progress onwards to the next stage and beyond. As such I would hope to expand this towards any student who desires to take me on board and to progress until they are ready for the task at hand.

Tutoring Approach:

I begin my approach with an analytical conversation with the student, parent or both in order to address in person individual to assess strengths and areas where we can develop a plan of action. I will aim to take each stage step by step until both you and I are satisfied that we are confident in understanding and explaining coherently the relevant information. I will be professional but understanding as patience dictates, most importantly any work set during the session will be wholly relevant, comprehensible and creative in order to match your needs.

Personal Description:
I am a PhD student in Archaeology and I have an MSc in Archaeology, an MA in Classical Archaeology, and a BA in Anthropology/Sociology with a minor in Religious Studies. I have been teaching and tutoring a range of humanistic subjects for more than 10 years.

Teaching Experience:

I have been teaching at university since 2003. I have taught Greek and Latin language, English, Archaeology, History and the Humanities. I have also done tutoring in Greek, Latin, Archaeology and History and have taught special university outreach courses to A-level students in Classics.

Tutoring Approach:

I am used to tutoring both one-on-one and in small groups and am comfortable tutoring a wide range of ages and academic levels. I am happy to let students set the tutoring agenda or I can construct a progressive learning plan to achieve student goals. I actively monitor student growth and give feedback that allows the student to target weaknesses. I work to create stimulating learning situations that allow the student to approach their subject from a new direction. I aim to incorporate larger academic skills, such as writing and researching skills, into the instruction of specific subjects.

Personal Description:
I am currently studying M.Sc. Design Ethnography at the University of Dundee, Scotalnd. I have a Masters (Hons.) as well as a Bachelors (Hons.) degree in Anthropology. I have completed my highschool education with Botany, Zoology, Chemistry and Physics as the main subjects. I have good communication skills in written and verbal English.

Teaching Experience:

I have nearly 2 years of experience in Private Tutoring for primary school children for pocket money while I was myself a student at the University.

Tutoring Approach:

I am highly influenced by Plato's dialectical methods of teaching. I prefer to invoke thought and discussion with my students and let them learn from each other's points of view apart from meditating around what has been written in their text books. I also prefer to use etymological approach for students to understand meanings of complex words especially used in Biology.

I prefer to identify students who need special attention and focus and spend extra time in grooming them and fulfilling their needs.

Personal Description:
Hello! My name is David and I am a recent graduate in Social Policy and Administration from the University of Bath. During my time at University I developed my interest in writing significantly. This was true both within my degree studies, where the vast majority of the degree assessment was through extensive essay writing, and through my extra curricular interests where I wrote for the local University paper. My writing spans across many different areas, from social, cultural and political writing to comedy sketches.

Teaching Experience:

I regularly taught at my local church Sunday School for children aged between 10 and 12.

Tutoring Approach:

I am a passionate writer, and I feel I can offer valuable guidance on essay writing, structure and language; whether it be for assessed coursework, for an extended piece of writing in timed exam conditions, or whether you are interested in generally improving your standard of written English. I offer a tailored tutoring service, catering for the unique needs of the client.
