Hello,

I am a 23 year old from the Old Trafford/ Stretford area of Manchester. I am a recent Law graduate from Lancaster university who is fond of reading, debating and discovering new things. I would say I am quite lively, not too difficult to get on with very ambitious but also with an equal dash of a patience for I am a patient individual. Although I am admittedly not fantastic at sports I do play badminton and football from time to time I can play a range of sports but those tend to be the main two. I am a massive fan of education and self development so I tend to be never too far away from reading a book or learning something new to further myself.

Teaching Experience:
I have mainly gained a lot of my teaching experience tutoring younger siblings and assisting the junior year students either at college or University with areas which they either required extra help on or further knowledge. Although my experience does seem some what limited I am confident that the contribution which I have made to those who I have helped has been substantial in helping them to progress onwards to the next stage and beyond. As such I would hope to expand this towards any student who desires to take me on board and to progress until they are ready for the task at hand.

It is important for tutees to learn at a pace that is comfortable for them. However, it is also very important to challenge tutees so that they can learn new things each time they study the subject. As a tutor I would challenge tutees not by answering their questions about the subject in detail, but by guiding them to find the correct answer themselves. I am a solicitor with over ten years of practice experience, eight of which are post qualification. I am currently on maternity leave. In relation to Sociology I acheived an A grade at A Level and continue to possess a passion and interest in this subject. I will provide revision notes and other learning materials to my tutees.

I have no formal teaching experience. I am tutored people at degree level, post graduate (LPC and BVC) A level and ILEX in Law. I have also developed effective exam technique which is useful in all subjects and at all levels.

When I have tutored previously I begin by establishing the level of the tutee and establish what their goals are. I then develop an action plan and usually divide the subject into small modules. Personal Description:
My name is Jennifer Ferguson and I am currently a student at the University of Dundee. My main degree subject is Politics but I also study History, Philosophy, Geography and European Studies. Currently in my second year I aim to become a Modern Studies Teacher within a high school.

Teaching Experience:
During my time at High School I tutored a Fourth year girl for her Standard Grade Credit Mathematics Exam. I also helped teach Modern Studies to a group of First and Second year students. At university I taught modern studies again at a local high school as part of a voluntary placement I undertook. As this is the subject I wish to eventually teach I am extremely passionate about it. At present I am also helping a small group of Polish students develop their English for university entry.

Tutoring Approach:
I have learned through my experiences that the key approach to helping someone achieve their potential is listening and adapting to specific needs. Together we will identify areas of further need and work together to ease bottlenecks of knowledge. Personal Description:
I graduated from the University of Warwick with an Upper Second-Class Honours Degree (2.1) in History and Sociology in 2009.

Currently I am finishing a Masters at the University of Nottingham, but I'm based in London working part-time for Save the Children UK.

Teaching is something I thoroughly enjoy and find very rewarding; I hope to continue working in education in the future.

Teaching Experience:
I have a great deal of teaching experience with both children and adults. In the past, I have taught people for whom English is their second language, as well as native English speakers.

For the past 9 months I have been tutoring GCSE Sociology and English. I have had good feedback from my tutee, and she has significantly improved her grades.

I worked for the Kumon Learning Centre for one year where I tutored children between the ages of four and twelve. After working there for four months I was promoted to Senior English Assistant.

In the summer of 2008 I volunteered as a foreign language teacher in South East Asia. In Vietnam I had two classes a day for which I had to prepare lesson plans. In one class I taught children between the ages of twelve and seventeen, while in an evening class I taught thirty adult learners (see picture). In Cambodia I volunteered for the Cambodian Children's Painting Project, a recognised NGO. I taught children basic reading and writing skills for five hours each day. My experience in Asia has given me great confidence in my teaching abilities with regards to both children and adults.

Over the past 6 months I have been conducting some research for the Nottinghamshire Domestic Violence Forum. This enabled me to help deliver educational sessions in schools about issues of domestic violence and healthy relationships.

Furthermore, I have a good grasp of the national curriculum, having worked for the examination board Edexcel.

Tutoring Approach:
I fully understand the paramount importance of education. I believe a teacher must adapt his or her skills to the particular needs of the tutee.

Creating an appropriate atmosphere for learning is crucial. As an approachable, friendly person, I hope to build up my students' confidence so they are able to excel in their studies, as well as enjoy them.

I want my students to enjoy learning. Depending on the age of the student and the subject being taught, games and quizzes can provide good tools for revision.

As a recent post-graduate student myself, I have a fresh and up-to date approach to teaching. I will spend the necessary amount of time outside lessons to ensure each session is well planned. Having worked for two years for a university confidential listening service, I am patient and responsive.

I find teaching extremely rewarding and strive to help each of my students succeed.

Personal Description:
I am a friendly and approachable tutor with over a years experience tutoring a range of subjects. I completed a BA Hons degree in Education in 2008, and I will be training as a teacher next September.
Education and teaching is a passion of mine and something I enjoy - I try to ensure that I make it an enjoyable experience for my pupils also!

Teaching Experience:
Whilst at university I completed work experience in a local special needs school, working with pupils one on one and in small groups, which was something I enjoyed very much. During this time I worked with pupils aged 7 - 11 years old.
I also took part in the Students Associate Scheme and worked in a local High School as a teaching assistant with pupils aged 11 - 16.
Since I left University I have been working as a Tutor at a local College, providing one to one support across a range of Btec, A-level and GCSE courses, which is something I enjoy thoroughly.

Tutoring Approach:
I think that it is important to make sessions interesting for the pupil and tailored to their individual needs and learning preferences. Sessions usually last 1 hour, apart from the first session which is up to 30 minutes. I do not charge for this initial meeting as it is more a time for me to get to know my pupil (and his/her parents where appropriate), what they want to get from our sessions and what thier current level of ability is.
I try to use a variety of resources during sessions, and will sometimes set 'homework' tasks where I feel it would be beneficial.
