Personal Description:
Aged 23, I am currently studying Medicine at Imperial College on the graduate entry course. In 2009, I graduated from Cardiff University with a 1st Class Bsc (Hons) in Biochemistry, gaining a prize for the best final year biochemistry project.

Outside the world of academia, I like to think of myself as a jolly chap and enjoy hobbies such as squash, photography and running.

Teaching Experience:
Having a 13 year old sister, I have spent a number of years tutoring her as she progresses through school. As both of us have mild dyslexia, I have developed and applied techniques both for my own and my sister's benefit, to make learning as effective as possible.

Tutoring Approach:
Having been tutored myself throughout in the years in a number of different styles, I approach tutoring with an open mind and would try to match the most appropriate learning techniques to the individual tutee.

Methods that I have found particularly effective include mind-mapping and rather fun A0 paper summaries using chunky pens and any analogies/mnemonics/queues that may come to mind! Most of all, I would encourage the tutee to be proactive in developing his/her own styles of revision, aiming to help them achieve their potential throughout their academic career.

Along side the sciences, I am also happy to offer advice on interview skills, based on my successful experiences in applying for biochemistry, medicine and an industrial placement at a leading Pharmaceutical company.

My 2009 Physics results have been excellent, with a 100% pass rate at A-Level and 96% of students achieving A* - C at GCSE Physics. Since then I have moved to Ruislip, West London, to take up a Head of Physics position.

I feel an open approach to teaching and tutoring alike is most likely to make the subject accessible to students. My personal technique involves covering the scientific basics before moving on to further develop knowledge and understanding. I am 41 years of age, married and hold a first class degree in physics from the University of Surrey. I'm also a Chartered Physicist and currently work for a major technology and research company. Since graduating I have worked in industry in a variety of technical fields including software, nuclear fusion and sonar.

Personal Description:
A graduate in Applied Biology with 2:1 Hons - i am currently teaching Science at a London secondary. Have worked previously in laboratories and also as a recruitment consultant so have excellent communication skills, and have a real enthusiasm for science and teaching.

Teaching Experience:
Limited teaching experience in the classroom as of yet (10 months), however i have taught at undergraduate level at University. Have tutored a Year 10 boy both GCSE Physics and Biology in the OCR syllabus and have taught GSCE from the AQA syllabus also.

Tutoring Approach:
Very patient and laid back approach. Like to promote discussion and speak about the subject with the pupil, opposed to just getting the pupil to sit and listen whilst i talk. Like to work on past pare questions and always set the students a task to do betwwen each session.

Personal Description:
Earned my first degree in Physics at Imperial College in 1989. Studied comets for three years at University of Sheffield and was awarded a PhD in 1994. In 1998 I completed a PGCE (for Further Education) at the University of Huddersfield. I am passionate about my subject and enjoy teaching it so long as my students are willing too.

Teaching Experience:
I have been teaching A level physics as head of physics at Doncaster College for over eight years. For the last two years I have also delivered the new International Baccalaureate syllabus. I also have a great deal of experience as a private one-to-one tutor, having taught at every level from A level physics right down to basic skills numeracy.

Tutoring Approach:
I try to adopt a friendly and informal approach towards teaching. Aside from enhancing the student's knowledge and skills I have always believed that effective teaching is as much about instilling personal confidence in the student's own abilities. So I try to encourage my students to aim high but to build up from the firmest of foundations. As often as not, at least in physics, this means challenging previously cherished assumptions about how the world really works. If we can get the groundwork right then the rest will generally follow.

I'm a Master's student from Sheffield University. I completed my MSC (Research) in 2004 and have been in the Building Services Industry as a consulting engineer.

Tutoring Approach:
I have a patient and relaxed approach but I do have high expectations. I continuously motivate and encourage my students to do their best, and when required modify my approach to suit the needs of the individual. I would expect students to complete homeworks and to be on top of the last lesson and ready for the next. I have had some very good results at GCSE and some excellent A level results.
