| Personal Description: I am an A2 student at Macmillan Academy studying Mathematics, Further Mathematics, Physics, History, Arabic, Urdu, and Critical thinking. I achieved 11A*s at GCSE, including 595/600 for Mathematics, and A*s in all subjects I tutor. I have also achieved 6As and a B at AS level. I hope to study PPE (Philosophy, Politics and Economics) at University. |
Teaching Experience: I have taught for the past 2 years at a Saturday school. My very recent experiences of school teaching places me in a unique position to clearly identify strengths and deficiencies in the system, which reflects in my targeted teaching style. |
Tutoring Approach: I will be covering the entire course for each subject, if however the student wants specific help, then they can be assisted in that too. I can offer advice for course works, but ethically I cannot go further than that I will also be doing extensive exam preparation work with the student throughout the year, especially so near exam-time. |

| Personal Description: I am 39 years old with two children aged 9 and 11 years. I taught 5 years in Bradford before moving to peterborough in 1998. I play cricket at club level and also in the powerleague 5 a-side football. I was Bradford 'Open ' chess champion in 1985 but I only play on a casual basis now. I have helped to run education centres in Bradford and peterborough after school and on a Saturday. |
Teaching Experience: I have been teaching since 1992. I have extensive experience of teaching in different types of schools as a mainstream teacher as well as Head of Science. During the last year I have worked as a Science Consultant for a local authority working with staff and students. during the last 5 years I have been a GCSE exam marker and therefore I am very familiar with the requirements in order to achieve marks in external exams. |
Tutoring Approach: During the last 10 years I have seen how easy it is for young people to get distracted from academic studies due to the vast array of gadgets that they just have to play with. Tuition is about finding that mental block that is preventing learning and understanding from taking place. I try to give concepts and subject knowledge a reality that students can understand by giving analogies and models that they are more familiar with. |

| Personal Description: After twenty years experience in engineering and IT I am now starting a photography business being about to complete a photography degree. In my professional experience I have had to provide technical support to people of all abilities, often having to teach complex subjects in plain English. |
Teaching Experience: I have experience of mentoring new recruits and student interns in professional environments; tutoring Maths and sciences to GCSE and A-level; and informally teaching friends and colleagues many aspects of IT/computing and photography. |
Tutoring Approach: I always try to understand what the 'tutee' needs from me. No two people are the same so I tailor my approach to your requirements and skills. I believe that everybody is capable of understanding any subject -- the key is to make that breakthrough: and by finding the holes in the learner's grasp of a subject great things can happen! |

| Personal Description: I am a 26 Year old, Student of Msc in Advanced Methods in Computer Science at Queen Mary, University of London.I love my maths and physics and am very good at them. |
Teaching Experience: I currently am teaching maths to a couple of students at KS3 Level and also one student for his GMAT Maths, all of them on one to one basis.Prior to this i have taught at various levels ranging from KS1 to university Level as a personal tutor. |
Tutoring Approach: My Approach to teaching is to keep it simple and fun, I believe every one has a different optimum speed of learning which cannot be catered to in a group environment. I have seen students who have been miserable in class room environment but have excelled when given tutoring suitable to their learning speed or characteristics. My philosophy is always to make the student self sufficient in his learning, because once a student becomes confident enough to learn in this method, learning any new thing becomes second nature to them. |

| Personal Description: I am currently studying focusing on my tuition and this is now my main profession. I have recently finished studying Neuroscience at UCL. I have a very enthusiastic approach to learning and believe the combination of determination and attitude are the recipe for success. I am patient and understanding, but am aware that, at times, discipline needs to be enforced (with the younger students). I'm here to improve exam results and develop the general knowledge and attitude of my students to the subjects. I can provide a very efficient 'crash course' in the run up to exams, whilst also maintain a long term relationship with students to ensure they consistently are making the most of their academic opportunities and examinations. |
Teaching Experience: I have tutored a variety of ages - from 4 to 18 year-olds. I am a part time teaching assistant for a year 1 class, teaching hand writing and encouraging concentration and curiosity. I have been tutoring for over six years now and have now taken up tutoring on a full-time basis. As I have recently been a student, the syllabus is still fresh in my mind and I have a better understanding of the stresses and confusions of the syllabus. I can tutor in a focused manner for specific exams, such as GCSEs or entrance exams and I can also tutor to improve students' general ability and understanding of their current syllabus, to ensure that school life is made more manageable and any exams can be planned for in advance. I have an extremely good previous record with my students and am yet to have a student who has not achieved the school they want. As in my academic career, I had a multitude of entrance exams to gain a place in my number one institution. I have consistently had high grades - from receiving 10*s at GCSE, all As at A-Level and a first in my degree in Neuroscience. I also have a multitude of excellent references from my previous and current students. I therefore believe, whilst I am always improving myself and my tutoring skills, I have a wealth of experience behind me to help any students achieve their goals. |
Tutoring Approach: I comprehend the need for excellence under exam conditions and I encourage students to learn exam techniques from a young age. However, I strongly believe that the attitude and enthusiasm for a subject is the key to success. It is important not to focus solely on exams and to develop knowledge for personal development and improvement. I adapt my teaching styles to each student; each lesson is based on the student's current ability and what each students' personal goals are. |

| Personal Description: I am 29 years old, and have been born and raised in Glasgow. I'm in to meditation, philosophy, music, cycling and movies. I work as a support worker and occasionally as a cycle messenger. I have been told (by my mum) that i'm bright, fun and eccentric. I gained an Honours Degree in Electrical Engineering from Glasgow University, and have always had a natural aptitude and understanding of Mathematics and related subjects. |
Teaching Experience: I have taught evening classes in meditation and philosophy for four years now, and have received very positive feedback from the students. I have also successfully tutored friends and family members in Mathematics. |
Tutoring Approach: I try and make the study environment light and enjoyable, making effort to understand and overcome particular obstacles that the individual may have, and really trying to create a positive wish to learn. I try to help the student gain real understanding of the subject, rather than merely memorising the material. That way the subject becomes clear and enjoyable for the individual, and learning will take place naturally and easily. To this end, I will usually not give more homework and will offer support in completing homework assignments set by the school. I understand the pressures and stress involved in sitting examinations and try to offer support for the individual to overcome these obstacles too. |

| Personal Description: I am a third year Mathematics student at The University of Edinburgh and I will be graduating at the end of this year. I am very interested in taking my teaching career further after I graduate, and I see this as an excellent opportunity to gain further experience, and provide quality tutoring to ensure the success of the tutee. Teaching Experience: I have relevant Mathematics experiance through helping out 1st year economics students at my university. |
Tutoring Approach: First and foremost, I am determined to ensure the Tutee has fully understood all the main concepts required to ensure success for exams at School/College. I feel firstly it's important to find out the progress and the standard of the Tutee to ensure I'm not explaining things that is already known. But more importantly, the things which the Tutee is struggling with. My main approach begins usually by explaining a lot of concepts in broad strokes to begin with by using appropriate analogies, this is followed by some examples. I will usually set questions after and check that the Tutee understands my teaching. I also provide relevent teaching aids such as revision guilds and past papers. |

| Personal Description: I have a PhD in Physics from the University of Oxford. Before that, I completed a six year MSc course in Physics & Astronomy at the University of Leiden, The Netherlands. Currently I am a lecturer in Physics at Imperial College London. |
Teaching Experience: I have taught many different types of people over a variety of subjects. I teach Physics, Maths, and Computer Programming at degree level. My tutoring experience includes all forms of Physics, Maths, and Statistics both to A-level and degree-level students as well as mature private students. Furthermore, for years I have taught adults of the age of 50+ the very basics of using a personal computer, including using email and internet, and software packages such as Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Powerpoint). |
Tutoring Approach: I am an extremely patient and considerate tutor, adept at communicating with people of all ages. For A-level and degree level students, I begin by identifying areas of weakness and developing a strategy and a sequence of lesson plans that are matched to the student's needs. I work with the pupil to set realistic and swift targets for improvement. My tuition allows for immediate, positive and corrective feedback to help the pupil quickly improve and permanently stay on track. I can also help with coursework and preparation for forthcoming examinations. For casual learners in IT, I can visit their homes to work with them on their own computer. I can guide them from the very basics to advanced concepts such as creating computational spreadsheets in Excel, or the principles of programming. | Personal Description: I have recently graduated from the University of Strathclyde with a Masters with Merit in Mechancal Engineering. I am looking for temporary work over the summer that will last until I start my graduate position in late September. |
Teaching Experience: I have no professional teaching experience however I have tutored my younger siblings and a number of friends in the past. My strongest subjects are maths and physics and I have recently revised material ranging from Standard Grade to Advanced Higher level. |
Tutoring Approach: I have all my notes and example questions that i used for my own revision from higher through to Advanced higher in Maths and Physics. These notes helped me to obtain a A in Higher Maths and Physics and a A in Advance Maths Mechanics. I would use these notes as well as examples from the current text books to help break down the course and teach it in managable chunks. I feel it is important to learn the material one chapter at a time before tackling past papers however I understand the importance of completing past papers in preparation for the exam. |

| Personal Description: I am a Maths graduate from one of the best University in London. I have student mentoring experience and I have also ran a youth club's football team. I believe I have excellent skills and ability to not only teach the Maths subject, but also to untap your child's confidence in approaching a difficult task in general. I have many years of private tutoring experience and would like to re-assure you of my competency. |
Teaching Experience: - 8 years of private tutoring experience - several years of student mentoring at secondary schools in London |
Tutoring Approach: Firstly, I would like to mention that when I was at school, my parents were unable to finance a private tutor for me or my siblings. Therefore I appreciate and congratulate the guardian of the child who is reading this simply to thank you for your commitment to your childs future. With that in mind, my approach to tutoring is one of 100% commitment from myself in order to make your child become successful in Mathematics. I like to make the study sessions as relaxed as possible for the child. My approach to teaching is based around interaction where I am constantly engaging the student to converse and highlight any difficulties he or she is facing in understanding the subject in question. I also like to challenge my students and set them measured tasks which will stretch them on to the next level. |

| Personal Description: Qualified in Physics from Oxford University I have worked on projects involving the atmosphere of Mars, and volcanic activity on Mars (a NASA workshop). I am able to provide guidance in the following areas in physics: Astrophysics Mechanics Particle physics Nuclear physics Electrodynamics Atmospheric Quantum physics in maths: Mechanics Calculus up to A level. I also have specialist knowledge in computing and software as well as web technologies and run my own web design business and an online photography magazine - rosieandlee.com and thephotographyparlour.com. |
Teaching Experience: Private tutoring: A level students in physics GCSE students in physics |
Tutoring Approach: I think it is important to realise that everyone has their own unique style of learning. With Maths and Physics, the mind of the student is needing to work in an academic way, perhaps sometimes needing to understand difficult theoretical concepts. My teaching will come with illustrations and practical applications to accelerate learning. I often prompt the student to repeat the important concepts to assess levels of understanding and boosting their confidence in their own comprehension of the subject. |

| Personal Description: I'm 22 and have just graduated from Bristol University with a degree in Physics with Astrophysics. Until late 2010 I'm staying in Bristol tutoring Maths and Physics. After that time, I hope to start pilot training. Flying was my main activity and source of income during University although I'm very keen on sport as well. |
Teaching Experience: I first started tutoring in my final two years at school during evenings and weekends in the subjects of Maths, Physics and Geography (my A-Level subjects). This was all on a one-to-one basis with pupils aged 11-16. Lessons would last no more than an hour and usually took place once a week. As part of my final year at University I undertook a scheme called 'Physics in Education' where I worked at Clevedon Community School (a Secondary Comprehensive) teaching physics to a class of approximatly 25 pupils twice a week. |
Tutoring Approach: When teaching on an individual basis, each pupil and each lesson will be different. My approach taken depends on the material being taught and the behaviour and personality of the student. Like most tutors, I prefer a relaxed environment and encourage questioning of the subject material where beneficial. A typical lesson plan introduces the subject material, explains what needs to be done, provides a variety of examples and then encourages the pupil to attempt further questions with less tutor input. In Physics and Maths, the pupil must understand and be confident with each topic before progression to the next. |
