Personal Description:
I am a first year medical student on a gap year. I have achieved high grades throughout my academic career. I did four A-levels in maths (A), biology (A), chemistry (A) and physics (B). I had achieved 4 A's in these subjects at AS level. At GCSE I achieved 5A* (including maths and double science), 3 A's and 3B's. I am a well rounded person with good communication and inter-personal skills, leadership experience in the school and work placement experience both while at school and before entry to the medical school in 2008, which includes volunteering at my local hospital. At the medical school, I was on a mandatory placement for patient orientated learning with a General Medical Practitioner. I have done CRB checks for the hospital volunteering (2007) and for my medical school (2008).

Teaching Experience:

I was given the opportunity at my sixth form school to be a teaching assistant during my free periods in which I would aid the teachers in explaining concepts to the students who required help. I did this for maths and science for students aged 11-14. I have also taught my younger siblings who are now at AS-level and continue to teach them in maths, biology and chemistry. I taught them these subjects while they were studying at GCSE level in 2009.

Tutoring Approach:

I am a patient person who understands that everyone has different rates of assimilating knowledge. Having this in mind, I will focus towards the area of weakness of the student which could be on theory, attempting exam questions or focusing on exam techniques. However, practise is paramount to a good understanding of the syllabus area and I will insist that the student agrees and does what is expected of them while they learn from me so that the focus is towards these goals.

Personal Description:
I am an energetic and enthusiastic young teacher, who takes on numerous tasks and always believes in putting in 100% effort and commitment. I believe that to get respect you have to give respect; therefore, I always treat students with respect and encourage them to respect each other. I help students to do well by allowing them to relate their learning with everyday life experience, and encourage them with regard to their future career paths. I praise and reward all students for their effort and achievements to motivate them to always want more and never settle for second best.

Teaching Experience:

At present I am working as a 'Teacher of Science' at the Baines School since 11/2009.I have successfully completed my period of induction as a qualified teacher at The Alfred Barrow School in 07/2008 working as a 'Teacher of Science/Mathematics'. I have worked in various schools in the North-West region, including Beacon Hill High School as a 'Teacher of Science' from 02/2009 to 07/2009.I have completed my PGCE course at the University of Sunderland in June 1997.I have a BSc (HONS) in Chemical and Pharmaceutical Sciences which I successfully completed at the University of Sunderland in June 2006.

My teaching experience to date has provided me with the opportunity to be involved in the moderation of GCSE coursework and teach Science and Mathematics to a range of classes. I have taught Science and Mathematics at Key Stage 3. I have taught Chemistry at Key Stage 4 using various courses including; AQA Science, BTEC Science, OCR Gateway Science and 21st Century Science.

Tutoring Approach:

I use various teaching styles, strategies and opportunities to raise students' skills to prepare them for life in the 21st century. I employ a flexible approach to learning and teaching to accommodate for contrasting and differing attitudes of the students. Using this approach allows me to encourage students to demonstrate their understanding in a way they feel most comfortable. I employ various teaching styles including auditory, visual and kinaesthetic to raise students' ability and understanding. I differentiate activities, worksheets and pace of the lesson according to the needs of the students. I believe a good lesson is always one that is well prepared and can fit into students' lives, which is why I try to relate as many concepts as I can to everyday life.

I help students to develop their literacy skills by ensuring correct English is used when speaking and in all written work. I frequently incorporate mathematics such as drawing and interpreting graphs, using equations to solve problems, to aid students to improve their numeracy skills. I encourage students to develop their communication skills by allowing them to partake during group discussions, and on one to one basis. I provide students the opportunities to develop their ICT skills by allowing them to use available resources to carryout research and prepare reports using a variety of software.

Personal Description:
I am currently an undergraduate at Trinity College, Oxford University, studying in my 2nd year of a 4 year Chemistry degree. I am a scholar, having been awarded a distinction in my first year Preliminary Examinations.

I attended Winstanley College until 2008 where I gained A-Levels in Chemistry, Physics, Maths and Further Maths, along with an AS in Biology, all at Grade A.
I have a very good understanding of how the A-Level examinations work, and how to approach them in order to get best results.

I attended St. John Fisher High School Wigan until 2006 where I gained 10 GCSEs at grade A*, including Maths and Double Award Science.

My hobbies and interests include Rowing for my College Boat Club, cycling and playing guitar. I have held positions of responsibility as Men's Welfare Rep for Trinity College, and Deputy Head Boy at my high school. I have recently been elected Boat Club Treasurer for the academic year 2010-11.

Teaching Experience:

Oxford University is unique in its system of tutorials, and I have spent the last two years attending one on one tutorials weekly with Chemistry tutors who are top in their field. From this I have gained valuable insight into how to conduct successful tutorials myself.
I have a younger brother who I have helped through his GCSEs and A-Levels.

Tutoring Approach:

I believe the most important thing is to encourage self confidence in a student, the worst thing possible is to scare the student away from the subject so that they are afraid to try to grasp any new ideas. A genuine interest in the subject will always lead to success.
The way I would achieve this is to create a relaxed, friendly environment from the off and ensure that the tutorial is led by the student with only guidance from myself, so that the student feels a sense of achievement and confidence in their abilities by the end of the tutorial.
I would set the student realistic goals, and eventuall encourage the student to set these goals themselves and ensure that the student has achieved their goal by the end of the tutorial.
In Science and Maths, tackling problems is essential in order to gain lasting understanding, I would ask the student to attempt to answer problems following the tutorial to help gauge progress.

Personal Description:
I am a final year medical student at Oxford University looking to work with students of all ages to help with their studies. Personal Description:
I have a PhD in Physics from the University of Oxford. Before that, I completed a six year MSc course in Physics & Astronomy at the University of Leiden, The Netherlands. Currently I am a lecturer in Physics at Imperial College London.

Teaching Experience:

I have taught many different types of people over a variety of subjects. I teach Physics, Maths, and Computer Programming at degree level. My tutoring experience includes all forms of Physics, Maths, and Statistics both to A-level and degree-level students as well as mature private students.

Furthermore, for years I have taught adults of the age of 50+ the very basics of using a personal computer, including using email and internet, and software packages such as Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Powerpoint).

Tutoring Approach:

I am an extremely patient and considerate tutor, adept at communicating with people of all ages.

For A-level and degree level students, I begin by identifying areas of weakness and developing a strategy and a sequence of lesson plans that are matched to the student's needs. I work with the pupil to set realistic and swift targets for improvement. My tuition allows for immediate, positive and corrective feedback to help the pupil quickly improve and permanently stay on track. I can also help with coursework and preparation for forthcoming examinations.

For casual learners in IT, I can visit their homes to work with them on their own computer. I can guide them from the very basics to advanced concepts such as creating computational spreadsheets in Excel, or the principles of programming. Lesson plans will be formed in communication with the student, and completely adapted to their needs and wishes.

I am based in Stoke Newington and South Kensington. You can come to me or I can travel to you (different rates apply).
Feel free to contact me to talk about your wishes, or to arrange a meet-up free of charge for an informal chat at home or in your local cafe.

Personal Description:
I have recently graduated from the University of Southampton with a degree in Mathematics with Actuarial science. At the moment I am looking for full-time work along with giving tuitions on the side. I am a friendly person who gets along very well with everyone. Over the years of my qualifications, I have gained experience in teaching and have developed various skills such as good communication and problem solving abilities which I believe are very important in every field. I am a trustworthy individual with a desire to help people in any way possible. I am willing to teach most of the subjects that I've studied so far, with Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry and ICT being my main strengths.

Teaching Experience:

I have gained indirect experience of teaching from a very young age by helping my fellow friends in school with exam preparations for difficult subjects. I have also given tuitions while I was studying for my A-levels to students preparing for GCSE level exams. During my three years at University I have helped many friends on my course with different courseworks and mathematics related problems. In my second year I used to give consolidation classes to first year students which were designed to help any student with problems they face in their modules. I also gave tuitions to a group of students in year 10 over summer 2009 for Mathematics and Physics.

Tutoring Approach:

I believe every individual is different and works at a different pace. One problem some students face in class room learning is lack of individual attention. I believe students do good or bad in exams depending on how well they understand the course. Therefore when teaching someone I aim to identify their learning ability and explain things in a way they understand the best. I also believe in understanding what the student requires to concentrate and remain interested in the subject which is a direct consequence of one's teaching technique. Therefore I try to keep the subject interesting and help to boost the confidence of the student in it which I feel is the most important factor to perform well in exams.

Personal Description:
I am 25 years old and have recently graduated from the University of Edinburgh where I studied Mathematical Physics. I have an advanced and broad understanding of maths and Physics up to degree level and enjoy conveying ideas and concepts of a scientific nature to those of all levels of experience. I will soon start my second Masters degree in Mathematics at Cambridge university with the hope of continuing on to do a PhD. I hope supplement my income during my studies thorough tutoring.

Teaching Experience:

During my degree I worked with both groups of people and individuals. I often had to solve problems on a blackboard infrount of tutorial groups and also worked together on tutorial problems with other students. On occasion we would be required to research a certain topic in great depth, assimilate the information, then give condensed talks on the subject. This would be done in a manner that, whilst not dumbing the material down, would be easily understood by non experts. I also spent a great deal of time over the years helping my friends revise for there exams.

Tutoring Approach:

I have only recently completed my Masters degree and have been in continuous education for a long time. I remember what it is like to be taught and by what methods I learnt the most effectively. I believe that the theory side of any scientific subject, particularly when mathematics is involved, is best taught in the following way: The theory should be explaining and why it is of significance, example applications of the theory should be worked through with the student and finally the student should set about solving problems set by the tutor with the new information at there disposal. This final stage would probably take the form of homework which would be marked so that potential misunderstandings can be identified and explained.
