I would adjust the style depends on each individual student, for example, more theory or practice.

Personal Description:
I have extensive experience of different photographic genres over many years with a particular specialism in wildlife, landscape and creative environmental photography projects. I have a first degree in BA(Hons) Wildlife & Environmental Photography from Blackpool and the Fylde College and an MA in Wildlife Documentary Production.

Previous to taking these courses as a mature student I practiced location and journalistic photography in my capacity as Film Unit Manager for the London Borough of Greenwich, photographing on film sets such as About a Boy with Hugh Grant and the remake of the Four Feather with Kate Hudson and Heath Ledger.

I have won a number of prestigious photography competitions including the Royal Horticultural Society silver award for macro images of flowers and was a finalist in the Natural History Museum's Wildlife Photographer of the Year Awards. I have exhibited in the Look 13 International Photography Exhibition, other locations in the northwest of England, London and New York. I have also made two short wildlife films which mix documentary with fictional elements in story telling.

Teaching Experience:

I have taught at a number of leading institutions including Ravensbourne College of Media and Communication, Blackpool and Fylde College, Liverpool University and Cumbria Wildlife Trust as well as personal tuition and mentoring on creative photography. I have also volunteered on nature photography projects with Embrace Cooperation Ltd for secondary school children and adults. I can teach you how to use your DSLR camera plus the basics and more advanced tools for creative photography and documentary style projects. Complete beginners to the more advanced photographer welcome.

Tutoring Approach:

I offer a 1.5 hour introductory photography lesson to individual adult learners at the special rate of 75. This may be enough to help you get to grips with your camera and/or establish whether the teaching methods and aims fit. Also good as a present!

Please note that all individual adult lessons will take place in or near the Waterloo/Southbank area of central London.

I like to teach photography in a creative way, allowing the pupil to develop their own style through a process of fieldwork, set projects and the study of other artists and photographers. They will start to see the world in a different way. It is a great confidence builder as well as a skills provider.

Comment from a previous student:

"Just a quick note to say thank you for such an inspiring and brilliant course. ............. I have learnt so much, it's been a real inspiration to me." Sarah-Jane

I am also able to teach groups at special rates and team-building days with corporates and organisations. Mentoring of individuals in the process of career change and personal development. Please enquire about any of the above.

N.B. Lessons can be taken within one year of purchase. Additional rates quoted for travel beyond central London. Most teaching takes place at a location on the Southbank.

Personal Description:
I am now one of Suffolk`s most experienced private photography tutors with over 13 years of teaching experience.

With an enviable record of teaching over 550 individual students since 2003, I remain very keen to pass on my knowledge to students and at a price people can afford!

For the past 13 years, I have specialised in offering practical `One-on-One` & `Two-on-One` 1, 2 & 3-day photography workshops/photography breaks held `on-location` on the Suffolk coast.

I offer private tuition on a 8 hour block booking basis with tuition held in my own home and `on-location` at a variety of suitable venues.

I can teach all levels from basic to advanced level photography with the emphasis being on landscape, seascape and nature photography. This also includes macro & close-up photography, architectural and advanced bird photography techniques.

I can supply a variety of camera outfits and other accessories for tuition although the main aim of my classes is to teach each student how to use their own personal camera outfit.

My tuition workshops/classes are very friendly and informal and are set to match the learning speed of each student. I also offer basic tuition in how to use Photoshop software for enhancement of digital images.

Teaching Experience:

Since 2003 I have worked as a private photography tutor in Suffolk teaching over 550 individual students. I have also provided guided tours, educational lectures, supplied photographs to magazines and calendar publishers and given lectures to camera clubs and self-help organisations.

Tutoring Approach:

My approach to teaching students about the art of photography is very simple. To pass on my knowledge and experience I offer private tuition for 1, 2 or 3 day (8 hours per day) workshops for only 176.00 per person per day (local pick-up, equipment loan, lunch and transport included)

In order to meet both computer and 'practical' photography requirements, I provide both 'in-house' and 'on-location' training to suit many styles of outdoor photography. For tuition, I can also provide a full range of related cameras and accessories to use on your camera, free of charge.

Students who visit my home will have access to a modern computer system for viewing and enhancement of digital images. In all, I can provide a fully comprehensive tuition package to all your digital photography requirements.

N.B. As many of my workshops are held 'on-location' in the Suffolk countryside, a reasonable level of fitness and mobility is required. Details of my tuition website will be made available to view when you confirm your tuition through the UK Tutors website.

I am a practicing photographer and I love to share my passion with others to help them to take better pictures. I am the in-house photographer for Leeds Grand Theatre and Leeds City Varieties and undertake a wide range of commissions. I am also an Insight Guides/Independent on Sunday travel photography award winner and have mounted a number of solo exhibitions.

I run a range of creative and fun courses, which offer learning in bite-sized chunks with plenty of time to practice and ask questions. Courses are held at my studio in Thornton, West Yorkshire, birthplace of the Brontes.

I also provide one to one tuition, usually at my studio, but I am equally happy to travel to a different location.

My approach to tutoring is relaxed but stimulating and is student centred. I endeavour to home in on the subjects, which interest my learners and provide activities appropriate to the student's learning style.

Personal Description:
Ben is a technically and artistically accomplished in portraiture photography and been quoted by professors at a university as a master in the studio. He love's to make the photos encapsulate you and who you want to be. Ben strives to capture the details and emotions that would go together to make your time with me an enjoyable experience.
Ben is a social person and loves to get to know the people he works for, so he can really reflect their character and what they want, so to produce the highest quality work for and give them exactly what they are after. Ben aims to spend time chatting with you in advance so that your time with me is so much more productive.
Ben grew up in West Africa where his parents worked amongst the poor coordinating small-scale development projects. This had a massive impact on his life and photographic practice affecting how he relates to the world around him. In his photographic work, he has taken a special interest in reflecting stories and voices through his images. For example, he travelled in Uganda and Thailand and used photography to be the 'voice' of the people he photographed.
Although Ben's formative years were spent in Africa he was educated in Guildford, Surrey at George Abbot School that specialised in the expressive arts. During these years, his creative flare became more apparent when he took A-levels in Fine Art, Sculpture, and Photography. He progressed onto doing a Foundation Degree in Action Photography at Truro College where he specialised in Sport, the Natural world and Social Documentary and began to prepare for a more commercial direction. Ben still maintained his roots in expressive art during the foundation degree but also developed his technical skills thoroughly. Ben had the opportunity to be the photographer for 24/7 magazines in July 2008 at the Newquay Ripcurl Surfing Festival.
In 2009, he progressed on to Plymouth University to study for his BA Hons in Photography where he achieved a 2.1 studying under Stephen Vaughan and Dr. Simon Standing. During this course, he spent time looking intricately into the how we view our bodies and others around us. He concluded the year specializing in fine art nudes and portraiture, with a project called 'The Paradox of Perfect Beauty'. This study challenges the ideologies of beauty in history, sculpture, and figurative representation and critically analyzes the standardized figures and body shape used in art as well as in modern day commercial advertising, fashion and other types of portraiture. In the final exhibition, Ben aimed to present a personal discovery of body image and consequent self-affirmation. Ben was fortunate to be able to exhibit some of his work at the D & A D-New Blood Exhibition in London in June 2010.
Many photographers say they are good but even the perfect image that ben has he can still see my own flaws in you get the highest quality with me and won't be disappointed. In this digital age, many people can snap you but ben can give you an artistic flair, which is also of superior quality. He is sure that you will want to share the photographs he produces. Don't hesitate to contact me to discover more.

Personal Description:
I consider myself to be a very laid back and creative individual. I enjoy spending time with my family and friends and consider photography to be not only a great art form but also a skill that so many people should be able to understand and enjoy! I have now been a full time photographer for over 10 years. My work has for the last 8 years been based in the U.K with one of the largest most prestigious studio portrait companies in the U.K, H.K,and America.

Teaching Experience:

Over the last 5 years I have tutored and mentored many new photographers of differing ages and skill sets. Some with no hands on experience at all, some with a firm grasp of the technical aspects of the camera who wanted to further themselves through lighting and post production digital techniques.

Tutoring Approach:

I like to take a friendly and enthusiastic approach to the questions and challenges that face new photographers young and old alike. Simplifying and finding real world associations on how the camera, lens and light work together with a creative mind.

Personal Description:
I am a current student at the University of Bath and I am studying German and International Management. I tutor photographer to university students and work freelance as a portrait and product photographer. I studied maths, further maths, German and chemistry at A Level.

At GCSE I studied maths, statistics, German, chemistry, biology, physics, philosophy and ethics, English language, English literature, history and ICT. I gained 9 A* grades and 3 A grades in the summer of 2011.

Teaching Experience:

I tutored 6th grade maths (year 9) in Honduras and have taught German to casual learners. I teach photography at my university for the Photographic Society. During my GCSE years I tutored German and maths to fellow students and at university I tutored statistics for the management course.

Tutoring Approach:

I believe that often it is simply a case of providing more individual attention that can really help a student. Through my previous tutoring experience I have found that one-on-ones where I walk the student through the way to solve a problem and find where they are having the most difficulty. Often it is a lack of confidence in their ability that is holding them back, and once a student gets past that they can find it a lot easier to understand new (and old) material!

Personal Description:
I have recently moved to Scotland from London with my partner who has taken up a lecturing job at Gray's school of art. I have been looking for work to support my practise as an artist.I came to Art in my 30's as a mature student via short courses. This form of education is a great way of developing artists through a different route than more traditional means while opening up opportunities to a diverse field of practitioners. I feel very passionate about education and how it has transformed my own life which has given me fantastic opportunities that I could never have thought of.

My own work involves an idea of process and gesture through the daily practise of being an artist.
I paint tools that I have used in my job as a gardener which has funded my practise. I paint these with either close observation or purely from memory. I continue this with large scale paper relief drawings which I have displayed in shop windows, mud walls in Morocco with chalk and charcoal, and more traditional gallery spaces. With these I explore the relationship between the hand and the eye, nature and culture, the raw and the cooked and how this dichotomy exists in the historical and contemporary art. For example I am interested in the Gesture of the hand in Velazquez, Titian and Tintoretto as apposed to established Renaissance painting which where drawn and then filled with colour. I see a mirror to this in more conceptual art such as Art and Language or Sol Le Witt compared to a gestural painters such as Philip Guston, Morandi or Joan Mitchell.

I am Recent graduate of the slade MFA program and I have been consistently exhibiting since such as the Creekside open selected by Richard Deacon/Lisa Milroy, the BFA futures, and currently at York College and the Zetta Hotel in Clarkenwell. I have also been establishing a drawing and painting workshop at Marymount International school and have given talks on my work and the benefits of doing an MA.

Teaching Experience:

2016- Marymount International School, 'Drawing from a Personal Object' workshop, ongoing.
Working with a class of 25 students i worked with an idea of using a personal object as a subject while exploring the idea of memory and observation with gesture of the hand.

2015- Kingston University, MA presentation
Before a class of third year degree students I gave a presentation of my work which, explained how doing an MA had influenced and changed my work. I also focussed the talk on application and interview techniques and guides.

Awards
2015 The Desiree Prize for Painting
2015 Nominated for the Land Securities Studio Award
2015 The Bergman Residency, Taroudant, Morocco
2012 The AP Fitzpatrick Prize for Painting

Tutoring Approach:

I believe drawing to be at the basis of all work. I see having a firm grasp of drawing from life as a key skill behind any artistic endeavour.

My own skills include:

Drawing and painting.
Oil, acrylic and watercolour techniques, uses and preparation
Extensive knowledge of grounds, substrates and supports.
Working with clay, wood and metal
Photography and documentation of work by with Photoshop and a DSLR
Bronze Casting
Current issues and developments in contemporary art
Developing ideas through practice and research into finished work.
Application and interview techniques including portfolio preparation.

Personal Description:
I completed my PhD in History of Art at University College London (UCL) in 2013. I have published my research in a number of academic journals and edited book collections, and I am a practicing artist, currently based in Hulme, Manchester. I am also currently a Junior Research Fellow at University College London's Institute of Advanced Studies.

I'm based in London Monday-Wednesday and can meet students within 10 miles of UCL's Bloomsbury campus (WC1E 6BT) on these days. From Thursday-Sunday I'm based in Hulme, Manchester and can travel up to 20 miles from the city centre, or meet students at my central Manchester art studio. I'm available for Skype appointments at any time.

Teaching Experience:

I am a fully trained secondary school teacher, specialising in Art & Design and Photography at KS3, KS4 & KS5. I have 9 years teaching experience, including working as a specialist Learning Support Teacher, and in Special Needs schools catering for children and young adults with a range of special educational needs, from moderate learning difficulties to profound and multiple disabilities.

I have particular expertise in studio practice (art and design), digital and darkroom photography (theory, history and practice), literacy, social and vocational skills, as well as History of Art, Anthropology and History of Medicine at undergraduate level.

I am also experienced in teaching at undergraduate level, having taught gallery-based first year History of Art courses, for University College London's History of Art Department, and on the History of Art degree programme at the University of Manchester.

Tutoring Approach:

I take a one-to-one, flexible approach to learning and teaching, which first establishes the needs and goals of the student, and then sets out clearly structured strategies for achieving these goals. These may be results-focused when preparing for exams, or aimed at developing a broader understanding of a subject area, depending upon the student's own priorities. I am happy to work with any course materials the student may provide, and I am familiar with all current GCSE and A Level syllabuses. I am able to guide both GCSE and A Level students through their studies, offering consistent, dedicated 1-2-1 tuition for the full term of the course. I can also provide practical tuition for students who are preparing their art portfolios for University submission, and can offer assistance with UCAS forms and references for students who undertake long-term A Level tuition with me.

Tutoring may take place at the student's home, or at my art studio in central Manchester, where I can provide a range of art materials and resources by prior arrangement, for more intensive practical art sessions. Please note that I can travel within 20 miles of central Manchester based on the fee structure quoted below, travelling further will incur a small additional fuel fee.

I have had recent successes with my private students, one of whom attended one-to-one sessions at my Manchester studio for 8 weeks and improved her predicted GCSE Art result of a B by two grades, achieving an A* in her final art exam. My most recent undergraduate student also attained a First overall in her History of Art degree, achieving a high score of 78 on her dissertation project, with intensive tutorial support conducted via Skype.

*Please note that due to the time-intensive nature of undergraduate level tutoring, I am only able to take on a maximum of three undergraduate tutees at any given time. Please see below for my current availability for tutoring at this level.*

I am currently tutoring ONE undergraduate student.

STUDENT TESTIMONIALS

GCSE Level:

A Level:

University Undergraduate Level:

"I wanted a tutor to give me help and advice on my undergraduate history of art dissertation. I needed reassurance that what I was writing was okay and some one to proof read and give me their opinion on my arguments. Gemma was brilliant, she gave me the confidence that I needed to keep going with my dissertation by reassuring me that I was on the right track. She discussed my ideas with me in detail, proof read all of my work and suggested and sourced articles that I might want to have a look at. I have recently graduated from Newcastle University with a First in History of Art and Media and I know that I owe Gemma a huge thank you for the support she gave me on the way to achieving this."

- Celandine, Newcastle.

Personal Description:
Cross-disciplinary Artist, I have exhibited my drawings, paintings, photographs and films in Switzerland, the USA and the UK and worked as a freelance Artist for over 10 years. I studied Maths & Physics in Switzerland and Performance Design and Practice at Central Saint Martins College of Art and Design before co-founding ONEN ENA, a cross-disciplinary Art collective that has 2 main focus: creating challenging new work and using creativity and exchange as the basis of educational projects.

Teaching Experience:

I have given workshops and private tuitions in several countries and many different contexts and conditions, from humanitarian projects in rural Morocco to high end schools in Switzerland and London. Subjects I have covered include Visual Arts (drawing, painting, photography, film, design), Art History, Philosophy, Literature, Maths, Physics and Dance (ballet and contemporary). I am happy to teach in either English or French (or both if you wish to combine the learning of a craft and a language).

Tutoring Approach:

CHILDREN (scroll down for Adults)

Through private tutoring I attempt to not only teach children essential tools and skills but more importantly help them understand and develop the knowledge and creativity they instinctively possess in them.

Method:
I believe in a learning approach that values and nurtures the child's curious eye that is still wide open and powerfully imaginative. This is why I choose to give private tuitions that are entirely tailored to the child's interests and abilities.
It is also the reason why I don't work with methods that are solely based on copying step-by-step instructions to produce a pre-determined picture. I feel they are artistically restrictive both conceptually and technically:
I feel that they not only constraint the growth of the child's imagination and barely challenge their creativity, but also prohibit the understanding of the transition from 3D to 2D and thus the concept of drawing what one sees rather than what one knows, and subsequently limit the learning of all technical skills that the latter involves.

How it works:
Lessons can have a focus on different aspects of the learning of Art - expression, creative development, design development, specific technical skills, Art History - and one or a combination of a variety of mediums - drawing, painting, photography, film, performance, design, creative writing and more. Any of the child's interests, whether it is dance, football, palaeontology or physics, can be integrated in the decided curriculum. Whatever the chosen pathway, the child will first learn how to properly and safely use all equipment.

ADULTS

Through private tutoring I attempt to not only teach you tools and skills but more importantly help you unlock and understand the knowledge and creativity that you instinctively have within you. I believe in a learning approach that values this wherever your abilities lie.

How it works:
Lessons can have a focus on different aspects of the learning of Art - expression, creative development, design development, specific technical skills, Art History - and one or a combination of a variety of mediums - drawing, painting, photography, performance, design, creative writing and more. Any other subject, may it be literature or physics, can be integrated to some extent in the classes as the curriculum can be tailored to your interests or your profession.

Classes:
Usually given at my home studio in Willesden Green, which is equipped with all art supplies, photography and filming gear, a sewing machine and fabrics, woodcarving and many other tools, as well as a good collection of books for inspiration and research. Alternatively, if better fitted for you, lessons can be arranged elsewhere (though some restrictions to the variety of mediums used may apply).
