Personal Description:
Emme offers private flute and music theory tuition.

Emme began her musical studies at the age of nine, receiving music scholarships at both her Prep school and the prestigious Oxford High School for Girls up until she left. She made her Concerto debut at the age of seventeen, playing Mouquet's La Flute de Pan Concerto, and successfully gained both the DipABRSM and LRSM in performance before moving to Manchester in 2005 to study at the Royal Northern College of Music. At the RNCM Emmeline studied with Richard Davis, Linda Verrier, Michael Cox, and Laura Jellicoe culminating in a final recital in 2009 that included works by Messiaen, Liebermann and George Crumb. Since graduating in 2009 she has continued to learn, play and teach the flute as well as the recorder and music theory.

As an orchestral flute player, Emme has performed in orchestras conducted by Hansjorg Schellenbeger, Sir Mark Elder, Gianndrea Noseda and Jacques Van Steen, just to name a few. She has performed across England as well as travelling to Italy to work under Noseda in his Stresa Festival and to Spain as part of the Word Orchestra. During 2008 and 2009, Emme successfully competed to become the only chosen flute player to take part in The BBC Philharmonics Professional Experience Scheme, and since then she regularly performs and records with the Orchestra in and around Manchester. She has also played with the Bampton Classical Opera, the London-Irish Symphony Orchestra, the Oxford Concerto Orchestra, and Stockport Symphony Orchestra and has featured as principal flautist on a number of recordings, notably for the soundtrack to the film Tortoise in Love, and on recordings for Polyphonic Records. She is currently performing in the touring hit musical Phantom of the Opera, as well as taking part in sessions for shows and TV in the UK.

Outside of orchestral playing Emme also performs chamber music and solo works. She is one of the founding members of Northern Quarter Ensemble, a flexible chamber group providing bespoke musicians for special events; most recently performing for royality at the Paris Opera Garnier. She often gives solo recitals and performs at weddings in Manchester, Oxford and Cheltenham. Her last concerto performance was just last year where she performed the Ibert Concerto with Oxford Studio Orchestra.

Outside of playing Emme enjoys teaching. During her time in Manchester she has taught privately, as well as for Lancashire, the Wirral and Bolton Music Services. She is also involved the BBC Philharmonic's outreach schemes, most recently being appointed the wind coach for the Family Orchestra projects in the North-West of England.

She has now moved to Oxfordshire and London and teaches at Preparatory Schools in both areas.

Emme has over 10 years teaching experience, teaching both privately and for Lancashire and Bolton Music Services. She currently teaches at Rendcomb College, St Hughs, Ferndale Prep and Bruern Abbey. Over this time she has acquired a 100% pass rate for pupils taking exams.

Personal Description:
I studied music at Hertford College, Oxford, where I sang as a choral scholar. I now work in music as a conductor, singer, pianist and teacher. I conduct the Harpenden-based Lea Singers and the Solis Ensemble, and sing with the choir of St Albans Cathedral. I am employed as an accompanist by Portland Place School, London, and regularly accompany ABRSM and school music exams.

I am able to teach piano, theory and aural skills. I teach music GCSE and A' Level, either independently or as back-up to school classes.

Teaching Experience:

I have taught piano, theory and musicianship for many years. My experience at Portland Place School has taught me various approaches to working with younger students. My current range of teaching includes children and teenage piano students, GCSE and A' level tuition for various exam boards, and adult musicianship.

I have personal experience of dealing with children with ADHD and related concentration difficulties.

Tutoring Approach:

For piano students I make it a priority to identify what music excites and inspires the student to practise. This way there is always a balance between hard work, a challenge, and enjoyment. I try to be flexible and cater to each student's tastes and needs, always with the background aim of advancing his or her technical ability and musicianship.

Tutoring is especially useful if a student is finding classroom teaching insufficient or unfulfilling. In one-to-one sessions individual problems can be identified and addressed with a more personalized approach than is possible in a classroom environment. For those who are no longer enjoying the subject, I try to reach the source of the disinterest. For those who are wanting a greater challenge than they are currently being offered, I develop exercises to push beyond the constraints of the curriculum. My emphasis is always on developing holistically as a musician.

Personal Description:
I aim to support each individual in achieving his or her full potential, and have received regular feedback that I have an approachable style which empowers students and puts them at their ease. I have been a specialist in English Language skills, particularly English for Academic Purposes, for a number of years, via Skype, email and face to face tuition. I play violin and sing regularly, and have been an orchestral and chamber musician for thirty five years.

I have supported various students in their preparation for GCSEs in all three sciences, together with A levels in English and Psychology. In addition, I provide support for a range of undergraduate and postgraduate courses in Linguistics, but more generally in academic writing at degree level for all subjects.

In addition to my degree/masters subjects and my PGCE, I also have Level 3 (A level equivalent) Diplomas in Psychology and General Science, together with Level 4 in Advanced Anatomy and Physiology and Level 5 in CBT.

Teaching Experience:

I have thirty years' experience as a qualified teacher, of which I spent 15 years in leadership positions in schools, including two head ships in England and Scotland. I teach English for Academic Purposes to both overseas and home students, support preparation for public exams in Music, English, Science and Psychology and have a range of violin and singing pupils. In addition, I prepare students for IELTs, PTEG/PTE Academic, for which I am an examiner, and FCE/CPE.

Tutoring Approach:

I like to tailor my approach to meet the needs of each individual student. Lessons are a mixture of interactive and instructional, with plenty of opportunities to ask questions in a stress- free environment. I use electronic resources to support my teaching and will mark and instruct via online instructional methods where required to do so.

For exam preparation I am familiar with Edexcel, AQA, OCR and Cambridge exam boards, and have experience preparing A level students for AQA A2 Psychology, together with Edexcel and AQA English/English Literature.

Personal Description:
I am a third year student at the University of Kent in Canterbury. I`m currently studying for a BSc in Mathematics. I also work as a Mathematics Outreach Ambassador working with primary and secondary school students, and give private instrumental and academic tuition. I am passionate about my teaching. I`m very friendly and enthusiastic and I am good at connecting with children and teenagers of all ages.

Teaching Experience:

I have experience giving KS3, KS4 and first year undergraduate Maths tuition. I work as a Mathematics Outreach Ambassador, working with primary and secondary school students, and running Mathematics workshops and masterclasses.
I also give instrumental and vocal tuition to students of a variety of ages and abilities. I hold an enhanced DBS (new version of enhanced CRB).

Tutoring Approach:

I am a very friendly and patient teacher. I have a flexible approach to tutoring, adapting to suit the students way of learning and best address their weaker areas. In my first few lessons I aim to give students tasks that they can understand and complete within the lesson, building their confidence in their abilities. This then lays the foundations to progress on to more difficult topics, and develop the students own ability and skills set, so they can begin to tackle new, unfamiliar areas of the topic themselves.

Personal Description:
I am a divorcee with two teenagers and a rather loopy dog (all housetrained!) I discovered the joys of teaching as a parent helper at my children's Infant and Junior schools which inspired me to qualify as a Primary School teacher. Unfortunately I have developed arthritis in my knee which is why I am looking to continue my teaching in a non-school environment. My favourite academic subject is literacy because I love reading books by a wide range of authors, e.g. Austin and Dickens to J K Rowling and Jacqueline Wilson. I love creative crafts e.g. card making, cross stitch, scrapbooking etc. Music plays a big part in my life, including listening and making. I'm a bit of a diva on the recorder and can play the full range from Sopranino to Bass. I love to sing.

Teaching Experience:

I am a qualified Primary School Teacher who has worked in a number of schools in Essex in permanent, temporary and supply posts across both KS1 and KS2 over the last four years. My PGCE was obtained through School Centred Initial Teacher Training (which comprised spending a lot of time working directly with children). Prior to that I was a parent helper and governor for 5 years at my children's Infant and Junior Schools. I was Music Leader at my last school for two years and ran the choir. I enjoy teaching all primary subjects. I am keen to also support adults in improving their maths and literacy skills.

Tutoring Approach:

I am familiar with the Primary Curriculum. Hands on learning is great fun and I enjoy practical activities. I love working on a one to one basis as you can build a rapport and really personalise the learning. I enjoy topic work as it gives the learning a context and shows that subjects do not stand alone without any connections/overlap with each other (just like life). I am keen to support both adults and children in mastering literacy and numeracy skills because they are fundamental life skills. Personalised learning means that any gaps can be filled so that an individual has a firm foundation on which to build.

Personal Description:
Hi, my name's Chris and I provide a guitar tuition service in and around Worcester. I offer both acoustic and electric guitar lessons for beginner and intermediate students of all ages. I teach a variety of styles and can tailor lessons to your own musical interests so that you're not only learning the music you love, but developing other essential skills in a relevant musical context.

Teaching Experience:

I have 12 years experience playing guitar and hold a joint-honours degree in music.

Tutoring Approach:

In addition to teaching you how to play the guitar, I can offer expertise in other areas of music. Having spent three years studying music at university, and being a writer myself, I can assist you with your own compositions, arrangements and songs. Likewise I can help with the sometimes precarious art of accompanying yourself as a singer! The focus of lessons is up to you, though equally if you're unsure of exactly what you'd like to learn I can offer plenty of options. As a patient and considerate individual my lessons tend to be relaxed but highly productive.

Guitar lessons can be arranged at times to suit. I'm generally available on weekday afternoons and evenings but feel free to contact me to check my current availability. I teach at my family home in the Barbourne area of central Worcester but I am also willing to travel within Worcester and to nearby surrounding areas of Worcestershire. For this service I charge an additional fee to cover the cost of transport and travel time, this is 5 within Worcester and 10 for Droitwich and Malvern.

My rate is 15 per half hour, however longer lessons are perfectly possible. For more information, or to arrange a lesson please feel free to contact me.

Personal Description:
My name is Freya, and I am a professional singer and teacher. I am studying for an MPerf in Vocal Studies at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama, and sing professionally all over the country. I work with ensembles such as Opera Holland Park, London Voices, and Bellaphonics, performing on the opera and oratorio stage as well as a session singer. I teach mainly at my home in South East London, but I can also hire spaces in central London and I am willing to travel to your home to teach as well. I also spend a lot of time in Oxford so I can take on students in this area.

Teaching Experience:

I'm friendly, patient and very experienced, having taught taught at the Purcell School of Music for 2 years as well as teaching privately for many more before that. I am passionate about making music exciting for people both young and old. I teach singing (classical, pop and music theatre) and Music Theory, Aural Training, Harmony and Literacy, and I also tutor students for their GCSE and A Level examinations. All ages and abilities are welcome!

Tutoring Approach:

Depending on the subject I am tutoring I change my approach, but I always like to make my lessons fun and enjoyable for the student, with a combination of 'book work' and practical activities. I will tailor my approach to the individual and their needs. Ultimately, it has to be interesting and fun for the student.

Personal Description:
I have played guitar for ten years and taught for one. I have attended college and have an HND in Music. I have passed Rockschool Grade 8 exams and have played many gigs in the Lanarkshire and Glasgow area. I also busk in Glasgow and manage aspiring bands/artists trying to make it in the region.

Teaching Experience:

I have taught for almost one year and have had a wealth of diverse students all at different abilities and ages. I have taught beginners, intermediates and advanced level guitarists, and have made a huge difference when the student is preparing for a performance examination.

Tutoring Approach:

I teach many things but I do expect the student to be practicing during the hours away from the lessons. If you are not willing to make the effort, then neither am I. My lessons range from a variety of subjects, including mastering chords, solo techniques, tablature, fingerpicking, identifying the range of the guitar and rockschool, to name a few.

Personal Description:
Following the completion of my A-Levels in Maths, Physics and Music I undertook an undergraduate degree in Music, as a part of which I was required to also study Maths during my first year. I have been playing Trumpet and Cornet for over 30 years now and have been teaching both Brass and Music Theory for the last 18 years. I regularly submit students for ABRSM exams and to date I maintain an exceedingly good pass rate for all my pupils who decide to undertake Grade examinations in both their instruments and Music Theory. I strongly encourage my pupils to undertake study of Music Theory as part of their lessons alongside their Practical Study, as experience has shown many students attain Grade V ABRSM with no substantial previous knowledge of this area.
As Grade V Theory is a requirement of the ABRSM before a student can be entered for a Grade VI examination on their instrument I feel that teaching the Theory alongside their instrumental studies assists in minimising the delay before a student can proceed to the higher examinations if they so wish. Further to this I believe it also allows them a better understanding of the music they are striving to perform. While I encourage my students to take the Grade examinations as a mark of their progress I am also happy to work with students who do not wish to undertake the pressures of certification but just wish to learn to play or improve their playing ability for their own enjoyment.

I aim to support all my pupils by concentrating on their weaker areas while always ensuring an all round approach. This places the element of control with regard to areas covered firmly in the hands of the student in order that maximum benefit is gained from each session while also ensuring that the whole subject is covered.

Personal Description:
I am a lively piano and languages teacher, who strives to evoke enjoyment and enthusiasm for the subject regardless of age or ability. My style is pupil-centered and aims to build the child's or learners personal confidence. I enjoy teaching anybody aged between 2 and 102.

For piano, I combine my own personal learning program with tried and trusted methods. For little ones under 5, I offer an early years musical introduction course, which combines musical development through singing, beating rhythms etc with beginner keyboard skills. For fives upwards and adults, I have developed a program which focuses on understanding tonality and rhythm, while developing excellent technical skill. The learner is given age and taste appropriate material to practice and sessions may include a craft homework for little ones, based on the theme of the music they have learned. Learners over 5 must have their own instrument and be willing to undertake personal practice. Grades can be taken, if the learner wishes. Personal composition and musical creativity is also encouraged.

As a fluent German speaker, having lived an worked in Germany in my youth, my teaching aims to impart something of the richness of that culture and of all the German-speaking nations. I aim to build the learner's confidence in actually speaking and expressing themselves in the language. The learning program can be designed to your own personal requirements. If you are studying for a GCSE or A-Level, attention can be given to building on the required grammar and vocabulary for your syllabus. Alternatively,if you are seeking a hobby or holiday vocabulary, I can design your learning program as fun-packed and build on speaking ability. If, for instance, your child is focusing on another language in their academic studies, but would like to learn German informally, an age-appropriate journey through the language is on offer. I do not enter students for languages exams myself.

As a speaker of French at post A-Level standard, I provide an enjoyable and fresh teaching approach to learners of all age-groups up and including GCSE level. As is the case with German, I offer structured lessons for those wishing to enhance their GCSE exam performance. For adults and children seeking a new challenge or hobby, a fun-filled approach is tailored to the individual and their age and/or personality. I do not enter students for languages exams myself.

My other speciality is in providing tuition for those studying English as a second language. I am Cambridge-trained in teaching English as a foreign language (Celta) and will support you in your studies, regardless of age or level. This method works on the principle of eliciting language from the learner; The student is encouraged to use the words they have available as best they can to describe what they mean, while being 'fed' with new vocabulary. The focus is therefore on the learner and their speaking confidence, rather than on the book in front of them.

Teaching Experience:

I am returning to piano teaching and private language tuition after ten years spent in the corporate world.

Having taught privately in the UK some years ago, as well as in German schools, I am now very excited about returning to this important calling.

Ten or so years ago, I worked hard on developing my own concepts in both music and languages tuition. I believe in technical or grammatical excellence balanced with an enjoyment of the subject or instrument. I encourage my students to own their learning experience, making the acquired skill their own. I have seen peoples' personal confidence grow through this process.

While working in a professional capacity in the areas of corporate banking, export and customer services, I have developed my business German considerably and have used French with clients off and on.

I am a Sunday school teacher with the URC as well as an occasional volunteer with the Salvation Army winter night shelter. In these capacities, I have deepened my natural sensitivity towards others, both adults and children alike. I have a DBS check in place in relation to my church work.

Tutoring Approach:

As explained above, I have my own personal style but will adapt your lesson to suit your learning aims.

I believe learning should be effective and fun, regardless of age or ability.

I aim for my lessons to be enjoyable,so that the child or learner actually looks forward to attending.

In my view, every learner's style is unique and nobody is poor at anything.

Learners should leave my lessons feeling upbeat about their ability and empowered.
