Personal Description:
SAXOPHONE-I am an experienced saxophonist. Currently I play both alto and baritone saxophone. I have taught young pupils at my old school before for free, but now that i have gained enough experience, not just as a teacher but at a very high level in bands too, I am starting to tutor. I teach many different styles, have it be jazz, pop or classical. I offer tuition for students of all ages. Whether you are young and just starting out or older and wish to try something new/different for fun and want some guidance in the right direction, I am here to help. I teach for those at a amateur and beginner level. Music is a great passion of mine and I really enjoy teaching others something so great.

MATHS- I am a higher level maths student and i have an A grade at GCSE level maths. During my free periods i spend time helping lower school student who are struggling with their maths for free because i really enjoy teaching. I teach everything from key stage 1,2 and 3 maths to foundation GCSE students. Maths has always been a great ability of mine and I mainly teach it because I have a love for it and in my experience those who i have taught have found me very helpful.

Teaching Experience:

SAXOPHONE- I have taught young pupils at my old school before for free to gain some experience in teaching. I also play at a high level in the Hillingdon Music Service concert band and Sax Group, as well as in multiple Jazz and Big Bands.I have been on tour to France with the Music Service as well and have played for weddings too. I now have a good level of experience in both playing and teaching.

MATHS- I have been teaching GCSE and lower level maths for a few years now. I was part of a team who a few years ago went to the UK maths challenge representing my region of London. I enjoy teaching maths and in my experience those who i have taught have found me very useful.

Tutoring Approach:

I find that bringing out the passion in the student is what counts, so for music the genre they enjoy most and helping them fall in love with music that way. With maths i believe having a strategic plan of getting a topic or part of maths that the student is struggling with and keeping at it and doing questions and going through the solutions with them until they understand. I understand that many people struggle with maths or may not like it but i find that someone younger (such as myself) teaching them makes it a lot easier on them. Another good way i find with maths is going through questions and helping them understand how to get to the answer rather than just giving the answer and moving on with a simple tick or cross.

Personal Description:
I'm not available at the moment as I am in university - I may start tutoring again over the summer holidays, but I won't be around over Easter either.

I am a second year Physics undergraduate at Royal Holloway University of London. I have tutored for over 3 years, I started off teaching the piano and then went on to Maths, Physics and general help with revision for GCSE's. I have recently sat my A Levels and I achieved 3 A*s and one A (Maths, Physics, Spanish and Music respectively).

I achieved 11A*'s and one A in my GCSE's so I would be happy to help pupils with other subjects apart from those
listed.

I will be available to tutor over the Easter period from the 26th March until the 21st April. (Ready for all of those exams!)

Teaching Experience:

I have taught the piano for over 3 years and taught Maths, Physics and been available for general revision help for the last year. My students have ranged from A/A* students to people who have worked really hard to achieve a C grade. I had 8 Maths/Physics/Revision students last year and 8 piano students.

Tutoring Approach:

I have three younger brothers so am very used to children. I find learning fun and I aim to do the same for my pupils. I aim to make pupils understand and not just learn and repeat back what they have learnt. There is no point in just memorizing something if you don't understand why the answer is what it is. This is especially important with complex subjects such as Maths and Physics. Maths is easy once you understand it, all the test can throw at you is the same problem but with different numbers. The method of solving it is the same.

(If you want many hours of tuition over a holiday period then I can give you a discount)

Personal Description:
Experienced Session Musician, with 11 years live and studio experience. 8 years tutoring experience. Two co-written South African chart singles, 8 studio albums ( session and co-writing ), three international releases. One South African National tour.

Teaching Experience:

Having started my own music college in South Africa 6 years ago and tutoring students on a one to one basis for the last year in London. My experience as a tutor is vast, not only do I have teaching/tutoring experience but also years of live session work in studio and on stage with various bands. Often co-writing singles that would go to chart.

Tutoring Approach:

My approach to teaching is tailored to each individual. Obviously in group sessions this can become complicated but I do always give each student personal attention so that they are learning the way that best suits them. I find just teaching students theory tends to take the Joy of music away ( and Music is first and foremost about joy and love for the art ). At the same time, on the opposite side of the coin not teaching the student any theory can be destructive.

My approach entails a mixture of Technique, Theory, and a vast amount of Practical. Because of each student being an individual, I mould my approach in how I teach them in these three areas, to maximize their potential.

Personal Description:
I have always had an interest in languages, studying French, German and English at A-level, followed by a first class BA Dual Hons from Sheffield University in French and German, with a distinction for spoken Swedish. After graduating in 2003 I completed an MA with Distinction in Translation (French and German) and undertook some freelance translation work. After a 'career break' from languages to become a Mum of three girls (aged 8,6 and 3), I am now offering tuition in French and German.
Alongside my language qualifications, I also play piano to post grade 8 standard, and achieved a DipLCM in Performance in 2009. I currently work part-time as a peripatetic piano teacher in two local primary schools. I now also offer music theory tuition up to grade 5 level.

Teaching Experience:

I have been teaching piano pupils either privately from home or within the school environment since 2003, which has been a great way to refine and develop my one-to-one teaching skills; I love being able to move at the pupil's own pace and respond to their individual needs which is a luxury that private tutors can enjoy. I have also worked with adults and university students who want to refresh their skills rather than work towards specific exams. Recently I have gained experience supporting a student through an Open University programme, which focused on speaking and the fundamentals of German grammar.

Tutoring Approach:

I am happy to respond to the needs of each individual pupil and tailor a programme to suit your needs; if you have particular subject weaknesses that you would like to work on then they can be addressed, or if you have particular topic areas that are of interest to you then we can develop those. I will work with the syllabus requirements that you are working towards, and provide you with work for home in between lessons as required.

Also, due to my background in translation, my specialist area is grammar and writing skills should that be an area that you are keen to work on!

Personal Description:
I am a 4th Year Medical Student at the University of Birmingham. I have a wide range of interests outside of my studies including playing the violin, exercising regularly, and making time to socialise! I am enthusiastic, organised, friendly and very approachable!
Over time I have discovered ways to learn effectively and am keen to pass on my skills. I studied Biology, Chemistry and Psychology at A-level, and also English Language until AS-level. These subjects are all applicable to Medicine, and as my studying continues I have developed my interest in science, human behaviour and communication studies.

Teaching Experience:

When I was 18 I had a year out before University. During this year, I spent 3 months at a school in Uganda, Africa. I taught music, sports, english, science and maths. Although the teaching style was very different it gave me an insight into how to tailor teaching to the student in order to get the most effective learning experience.

During my Medical degree, I have had to do regular presentations in front of both my piers and seniors - this has given me confidence in my teaching abilities, and I'm sure on a one-to-one basis I could be a good teacher.

Tutoring Approach:

In my degree it is essential that my communication skills are excellent. I am sure I would be able to form a rapport with any student; and believe that this is the key factor in creating a learning environment.
Working together to understand what the students worries are, and then explaining what I can do to help will be the big picture. From there, I will be able to create lesson plans appropriate for the student, and ensure that they know what the goals and learning outcomes are for each session.

Personal Description:
I'm an English Undergraduate at Oxford University and currently in my second year of study. I'm specialising in Old and Middle English, and alongside my course I write for the Oxford Student Newspaper and play the flute in the Oxford University Wind Orchestra. I'm enthusiastic and caring and am involved in the JCR as officer for those with disabilities. Prior to University I attended Wells Cathedral School as a flute specialist for sixth form, and my local secondary school up to and including GCSE level.

Teaching Experience:

I'm tutoring a 14 year old boy for GCSE Science and English alongside his school lessons and have already raised his grade by two levels. Following his tutorials with me this summer, his mother said: "He has gone back to school a different boy: keen to show what he can do, really trying hard, enthusiastic, sharing his homework with us and so much more confident-and I hold you responsible for a good part of this transformation! You helped him so much and I am so grateful to you." She added: "he really is a different boy in his approach-it's brilliant." I also have experience teaching primary school students of various ages.

Tutoring Approach:

I'm enthusiastic and hope to give tutees confidence in their own ability to succeed. I plan every lesson and start each time with an interactive "How much can you remember?" quiz, to solidify the previous lesson in the student's mind. My style of teaching is active and visual-I like to use colour, pictures and new layouts in notes wherever possible. I believe that hard work is important, but ultimately it is vital to inspire the tutee. This way they can reach their utmost potential through a combination of my input and their engagement with the subject.

Personal Description:
As a student in the University of Edinburgh, doing a degree in Geology and Physical Geography, I have always enjoyed working with people and helping others where possible. I am friendly, sociable and open-minded, as well as motivated to get the best results in the quickest way possible. I have graduated from Tallinn Secondary Science School, an elite science school in Estonia, been in top 2 in exam results for past 20 years. I graduated with highest grades in Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry, got 105/120 in IELTS ibt English language test, and received a B1 level certificate for Russian language. I have also played piano for 13 years, graduated Nomme's Music School with highest honors.

Teaching Experience:

I have been a piano instructor for one school year to an entry level 15 year old girl. Have been a math tutor for GCSE level for one school year, helping once a week with homework and additional exercises.
Both projects ended because of my graduation.

Tutoring Approach:

I believe the most important thing is to acquire the right learning habits, as the discipline and order gained through that is irreplaceable in later years. Even if the student decides not to go to a college or university, the same principles that are present in mundane schoolwork are present during future employment. Every subject needs a logical step-by-step approach that makes it easy for the student to follow, understand and remember.

Science:
The most common problem I had in science subjects, was the absence of logical ascent of the topic. This is hard to obtain in a classroom setting, where the teacher may have to hurry up with the explanatory part in order to get to the exercises, thus leading the student to rely on memorizing facts instead of using logic. Through individual setting, it is easy to set the right pace and see where the student gets stuck. Helping him/her by going through and analyzing different exercises is a way that reveals the logical path behind it and aids with remembering as well. It is also important to engage with more difficult complex exercises that include different topics, as they broaden the way of looking at science in general.

Music:
What matters the most in music, is practice, practice and practice. Whether it is theory of music, music history or piano practice, sometimes the hardest thing is to have enough motivation to get through the tedious work needed to excel. To make it easier I believe in investing in good work-relationship, as well as in high discipline. Learning is fun! If you let it be and if you start to get better at it. The theory of music is like math that you can use for your purpose. I believe in acquiring good fundamental skills in both singing and listening and writing down music.
In piano, I take as my mission to inspire the student to seek out his/her own potential. You always find more than you expect. It is my job to find right sheet music and technical exercises to match and mold the potential.

Russian/English:
Learning a new language is a difficult process. Especially if it has different alphabet and logic to it. To acquire the sense/intuition for the language, repetitious practice of grammar as well as broadening of vocabulary is necessary. After defining the level the student is at, it is easy to set goals and arrange a schedule. Continuous and individual work is needed, but the key point is practicing speaking. This would consist of easy dialogues and recitals. As my teacher used to say - it is sometimes better to speak with mistakes than be silent with none.
