Personal Description:
SAXOPHONE-I am an experienced saxophonist. Currently I play both alto and baritone saxophone. I have taught young pupils at my old school before for free, but now that i have gained enough experience, not just as a teacher but at a very high level in bands too, I am starting to tutor. I teach many different styles, have it be jazz, pop or classical. I offer tuition for students of all ages. Whether you are young and just starting out or older and wish to try something new/different for fun and want some guidance in the right direction, I am here to help. I teach for those at a amateur and beginner level. Music is a great passion of mine and I really enjoy teaching others something so great.

MATHS- I am a higher level maths student and i have an A grade at GCSE level maths. During my free periods i spend time helping lower school student who are struggling with their maths for free because i really enjoy teaching. I teach everything from key stage 1,2 and 3 maths to foundation GCSE students. Maths has always been a great ability of mine and I mainly teach it because I have a love for it and in my experience those who i have taught have found me very helpful.

Teaching Experience:

SAXOPHONE- I have taught young pupils at my old school before for free to gain some experience in teaching. I also play at a high level in the Hillingdon Music Service concert band and Sax Group, as well as in multiple Jazz and Big Bands.I have been on tour to France with the Music Service as well and have played for weddings too. I now have a good level of experience in both playing and teaching.

MATHS- I have been teaching GCSE and lower level maths for a few years now. I was part of a team who a few years ago went to the UK maths challenge representing my region of London. I enjoy teaching maths and in my experience those who i have taught have found me very useful.

Tutoring Approach:

I find that bringing out the passion in the student is what counts, so for music the genre they enjoy most and helping them fall in love with music that way. With maths i believe having a strategic plan of getting a topic or part of maths that the student is struggling with and keeping at it and doing questions and going through the solutions with them until they understand. I understand that many people struggle with maths or may not like it but i find that someone younger (such as myself) teaching them makes it a lot easier on them. Another good way i find with maths is going through questions and helping them understand how to get to the answer rather than just giving the answer and moving on with a simple tick or cross.

Personal Description:
I am a TEFL teacher with a university degree (Music) and am from London. In my day job I work in a music company. I also teach English to foreign students in London, having worked for 2 years in British Council accredited language schools both in London and Portugal. I am a very friendly person and really enjoy teaching any age group.

Teaching Experience:

I have taught TEFL in language schools for two years, and have given private tuition in English and in Music for 9 years for all levels of learners. I have taught English at all levels from Beginner to Advanced, plus Business English and conversation classes. I have taught children as young as 6, all the way up to adults, and vary my teaching method according to the age group I am working with.

I have a Music degree and play and teach the Recorder, as well as giving lessons in music Theory. I used to work for the Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music in the syllabus department, so have great insider knowledge about music exams. Additionally, I also used to mark Theory papers, so know what examiners are looking for.

Tutoring Approach:

I try to be as learner-centred as possible in my teaching. First I will conduct a needs analysis to assess a potential student's level and to identify the areas in which they would like to improve and their preferred learning methods. I encourage my students to actively participate in my lessons - it will not just be me talking. I aim to make lessons fun and engaging, as I believe that students learn more when they are interested in the material given.

Personal Description:
Ciao!

My name is Elena and I am bilingual Italian-English.

Since I relocated to the UK , I started tutoring both as employed by several tuition agencies and privately.
Meanwhile I continued my career as Accountant in multinational business and I am now part-qualified ACCA. Being an Accountant and tutor has given me the opportunity to apply learnt skill-set at workplace and keep myself in constant learning by teaching others.

My genuine passion lies in teaching my favourite subjects: Italian, Latin, Classical Greek, Music (piano practice and theory), now Business and Accounting Topics. I consider a true joy sharing my skills and seeing a message being passed on, understood and stimulating an interest.

Teaching Experience:

I started tutoring in Italy for two years at my Conservatoire as a Postgraduate Student and I have prepared Italian students for their exams in English as a Foreign Language, such as the Cambridge First Certificate in English and the Cambridge Certificate in Advanced English.
I taught Italian at the Italian Institute of Culture, in Prague (Czech Republic).

Since I started tutoring in the UK, I prepared English students for Certificate in Advanced Italian (CILS C1), GCSE and AS-A2 Italian, Latin and Music and for auditions in several Music Colleges.
My pupils are children, families, professionals, casual learners, adults, university students, children with learning disabilities.
Thanks to my business background and current studies and career, I tailored Italian lessons for adult professionals needing conversational or work orientated skills, from e mail to accounting and bookkeeping technical vocabulary.

Tutoring Approach:

I offer personalized teaching plans, from one-to-one or in sessions of small groups.
For upper levels I offer online teaching (via Skype or Facebook) or conversations over the phone.
I believe in a funny approach to the subject. I am patient and persevering in helping pupils achieving successfully their targets.
Past and current tutees will be happy to provide full references.
Families and children are welcome!

Personal Description:
I was born and raised in Cyprus and moved to England to study Music. I have acquired a Music bachelor's degree at Anglia Ruskin University and I am in the process of completing another BA in Jazz at Middlesex University London. I also have a grade 8 of Harmony of music and a grade 7 of Electric Guitar. As a professional guitarist I spend my time performing in various settings and in different styles such as Jazz, Blues, Funk and Rock as well as classical music.

Teaching Experience:

I have been teaching guitar and music theory privately for the last 7 years in Cambridge and London. In the last 2 years along with being a full time student I have worked as an SLA (Student Learning Assistant) at Middlesex university. This has been a great way to gain teaching experience, working alongside my teachers in supporting the learning experience of students of the below mine. Part of the job includes organising one-to-one and group workshops to review taught material and clarify assignments. I also participated (as a volunteer) in music workshops in London organized by the GPA (Greek Parents Association) and KITE MUSIC. I took part in rehearsals that led up to a concert, where I helped the participants (4-19 year old children of Greek parents born in the UK) with phonetic pronunciation, Greek diction and memorizing their part in the chorus as well as teaching chord patterns to young guitar playing participants. Finally I took part in an internship programme at Haslingfield Endowed Primary School where I assisted the Music teacher in preparation for a student concert in honour of composer Henry Purcell.

Tutoring Approach:

My approach is to tailor the lesson around the needs of the student. Every student is an individual with different goals and aspirations as well as strengths.

For example, I find that for children under the age of 10, a 30 minute or 45 minute lesson can be more productive as the student does not get as tired or lose concentration. Also a lesson plan will be significantly different for a student who wants to learn theory, harmony and guitar rather than a student who is interested in focusing in only one of those subjects.

Personal Description:
I am a recent graduate of Classics at King's College London, holding a good 2.i grade. I am hoping to go on to a Masters' level degree in the next couple of years. My specific interests within my discipline include the Homeric epics, as well as later Latin epic and lyric poetry.
I am also a Diploma-standard French Horn player, with over 13 years of performance experience in various types of ensembles. Friendly, enthusiastic and polite, I love being able to pass on my own knowledge and passion for learning to others!

Teaching Experience:

My teaching experience so far has been on a relatively informal basis; I have had one longer-term pupil, whom I helped with beginner's Latin to catch up in a new school, and then later to Ancient Greek as a more casual side interest. I have also introduced several friends to both music theory and Latin grammar in loosely arranged lessons. My orchestral performance experience has provided many similar opportunities as I have often been in a position of responsibility - friendly and informal tutoring and coaching is frequently required of a principal player when other orchestra members are less experienced.

Tutoring Approach:

I maintain that the underlying responsibility of any educator is to give their pupil the skills necessary to assist in their own education. Learning is not something that a student passively has done to them; in order to benefit, and to truly learn, they must participate and engage. This approach of enabling the student includes such vital aspects as kindling and encouraging a real enthusiasm for the subject, which is so important for self-motivation later on in the learning process, and making sure that there is always something for the student to do and accomplish, so that they can see their own progress for themselves.
I place my emphasis so greatly on enabling students because, as a current university student, I have experienced the benefits of this approach myself fairly recently. Learning the 'nuts and bolts' of Ancient Greek grammar, for example, means that I can now apply the same method to a modern language for myself with complete confidence, and learn it much more quickly, and more comprehensively, than I ever could have before. This confidence in a student to apply knowledge to a new situation is, in my opinion, the final aim of any tutor - but in order to achieve it, the student must understand not only the subject, but the learning process itself.

Personal Description:
Hi! I am Ana, a 23 years old Spanish girl currently looking for job in London.

I have a degree in human nutrition and dietetics, the Proficiency English Cambridge certificates and an 120 hours advance TEFL certificate. This summer I attended a course in the renown University of Nebrija to form people to teach Spanish as a second language and it was fascinating.

I love music, art, health science, English language, meeting people, reading, cycling and travelling.

My mother is a teacher and I have always liked helping my classmates with any doubts they had, so it would be my absolute pleasure to share my knowledge with who ever needs it.

Teaching Experience:

I taught English to children when I was in the university in Spain, and as an au pair I always try to teach my children anything I can, from art or music to reading, writing or helping with homework.

Tutoring Approach:

It depends a lot on the age as well as the subject. So basically we will talk it trough and try to work which ever way suits both of us the best.

Personal Description:
Please Note: My services include regular reports to let you know exactly where you or your son/daughter is with your/their learning, and I encourage tutees to contact me between sessions if they are struggling with a particular area so that I can incorporate this into the next session. Reports and contact between sessions are free of charge.

I am a newly qualified teacher (NQT) who believes that learning should be fun. I am a creative individual and actively try to include the use of engaging resources to enhance the learning experience. I believe that learning should be made relevant to real-life situations, so that learners can relate information to a context they understand.

I am exceptionally personable, and develop excellent working relationships with all my tutees and their parents/guardians.

I have an enthusiastic and positive demeanour, with an excellent sense of humour. I thoroughly enjoy learning, and will actively seek out answers to questions that learners might pose, if I do not already know the accurate explanation.

Teaching Experience:

I have a II.i in Primary Education BA (Hons) at Canterbury Christ Church University, and am proud to say that I was awarded "Outstanding" for my final placement. As a qualified Primary Teacher, I have an all-encompassing knowledge of curriculum subjects, though my second and third year specialisms were Design and Technology, and Art (respectively). In addition, I have an avid personal interest in and knowledge of Music, English Language, Religion and PHSE (particularly "Healthy Eating", "Smoking, Alcohol and Drugs", "Lifestyle" and "Fitness").

As part of my Initial Teacher Training (ITT), I undertook 3 placements in different primary schools; in my final placement, I taught for 70% of teaching time; planning, differentiating and evaluating lessons in accordance with statutory government guidelines and the learning objectives. I took responsibility for marking children's work and making accurate, detailed records of their progress, which I used to plan each child's next targets and objectives.

Canterbury Christ Church University taught me to create and utilise innovative, creative and engaging resources, and how to use them to enhance learning. Equally, I was provided with the opportunity to manage and coordinate support staff and volunteers, as well as the opportunity to liaise with specialists, such as SEN Coordinators and Speech Therapists.

Tutoring Approach:

I am confident in delivering engaging lessons, because I always consider creative methods to deliver information, as well as various learning styles; I appreciate that, whilst some learners have the ability to retain information through reading or listening, others need a tangible experience in order to comprehend the subject matter. During my university work placements, I strived to cater to the learners as individuals, whilst teaching to a whole class. I gained a lot of valuable experience whilst on placements, such as behaviour management strategies, lesson ideas, resources and classroom organisation techniques.

Teaching Experience:

36 Years of Piano/keyboard teaching including 2 years part time teaching 'Keyboard Skills' at Clapham Manor Primary School in South West London.

Music production lessons using Cubase. James will teach you how to use Cubase to create a finished production that you can release. James has a fully equipped recording studio with 36 years experience and many hit records have been recorded in his studio.

Tutoring Approach:

As a trained classical piano player with 36 years as a professional musician, James has developed a highly original and fun way of teaching his pupils. His method is not based on reading music or classical music study per se but rather unlocking the creative soul within the pupil, encouraging improvisation and composition. However, learning proper fingering and technique is also very important. Due to his unique teaching method, beginners are very welcome and results will be seen very quickly.

Personal Description:
I am a graduate of the Newcastle University BMus (Hons) Folk and Traditional Music where I specialised in Scottish traditional fiddle music. I am both an experienced teacher and performer, having performed at various festivals throughout the country. I am comfortable playing in a variety of musical styles and I am happy to tailor lessons to the interests of each individual pupil.

Teaching Experience:

During the past five years I have taught a range of age groups from young school pupils to adults in both one to one lessons and group settings. I have also had a great deal of experience teaching beginners, most recently the Bellingham Middle School Ceilidh Band. During my later years of school I assisted with a young children's string orchestra and also an intermediate traditional music group. As part of my degree I have studied different techniques of teaching traditional music within the community.

Tutoring Approach:

The initial lesson provides an opportunity for both myself and the pupil to discuss any past musical experiences and also understand what they wish to gain from future lessons. I plan my lessons around the interests of the pupil which in return allows them to get the most out of their lessons. Whilst I strongly believe that there are benefits to reading notation, I also teach by ear and am happy to focus on this if a pupil so wishes. I encourage my pupils to bring along any music they wish to learn in addition to their set pieces.

I offer hour long lessons, suggesting a starting point of half an hour for beginners. Groups lessons are possible.

Personal Description:
Juan is a rare artist with a great deal of intellect and an in depth understanding of piano, composition and music technology. He has been linked to what he describes as a "marvelous instrument: the piano" since the tender age of three. Eight years later, he made his fist concert appearance in his hometown Estancia Santa María de La Armonía. Ever since, he has been a regular performer throughout the theater halls of Argentina, the United States of America, and the United Kingdom.

Teaching Experience:

8 years of one to one tutoring.
I have prepared students for all ABRSM and Trinity College exams including GRADES and DIPLOMAS with 100% success rate.
I also train other teachers entering for Masters at RCM and RAM. I believe in a modern approach to music learning that's why I encourage my students to develop a their own taste for music. I also give my students the option of start making their own videos here in my studio where I have all the necessary equipment.

Tutoring Approach:

Juan believes that people connect to music at different times of their lives. As you watch him work, it is stunning to observe how he can be involved in the details and never lose sight of the big picture. His approach to piano pedagogy is very unique, one which simultaneously combines music technology, playing, reading and writing.

As a piano tutor, his greatest challenge is to instigate a hidden and deep rooted spark within each of his protégés. He believes that everyone should learn at their own pace, and accommodates this by providing tailored programmes. He has been very successful in preparing students for the ABRSM and Guildhall Trinity Exams.

Personal Description:
Hi there! I`m a young professional drummer based in London. I am an enthusiastic and down to earth educator and have been providing drum tutoring for a number of years to all ages and abilities. I cover a wide range of styles and techniques, providing my students with the best tools to achieve their full potential.

I am happily married to my wife Ruth and love music, motor racing, films and good coffee! Thank you very much for your time.

Teaching Experience:

I received private drum tuition myself for a number of years from an excellent educator. I have been teaching drums to young children, teenagers and adults for over 4 years. I have taught classes at professional music schools, and provided one to one tuition as well. I have lots of experience reading and writing drum music, have been a professional musician for 10 years, and love it!

Tutoring Approach:

I have a thorough and practical approach to teaching. I believe in my students setting their own goals (with some suggestions from me), whilst encouraging and equipping them to achieve their best. I use a very down to earth and open approach to education. I hope to develop an excellent rapport with any student, so they can share their own goals and musical aspirations, so we can work together to achieve them. I am keen for my students to pursue practice in their own time, and provide them with the encouragement and inspiration to make that happen. I aim to build my students confidence greatly on the instrument, and give them a sense of real accomplishment in music.

I recently passed a DBS check for work within a school. I`ve been a member of the musicians union for many years, and can offer a great insight into the world of music through a professional`s eyes.

Personal Description:
A first year Oxford Double Degree History student and double academic and music scholar. I was taught music at the Royal College of Music for over a decade. I am hard working, diligent and will always put my students first.

Teaching Experience:

Experience mainly tutoring younger children, but have done small ad-hoc pro bono tutoring sessions for older children. I specialise in both English and History tutoring, and I can tutor any book or any period for you child. Maths I will be willing to tutor up to GCSE at the most, given the board, and my music and sociology tutoring information can be provided at further request.

Tutoring Approach:

I specialise at being able to tutor online: I feel this means students can maintain studying in an environment they feel comfortable in. Another benefit is that I can document all tutoring sessions - part of me services mean that I will copy up transcripts of all the sessions for both you and your child - this means you do not need to worry about sessions being missed. To ensure you get the most out of my time, I offer my services in blocks of 5 or 10: this means that I can thoroughly cover subjects. For example, if you require emergency tutoring with a book, 5 sessions would enable me to efficiently cram topics, whilst 10 would enable me to go through this more thoroughly with you or your child. How I tailor your blocks of 5 or 10 can be discussed between both you, me, and your child. For documentation purposes, I believe typing during the online sessions can be maximally beneficial: both the child can see what i'm writing, whilst you as the parents can see exactly what is being discussed. However, if you would like me to use voice calling as well as video calling, this is no problem either.

Personal Description:
Hello! I'm a 30-year-old professional freelance saxophonist and music educator from Sydney, Australia. I am living and working in the UK with my wife, a physiotherapist. I am jazz trained but have a love of all music and a wealth of experience tutoring individuals, groups and directing ensembles in many different genres. I am also a freelance session musician and have done a lot of TV, touring and recording work, including with Guy Sebastian (AUS), Friendly Fires (UK) and Aloe Blacc (USA).

Teaching Experience:

I have been teaching saxophone for 15 years (half my life!) and have experience teaching ages 9-60, from complete beginners to university music students, and from people looking for a fun hobby to students intent on becoming professional players.

Tutoring Approach:

I am committed to giving beginning pupils the best possible start on the instrument, with care taken to ensure good fundamentals of posture, breathing, sound production and technique. This prevents students from reaching a plateau in their learning that may discourage them and hinder their progress on the instrument. Aware that everyone learns differently, I am able to adapt the style, content and pace of my tuition. I am completely besotted with music and the saxophone, and it would seem that this rubs off on my students!

Personal Description:
I am a young performer who also loves to teach. I have performed my original music on stages with over 1000 people in the audience and have been in musical UK tours. I can adapt to many different teaching styles and enjoy passing on knowledge.

Teaching Experience:

I have tutored young people in a project to do with music before.

Tutoring Approach:

I will first figure out what kind of learner my student is and build lessons around them. No person learns the same so that is the first and most important step. I will not allow my student to feel as if they are worthless and they will build confidence while learning the subject.

Personal Description:
I am a 22-year-old Cambridge music graduate and violinist based in Surrey. I am starting a Masters in Performance at the Royal College of Music in September 2015. I can teach violin, theory, GCSE Music and A Level Music. Furthermore I can help students write their personal statements and prepare for Oxbridge interviews.

Teaching Experience:

I have a great deal of experience in violin performance. During sixth form I was a member of the National Youth Chamber Orchestra and the Royal College of Music Junior Department. In my final year at Cranleigh School I performed Mendelssohn's Violin Concerto in E minor, Op. 64 with the Merriman Concert Orchestra.

At Cambridge I regularly performed in solo recitals at my college. I also played in the Cambridge University Music Society Symphony Orchestra at venues including King's College Chapel, St John's Smith Square and West Road Concert Hall.

Tutoring Approach:

I work closely with my students to help them improve their technique and musical understanding. Above all, I ensure that learning an instrument remains a positive and enjoyable experience.

I am available evenings, most weekends and during the holidays. I can provide assistance to students with existing teachers who require extra attention.
