Personal Description:
I am passionate about the subjects I tutor in and education in general. Education forms the foundation for freeing us from bigotry and ignorance, makes us better people and permits us to live richer, better lives. Knowledge is liberating and my subjects especially open many doors. They are not easy and require a willingness to work hard, but I strongly believe that anyone can get to grips with them if given the correct guidance. Most often the problem is not the student but a poor teacher, unresolved conceptual difficulties or lack of motivation. I want to fix these issues for you.

I used to work as a research physicist at Cambridge University in an indefinable capacity. I had several years of poor physical health (fit and healthy now) that made funding an issue, so I was an unofficial PhD student researching quantum computing and foundational issues in physics.

I have always have had a dual interest in the arts and philosophy, literature in particular. I've written a novel and several full length plays as well as directing at the student theatre in Cambridge and making short films. I recently decided to form my own film production company and work full time as a writer and director for films and plays. Our first short film is in production and we are applying for funding for a feature.

I'd say my approach to education is rigorous, highly intellectual and what one might term renaissance in approach. I'm interested in all aspects of education, and how our disparate academic disciplines connect which is somewhat antithetical to the modern approach to education but just the sort of thing one needs to get into Oxbridge and the like.

Why is tutoring important to me? Firstly, I feel it is my responsibility to pass on the knowledge and skills I have attained; secondly, I find it satisfying to help others learn and achieve what they did not think possible, regardless of their ability; and finally, I think one of the best ways to assess your own understanding of a subject is to teach it; we learn the most about our areas of expertise when we try convey their concepts and methods to an audience.

Teaching Experience:

I have tutored many (over 100) students privately over the past six years, improving their results in all cases where the students have followed my advice and worked hard

I have experience of teaching children as young as five through to graduates and am happy to work one to one, in small groups or in a classroom.

I also help set up and run and small charity to improve the educational standards of recent immigrants in inner city London where I taught all ages of students.

Tutoring Approach:

I am patient and I persevere. I am happy to tutor people across all ranges of ability but i expect you to work hard and follow my advice.

My tutoring includes:

- free initial consultation with needs assessment and lesson
- encouragement of free and critical thinking
- varying teaching methods depending on what the student is most receptive to including: problem based learning, discourse, traditional exercises, experiments, lectures
- exam preparation
- confidence building
- resolution of conceptual difficulties
- helping with homework
- homework marking
- undergraduate and postgraduate application advice
- coaching for Oxbridge entrance including the STEP papers
- interview advice at undergraduate and postgraduate levels
- email contact throughout the week to resolve your problems as an when they arise
- group tuition

Please note (a) while I am based in Hackney, I will cover East, central and South London; (b) I can offer reductions for group sessions.

Personal Description:
Currently Finishing a PhD in theoretical biophysics. Before that, completed an MSci in Theoretical physics from the University of Nottingham.

Teaching Experience:

As part of my degree I completed a module in communication skills, which included presenting physical topics to audiences with various levels of education (GCSE, A-Level, 1st year undergraduate). However, many hours in the University common room, both teaching and being taught by peers, has helped me greatly in my ability to verbalise concepts and ensure I am being understood. In addition I have 3 years of tutoring experience at the undergraduate level.

Tutoring Approach:

It depends very much on the pupil. Well motivated students often require structure. Students lacking motivation often require a constant sense of achievement and the maintenance of momentum. In terms of actual teaching style I prefer to open a dialogue and have discussion, rather than dictate questions or have pupils recall facts. Again, however, it depends on the purpose of the tutorial sessions and the abilities and motivation of the pupil.

Personal Description:
I am a qualified primary school teacher in my 30s. I am friendly, patient and approachable and enjoy helping children with their learning. I am able to provide help with KS1 and KS2 English/Literacy (reading, writing, spelling or a combination of these), and KS1 and KS2 maths. I particularly work with children who find the subject difficult and would like a little extra help and children who have specific special educational needs. My specialist subject is history and am happy to provide support for this subject at primary level also. I do not tutor for school entrance exams.

Teaching Experience:

I have worked in education for 10 years, as a class teacher in Years 3 and 5, a museum teacher and currently as a Year 5 and 6 teacher in a village school in the Forest of Dean. I have been home tutoring for three years. The children I have tutored have gained in confidence, improved their skills and moved up groups in school within months.

"We can't thank you enough for all the help and guidance you have given H during the time you have taught him." (Parent)

"Thank you for helping me get better at maths and litercay. Since you have been helping me I have moved up a set to a better class. I am pleased about this, as now I feel more confident." (Year 5 pupil)

Tutoring Approach:

I believe learning should be fun, active and relevant to the child's interests and needs. I tailor lessons to the child's abilities, learning styles and interests, and include suitable levels of challenge to help them progress. I believe praise and encouragement is conducive to success and in raising a child's confidence if they are struggling. I am used to working with a wide range of children who have different abilities and interests, and can quickly assess the level they are working at and tailor their learning to suit their needs and interests.

Personal Description:
Summary of what makes me stand out:

1) Very strong academic record:

1st Year Zoology: First class
2nd Year Zoology: First class
3rd Year Zoology: First class
A-Levels: 3 x A-stars (Biology, Maths and Chemistry)
GCSEs: 7 x A-stars, 2 x As, 1 x B.

2) Read Law at the University of Cambridge, King`s College, for a semester.

3) Undertaking a Masters in Biology next year.

4) After 2 months of tuition my first tutee went up 2 grades from a grade E in January, to a grade C in June, for A-Level Biology. Similar results occurred for my second tutee.

5) I work extremely hard to help people reach their full potential, and find it very satisfying.

About yourself:

Through my achievements I have become a lively, confident young man with a desire to push forward in life. I am friendly and approachable and work well in a group. I think having a good life balance is crucial to success, so I find time to exercise, study and socialise, with all three factors complimenting and improving the others. Study and travel have made me aware of my own capabilities, and that I will only get out of life what I put in.
Travelling to Honduras, Borneo, Italy, America, Peru, Hong Kong and Kenya means I have come across a range of different people and I can communicate confidently, with a breadth of life experience that I can convey to others.
Working for a precision engineering firm and going on a business trip to a semi-conductor exhibition in Taiwan has taught me to be punctual and professional. Engineering, travelling, business trips, exhibitions and coaching show I am not afraid of responsibility.
Taking part in a range of extracurricular activities, from rock climbing and weight-training to international development, has taught me to manage my time efficiently. I find understanding an idea myself, and then helping others to understand that idea, very satisfying. Helping someone to reach their full potential is rewarding for myself and the tutee. Teaching Experience:

I have a consistently strong academic record which can only be acquired through understanding how to excel in examinations and I have confidence in my tutoring ability. I took on my first tutee in April 2013 for two months and she achieved a grade C in A-Level Biology, an improvement of 2 grades compared with her grade E in January. My second tutee made similar improvements.

Previous experience with young people comes from coaching 4-5 years olds at football for a local club when achieving my Bronze Duke of Edinburgh Award; voluntarily teaching piρata making to increase awareness of Sheffield's link with Esteli, Nicaragua; through teaching in Kenya and organising activities at a school during my Borneo World Challenge Expedition. World Challenge described me as 'a capable leader and team member. He has the ability, character and intellect to lead effectively and he certainly delivered this on his second run through.'

Tutoring Approach:

If you're interested in hiring me as a tutor, I am happy to meet with you first so you can determine whether I am the right man for the job. Together we can then determine what specific areas the prospective tutee needs assistance in. Once target areas have been established, and the relevant exam board identified, I will use the syllabus, reference texts, past papers and a range of resources to apply my own knowledge and skills to improve the tutee's grades. I understand that different people learn in different ways, and will use the technique that works best for the tutee. The teaching approach can be personalised for specific individuals, a major advantage of one to one tutoring. The atmosphere will be relaxed so the tutee feels comfortable and we can make the best use of our time. Although a relaxed atmospere, teaching will be structured and interactive. I hope to give the tutee confidence in themself and their abilities. I can provide further advise on revision and exam techniques, as well as ensuring the tutee has sufficient knowledge for exams. I can broaden the tutee's learning experience beyond that in schools with respect to biology if desired. I can tutor at my house, your house or a public space (perhaps a coffee shop or library) - wherever you're most comfortable. I look forward to hearing from you.

Personal Description:
I am a 20 year old 2nd year undergraduate at Coventry University studying BEng CIVIL ENGINEERING and ARCHITECTURE.
I have over a year experience in the field and from my experience,I noticed that I was able to understand all my students so perfectly because just the few years separating makes our reasoning and understanding a little bit similar which is very essential to tutoring.

Teaching Experience:

I have tutored for barely over a year students taking Maths and Physics at GCSE and Maths at A/L.Out of 18 students I tutored,16 made it and about 4 will leading pass results.

Tutoring Approach:

Tutoring is the best way of studies (especially one on one tutoring).I see it as entering the skin of the student to see and understand what he sees. That is what makes me to love, most at the times the students are weak not because they are not smart, but because there is just one thing they missed out somewhere and as a tutor, that is my duty to find that thing and delete it,it is having this in mind that I was able to make my students succeed.

Personal Description:
I have a passion about teaching. it is very satisfying to help people in their studies and make sure they achieve what they are hoping to achieve. I have a master degree in Mechanical Engineering from University College of London. I am currently working as a Homologation engineer in Nissan which is based in Cranfield. I am 24 and married with no children yet.

Teaching Experience:

During school I set up a maths club for all grades in the school to help everyone with their maths concerns. This was a great opportunity to learn more about how to teach and explain mathematics. when I started going to university, I started to teach maths and physics privately and did it until I graduated.

Tutoring Approach:

I need to understand the needs of my tutee and their aims towards his/her grade. Then I normally talk and agree with them how to approach and get better on weak areas and improve on strong areas.

Personal Description:
I am an undergraduate student studying Physics and Astronomy at Glasgow University , currently in my 4th year. I have studied Physics , Astronomy and Maths whilst at University doing all 3 subject until my second year and choosing to major in Physics & Astronomy.

I am an enthusiastic , motivated individual who is extremely friendly and approachable. I am patient and understanding when it comes to teaching people new skills.

Teaching Experience:

I have experience in tutoring at Physics and Maths up to Higher level and if possible would be able to teach the Advanced Higher curriculum.

I was the Captain for the Canoe Club in my previous year at University. Part of my role was to teach new members how to kayak and lead them down white water rivers. I have learned a host of transferable skills from teaching club members that have been of great benefit to me when teaching people Maths or Physics.

Tutoring Approach:

I thoroughly believe that Science is a practical subject and so at all times I try to get out of the books in order to teach a new concept or idea. Through demonstrations, videos or diagrams a student can often have a break through in something they may be struggling to understand. As well as this , I encourage my students to complete plenty of past exam papers and work closely with the course guides in order to be fully prepared for any exams.

I am very familiar with the curriculum and I am available to teach over the summer holidays in order to give your child a head start for the next academic year.

I am married with 2 young boys who I enjoy spending time with and educating them well! I enjoy playing football, running and charity volunteering roles. I am a very professional, organized individual and take my work very seriously!I am now working outside teaching in industry and am available to tutor Numeracy outside of working office hours Monday to Friday 9 to 5 and Saturday morning.

Teaching Experience:

I have over 7 years primary school teaching experience. These years have been spent in Year 2, 5 and 6. I have done supply teaching in all primary year groups and have been involved in preparing pupils for KS2 SATs. I will assess your child's current Numeracy level to highlight their strengths and weaknesses and what they need to learn to move on.

Tutoring Approach:

I enjoy tutoring very much, it is wonderful to see the positive changes to a child's academic achievement just by building up their confidence and taking the time to explain things clearly. I approach tutoring with a positive attitude and always use a variety of activities to help a child learn. I believe it is vital for a child to enjoy learning and therefore I always make the sessions fun. I am extremely confident that I can move your child on within Numeracy and I set weekly homework for the child to complete. I am willing to explain different Mathematical methods to parents as well!
