Two-week placement observing lower school maths classes at KS3 and KS4, and sixth form classes for A-level maths and further maths. I gave a ten-minute presentation to a year 9 class about straight line graphs, using programming software Maple. I also gave one-to-one tuition to foundation-level students preparing for GCSE exams.

I have mastered the art of breaking up lessons into chunks to make it simpler for pupils to follow and finding straight steps pupils can easily grasp with complex topics. This has been one of my enviable achievements as it has always interested my maths colleagues. Concerning year sevens and lower forms, I learnt a lot about the importance of giving rewards in the form of stamps, commendations and stickers as motivation. Every learning has been thoroughly planned using Maths Framework Standards with levels and differentiation. For bottom sets working in partnership with support staff for SEN and EAL pupils has been very enjoyable and rewarding.
The opportunity to be a year 10 and during my last term a year 7 form tutor as well as the homework club tutor at Woodlands School had also given me a strong knowledge base on the pastoral care of students and participations in extracurricular duties.

I prefer making the student understand the concepts. Which is not something tutors do anymore.
I don't just make them memorize. you'd be surprised how much more you can retain when you understand the underlying concept.
If you forget something or a formula, you can work it out from what i have taught you.
it is an approach that all of my tutees have loved so far, and they all come back for the following years. haven't had a single tutee who hasn't been extremely satisfied and all of them were of course happy with the A grades they achieved.
