Personal Description:
I am a parent and therefore understand the value of ensuring that children get the very best of education especially when they are still young. I have also had professional experience in two sectors of an economy (Automobile Marketing and Banking) and currently enrolled full time for an MBA. My experiences will therefore be quite useful to my business related students. My hobbies include watching and playing football, music, reading novels and watching movies.

Teaching Experience:

I had taught for over 5 years before taking full time professional employment. I presently give tutorials to colleagues who are having a hard time keeping up with the MBA programme.

Tutoring Approach:

My approach is simple. I start by gaining the trust of my student through series of informal talks before the day's session as this helps the student to see me as a friend in whom he/she can trust. One trust is established, the student is confident to relate the areas he/she is having a challenge and we can take it up from there.

Personal Description:
I am married with 2 children. I Love helping students reach their potential and be proud of what they have achieved.

Teaching Experience:

I have been a successful Secondary Maths Teacher for 24 years. I have worked for South Tyneside, Durham and Sunderland Education Authorities. I am currently Head of the Maths Department at an Academy in Sunderland. I am very familiar with a wide range of maths schemes and exam boards. I have given private tuition for over 20 years.

Tutoring Approach:

I prefer to teach using a logical and systematic approach rather than jump from one topic to another. I always leave work for the pupil to complete which would be checked at the beginning of the next session. For GCSE pupils I always complete a topic or section by working on previous exam questions.
My tuition has been very successful, all of my tutees have improved their grades, 2 or more grades higher depending on the time I spend with them. Some of my tutees have improved from a 'D' grade to an 'A' grade.
I offer short revision courses (2 or 3 weeks) and one-off revision sessions to prepare for exams.
I also offer sessions for more than one if students feel they would like to receive tuition with a friend.
I can usually tailor the tuition to suit most needs.

Personal Description:
Nick is an Oxford English graduate who has worked as a strategy consultant and set up various businesses as an entrepreneur, including raising $5m in funding as Development Director for a military website in San Francisco, developing a 1m property portfolio in Notting Hill and the Alps and providing financial backing for the first two albums by a singer-songwriter from Brisbane, who has now won record deals with Sony and EMI and released a number one single in Greece. In his spare time, he loves playing golf, skiing and dancing:
- He helped win the southern and national team ballroom dancing championships for Oxford University and won a Half Blue for being on the winning team in the Varsity match.
- He spent four ski seasons in Mribel and Val d'Isre and lived in Lyon, where he learned to speak French fluently with the aid of a French girlfriend.
- He also spent 18 months in Brisbane, where he became a scratch golfer, and now coaches privately and at City Golf in London.

Teaching Experience:

He has had over a hundred clients aged between six and 46 whom he teaches English, French, Maths, essay-writing and information technology. He also coaches various sports to friends and colleagues in his spare time, including golf, sailing, ballroom and Latin dancing.

Tutoring Approach:

Nick is based in London but is happy to teach in person at a mutually convenient location and/or give help and advice over the phone or by email. For example, after his golf lessons, he sends his clients email summaries of the points covered during the lessons. Clients have told him he is very patient, and his lessons have been very helpful.

"Thank you so much for your help! And thank you so much for letting me send you my draft and read over it!! I'm a bit clumsy with my sentences, so you reading it will be a great help!!

"You really have helped me in grasping the concept of this essay question and what to include!"

Personal Description:
I am a former student of Peter Symonds College, Winchester, studying a BSc. Human Physiology degree at the University of Portsmouth. Having attended Hamble Community Sports College in Hamble, I sat my GCSE exams in the summer of 2009, achieving 5A*s and 9A grades, the top of my year. My Mathematics and Statistics GCSE (taken a year early) were the highest the school had ever achieved, both gaining an A* (99.5% and 100% respectively). I studied Mathematics, Biology and Chemistry at A2 level - having completed Psychology in my AS year. I now study BSc. (Hons) Human Physiology at the University of Portsmouth, and love continuing to tutor Maths during my time here.

Teaching Experience:

During my GCSE preparation period, and during the exam time also, I tutored several students in my year and below for Mathematics and Statistics, alongside their current teaching at school. I have also, however, given tuition to other adults, most of whom were taking their Mathematics GCSE as an extra qualification in order to get a promotion at work. I would be very willing to do any type of Key Stage 2, 3 or GCSE Mathematics or Statistics teaching for a person of any age.
I have now taught many students, ranging from ages 5 - adult, and all of those which have sat exams have at least achieved the grades they were after. I have helped students to reach required grades, supplementing class teaching, catching up on missed lessons, improving old Maths skills and more recently as a standalone teacher of the entire GCSE syllabus. I have also helped individuals gain much needed confidence in their own skills and I have a lot of experience in helping students to believe in themselves!

Tutoring Approach:

Mathematics being a specific passion of mine, I encourage students to apply their own knowledge to the question, before adding any new information. By showing proof of how a calculation or question works, I believe that anyone can grasp a method if they are shown the reason behind its usage. I believe I can offer an alternative to the class driven method of teaching, and allow students to gain aptitude in spotting the need for a calculation just by reading the question, and hopefully then on to creating their own calculations and solutions! I also aim to make a heavy question of 5 or 6 marks appear to be just a group of smaller questions, making each mark easier to get. I've been teaching for four years now and I've seen many students suffer from a lack of confidence in their own ability, and I always ensure that not only does the person have core, and advanced knowledge, but that they have confidence in the fact that anything can be achieved!

Personal Description:
I am a final year medical student studying at Imperial College London. I achieved two academic distinctions(top 20%) in pre-clinical studies. I achieved grade A for all my A level subjects which are biology, chemistry, maths and AS psychology and physics, as well as A* for GCSE maths, science, Mandarin.

Teaching Experience:

I have 5-year tutoring experience and have tutored numerous students GCSE Maths with various exam boards with success.

Tutoring Approach:

I believe that one of the problems students in school encounter is that the teachers tend to explain each aspect of knowledge using their preferred ways, which may not necessarily suit the student, as different students have different ways of learning. Moreover, due to the large number of students per class, not enough time and patience is devoted to individual students. Most teachers are not able to of explore the student's capability and understanding, merely passively pass on the knowledge followed by inefficient results. As a consequence, students come home without having acquired a thorough understanding of the knowledge learnt in class, and end up having to rigidly memorise the 'boring' facts, which are usually quickly forgotten. As a result students begin to view learning as a laborious and boring process which have no applicable values in the future.

My approach: Learning can be FUN!! Independent thinking and confidence is the key.

My approach in tutoring follows two steps: 1. explore the student's own preference in the means of learning 2. incorporate these means of learning in the tutoring process, so that the student can achieve a thorough understanding of the subject in a most efficient way. I also like to focus on encouraging the development of the student's interest in the subject as well as the ability to confidently apply the knowledge , because I believe that disinterest in learning stems from an insufficient understanding and a feeling of lack of control over the knowledge. Therefore, the more you understand and have command over the subject, the more you'll love the subject! (the sense of achievement comes not only from high grades, but every step of learning along the way!!)

From my experience teaching various students of a range of levels, no matter how much they dislike the subject initially, every question they solve on their own, from first principle, helps changing the way they view the subject and gaining more confidence.

Personal Description:
I've loved Mathematics from as long as I can remember and I enjoy teaching it and tutoring others. I have studied Maths up to PhD level and so am comfortable teaching all levels of Maths. I am friendly and spend time to help my tutees understand the fundamental concepts which they need for problem solving so that they can be successful in applying this knowledge in their exams.

Teaching Experience:

I was a teaching assistant at Strathclyde University for 4 years. In that time, I lectured Mathematics to first and second year University students, organised and supervised tutorial sessions, set and marked assignments/exams and tutored students on a one-to-one basis. I have also tutored my friend's kids who were home schooled and marked work which their parents didn't have the knowledge to mark.
Also have a PGDE(S) in Mathematics and currently teaching within the new curriculum

Tutoring Approach:

I find that the most effective way of mastering concepts/tricks is the hands-on approach. So I work with my tutees particularly in areas where they are weak until they have mastered the underlying concept/approach and are able to apply it on their own to similar problems. I am patient and work with you to help you use the knowledge you already have by approaching material from a different angle to what you've maybe been shown.

Personal Description:
I graduated from University of Leeds as Masters in Bio-science in 2011. I have worked as a research technician (Faculty of biological sciences at University of Leeds) since my graduation. I have been tutoring on weekends while I was working as a research technician, as I love helping students with their grades. I have demonstrated undergraduates in the laboratory and helped them understand science from a pracical point of view. I have decided to dedicate myself as a private tutor for sometime from beginning of march. Every student needs certain kind of guidance which is different from other fellow student in his/her class. Understanding the nature of the student and helping them with their difficulties is what I do. I am a very patient girl and very good with adoloscents with their behaviour. From my experinece of tutoring and having a brother who is appearing for A level this year, I have gathered that teenagers are more comfortable taking help from tutors than parents.

Teaching Experience:

I have earlier taught students of age group 11-16 and helped them gain confidence in their weak subjects.
I was a research technician at University of Leeds so I had to demonstrate and teach them how to do things.
I love science and have higher education in field of biological science,so I am efficient and capable to teach kids the basics of science.

Tutoring Approach:

I feel tutoring is all about understanding the way the student grasps the concepts and implements. I prefer the fun-way of learning and remembering things. In this way the student remembers the basics and never forgets rather than practicing without understanding main concept. I feel once you make the student comfortable and make them realize how they should approach particular subjects, the student develops his own skills of learning. Its all about interacting with the student and finding a way so as how to make a student get intersted in particular subject. The moment the student is interested in the subject, its just matter of time that they start learning and help themselves.

Personal Description:
I am currently a theoretical physics graduate student at the University of Cambridge, studying for the Part III of the Mathematical Tripos. I hold a strong first-class Masters degree in Physics from Imperial College London. I have always had a passion for mathematics and physics and I am keen to pass it on to others.

Teaching Experience:

I have had experience tutoring two students last year for their physics and maths A-levels. They both performed very well indeed. I also enjoy demonstrating my solutions on the whiteboard at university.

Tutoring Approach:

I understand that people learn in different ways and so my approach to tutoring is very student-oriented. I will focus predominantly on what the student wants to learn and I will suggest different topics and exercises if I notice any particular areas of weakness.

Personal Description:
An experienced tutor, having provided Key Stage 3, GCSE and A-level Maths tuition since 2009.

I am self-motivated, have a positive attitude and enthusiasm for teaching Mathematics and Science.

I am currently a Science Technician at Sacred Heart Catholic High School and Sixth Form in Newcastle.

Teaching Experience:

2009 - 2011; Lecturer of Engineering, South Tyneside College
GCSE Mathematics Higher tier
BTEC Engineering at Level 1 (Introductory Diploma) through to Level 5 (Higher National Certificate).

2011 - 2012; Teacher of Mathematics, Academy 360
Foundation and Higher Level GCSE Mathematics, Edexcel Linear (1380) syllabus

2012 - 2013; Lecturer of Engineering, Middlesbrough College
BTEC Engineering and Computing Level 1 (Introductory Diploma) through to Level 5 (HNC)

Tutoring Approach:

I take a tailor made approach to tutoring from the first session by assessing what the needs of the tutee are. Then I prepare work on the identified topics for each session, as well as supporting new learning from school or college.

I encourage my tutees to develop secure problem solving skills at an early stage and how to identify where to apply them. I devise applied and scenario based problems to make things more interesting and make links between topics and even to other subjects that may be on the tutees individual curriculum, which can often help with their understanding. This along with my fun and enthusiastic style of teaching has motivated tutees to make progress in other subjects as well as that which I tutor them for.

I set homework at the end of each session to reinforce learning and help with the tutees confidence at working independently.

I am also happy to teach tutees as a pair if they are comfortable working together.

Personal Description:
I am currently a fifth year medical student at Addenbrookes Hospital and Queens' college, Cambridge. I achieved a first class in my second year coming 39th out of 340 students. I graduated last year with a BA Cantab. I offer tutoring in Biology and Physics up to A-Level / Advanced Higher level and Chemistry and Maths to GCSE. I live in Cambridge and have my own transport. My own academic interests are in Pathology and Physiology. During the summer of 2012 I will be involved in a UCL project looking at genetic adaptation involved in pregnancy at altitude in Nepal. I am very enthusiastic and enjoy teaching, so that I can pass on some of my enthusiasm and knowledge to others so that they can succeed. I have always been dedicated to achieving high academic goals and am very approachable and friendly.

Teaching Experience:

Over the last 2 years I have tutored 8 different students at GCSE level in science and maths.

Tutoring Approach:

I aim to:
1.) Inspire my students to set high academic goals and to achieve them.
2.) Provide high quality teaching in a way that makes the subject matter interesting.
3.) Give guidance on learning and revision techniques in order to instill confidence and discipline in studying.

In more detail:
1.) I believe that, given a stimulating learning environment, a disciplined approach to learning and exam preparation and confidence in one's abilities, most students reading science courses should be able to attain goals that may seem challenging at first. Having recently experienced the sharp end of university application procedures I feel that I am also in a good position to offer advice and guidance on higher education applications (particularly medical applications), including interview preparation and personal statement advice.

2.) I aim to teach underlying concepts and principles as a priority. A basic grasp of these allows finer detail to be added on top and avoids the large amounts of learning by rote that is sometimes associated with science courses. I will also, wherever possible, try to extend students' interest beyond the syllabus, as enthusiasm for a subject is a huge step on the way towards academic success.

3.) Just as the understanding of science subjects requires good application of underlying themes, learning and revision can be greatly improved by a structured approach. I aim to pass on study skills that I have learnt myself as well as spend time, if a particular examination is forthcoming, focusing on exam technique.

Personal Description:
10% discount on bank transfer payments!

I am an enthusiastic primary teacher who creates an effective learning atmosphere, by never judging the children I teach. I am good at extending children's learning, whether they need extra support or they are exceeding expectations.

I am passionate about education and want to offer children the best chance in their education. To become an excellent tutor and teacher I am working towards completing my Masters in Education. This means I can offer the most up to date educational theory.

I lived in Bradford for 4 years whilst completing my degree in teaching before moving to Brighouse when I started my new job in September 2013.

Teaching Experience:

I have worked as a supply teacher in schools throughout Halifax, Bradford and Huddersfield, teaching children from Nursery to Year 6. I have taught several GCSE students, all of which have increased their grades, some from a G to B within only a few months.

I am currently teaching full time at a school in Huddersfield whilst offering one to one tutoring for 10 different children. At present, I have only a few spaces left, so contact me now!

Tutoring Approach:

I work hard to give an excellent tuition service. I provide all the materials required and provide you with up to date assessment details. I am starting to teach with the support of the new National Curriculum Document which will start in September 2014. This will give your child the most efficient teaching and learning.

I adapt work to the needs of my learners and provide different ways of learning. I understand children learn in different ways. After working with your child for only a few sessions, I can plan sessions which are suited to your child or children.

Personal Description:
I work as a Maths Academic Mentor in a local secondary school. I work with students on the borderline of success. My job is to raise their understanding of Maths and to help them raise their attainment along the way to getting a grade 'C' in Maths.
I am very reliable, flexible to your childs learning style with an open mind and a non judgemental attitude.

Teaching Experience:

I spend my time at school in identifying students who are not working at their potential levels in Maths. I work across all the years, but specifically Years 10/11.
Once identified, I work with students in class, one to one, or with small groups and also afterschool. The majority of students in my group will be around the grade D/C borderline and my job is to take them that one step forwards to a secure grade C and then onwards to higher grades. However, I can help your child Improve at any level including A and A*.
This is what I do everyday and over the years I have built a very firm understanding of the aspects of Maths and the specific topics which cause students to lose marks.

Tutoring Approach:

It's important to build relations with students, to promote confidence and encourage independent learning.

This takes time, but once I identify the areas of difficulty for the student. I can target those areas (Fractions, Factorising, Percentages for example) and along with the major 12 topics of Maths which contain the 'must get' marks, I can help your child to make weekly progress by teaching, practising and then testing, to check their learning is progressing. .
