Personal Description:
I am a parent and therefore understand the value of ensuring that children get the very best of education especially when they are still young. I have also had professional experience in two sectors of an economy (Automobile Marketing and Banking) and currently enrolled full time for an MBA. My experiences will therefore be quite useful to my business related students. My hobbies include watching and playing football, music, reading novels and watching movies.

Teaching Experience:

I had taught for over 5 years before taking full time professional employment. I presently give tutorials to colleagues who are having a hard time keeping up with the MBA programme.

Tutoring Approach:

My approach is simple. I start by gaining the trust of my student through series of informal talks before the day's session as this helps the student to see me as a friend in whom he/she can trust. One trust is established, the student is confident to relate the areas he/she is having a challenge and we can take it up from there.

Personal Description:
I have an academic background and over 17 years' experience in industry. My first degree was in Physics with subsidiary Maths, as part of the Natural Sciences Tripos at Cambridge University. I worked for a year as a laboratory physicist on image intensifiers for the US Space Telescope, and subsequently did research in astronomy at the Royal Greenwich Observatory, leading to a D.Phil. from Sussex University.

After a brief period in industry, I moved abroad to work as a computer software contractor at the European Space Agency's (ESA's) operations centre in Germany. For the following 10 years, I was a professional software engineer working in both the UK and in Germany on various satellite-related projects, for ESA, for the German Space Agency, for the British MoD and for the European Meteorological Satellite organisation.

I then worked for 2 years as a computational physicist at BAe, engaged in the design of two scientific research satellites for ESA. I was a member of a team designing the on-board "AOCS": systems that sense and control the satellites' orientations in space.

Following this, I changed career direction and went to work for 4 years in the City of London for a series of investment banks.

Since returning to Bath, I have worked as a volunteer at an environmental charity and done some software development for a private client and for a company near Wells.

There may be more details on my website: simoncaldwell.eu.

Teaching Experience:

During my research degree I taught classroom 'A'-level physics and 'A'-level maths for a time, at a private school.

I have been a physics tutor since Spring 2006.

Tutoring Approach:

In teaching I aim to combine an old-fashioned structured approach with the best of modern clarity and imagery.

Tutoring Approach:

My approach I believe is a successful one. I begin with an understanding of HOW an individual learns best such as visual, audio or tactile/kinaesthetic. Once this has been established, all tutoring will be adapted to suit the needs of the learner. Next would be to determine the students original interest in the subject and the motivation behind wanting to succeed at it. Organisation is a crucial factor which I will offer students support with through time management. Students undertaking A levels wishing for assistance with a UCAS application can be supported with this as I have 8 years experience of preparing students for university. It is very important that whoever I tutor makes a commitment to supporting their own education. I can support learning but I will not do it for the student, instead getting the student to work out what their blocks to education are and to work around them are far more important for lifelong learning.

Personal Description:
Hi, my name is Grainne and I am currently studying Broadcast Journalism at University. Being a student myself I know how young people today feel being under pressure, therefore I think I would be a great tutor as I know how to cope with the pressure and use it to help me achieve the best I can. I find that being taught by teachers can be hard for students as they have set learning techniques for a whole class that might not benefit the individual tutee. However, having a tutor gives the tutee a one on one session which individualises their learning style, enabling them to achieve their full potential.
I am hard-working and committed which allows me to impart my knowledge onto other keen learners. Having an enthusiastic tutor will encourage the tutee to learn and make the learning sessions a pleasant experience.

Teaching Experience:

I have previously helped at a local Primary School working with a Year One class. I helped the students with their work which included various subjects, reading and especially their spelling and writing. This opportunity has given me a great insight into teaching and encouraged me with tutoring as it has given me confidence in working with children, patience and helped me with different learning styles. Working with young children has definitely shown me that every child is different in how learn and how they cope, so I try to find the learning technique that suits each individual child.
Throughout my Secondary education I achieved many things I am very proud of. One being a Reading mentor; this enabled me to help younger students develop their confidence and help them with their learning and reading skills. Having a mentor at a similar age to you helps you relate to each other and helps the tutee feel at ease and comfortable with learning. As a Reading Mentor I helped my younger student gain a lot more confidence in herself and in her learning.
Also in my last year of Primary education I was given the chance to be the Teacher for a day. I was able to plan and organise the lesson schedule and what we would do in the lessons. I helped the students with their work and encouraged them to do better and if they were stuck with something- patiently helped them work it out. I think this experience foreshadowed how I want to pass on my knowledge I have now on to younger people and help them achieve the best they can.

Tutoring Approach:

I believe in having a calm and relaxed approach to tutoring that way the tutee doesn't feel a great amount of pressure on them selves. There will be challenges throughout the tutoring where tutees may struggle with things, but my job is to help push and develop their skills so that they can work them out on their own with ease;concluding in great end results. All students have different ways of learning whether they are Auditory, Visual, or Kinesthetic we can find the way that suits them best and adapt it to their learning scheme to make sure they are learning as best as they can. I will help the tutees in any way I can to help them achieve the results to the best of their ability.

Personal Description:
My name is Julia and I am 22 years old. I have just finished the third year of my MSci Astrophysics degree at University College London, but am moving home over the summer break from university so I am looking to tutor in Birmingham until late September.

I completed 5 A-Levels (Maths, French, Physics, Chemistry and General Studies) at King Edward VI Camp Hill School for Girls in Birmingham, receiving 3 A grades (Physics, French, General Studies) and 2 B grades (Maths, Chemistry). I have a keen interest in the languages as well as the sciences, and at GCSE received 9 A* grades and 4 A grades, so am able to teach a very wide spectrum of subjects confidently. I can only add six subjects to my profile but this is not comprehensive, so feel free to message me if you need a particular subject that I haven't mentioned!

If your child has struggled with this year's school work or you are concerned about how well they will progress to the next year of study, then I can provide booster classes to help prepare them for the start of term. If you just want to give your child a head-start on next year's work or keep them on track over the long summer holiday, then I have a wealth of resources that can support and stretch your child.

Teaching Experience:

I have previous experience tutoring for both Physics and French at secondary school at GCSE level, and in the last 4 years I have taught almost 15 students in a wide range of subjects. I am looking for students to teach over the summer holidays during July, August and September. I also have extensive babysitting experience as I was a nanny for three young girls last year, so if you need a combination of a nanny/babysitter and someone who can help with homework, then I can help!

Tutoring Approach:

I hope to encourage more people to take an interest in the sciences and study them at a higher level, and after my degree I plan to take a teaching qualification and hopefully work in secondary schools to achieve this goal. I also feel having a second language is more important now than ever, and I hope I can pass on my passion for languages to my students - I have been teaching myself Italian since Christmas and hope to study more intensively over summer. Parents of my students consistently describe me as responsible and approachable, and are constantly recommending me to their friends. Feel free to get in touch if you have any questions - I pride myself on being approachable and flexible.

My attitude is that if you are willing to work, I am willing to help you. The degree to which you are successful is dependent on my guidance and your hard work. There is no reason why you can't achieve what you want.

When I take a student on I provide a service that I consider excellent value for money. Obviously lessons are paid for by hour. However I do provide my contact details and will answer e-mail queries outside of tutor time. I also, often and with good success, will make and send a video lesson to help my students.

Personal Description:
I am a fully qualified teacher with experience of teaching and tutoring maths, biology, chemistry and physics to GCSE level and physics to A-level. Prior to qualifying as a teacher, I worked as a university researcher coaching undergraduates in their final year projects and then as a teaching assistant in a secondary school providing small group and one to one tuition tailored for the needs of individual students. I also have experience in preparing candidates for 11+ school examinations.

Teaching Experience:

Following eight years working in university education, I have spent sevenyears working in secondary schools including two years as a teaching assistant, providing small group and one to one tuition, one year working towards my PGCE and a further four years as a fully qualified teacher.

Tutoring Approach:

I carefully evaluate the learning needs of each individual student, looking at their existing knowledge, strengths and weaknesses to provide a structured approach to the tuition sessions.

I provide a friendly, positive approach to teaching maths and science to build confidence in subjects that some students find daunting. By exploring the underlying meaning behind concepts that may cause difficulties, I aim to improve understanding and help the student gain confidence in their own ability to learn.

For students taking examinations, I ensure a thorough preparation by focusing on exam technique and concentrating on past examination questions and analysis of mark schemes to allow students to achieve the best results that they are capable of.

For students preparing for 11+ examinations I focus on building confidence in key skills needed for success, using a variety of strategies and activities tailored for the particular exams that the student will be taking.

Personal Description:
I am a very experienced and successful tutor of English and Maths. I did an English degree at Cambridge, a PGCE at Nottingham, and then worked as an English and Drama teacher for 10 years, latterly as Head of Department. I have worked in educational and children's television since then, as a producer, director and writer. I have made over 500 programmes for broadcast on the BBC, Channel 4, and around the world, winning numerous educational awards in the UK and internationally. I am married with two children.

Teaching Experience:

I taught in and near London, for four years in a grammar school and for six years in two different comprehensives, teaching English Language and Literature, and Drama.
My teaching experience more recently has been through creating television scripts, CD-ROMs and websites, especially helping young people to enjoy and learn maths. Supporting my daughter through her GCSEs and A levels has kept me very much in touch with students' needs, and working with my son has given me great insight into children with special needs.
I am currently tutoring seventeen students, ranging in age from six years to adult.

Tutoring Approach:

I help children, young people and adults learn through motivating them and building their confidence. I aim to make learning thorough, clear, enjoyable and inspirational; to make obscure things interesting, complex things simple, and dull things entertaining. Learning should be purposeful and fun.

Personal Description:
I recently obtained a masters degree in Mathematics from Queen Mary University and have been working as a Maths tutor since February 2011. As a result, apart from familiarising myself well with the UK system and curriculum, I have further developed my experience and teaching skills.
I'm very friendly and passionate with what I do. I'm enthusiastic with teaching and maths and trying to pass this feeling to my students as well. Maths is not plainly something you have to learn but something fun you can learn.

Teaching Experience:

Have been working as a maths tutor for pupils taking common entrance, GCSE, IGCSE and A-levels, for the past year.
Furthermore, I have worked as a maths and physics tutor for three years in Greece and with pupils of ages 11-17. Below there's a selection of past and on going clients:
Leyla: (17 yo girl) Home-tutoring for Maths AS-level. Focusing on C1, C2 and S1. Layla achieved an A in 2012.
James: (11 yo boy) Preparation for Common Entrance. Succeeded in getting a place in King's College School, Wimbledon.
Nicole: (18 yo girl) Home-tutoring for Maths A2-level. Concentrating on C3, C4 and S2. Nicole's result in 2012 was a B.
Olie and Rosy: (14yo boy and 12yo girl) home schooling on Maths and Physics GCSE since September 2011.
Jasper: (11 yo boy)After-school-tutoring for a year now. Focused on preparation for SATs. Jasper's assessment results have improved to an A.
Sharan: (1st year University of Bristol, Business Studies) Exercise sheet guidance and preparation for summer exams in Maths and Statistics.
Seb: (14 yo boy) Weekend home-tutoring for Maths IGCSE. Went from a predicted C to a B.
James: (17 yo boy) Home-tutoring for Maths A2-level, focusing on C3, C4 and S2.
Charlotte: (1st year University of Queen Mary, Mathematical Studies) Assisted with problem sheets and exam preparation on Calculus and Probability.
Tom: (1st year UCL Economics) Guidance given on problem sheets as well as exam preparation on Mathematics for Business.
Celina: (10yo girl) 11+ tutoring. Preparing for exams next January for Godolphin and Latymer school.
Kit: (13yo boy) Currently in the scholarship stream at Ludgrove. Intensive preparation for the Eton scholarship.

Tutoring Approach:

I strive to create a well balanced relationship with pupils. I set clear targets for my students and expect them to develop throughout our sessions. Additionally, I emphasize on the suitable approach for each individual in order to have the best results possible. Finally, I consider humour an essential part of my sessions as it creates a better learning environment and a more enjoyable session.

I`m very flexible with days and times as long as sufficient notice is given.
Sessions could take place at student`s or my current residence at Tooting, as well as a mutually agreed location.

*With regard to my rates, they are negotiable for block booking and discounted for trial sessions.

Personal Description:
My Name is Billy and i am currently studying for a BA in Politics and East European Studies at University College London. I am fresh out of school and still have all the vital knowledge and exam technique that is still relevent to todays GCSE and A-levels. I am friendly and willing to work with all abilities, i am very much looking forward to helping others maximize their potential and improving their final grade. I gained 6 A stars and 6 A grades at GCSE, while gaining 2 A and 2 B grades at A level.

Teaching Experience:

I have so far helped family and friends, to a great deal of success. Before this summers exams, i helped a friend turn around his predicted D in economics to a very high B (78%). I was active in my school, tutoring struggling GCSE french and maths students who were at a loss or alienated from teachers. Often, getting help from someone who has recently gone through the same exam is the most valuable tool to any student. I found older students to be far more useful than teachers, older student experience is what i aim to provide.

Tutoring Approach:

With public exams, its not what you know but how you know it. I will aim to provide hands on exam technique with the use of real past questions and examples, starting from the basic right through to the most difficult and nuanced problems. In this way i aim to add one grade higher grade at the very least to a tutees prediction.

Personal Description:
I am a first year PhD student in Bioengineering at Imperial College, London. I also did my undergraduate studies at Imperial. Furthermore, I completed my schooling in Trinidad and Tobago. where my A level courses included Mathematics, Chemistry and Physics, while GCSE courses included Mathematics, Spanish, Biology, English Literature and English Language, Chemistry and Physics.

Teaching Experience:

During my undergraduate studies, I volunteered with the Pimlico Connection where I visited a primary school every week, where I assisted in teaching the students (Years 7-9) Maths and Science. During the 2010 summer, I worked with the Teach First Student Associate scheme at Ashcroft Academy where I worked with A level students. My main role involved assisting in teaching Biology and Physics while mentoring and encouraging the students to pursue tertiary education. Furthermore, for the last year, I have been a Graduate Teaching Assistance where I work through Fluid Mechanic tutorials (2 classes of 25) with undergraduate students.

Tutoring Approach:

I know that students have different approaches to learning, so I always try to explain things as clearly as possible using different examples and questions so students will have a broader understanding of the concept. Furthermore I believe that students would excel more when they understand the topic rather than cramming at the last minute for exams. I think that practice (either through examples, or past papers) is important for exam preparation.

Personal Description:
I keep myself busy with:
-tutoring
-looking after my family
-walking my dog
-baking
-gardening
-reading
-off road cycling

Teaching Experience:

I have been a Mathematics teacher since 2001 and have been a Head of Department for Mathematics, a Learning Zone Coordinator for Mathematics and ICT and also a Mathematics Consultant for a local City Council.

I have experience of working with both Primary and Secondary School children but my career as a teacher has been mainly in Secondary Schools.

I have also taught English at lower GCSE level (up to grade C).

Tutoring Approach:

I am very kind, sympathetic and non judgemental in my approach to tutoring and work very hard to make sure that all my students feel confident when working with me - it is vitally important that students do not feel embarrassed when making a mistake as this prevents them from learning.

I fully encourage and help to develop each student's confidence in mathematical discussions which allows them to think through mathematical problems when they are doing school work or taking an examination.

All of my previous GCSE students have achieved A* to C grades.
