Personal Description:
I am a parent and therefore understand the value of ensuring that children get the very best of education especially when they are still young. I have also had professional experience in two sectors of an economy (Automobile Marketing and Banking) and currently enrolled full time for an MBA. My experiences will therefore be quite useful to my business related students. My hobbies include watching and playing football, music, reading novels and watching movies.

Teaching Experience:

I had taught for over 5 years before taking full time professional employment. I presently give tutorials to colleagues who are having a hard time keeping up with the MBA programme.

Tutoring Approach:

My approach is simple. I start by gaining the trust of my student through series of informal talks before the day's session as this helps the student to see me as a friend in whom he/she can trust. One trust is established, the student is confident to relate the areas he/she is having a challenge and we can take it up from there.

Personal Description:
Hi all, I'm Ben a 26 year old full time private tutor. I've been working as a private tutor now for 5 years and they have flown by! Tutoring is not just a job to me it's a passion. I'm a laid back guy who's friendly and easy to talk to, I pride myself in my interpersonal skills as well as my academic knowledge I believe both are equally important for tutors to have.

I graduated from Kings College Cambridge University in June '08 with a B.A hons in Natural Sciences, having attended the Brooksbank school and 6th form where I achieved 3 A's and 2 B's at A-level in Maths, Physics, Biology, Chemistry and General Studies. I have been employed by Calderdale Council since July '08 working with children and young people in various roles. I started tutoring as a hobby as it has always given me great satisfaction and enjoyment as well as keeping me in touch with subject that I intend to get back into one day. In June '10 I left my post with Calderdale Council and now work full time as a tutor doing a job I adore.

For my hobbies I enjoy swimming, playing football, DJing, gigging and playing in bands.

Teaching Experience:

I have been tutoring professionally since January '09 and in the period until June'13 I have had the privilege of tutoring more than 100 students spread across all the subjects that I offer. I have taught all abilities ranging from oxford/cambridge applicants to students just wanting to pass the subject, no matter what you're level is I'll work as hard as I can to insure you get best results possible. I have worked full time as a tutor since September '10 meaning that I have been able to dedicate all my time, effort and focus into making sure that all my students excel.

Tutoring Approach:

Through my experience I have found that students learn much better when they are relaxed and comfortable. This has led me to adopt a laid back and informal approach to ensure that the learning environment maximises the tutees ability to learn. I understand that everyone has individual needs and learns differently and because of this I am very adaptable in the way I teach. I focus my lessons on two main areas: the first involves making sure the tutee has a firm understanding of the topic and all the principles that are involved within it removing any misconceptions that would hamper further progress. The second area works on the tutees technique working with them to ensure they can understand, digest and answer questions.

Due to my passion for teaching it gives me the drive to go the extra mile to make sure that all my students fulfill their aspirations. I have helped my previous students with University applications, coursework, interviews, CV's and job applications. Due to working full time as a tutor now I am able to offer constant support for all my tutees so I am able to help whenever they need it.

Personal Description:
I am enthusiastic, approachable, bubbly professional who lives for teaching. Well articulated and presentable. Teaching is my profession which I really do enjoy doing. I was born in Wales, taught in Swansea and Birmingham. I have also tutored through local authorities and schools. I am well specialized in Mathematics and very much enjoy the subject.

Teaching Experience:

I specialize in Secondary Mathematics 11-18 years, with teacher training from the Birmingham University. I have also tutored via Fleet tutors and the local authority, including family and friends. I have experienced teaching Maths in several comprehensive.

Tutoring Approach:

I prefer to be direct and highly organised and I put forth the tutees to pick up these skills early on as it makes teaching and learning a lot less difficult. I explain the whys in mathematics rather than work on solving solutions as I believe grasping an intuitive concept will lead to the material staying longer in the memory and utilised in future practical use. My approach to teaching is simply to teach in a way that pupils never forget.

Personal Description:
I am a qualified, approachable and professional tutor with five years teaching experience. I am friendly, reliable and patient and I believe in building confidence to help students achieve their potential. My passion is teaching to students of all abilities.

I graduated seven years ago at the University of Liverpool and achieved a Masters Degree in Chemistry with subsidiary modules in Biology. I then completed my teacher training at the University of Nottingham, before going on to work full time as a secondary school teacher.

Teaching Experience:

For the last five years I have taught:

- Combined Science to Key Stage 3 (in a secondary school environment)
- Biology and Chemistry to GCSE and A Level (in a secondary school environment)
- A range of examination boards, including AQA, OCR, Edexcel and also the IGCSE qualification
- In both a comprehensive and an independent school
- One-to-one private tutoring sessions to students finding Biology, Chemistry, Mathematics and Science difficult
- One-to-one private tutoring sessions to students needing to achieve the highest grades in A Level Biology and Chemistry for entry into Medicine and Oxbridge
- One-to-one private tutoring sessions to primary aged pupils for Mathematics and Science

As well as teaching and private tutoring I also work as an Examiner so I have an additional insight into exam preparation.

My role as a teacher in an independent school also involves marking entry examinations, so I am able to prepare students for these exams.

Before qualifying as a teacher I volunteered for Eon's Right to Read Programme, helping primary aged pupils with their literacy. I also volunteered in a Special Needs Sixth Form, helping students with reading, writing, maths, science and skills such as cookery.

During my industrial placement year at university I worked as a Research Scientist for GlaxoSmithKline, applying Biology and Chemistry to researching new pharmaceuticals. I frequently draw on this experience to stretch and challenge students needing to achieve the highest grades for University entry.

Tutoring Approach:

I thoroughly enjoy motivating my students and I have built a variety of teaching resources to help students of all abilities. My students tell me that I help them break down complex information into more manageable sections. As well as preparing students for examinations I try to inspire them to enjoy and apply their subjects beyond the focus of exams. I strongly believe that learning should be enjoyable and accessible to everyone.

I understand how daunting it can be for parents and students to begin tuition so I am more than happy for parents to stay during my lessons. I am very willing to have a trial lesson to begin with and refund any referral fee if you decide not to continue with tuition. I can provide references and testimonials from my previous students and the schools I have worked for, as well as an enhanced CRB check. I am happy to set homework, mark examination papers and give detailed feedback, as well as organise additional lessons during examination periods.

Personal Description:
Feedback from my previous students:

1) "Usama tutored our son between March and June 2012. We found Usama to be highly professional, knowledgable and reliable. Our son`s final A level grade increased from a D to a B and the subject area that Usama specifically taught the final grade was an A. We would strongly recommend Usama as a tutor"

2) "Having Usama as a tutor has allowed me to make acheievable targets, and he enables me to learn at my own pace. He has helped me gain confidence in both AS Chemistry and Biology and his easy-going nature makes the lessons enjoyable and interesting"

My Profile:

I graduated in 2010 with a 2:1 in BSc (Hons) Biomedical Sciences from University College London (UCL). My undergraduate research work has been chosen for publication in a peer-reviewed journal.

I am now in the third year of the Postgraduate Dentistry course at UCLan. I achieved the joint highest mark in my first year of Dentistry. I am very friendly, approachable and understanding. I have very strong communication skills, strengthened further by my clinical experience from working with patients of all ages and learning capacities.

I like learning new languages and can speak elementary Mandarin. I love travelling and have a great interest in outdoor activities.

Teaching Experience:

I am currently tutoring students in Lancaster. My two A level Biology students achieved three grade improvements from D to A and U to C in this Summer's exams. I am determined to build up on this very encouraging outcome.

Before moving to the North West, I have taught students in London including younger students in my family and the local area in London and they are now studying at top ranking London Universities.

Tutoring Approach:

I start by assessing the current level of understanding of the student. I agree a personalised plan and ways of assessing progress with the student. I ask students which method is most suitable for them and proceed accordingly.

I prepare my lessons for the agreed topics to keep the sessions objective and formulate examples and demonstrations to make them interesting.

I believe in understanding concepts, so that any questions or problems can then be put into context. Near exam time, I go through the same concepts again to ensure understanding and practice by using past exam papers.

Personal Description:
A maths graduate from the University of Liverpool. Since graduating I have gained significant experience in the commercial, education and charity sectors. a former Commercial director of a regional airport and later having set up the School of Artisan Food I have a wide range of work and life experience which all provide very useful material for my teaching.

Teaching Experience:

I have experience of private tuition dating back to my time at University.

In recent years, I have taught Finance at the University of Derby and my module enjoyed one of the highest pass rates for the year.

Tutoring Approach:

My approach to tutoring is to help the student understand the subject, and not only understand the subject but also how the subject is applied in real life, and indeed to their own lives. I have found this really helps the student to be able to grasp the subject.

We all want exam results, but I like the students to understand what we are doing as this way they get skills that will stay with them long after the exams are over.

I am quite an engaged tutor who is responsible and adaptable to the student. I do not have a one size fits all mentality, in fact it is because I don't have this I enjoy private tutoring. I like to work with the students and build their strengths and help them with any difficulties they may be having.

Responsibilities as a Secondary school Teacher:
Plan and carry out lessons
Keep records of students grades
Set students targets either in a formal or informal setting. Eg parents evening or informal meeting with parent
Attended parents evening
Mark children in yr 11 course work
Have extra sessions for children who are behind in their coursework
Mark student's class work coursework, record their grades and plan based on weak and or strong areas identified
Ensure that students work to their full potential
Work closely with department heads and head of the years that I teach to monitor the student development in different areas

Tutoring Approach:

My approach to tutoring is an investigative and supportive. ie their is a lot of logics or knowledge that I child sometimes laready have, by questioning sometimes these will come out. That way the child will remember the information fo a longer time as he/she contributed to the answer. She/he feels valued and a part of the teaching and learning process.
Each child I tutor is alway given a diagnostic test. From the test I would do a Individual Learning Plan. During tutoring as I identify weak areas I address them individually. I see education as a completed chain link, that is if a child is lacking in certain background knowledge, they will find it difficult to move forward effectively with their education. Unless these weak areas are address and their knowledge concretize they find it difficult to move on.
Parent's feedback is apart of this process and children must be praised throughout their learning, when neccessary and this needs to be done in context.

Personal Description:
I am a passionate and committed physicist with teaching experience at the 11-18 level. My enthusiasm for the subject is infectious and my goal is not simply to teach to exam papers, although in the testing season this is necessary, but rather to stimulate genuine excitement and curiosity in the subject; I want all my tutees to both enjoy physics and get the best grades possible for them! In addition to teaching Physics, I also offer tutoring in Mathematics. My physics training has given me a very strong grounding in the subject.

Academically, I hold a Masters in Experimental Physics with First Class Honours from the University of York. In addition, I won the Masters Project prize for my final year research project. I will be studying at Imperial College from October on their MSc in Quantum Fields and Fundamental Forces course. with a view to studying for a PhD in theoretical physics.

In my free time, aside from physics, I enjoy playing drums, singing, reading and keeping fit. I tend to have a common interest with most people.

Teaching Experience:

I enrolled on a PGCE course last year but found that, although I was very good one to one, my dyslexia prevented me from being an effective classroom teacher. I therefore switched to tutoring and have found great success and fulfilment tutoring A level Physics.

Tutoring Approach:

As a dyslexic, undiagnosed until university, I have first hand experience of both struggling at school and overcoming difficulties. I strongly believe that the two most common problems holding back many students pertain to organisation and confidence. Indeed, the two issues are inextricably linked. For a start I believe that for many students, good academic organisation must be taught explicitly. Once the student is well organised I work to build up their confidence by getting them to solve lots of problems whilst providing plenty of praise and individual feedback. My central teaching philosophy is to 'equip students with the skills they need that they may take ownership of their study'. I aim to turn students into active and motivated problem solvers rather than passive fact accumulators! My aim is not that every student gets and A*, my aim is that every student maximises their potential.

Personal Description:
I have a First Class Honours degree in Maths from Bristol University and am a qualified Maths teacher with a PGCE from the Institute of Education. I have worked as a maths teacher in a secondary school for the past two years gaining experience in teaching students from ages 11-18 of wide ranging abilities (including very high achieving students as well as those with Special Educational Needs). I am also an experienced tutor with 5+ years experience of tutoring students for 11+, GCSE and A level.

I specialise in teaching AS and GCSE maths (in particular C1, C2 and S1), and was Maths A level Coordinator for my school's new sixth form. All my students met or exceeded their target grades in their summer exams. Maths A level teaching was highly commended by Ofsted in last year's inspection and individually my teaching was graded Outstanding.

Teaching Experience:

School A level Coordinator (1 Year)
Secondary School Maths Teacher, ages 11-18 (2 Years)
Tutor 11+, GCSE, A Level (5+ Years)

Tutoring Approach:

I understand the importance of adapting my teaching to suit the individual student to ensure they are encouraged and challenged. I have seen in many cases that low confidence can be a huge barrier to achievement and it is always my priority to build students' self esteem to help ensure they reach their potential. I also know that some students find it difficult to ask for help; I strongly encourage students to ask as many as questions as they have and I always take steps to ensure they have fully understood each topic.

My classes are structured to follow the national curriculum, using the latest specifications and teaching materials.

Personal Description:
Science and engineering is my passion. If you are struggling with science I will make it easier!
I am a PhD at the 2nd year working at the Materials Department of the Imperial College of London. My main work is on advanced ceramics and metals. Since I started the PhD I have expanded my work with lab tutorials and supervising a few master's students with their thesis project. I like to help people understanding complex topics making them easier and practical.

Teaching Experience:

I have been a tutor when I was an undergraduate and I liked the experience. Thus, as I started my PhD at the Imperial College I looked for other teaching experience. I have been registered as Graduate Teaching Assistant after attending a course on teaching at the Imperial. This allowed me to work as Lab Demonstrator last year. I will be an assistant this autumn term too.

Tutoring Approach:

I prefer to know the subject program in advance and to discuss the weak points of the student about it. Therefore, we can understand how much needs to be done and on what we need to focus our work.
My personal approach on study has always been towards the understanding of the subject more than merely memorize it. Often this may look difficult, but almost everything can be made simpler with practical examples and once understood it is unlikely to forget it. Hence, I tend to transfer the same approach, which worked so well with me, to the tutees.

The tutoring is possible at the Imperial College or at your home.
I am available for tuition mainly in the evenings, usually after 5 pm. However, other suitable times may be arranged.
