Personal Description:
Hello, my name is Sian and I am 20 years old. I have just finished my first year of a combined degree of Childhood, Youth and Community Studies with Health, Community and Social Care Studies at Winchester University and I am about to start a new degree of Youth Work and Community Development at Hull University in September. I have a special interest in working with children and would like to work with youth offenders in the future teaching them basic education and life skills.

I am determined, dependable, and creative, I have taught in many styles including using music, rhymes and other creative techniques to learning and memorising but also your every day study skills.

I specialise in Drama, Performing Arts and Maths. I have tutored GCSE Maths for five years now and have an AS Level in Mathematics. I also have vast experience in Performing Arts and have been in several performances throughout school and college years including roles such as the Inspector from 'An Inspector Calls', The Good Witch from 'The Wizard Of Oz' and Alice from 'The Button Box' along with many roles in original plays.

I have many awards for my commitment to learning, progress achievements, performances and other certificates such as Community Action Projects, First Aid, Public Speaking and Amazing contribution to Drama, along with an A* in an Extended Project Qualification based on Social Services Action.

I am willing to travel, my profile currently states 5 miles but if you have good access to public transport I am willing to go the extra mile for your learning.

Teaching Experience:

I have just left my position as a Higher Education Ambassador and a Care Ambassador for Hampshire County Council and have worked with children and young adults for over 5 years; including mentoring, tutoring and supporting them throughout education and daily life. I have also worked with young people with different learning needs, including those with physical or learning difficulties. Part of my previous work required me to support children in different learning environments, such as university, in outdoor environments during bushcraft sessions, and also individually during sessions or free time to help them decide what path was best for them.

I have tutored GCSE students in Maths for 5 years and gained an award from Hampshire County Council and my school/college for my work supporting other students especially during their exams and assessments.

During my secondary school years I was a regular teachers assistant taking time out of my free periods to offer other students support during Maths Lessons, and preparing lessons for a small groups of students which I was given to teach after school and marking papers. I was taught by my own head teacher how to prepare lessons and teach them, making them fun and enjoyable but also targeting areas which needed the most improvement.

I have been an active member of the homework clubs at all of my schools and colleges being a student mentor and student union representative offering to support to other students as well as friends and family who needed extra support especially in Maths and Drama.

I have plenty of work experience in schools catering to all ages, including some nursery and college work experience supporting children and adults of all ages to expand their knowledge and develop no matter the age.

I have also volunteered with teenagers, and young people helping then to develop life skills, learn basic academic skills and develop their knowledge including one activity where I supported a group to do a community action project and help the local community teaching them communication and public speaking skills.

Tutoring Approach:

I am kind and caring yet firm so I will base learning around the tutee and the support they need. I will help the young person by not only teaching them but helping them to develop the skills they will need in the future to be able to teach themselves and develop their knowledge.
I would like the tutee to feel comfortable during a session and I take a friendly approach, I do not intend to gain a friendship with the tutee but I find a fair, balanced and equal relationship is best for both the tutor and the tutee and for the best development and progress.
I will sit with the tutee and support them with a learning plan, targeting what areas they need most work with small tests at the end of a topic in order to make sure that they have fully grasped the knowledge, if they have not then I will take time to go over this again. I develop my teaching technique to each learner, if one is better with sheets and learning by the book I shall help them that way, if one learns with physical examples then I shall make sure that each learner is equipped with all they need to gain the relevant knowledge.

I feel that I would be a great tutor and I can connect with children for three reasons:

1. I'm not really old and I have siblings, I know how to engage and make learning fun so they don't feel intimidated by a teacher appearance
2. I have managed to develop my own learning skills to suit my abilities and I work closely with each tutee to use their skills to improve their education. If they have learning difficulties, I show them how to use them to their advantage and find ways of learning that suits them.
3. I'm not perfect. I teach children that everyone is different and that being yourself is most important. I would never compare one student to another.

Having said this, I will aim to provide the best service of education I can, along with squeezing every ounce of potential out of each tutee so that they can ultimately reach or exceed their own goals and expectations so that they have the ability to get the best opportunities and have the best education possible.

Tutoring Approach:

I have Special Needs University qualifications and counselling skills, which enables me to tutor students that may encounter emotional difficulties in their learning. I believe that motivation is the key factor to tutoring, as it needs to be addressed continuously in the process of learning.

As a tutor, I encourage my students to reflect upon their mistakes and to understand how to tackle the next step of their learning, without having a negative response.

I usually have the first lesson together with the parents so that the student feels comfortable and parents can observe my teaching; I present a folder containing the CRB form, qualifications, QTS certificate and letters of recommendations from parents. I teach from home in a calm and stimulating environment.

Personal Description:
I am an independent tutor with a strong scientific background and have lived in England since Aug 1965. Most of my school and college education took place in Dudley (West Midlands) and I studied Biochemistry, at Leeds University (1975-8). I am married and have lived in Cheshire since Dec 1978. We have a son and a daughter; both graduated from Universities in Manchester. Following my voluntary redundancy from AstraZeneca, (Jun 2008), I am now a self-employed Tutor / Consultant. In addition, I am able to speak additional languages (Punjabi; studied up to GCE A-level and Hindi) and prepared to travel up to 5 miles. I have been tutoring Yr 7 - 13 students, in Maths and all Science subjects, since Oct 2008. In addition, I have prepared students from Yr 6, for the 11+ exams; frequently used by private schools, as entrance exams. Testimonials / References (from Students and Parents) are available, on request.

Teaching Experience:

During my long service in the Pharma industry (~30 years), I have run many short courses and workshops. During 2005/6, I mentored a pupil (Year 10/11) at St. Peter's High School, Longsight, organised by the University of Manchester. In the past, I have also been responsible for organising and running the weekly classes at the Sikh Temple (Gurdwara), for teaching youngsters the Sikh way of life & Punjabi culture, in helping to improve their knowledge and integration into the Western Society over a period of ten years.

Tutoring Approach:

I can provide tuition to individual students (or small groups) in the form of friendly, relaxed lessons. Teaching sessions are always customised to meet the specific requirement of the students. Generally, I enjoy teaching and considered to have a caring approach. I use a combination of computer and 'white board' based approach, for creating informal interactive / discussion type sessions, with some form of regular tests and re-cap sessions. Closer to the exams, the lessons are much more focused on using past papers covering a wide range of questions, to enable the students increase their confidence in preparation for the examinations.

Personal Description:
I am a self employed musican and tutor. I come from an academic physics background having achieved a first class masters in Physics during 2008-2012. Since then I have branched out considerably, moving towards musical and dramatic performance in my professional life. I am a self employed tutor, drum teacher and session drummer. I retain a keen interest in all things Physics and Maths and have a passion for teaching. Having ADD I'm particularly skilful at helping students with that condition and also dyslexia/dyspraxia. Finally, I'm also a training actor, and am currently preparing to take my grade 6 exam at LAMBDA, London. The training has helped me achieve exceptional verbal communication ability, a fantastic asset for any teacher.

In my spare time I write and record songs. I am an accomplished singer.

Teaching Experience:

I have been a tutor for 2 years during which time I have had much success in raising students achievement in both short and longer term arrangements. I have helped students move from middle and lower sets to the top many times. I also teach drums from my studio in Cheltenham.

During 2013/2014 I was enrolled on a PGCE secondary science course which I left as I did not believe that the teaching style I was being asked to apply was adequately aspiring for my students.

Tutoring Approach:

I am an experienced Physics and Maths tutor specialising in an approach tailored towards my students unique needs and talents. I treat every student as an individual and have had much success in working with previously struggling or underachieving students, finding and bridging the barriers to their learning. Having spent a lot of time working with students struggling in middle and lower sets, I have learned never to assume that a student cannot excel in Maths or Physics; my goal is to give each student the opportunity to perform at their best, but most importantly to enjoy the process of learning, the true path to long lasting achievement!

I firmly believe in empowering students to take charge of their own study. To do this, I choose not to focus on parrot learning exam questions but rather, focus on giving students more challenging and novel problems which I set from my own bank of exercises which I continuously add to. I am a firm believer in setting homework and it is very important that student's engage with this. My philosophy is not just to work towards getting the right answer but to value all the steps in between, for it is in these paths and throughout the missteps and epiphanies along the way where all the learning takes place.

Personal Description:
I am a 31 year old primary school teacher, who moved from Northern Ireland to East Anglia to study in Norwich when I was 18. I studied American Literature with Creative Writing. I'm an outgoing and independent personality, who enjoys various activities, including, reading, writing, watching films, going to concerts, socialising, travelling, cooking new dishes and going for walks in beautiful locations! I'm currently living in Newtownards with my husband and baby daughter, Aoife. We got married in 2012 and are proud to say that we are able to have an Anglo-Irish household, embracing the best of both worlds. Although, I would say I'm a driven, conscientious and hard working person, I love to laugh and have a good time and believe this is vital to create memorable experiences.

Teaching Experience:

I gained my qualified teacher status in 2009 and have taught ages 3-11 so far. I am an early years specialist but also have shared the role of literacy co-ordinator within my school. Therefore, I have thorough experience of teaching early reading and writing and have trained to teach phonics using a variety of programs. Thus, I can support children to prepare for the year one phonics test and for SATS in year 2. My passion is English and English literature, having studied them at GCSE and A Level, achieving top grade A's in both. I understand how to dissect texts in order to answer questions and can support pupils to do the same. I also studied sociology to A Level, achieving an A aswell and know how to use theorists in order to answer questions. I have supported an individual through her A Levels in these subject areas. She is studying in London now. Currently, I am tutoring a variety of primary aged pupils in both literacy and numeracy, an a level sociology student and adult learners to get their foundation degree in childcare! I love it!

Tutoring Approach:

I have a very positive and disciplined approach to teaching and learning. It is important to understand each child's or young person's individual learning styles and needs and plan in response to these so that they reach their full potential. After a session, I reflect closely on what went well and what could have gone better in order for the individual to learn more during the next session. I also think appropriate questions towards the individual help in my assessments. Most importantly, I aim to build up a good rapport with my pupils, helping them to feel relaxed and enjoy their learning as it is such a huge part of our lives. Thus, I'm a friendly teacher who values the significance of learning.

Teaching Experience:

I have 3 years experience tutoring Mathematics and Chemistry at both GCSE and A-Level with students of all abilities.

Tutoring Approach:

I understand that there is no one-size-fits-all method of teaching, and that often there are many correct explanations and solutions to problems.
Each person is different, so if one approach fails we will try again from a different angle to ensure a clear and lasting understanding.
I will aim to work towards the syllabus but am also willing to deviate slightly if the tutee would benefit from a wider understanding of the subject.
I am patient and strive to instil real enthusiasm and confidence in the subject for each student.

Personal Description:
I am about to enter my first year studying Medicine at the Imperial College London after finishing my A levels at a South London school. I have an excellent academic record with 7 A-stars and 3 As in my IGCSE's. I have also achieve the highest score on IGCSE mathematics.

I gained 7 As at AS level. I received an average of 97.8% across the 5 science subjects (math, further math, biology, chemistry and physics). I have also achieved Gold awards at the British Biology Olympiad , Senior Math Challenge and the International Chemistry Olympiad. I self taught myself Further Math modules during AS year; I learned FP1 and D1 last year and achieve 98% on both modules. I enjoy the challenge of maths so I self taught two more A2 modules namely FP2 and S3 and I got 100% and 93% respectively. My A level results were 4A* and 1A. I gained 600/600 in A level Maths, 97% in A level Further Maths, 96.7% in Chemistry, 96% in Physics and 92.7% in Biology overall.

I am originally from Malaysia and I am fluent in both Chinese and English, and I can tailor the lessons to focus on whatever students want to learn about. I am keen to tutor students on sciences, math and mandarin. My main academic interests are medical statistics and applied biotechnology. In addition, I play two instruments and enjoy playing tennis and travelling.

Teaching Experience:

I began tutoring secondary students English and Maths during my time in China. When I first moved to London, I started tutoring students on GCSE sciences. I volunteer to teach English students Mandarin during my time in school. Having been through the stress of exams, I have also held numerous study groups and sessions in order to aid pupils further. I also received an opportunity to tutor two girls on As level Maths and Chemistry for two months or so before the summer 2015 exams.

During the summer, I successfully received a full time job teaching A level Maths, Chemistry, Physics and Toefl English in a tutorial institution in Zhuhai, China for 3 weeks. It was a challenge for me teaching full time and preparing lessons every day to meet the demand of the students. In the end, it was a rewarding experience for me.

Tutoring Approach:

Learning should be enjoyed, I believe the best way to learn is by finding what you are learning interesting so I will aim to make whatever I teach interesting for the student. My approach is tailored to the needs and preferences of the student. Lessons can include:
- Recapping material covered in class
- Going through homework
- Focussing on difficult concepts
- Past exam questions & exam technique
I am willing to answer any questions they have as long as they send me an-email so that I can reply.

Personal Description:
I am an enthusiastic tutor simply because I love to share my knowledge with other people. I enjoy making comparison between subjects and connect the most various topic.

I am not only good at Math, Physics and Chemistry, but my best skill is the planning of the time and the manner of studying. That is something that no one teach at school and in my opinion is the real power every students need.

I don't have any problem to give one free trial lesson, because I am sure you will never regret. Also I can provide any certificate I achieved.

Teaching Experience:

I have being tutoring during the whole high school (scientific Diploma at Liceo Scientifico Enrico Fermi, Bologna) and Bachelor's degree (Energy Engineering, at Alma Mater Studiorum, Bologna).
My students were not only younger than me, but mostly they were my classmate.

Tutoring Approach:

It depends on the student actually. However I can sum it up, saying:

- careful planning to achieve the goals
- working day by day, every day
- focusing on the weakness to change into strong points

Teaching Experience:

My teaching experience was limited in the universities while I was carrying my Mphil and PhD at both King's college London and Cardiff University to Undergraduates and MSc students on their maths, electronics and signal processing, and or related subjects.

Tutoring Approach:

My initial approach to the students are to analysis what he or she knows and from then to build up the student's knowledge, based on the fundamental information that already acquired. I help the student to train his/her brain to the subject and become expert on that. My experience in neural networking and application of brain training methodology helps the student to become expert on their interested filed. I will NOT teach students but TRAIN them to learn faster based on proven scientific methodologies.

Personal Description:
My name is Liam and I am a tutor for English, History and Latin. Currently on a gap year from my second year of University at Royal Holloway where I read History- I am now looking to expand my experience with different students.

I have a great desire to communicate and interact with others- this is why I went in to tutoring. Using all my travel and personal experience has come in quite handy for inspiring students. This has helped me find interesting sources to make lessons more diversified and varied.

My hobbies include traveling, country hiking and reading.

Teaching Experience:

During my years at Royal Holloway I tutored local students in English and History. Alec and Anne were pupils at the local high school and I helped them understand both their difficulties and the solutions to overcome them. They both performed very well in their A Levels- achieving A's.

I have been tutoring for over a year and a half and have also had experience with younger children through baby sitting.

Tutoring Approach:

My approach to teaching is professional, tailored and effective. The aim to is encourage pupils and to instil in them a lifetime enjoyment of the subject.

The way I would conduct lessons for English would be very simple, yet effective- the session will be entirely tailored to the student in question. Any point that is not well assimilated will be reexplained and reviewed. The lessons will follow different topics - these can be arranged to suit each pupil individually.
The focus in such lessons is to encourage the student's progression in anyway possible. Small tasks will be given now and then to check on the student's progression.

For students wishing to enlarge their knowledge of English literature (my specialisation being non fiction essays) and contemporary culture, themes can be chosen from different periods of English history and literature and explored.

History lessons will be held in a similar manner with the general aim of not only further knowledge but enjoyment in the pursuit of it. Having a background in history will help students expand on their knowledge and ensure enjoyment, as well as discussion and essay help.
