In America i tutored freshmen and juniors (age 18,19) in subjects including calculus 1 and 2 (intermediate). |
Tutoring Approach: Due to the fact i do not have vast experience, i feel that 10 pound an hour is a reasonable sum, and the first lesson will be free so that you can decide whether the sessions will help without breaking into your money. I will go through past exams, problem sheets and help with any technical issues. Any uncertainty in theory or application can be addressed. |

| Personal Description: I began my career in Research & Development (R&D) at the "General Electric Company" where I was Senior Research Physicist for 6 years. Whilst there I enjoyed good success, publishing a number of papers in various R&D journals and magazines and achieved 13 patents. For the last 26 years I've been employed in the ICT industry, working for various organisations including Apricot Computers, KKR, and Siemens. My time in industry was spent in number of varied roles mainly involving research, education, engineering and analysis. The larger part of my role was focused on education and training, investigating and applying various methods of teaching science/technology to people groups of different ages, backgrounds and abilities. I enjoy educating people of all ages and have been providing a private tuition service throughout my industry career, in Science, Mathematics and ICT, for children at secondary school level and also for adults who wish to extend their knowledge in those areas. |
Teaching Experience: I'm an experienced educator in Science (Physics in particular), Mathematics, and ICT technologies. I've been involved in lecturing and teaching at university venues, schools, research institutions, and speaking at many international conferences on the application of technology in business and everyday life. I have also developed advance courses and web based learning tools (mainly on ICT) for various types of learners (i.e. students, engineers, consultants, sales/marketing) to suit different levels of knowledge. I have recently undergone a rigorous teacher suitability assessment, conducted by the Institute of Physics (IOP) for teaching Physics at secondary level, and was awarded an IOP Scholarship, one of only 100 awards given out in the whole of the UK. For this I had to demonstrate an excellent knowledge of Physics, good awareness of current educational issues, possession of the necessary qualities for a good teacher, including the ability to effectively communicate scientific concepts to student groups of different ages and mixed ability. I also believe that my broad experience in industry helps me to impart knowledge in a more enthusiastic, clearer, convincing, and mature way with the ability to better relate scientific/mathematical concepts to everyday life and to the commercial world. |
Tutoring Approach: My ultimate goal for any student is to make real and noticeable progress in their subject. For me to achieve this I focus my tutoring on any identified areas of weakness and on building upon the student's strengths. I see myself as a facilitator to help students discover things for themselves, which I believe is the best form of learning. I like to work through problems with a student and encourage them to use their own ideas to solve them. I use lots of analogies to make things clear, and I like teaching by principle so that students are then able to apply their knowledge to solve problems under different situations. My tutoring methods can involve using various tools such as interactive media and virtual experimentation. Normally, I use various exercise workbooks to assess progress, working through appropriate textbooks (based on examination board), and past exam papers to prepare students for their final examinations. Homework is given, which may involve examination style questions and expected to be completed by the next lesson. Students are encouraged to familiarise themselves with any handouts that maybe given and to keep them as a record of their learning experience. |

| Personal Description: I'm not available at the moment as I am in university - I may start tutoring again over the summer holidays, but I won't be around over Easter either. I am a second year Physics undergraduate at Royal Holloway University of London. I have tutored for over 3 years, I started off teaching the piano and then went on to Maths, Physics and general help with revision for GCSE's. I have recently sat my A Levels and I achieved 3 A*s and one A (Maths, Physics, Spanish and Music respectively). I achieved 11A*'s and one A in my GCSE's so I would be happy to help pupils with other subjects apart from those listed. I will be available to tutor over the Easter period from the 26th March until the 21st April. (Ready for all of those exams!) |
Teaching Experience: I have taught the piano for over 3 years and taught Maths, Physics and been available for general revision help for the last year. My students have ranged from A/A* students to people who have worked really hard to achieve a C grade. I had 8 Maths/Physics/Revision students last year and 8 piano students. |
Tutoring Approach: I have three younger brothers so am very used to children. I find learning fun and I aim to do the same for my pupils. I aim to make pupils understand and not just learn and repeat back what they have learnt. There is no point in just memorizing something if you don't understand why the answer is what it is. This is especially important with complex subjects such as Maths and Physics. Maths is easy once you understand it, all the test can throw at you is the same problem but with different numbers. The method of solving it is the same. (If you want many hours of tuition over a holiday period then I can give you a discount) |

| Personal Description: I am a dedicated and very patient 18 year old who always put the students first. Though very young, I have to try to compete with other tutors with putting relatively low prices. However, this is not a reflection of work that I will put in. I will try my very best to help students in any way that I can to help them achieve the grades that they deserve. I will tailor my teaching styles to match my students' learning style to assess whether the preferred learning style is speech, text or visual. I am currently studying Accounting and Finance at the University of Exeter as an undergraduate student. In my first year, I achieved a First Class. I am available to teach GCSE Maths Higher and Foundation (familiar with all boards) and 11+ exams. I achieved: A in A-level Biology A in A-level Chemistry A in A-level Mathematics A in AS-level Further Mathematics A* in GCSE Higher Mathematics |
Teaching Experience: Prior to moving to Exeter, I have tutored students from both primary and secondary school children in London. Have been tutored for a year and a half, so I know how a tutee should be treated, and the protocols that come with tuition. I taught in a primary school, in Malaysia, English and Maths, so I do have experience working with students. I have been into 2 Grammar schools where entrance tests is required for entry; I have a lot of information about how these tests work. |
Tutoring Approach: I shall coach my students in not only gaining the correct knowledge, but also in teaching them about exam techniques and timing in exams. I do this by setting my students some homework, giving them examples, and printing out some past papers for them to do. I will also advise them on revision techniques. |

| Personal Description: I am married with three children and seven grandchildren. I like to keep fit and attend a local gym regularly. I have been involved with the Duke of Edinburgh Award Scheme as an instructor and assessor and I am an active member of the Combined Cadet Force (Royal Navy Section). Needless to say I am CRB checked. The most recent one dated last year. These last for three years. |
Teaching Experience: I have successfully taught mathematics in schools in Nottingham, Surrey, Hampshire and Lancashire over the past twenty years. I took early retirement this summer from teaching but am still an examiner for GCSE higher paper. During those years, I have had considerable success in helping my students to achieve A*'s in mathematics and statistics and have also been able to give additional help to some students to enable them to improve their grades. In addition to this, I have taught students who were struggling with some aspects of mathematics and been able to give them an alternative approach, thus helping them to a greater understanding of the topics. |
Tutoring Approach: I like to be able to get to know exactly what the tutee's problems are in mathematics and will usually ask to see some of their work in order to get a starting point from which to build. It might be that they are only struggling in one particular area and that's fine, I can help them with that, or they may need some consolidation;bringing all the topics into play in order to solve complex problems more easily and therefore building confidence. I can supply worksheets or will work from their own textbook if they prefer. I usually set homework for them to work on before the next session. |

| Personal Description: I am a Graduate in Engineering with excellent academic background. Recently I have completed masters in Structural Engineering with distinction. I have sound communication skills and have ability to deliver my concepts at any level. |
Teaching Experience: I have been teaching Maths, Physics, Chemistry, Rate analysis and Structural Engineering to B-tech students. Currently I am teaching Maths, Physics and Chemistry to the G.C.S.E Students. |
Tutoring Approach: Teaching is the mother of all professions and it is one of the most respectable profession. To have a complete conceptual knowledge about something and to have an ability to deliver that knowledge both are totally different things. Most people have outstanding knowledge but they are unable to deliver that knowledge effectively. So my approach to tutoring is to deliver my concepts effectively and to teach at all levels. |

| Personal Description: I am a third year medical student (passed second year with merit) studying at King's College London who is friendly, down-to-earth and willing to be a very effective tutor. I have an excellent academic background achieving 10 A*s and 5 As at GCSE Level (certificates available for proof). At A-Level, I achieved 4 straight As (my A levels were taken before the new A* grade) in Biology, Chemistry, Mathematics and Economics. I have a lot of experience in tutoring students (2+ years), both in the school setting and outside of school and I have been of immense benefit to those I have tutored with several commenting on my unique approach to it. |
Teaching Experience: I have a vast amount of experience in tutoring students, both in the school setting and outside of school and I have been of immense benefit to those I have tutored with several commenting on my unique approach to it. I have tutored for a total of approximately 250 hours and rising in A-Level and GCSE Biology, Chemistry, Maths and Economics. I also was given some awards for my effective work as a tutor in my secondary school and sixth form. |
Tutoring Approach: I strongly believe that a tutor must get response from the student which demonstrates understanding and I do this in a friendly and interactive manner which gets the best from my students. This principle is crucial because it lets me know with as much certainty as possible that my student has understood my lesson rather than hoping that this is the case based on my explanations as a tutor which is what happens in most school settings. |

| Personal Description: I am a second year chemical engineering student at Imperial College London. I am very friendly and easy going. Most importantly, I am passionate about the subjects I tutor and feel this will make the experience for tutees much bettter. |
Teaching Experience: I have previously helped out in maths lessons during my time in secondary school, and also took part in helping out at AS level chemistry drop in sessions. |
Tutoring Approach: I have a relaxed approach, whilst making sure any difficulties tutees have are dealt with in depth and not simply brushed over. In order to understand complex ideas, I feel it is very important for tutees to have a sound knowledge in the basic concepts first, so they do not feel too overwhelmed when difficult concepts arise. I will help tutees to achieve their full potential by increasing their confidence and helping to not only understand their subjects better, but possibly even enjoy them more too. |

| Personal Description: From July 2013-December 2013, I will be doing shift work (as a HCA) at Stoke Mandeville Hospital so my schedule will become more random. After, I will be back in Milton Keynes to work full-time as a tutor. I am a recent graduate of University of Nottingham where I studied Biochemistry and Genetics. I am looking to hopefully teach GCSE or A-level students that require help to get a better grade. I am also happy to teach younger students. With regard to my CRB check, I was checked in 2008 by Willen Hospice. |
Teaching Experience: At the moment, I am teaching students from Monday to Friday night. I am most available for tutoring during the day (9-4) or at weekend. Below are the times I am available for teaching: Monday 9PM - 4PM Tuesday 9AM - 4PM Wednesday 9PM - 1PM Thursday 9AM - 11:30PM, 6PM-7PM Friday 1PM - 5PM I am currently teaching: 1 GCSE Maths Foundation 1 GCSE Maths Higher (Edexcel) + AS Biology (AQA) 1 AS Biology (AQA) 4 AS Biology, Chemistry and Maths (OCR) 1 A2 Biology (AQA) 2 A2 Chemistry (OCR, Salters) 1 GCSE/ILETS English, AS Physics (AQA), Mathematics (MEI) 2 GCSE Sciences student I have taught: 2 A Level Biology (OCR) 1 GCSE Sciences (all three) 1 AS Chemistry (OCR) |
Tutoring Approach: After teaching solidly for the past 6 months, I have been able to further develop my teaching skills. To begin, I start with revision techniques, worksheets and make new, very detailed, class/revision notes with my students. After developing a solid understanding, I begin with exam questions as I have been able to collect a solid amount of questions (exam and school questions). Every lesson, I print out worksheets and notes for my students as well as give them homework. Essentially, what I offer are school lessons that are more detailed and focused than what they receive in school. Through these methods, I am able to thoroughly assess a student's abilities, increase them and hopefully better their grades. School Holiday (Easter, Summer and Christmas) - 20% off two hour lessons A Level: £60 to £58 GCSE: £50 to £40 Key Stage 3: £40 to £32 Group Lessons: 2 people - 20% off (£21/£18.50 per person) 3 people - 30% off (£18.50/£16 each person) |

| Personal Description: I am a 22 year old currently coming to the end of a degree in Biochemistry from the University of Bath and looking forward to starting my post-graduate degree in Medicine at Imperial College London in October 2013. I undertook my GCSE's and A-levels at St. Paul's Girls' School (London) obtaining A*-A grades in both sets of exams. As a result of my degree, I specialise in teaching the sciences and have done so as a teaching assistant for GCSE students at Westside School London. I love working with children and have been a nanny and babysitter to a number of different families as well as multiple private-tutoring jobs. |
Teaching Experience: I was a teaching assistant for 3 months at a school for disadvantaged GSCE students during my GAP year, holding several science classes on my own when the teacher was absent. I assisted in all lessons throughout the day from maths to art as well as acting as a mentor for some of the students with particularly troubled backgrounds. I have tutored children of a variety of ages, ranging from 5-13 years old and in a number of subjects including entrance exam-style verbal and quantitative reasoning, Maths, The Sciences (Biology, Chemistry and Physics) and English (comprehension and essay-writing skills). |
Tutoring Approach: In order to tutor a child effectively you have to treat them as individuals. There is no single teaching template that all children respond to, and therefore my approach to tutoring varies depending on the tutee. There are a plethora of reasons as to why children may require a tutor. With many children it can often be a lack of confidence and a heightened sense of self-doubt that holds them back academically, however there are also some that simply need concepts to be 'broken-down' in order for them to understand them. In my experience the most effective way to learn is by practicing, therefore I initially discuss with the tutee (and parents) what their difficulties are with the subject and any areas of weakness as well as assessing how far into the curriculum they are. After this, I normally provide a background lesson on the particular topic and from then on, practice questions will be tackled (provided by me) that are similar in structure to any that the tutee will face in future exams. |

| Personal Description: SAXOPHONE-I am an experienced saxophonist. Currently I play both alto and baritone saxophone. I have taught young pupils at my old school before for free, but now that i have gained enough experience, not just as a teacher but at a very high level in bands too, I am starting to tutor. I teach many different styles, have it be jazz, pop or classical. I offer tuition for students of all ages. Whether you are young and just starting out or older and wish to try something new/different for fun and want some guidance in the right direction, I am here to help. I teach for those at a amateur and beginner level. Music is a great passion of mine and I really enjoy teaching others something so great. MATHS- I am a higher level maths student and i have an A grade at GCSE level maths. During my free periods i spend time helping lower school student who are struggling with their maths for free because i really enjoy teaching. I teach everything from key stage 1,2 and 3 maths to foundation GCSE students. Maths has always been a great ability of mine and I mainly teach it because I have a love for it and in my experience those who i have taught have found me very helpful. |
Teaching Experience: SAXOPHONE- I have taught young pupils at my old school before for free to gain some experience in teaching. I also play at a high level in the Hillingdon Music Service concert band and Sax Group, as well as in multiple Jazz and Big Bands.I have been on tour to France with the Music Service as well and have played for weddings too. I now have a good level of experience in both playing and teaching. MATHS- I have been teaching GCSE and lower level maths for a few years now. I was part of a team who a few years ago went to the UK maths challenge representing my region of London. I enjoy teaching maths and in my experience those who i have taught have found me very useful. |
Tutoring Approach: I find that bringing out the passion in the student is what counts, so for music the genre they enjoy most and helping them fall in love with music that way. With maths i believe having a strategic plan of getting a topic or part of maths that the student is struggling with and keeping at it and doing questions and going through the solutions with them until they understand. I understand that many people struggle with maths or may not like it but i find that someone younger (such as myself) teaching them makes it a lot easier on them. Another good way i find with maths is going through questions and helping them understand how to get to the answer rather than just giving the answer and moving on with a simple tick or cross. |
