Tutoring Approach:

Education is very important to me, and I see having confidence in learning as being a vital part of life, and such take a fun and proactive approach to tutoring.

I am naturally very organised, and so will provide all the equipment needed, exam questions, books, etc

Personal Description:
I have tutored Maths, English and Special Needs now for five years, building up a rapport with each individual and their family to ensure best results. My tutoring experience spans from children aged 4 years to adults aged 44 years, with varying degrees of motivation, interest and abilities.

Due to my high interest in supporting others, I chose a career path as a Speech and Language Therapist, and I qualified in this esteemed profession 3 years ago. On a daily basis I work with children from pre-school age right up to young adults, in a range of settings from special needs schools and mainstream schools, to community clinics and home visits. I am highly passionate about helping all I support to work together to reach their potential.

I am a genuinely caring and generous person and I am more than capable of sharing my passion for Maths and English to anyone I work with, including those with additional needs.

Teaching Experience:

Through my job as a Speech and Language Therapist I work with children of all cognitive abilities on a one-to-one level to improve their communication and language skills. The work I do coincides with the National Curriculum and the Early Years Foundation Stage, and I work with parents and teachers to set individualised targets, which is similar to the tutoring world.

Prior to commencing my current job I worked as a special needs assistant at a primary school. On a daily basis I was required to give additional support on a one-to-one basis to children who struggled in the (often) large classroom, by working through the literacy or numeracy curriculum at their own pace. I was also relied upon to support in assigned classrooms through supervising children while working on a task or taking groups of children for reading. Working in a school ensured that I keep current my knowledge of Educational and National Curriculum issues.

From June-August 2011, I travelled to Pennsylvania, USA, to work as a Speech and Language Therapist at a summer camp for children with special needs (age range 7-20). I was recommended for this job due to my extensive experience and my friendly positive nature. The experience of living and working with children and teens with individual needs and accompanying challenging behaviours highlighted the importance of taking a flexible holistic approach when assessing skills, implementing support and evaluating improvements.

In June 2009, I participated in the Student Associate Scheme organised by the University of Manchester. This involved intensive teacher training and then carrying out a block placement of three weeks within two schools teaching and assisting in core subjects e.g. Mathematics and English. I worked with two children in particular who struggled and I helped improve their numeracy and literacy skills by adapting their learning technique to suit their individual needs.

Tutoring Approach:

For five years I have tutored Maths, English and Special Needs in three areas of the UK, including two major cities. I have assisted students of varying ages, abilities and additional needs including Dyslexia, Autism and Specific Language Impairment - from early years pupils to mature students. I find that tutees benefit from the one-to-one focus they are given, and the individualised plans we work from enforces enhancement of their current knowledge in their chosen subject areas.

I always ensure a person-centred approach is achieved when tutoring. Each tutee learns through different techniques and at different speeds so I develop my tutoring level and scope to suit the individuals needs. I tutored three children for 2013's 'Transfer Test' (Northern Ireland's Grammar School intake assessment) and the results confirmed that this approach is effective, as all sitting the demanding test passed with flying colours, with two getting into Northern Ireland's top Grammar School.

Personal Description:
Worried you or your kid might be lacking at studies????? No worries!!!! I am here to help.
I am a Bio-medical Sciences graduate from UK's one of the best universities, i.e. King's College London (Ranked top 25 in the world) and I believe, I can be of help. Although I studied Biomedical Sciences at university, Maths has always been my favourite subject so I am ready to help in Maths and all the Sciences..
Fully DBS (updated version of CRB) checked as I am also a community first responder volunteer ambulance services.

Teaching Experience:

I have been a private tutor for many years now and have a record of 93% of my tutees so far having obtained grade A or above in the respective subjects with none of my tutees so far ever obtaining lower than B.
It all started when I was a prefect at my school and college where I used to help students of different levels (including my friends from my own year) in learning difficult topics (in maths and science) and in preparing for exams. I have also helped few teachers several times during an actual school lesson as teacher's assistant. But most importantly, in these many years as a private tutor, I have helped a lot of pupils only do well in their GCSEs and A-level. So far they have all achieved much higher standard than they were predicted by their teachers and this success of all these past tutees of mine makes me work even harder with all the new ones every year.

Just to assure you that I am not shy of putting in harwork I would like to bring to your attention that I did all my GCSEs in a single year instead of 2 and also ended up doing 2 of the subjects early. Even though maths was one of the early subjects, I still got A* and went on to do AS maths in the same year in which I also got A. So, may be I can help with not only Maths and sciences but also with management of time and work loads along with building their confidence and bringing out their desire to learn.

Tutoring Approach:

Will depend on the needs of the tutee as everyone is different but one thing that remains same for all is the commitment and the level of sincerity from me.

Personal Description:
I've loved Mathematics from as long as I can remember and I enjoy teaching it and tutoring others. I have studied Maths up to PhD level and so am comfortable teaching all levels of Maths. I am friendly and spend time to help my tutees understand the fundamental concepts which they need for problem solving so that they can be successful in applying this knowledge in their exams.

Teaching Experience:

I was a teaching assistant at Strathclyde University for 4 years. In that time, I lectured Mathematics to first and second year University students, organised and supervised tutorial sessions, set and marked assignments/exams and tutored students on a one-to-one basis. I have also tutored my friend's kids who were home schooled and marked work which their parents didn't have the knowledge to mark.
Also have a PGDE(S) in Mathematics and currently teaching within the new curriculum

Tutoring Approach:

I find that the most effective way of mastering concepts/tricks is the hands-on approach. So I work with my tutees particularly in areas where they are weak until they have mastered the underlying concept/approach and are able to apply it on their own to similar problems. I am patient and work with you to help you use the knowledge you already have by approaching material from a different angle to what you've maybe been shown.

Personal Description:
Graduated Master Degree in Applied Mathematics at University of Cambridge (Part III Tripos), focusing in Theoretical Physics.

Graduated BSc Mathematics and Physics at University College London (UCL). Received 1st-Class Honours over all years.

Graduated 43/45 points in International Baccalaureate (IB) with 7s in (HL) Mathematics, Physics, Economics, (SL) Geography and English. Received 7 A* 1A 1B in IGCSE including above subjects.

4+ years of experience in University/Secondary (especially in A-levels) tutoring. Always highly recognised for excellent teaching and enjoyable lessons!

Teaching Experience:

4+ years of Tutoring experience on IB (International Baccalaureate) and A-level (HL) Mathematics and Physics. Have a vast bank of exercise problems and Past Papers for training. Have been highly known for excellent teaching, being clear and rigorous at appropriate levels.

Also I can provide insight if you are thinking of pursuing Mathematics or Physics in University, from "what is maths like in Uni?", to advices in different schools, how to apply and write personal statement, etc.

Tutoring Approach:

Most likely will conduct tutoring in a classroom in University Campus, unless specifically request otherwise. This gives easy access to whiteboard for clearer teaching.

Training in Maths and Physics requires a clear, solid, understanding of the key concepts and rigorous logic. The best approach towards Maths and Physics is to allow tutees to voice any possible doubts towards the subject and then clarify them while making it more solid. After that, consistent practice with real life problems and Past Paper questions, under guidance, will enable tutees to fully achieve their potential, ideally.

Finally, people achieve their best if they find something interesting. All my students so far have always find my teaching fun and enjoyable, making learning much more easy and effective! I believe this is the key to continued learning to maximise one's potentials.

- Interactive approach, clarifying doubts and questions towards subjects
- Able to phrase concepts and theories in clear and fun ways
- Work on past papers questions
- Tips and Advice for exams
- Solid training preparing skills that applies to any subject

Personal Description:
I am an MSc student at the University of Leicester, currently studying Infection and Immunity, and a graduate of the University of Southampton with a BSc in Biomedical Science.

I have a lot of experience in private tutoring of English, maths and sciences, as well as tutoring for the company AE tuition for 11+ entrance exams and GCSE preparation. One of my most recent tutees was offered a scholarship to a private school, having come to me from the bottom of his class in English. I also have experience as a play specialist on a London paediatric unit, so have worked with a wide range of children.

I race for the university ski team and I have many hobbies, including climbing and piano. I have always been passionate about my studies, ranging from science to art, ancient history to french.

Teaching Experience:

18 months at AE tuition (Berkshire):

Maths ages 7-11
Verbal reasoning ages 7-11
Non verbal reasoning ages 9-11
Creative writing ages 9-11
GCSE science preparation

Private tuition in maths, science, piano and french

Tutoring Approach:

I work very well with children and have also worked with adults with learning difficulties. My previous experience has allowed me to develop a patient approach to teaching as I feel it is important for the student (whatever age) to gain enthusiasm and confidence in their subject, something which is often overseen in the school class room and in adult education.

I do provide homework, but not so much that it interferes with other studies.

I am a very experienced and successful tutor of English and Maths. I did an English degree at Cambridge, a PGCE at Nottingham, and then worked as an English and Drama teacher for 10 years, latterly as Head of Department. I have worked in educational and children's television since then, as a producer, director and writer. I have made over 500 programmes for broadcast on the BBC, Channel 4, and around the world, winning numerous educational awards in the UK and internationally. I am married with two children.

Teaching Experience:

I taught in and near London, for four years in a grammar school and for six years in two different comprehensives, teaching English Language and Literature, and Drama.
My teaching experience more recently has been through creating television scripts, CD-ROMs and websites, especially helping young people to enjoy and learn maths. Supporting my daughter through her GCSEs and A levels has kept me very much in touch with students' needs, and working with my son has given me great insight into children with special needs.
I am currently tutoring seventeen students, ranging in age from six years to adult.

Tutoring Approach:

I help children, young people and adults learn through motivating them and building their confidence. I aim to make learning thorough, clear, enjoyable and inspirational; to make obscure things interesting, complex things simple, and dull things entertaining. Learning should be purposeful and fun.

Personal Description:
I am a third year mathematics student at the University of Manchester. I have always had an interest in mathematics and taught myself and extra AS-Level in it when I was at college. As well as improving my mathematics knowledge, this helped me improve my tutoring skills.
I have great people skills and enjoy teaching. I have spent my first 2 years of university regularly tutoring GCSE, A-Level and Degree level students and have developed my tuition throughout this experience.
I am free every Tuesday and Wednesday after 3, and in the daytime on Thursday.

Teaching Experience:

I have spent my first 2 years of university regularly tutoring GCSE, A-Level and Degree level students and have developed my tuition throughout this experience and received excellent feedback.
Recently spent 2 months tutoring GCSE maths students at Droylsden Academy. This was an experience I greatly enjoyed as it helped me develop my teaching skills because we tutored in groups, so as tutors we could share ideas.
In college I was involved in a tutoring scheme and tutored two students through GCSE Maths & Physics. This was something I found rewarding as I like helping people by teaching.
In my university tutorials, of around 12 students, we take turns to teach the rest of the group aspects of the course. This helps me to continually improve how I explain complicated concepts.

Tutoring Approach:

Will tutor through directly teaching the material, explaining theory so the student has a firm understanding and then working through relevant examples. Although this approach is flexible depending on the students preference.

Personal Description:
I have just completed my second year at The University of Nottingham studying Physics. I am very passionate about maths and science, and would love the opportunity to help improve the experience of these subjects for other people. I think summer can be a very valuable time for extra tuition to either get the subject up to speed or up to date in time for the coming academic year.

I studied my GCSEs at Archbishop Holgate's School and attained 11 A*s and 1 A. I then continued my education at York College where I achieved an A* for Further Maths, As in Physics and Maths, a B for chemistry and an A at AS Level Philosophy.

During summer, I enjoy returning home to York with my family and like to keep myself busy. In my free time, I enjoy reading novels (particularly books in the fantasy genre), playing the guitar and piano, and playing tennis.

Teaching Experience:

I have had a couple of tutees, and have really loved the experience. It has been both challenging and rewarding, and I have picked up some good approaches to teaching various topics. My experience has also highlighted the different styles that are necessary to best engage with the individual tutee.

In addition to this, in 2011 I took a 3 month skiing course which enabled me to become a qualified CSIA (Canadian Ski Instructor's Alliance) Level 2 Instructor. During this course, under the guidance of an instructor, we would practise delivering lessons to each other. There were around 35 people on my course, and so I learnt how to tailor my teaching approach to the individual. I have also shadowed two actual ski lessons, and in both cases (one with a group of around 6, the other with just one person) I was allowed to take charge, which was an incredibly valuable experience.

Tutoring Approach:

I learnt a lot from my aforementioned experiences about the best way to approach teaching, which I think would be transferable to any subject. The way in which people learn greatly varies, and so I always try to get a sense of the person before deciding on the best approach to take. Where I can, I try to be creative, as this will make the lesson more interesting for both the student and myself. I would try to find out the interests and motivations of the student, and apply this to my teaching style. Particularly with a subject like physics, you can apply the underlying concepts to almost anything, which can help to bring challenging concepts to life.

Personal Description:
I have lived and worked all over the UK, from Glasgow (where I am from) to Cambridge (where I studied) to London, where I worked in the City, and now in the North-East, where I trained to be a Maths teacher. I am dedicated to teaching Maths and I am passionate about helping young people to enjoy and achieve success in this extremely important subject.

Teaching Experience:

I have been successfully teaching Maths in secondary school for three years, and am in a leadership position in my Department with responsibility for Key Stage 3. I have experience of teaching to a range of maths schemes and exam boards and have taught GCSE Maths at both Foundation and Higher tiers. I have successfully taught a wide range of abilities from the very top set to the bottom set and have helped pupils of all abilities to achieve and often exceed their target grade and increase their confidence in their abilities in Maths. I have worked with all kinds of pupils from all kinds of backgrounds and I can recognise and adapt to any specific needs that a child may have to help them learn successfully.

Tutoring Approach:

I begin by assessing pupils' current understanding of Maths and then target those areas where there are gaps in understanding. I always leave optional work for the pupil to complete, which would be checked at the beginning of the next session. For GCSE pupils, I include previous exam questions in my sessions. I use a variety of resources, including booklets made up of previous exam questions on different topics which are very effective at boosting pupils' grades in GCSE exams. I have found that some of my other resources such as loop cards or tarsia jigsaw puzzles can help pupils who find Maths difficult or boring to enjoy it more and become more confident in their ability.

I can offer one off revision sessions or short revision courses (2 or 3 weeks) in the run up to exams. I can also offer sessions for more than one pupil if they would prefer to receive tuition with a friend. I can usually tailor the tuition to suit most needs.

Personal Description:
Hi, my name is Aimee and I am a fourth year Maths student at the University of Glasgow. I am a passionate Mathematician who believes that maths really is exciting if you can see the real life applications it has. I am British and have lived in Scotland for most of my life.

Teaching Experience:

I am an administrator on a maths homework answers website. This means that I help to answer people's maths questions and also moderate comments. It really gives me a buzz when I see that someone has finally understood how to complete a problem, and so I want to be able to help more people to understand and enjoy maths, not just so they will do better in school and exams, but so that they won't go through life thinking that maths is a subject that is confusing and unattainable, which couldn't be further from the truth :)

Tutoring Approach:

I try to be friendly and approachable, and to adjust to peoples different learning styles. When it comes to studying for exams I believe that doing past papers and lots of practice examples are key to boosting confidence. It also helps to banish the fear that so often accompanies sitting exams. If you know what to expect, then you can be certain that you will do yourself justice when you walk into that exam hall. For younger tutees I think that one of the most important things to develop is their understanding that maths is something that is used constantly in everyday life. This can be achieved by looking at maths questions that not only drive home those basic skills but that also show practical applications. I am perfectly willing to give a free tutoring session with no further commitment necessary if it doesn't work out, and parents/guardians can sit in on sessions if they want to.
