Personal Description:
I am 56 years old, am a qualified teacher with 15 years experience. I am an easy-going reliable person who likes to make my students feel at ease at all times.

Teaching Experience:

I have been teaching seconday school students since qualifying in 1998. I have had two full-time posts, worked as a supply teacher as well as having private students. I have worked in Inner London, Outer London, Hertfordshire and Bedfordshire schools. I have also worked in France at a small private school during the '80's, predominantly teaching adults.

Tutoring Approach:

I teach French using the native tongue as much as possible. I use my own resources although I use the Internet for ideas whenever it's suitable.
For Maths I follow the syllabus laid down by whichever examining board the student is using and resources come from a wide variety of places usually from where I have recently been teaching. I gather information from colleagues who sometimes have great ideas. I like to be able to go through past papers with students marking work as we go through a course.

Personal Description:
I have been told that I am a passionate, encouraging and dedicated tutor.

"Edward helped both me and my daughter with Maths tuition this year, for GCSE higher level and IGCSE respectively. We both made excellent progress and grew in confidence with help and encouragement from Ed, who combines an easygoing manner with an extremely serious and professional approach to teaching his subject. Ed is able to get right to the heart of a student's confusion very quickly and to give clear and well-illustrated explanations. I couldn't recommend Ed more highly."

Teaching Experience:

I hold a 1st Class degree (Bsc) in Mathematics from Durham University and have been tutoring full-time since September 08.

I mainly tutor GCSE and A-level Physics and Maths (including further maths) but do have experience tutoring at other levels.

I have taught GCSE mathematics in a local private school and continue to hold 1st and 2nd year tutorials at Sussex University.

I usually hold tutorials at my home in Brighton (please see contact details) but do occasionally travel to the student's house.

Tutoring Approach:

Lessons are informal but focused.

Personal Description:
I was born and brought up in the North East of England. I have always enjoyed Maths and was awarded a number of prizes for my mathematical ability during my education, including achieving one of the highest A-level scores in the country. I completed a Maths degree at Newcastle University and decided to combine my ability in Maths with my passion for working with young people and follow teaching as a career.

Teaching Experience:

I completed my PGCE at Newcastle University in 2006 and have been teaching GCSE and A Level Maths since I qualified. I am currently Deputy Director of Sixth Form with responsibility for raising achievement at Key Stage 5, as well as overseeing Maths and Further Maths at A Level. My A Level and GCSE results have over the past few years have shown consistently high levels of 'value added', particularly with students aiming for the higher grades.

Outside of school, I have worked as an examiner for Edexcel marking GCSE and A-Level papers which I feel gives me invaluable knowledge of the examination process. I have been tutoring a selection of GCSE and A-Level students for the past 5 years and have achieved many positive results. One of my particular strengths is the confidence I give students in order to overcome their fears or weaknesses in this subject.

Tutoring Approach:

I understand the varying needs of pupils and can adjust my tutoring style accordingly.

I believe the best way students learn is through careful and detailed explanation followed by questions to consolidate each topic. Setting homework is therefore an important part of the tutoring process.

To prepare students for exams I can produce booklets of past exam questions organised by topic and teach students the best way to answer each question. I will also spend time going through past papers in order to improve their exam technique.

Personal Description:
I graduated from the University of Oxford in 2011 with a degree in Experimental Psychology, and received a Masters in 2015. I have been tutoring for more than 5 years, and run a company focused on inspiring students to reach their potential through study techniques based on neuroscientific evidence. This involves delivering interactive workshops for students in schools and colleges across London.

I love teaching and thrive on the satisfaction of helping a student reach their goal; I welcome students of all abilities, motivation levels and confidence levels. What sets me apart from most is that as well as tutoring my students, I take the role of a mentor, to motivate, encourage and guide them towards success. My students also benefit from my knowledge of study skill techniques, which I integrate into my teaching to maximise students' memory retention.

For students applying for Oxbridge, I am able to provide valuable advice on interview techniques and personal statements, as well as provide contacts to graduates from Oxford University from a range of subjects. I am also able to tutor students for entrance exams e.g. 11+.

Teaching Experience:

I have tutored extensively for over 5 years at Primary, GCSE, A-level, and Degree level with excellent results. I have had students move up by up to 4 grade boundaries at both GCSE and A Level; for the 11+ I have helped students secure places (including scholarships) at excellent institutions such as Dulwich College. At degree level, my Psychology students have achieved 1sts and 2:1s. I am happy to provide references on request!

Tutoring Approach:

My first step is always to assess exactly where my student is at so that I can plan the content for sessions accordingly and make sure that they get the best out of each lesson. If there are any gaps in the foundations of their knowledge we can then attack these head on. My approach is thus very organised and tailored to the specific needs of the student, with small goals set per session alongside a long term goal to work towards. I always ensure that my lessons are engaging, and work towards building a good relationship with my students, encouraging them to ask questions without any hesitation. I adapt my approach depending on my students' learning style as I feel this is the key to successful teaching.

At GCSE and A Level, my aim is always to make sure that students are completely familiar with the subject specification and assessment objectives as this dictates exactly where they can pick up most marks. Completing as many past papers as possible is also a step in the right direction, alongside completing assignments set by myself. I always give very detailed feedback so that my students know exactly where they can improve, and how to apply it to their work going forward.

My approach for students studying Psychology at degree level depends on what is required. Most students require guidance with essays, reports, dissertations and write ups; I usually go through the assignment with the student giving valuable, detailed feedback on what can be improved and exactly how they can go about doing so. This can involve several redrafts until the work has been completed to the students' full potential.

Personal Description:
I choose to study mathematics for my degree as an interests. (so is my interest for physics) After the studies, it is come to me I should share my enthusiasm to younger students as well. Private tutoring as a part time job is a good point to start, with the help from me, I hope students to find the subjects more interesting rather than a dull subject to part in the school.

Teaching Experience:

Qualification-wise, I've got A for Mathematics & Physics at A-Level, obtained MA Mathematics (Hons) from Edinburgh University and MSc Mathematics from King's College London.
Experience-wise, I've become a private tutor for three years now and I had taught over 200 students. The subject include mathematics, physics and mandarin. Range from KS3 to degree level.
Dec 2012 - Feb 2013: Teaching Assistant at Lister Community School
Oct 2014 - Jun 2015: Maths & Mandarin Tutor at Greig City Academy

Tutoring Approach:

For the mathematics and physics teaching, I believe the conceptional understanding is much more important than memorize the method. Once the concept has been absorbed, the method of solving problem become rather trivial. Of course to maximize the efficiency of learning, an interests in the subject is essential. Hence I'd like to increase the students engagement by given information on more practical use of the knowledge or more news on advanced study.

Note: for people asking for university level maths. I will ask lecture notes or at least syllabus. Though undergraduate maths is taught at similar level, there are variation for each modules due to each lecturers' style. Just list a module name hardly tells what topics are required to study. Lecture notes are used to see the way that particular lecture taught, otherwise give me a syllabus I shall use my own lecture notes.

Personal Description:
I am a BA (Hons) Education Studies Graduate (University of Derby) and I am applying for this position to help me support myself and to enable me to gain further experience and insight into the world of private tuition and to progress further professionally. I have completed a vast amount of work experience in the past and worked with a variety of different types of people and I feel that having had this exposure, I can relate well to people at all levels, and that I have good communication skills and a constructive approach to learning and improving my abilities. I consider myself to be loyal and reliable and believe my enthusiasm to work will make me a valuable asset to the work place. I have now completed the Masters in Education (Special Needs Pathway) I am looking forward to share my knowledge and teaching experience with those that require the help.

Teaching Experience:

Private Tuition - Started September 2011.
I am currently tutoring numerous students, covering key stages 1, 2, 3 and 4

School Experience:
Dale Primary School October 2010 - December 2011
I spent time working alongside young children between the ages of 9 to 11. I circulated between the different ability groups, within the classroom, in order to develop an understanding of the different requirements that needed to be met and to gain an understanding of the needs of each individual within the classroom. I undertook small tasks such as talking to children individually about their work and listening to them read as well as marking work

Mickleover Primary School January 2009 - February 2010
I spent time working alongside children between the ages of 7 to 9. I worked with several different ability areas, working with them in a group and also individually and I was able to gain a great insight into the requirements of different children and the flexibility needed within the classroom. I also gained some experience in learning how to plan a lesson and some experience with having direct input within the classroom. I had various other jobs such as listening to children read, sorting out and marking homework and classwork and photocopying work for distribution.

Tutoring Approach:

I work very closely to the curriculum and have an unlimited use of resources for English, Maths and Science at Key Stages 1, 2, 3 & 4 (GCSE). I implement a variety of timed activities to monitor progress and establish focus points. I would work along the lines of the school work they are currently doing, while providing the extra help, resources and activities to enable them to flourish at school as well as helping them work towards achieving the best possible results in tests and formal examinations.

Personal Description:
I am a recent graduate (2012) of the University of Bristol where I studied Biology and obtained a high 2.1. In addition to my degree, I have studied a wide range of subjects during my time in education, within the humanities and the sciences. The inspirational teaching that I have received is one the mains reasons for my achievement of high grades, as well as enthusiasm for my subjects. I believe I can share this enthusiasm and my knowledge and offer your child the help they require.

Teaching Experience:

Whilst at school I was part of a reading scheme where a group of 10 students visited a nearby primary school. We read to individuals on a 1 on 1 basis and helped them to develop their own reading skills. I have been recently accepted onto the TeachFirst scheme, a two-year teaching placement, which will commence in 2013. To gain the experience I will need for this and the present tutoring I am doing, I have spent a lot of time in my old secondary school shadowing teachers and siting in on classes. I have also been coaching hockey at my local club since I was 16, which has allowed me to develop my communication skills.

Tutoring Approach:

In my opinion, a great tutor is not only one that can engage and animate their pupils, but can also adapt their teaching style to meet the needs of the individual. I hope that not only will I give your child the support they require, but he/she will also enjoy the teaching process.

Personal Description:
A Master of Mathematics graduate from UEA in Norwich, with a year studying in Melbourne Australia. I have great experience tutoring with various age groups and personalities.

I have enjoyed tutoring part time and full time for the past few years whilst learning a Postgraduate Diploma course since University. I was subsequently contracted in by a local college to provide individual and group tutoring sessions to underachieving students, during and after school.

Teaching Experience:

I started tutoring GCSE maths in Year 13, providing a very structured learning by my school. The students engaged well and it helped to have people of a similar age that the students could relate to, enabling a more relaxed learning atmosphere. I also informally helped peers of various levels whilst at university, maths students but also engineering and foundation levels. When my services were required in a particular area, then they asked for help on short notice.

On top of this I've been tutoring over the past 4 years, usually working 7 days a week from the new year onward. Peak hours ranged in excess of 40hrs of tutoring for several months. I've therefore assessed the likely weaknesses of a student and have already provided and perfected methods of explanation.

Tutoring Approach:

Can look at casual tutoring of areas of difficulty, or can do more structured learning of a curriculum, either intense learning or weekly troubleshooting. I've established good quality material for any level. Plenty of students just require good material and direction for their efforts.

The first meeting will be free with the aim of getting to know one another and the strengths and weaknesses of the tutee, and at what pace the student requires. At which point a structured plan of action can be drawn up. In some cases the tutee may lack the confidence in areas, but can in fact do what's required. Even a casual troubleshooting session every now and then can set their worries at rest.

Should extracurricular material be required or wanted then I'll be happy to provide. This material might not be hard for the tutee, but will help link in various areas of mathematics and will require a little thought about the patterns seen.

Personal Description:
I'm a qualified junior doctor. At school, I greatly enjoyed the three sciences biology, chemistry and physics as well as mathematics and as such kept them all on to an A-level standard. I'm a friendly, patient and understanding person and hopefully these characteristics will help me to eventually pass on the enthusiasm I feel for these subjects to another student. Outside of tutoring, I am happy to help with UCAS applications and personal statements. I can also give advice on medical interviews and any questions about the process of applying for medicine in general.

Teaching Experience:

At school, I was a mentor and tutored a student one-on-one in mathematics to a GCSE standard. I found this to be a rewarding and worthwhile experience. I also helped to tutor a junior school class in mathematics alongside a teacher, this was definitely valuable in developing my skills to be a firm and understanding tutor. Throughout university, I carried on with tutoring and tutored several students in mathematics and biology, which I found rewarding. Throughout my work in hospital, I regularly interact and teach medical students.

Tutoring Approach:

I'm very familiar with how A-Levels and GCSE are examined, I'm a patient and understanding teacher. Having had to do exams for my degree and school, I can help the student find an approach to exams which improves their confidence and allows them to be successful in their future examinations.

Personal Description:
My name is Kay and I have 16 years' experience as a tutor in all of the following subjects and levels:

1) English at Primary level (Years 1 to 6), KS3 , GCSE (Language & Literature) and A level Literature.
2) Maths at Primary level (Years 1 to 6).
3) History at KS3, GCSE and A level.

I also have 20 written references from parents, for students of various abilities, across all these subjects and levels.
I have an English-related degree (in History- which included some English modules within the degree), and I have a Level 1 City & Guilds Teaching Certificate in English.

I also have a proven track record of improving student's grades, regularly improving them by 1 to 2 grades, often in less than 1 year's tuition. For example, in English, I recently tutored a student at GCSE level- he had been predicted C grades in both Language & Literature, but after just 8 months' tuition with me, he achieved an A in his GCSE English Language exam and an A* in his English Literature exam. This is typical of my success over the years as a tutor.

I use National Curriculum Resources for all tuitions. Furthermore, I have great experience tutoring all abilities from the gifted and talented to those with Learning Disabilities (I have regularly taught students with Dyslexia, Dyspraxia and Asberges).

I can either travel to the student's home or they can come to me. I am available to tutor on all evenings of the week, Monday to Friday, as well as in the daytime.I tutor through most of the School holidays, providing the opportunity for students to put in extra revision during these periods.

Teaching Experience:

As a full-time tutor, I have built up an extensive knowledge of the National Curriculum and the various exam boards.
I have also built up a wealth of National Curriculum Resources for English, Maths and History : my 3 main subjects.

For English, I have resources covering the following: Spelling, Punctuation, Grammar , Phonics, Vocabulary, Sentence structure, Comprehension and Creative Writing.

For Maths, I have resources from the very basics: Number Bonds and Counting up and down at KS1, to the 4 operations & main topics : for example Fractions , Decimals and Percentages at KS2 . Also, I have books for Gifted and Talented Maths students at the top of KS2 level. In addition, I have an extensive resource base of past exam papers in all subjects and levels.

For History, I have National Curriculum Resources for the various exam boards and plenty of past papers.

Tutoring Approach:

I am a firm believer in making students feel at ease in the lessons, and in offering plenty of encouragement during the tuitions to build the student's confidence in the subject I am teaching.

I generally teach a topic to a student , and then set practice questions for the student to attempt based on my teaching.I am open to setting homework for the students, but always liaise with the parents as to whether they want their child to have any and if so how much.

Personal Description:
I am a Masters Student studying Oil and Gas Engineering in the University of Aberdeen, UK. I was the best Mathematics student during my Primary and Secondary School education (in virtually every class), so i was among the students selected from the mathematics club to represent the school in various Mathematics competitions, of which i won some prizes. I am a calm individual who understands that everyone is unique with different speed of comprehension. I enjoy teaching Mathematics to all levels, especially the young minds because I believe practicing, solving and understanding mathematics sharpens the brain in understanding and quickly solving other problems in life as they grow. I have over two years of experience; a year in teaching secondary school students in both a government and private school, and over a year experience in teaching a few 1st year undergraduate students. I also believe that mathematics can be understood by everyone, once placed in the right environment (quiet, fun, musical, etc) . My first task would be to find out which suits the student best.

Teaching Experience:

1) Over 1 year tutoring a few 1st year Undergraduate students
2) 1 year full-time teacher in both a private and a government secondary school

Tutoring Approach:

My initial approach would be; identifying the best environment (quiet, fun, etc) suitable for the particular individual, then comprehending the individual's speed or rate of understanding. I will pick up from this point and build up the individual's confidence by explaining the basics of approaching each question while solving as many questions as possible. In this way, the student would be able to tackle or attempt similar questions at his/her level.

Personal Description:
I am a third year medical student at Imperial College London. I am very approachable and patient when it comes to working with kids. Having only just left school and achieved excellent results in both GCSE's and A-levels, I know what it requires to bring the best out of a pupil, and that with hard work and the belief that you can do well, that anyone can go on to achieve their ambitions exceptional grades. Having also only recently entered medical school, I understand their requirements extremely well, and can assist with UKCAT (my score: 740) and BMAT (My score: 6.7, 6.5, 4A) revision as well as working on interview and the UCAS application.

Teaching Experience:

Having recently been recruited by keystone tutors, I have had some extra training with regards to the different approaches with different pupils. Since joining university, I am now assisting 8 students with their studies, all of varying levels and take pride in watching them improve over the past few months. The age group varies from doing the 11+ test all the way up to A-level sciences and maths. Having helped a couple of them with GCSE's last year, they improved from a C to an A in their sciences and achieved A*s in Maths. During my A-levels, I was biology and maths prefect, so every week I would run drop-in clinics for year 10 pupils to help with areas they didn't quite understand. Having had some very influential teachers throughout secondary school, I tried to emulate them when tutoring these students. I am fully aware of how beneficial a one-to-one session can be and look to bring the best out of the pupils.

With regards to medicine, I was president of Medic Society during my last year, which involved informing pupils in the younger years about the application process as well as giving them interview and UCAS application preparation. They all found it incredibly useful and have all received offers from medical schools since.

Tutoring Approach:

"Tell me and I forget, teach me and I remember. Involve me and I learn." (Benjamin Franklin)

My teaching style is based around this motto. My sessions are as interactive as possible, explaining complex ideas in inspiring and interesting ways, making it simple to understand. I believe in setting a good base on which to build upon and then tackling exam questions and focusing on exam technique. Nothing is easy and I do expect the child to work hard in order to understand certain aspects, at the same time I am not stern.

Something I certainly found extremely confidence-building was learning beyond the restrictions of the course guide so that I walked into the exam hall relaxed, knowing that I had excess knowledge, and that the examiners could throw any question at me. It will also help the child's understanding if they do intend to carry on the subject.

Of course I would not pile on too much information if the child does feel he/she is struggling, and would work at a pace they feel is comfortable.
Most important thing though, above all else, is to have fun and enjoy what you are learning.

For potential medicine students, I can provide tips and questions for BMAT and UKCAT practice. There are certain tips that are effective which I can provide. Along with this, I can prepare you for the various different university interviews, having experienced all of the ones which I applied for; Cambridge, Imperial College, St Andrews and Aberdeen. Another important field is the personal statement and I can help to improve it as well as relay it to other contacts I have to proof read it and offer constructive criticism.

Personal Description:
Being academically focused myself, I am confident in being able to motivate and teach through a variety of methods that hopefully excite my tu-tee. Through secondary, I thrived generally in most, if not all subjects. Maths, however, will remain my favourite. I am enthusiastic about teaching and I hope to prove my ability to engage students and guide them on their educational paths.
I am particularly flexible in that I am open to on-line tutoring through Skype if need be.

Currently I am studying Maths, Physics, Latin and Art at ALEVEL.

Teaching Experience:

I've voluntarily taught temporarily at Southfields Primary school, where I taught English.
I volunteer at Sidney Stringer Academy at the Maths GCSE re-take classes for students who are struggling to pass their Maths GCSE at a grade C or above.

Tutoring Approach:

Having recently undergone the exams myself, I feel I'm in the most suitable position to advise current students on how to cope with the content of the constantly changing exam syllabus and exam format. My teaching methods will vary depending on how I assess the student is coping with the subject. If the student learns visually, for example, I can direct them to a range of videos, or even create some myself to suit their learning.
good organisation is key to organising the content both on paper and in your head. As an extremely organised person, I can properly advise students on how to manage their workload to maximise the efficiency of their working.
Different people take different amounts of time to grasp certain concepts and I am open to facilitating their needs.
