I have taught maths in both middle schools and secondary school in the local area for 12 years.

I have been an examiner of mathematics at key stage 3 in the past which had provided a useful insight into how to help students get as many marks as possible.

I have also very successfully tutored many students of all ages. I typically have increased grades from F to B and also C to A*. References and CRB available. I also hold full child and adult first aid qualifications.

Tutoring Approach:

I don't believe in having a set approach to tutoring. Each student is an individual and I adapt my teaching methods to suit them.

Tutoring Approach:

Prior to each tutoring session I will ascertain which topics the student is having most difficulty with in order to tailor sessions to suit each students needs. This will be in consultation with the pupil and parents.

Sessions will be planned fully and during the session the topic will be explained in full - moving at a pace that the student is comfortable with. Each session will end with advice on how the topic could be examined. Notes will be provided to students in hard copy were required.

Teaching Experience:

I have been teaching seconday school students since qualifying in 1998. I have had two full-time posts, worked as a supply teacher as well as having private students. I have worked in Inner London, Outer London, Hertfordshire and Bedfordshire schools. I have also worked in France at a small private school during the '80's, predominantly teaching adults.

Tutoring Approach:

I teach French using the native tongue as much as possible. I use my own resources although I use the Internet for ideas whenever it's suitable.
For Maths I follow the syllabus laid down by whichever examining board the student is using and resources come from a wide variety of places usually from where I have recently been teaching. I gather information from colleagues who sometimes have great ideas. I like to be able to go through past papers with students marking work as we go through a course.

Tutoring Approach:

It can be easy to get lost in a class. Private tuition, though, is all about you. What you need, what you find confusing, what you want to learn.

Come to a session with an area you want to go over, a topic you don't understand or just some homework that you don't get. I promise you that no question will ever be too stupid, no matter how many times you think you have asked it before. We will go over it until we find a way that makes sense to you.

When you don't understand a topic, it is usually because there are some gaps in your knowledge further back - especially in subjects like maths and science. I will help you to find those gaps and fill them in. This often means that topics that used to be just a confusing mass of rules and equations suddenly start to make sense.

Just finished 3rd Year at Oxford University studying Engineering Science in which I achieved a First. Competitive Swimmer, British Record Holder, British Champion, took 2 years out of university to train full time in the lead up to London 2012 Olympics. At A-level I studied Maths, Further Maths, Physics, Latin, achieving A grade in all of them and achieved 9 A* grades at GCSE. I would describe myself as a very relaxed, friendly and approachable person and am extremely patient.

Teaching Experience:

I have a dyslexic younger brother who I tutored a lot for GCSE maths and science. I have also tutored a girl for GCSE, AS and A-Level maths and another boy for AS and A-Level Physics and another boy for AS and A-Level physics. Also at school I helped explain various concepts to fellow students.

Tutoring Approach:

It would work best if the tutee contacted me in advance, outlining where they're having trouble and what they'd like to go over. Then in the tutorials it is best if we work from the tutee's book but I have many I could bring along if they don't have one, and, from my experience, the best method of revising is practice, so after I have explained the concept we will work though some problems together until they have a firm understanding of what's going on.

I have over 25 years of industrial experience. Teaching Experience:

I have over 14 years of teaching experience in business studies at the Open University teaching at both undergraduate and post graduate levels. I have been tutoring KS1 to KS3, GCSE and A-Level students in Science subjects and Mathematics for 3 years. I also tutor English at KS1 to KS3 and GCSE levels. At present I am tutoring KS3, GCSE and A Level students in English, Science Subjects and Mathematics.

Tutoring Approach:

I take a mentoring and nurturing approach to teaching. I prepare students both at GCSE and A Levels to sit examinations by the three main examining boards in England, namely, Aqa, OCR and Edexcel. I prefer to tutor from home and only take on a very limited number of students so that I can give my full attention to their examination success. I have tutored students who have been deemed not to be high achievers by their schools, but have subsequently gone on to gaining A grades at GCSE. I am highly motivated and nothing gives me greater pleasure than to get letters from students thanking me for helping them to gain examination success. I tutor from home as I have found students perform best in this situation and I also have access to all my teaching resources as necessary to tailor each lesson to suit a particular students needs. Although I feel tutoring from my home is a good approach I am prepared to travel to a student's home but will of course need to charge travel costs.

Teaching Experience:

I currently tutored in two secondary schools and have done since Nov 2013. I have been a full time private tutor since Oct 2013. I have tutored part time since Sept 2011. Prior to this I have had voluntary experience of supporting pupils within five secondary schools and one primary school.

Tutoring Approach:

I believe that tutoring is all about formative assessment to establish the pupil's strengths and areas for improvement. A bespoke action plan will be developed tailored towards the pupil's educations needs. I am cheerful and supportive and believe strongly that everyone is capable of success.

I was recommended to go into tutoring by the Director of the Secondary Mathematics PGCE.

I charge a few pounds more if I travel to the student (2-4).

Personal Description:
I'm a wife and mother of two daughters and I work in education. I can't say what age group I prefer working with as I just love the process of facilitating the learning of others and seeing them 'get it' - the light bulb moment! I've been there myself and it's great to see others have the same experience.

Teaching Experience:

I have worked in schools for the past 11 years in a number of roles. I am a trained Primary teacher with a specialism in Spanish. I worked for a year as a supply teacher with classes from Year 1 to Year 6. In secondary schools I have provided a wide and varied support role for English and Modern Foreign Language faculties. I worked for a year as a Cover Supervisor and currently I work in a successful girls' secondary school as a Higher Level Teaching Assistant. I support students across the whole curriculum. As well as a classroom based role, I assist the Special Educational Needs Co-ordinator at the school and so I have a special interest working with young people with special educational needs and also children with English as an additional language. I am confident in supporting learners from Key Stage 1 through to GCSE in most subjects.

Tutoring Approach:

I try to vary my approach to tutoring depending upon the needs of the tutee and their preferred learning style. I feel it is important that the learner has the opportunity to take ownership of the learning experience, though some need more guidance than others. I like to encourage learners so that they realise that they are capable of so much more than they originally thought possible. I mentor GCSE students at my school and find that young people in particular may have problems self-esteem and this hinders their learning, particularly in a group setting. Working one to one gives students that little bit of breathing space they need to work through their problems without having to feel self-conscious - then they can feel more confident and flourish when they go back into the classroom.

I am an English, Maths, History and Science tutor who specialises in teaching children at both Primary School and GCSE level. Tutoring Approach:

My approach to teaching is student-centred. I believe that each student has a unique way of learning and understanding. As a tutor, I try to relate to the student and see through their eyes what they might find complicated. I cover the individual topic with the student, placing emphasis on the problem areas and then ask them to explain back to me what I taught them. I then use exercises, essays and past papers are then necessary to test the student's knowledge and to familiarise them with the format of each exam. The whole process is very interactive and I encourage students to stop me if clarification is needed and try to get them talking about the subject more comfortably.

I'm a very friendly 19 year old student at Loughborough University studying Sports Technology, this is a unique course consisting of Mechanical Engineering, Product Design, and Sports Science modules.
I have 3 little brothers so I have some experience in helping them with their maths.

I have always been good at mathematics, finding it easy to understand and learn. I achieved A* at GCSE and A at A Level.
I have a brother who has just achieved an A* at GCSE maths who I had helped in the areas in which he struggled. I also have a brother who I helped pass his common entrance maths exam 2 years ago at the age of 13.

I am also a ski and snowboard instructor and have been since the age of 16, so I am very experienced in teaching all ages of students.

I am 23 years old and have a Masters degree in Natural Sciences at University College London, specialising in Organic Chemistry and Pharmacology, for which I was awarded First Class Honours (80%).
