Personal Description:
I am an enthusiastic and motivated individual who has a commitment to teaching. I have successfully completed a Mathematics PGCE in secondary teaching and work at an outstanding school.

I enjoy skiing, indo-boarding and keeping fit. I am friendly and I get on well a wide range of people. I like challenging myself and I enjoy helping people. I have a full UK driving licence and I have my own transport.

My most recent CRB check is from July 2013.

Teaching Experience:

My PGCE year showed me different ways to teach children and emphasised being flexible and adaptable to the individual needs to every child. I incorporate this into my teaching practice on a daily basis and have managed to get it down to an art for tuition too.

During my final year at university, I decided to take on the role of note taker/tutor to a visually impaired first year PPE student. This helped me to fully appreciate the art of communication because I had to learn new techniques to implement when typing up mathematical notation and complicated economic expressions. This aided my organisational and time keeping skills as I had to complete my final year studies simultaneously. I undertook this role so that I could enhance my listening and communication skills. But I finished this role having understood the intricacies of teaching Mathematics to someone who has difficulty due to a disability. I was a successful tutor and my work was valued highly but my greatest achievement within this role was ensuring that the student understood what I taught. Carrying out this enriching role meant I saw the student decipher the complex and challenging mathematics and this confirmed teaching as a career choice.

I decided to use the summer of 2010 fulfilling one of my dreams by working with vulnerable children from underprivileged backgrounds in one of the world's fastest developing nations: India. I taught Mathematics and English to Secondary School students using my Hindi language skills to communicate and ensure that the children understood everything that I was trying to convey. I fulfilled this voluntary role for a period of 3 months and it gave me a very deep insight into what a career in teaching would be like. I travelled 18km on a daily basis but I was happy to give up my time during the week and on the weekend in order to teach or invigilate exams. I was committed to sharing my knowledge and giving the best of myself. This experience showed me that it is important to keep thinking and learning new things in order to be a successful teacher. I created teaching plans before each lesson and took advice from the Head Master and my colleagues which meant that I was able to develop at a rapid pace. I recognise that I still have much to learn but I am ready for the next challenge which awaits me. This experience was heart rendering and left me feeling fulfilled in a way I have never felt before.

I have taught over 30 pupils over the last few years. This has ranged from several A level pupils, several GCSE pupils and a handful of primary school pupils. I have also taught university students in Economics. I have taught both male and female students from varying ages. Pupils tend to find that they gel with me quite well compared to previous tutors they've had.

My students notice a difference in their progress within a very short amount of time because I genuinely care about helping them to get the most out of their potential. One of my languages' students has seen a rapid increase in a matter of weeks in terms of her spoken and written work. All of my Economics' students have seen particularly quick progression in terms of analytical and evaluation skills.

I am a hard working and conscientious tutor - I take my work very seriously and I am committed to helping students perform exceptionally well. The feeling I get from seeing a student finally understand a concept is the greatest feeling in the world. However, I don't take myself too seriously and am very easy to get on with.

Overall - I can help with routine homework, assignments, exam preparation, more focused revision, improving memory and making subjects fun and relatable!

Tutoring Approach:

I plan things and I like to identify a student's weaknesses so that I can help them to kick the demons and enjoy a subject in a way they never have done before. I think making the base of any subject strong is essential and means that a student can develop quicker. I also know that it's important not to overload students with too much information so I make things manageable and progress tends to be very fast :)

What are you waiting for? Get in touch to find out more!

Personal Description:
I have completed an LLB Law degree and have furthered this by undertaking a Legal Practice Course. I am currently working as a legal representative. In the past I have really enjoy working with young people and I feel that tutoring is something that is underrated and hugely beneficial to them. Due to working with young people in sports I have a full enhanced CRB check.

Teaching Experience:

At university I obtained a position as a Peer Assisted Learning coordinator and leader, which involved taking on a group of first years once a week in order to go over their notes, help them learn to study, revision and essay structuring techniques. This allowed students to have a different kind of learning environment to that of formalised education in which they were comfortable with practising work and asking questions. I very much enjoyed this and believe that it was highly beneficial to the students that attended.

Working at a local football centre I have been involved in several sporting/coaching projects for young people. This has allowed me to develop different teaching strategies related to different environments; these involve quick thinking and problem solving both skills which I deem to be essential when tutoring.

I have close links to a local secondary school and therefore am able to have access to valuable resources which will aid tutoring sessions.

I offer tutoring in GCSE and KS3 English, GCSE & KS3 Maths, GCSE PE and GCSE and A-Level Law.

Tutoring Approach:

I believe that tutoring is a very important concept for some children. A lot of children benefit hugely from one to one information and reinforcement; and it may be a far more effective learning strategy for them. I think it is important to first gain an understanding of where a child's strengths and weaknesses lie, in order to focus on the areas which perhaps need improvement. I also value a child's input as they are good judges of what they feel they do well and what they may need help with. The tutoring sessions will move at a pace that the child is comfortable with, and help with homework and coursework will be available. For GCSE and A-Level tutoring if desired essay structuring and revision strategies can be discussed and learned, as these are often overlooked in schools.

I feel that tutoring outside of school may help improve a child's confidence within a school environment, be this in the work itself or in class discussions and for them as a person. It is not always easy for a child to speak up at school, and if they do not understand this may result in them falling behind. As a tutor I am able to reinforce school work at a pace more appropriate for the level of your child, and allow them to develop and learn in a way that is suitable and enjoyable for them.

Personal Description:
I am a student at King's College London, currently in my third year of undergraduate medicine.

Having finished school education (@KEGS) with respectable grades, I feel that I am capable of delivering the necessary expertise in the subjects I offer, and relate to the demanding environment of late school life, tailoring my support accordingly.

I am an exceptional academic who has proven himself in various national competitions.

[As for interests, I have always been a keen reader of sci-fi and steampunk. I play fencing and hockey with the uni, while in my younger years I swam and figure skated. I was with the school's cadet force for 5 years and enjoy outdoor adventure.]

Teaching Experience:

None of note. .

Tutoring Approach:

I believe in goal-based learning; essentially targeting and refining teaching of a subject for the specific purpose of excelling in exams. This enhances efficiency and reduces excess learning investment which might be directed elsewhere. While this may seem graceless, I know that this reflects the current ethics of the education system, and that learning for the sake of the subject (outside of the curriculum) is done by those interested enough in it to not require a tutor. Despite this, I am amendable to teaching in full, can adapt to any requests.

I tailor teaching to individual students and ensure understanding is present at every stage before proceeding.

I believe in honest, open teaching and in two-way communication between tutor and tutee. I hope to engage the learner at all stages, discussing and resolving uncertainties and misconceptions.

Finally, I will fully invest my energies into assuring your success, as it will be as personal to me as it is to you!

Personal Description:
I am a physics graduate doing part-time research at Manchester University. I specialised in mathematical and nuclear physics at Oxford and in relativistic quantum theory as a postgraduate in Manchester, and I continue to be fascinated by and study these subjects. Teaching and sharing maths and physics ideas, at all levels, has always been the most important part of it. One of my favourite things is seeing the penny drop for people when they start to become familiar with new ideas, and the pleasure and self-confidence this can bring them.

Teaching Experience:

I have 18 years experience of successful tutoring in mathematics and physics at A-level and degree level, including work as maths tutor at Huddersfield New College, and as maths and physics tutor at Manchester University.

Tutoring Approach:

Friendly and professional, with full attention to the syllabus and to the concerns and interests of each of my students. I enjoy helping people to get the hang of ideas and methods, uncovering their strengths and finding the approach that works for them. I see A-level maths and physics as an opportunity to encounter some genuinely fascinating ideas and insights, as well as developing core skills.

Alternatively, you may be looking for a calm, efficient way to prepare for undergraduate end of year exams or re-sits, or you may just want to learn calculus or cosmology for fun or explore some of the universal principles of the physical world for your own curiosity, such as relativity or quantum theory.

I am happy to visit tutees at their homes (up to around ten miles) or to provide a suitable, quiet space for tuition where I live in the Holme Valley.

Personal Description:
I am a fully qualified maths teacher, and a highly experienced tutor. And Ex cambridge graduate, after completing a PCSE in maths, I taught in schools in staffordshire and Oxfordshire before moving to exeter an becoming a full time maths tutor, which I have been for the best part of seventeen years, with great success. My specialism is making that extra difference to grades, changings D into B's and C into A's.

Teaching Experience:

I have PGCE (Cert Maths), from Keele university, and have taught in schools in staffordshire and oxford. My main specialism is though teaching in small classes and tailoring what I teach to what a small group actually needs, and one can be done at the one to one level.

Tutoring Approach:

I pride myself on a threefold approach. Firstly maths tutoring is of course all about listening to the pupil and working out both exactly what they needs to learn, and how one should teach it. Secondly based on my my many years of experience I know what tends to slip in class room teaching and how that slip can effect learning elsewhere, allowing me to tackle problems any problems in maths at the root, and so making the entire process much easier. Finally, I place lot of emphasis on how one reads maths questions and tackles actual problems. As a maths teacher one all too frequently encounters pupils whose maths is fine, and it is their reading of question (which often seem that they are written in a language of their own), that is the issue. I am therefore very experience in showing how the maths one knows relates to the question one is actually asked. The importance of this cannot be over emphasised - the difference between an A and a B grade is a difference in ones ability to read the question and find its meaning - and then how one does it under pressure… I am also (in another life) a storyteller, performer and philosopher , and use a lot of storytelling, funny *memorable facts from the history of maths, as very much part on my teaching practice.

Personal Description:
Experienced lecturer teaching students at a variety of levels, including tutoring individually, in small groups, as well as in larger groups.

My teaching style is supportive and flexible. I focus on examination preparation but at the same time help students to understand maths and see its practical value. It is quite common for students who struggle with maths to lack confidence and so a very important part of my approach aims at remedying that.

I hold an honours degree in Physics from Imperial College London, and an MSc in Computing from the OU.

Teaching Experience:

20 years as a lecturer in software development (maths applications).

3 years' tutoring maths at KS3/GCSE and 'A' level.

Prior to teaching I worked in hi-tech industry in scientific roles.

Tutoring Approach:

Normally I maintain a clear focus on examination preparation using exercises and past papers where appropriate. Where gaps in a students understanding or skills become evident I:

- ensure the student understands the concepts
- provide summaries of what they need to learn
- provide, and give feedback on, practice exercises to develop "fluency"
- and finally, help the student to understand the value and context of the skill

I ask that my tutees do a modest amount of homework.

Additionally, I offer tuition to adults wanting to improve their maths understanding and skills, for example to help with their career or to pass QTS skills tests etc.
Students and parents have offered positive feedback from the results attained after my tuition including a great improvement in their grade and confidence. For example, a student's grade in A Level Physics improved from originally an E to an A after my tuition, while others attend their preferred schools after help with revision for their entrance exams.
I have helped several students with Asperger Syndrome, those with dyslexia and students who are home-schooled or had to move school due to behavioural difficulties or medical conditions. Additionally, I have had training for and taught students who did not live with their biological parents.

Tutoring Approach:

I find I can relate to students in a calm and patient manner and I have enjoyed helping them through difficulties with their subjects. I endeavour to find and solve the problems students have in their understanding to give them a firmer grasp of the topic, with the benefits from this being increased confidence and improved results.

Personal Description:
I have lived in Lancaster for almost 14 years. I came to University in this city and never left. I live with my husband and two crazy kittens. When I'm not teaching, I enjoy reading, stitching, science fiction and fantasy movies and tv shows and keeping fit (I work out and swim twice a week).
I have a BA in English (2:1) and a Masters in Literary Studies. However, I get the most satisfaction out of teaching maths.

Teaching Experience:

Qualified with PGCE in Secondary English, Qualified Teacher Status awarded 2007
Qualified Teaching and Learning Skills (QTLS) awarded 2013

Last OFSTED grade: Graded Good (2) with elements of Outstanding (1) practice

2010 - 2011
Worked on an army training preparation course teaching English functional skills to troubled and disadvantaged teenagers who were aiming to join the armed forces.

2011 - 2012
Taught maths and English basic skills qualifications to adults in various work places

2012 - 2014
I worked full time as a tutor for adults, teaching the maths and English functional skills aspects of adult apprenticeships in Health and Social Care.

2014 - present
I work as a Functional Skills specialist, advising and training assessors on how to deliver functional skills Maths and English as part of their apprenticeship programmes.

Tutoring Approach:

I prefer to work one to one, focusing on building up confidence and security. I have worked with some very nervous learners and some who have had negative teaching experiences in the past.

I use minimal ICT, I prefer the old fashioned methods of paper and pencil. I design most of my own resources, based on the functional skills idea that maths and English should be relevant to the person who is learning'.

I strongly believe that there is no such thing as 'bad at maths'. The people I have tutored have not previously been taught in a way that works for them.

Many of my learners have gone on to higher education, have started their own businesses and have passed competency tests in maths for EYPS, Teacher Training and Nursing Degree courses.

Personal Description:
I graduated at The University of Oxford, Lady Margaret Hall College in Sept 2012 with a MEng Engineering Science Degree following four years of study. I had completed my A-levels in 2007 gaining straight A's in Mathematics (Edexcel) Further Mathematics (Edexcel) Economics (Edexcel) and Physics (Edexcel). I achieved 100% in a module within each subject studied.
Since graduating, I worked as an Analyst with Kore Capital Investments, a venture capital fund for 18 months, before returning to Engineering with Opus International Consultants, my current employer.
Throughout my studies and working life, I have tutored students from Primary Level, GCSE to A-Level standard in Mathematics, Physics and Economics. I have extensive experience and results to prove my method of studying and delivering the courses. My recent student, who contacted me through Tutor Hunt, gained AA* in Physics (AQA) GCSE Level, after our tuition began (with him on a D/E grade) just 15 weeks before his exams in 2012. I am currently working with him on C2 & C3 Edexcel A Level Mathematics. This is just one of the students I have had the privilege of helping over the years.
At the moment I am teaching students from KS2 through to the A-Level students.

Teaching Experience:

I am currently teaching three students at A/AS Level Maths, 1 GCSE Edexcel Maths, 2 KS2 (Year 8 students) Maths and English and 1 AQA Physics A Level.

I have previously taught all the subjects I have listed, and many students continue with lessons as they progress from GCSE to A Level. I advice on University courses as well as he application process.

I have taught at schools whilst I was working with a tutoring company. I was teaching groups of 6-8 children across A-level maths and A level Economics.

I am happy to teach groups of students for a discounted price we can agree. This in the past has helped students as they have a work partner and are able to complete work outside of lessons together. I also am happy for students to contact me at all times 24/7 in the week as I have all the material at home.

I have previously tutored students in A level Maths and Physics, helping them achieve A's in their final exams. I will prepare well for my tutorials and ensure I keep in contact with the student outside of the organised hours. Homework will be set to expose weak areas for us to work on. Being a student myself and having just recently been through the A level process gives me personal experience to relate to the student.

Tutoring Approach:

My lessons for GCSE and A-Level is based around teaching students how to make notes and effectively learn the material independently. This builds confidence as well as key skills which they can then apply throughout their University and working life. I promote self-discipline and pre planning in preparation of exams and self-study. This is crucial for students to engage with their subject and understand what the examiners will be looking for as well as highlight weaknesses early on and manage time effectively. Each student is of course unique but (depending on what time in the year it is) I usually teach through a template of : Work through course syllabus (Complete nearly all questions)/ Complete Past paper questions as we progress through/ Complete timed exam papers for four weeks before the exams (rotating through the different units). It is usually completing the syllabus and ensuring all topics are understood that is the most time consuming and requires determination. The past papers builds confidence and exposes the students to what questions could be asked in the exam.
For younger students, I work through the basic Maths (Addition/Subtraction/Multiplications/Long Division and other topics) to ensure confidence in the base for the following years. I am currently teaching three Year 4 students who have seen their school reports improve drastically.
You will find me to be a friendly patient and dedicated tutor. I have extensive experience of helping students in their application to University and the different jobs/careers available. Studying at Oxford, I had the privilege to see many of my peer's progress into the Financial Sector, Teaching, Engineering, Medicine and others. I will provide support and advice to the student. I have also worked with a tutoring company, holding lessons for them with 6th Form students as part of their in school program.

All of my current students and their parents can be contacted as well as the company I was working part time with.

Personal Description:
Hey! My name is Niki. Born in Bulgaria, raised in the UK. Fully settled here with my parents, a cat and a dog; Felix & Harry. Just finished my BCs degree in Physics at the University of Kent.

Interests include gaming, socializing, basketball, skating, bass guitar, road biking, going out and staying in.

I have a nice house for tutoring with a sunny conservatory and big garden, as well as some friendly pets who love visitors.

I can only travel to you if you're close or on weekends, as I do not own a vehicle at the moment.

Don't have a CRB check but will obtain that soon. My parents are fostering this August, but I can't use that as proof unfortunately.

Teaching Experience:

No direct teaching experience. A lot of group work during University and in a way teaching yourself, as well as helping your group members understand the problems and solutions better.

Tutoring Approach:

It's important to understand how you think about the problem before explaining the final step or showing an alternative solution. I recently graduated from University so I might have a fresh or modern way of approaching problems, which may differ from the teacher's. This could be very beneficial.

Always friendly, composed and relaxed.

My strengths are lab reports and projects. I achieved over 78% for my projects at University, which is graded as a First.

Personal Description:
I'm currently studying History of Art with Philosophy and Arabic at UCL university in London. My passion has always been Art whether studying it or creating Art, or visiting art exhibitions in London. What most inspires me is the way that Art is rooted in a deep historical tradition of culture, style and politics. Two of my paintings from A level are currently displayed on the Saatchi Art Gallery website. I love teaching too; sharing my knowledge, past experience and helping others younger than me succeed confidently and reach their potential in their upcoming exams. I've had work experience in various Art/Fashion based fields.

Teaching Experience:

At school I have enjoyed encouraging and guiding younger students with their stressful art coursework as an Art and Product Design mentor and a Textiles prefect. I have also tutored Maths and English to family friends for their 11+ entrance exams and GCSE exams.
I am currently tutoring GCSE students in History, Art, English and R.S. I'm also tutoring Maths, English and Art to 8-11 year old children.

Tutoring Approach:

I enjoy teaching, I'm very patient and open minded. My approach to tutoring is conversational in a relaxed atmosphere. I understand how stressful Art or Textiles coursework can be as I've been there myself countless times throughout secondary school and sixth form. My approach to teaching Art is based on what the student wants. I can be their "second teacher" and guide them through it, help them with ideas or help with artist research/analysis. I can also teach them techniques in painting or various other media as it's important to experiment and show different skills. We can visit exhibitions. I'd give them insight and suggest which artists to look at. I have a lot of my old art coursework to look through which may help.

For subjects like History, Religious Studies and Maths, I cover a topic/area per lesson. I can go past the hour if I had to with no charge as I don't like stopping abruptly without finishing the topic. I have various ways of teaching History. I can explain and help understand the topics through Powerpoint presentations, I'd provide resources, past notes and tips on how to approach, write and structure an essay. I like to give short tasks/exercises for the next lesson to keep track of their progress and understanding.

For English, I can help children work towards their 11+ entrance exams. For GCSE, I'd be useful in helping them with texts such as, 'Of Mice and Men' or studying/analysing poetry. I have notes/essays that could help too.

Personal Description:
Hey, I'm currently in my final year of sixth form, hoping to study medicine at university from September. My A level subjects are chemistry, maths and French to A2 level and I studied biology to AS level. Throughout high school, I benefitted from private tuition and I realised that I would love to help those who are currently struggling with their school subjects as I know exactly what it feels like!

I strongly believe that I can help you achieve excellent grades this Summer!

Teaching Experience:

Since I'm still at sixth form, I haven't had many opportunities to teach younger students, however, I have been a maths mentor for pupils at GCSE level.

In my opinion, it helps to have a tutor who is of a similar age and who understands how certain topics may seem complicated but knows how to simplify them and make them more interesting. If you agree, contact me and I can help you to achieve those top marks easier than you think!

Tutoring Approach:

I am 17 years old and I believe that this will enable me to explain complex ideas in more simple terms to any pupils. It wasn't long ago since I was studying for my GCSE's and AS levels so all of my knowledge is up to date.

From my own experience, I understand that it takes time to grasp things that are new but the best way is to keep revising them and doing practise questions to test your knowledge. When tutoring, I aim to explain topics in the simplest terms, then work through some exam questions and teach key exam techniques. In my opinion, everyone should aim for the top but sometimes you just need a little help to get you there! I have learnt some great revision tips and made lots of useful notes so I am more than happy to not only share them with you, but also help you make your own in order to prepare you for the Summer exams.

As I mentioned, I have applied to study medicine at university. In 2014 I took the UKCAT aptitude test and got an average score of 737.5. Initially, I couldn't get over 40% on my practise questions but I learnt some key tips and tricks which I am happy to pass on!
Please email for more info on UKCAT and subject tutoring.
