Personal Description:
am a 31 year old primary teacher who has lived in Birmingham for 13 years after moving here for university. I am hard working, patient, have a good sense of humour and enjoy the job that I do. I like running and keeping fit. I enjoy reading and I feel I can transfer that love of reading to the children that I teach.

Teaching Experience:

I am a teacher in an inner city primary school who is very enthusiastic and eager to work with children either on a one to one basis or in small groups as this is the aspect of teaching I enjoy immensely. I have been teaching for nearly ten years and have experience in both Key Stage 1 and 2. I specialise in literacy and in both schools I have been accountable for standards in this subject in both schools that I have worked in. I have an interest in special educational needs and have been the Inclusion manager at my current school for a number of years. I have tutored a number of children and can apply all I know from working in a primary school when I tutor.

Tutoring Approach:

My hard working and extremely concientious nature makes me a good teacher and I find children relate to me extremely well. Being a current teacher means that I have access to a range of current resources and am very aware of the way children are currently being taught in school and can plan my tutoring sessions accordingly. I do try and make all my lessons fun so that the children want to learn because without that motivation it is extremely difficult to encourage the children to learn to the best of their ability.

Personal Description:
I am a mature postgraduate, currently in the process of finalising my PhD thesis in stellar astrophysics.

I have always possessed a tremendous thirst for knowledge, and am passionate in my pursuit of it.

I believe there are always new fields of study to explore and ideas to engage one's imagination - I suppose one could say that I simply love learning.

Teaching Experience:

For the past two years I have provided private tuition in both mathematics and physics for both GCSE and A level students.

I have also assisted in mathematics and physics problem classes for 1st year undergraduates at University College London.

On top of this I have assisted in astronomy classes for further education diploma students at the University of London Observatory.

Tutoring Approach:

I believe it is of the utmost importance that the student tries to understand the mathematical ideas and/or physical concepts behind the topics they are studying - to picture the problem or situation in one's imagination often helps one appreciate what one is trying to accomplish, and gives one a much better understanding of what is involved in solving problems and achieving success.

This approach of getting inside a subject has stood me in good stead throughout my academic career, and still forms the cornerstone of my continued quest for facts to fire my imagination.

Personal Description:
I have been teaching for 12 years in a variety of educational settings in Further Education, Adult Education and working in Primary schools delivering courses to children and parents. I am currently up to date with primary school methods of teaching English and Mathematics - the latter has changed significantly over the years and parents may find methodology different to their own learnt methods which can cause problems when helping their children with homework.

I have a friendly approach, and encourage learning in a safe environment that enables learners to feel happy and stimulated to learn. But I still expect learners to work hard for me and complete homework when given it. I am a mature person, reliable and punctual, and interested in my students progress in their subjects. I have been so happy over this past year with exam results, raises in grades and the positive feedback from pupils and their parents.

Teaching Experience:

I have been teaching since 1999, and have a varied experience due to working in larger colleges and smaller learning establishments. I have worked in Adult and Further Education teaching English and Mathematics, and also have worked with youth offenders.

I started private tutoring in 2011, and found it a rewarding and enjoyable form of teaching. My learners have varied from 5 year olds & primary learners, those studying for GCSE's, secondary school pupils, English for speakers of other languages and those in Further Education that need extra help with English and Maths one-to-one (extra to their college courses).

Tutoring Approach:

I find it best to discuss with the students their learning needs, then create an 'Individual Learning Plan' with targets we can work towards. I do like to encourage learners to do their best, learn through doing and working out answers. Not so much focusing on 'wrong' answers - but the process of getting there - and realising where problems lie. Then we can remove the misunderstandings and misconceptions that lose them marks (especially with mathematics) and make new connections that enable learners to produce the 'right' answers.

I use all forms of learning through not just text books - but through games of mental maths or spelling, interactive work (if pc supplied in learners house) & help with school set 'mymaths' site, 'doing tasks' from counting money to making maths drawing with isometric paper and many more methods that stimulate a learner to make long term deep memory learning.

Students can feel in control of their learning, and see their progress in their Individual Learning Plans which can be shown to parents and adapted to suit the needs of the learner, either in long term courses or short intensive sets of lessons.

Personal Description:
I live in Crawley, West Sussex and have worked in social care since completing my BA(hons) in 2000. I have worked with many different client groups of all ages, spending the last few years in a training role. I am a foster carer to an older teenager and I am just about to start working as a lecturer at a local college.

I am a positive, approachable person who will work hard to help you (and your child) to succeed.

I have just re-read my profile and feel that it makes me sound a little stuffy! I think it contains all of the information a parent/ potential student needs to know but I just want to add that I have a great sense of humour, I love being around children/ people who want to learn, am reliable and a great time keeper.

* I currently have some additional vacancies on a Saturday and weekday evenings*

Teaching Experience:

I have worked as a learning support assistant in adult education classes and have completed the introductory to teaching qualification (PTTLS) and the PGCE. I am working in a FE college in Surrey, teaching across levels 1 - 3. I have recently tutored children in literacy and numeracy (KS1 & KS2). I have delivered training to adults with mental health difficulties, adults and children with learning disabilities, trainee teachers, college students and staff who work in social care. I have done this in group settings and on a 1:1 basis. I have also spent time working with the foster children who have been placed with me to improve their academic achievements, in particular, with their reading and writing skills.

I have been graded as 'outstanding' in a recent teaching observation - Dec 2013 and am happy to provide evidence of this

Tutoring Approach:

Learning needs to be fun! I strive to make sessions enjoyable, memorable and interactive because I feel that this is the best way to learn. I like to use different learning methods in my approach and will regularly carry out assessment to monitor progress. Regular progress reports on will be available to you because it is important that you know how well you (or your child) are doing and any areas that need to be focused upon.

Sessions will be individually planned and delivered so best to meet your aims and aspirations. Depending on age and ability, I think it is important that students take responsibility for their own learning and I like to set independent work to be completed at home.

When working with children, I prefer to do this in their own home.

I am currently working in the RH1 area and am happy to provide travel in this and surrounding areas during the week. I am also happy to travel further afield for a booking of 3 hours or more. Please contact me should you require any further information

Personal Description:
Hello,

My name is Mital and I have graduated from University College London (UCL) with a first class honours degree in Chemistry BSc. I am 21 years old and live in Barnet North London. I am a hardworking and determined individual, who is always looking for new challenges and new ways to be active. I love sport such as cricket and football and like to play regularly with friends. I also enjoy learning and developing my way of thinking and feel academia provides great opportunities to think technically and logically which are skills very hard to come by and master. I also love watching films and listening to music on a regular basis.

Teaching Experience:

Jun 2009 - Present: Educational Tutor and Mentor

Responsibilities: Teaching mathematics and science to students ranging from KS2 to A-level. Engaging with pupils in a way which helps them focus more on education, time management and revision techniques.

Methods: Advertising the business through low start-up cost methods including leaflets and word of mouth. Using personal experiences to provide a platform for students to work and develop on.

Achievements: Enhancement of soft skills. Managing and working with a total of 5 students at any one time.

Tutoring Approach:

I have been tutoring for 2 years now and am really enjoying it. I get a great buzz out of helping people whether younger or older and helping them to understand and familiarise concepts and theories that may alienate at first. But I also enjoy learning more about people and meeting new people and hearing what they have to say because you never learn enough from talking to people and sharing experiences. I have worked with a range of students from the ages of 5 to 21 and thoroughly enlighten to the idea of helping others if possible and this is why I love to tutor and educate. I believe greatly in what Malcolm X said that 'education is the passport to the future, for the people that prepare for it today' and so it is important from a young age to challenge the mind and allow it to explore new mediums of learning and engaging. This is what I have done most of my life and I can thankfully say it has benefited me a lot. I have always had a great relationship with all my students and have achieved excellent grades with them such as one of my students' received 100% in their GCSE Science exam last year.

Personal Description:
I have lived in the UK for 28 years and I am a native Spanish speaker with a PhD in Molecular Biology. I am fully fluent in English and Spanish to a very high level. I hold a current full CRB check.

Teaching Experience:

I have taught under 11 year old, young adults and adults for 12+ years. I have also trained adults in team building and sales management and taught at University level.

Tutoring Approach:

My approach to tutoring is dependent on what the client aims are. The way I teach is based on what the client wants, how fast the client wants to achieve those aims and the level in the language. I dont use a standard course as every person is an individual and the teaching will be tailored to her/his way of learning. I will agree with the client to achievement milestones so that progress can be measured.
To clarify a few examples:
1.-If the client only wants to speak and understand I will tailor the teaching to that level.
2.-If the clients wants to become fully fluent in Spanish the approach is much more intense and determined
3.-GCSE (Higher or standard) level is taught to that level only, the same goes for A level and such

I do not tend to follow a set course as everyone is different and will have their strengths and weaknesses when it comes to learning. I will tailor my teaching to the strengths so that you can learn as fast and effectively as possible

Personal Description:
Teaching is a profession I have come to thoroughly enjoy. The satisfaction I get from helping learners realize and unlock their potential is something I always look forward to and cherish. I always say the rewards of facilitating learning is one that can not be measured. I consider myself to be young (although students never agree) and I have an enthusiastic drive which I always carry along with my character. I enjoy reading and from time to time write my own pieces of poetry. As the eldest sibling I have acquired strong leadership skills and have had to be a role model for my younger brothers. I enjoy sports, mainly basketball and try my best to keep a healthy life style.

Teaching Experience:

My teaching experience varies by institution and ability. After my degree in Drama and English, I taught at a secondary school in London. Here I taught students in years 7, 8, 9 with different abilities in English and Drama. This experience helped me develop my skills in adapting. Different student abilities meant different strategies and adapting to each learner's ability soon became a polished skill. I also taught drama in a sixth form college during the same time. This presented me with quite a hectic timetable, but also helped enhance my organizational skills. I am currently studying PGCE PCET at the Birmingham City University where I have been placed to teach Key and Functional Skills to Post Compulsory learners.

Tutoring Approach:

I have a very positive attitude to my learners. To me there is no student that is incapable of learning and being taught. The trick to is to adapt a method that can be understood by the learner. I always draw up lesson plans to suit individual learners. This way the learner understands things in a familiar setting. The use of different learning aids is also incorporated in my sessions. Anything from traditional text books to visual aids including educational videos are all tools I use to facilitate learning.

Personal Description:
As a tutor, I take time to determine the confidence of the student in all the areas of their curriculum, finding where they are having difficulties. Together, we then examine problems, breaking them down into fundamental steps and building confidence along the way.

Having completed four years of a physics undergraduate and masters degree, and having obtained good A grades in A-level physics, chemistry and mathematics, I am fluent in all the material that the student will come up against, and know the ''tricks'' of how to understand and remember the important information.

I always take the time to discuss science in no nonsense terms with my students. Beyond teaching my students to pass exams, I have always sought to demystify science and mathematics through one on one discussion.

Teaching Experience:

I have tutored both Gcse & Alevel maths and physics.
I have also taught tutored students through first year physics modules and held small group tutorial session for first year university students.

I also give homework to strengthen understanding of the topic. Also, i usually base my lessons on how examiners will expect answers from the student. I believe working as much as exams papers is very essential for success.

Personal Description:
I am a degree educated tutor with over 5 years working in industry. I enjoy tutoring all subjects, but specialise in Maths, IT, History, Economics and Business Studies. Living in between Blackheath, Lewisham and Greenwich, I am happy to travel up to 10 miles to tutor, as I believe that by igniting interest in education, each child can reach their full potential in every subject.

Teaching Experience:

Tutoring Approach:

Each child learns in a different way, and this is definitely true for each subject. From Humanities to Mathematics based subjects, I like to teach cause and effect methods to try and help the student to truly understand the subject, not just learn it for an exam.

Personal Description:
I'm a student in the University of Bradford, pursuing MSc in Chemical and petroleum engineering. I'm a graduate (Bachelor of Technology, B.Tech) from one of the prestigious universities of India, IIT Guwahati ( Indian Institute of Technology Guwahati). I got admitted in IIT through JEE'08 ( Joint Entrance Examination), which is considered to be one of the toughest examinations of the world for +2 standard for Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry students. Out of the competition from 3.41 lakh students, I got a rank of 3924. I do love teaching, research related to technology and logic.

Teaching Experience:

I used to teach Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry to the pupil in my locality.

Tutoring Approach:

A tutor should have the utmost patience and confidence to induce some confidence to face the exams in his discipline. My prime incentive is to explain concepts thoroughly and let the students come up with examples and solutions for the given problems. A thorough knowledge is to apply the knowledge, I concentrate upon that.

Personal Description:
I am currently in my final year of studying Chemical and Energy Engineering at the University of Leeds however I am originally from the East Midlands. In my spare time I am an volunteer instructor in the Army Cadet Force at a detachment in Leeds city centre.

Teaching Experience:

I have completed training in the Army Cadet Force to successfully become an instructor. This process took roughly 9 months followed by an intensive testing week. The type of training involved planning lessons, delivering and self evaluation techniques. On top of this we have regular courses on safe guarding that are compulsory.

I have also volunteered at my previous senior school in the maths and science department as a teaching assistant. In addition I helped set up and run a play scheme in my home town over the summer - I was responsible for 30+ under 13 year olds as well as 4/5 other young volunteers.

Tutoring Approach:

I find that it varies from person to person. In a general sense, I find that setting the groundwork is incredibly important; ensuring the tutee fully understands the basics and workings before moving on. I am a firm believer in understanding rather than just memorising information for a test.
I also find that motivation is key; varying the type of work and encouraging as much as possible. I completely avoid any negative approaches as I find that everyone will succeed to a higher level when encouraged rather than put down.

Personal Description:
Having grown up with my younger sister who has learning difficulties, I witnessed first-hand, the struggles and the triumphs she went through during her school career and it instilled in me a passion for supporting students with Special Needs. I worked for 8 years with a charity providing respite care for families of children and young people with a range of difficulties, and as a TA in a Special School before my Teacher Training.

Teaching Experience:

I completed my Teacher Training at The University of Hull - a 3 year Primary Teaching Degree for which I achieved a 2:1 with Outstanding teaching placements. Since graduating, I have taught Years 1-3 in an inner London Primary school and always ensured children made accelerated progress. During this time I took on responsibility for Science across the school, as well as the achievement of children with English as an Additional Language.

Tutoring Approach:

My approach to teaching is to inspire children, create a love of learning and a thirst for knowledge. I believe in a practical approach to learning by planning activities that will capture interest - enjoy and achieve! Really understanding students strengths as well as their areas for development is the starting point for successful tutoring.
