Personal Description:
I'm a 26 year old aerospace engineer working for Rolls-Royce with a real passion for teaching. All my life I have loved helping others to learn (my little sister can vouch for that!), and maths was always my favourite class at school. I have a ridiculous amount of passion for the subject and love passing it on and infecting other with the love of maths (my friends, however, think I'm mad!). I think the thing I love most about teaching is the realisation; the point when the 'penny drops' and the student gets a thrill out of learning. This is why I love tutoring.

Teaching Experience:

I've had quite a broad range of teaching experience - firstly, I am a semi-professional salsa dancing choreographer, performer and instructor. A little different from classroom mathematics, yes, but the teaching principles of patience and encouragement are the same in all fields.

I started tutoring when I was at university and a friend asked if I would help one of her year-11 friends with her maths, and I was happy to oblige. This experience made me realise that I not only did I really enjoy it, I was actually quite good at it. She took her maths GCSE and came out with an A grade - her expected grade 6 months earlier was a C.
This experience lead on to me tutoring a year 9 boy for a year. His mediocre grades were pulled up to level 7 - entry level for higher exam papers.

That was 6 years ago and since then I have tutored many students, usually about 3 per year for various periods. My level of expertise ranges from year 9 all the way up to year 13 in maths, and up to year 11 in physics. Although I LOVE physics, I wouldn't be comfortable teaching A-level - with one exception - Nuclear & Particle physics. This was always my speciality - so if you have a niche need, I would love to help!

Tutoring Approach:

I adore the subject matter. My students have told me that my enthusiasm not only comes across when I teach, it actually rubs off on them. I aim to make my students LOVE their subject!

I feel that the best way to encourage a maths or physics student is for them to feel that they are achieving something by doing it. Firstly tell the student how to do it, and then let them do it for themselves. However, going through the motions does not motivate a student to do more off their own back. My aim is to make the student find maths/physics - dare I say - fun. Once the student realises implications of what they are doing, and how important this esoteric language is to the world it really opens their eyes.

Another quality that is absolutely paramount in a tutor is patience. Sometimes students just don't "get it". It's times like these that a tutor's mettle is really tested. I have learnt that a good technique is firstly to repeat what you have explained, without patronising, and then repeat it again, but from another angle. Alternatively, moving on to something else and coming back to the problem helps some students. It is quite subjective, but the important factor is to remain patient and relaxed at all times. Be on their side. If you get frustrated then the student gets frustrated, and then you've failed as a tutor.

One advantage I have is that I am still young enough to relate to the students. I remember taking my A levels (god, it seems a lot more recent than it is!), and building rapport with the student is a good way to get them on board wand help them learn.

Personal Description:
I have spent 8 years at university, completed two degrees (one of which with a Teacher-training profile) and various development courses, and have been meanwhile working to support myself financially. I have been employed as a paid English Language and Literature and ESOL Teacher and have done extensive voluntary community care of people from various cultures and backgrounds. I speak, read and write fluent English, Bulgarian and Russian and operate freely with Microsoft Packages and the Internet

My tutoring experience across two cultures consisted of learners of various ages and educational needs - from students of English as a Foreign Language (adults) to preparation for GCSE examinations (Secondary school age) and basic literacy skills for Primary school children. I have proved to be very efficient on a one-to-one basis or in small groups, always searching to find the individual approach to each student, seeking to meet their needs and interests. Some of my students successfully passed their GCSE exams, others moved up with one level in their acquisition of English. All of my primary or secondary school pupils noted progress within the area they struggled with and some moved up to 'top' groups in their respective school classes.

I am friendly and approachable and children quickly warm to me and feel they can trust me and share their problems with me. I respect each child's individual strengths. I provide for their individual needs. I find a personal approach to each child, as I recognise that their learning styles and interests differ. I have already been tutoring privately for 14 years (across two countries) and have only had positive comments from appreciative parents and students.

I enjoy tutoring adults as well. I have taught ESOL, Bulgarian and Russian to adult students.

Presently I am employed full-time as a Lecturer of ESOL to adults at Birmingham Metropolitan College but I continue to tutor privately. I have a son of 4 years, who is presently attending nursery in Rubery.

During my teaching, tutoring and voluntary community care duties I worked closely with people with various problems and needs. This has helped me develop excellent communication and problem solving skills, as well as openness and confidence. Meeting those people's different needs has also taught me to show flexibility and quickly and independently seek solutions to challenges even in unfamiliar circumstances. I successfully find an individual approach to relate to everyone. Both as a teacher and community carer I have been described as 'friendly, tolerant', 'a good communicator', and a person of punctuality, reliability and 'excellent professionalism'.

For the last 4 years I have mainly tutored clients, forwarded to me by the agency Personal Tutors but now I wish to extend my experience.

Teaching Experience:

During my other wide experience of teaching I have been exposed to various aspects of the profession. While teaching English at a Secondary College in Bulgaria I had the chance to teach English literature more extensively, which deepened my knowledge of it. I also taught English at the equivalent of an A-level in the UK, successfully preparing students for university examinations. My lessons have been described as 'interesting and inspirational'. Teaching basic Literacy, Speaking and Listening skills and Creative Writing to adults in the UK broadened my experience even more. During my various tutoring duties in Bulgaria I worked with children and young adults of various ages and educational needs, which has further enriched my teaching practice and increased my flexibility in target setting.

While employed by Harborne Hill School in Birmingham I taught English Key Stage 3 and 4 and was involved in the preparation of Year 10 for their GCSE exams. I am familiar with the British System of Secondary Education, as well as with the National Curriculum and the importance of teaching English across the curriculum. I contributed to creating schemes of work and various materials for the English department at Harborne Hill. I also widely used ICT in my lessons, as I am aware that it is very important for accelerating children's learning. All my groups had a regular weekly lesson in the ICT suite.

My lesson preparation at Harborne Hill School was described as 'exemplary' and 'outstanding', the contents as 'interesting and stimulating', and my knowledge of the subject as 'excellent'. I widely and confidently used my own initiative to prepare creative activities to suit the children's needs and appeal to their imagination (working a youth leader at St Agnes church provided me with ideas for interesting activities). I was successful in trouble-shooting and behaviour management. I was able to quickly establish personal rapport with the pupils and find an individual approach to each one. I successfully motivated them to work and reach their potential when they were reluctant to do so. I was responsible for creating individual educational plans for the SEN children and individually monitor their progress. My background interest and extensive reading in Child Psychology and Counselling helped me with this task.

Tutoring Approach:

First I negotiate the times and modes of tutoring with the parents of my potential pupil and agree on fees.
Then I organise a free initial meeting with the pupil and their parents, where I try to establish raport with the pupil. It is important, especially for children, to 'get a feel' of the new tutor and see if they can feel comfortable with her.
Then I try to access as much information as possible from the parents and the child about their progress at school and their attitude to school. If possible, I wish to see samples of the child's school work, or hear anything teachers have said/written about their progress.
During the first lesson I conduct an informal assessment of the pupil's skills - give them a piece of text to read, or free writing or short composition, or a couple of Maths problems to solve. When I get a clear picture of where my pupil stands with a certain skill, I create a short-term plan for work with them. I normally bring materials with me and do not ask parents to buy additional materials. If the parent wishes me to follow a certain help-book, I am happy to oblige.
I update parents regularly of their child's progress - I try to do it after every lesson. I normally leave homework, designed to consolidate the material covered in the lesson, or develop their skills further. I wish parents to be involved as much as possible with helping or monitoring the completion of the homework.
I try to show my pupils as much respect as possible and affirm them as individuals. I acknowledge their birthdays, Christmas, or other family celebrations.
The parents can terminate the service at any time, with only one week notice.

Personal Description:
I am a friendly and patient person who loves teaching. I have a background in music and theatre, having a degree and extensive professional experience in both, and have worked at venues including Shakespeare's Globe and The Sage, Gateshead.

As a supply teaching assistant in primary schools I would be a competent tutor for younger children, giving additional help with reading/writing/maths and other subjects.

Teaching Experience:

I have been a supply teaching assistant for over a year and a half and have often visited up to three different schools a week. This means I am very experienced in meeting and working with new children. In schools I do anything from reading The Gruffalo to teaching maths and am sometimes put in sole charge of classrooms. I regularly work one to one with children with learning difficulties. In addition to this, I have led multiple primary school drama workshops on everything from little red riding-hood to The Odyssey.

Along side this, I tutored a 5 year old boy for about a year and then started tutoring his younger brother in basic numeracy and literacy. I am also tutoring a year 5 girl in maths and have tutored a 7 year old boy in drama. References from parents would be available.

Having read music to degree level (2.1 from Durham University) I am in a position to tutor students in music theory and analysis at all levels and can teach very basic piano.

Additionally, my career and training as a theatre director allows me to tutor in drama at all levels, from building confidence with Lamda exams to preparing for drama school. As a director i audition on a regular basis so can coach audition technique for drama schools from the angle of the panel. Being widely read i can also advise on audition speeches.

I offer lessons in acting, covering different skills and methods according to the needs of each individual.

Tutoring Approach:

Often working one to one with students in primary schools, I am able to tutor children who need a little extra help in understanding their subjects. I am always very patient, enthusiastic and positive as I find children respond best to this, it helps the child to trust me and then together we can made strides with learning, be it reading, maths, or anything else in the curriculum.

Whether you need help with Bach Chorales, grade V theory or an essay on Beethoven I can help with every level of music. Having achieved a high level in all these areas I can coach university and school level, or adults looking to progress their musical skills.

As a director i audition on a regular basis so can coach audition technique for drama schools from the angle of the panel. Being widely read i can also advise on audition speeches. I also offer lessons in acting, covering different skills and methods according to the needs of each individual.

My approach to tutoring is simple; I believe results come from encouragement and patience. I think that everyone responds far better to a smile and constructive help than from anything else. I want my tutees to grow in confidence as well as in ability and feel i am the tutor to help.

Hi I'm Niall and I'm currently working for a reputable, local, financial institution in Swindon. I graduated in 2010 in Economics at the University of Reading. My passion to teach started when I noticed younger family members were struggling at school, mainly in Maths. I tutored them all through KS1 - KS3 and GCSE level where they gained exceptionally high grades.

Teaching Experience:

Taught Maths to students aged 11-18 at a secondary school whilst in my second year at university.
Taught Maths and English to students in Turkey at a primary school and secondary school.

Personal Description:
I was born in Pakistan but I was brought up in London. I did my secondary education in Brampton manor Academy which is located in London. Then I did my A levels in Newvic sixth form college. In college I have studying Law, ICT and forensic science. Forensic science is a subject that will provide me with a good foundation in science. Furthermore I selected ICT as an A Level as this subject will help to develop my technical skills, such as booking appointments at work, carrying out independent research on the new to look for new engaging ideas. Studying A-Level Law as enhanced by essay writing and comprehensive reading skills. These skills are important for life at work as I am aware that working life requires independent work and extensive research to complete the tasks at work.

Teaching Experience:

I have completed my work experience in Nelson Primary School. During my period in school, I was involved with a group of year 6 students, teaching them about numeracy and algebra. This practise has made me more confident in talking to different people from various age groups. I have developed a lot of skills as I feel my communication skills have improved and both my oral, written and listening skills are developed as well. Moreover I have also worked in George Green children centre, which is a nursery school. In that time I have gained a variety of understanding about managing and monitoring different tasks. The most vital thing which I have gained during this experience was organisation skills; this involves keeping my surrounding organised and it plays a key role in helping you get things achieved.

Tutoring Approach:

This is the first time I am on tutoring as a full time. I am a very hard working person. I plan out my work routines and make good use of time as in my free time. I always meet my deadlines and give my work of high quality and to the best of my ability. I believe that tutoring will finally give me an opportunity to do what I have always been interested in. I believe that Socialising is very essential, and I always love to meet new people. and i will do my best to teach the candidates to a great level.

Personal Description:
I am a fourth year medical student currently intercalating in Historical and Political Studies at the University of Exeter. I have spent spent a lot of time in the last year teaching small groups of pre-clinical medical students. I initially did it as part of a university project but I enjoyed it so much that I regularly taught two groups of eight long after the project was over (no mean feat after a day on the wards). I have previously only tutored in fits and starts in an informal manner throughout my academic career (phone calls from nervous parents in the run up to exams) and would look forward to building a good relationship as I have found I can give much more effective tuition as I get to know more about the student.

I believe my main strengths are my clarity of explanation and my calm nature.
My clarity comes from a deep understanding of the sciences that I have studied for many years. I believe that all of the subjects I teach are very simple, and that a good explanation is all it takes to bring a student form a low grade to a high one.
This belief brings a calmness which I also believe is very important to produce effective learning as it is difficult to absorb concepts in a stressed state of mind. By imparting an understanding of the material and ensuring the students know exactly what is required of them in their examinations I am confident I can reduce pre-exam jitters.

** Note, I can only tutor students in Exeter itself. I do not have the means to travel outside of the city on a regualr basis.

Teaching Experience:

As above: Teaching undergraduate medical students in small groups for the last year, informal tutoring throughout my many school years

Tutoring Approach:

I always promote understanding as I believe this improves retention, increases applicability of the information learned and (most importantly) makes the subject much more interesting. I try to keep my lessons tailored to what the student hopes to achieve and to make the lessons interactive as possible via discussion ans short questions (ideally from past exam papers).

Personal Description:
I am an enthusiastic, determine individual and very academic. Reading on daily basis is a habit and an addiction, as well as; subscribing to several Science journals and magazines and up to date with current developments in the scientific world. I am very open minded friendly and easy to talk to. I assist friends and families with all sort of coursework from international business management, Human Resources,Geography to Sciences. One thing about academic exercises is that knowledge is transferable. The skills acquired in one area can be transferred to another subject regardless of the fact that subject wasn't studied by the individual. What is required is understanding the concepts, having the structure laid out, having the right evidences to back one's assertion and making your literature flow in a coherent and consistent manner. There is a first time for everything, try a tutor out and don't get too paranoid until you test one.

Teaching Experience:

I have worked as a laboratory technician in Biology and Chemistry laboratory in a college from 2010 to 2012. During my periods as laboratory technician I assist student with assignments. I also teach classes when lecturers are absent. I am an experienced home to home private tutor and teach from primary to university. I still have students I teach all over London and also outside London for instance Slough, Woking etc. I am adaptable and fits quickly in any given environment. I have no problem travelling distances within London. I am an experienced private tutor with students dotted across London. I am also a registered flexible mercurial, fleet tutor.

Grey court secondary school located in Richmond is known to be an 'OUTSTANDING' secondary school with the status assigned by 'Ofsted'. I am currently tutoring Maths and Science in Grey court school and it is a privilege working in this institution.
A private tutor is an individual who provides professional and independent tutelage to a tutee to reinforce and consolidate knowledge and to, enhance better understanding of a particular topic. Evidence from an article in October 2013 Telegraph newspaper stated explicitly that, private tuition on average increases the confidence and boosts academic performances of students.

As a private tutor specializing mainly in Sciences and mathematics I know and understand the difference of private tuition after tutoring over fifteen students. My desire for private tuition developed after working in college as a biology and chemistry technicians for close to two years. I understand that successful science students are those who are capable of unifying theory to practice. These are the style of tutoring that I adopt to help bring conceptualized theory to reality.

I understand that students vary from their method of learning, absorbing and understanding teaching materials. The different types of learners range from kinaesthetic, visual and auditory. During my tutoring session I implement all three method of tutoring and then instinctively monitor and gauge student learning approach and then reinforce the style that is most suitable.
My background an MSc in pharmaceutical biotechnology and BSc in biomedical sciences has exposed me to details of sciences from the molecular level to organism level. Hence, I am very positioned to teach science from different exam boards such as: OCR, AQA, IGCSE, EDEXCEL, WJEC, etc.

Tutoring Approach:

Due to my background as a laboratory technician, my approach is both practical and theoretical. I will ensure you understand the subject topic in depth by creating scenario's, diagrams, examples that matches the theoretical concept being discussed. I will keep prompting the student and using different learning approaches to engage the student to enhance assimilation of the learning material. As an experienced private tutor I have in possession numerous scientific diagrams, lecture notes, and power point presentation which I use in my tutoring. During my tutoring and after students receive materials which continues to assist them in their studies.

I have also worked with Local Government Chemist (LGC) the biggest private scientific firm in Europe with several outlets in the world. I have experienced hands on and progressive scientific developments and several analytically scientific progress.

I demonstrate Scientific experiment and practical alongside teachers. My style of teaching is relating theory to practice. The advantage of this style of teaching is it unifies theory to practice, and hence, consolidating and building scientific confidence.

Personal Description:
I am a 20 year-old undergraduate student in the University of Birmingham, following a degree in mathematics.

Teaching Experience:

In 2010-2012 I was the initiator of a volunteer project called 'Fairy tales in Pictures'. The project involved working, communicating and interacting with children with learning difficulties, playing games with them and teaching them simple things. This was an opportunity to develop my communication and listening skills regarding various kinds of people, becoming extremely aware of the difficulties children can have with learning and understanding new things, and how these difficulties can be tackled.
I have helped my 11-year-old sister a lot with her maths and English language-related lessons over the years. This has helped me understand children better and sense when they are in need for more training and explanation in particular areas. I have also helped friends' children with their problems, offering help, guidance and advice.

Tutoring Approach:

The key method to learning mathematics is by solving problems and dealing with examples. My approach is to give a clear explanation on the theory and then focus on different types of examples to help children understand things through practice. After several examples, I encourage children to attempt problems themselves at first, then ask questions and give small hints, guiding the child to attain the correct answer as independently as possible. I give homework for children to practice their newly acquired knowledge, and I check if they've done the homework correctly on the next lesson.

Personal Description:
I am an enthusiastic and patient teacher with a passion for Mathematics. I believe that life is a constant learning experience and get much satisfaction in helping students in achieving their goals. I am extremely flexible and am always happy to go the extra mile for my pupils. For many pupils I understand Maths can be a very boring subject to some pupils however I choose to engage them with real life application of Mathematics, in order so they can truly appreciate the importance and satisfaction Mathematics can bring.

Teaching Experience:

I have extensive experience in teaching people from a wide variety of backgrounds to include very young children, some with learning difficulties, to high achieving GCSE students. I have even spent some time tutoring prisoners, helping them to learn functional Mathematical skills.

Tutoring Approach:

I believe the key to teaching success lies in the ability to tailor learning styles to the individual. My style of teaching therefore changes from pupil to pupil, and I like to encourage a general curiosity in my students to enable them to learn more from the world around them. I teach not just what to learn but HOW to learn it, as this is an essential skill for future years of studying ( at University etc)
