Personal Description:
I am a caring and patient teacher . I develop good relationships with my pupils and care about their general well being. I adapt teaching aproaches to suit individual pupils to enable them to engage with the learning in a postive and supportive way. Children say they like my lessons and enjoy being tutored by me.
If you home school your child I can provide tutoring of a specific subject area fit around your timetable and the way your child prefers to learn.
I am also a parent of boys with SEN,(dyslexia, dyspraxia, autism and adhd) and have a good knowledge of special education needs and the impact of these on teaching, learning and home life.

Teaching Experience:

I have been teaching for 5 years in the primary age range and really enjoy it. I have been privately tutoring for 6 years covering both all literacy areas and maths. I have up-to-date training in the new grammar, spelling and punctuation KS2 SAT's paper. In the area of spelling, I have current experience in the synthetic phonics approach. I have used this from the beginning stages in year 1, and also adapted teaching with the support of practical materials to pupils in KS2.
I can provide references from parents of current pupils.

I am able to support your child through the transition into secondary school, providing practical ideas to get ready and support during the first term to enable them to remain positive about their potential as a learner. I can also help advise on issues arising from difficulties in personal organisation from moving around the school to coping with having the right things in their bag on a daily basis.

I can tutor pupils through secondary education in English and English literature. I can support those who are experiencing dyslexic issues and need some support with homework.

Tutoring Approach:

I treat each child as an individual taking into account both parents and the pupils views and needs. I provide suport to catch up on missed areas of basic skills, which is delaying learning, as well as being able to support targets set by school for the pupils individual progress. Through an initial consultation I seek to find out what the needs are and, with parents and pupil, plan suitable help to reach their goals. I share objectives with parents and pupils and give regular feed back to both to reach those goals. I belive it is important for all to see progress is being made. With parents and pupils permission, I like to make contact with their teacher to work with class teacher in identifing areas of difficulty and planning appropriate support. I find that this approach give the maximum benefit for all concerned.
The greatest difference I make to my pupils is to increase their confidence which in turn enables them to be more willing to take part in whole class sessions at school. Teachers of at least 2 of my pupils have remarked on the difference in attitude of the pupils who I have tutored.

Personal Description:
I am an experienced English University Lecturer, who is fully qualified to teach English as a foreign language (TEFL). My teaching style is pro-active and flexible, having worked in a variety of settings with different age ranges. This has included commercial language schools, schools and institutions of further and higher education throughout the UK and overseas. I enjoy establishing a rapport with students and making them feel at ease, so they are able to learn and enjoy the experience.

(I have a full UK driving licence and I have my own transport)

Teaching Experience:

As a former University and High School Lecturer in China, I have worked with a wide variety of ages and abilities (from year 7 through to PHD Degree level). This involved teaching adults and children whose first or main language is not English. I have done this in the UK and abroad, where my students learnt English for both business and leisure reasons.

I am an FA (Level 1) Football Coach and can provide lessons on basic Mandarin introduction/culture/etiquette.

Overall - I have experience of helping with routine homework, assignments, exam preparation, more focused revision, improving memory and making subjects interesting.

Tutoring Approach:

I always use a range of course books and materials, including a variety of audiovisual aids. My English lessons have a strong emphasis on dialogue and role-playing, but more formal exercises, language games and literature are also used.
The content of all my lessons can vary depending on the reason why the student is learning English or another subject, e.g. whether it is for business use for adults, school work for children, etc. I aim to make subjects like maths interesting and enjoyable and believe that this gives the foundation for exam success.

The aim of my English lessons is to encourage the students to communicate with each other using the structures and vocabulary they have learnt and to improve the four basic language skills: listening; speaking; reading; and writing.

Personal Description:
I have just completed my second year at The University of Nottingham studying Physics. I am very passionate about maths and science, and would love the opportunity to help improve the experience of these subjects for other people. I think summer can be a very valuable time for extra tuition to either get the subject up to speed or up to date in time for the coming academic year.

I studied my GCSEs at Archbishop Holgate's School and attained 11 A*s and 1 A. I then continued my education at York College where I achieved an A* for Further Maths, As in Physics and Maths, a B for chemistry and an A at AS Level Philosophy.

During summer, I enjoy returning home to York with my family and like to keep myself busy. In my free time, I enjoy reading novels (particularly books in the fantasy genre), playing the guitar and piano, and playing tennis.

Teaching Experience:

I have had a couple of tutees, and have really loved the experience. It has been both challenging and rewarding, and I have picked up some good approaches to teaching various topics. My experience has also highlighted the different styles that are necessary to best engage with the individual tutee.

In addition to this, in 2011 I took a 3 month skiing course which enabled me to become a qualified CSIA (Canadian Ski Instructor's Alliance) Level 2 Instructor. During this course, under the guidance of an instructor, we would practise delivering lessons to each other. There were around 35 people on my course, and so I learnt how to tailor my teaching approach to the individual. I have also shadowed two actual ski lessons, and in both cases (one with a group of around 6, the other with just one person) I was allowed to take charge, which was an incredibly valuable experience.

Tutoring Approach:

I learnt a lot from my aforementioned experiences about the best way to approach teaching, which I think would be transferable to any subject. The way in which people learn greatly varies, and so I always try to get a sense of the person before deciding on the best approach to take. Where I can, I try to be creative, as this will make the lesson more interesting for both the student and myself. I would try to find out the interests and motivations of the student, and apply this to my teaching style. Particularly with a subject like physics, you can apply the underlying concepts to almost anything, which can help to bring challenging concepts to life.

Personal Description:
I graduated from the University of Cambridge with a BA (Hons) in Mathematics and an MSci in Astrophysics. I also gained a Mathematics PGCE at the University of Oxford, funded by an IMA Scholarship. I am currently teaching at a leading independent school, and am looking to tutor either students requiring assistance with their current level of study, or those wanting to push ahead with higher levels of problem solving (e.g. UKMT Maths Challenge/Olympiad papers, Sixth Term Examination Papers required for entrance to University of Cambridge, etc).

Teaching Experience:

I currently teach at a leading independent school, between the ages of 13 and 18 years. I have considerable experience in tutoring students at GCSE, A-Level and, in particular, for the University of Cambridge entrance examinations (Sixth Term Examination Papers, STEP). I also self-taught both Maths and Further Maths A-Levels, three years ahead of my peers.

Tutoring Approach:

I aim to teach students to have a more in-depth understanding of the mathematical problems at hand, not just to simply perform in national examinations.

Personal Description:
Unlike many, who kind of drift into teaching, because they couldn`t think of a job they wanted to do, I made a change of career after 20 very successful years in the computing industry. I was doing very well developing computer software, but I wanted to do something which was a little more sociable than staring at a computer screen all day, and I felt that helping young people learn would be a worthwhile use of my time. So, teaching maths seemed like a good idea, especially as I`ve always enjoyed the subject. This is my main subject, though I also teach physics and chemistry.

As well as teaching I have published two maths books, available in hard-copy and kindle versions. One at GCSE level and another at A-level.

Teaching Experience:

My experience is a bit different from most UK teachers. Sure, I`m UK qualified and have taught in England, but I`ve also taught in New Zealand, Germany and Italy. For me (and for you) this is a huge plus, because the standard of teaching is better abroad. People mistakenly think that getting a teacher with years of UK experience is the best strategy. Nothing could be further from the truth! You will probably get someone with good behavioural management and admin skills, but it will be at the expense of their subject skills. I`ve taught across the entire 11 to 18 age range and at all abilities from struggling 11 year old students to top set 18 year old students. I`ve taught in all-boys schools, all-girls schools, mixed schools, FE and sixth form colleges. This has been at schools that get good results!

As well as A-Level, I`ve taught IB Diploma: at both Standard and Higher Levels (also Mathematical Studies). This has been mainly maths, but also some physics and chemistry. I`ve given intensive revision courses in Standard Level Mathematics, and Higher Level Mathematics, which were very well received. Once again, I would have to say that IB Diploma is more demanding than A-level - on both the student and the teacher.

So, whether you need help with Core, Further Maths, Mechanics, Statistics, or Decision Maths, I`ve got the recent experience teaching all of these. In addition to maths, I have recently tutored A-level physics and chemistry too. This has been across several exam boards: Edexcel, AQA and OCR.

For maths students,I can help you get the best out of your graphics calculator (all senior maths students should have one), which, despite what your school might tell you, is allowed and will give you an advantage in your exams. On this point, you might like to note that I have published a book about using the TI-Nspire, for those taking GCSE or IGCSE. And, I expect I will publish another one, for A-level and I.B. Diploma students, before too long.

Among the schools whose students I have recently tutored are: Dame Alice Owen`s School, Enfield County School, Enfield Grammar School, Highlands School, Hockerill Anglo-European College, Princess Helena College, Southgate School, St. Michael`s Catholic Grammar School, The Latymer School, The Royal Masonic School for Girls, and Woodhouse College.

Tutoring Approach:

I`m typically very informal and relaxed, which most students seem to appreciate.

When you come to me, you get to choose what you want help with. Unlike far too many tutors I won`t try to tell you what the lesson should be about, unless this is something you want me to do. In fact, some of my students have been known to ask for (and receive) help in maths, physics and chemistry, all in one session.

Personal Description:
Educated at King's Collage School, Wimbledon and a subsequent degree course in Electrical and Electronic Engineering at King's College, London, I joined the BBC as a television recording engineer in 1976. I became a successful editor with the BBC and continue to enjoy the same role, now on a freelance basis. Increasingly I have been involved with training. I have had much great feedback which has encouraged me to take up tutoring as an additional role. I am a good communicator and have the knack of explaining sometimes difficult concepts with clear and concise explanations. I have kept in touch with my 'good' core subjects (maths, physics and science) throughout my life and retain a keen interest in all of them. So I'm not just a book-based dry academic but someone who knows how to fire enthusiasm for learning that will never stop and hopefully pass exams that will open the door to the next opportunity. My work has never been Mon-Fri 9-5 so I am available during the working day in term time and holidays

Teaching Experience:

My role at the BBC has involved a considerable amount of training for not only for kit and the craft of editing but also to improve the presentation of an individual to perform well in front of clients, often in an stressful situations.
I have now been tutoring Maths for over a year and currently have 4 students ranging from pre-GCSE to A Level. I have received much good feedback from parents and students alike.

Tutoring Approach:

With a new student I work hard and quickly to identify areas of weakness in the understanding of a subject and repair that damage as quickly as possible. This is essential, especially in maths, as new concepts can rely so heavily on previous knowledge which, if absent, will make comprehension of new material even more difficult. This is presumably why you are looking for a tutor at this time. Homework and attempting past exam questions are essential not only as feedback for me to know how successful any lesson has been but also a way for you (and your parents) to see if any improvement has been achieved. A return for your investment in other words. Get in touch.

Personal Description:
I am an Imperial College graduate in Biomedical Engineering (masters).
I was born in Italy from Italian parents, but have lived in the UK since I was 6 years old (I'm perfectly bilingual). I attended the European School in Culham, near Oxford, before moving to London for university.
I am a friendly and outgoing person, when I'm not busy with uni work I like to be in the company of friends, enjoy cinema, live music and playing/watching sports, particularly football and squash.

Teaching Experience:

Over my first two years at university, I helped some As and A-level students from my old school, especially during their exam period (i.e.: one on one revision sessions, helping out with coursework and writing sets of revision notes) in Maths, Biology and Physics.
Early in 2011 I joined the Blue Tutors agency, where my teaching skills were assessed and received full accreditation.
In October 2013 I did weekly one-on-one GCSE maths lessons for the month leading up to an exam. As well as the lessons I made revision notes for the student, whose mark increased from C- to B.
From January to April 2014 I was Project Coordinator and voluntary teacher in weekly extra curricular activity "Code Club", a basic computer programming workshop at Pimlico Academy. Generally about a dozen 13-14 year old students attended.

Tutoring Approach:

My approach to teaching is generally quite friendly: I believe that at a subconscious level, a student will be much more inclined to listen to and learn from a person they trust and appreciate. However, I also believe the teaching style must be suited to the student, and largely depends on the subject being taught.
A particular technique which I have learnt from Blue Tutors and have tried to implement ever since, is to try and lead the student to the answer by asking the right questions, rather than just giving him the answer.

Personal Description:
Hi
If you need simple solution to your problems I can help you. I am willing to provide any sort of help in your studies so that you can get good grades. I am a undergraduate student studying Electronics at the University of Hull. I have always had a passion for maths and science and would love to continue studying to a postgraduate level after completing my degree. I am sure that tutoring whilst being in the midst of studying advanced cutting edge science will be highly beneficial to any students that require help with concepts which I use daily in my work.

Teaching Experience:

I have been teaching student for about 4 years now.
I am also currently working as a class room assistant in Wilberforce Collage, teaching A-levels Mathematics.

Tutoring Approach:

I will try to explain in a very simple straightforward way, and several times until the concept is clear.
I believe in the positive impact of interactive, hands on learning in a one on one situation, which I feel allows students the extra time, attention, and experience they need to thoroughly grasp a subject or topic.

I think that building a solid foundation of understanding with students allows them the ability to apply their own knowledge to more technically challenging concepts in order to gain maximum fulfilment from their studies

Personal Description:
Hello! My name is Alice. I am a 20 year old, second year Economics undergraduate at the University of Edinburgh. I studied Maths, Politics and French and Further Maths at A-level in which I obtained A*, A*, A and B respectively.

I offer tutoring in Maths, Economics and Politics. I also obtained 10 A* at GCSE in Maths, English Lit, English Lang, French, Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Latin, History and Drama.

In University term time I live in Bruntsfield and in the holidays I live in central London. I love working with children and young adults and, in addition to tutoring work, do lots of babysitting.

I am very interested in politics and current affairs, enjoy reading and swimming and love to travel.

Teaching Experience:

I have tutored all subjects at 11+ and common entrance. I also have loads of informal tutoring experience, teaching family and friends. This has been mostly Maths and English GCSE work and I have seen some fantastic results from the students I worked with. I also spent some time last year working at a school in India where I taught Maths and English to children between the ages of 7 and 13.

Tutoring Approach:

Given my relatively recent experience of GCSEs/ A-Levels/ University, I am aware of the curriculum and it's demands. I approach tutoring in a fun and accessible way to try and encourage the child to work hard at the subject through his or her own volition rather than through being forced.

I aim not just tutor the child to pass the exam, but to go beyond this and provide a comprehensive knowledge of the subject. I believe that it is first important to identify the areas that the child struggles with most and build up their confidence with these topics. I recognise that every child will have different needs and will establish what these are and create the lessons around them.

Personal Description:
I am a PhD candidate at University College London (UCL), the Advanced Centre for Biochemical Engineering (ACBE). Currently working on perfusion impact on retinal differentiation of Human Induced Pluripotent Stem Cells (hiPSCs) using Microfluidics. During my undergraduate studies I spend a summer at NBT Corp. where I worked on Bioflash, an effective product that promises to play a major role in fight against malaria. I later on joined the Pasteur Institute, where I worked on a collaborative project with the Eastern Mediterranean health Genomics and Biotechnology Network (EMHGBN) as part of WHO/EMRO to expand the network throughout the region. I received my BSc in Biotechnology from UCL in 2008 and continued my studies towards a Masters degree in Nanotechnology & Regenerative Medicine at UCL Medical School Department of Surgery. During my Masters I worked on designing a nanostructured scaffold for Tissue Engineered Trachea. The scaffold was transplanted into patient as the world's first synthetic trachea transplant on 7th of July 2011 at Karolinska Institute in Stockholm, Sweden. Teaching is a passion for me and I enjoy helping others achieve the best of what they can be. I believe teaching is an art as much it is a combination of techniques both for student and teacher to interact, hence helping in transfer of a knowledge and most importantly a way of thinking.

Teaching Experience:

I have been tutoring in Biology, Chemistry and Maths all the way throughout my studies to individuals and groups.

Tutoring Approach:

Mostly depends on the tutees and their goal and how they best learn a subject. The value of hard work cannot be underestimated though and I expect the highest from my students. I am very creative in my approach and open to suggestions by tutees and parents. There are certain methods that has been proved to work but I believe every person is different and thus the approach should be different. I'd like to spend the first half hour of my first session to get to know the student, find out what are their needs and agree on the best method to proceed.

Personal Description:
Hi, I'm Tara. I recently graduated from The University of Sheffield, receiving First Class Honours in French and Hispanic Studies, with a Distinction in Spoken Spanish. I have over two years` experience in one-to-one tutoring of students between GCSE and degree level, and understand the importance of adapting materials to the needs of individual learners.

Teaching Experience:

I have been learning French for 12 years, and Spanish for over 9 years, and would be delighted to apply my extensive knowledge of both these languages. I am able to explain grammatical and more technical points to students, and can also provide the opportunity for speaking practice outside of the classroom environment, which I understand can be very daunting! In the third year of my degree, I spent 6 months working in Paris, France and 4 months in Nicaragua. I am happy to share my experience of living abroad, as well as respond to any concerns about spending time in French- and Spanish-speaking countries

Whilst at college, I was responsible for tutoring students in GCSE English and Maths. This was a role I pursued during my time at University where I was an English learning mentor. I am able to explain technical points in Maths, as well as grammatical points in English, and resolve any issues regarding textual analysis and literary context.

Tutoring Approach:

I think it's really important to produce learning materials that are tailored to tutees' individual needs. I prefer to adopt a hands on approach, with pen and paper, and encourage my students to take note of what they're learning (whether on paper or using other methods). I am conscientious of the importance of constantly engaging with my tutees, and allowing for consistent two-way communication.

I also value the importance of feedback, and after every session ask my tutees whether there are any elements they would like me to change, remove or add in the following session. I consider myself very flexible in my approach, and am also aware that every learner is different. I make every effort to be as accommodating as possible.
