Personal Description:
My name is Sam and I am a 23 year old with a first class masters degree in physics from the University of Southampton. I will be starting a PhD in nuclear fusion in October and thoroughly enjoy learning about maths and science and find tutoring a very rewarding experience. My asking fees are negotiable.

Teaching Experience:

I started tutoring just after finishing my GCSE's. I taught students GCSE maths and science on a weekly basis over a period of two years while at 6th form. While being at University I have carried on tutoring teaching students A level and GCSE physics and maths on a weekly basis. I have a lot of experience in dealing with students of various abilities and always try and find something interesting about the subject that will appeal to my student so they have more motivation and desire to learn.

Tutoring Approach:

I believe the best way to solve a maths problem is to work through a general method. When teaching maths, I break this method down into small, simple steps and teach each part of it individually. Once I have worked through the method with the pupil and made sure they understand it I will then set some questions either from their text book/past exam papers. As the student progresses through the questions and gains confidence with the method I will cut down on the amount of hints I provide to show the student that they can do the problems by themselves. Having said this I will provide the student with all the encouragement and help they need. With maths repetition is key and so I believe setting questions for the student to do in the next couple of days by themselves is essential. It allows me to see if the student has fully understood what we covered in the previous session and is a brilliant way to improve the students confidence in their own self ability.

With science I take a part of the syllabus at a time and work through it slowly. Science is much easier to learn when the ideas and theories are well understood and not just thrown at you and so I make sure the student fully understands what I am saying before moving on. Science can often be rushed in classrooms with many ideas thrown at you all at once and it is very easy to get left behind. I believe that taking the time to read over your notes after a lesson is a brilliant idea. By doing this you can identify areas that you are finding hard to understand and it will make time with a tutor much more effective.

Personal Description:
I am enthusiastic, approachable, bubbly professional who lives for teaching. Well articulated and presentable. Teaching is my profession which I really do enjoy doing. I was born in Wales, taught in Swansea and Birmingham. I have also tutored through local authorities and schools. I am well specialized in Mathematics and very much enjoy the subject.

Teaching Experience:

I specialize in Secondary Mathematics 11-18 years, with teacher training from the Birmingham University. I have also tutored via Fleet tutors and the local authority, including family and friends. I have experienced teaching Maths in several comprehensive.

Tutoring Approach:

I prefer to be direct and highly organised and I put forth the tutees to pick up these skills early on as it makes teaching and learning a lot less difficult. I explain the whys in mathematics rather than work on solving solutions as I believe grasping an intuitive concept will lead to the material staying longer in the memory and utilised in future practical use. My approach to teaching is simply to teach in a way that pupils never forget.

Personal Description:
I have recently completed a master's degree in Economics and am planning to pursue a PhD in the upcoming year. The exposure I gained throughout my studies has enabled me to become an extremely responsible, organized and motivated person and I put in utmost effort towards achieving my goals. My experiences have certainly allowed me to obtain skills which are necessary for this specific field.

Teaching Experience:

Teaching has always been an appealing field for me. I have been working towards this career since many years and it has certainly been an invaluable experience. I have been providing home tuition from in Economics, Mathematics, Statistics, English language to students upto GCSE. Since the past 5 years, I have been providing home tuition to students, especially to those who were academically weak. During my undergraduate study, I took the active role of a student mentor where I helped classmates facing difficulties in Maths and Economics. This helped me attain the necessary skills and confidence and built on my enthusiasm towards the field of teaching.

Tutoring Approach:

I have always possessed a passion for working with young people, focusing on discussing their individual goals in order to be the window through which many young people will see their future. I focus on motivating my students by using creative and inspirational methods of teaching. What makes me stand out from the rest of the crowd is my different approach in teaching because of which students enjoy my classes and seek out to me for new ideas. My goal is not to simply teach students, it more about investing in them with all my effort. I have always believed in helping students in setting realistic goals and assisting them in achieving standards which maximize their potential. I seek ways to branch out my knowledge and passion for teaching. Gaining confidence and trust of my students is essential to me. Therefore, I ensure that I employ teaching techniques which aim at developing a mutual understanding with my students which helps them feel comfortable while seeking my assistance. I am flexible with my teaching methods in order to cater to the particular requirements of every student that I teach. Personal Description:
My first teaching job was in Kenya when I was 19, and since then I have taught English in Mexico, Brazil, Japan and England. My students have ranged from 4 to 94, and from beginners to doctors and academic researchers, focusing on conversation, business, or exams, depending on the student's needs.

I have a passion for language, whether listening to strangers on the bus or exploring grammatical structures, and my students pick up my enthusiasm and enjoyment.

I have written a book on psychology, linguistics and science, edited children's books and academic texts, and worked as a translator of both Portuguese and Japanese.

My BSc is in Life Sciences with the History and Philosophy of Science and Medicine, and I am interested in nearly everything, except football and cars.

Teaching Experience:

2010-present: ESL teacher, language coach for academics, and private tutor to Japanese kids.

2006-2010: Private English tutor (in MG, Brazil).

2001-2005: High School teacher and private tutor (in Kyoto, Japan)
1999-2001: Elementary and Junior High School English teacher, also special needs class (in Fukushima, Japan).

1997: Teacher for tortillas and lodging in the jungle (in Chiapas, Mexico)

1995: Volunteer school teacher of English, Science & Maths (in rural Kenya)

Tutoring Approach:

I use only English in my lessons, encouraging my students to speak as much as possible, and to correct their own or each other's errors wherever possible.

My emphasis is on fluency, natural language and confidence, so when teaching grammar or considering problems, the student can refer to concrete examples in their heads, rather than abstract formulae in textbooks.

I use a broad range of materials, techniques, and situations, setting high standards and pushing my students to work hard towards accuracy and creativity in English.

Though I am happy teaching one-to-one, I find that a group of two to four students can be more dynamic, more relaxed, and a better environment for free expression and mutual correction. If you agree, I might invite you to join a class of students at a similar level, which makes the lesson much more economical for you.

Personal Description:
I recently graduated from Oxford University (Christ Church) with a BA (Hons) in History of Art, and am now reading for an MA in History of Art at the Courtauld Institute. Aside from studying I am learning Italian, enjoy playing piano and keeping up to date with current exhibitions, plays and concerts. I travel as widely as possible and enjoy enriching my academic work with the unique experiences and case studies such travel may afford.

Teaching Experience:

Since August this year I have been tutoring a number of clients in London at KS3 and GCSE level, in English, Sciences and Mathematics.
Additionally, during my A Level year I tutored of GCSE students, gaining a 100% A -C pass rate.

Tutoring Approach:

Having attended some of the most academically intensive institutions in the country, I am well suited to provide academic support and guidance to those wishing to improve their achievement, from primary to degree level.
I believe that the role of a private tutor is to create a tailor made, interactive and stimulating environment in order to help students grow and explore within their subject. I believe instilling confidence is key to this approach - I am a patient, friendly and approachable tutor and work hard to encourage an atmosphere in which honest discussion and a lack of self consciousness when learning are paramount. I provide support for all aspects of learning, from discussing homework to improving core skills.

I am familiar with exam board requirements for each subject, and as a tutor work towards success in exams, but also towards a greater enrichment above and beyond curricula.

Personal Description:
Hi, I am a student of Physics and astronomy at Cardiff University. I am 20 years old and I was born in Prague, Czech Republic. I have many hobbies (Astrophotography, RC models,) as well as interests in sports (rowing, skiing, diving, cycling).

Teaching Experience:

During my last year of college I was chosen by Maths academy of my college to tutor my year younger class mates. Although the offer was initially only for Maths, I soon also tutored Physics, Chemistry. During last 3 years I was an instructor at a summer camp. I was responsible for group of 10 boys(age 8-11). At this camp I also did presentation about astronomy and science generally as well as helping their struggles at school.

Tutoring Approach:

The only way be successful at science subjects, tutee must understand the topics instead just memorising the subject. Because of this I mainly emphasise on understanding and completing enough exercise. I also try to relate the question to the real life problem (or experience) to make it easier to imagine it.

Personal Description:
I am a Physics and Maths Tutor who is currently pursuing a MSc (EuroMasters) in Theoretical Physics in collaboration with 7 different South-East Universities including University of Sussex, Southampton, Queen Mary, etc. Currently, I am also an Associate Tutor at University of Sussex. I enjoy playing sports and games like Cricket, Football and Chess.I was also a part of National Cadet Corps (NCC) in my School days. My musical interest lie in playing Tabala (Indian Drums). I have a tremendous interest in research in Mathematical Physics and hence I have spent time doing a paid-internship at CERN, Geneva and research projects at University of Cambridge, UK. I take passion in sharing my interest towards the subject with the students I get involved with and henceforth motivating them towards achieving their goal.

Teaching Experience:

Currently, I am an Associate Tutor at University of Sussex which involves conducting workshops for some of the undergraduate modules. I have also previously tutored University & GCSE/A-level students and have gotten positive feedback. During my BSc course at Uni of Liverpool, I have assisted with carrying out physics experiments and problem solving exercises for GCSE/A-level students at 'Physics Olympics Worldwide'. I have tutored kids to play 'Tabala' (Indian Drums). When I was a Cadet, I have taken part in many public awareness programs to instruct children to take up schooling and opt for higher education. I have actively participated and helped in arranging lectures at the 'World Year of Physics' at the University of Gulbarga, India.
In 2011 as a BSc student, I participated in the Summer School Research programme at CERN, Geneva, Switzerland, giving presentations to Summer students about my work.

Tutoring Approach:

My approach towards teaching varies with each student and their needs. Generally, for a subject like Physics it's very important that we lay down the basics of a concept very firmly in the minds of the students. To do this, I provide a visual aid with day-to-day experiences so that the pupil can think, rethink and understand the concept very clearly. This would not only build confidence to solve class room questions or exam questions but would also motivate them to solve/understand more complicated problems and hence appreciate the simplicity of nature. For Mathematics, a lot of students suffer from fear of equations. This fear in students can only be circumvented by familiarizing with different kinds of problems involving different tricks and techniques of the trade.
I always engage a friendly manner of teaching so that the student can get comfortable to ask about any kind of conceptual difficulty that he/she may face. When it comes to the exams it is crucial that we go through the wealth of past papers and problems to familiarize them with the kind of questions they might ask and answers that they might expect. In each session, I would help the pupil work through questions which have frequently appeared in the past papers and let the pupil solve a few so as to make sure he/she has completely grasped the concept/technique.
So regardless of the grade your child is trying to achieve, please feel free to contact me if you would like to know more.

Personal Description:
I am a Maths Mentor in a secondary school with a CRB in London with a Bachelor degree with 1st Class Honours from Warwick University. On weekdays, I work in a financial institution and providing tuition to students on weekends.

Teaching Experience:

I have 1 year teaching experience to GCSE Foundation and Higher Maths paper.
This year result was good, few of my students have improved from F to a C grade.

Tutoring Approach:

My tuition style depends very much on the student's individual needs. Gaining confidence is the key in improving Mathematics grades. I also like to share my life experience which I believe is beneficial to help another one believe nothing is impossible to archive if they work hard. Helping the student to find their abilities is key. I strive to help them enjoy their subject and develop not only during tuition but also in broader terms with regards to self directed learning.
I am available after 6pm on Wednesday and most time on weekends.

Personal Description:
My name is John. I graduated from the University of Manchester in 2013 an I hold a BSc (Hons) in Mathematics and Statistics. I have 4 A Level qualifications, in Mathematics and Further Mathematics at A* grade level, and in Biology and Chemistry at B grade level. I have 10 GCSE qualifications, all at A* or A grade, including Mathematics, English and Sciences.

I currently work for the Financial Operations department of Sainsbury's. I work in the Retail Takings team as the Cash-In-Transit Account Controller. I am responsible for all cash deliveries and collections from our 1000+ stores, whilst also overseeing refurbishments and new store openings.

Teaching Experience:

I have excellent tutoring skills, having often helped other students at university with their mathematics modules with great success. I was also credited during my A Levels for how I brought other students on with their studies, especially in the very challenging area of Mathematics.

I have, and still am, tutored children of various ages. My expertise is in A Level and GCSE level tuition. I am very focussed on exams, ensuring expected grades are met and beyond. However I also like to heighten understanding of the subject wherever possible, whilst keeping exam focus. I have received excellent feedback from parents for my open style and my ability to engage youngsters who do not see Mathematics as a priority.

I have always been proficient in helping my peers throughout my time studying, often picking up lower achieving peers and helping them achieve their potential. I have always been keen to not fall into the trap of 'doing the work for them' whilst helping peers, which is all too common in this situation and gets no one anywhere. I have always received excellent feedback on my more 'teacher like' approach.

Tutoring Approach:

I am very enthusiastic about tutoring. I have a passion to pass on knowledge to others and help them reach their potential.

My approach is one which gets the student thinking as much as possible. I try to teach technique to answer questions whilst giving a backbone of knowledge which can then be used in further work. I think summarising is key, and I always will insist on detailed note taking.

My main frustration with students these days is how they try to attempt questions and calculations without consulting notes they have made in previous classes or sessions. I try to advise the approach of considering each inividual problem and thinking carefully how any knowledge previously gained can be applied. In this way students are always thinking and re-processing information which will prove fruitful when it comes to examinations.

I have recently completed my [Merit] MSc Space Science & Engineering at University College London and previously achieved [1st Class] BSc Astrophysics from Aberystwyth University, Wales. I'm originally from Stoke-on-Trent, UK

I strongly believe in the importance of the STEM subjects as they are fascinating and play a dominant roles in the world we live

I am 22 years old, have been DBS checked (valid from 12th January 2014) for my STEM Ambassador role - I was involved with a Rocket Club in a local Academy/high-school and advised another group of school students on their space project concerning power generation for a human outpost on Mars

I enjoy energetic and competitive sports, was Men's 2nd Team Badminton Captain, play pool/snooker, tennis, croquet and rock climb. I am starting/resuming golf, cricket, guitar, violin, piano and clay pigeon shooting.

Teaching Experience:

Personal Description:
I'm a recent Chemical Engineering graduate from the University of Bath and I'm currently working in Bristol. I enjoy socializing with my friends and meeting new people. I love travelling and experiencing new cultures, foods, and lifestyles. I am always learning about something new, be it a a language or a completely unfamiliar topic.

Teaching Experience:

I've previously taught A-Level Chemistry and successfully improved my tutee's grade from C to A. I've also had some experience in teaching basic Maths. Additionally, I hold a TEFL certificate which enables me to teach English globally. Working towards this certificate helped me learn and improve some teaching skills applicable to any tutoring situation.

Tutoring Approach:

Since when I was little, whenever I was taught something at school (or later, university), I usually thought to myself, "this concept could be explained a lot easier". And I proved this to myself in real-life situations or when explaining something to my colleagues. The key to helping my tutees understand easier is to simplify the subject as much as possible, in other words into manageable chunks...

Personal Description:
I am a PhD candidate at University College London (UCL), the Advanced Centre for Biochemical Engineering (ACBE). Currently working on perfusion impact on retinal differentiation of Human Induced Pluripotent Stem Cells (hiPSCs) using Microfluidics. During my undergraduate studies I spend a summer at NBT Corp. where I worked on Bioflash, an effective product that promises to play a major role in fight against malaria. I later on joined the Pasteur Institute, where I worked on a collaborative project with the Eastern Mediterranean health Genomics and Biotechnology Network (EMHGBN) as part of WHO/EMRO to expand the network throughout the region. I received my BSc in Biotechnology from UCL in 2008 and continued my studies towards a Masters degree in Nanotechnology & Regenerative Medicine at UCL Medical School Department of Surgery. During my Masters I worked on designing a nanostructured scaffold for Tissue Engineered Trachea. The scaffold was transplanted into patient as the world's first synthetic trachea transplant on 7th of July 2011 at Karolinska Institute in Stockholm, Sweden. Teaching is a passion for me and I enjoy helping others achieve the best of what they can be. I believe teaching is an art as much it is a combination of techniques both for student and teacher to interact, hence helping in transfer of a knowledge and most importantly a way of thinking.

Teaching Experience:

I have been tutoring in Biology, Chemistry and Maths all the way throughout my studies to individuals and groups.

Tutoring Approach:

Mostly depends on the tutees and their goal and how they best learn a subject. The value of hard work cannot be underestimated though and I expect the highest from my students. I am very creative in my approach and open to suggestions by tutees and parents. There are certain methods that has been proved to work but I believe every person is different and thus the approach should be different. I'd like to spend the first half hour of my first session to get to know the student, find out what are their needs and agree on the best method to proceed.
