Personal Description:
I am 32 years old and have been teaching for the last 11 years. I live in the centre of Winchester and work in a local school. I live with my husband, 2 year old son and 2 cats.

Teaching Experience:

I have taught in London for the past 10 years, whilst there I worked in Year 1, 3 and 6. I now work in a school in Winchester and am in Year 6. I lead English across the school and help to prepare the Year 6 pupils for the new and challenging in SATs for reading, grammar and maths. Working in London i had a lot of experience of working with EAL children and SEN children.

Tutoring Approach:

When tutoring I try to make it practical and fun. I look at what the pupil struggles with and why they are struggling with it and then I try to overcome their issues. I try to make the learning as personal as possible. For preparation for SATs, I make sure they have access to a lot of past papers so that there are no questions that will throw them.

Personal Description:
Hi all, I'm Joanna, I'm 24-years-old and I am looking to do some mathematics and English language/literature tutoring over the summer months. Teaching and inspiring others to learn and excel is one my great passions.

I am currently studying Dramatic Writing at New York University on a full scholarship. I achieved a First Class undergraduate degree at the University of St Andrews, majoring in English literature and minoring in maths and psychology. I have A-levels in English literature (A*), History (A) and Maths (A*), from City of London School for Girls, which I attended on an English literature scholarship. I would ideally like to tutor kids aged 10-14 as well as older teens taking their GCSE's or A-levels and who need help with Maths or English literature.

Teaching Experience:

At school I mentored a 12-year-old girl in maths. We met for an hour once a week and I would show her step-by-step how to solve problems she'd struggled with in class or for homework, and then either make up similar questions or find them from her textbook and work through them with her very patiently. She began to like maths more, improved and gained confidence as the weeks went on.
Over my gap year I tutored a fifteen-year-old girl in maths, Spanish and English GCSE's, working through past papers and setting textbook exercises for homework.

Tutoring Approach:

I would make sure I knew the details of my tutees' school syllabuses and courses so I could cover all the topics and focus on my tutee's weaknesses and the areas that they feel less confident about. I would set them homework every week in these areas which would take them from 20 minutes to an hour depending on how much they need, and then I would go through it with them.
I'm very keen to help people improve and to help people enjoy Maths and English. I would make sure to explain everything very clearly, patiently and thoroughly, give useful study tips and techniques which might help with exams and make the experience as fun as possible.

Personal Description:
My name is Matthew and I am an experienced mathematics tutor up to GCSE Level. I hold a 2:1 degree in Engineering and a post graduate diploma in strategic Business Information Systems from University of East London. I hold a full CRB check which is available on request.

Teaching Experience:

I am presently working as a Mathematics cover teacher in one the community schools in London and I am very passionate about my subject. I got into teaching to make a different in young peoples lives and to help inspire young people towards further education. I have successfully tutored many GCSE students and their remarkable result speaks for itself. I Love challenges; one of which is to help students with special needs to achieve their best possible.

Tutoring Approach:

I undertakes a motivational approach to teaching. Experience has taught that most students lack confidence in their ability and often under rate what they already knew. I often start by assessing my students and creating a learning log of their strength and weakness. This enables me to set target and bench-marks on what we need to learn, how best we need to learn and how much we need to learn. However, I am very flexible, friendly and a realist.

Personal Description:
I am a graduate of Christ Church, Oxford University with a Master's Degree in Mathematics and Philosophy. I am also a fully qualified teacher of Mathematics, currently working at Highgate School, one of London's top independent schools.

Teaching Experience:

I qualified as a teacher in London through the Graduate Teacher Programme, and I am currently working as a teacher of Mathematics at Highgate School in North London.

I have been tutoring mathematics since leaving university, and have worked for clients in locations such as London, the South of France and Moscow. I have tutored students for various qualifications including GCSE, IGCSE, IB and A-level. I have also prepared students for 11+ and 13+ private school entrance exams, and for Oxbridge interviews. I have also taught English as a foreign language in South Korea.

Tutoring Approach:

I take an approach to maths which focusses on understanding, rather than rote learning. This gives students a more flexible approach, and allows them to apply their mathematical skills well to problem solving tasks. I encourage them to use their initiative and to be confident in working independently. I also focus on practising techniques for exam preparation. I aim to make my lessons enjoyable and to focus on areas that students find difficult. While mathematics is my primary subject, I may also be able to give students help in other subjects by arrangement.

Personal Description:
I am a graduate of The London School of Economics. I have obtained substantial professional experience in the contrasting environments of financial companies in South America and a UK technology company. I have completed an MSc at The Cranfield School of Management, whilst co-founding a new student society and pursuing multiple leadership roles. During the period November 2012 to June 2014 I studied advanced mathematics qualifications (equivalent to those taught at the London School of Economics), without a teacher and I greatly exceeded the average grade in nearly all of my examinations.

I have a highly developed ability of economics, mathematics and business and the patience and experience in communication to use that experience to help people to achieve real improvements in their ability and understanding.

References and academic articles can be supplied on request.

Teaching Experience:

I was the co-founder of the Cranfield School of Management Management Consulting Society, which entailed teaching a large number of students about interview skills and how to solve the example problems that they would be tested on during interviews (called case studies).

I prepared detailed lessons about case interview practice skills, with presentations and simulations of case study interviews and used patience and a detailed understanding of business, strategy and economics to help students pass their interviews. I received many complements from students, and the success of the society was such that I was able to recruit four new leaders to further develop the society in the current academic year.

I have held a volunteer leadership role for The St Luke's Hospice, a major charity that helps thousands of terminally ill people every year. I was responsible during 2013 and 2014 for the induction and training of new volunteers for one of the charity's largest ever fundraising partnerships (with the Meadowhall Shopping centre) and for managing many of its fundraising events.

I also have considerable experience teaching A-Level and GCSE maths and economics over the past years since December 2013.

Tutoring Approach:

I believe that it is crucial to impart a developed understanding of the subject to create solid foundations and then build question answering techniques on top of them. This will allow students to improve their confidence in tackling exam questions whilst building the enthusiasm and general problem solving abilities that they will need to be successful at university. I will certainly be living in the Derbyshire area until late September. I am willing to build long term teaching relationships in which the learning requirements of each student are understood and responded to, thus allowing their capabilities with the subject to be developed as quickly and as thoroughly as possible.

Personal Description:
I am a professional yet friendly individual who has a great zeal for education. I have obtained a PGCE in Secondary Science (Physics) and a B.Sc in Physics with Astrophysics (2.1). I have been tutoring for over 3 years. I enjoy learning as much as I like to share it.

Teaching Experience:

Over the past few years, I have worked in a variety of schools ranging from outstanding to special needs. I am working as a full time private tutor of Science and Maths and have taught students of different levels and different subjects including literacy and maths at key stage 2. I have also had some experience teaching for 11+ exam. I teach different exam boards at GCSEs and A level Physics, Chemistry and Maths.

Tutoring Approach:

The first (trial) lesson usually involves getting to know the student, his/her academic requirements, etc. Depending on the individual, I like to give them an assessment, which helps me judge what level the student is at. If the student is happy to proceed (98% success rate), we commence the lessons accordingly. My lessons generally include note making, teaching using notes/ powerpoint presentations, etc and students attempt questions based on the topic(s) covered. I like to give regular homework unless asked and mini-mocks/SATs/ tests are given as well to monitor their progress regularly. For young students, I like to keep in touch with the parents regarding their progress reports. I tailor my lessons to the needs of my students so that they make the most of their learning experience.

Personal Description:
I am a postgraduate (Lebanese/Brazilian) living in Edinburgh. I speak 4 languages and have worked as a professional private tutor in sciences/math abroad for more than 5 years where I had the chance to tutor more than 120 students in levels equivalent to GCSEs and A levels, as well as higher degrees university students. I have two masters degrees and currently undertaking my PhD. Given that most of my research is conducted off campus, I will be available for tutoring sessions throughout all of the week, at almost anytime of the day as I coordinate my research time around tuition sessions!

Teaching Experience:

With a vast experience with students of varying academic levels, I have grown a firm grasp of what tutees of various classes, ages, and intellectual levels need and what approach should be undertaken during progressive sessions, in accordance with how fast a tutee can learn. One's experience is a mere reflection of the knowledge one retains and subsequently passes on, and you would get to know me better once we meet. I almost always offer tutoring at homes as opposed to having the burden of travelling on the tutee. For more info on the subjects I offer please check my profile!

Tutoring Approach:

I will generally take the first meeting to get to know the learner and talk with them one on one about their needs and their perception of their needs. If the learner is a child I will then talk to their parents separately about their child`s needs and behavior toward learning and general attitude toward an academic environment. I take personalized care of each student of mine, tailoring each experience depending on the need. I will generally find supplementary material to work with the student in tutor time. Again, I will do this depending on the particular situation of the tutee. I will be there to help complete homework, provide additional less or more rigorous material, provide study skills, help study, provide writing skills and practice, language immersion, progress reports for parents and teachers for child tutees, and most importantly a constant helping and supportive contact for those in need of help at any time. I take great care of my students as a tutor and my unwavering goal is to help students grow and learn academically and personally and give them the tools to maintain these skills, be it through their next exam or their life. Tutoring and helping is my passion and my utilitarian approach to tutoring is varying based on each individual`s needs but is based upon unwavering and constant support.

Personal Description:
Hello there!
I'm a qualified teacher with over 10 years experience in the primary sector.
I live with my partner and our 2 children in a converted church in Wrexham, a project we undertook ourselves and completed last year.
With that in mind I consider myself to be a very practical person able to do most DIY jobs - something that I am well known for within my work place and amongst friends. If it breaks- call Hayley!
I have a positive outlook on life and this is reflected in my teaching.
I'm also a very patient and understanding person and I hope that these qualities make me a good parent, friend and teacher.

Teaching Experience:

I have over 10 years experience in the primary sector working mostly with key stage 2 children.
I currently work full time as a year 3 teacher and so offer my children learning experiences in all primary curriculum subjects.
I am responsible for the science curriculum within my school and It is my job to ensure continuity and progression across the board in this subject.
I have worked with children from all different backgrounds and with varied abilities.
I can effectively educate children with varying needs including behavioural and emotional difficulties, SEN children , EAL children and MAT children.
Within my current class of 28 children I have 10 EAL children inc 3 non speakers , 3 SEN and 3 MAT. These children come from all walks of life and I have been effectively educating children like this for over 10 years.

Tutoring Approach:

I have a positive approach to life and to tutoring. I am well aware that some children will be reluctant to receive additional help and some children will absolutely relish it! The approach your child receives will depend entirely on their reaction to me tutoring them. Everyone is different and once the relationship between myself- the tutor and your child- the student is established then we can have a productive learning experience each session.
I am able to provide a varied approach- hands on work, mental work, written work depending on what the student requires.
I am very familiar with the end of key stage requirements and will be able to cater lessons to ensure we achieve a realistic outcome and see genuine improvements within the subject area being taught.
I will aim to make the sessions enjoyable as that's the best way to learn and I will be more than happy to offer any additional guidance you as a parent may need in helping your child even more.

Personal Description:
Hello everyone, my name is Ryo, a Japanese native.
I have studied to degree level at Keio University, a well-established private university and regarded as one of the best universities in Japan.
I am a very dedicated and motivated individual and remain focused on the tasks at hand.
My lecturing methods are simple and clear, by discussing the topics that interest the student and afterwards, assessing their level and developing a plan from the discussion. I can also, if requested, check the development of reading/writing skills and suggest and explain better alternatives.
I can offer tutoring lessons through Skype and in person and can keep in touch through various forms of social media including Whatsapp.

Japanese ; I have tutored exchange students in Japanese in Keio Univeristy, and some of them have passed JLPT 1 level.

Maths ; At school I exceled at Maths and at one exam, my scores of maths stood at approximately 280 ranks. I can teach how to solve maths but notably I like to teach all aspects of maths and given solutions with helpful, easy to follow answers.

Please feel free to contact me.

Teaching Experience:

I tutored exchange and Japanese students for a total of three years.
Japanese ; I taught Japanese with exchange students mostly from Keio University. As written above, some of them passed JLPT 1 level ( Japanese Language Proficiency Test ) which involves reading, writing, speaking and listening.

Maths ; In Japan, I normally taught maths and their maths scores developed greatly as long as they did the homework to help their understanding of each new chapter and approach.

Tutoring Approach:

Japanese ; quite simple. To discuss enhancing colloquial ability and more sophisticated lexicals through diffucult topics , for example, politics and economics. In fact, that is what I did with some exchange students, for exmample someone I tutored vocabulary got better than some Japanese nationals'.
My motto is fun to learn because you cannot keep learning if it's not fun.

Maths ; working out one interesting question then explain some basic ways of solutions and their reasons , and suggest additional or imaginable solutions. Maths is not mysterious but mysteriously beautiful.
