Personal Description:
I have been told that I am a passionate, encouraging and dedicated tutor.

"Edward helped both me and my daughter with Maths tuition this year, for GCSE higher level and IGCSE respectively. We both made excellent progress and grew in confidence with help and encouragement from Ed, who combines an easygoing manner with an extremely serious and professional approach to teaching his subject. Ed is able to get right to the heart of a student's confusion very quickly and to give clear and well-illustrated explanations. I couldn't recommend Ed more highly."

I hold a 1st Class degree (Bsc) in Mathematics from Durham University and have been tutoring full-time since September 08.

I usually hold tutorials at my home in Brighton (please see contact details) but do occasionally travel to the student's house.

Personal Description:
Compassionate and hardworking, I am a francophone who speaks fluent English. My subject knowledge is Maths but I am able to teach French up to GCSE level. My qualifications were garnered from "itinerant studies": O level in Côte D'Ivoire (Ivory Coast), Maths and Sciences A levels in France and in the UK: a Diploma in Computing, a Bachelor of Science and a Postgraduate Certificate in Mathematics.

Varied places and work experiences along with different cultures have conferred on me such transferable skills as: compassion, the ability to pay attention to details and to adapt to new situations with ease.

Teaching Experience:

I started 8 years ago as a private tutor whilst holding a position of student-teacher in a secondary school. I also volunteer as Numeracy Coach for a charity.

Tutoring Approach:

It depends on the student's goal and their availability. However, no matter the requirements, I work with the student not only to identify their barriers and help them to develop the confidence they need to move forward but also to improve their acquired techniques if there is room to do so.

During a revision session, a series of exercises or past exam papers will be means of assessment to ascertain and sharpen my students' abilities. When it comes to long term tuition, formative, diagnostic and summative assessments are used to find out what the student knows, identify gaps between their knowledge and understanding and scaffold the development of their understanding to enable them to close the gap between what they currently know and their current learning goals.

Personal Description:
I am a PhD student at the School of Education in the University of Manchester. Regarding my personality, I am a very easy going person, kindly and also with a high sense of responsibility. I have been here more than three years. I have stayed in places covered students of all creeds and ethnic backgrounds, and I am being socialized with course mates, tutors and other friends, so they gave me chances to be familiar with international culture and quite appreciate living in a place with multi-culture background people and have been benefited from such diversities.

Teaching Experience:

I really like teaching. I am currently teaching Mandarin to adults in Cactus Language Training and both my students and I myself enjoy lessons. I used to teach non native speakers' Mandarin in China, which was really of fun. When I am studying in the UK, I have become a private tutor since 2012. I have taught mandarin to quite a few students (aged 15-55) . I have tried to create a comfortable conversation, and i have to see almost my students enjoyed it very much. I am very appreciated that some of my students have come back to me to improve their Mandarin in a higher level. I really like children. I have become a RocketWorld volunteer 2011 organized by International Society of the University of Manchester and visited primary schools in Great Manchester to help promote international peace and friendship.

Tutoring Approach:

I take all efforts to create a free conversation, which I think good atmosphere is very important to learn language and to encourage learners' speaking . Lessons will be prepared. There will be some prepared funny stories or other material to make fun. So you can learn mandarin and have fun here!
My understanding of a good teacher is to be responsible of and to meet students' needs. My working experiences and my academic study have ascertained my belief that it is essential to teach the students in front of you rather than the test. So I endeavor to be a best listener and observer to identify problems occurring during the lessons and to work out the solution and to develop your potential at maximum.
So if you feel a bit struggling with or tired of learning Mandarin on your own, I would encourage you to come to me and work together to achieve your goal more efficiently.

It's all about getting the students passionate about what they're learning. Personal Description:
I was born in Sheffield in 1975. After moving to Peterborough, I spent most of my school years as a day pupil at Laxton School, Oundle, during which time my main enjoyment came from sport and music. I studied Natural Sciences at Clare College, Cambridge, specialising in chemistry, the fourth year of which involved an organic synthesis as part of research by the Goodman group.

Since 2002 I have lived in Exeter, working in a variety of contexts including IT, chemistry teaching and advice work for Age Concern. During 2008-9 I completed a PGCE at Exeter University, which involved teaching 16-18 yr olds and adults in IT and chemistry at Exeter College. Since then I have taught chemistry, IT and maths at Exeter College and privately.

Teaching Experience:

Teaching Experience:

Chemistry, ICT and maths teaching at Exeter College (2008-present)

Chemistry teacher at Mander Portman Woodward 5th & 6th form college, Cambridge.(1999-2000)

Chemistry tutor in Cambridge, London and Exeter(1999-present)

Tutoring Approach:

Approach to Tutoring:

My aim is to provide students with as much help as possible when preparing for their exams. This may take the form of:

Homework
Past paper questions
Revision of important topics
Helping with anything that the student wants to go through

Lessons are student orientated. If someone says, "I'm having trouble with these homework questions", then we get on with that topic. A lesson may involve going through questions, understanding notes or doing revision.

I can cover most of the current syllabuses including EdExcel, OCR, AQA and Nuffield.

Initially I recommend students bring along all their notes and textbooks. Then we can work out which are the good ones!

I encourage good study skills, revision skills and exam technique, and can set and mark homework if and when required.

4th year medical student. At Barts and the London school of medicine (Queen Mary university of London)
Also studying biomedical engineering at Imperial. (It`s a trial Imperial is trying with me as they were satisfied with my qualifications)

hold international Olympiad certificates for Math, Physics, and chemistry, and have received gold, silver, silver in them respectively

AS , A2 Math, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Persian All "A"s
AS Economics A

Teaching Experience:

Have taught Math, Physics, Chemistry, Biology locally at AS and A2 Level.
Unfortunately this website doesn't allow me to link you to those whom i have taught. but i could get you in touch with them if you like to see how satisfied they are and to prove to you the managed to get an A quite easily.
Can teach further at biology as I am a medic.
Have taught English as well

Tutoring Approach:

I prefer making the student understand the concepts. Which is not something tutors do anymore.
I don't just make them memorize. you'd be surprised how much more you can retain when you understand the underlying concept.
If you forget something or a formula, you can work it out from what i have taught you.
it is an approach that all of my tutees have loved so far, and they all come back for the following years. haven't had a single tutee who hasn't been extremely satisfied and all of them were of course happy with the A grades they achieved.

Personal Description:
At Birmingham University I obtained a first class degree in mathematics and went on to qualify as a chartered accountant. It was my desire to learn Spanish that originally made me move to Andalucía in the south of Spain ten years ago. With full immersion in the language, I soon became fluent in Spanish. In order to be with my wife, I moved to Guatemala, where I took the opportunity for a career change in the local village school. I realised that teaching gave a much higher job satisfaction and was much more suited to my lively, upbeat manner.

Teaching Experience:

After some teacher training I found a job as a maths teacher in an international bilingual school called Atitlán Multicultural Academy. I went on to become the headmaster of the school for three years. Monitoring and assessing other teachers gave me a great insight into different styles. After the birth of my daughter I wanted to travel less so I started giving Spanish and maths lessons via skype. This video conferencing tool means I can give classes face to face to students in the comfort of their own home.

Tutoring Approach:

My Spanish lesson plans are based completely on the student's objectives and learning styles. Most of my present students want to learn conversational Spanish, so I concentrate more on the oral skills of speaking and listening. However, I always try and cover the grammatical points in a clear systematic way, ensuring the student does not get demotivated with the more technical side. The most important for me is that learning is fun, and clear advancements are made in each class.

The maths lessons deal with the specific problems of the students to aid understanding in areas that they did not fully pick up in school. I specialise in exam preparation for GCSE, AS level and A level. The students are made to analyse the question, break down the requirements and give structure to their answers whilst making notes on the steps which they found difficult.

Personal Description:
I am a 21 year-old undergraduate student in the University of Birmingham, following a degree in mathematics.

Teaching Experience:

In 2010-2012 I was the initiator of a volunteer project called 'Fairy tales in Pictures'. The project involved working, communicating and interacting with children with learning difficulties, playing games with them and teaching them to tackle different tasks. This was an opportunity to develop my communication and listening skills regarding various kinds of people, becoming extremely aware of the difficulties children can have with learning and understanding new things, and how these difficulties can be tackled.
I have helped my 11-year-old sister with her maths and English language-related lessons over the years. This has helped me understand children better and sense when they are in need for more training and explanation in particular areas. I have also helped friends' children with their problems, offering help, guidance and advice.

Tutoring Approach:

The key method to learning mathematics is by solving problems and dealing with examples. My approach is to give a clear explanation on the theory and then focus on different types of examples to help children understand things through practice. After several examples, I encourage children to attempt problems themselves at first, then ask questions and give small hints, guiding the child to obtain the correct answer as independently as possible. I give homework for children to practice their newly acquired knowledge, and I check if they've done the homework correctly on the next lesson.

Personal Description:
I am a multilingual ex-City consultant with degrees in Physics and Environmental Economics.
I tutor Maths, Physics, Science and languages (French, German, Spanish, Latin). I am a very patient tutor who understands very well the challenges of learning.

Teaching Experience:

I have one-to-one experience in tutoring Maths, Physics, French and Latin. Most of my experience is from my engagement with a south London initiative called GCSE success.

Tutoring Approach:

I am a very patient tutor who values getting the 'basics right' before building on that knowledge. I am very flexible and adaptable depending on the pupil's aptitude and interest in the subject. I tend to use visual aids for Maths and Physics tutoring with very positive results. For languages I also use teaching and memory methods in order to help the pupil progress rapidly with visible results.

Personal Description:
I have an MSc in Economics from the London School of Economics, and a First Class BSc in Economics from the University of Warwick. I am bilingual in French and English, and speak conversational mandarin as I grew up in Singapore. I can tutor for different school systems (A levels, French Baccalaureate etc.).

I am currently working at an e-commerce start-up.

Teaching Experience:

I tutored most subjects (but mostly Maths and French) during my gap year before starting university. I had 8 students, aged 6 to 17, from the French School in Singapore. My students improved their grades as a result of my tutoring, and I received very positive feedback from their parents.

Tutoring Approach:

For Maths & Economics: I believe in teaching students how to approach problems and work through them. My aim is for my students to improve their learning methods and independent thinking. I am very patient and encourage my students to figure problems out on their own - I only point them in the right direction.

For French: Having learned a language myself (Chinese), I am in a good position to tutor a language. My aim is to improve my students' work habits and learning methods. I am bilingual in French and English, and hence I am able to explain language nuances well.

Personal Description:
Singaporean who just arrived in UK after several months in Europe. Love to learn and share experiences with others. I am easy going and someone who walks the talk. I am currently learning french myself!

Teaching Experience:

With China's ever increasing importance in the new world order there's no better time to start learning Mandarin, and with my customized methods it would make learning easier and enjoyable.

I have helped students impove their grades and in one case from a fail to grade 1.

Tutoring Approach:

I would be teaching you personally on a one to one basis, I can customise the material covered to your specific needs meaning you learn exactly what is right for you.
