Personal Description:

I have a Psychology degree (2.1) and I have successfully passed graduate teacher in a Primary Academy in North London (PGCE). I have been a member of UK Tutors since 2008 and have tutored around 20 children and young adults since. I've had voluntary work experience working as a teaching assistant for children aged between 3 and 4. I've also had experience working with a year 6 class who were due to take their year 6 SATS test. In this role I helped those who were finding certain aspects of their lessons hard; I helped those with special needs and I also offered extra guidance to those who were confident with their upcoming tests. I've also been a mentor to secondary school students aged 13-15. I offered help for all sorts of problems - whether it was to do with trouble with their social life or trouble with understanding things in lessons. No matter what the problem was, they had my full attention and I like to believe that I always successfully helped them.

2013:
I have currently passed the Qualified Teacher Skills (QTS) test in English and Maths and I am now a Graduate Teacher working in Year 2. I am knowledgeable about the curriculum and what the children need to achieve to reach certain levels. I am currently focusing on the Year 2 upcoming SATS.

I am fully trained in MMS (Maths Made Sense) which is a new and revolutionary way to teach children maths - the results are incredible. This approach makes dividing, multiplying, adding and subtracting easy for the children to understand as well as making the lessons fast-paced and fun.

I am also fully trained in RWI (Read, Write, Inc) which is a fantastic phonics scheme for children. By the use of special techniques and layouts of work children are able to progress fast through the phonics scheme - ensuring they fully know how to read and write all their sounds! Many schools are starting to show interest in this scheme as the results are fantastic, I have been lucky enough to be working in a school that has been using this scheme for many years now.

I receive termly training on both MMS and RWI to keep me up to date with the newest techniques to help children succeed.

I work with a broad range of children - from those suffering with learning disabilities, those with English as a second language and gifted and talented children. I work with 3 year olds through to 11 year olds. I also tutor English and Maths up to GCSE level.

Tutoring Approach:

I am currently tutoring 8 people - from children needing to boost their grades for their Year 2 SATS to teenagers and adults brushing up on their A-Level Psychology. I also tutor a few children who have learning difficulties - the focus of the sessions revolve around confidence building, acquisition of knowledge, recognition of numbers/letters and helping children to write through working on their hand motor skills.

I have a kind, warm and friendly approach to teaching and helping. I will always be understanding, and never will be patronising. I believe that people are not scared to approach me when they need help. People will have my full attention and I will help to my fullest extent.

I have over 14 years of teaching experience in business studies at the Open University teaching at both undergraduate and post graduate levels. Tutoring Approach:

I take a mentoring and nurturing approach to teaching. I prepare students both at GCSE and A Levels to sit examinations by the three main examining boards in England, namely, Aqa, OCR and Edexcel. I prefer to tutor from home and only take on a very limited number of students so that I can give my full attention to their examination success. I have tutored students who have been deemed not to be high achievers by their schools, but have subsequently gone on to gaining A grades at GCSE. I am highly motivated and nothing gives me greater pleasure than to get letters from students thanking me for helping them to gain examination success. I tutor from home as I have found students perform best in this situation and I also have access to all my teaching resources as necessary to tailor each lesson to suit a particular students needs. Although I feel tutoring from my home is a good approach I am prepared to travel to a student's home but will of course need to charge travel costs.

Teaching Experience:

I started tutoring GCSE maths in Year 13, providing a very structured learning by my school. The students engaged well and it helped to have people of a similar age that the students could relate to, enabling a more relaxed learning atmosphere. I have also informally helped peers of various levels whilst at university, maths students but also engineering and foundation levels. When my services were required in a particular area, then they asked for help on short notice. I am now enjoying tutoring whilst learning a postgraduate Masters course.

Tutoring Approach:

Can look at casual tutoring of areas of difficulty, or can do more structured learning of a curriculum, either intense learning or weekly troubleshooting.

The first meeting will be free with the aim of getting to know one another and the strengths and weaknesses of the tutee. At which point a structured plan of action can be drawn up. In some cases the tutee may lack the confidence in areas, but can in fact do what's required. Even a casual troubleshooting session every now and then can set their worries at rest.

Should extracurricular material be required or wanted then I'll be happy to provide. This material might not be hard for the tutee, but will help link in various areas of mathematics and will require a little thought about the patterns seen. Maths is a series of patterns, the quicker you can see them the faster it will be to understand something that's never been covered before.

I currently have access to a car, but only in the evenings, and prices are based on travel being less than a couple of miles. I'm willing to travel further if needed though.

Hello! I am an intelligent, well-educated young woman studying English Literature at the university of Sussex. I have completed my first year - so far having acheived a 2:1 - and did exceptionally well at A level and GCSEs. I attended one of the highest acheiving schools in the country, King Edward VI Grammar School for Girls, and genuinely enjoy education, both learning and teaching.

Teaching Experience:

I have tutored my younger brother for years in all school subjects, and also his classmates. Until now I have been too young to work for a tutoring organisation - I am 19, but assure you that I have all the skills necessary to help your child acheive their goals. I have also been self employed as a babysitter, with experience with children from new-born to 15, and so have plenty of knowledge of how children are best communicated with and urged to do their best. I was a mentor in my secondary school for pupils of GCSE age in English and French, which meant I spent two hours a week with the girls struggling - my tuition led them to acheive A and A* grades respectively.

Tutoring Approach:

I am a very relaxed, laid-back person, so my natural tutoring style reflects this. I see no help in pushing a child too hard or fast, which will only make them more resistant to the subject they are already struggling with. Particularly for primary age children, I would try to make the session fun, including games alongside traditional teaching. I am happy, though, to be lead by you in my approach to your child, as you clearly know them best. In all my tutoring experience so far, however, I have seen wonderful results.

Tutoring Approach:

It's difficult to establish one certain approach to tutoring, as I believe every tutoring method must be unique to the pupil. Having said that, I strive to achieve a relaxed and informal way to teaching, making the pupil feel relaxed and calm about the lesson.

During the first contact, I will establish what the pupil does not understand in the subject and I will understand better how I can explain the problem. Drawing on my own education experience, I will work through the problem together with the pupil, and letting the pupil come to his own solution. I believe that only this way, will the pupil understand that he has truly achieved this, rather than the tutor explaining it from A to B,

Personal Description:
I am a young spanish guy living in London, i came to this city to improve my English because im studying to be a teacher (English specialty). Its a 4 years degree in the International University of La Rioja (Spain) and i complement my studies working part-time in a famous clothing store.
Five years ago i finished my Economics degree (4 years) in University of La Corua (Spain) and also i did a course about Stock Market Analysis in University of La Corua. My name is Darryl and I graduated from The University of Southampton in June 2013 with a degree in Economics and Actuarial Science (A very Statistical and Mathematical based subject). I started teaching Primary school and GCSE students whilst I was in my final year in sixth form, I then went on to teach A-level students whilst I was at University. Throughout those years my proudest achievement has been motivating my students and changing their attitudes towards studying and school. Aim is to help student learn how they understand instruction so that they are more confident in their own abilities and can perform better in the future.
Use past work to improve on future work.

Learning should be fun and I strive to make the tutoring experience less about school work and more about understanding the ways in which what is being taught is of interest to the student. Finding ways to improve the student's understanding and learning experience sometimes means approaching the material in a different way than is being taught in class. Teachers understand that not all student learn the same way but cannot always deliver their teaching in all these ways. By helping the student understand the material first and then explaining the method the teacher used to explain it first allows the student to reach their full potential, understand the material, and go back to class with a better chance following the teacher's instruction.

All of this is done in a light-mannered way that does not make the child feel as though tutoring is a punishment for not understanding in class, but rather, a (sometimes lengthy) temporary situation until the student becomes more confident about his or her own skills!

Using the student's own work is an important tool for helping them recognize their own areas of difficulty and should be used again as mock exams to help the student see tangible proof of their improvements. The best understanding of any subject comes from watching it being done/having it explained, doing it oneself, and then teaching it in turn.
