Personal Description:
I am a 32 year old tutor based in south east London. For the past twelve years I have been teaching pupils of all ages and abilities in many different capacities and have an excellent success rate with my pupils.

I also work with children with behavioural difficulties/learning disabilities and with adults of all ages and nationalities.

Should you wish to use me, you would encounter a tutor easy to relate to and learn from in an enjoyable and easy environment. I believe a student who is abler ease with their tutor is far more likely to progress no matter where they are starting from!

I hope very much to hear from you soon.

Teaching Experience:

St Bees School 1998-present: Various unpaid voluntary work. Drama work-shop leader on summer-camp. Directing, play-writing, and work-shopping school Junior & Senior plays
2002: Clementine School, Hong Kong EFL Teaching Assistant. Assisting head English language teacher
2002: Hong Kong Institute for young offenders. Spanish Teacher. Teaching basic Spanish to young non English speaking offenders prior to their exchange to Chile
2005-2006: Private Tuition (Ashtead, Surrey) Private tutor. Various pupils for Spanish, English Literature, Drama & English language
2006-Present: Southwark Council. Supply Teaching with 'Classroom' agency. Work with children from mainstream, secondary & primary PRUs and learning difficulty schools.
Private Tuition (Paddington) Private tutor
Government-funded scheme to increase literacy levels amongst primary school pupils
2006-Present: Private Tuition in in all subjects and age ranges offered throughout London.

Tutoring Approach:

I believe one to one private tuition requires a tutor who can adapt to the needs of the pupil.

I would wish to meet the pupil initially to establish how they may best be assisted and what the pupil's key areas of concern are.

In short, each mind, young or old, needs different approaches and I believe my strongest ability is an adaptability to meet the varying needs and requirements of every student.

My approach, in most cases would be to follow a curriculum, finding out where their difficulties lie within this curriculum and how it would be best to resolve them.

I tend to use past papers when it comes to exam based tuition as this is ultimately what they will be faced with come exam time! However, when I have a pupil for longer there is more scope for more imaginative teaching or simply assistance with difficult homework.

With each of my previous pupils I have needed and been able to assist them in a way that is individually appealing to them and I have never had a pupil who has not achieved their desired results.

Personal Description:
I am a young actor living in London. I also write and direct poetry, plays and films. As my father was a Diplomat I spent much of my early life abroad: in Cuba, Hungary and the United States.

After studying Maths, English and Russian at Eton College I spent a year studying acting in New York and cooking in an English restaurant, then studied English and Drama at Bristol and have just finished a BA in Acting at LAMDA. When I'm not writing or in the theatre I'm in the kitchen experimenting.

Teaching Experience:

I have tutored several students over the past two years in London. I have helped with English A-Level papers for a boy who got an A grade and will start at Bristol this autumn. I also taught essay-writing and exam technique to a girl who will be starting medicine at Cambridge this autumn.

I also have a lot of experience with learning difficulties as I have helped my younger brother all his studying life through his asperger's and dyslexia.

Tutoring Approach:

My inspiration to work in the arts always came from the books, films, artists and languages I studied at school and at university so I have a great amount of passion and interest in what I teach.

I believe this is very much the most important lesson for any new student to learn: a personal enjoyment and motivation for the subject. Exams are everywhere these days but it is important to remember that an exam is only a method for determining how much you know and if you can find yourself genuinely excited and eager to discuss what you know you are half-way to passing that exam.

Personal Description:
I am a 27 year-old prize-winning Masters graduate in Mathematics from Oxford University, and I also hold Top Candidate Notifications from AQA for my performances in A-level maths and further maths, and another such notification from AQA for my performance in GCSE Statistics. I am in my fifth year of tutoring full-time.

I offer tuition in mathematics at each of the following levels: KS3/GCSE/AS/A2/AEA/Oxford Entrance Exam/Oxbridge Interview Practice/STEP. I have a recent CRB Enhanced Disclosure.

Teaching Experience:

I have four full years experience as a full-time private tutor. My role addresses the pitfalls of a mainstream education by truly individualising it, and is perfected through thousands of hours of experience of striving to achieve precisely that. My thirst for knowledge has allowed me to develop a true understanding of mathematical concepts: I have frequently played the role of the consultant throughout my mathematical career, have been able to help my peers and students avoid the pitfalls usually associated with difficult ideas and am able to explain things from numerous angles.

Tutoring Approach:

Traversing the mathematical landscape is an art; it can be a very uncomfortable environment for some. I find it so important to make my students feel at ease and to find confidence in their maths and so important to be friendly and patient. I am not a suited, booted assessor, nor old-school, to be frank! The feedback I've received indicates that I am very successful in creating a supportive atmosphere that encourages discussion, openness and good effort.

As well as engaging with students in this manner, my aim as a maths tutor is to get my students to 'think mathematically'; to uncover the inherent simplicity in methods and concepts and to truly understand what is being worked with. It is my business to focus thought, prevent confusion and stimulate the development of good ideas. I employ illuminating explanations and navigate sticking points, and as a result maths should be considerably easier to handle under my guidance.

As well as offering support for those with difficulties or specific grade aspirations at standard levels, I can also challenge the very able as intensely as they could hope for, introducing them to the mindset, rigour and practise required for the more challenging AEA and STEP papers. At university I was lucky enough to find myself one to whom others turned with maths troubles: I have been depended on to explain advanced maths effectively for years. I am sure this accounts for two more areas of particularly positive feedback I've received as a tutor: in explaining concepts and in effectively dealing with problems as they arise.

I provide tuition either at my home in central Cheltenham, or at the homes of students within a 30-mile radius of it (dependent on particular location).

I am here to provide a complete teaching experience that in addition to ironing out difficulties and providing excellent exam preparation as matter of course, at no extra effort on the part of the student introduces them to the thought processes and insights of the professional mathematician. I have the STRONGEST sense of duty of care to my students and want every one who I work with to exceed their own expectations and the expectations of others and to walk away feeling truly proud of their achievements.

Personal Description:
I am a friendly and approachable maths tutor based in Cupar and happy to travel around Fife and Dundee. I am patient and understanding and love to work with my students to help them get the results they deserve. Personal Description:
My first teaching job was in Kenya when I was 19, and since then I have taught English in Mexico, Brazil, Japan and England. My students have ranged from 4 to 94, and from beginners to doctors and academic researchers, focusing on conversation, business, or exams, depending on the student's needs.

I have a passion for language, whether listening to strangers on the bus or exploring grammatical structures, and my students pick up my enthusiasm and enjoyment.

I have written a book on psychology, linguistics and science, edited children's books and academic texts, and worked as a translator of both Portuguese and Japanese.

My BSc is in Life Sciences with the History and Philosophy of Science and Medicine, and I am interested in nearly everything, except football and cars.

Teaching Experience:

2010-present: ESL teacher, language coach for academics, and private tutor to Japanese kids.

2006-2010: Private English tutor (in MG, Brazil).

2001-2005: High School teacher and private tutor (in Kyoto, Japan)
1999-2001: Elementary and Junior High School English teacher, also special needs class (in Fukushima, Japan).

1997: Teacher for tortillas and lodging in the jungle (in Chiapas, Mexico)

1995: Volunteer school teacher of English, Science & Maths (in rural Kenya)

Tutoring Approach:

I use only English in my lessons, encouraging my students to speak as much as possible, and to correct their own or each other's errors wherever possible.

My emphasis is on fluency, natural language and confidence, so when teaching grammar or considering problems, the student can refer to concrete examples in their heads, rather than abstract formulae in textbooks.

I use a broad range of materials, techniques, and situations, setting high standards and pushing my students to work hard towards accuracy and creativity in English.

Though I am happy teaching one-to-one, I find that a group of two to four students can be more dynamic, more relaxed, and a better environment for free expression and mutual correction. If you agree, I might invite you to join a class of students at a similar level, which makes the lesson much more economical for you.

Personal Description:
Hello there, this is Clair here, I`m 24 and am currently undertaking a chemical research PHD in the field of materials chemistry at UCL. I graduated from my undergraduate Chemistry degree at UCL and prior to this I lived in Portsmouth having moved there from Malaysia when I was 13. This coming September I am in line to be secretary of the Chemical and Physical Society, UCL's oldest society.

Aside from Chemistry I am also like running, taking photographs, going to see art, films, music and learning more about the world around me e.g. economics, politics and sociology.

Teaching Experience:

In recent years I have been in junior schools working with children during their science practicals. I have also had regular work tutoring one to one and small groups of KS3-GCSE students and have also been called in to help particular A-level/BTEC science classes. At university I mentor to undergraduate students.

Tutoring Approach:

During our tutoring session we'll do the normal thing of going through past papers but also work hard at actual understanding of the concepts. With me you will be able to understand and enjoy complex scientific and mathematical ideas and consequently get the grades you want and deserve. Hopefully we can work together to make this happen.

Personal Description:
I am currently a maths undergraduate at UCL. I am a highly intelligent, enthusiastic and committed individual, and I have a passion for teaching while seeing the progress of my students. I believe every student can achieve the top grades by the right methods of teaching which I have, and I always try my best helping the students to reach their maximum potential.

Teaching Experience:

I have voluntarily helped running the weekly maths club of the lower school when I was in sixth form, and run weekly mandarin lessons.

Also currently I am also tutoring a group of 11+ students maths and science at a Saturday school. I plan the material of lessons, set and mark the homework and set regular tests to monitor the group progress.

Tutoring Approach:

I have a different approach depending on the need and individual case of the student. And I do care about my student's wellbeing of learning because I am a student myself. Generally I would love to trigger the interest of my students, make the knowledge fun to learn; also I try to build a general picture of how different topics link together and sometimes I like to challenge my students to an upper level, so they can do better at exams.

Personal Description:
I am a qualified teacher, with over 12 years experience in both post 16 and mainstream education. My position prior to that, was that of Programme Area Manager, at a 6th Form College in North London.
As such, the development of students is at the heart of everything I do, and my aim is to always to help them to achieve their goals, build their self confidence, and develop the essential skills to help them become successful and well rounded adults. Having worked in a number of schools and colleges, with a variety of challenging students of all ages and abilities, I recognised that every child needs a different approach to their learning, as each has specific learning needs. My role over the years has been to provide the necessary support and guidance to each individual student according to his or her needs.
Being also a semi-professional musician and teacher of music and Music Technology, I have a very good understanding of both the creative as well as the more academic type of student, and have developed strategies to be able to support and develop all students.

Teaching Experience:

I began teaching at Primary level, coaching in various North London Schools. From their I went on to teach young persons and adults at a College in Essex, and did this for 6 years before taking a role as programme area manager at a a North London College. I have had many supply teaching roles in colleges and secondary education, and I am currently working as a freelance teaching for a North London Academy, and a Private organisation in East London.

Tutoring Approach:

My approach is to instil, build and develop self confidence, and belief, and also to make sessions fun and enjoyable, using a variety of hands on practical activities, and teaching methods, so the students develop a genuine love and desire for the subject. With my teaching methods, which is very much more of a coaching model, students make progress rapidly, and achieve their goals and aims, and leave sessions feeling fulfilled and feeling that they have accomplished something substantial. Most cant wait for the next session.

Personal Description:
I am a very charismatic individual with a broad spectrum of interests and pursuits and I get a real buzz out of teaching and helping others with my maths. With my PhD out of the way, I'm now in the process of discovering my strengths and hopefully building on the confidence to find myself a career in education.

Whilst I was studying I enjoyed taking part in student-run seminars and international conferences and I hope to fulfill my love of travelling in the future. I have been a member of various student societies and enjoy singing and dancing in my spare time.

Teaching Experience:

I have been involved in demonstrating and marking schemes at three different universities in the UK for over five years. In each case my jobs were the same: finding ways to get the student started on maths problems (without giving away the solution!), getting people to work in small groups so that everyone is involved (without feeling in the spotlight) and also marking and providing helpful feedback.

In fact, I enjoy teaching so much that I started when I was still an undergraduate myself. My university offered a scheme where we could run our own tutorials and an important part of this was encouraging people to write emails if they missed something or got stuck.

Tutoring Approach:

My approach to tutoring so far has very much depended on the student, as I think there is definitely a happy medium between putting the effort in to succeed in exams and working for too long. I think it is important to vary the material quite frequently and, in some cases, the location to keep the meetings fresh and enjoyable. I have tutored in different places including libraries and coffee shops.

One thing I've learnt from giving one-to-one tuitions is that it can be as important to unlearn bad habits as well as learn good ones. I think it is very important to see how people absorb material and prepare for exams.

I believe I am there to inspire confidence, for example to find unfamiliar maths questions less intimidating, but I think finding that confidence varies a lot from person to person. I hope that I am able to discern the times in which people are finding it difficult to learn and can be a friendly and personal support as well as explaining mathematical ideas.

Personal Description:
I am a Undergraduate student pursuing Economics. I have successfully completed my GCSEs ranging from all A*-B . I have recently completed my A-levels which also range from A*-B in History, Maths, Economics and Philosophy.

Currently I have started my own home business specialising in fashion retail after gaining my experience from working with a big fashion retailer for a year.

I am really enthusiastic about studies and strive for perfection in all the responsibilities which are handed to me. I enjoy working with young people and understand that organisation is key alongside adaptation to meet each tutees needs.

Teaching Experience:

I have previously worked in Emberhurst School based in Esher as a voluntary teachers assistant for 6 months and have worked with children of various ages. This has allowed me to understand the patience and the attitude needed to handle many suitations. This has grown my confidence in my ability to tutor and work with young people.

I have been involved in many roles such as a Peer Mediator in secondary school where I dealt with children in the age range of 10-12 in order to help them settle in. Additionally I have also taken on the role of a Student Ambassador where I communicated effectively with parents which helped me understand what they want for their children.

Tutoring Approach:

I understand that tutoring requires for the tutor to have confidence in their tutee as well as understanding that no two flowers blossom the same way; neither do two children learn in the same way. Therefore I believe that one to one tutoring should always be tailored in order to understand the tutees strengths and weaknesses.

As a student I know what is required for exam success and want to boost anyone I can help, to achieve it. This will involve regular assignments and homework as practice is needed to develop the tutees skills.

Furthermore receiving regular feedback for parents as well as tutees is vital in order to keep track of progress as well as understanding what stage the tutee is on. I am available to work any time until September then September onwards I would be only offering weekend tutoring.

FEEDBACK RECEIVED:

Sarah (Primary Maths): "My daughter is really enjoying her maths tutoring & although me have only had two sessions so far it is all going very well.Sonali has a lovely calming manner & friendly personality which is just what I wanted.I feel I have found the right person to help my daughter progress in maths."

"Sonali is an excellent tutor. My daughter is very happy with her and so am I. She is the perfect tutor and I'm glad I made the right choice." (Petra, Year 4 Maths and English)

"Sonali, has been teaching our two son's whom are aged 7 and 9 for two weeks and they are really enjoying it. Sonali is a very pleasant young lady who has prepared her lessons well and has also prepared homework for boys. She takes a keen interest in which subjects they enjoy and which subjects they require improvement on." (Anita,Year 3 and 4 Maths and English)
