Personal Description:
I am a 32 year old tutor based in south east London. For the past twelve years I have been teaching pupils of all ages and abilities in many different capacities and have an excellent success rate with my pupils.

I also work with children with behavioural difficulties/learning disabilities and with adults of all ages and nationalities.

Should you wish to use me, you would encounter a tutor easy to relate to and learn from in an enjoyable and easy environment. I believe a student who is abler ease with their tutor is far more likely to progress no matter where they are starting from!

I hope very much to hear from you soon.

Teaching Experience:

St Bees School 1998-present: Various unpaid voluntary work. Drama work-shop leader on summer-camp. Directing, play-writing, and work-shopping school Junior & Senior plays
2002: Clementine School, Hong Kong EFL Teaching Assistant. Assisting head English language teacher
2002: Hong Kong Institute for young offenders. Spanish Teacher. Teaching basic Spanish to young non English speaking offenders prior to their exchange to Chile
2005-2006: Private Tuition (Ashtead, Surrey) Private tutor. Various pupils for Spanish, English Literature, Drama & English language
2006-Present: Southwark Council. Supply Teaching with 'Classroom' agency. Work with children from mainstream, secondary & primary PRUs and learning difficulty schools.
Private Tuition (Paddington) Private tutor
Government-funded scheme to increase literacy levels amongst primary school pupils
2006-Present: Private Tuition in in all subjects and age ranges offered throughout London.

Tutoring Approach:

I believe one to one private tuition requires a tutor who can adapt to the needs of the pupil.

I would wish to meet the pupil initially to establish how they may best be assisted and what the pupil's key areas of concern are.

In short, each mind, young or old, needs different approaches and I believe my strongest ability is an adaptability to meet the varying needs and requirements of every student.

My approach, in most cases would be to follow a curriculum, finding out where their difficulties lie within this curriculum and how it would be best to resolve them.

I tend to use past papers when it comes to exam based tuition as this is ultimately what they will be faced with come exam time! However, when I have a pupil for longer there is more scope for more imaginative teaching or simply assistance with difficult homework.

With each of my previous pupils I have needed and been able to assist them in a way that is individually appealing to them and I have never had a pupil who has not achieved their desired results.

Personal Description:
I am 53, with a B.Sc. in theoretical physics and an M.Sc. in quantum field theory (with some astrophysics), both from Imperial College, London. I have spent some years working in IT, but maths and physics are the subjects I love, and I enjoy teaching them. I'm familiar with all mathematics (including further maths) and physics to beyond A level standard and theoretical physics to university graduate level.

Teaching Experience:

I also teach chess at a school.

Tutoring Approach:

My approach to tutoring is to teach the concepts clearly. Once the student has
the fundamental concepts straight then academic attainment follows naturally.

Many pupils struggle with maths and physics because of poor explanations
of the concepts involved. Schools often rely on rote memorisation and cramming, as
alternative to understanding. My approach is to explain the derivation of
material. A successful technique is to work through the pupil's choice of homework
or revision problem exercises or past exam papers, showing how each exercise can
be solved. This way the tutoring is targeted at exactly those areas that require
help and is also most directly relevant to achieving exam success.

All curricula and exam boards covered.

Personal Description:
I am a very positive individual that likes to carry out tasks efficiently. I feel that I am a motivator that can relate to a diverse range of people from my experiences from travelling and working in a variety of environments also I have worked with children from different backgrounds and educational levels and with my specific tailored programme of study I can help your child excel beyond your expectations.

Teaching Experience:

I have relevant experience with GCSE and A-level students from one to one tutoring to small group teaching of up to 4. I also have taught English previously when travelling in Asia.

Tutoring Approach:

From my years of experience of tutoring I find that confidence is vital towards success, which I instill in all my tutees.

My style of tutoring is very interactive with visual aids and diagrams with clear concise logical explanations of concepts and theories of the topics to be taught.

My strategy involves building a solid foundation in topics with a step-by-step approach where the basics are covered to ensure that at advanced stages, the tutee can excel.

If the tutee is unclear with a certain problem, breakdown of the problem into individual steps and working though each step with the tutee until the answer is derived to ensure clear understanding in approaching and conquering problems.

Personal Description:
Qualified Teacher Status since 2013 by the Department of Education and Leadership in UK.
University Bachelor's Degree in Teaching specialized in Foreign Languages.
City and Guilds Certificate to teach Adult learners

Teaching Experience:

Since I left University in 1999 I have been teaching all levels of Spanish courses. I have worked for Redbridge and Barking&Dagenham colleges of Adult Education , teaching GCSE,AS/A2 and Advanced Conversation Courses. I have an excellent record of one-to-one tutoring with a very successful exam results. I also have the opportunity to work as an examiner for one of the boards which has given me more insight into the expectations for Spanish GCSE exams.
Familiar with AQA and EDEXCEL examining boards and their controlled assesments

Tutoring Approach:

Spanish is an amazing language! I believe learners need to understand the grammar well as this aspect is essencial to get good grades in their final exams. One-to-one tuition is the support your children need to gain confidence and not to give up before the extreme pressure of their exams. Once this is achieved learners will perform much better!
Past paper exams are also a good tools to help learners to be familiar with the exam requirements.

Personal Description:
Hello!

If you want to be taught by a qualified and practising teacher, then you've come to the right place.

I have had many students, throughout my years in teaching, move several grades higher with my support and guidance.

If you want to learn how to gain marks in preparation for an exam; if you want quality teaching, as opposed to quantity, then you've come to the right place.

I am a qualified teacher with years of experience and I am currently in a school in Enfield. I have taught in many schools across London, and for some years now I have also been working for Edexcel as an assessment associate (which means I mark and grade official exams). I am very clear on how marks are awarded in exams and I have had many students improve a grade or two just by understanding how marks in an exam are gained - one of the benefits of being a practising teacher.

I graduated from Imperial College and I have a versatile and friendly personality and have had the opportunity to teach hundreds of students who function below, on, and above curriculum level. I have been very successful in accommodating diverse student needs by facilitating all styles of learning - offering individualised and extracurricular support, and integrating effective materials.

Further Maths A-level is a specialism of mine: Core maths, Mechanics, Statistics, and Decision maths.

As well as doing one-to-one classes, I am able to offer group classes for which fees are negotiable.

Please bear in mind that time spent with a qualified teacher will add more value to your understanding and education, than time spent with non-qualified tutors.

Teaching Experience:

I have 8 years' experience in teaching KS3, GCSE and A-level and I am currently a practising teacher in Enfield.

Tutoring Approach:

My objective as a teacher is to make concepts of education clear amongst my students in a fun-filled manner and to have a unique approach to teaching and learning. Learning is dynamic and learning is fun. I really don't like it when I see my students bored - this is why I prefer to be flexible.

Personal Description:
I am a Cambridge mathematics graduate with an abiding love for maths and a passion to help students discover and master maths for themselves. Two of my three children have left university and one is still at primary school, so I am engaged closely with the education system at all levels and understand what both students and parents are looking for to achieve academic success. I and my family have lived in Cranleigh for over 20 years and have connections with a number of local schools.

Teaching Experience:

At the time of writing I have more than 15 active tutees spread right across the secondary level, from A-level Further Maths to Year 7. Additionally I have extensive experience as a trainer and coach over more than 25 years as a business manager and consultant. This means I can combine teaching expertise with a wide-ranging practical approach to all aspects of mathematics, to help students learn more effectively through seeing how maths is directly relevant to real life. I have also coached my own children effectively at various ages and through a number of subjects including mathematics, one son having gone on himself to complete a mathematics degree at Cambridge University.

Tutoring Approach:

More than almost any other subject, maths needs confidence to be built, and an individually tailored approach. Some students can grasp mathematical concepts, but need practice to eliminate errors, and challenge to stretch their capabilities. Others struggle to understand at a more basic level, and an imaginative and pictorial approach with plenty of real world examples is needed to achieve that "penny drops" moment!

Depending on the student, tuition may include any or all of: coaching to consolidate (or anticipate) teaching at school; revision for examinations; working through past examination papers; teaching and testing of specific sections of the curriculum; or more free-wheeling exploration of mathematical topics. By agreement with students and parents, homework may be set and marked.

I offer engaging and effective mathematics tuition at all secondary levels including GCSE and A-level. If you want to succeed in your exams and also to deepen your appreciation of mathematics and have fun, then get in touch!

Personal Description:
I'm a recent graduate with both a BA and an MPhil in Philosophy from Cambridge University. I've taken A Levels in English, Mathematics, and History as well, and am very comfortable teaching all these subjects.

Teaching Experience:

I have tutoring experience at both A-Level and University level, in addition to experience with small group teaching at Cambridge University, where I taught first year undergraduates in classes of 10. At the other end of the spectrum, I have an 11 year old sister and am very used to helping her out with homework, and know the challenges involved in teaching young kids too.

Tutoring Approach:

I place a big focus on being friendly and approachable to students, to help make sure they feel relaxed, which I believe is very important for effective leaning. I like to make sure I understand where they are finding things challenging, and why, but also where they are succeeding, to build confidence by emphasising achievements as well as areas for improvement.

Personal Description:
I have previously studied Mathematics at GCSE and A Level and I am going into my final year of my Mathematics degree and for the past two years have worked in a school doing what I enjoy which is helping and guiding students with mathematics. I like to think of myself as a patient, understanding and sensitive person, I can relate to students problems they may experience and help overcome such problems.

Teaching Experience:

I have worked in a school as an Academic Coach from 01/03/2012 and still work there now. My work usually involves working in the classroom helping different students of different abilities, for example in my first year working at the school I often worked with groups of students who were underachieving and students who were unlikely to achieve grade C, although in my second year i have worked mainly with gifted and talented students to give them that extra boost to achieve grade A potentials.

Tutoring Approach:

I like to believe that teaching and working with students is not just about teaching them how to pass exams as the knowledge is often forgotten, I firmly believe in students being thoroughly educated. I feel I am patient and understanding towards tutoring students and like to spread my enthusiasm and passion for maths. During tutoring sessions the students would be taught to apply the knowledge to the exam style tasks in hand.

Personal Description:
I am currently studying Psychology at Cardiff University and have been tutoring for over 5 years. I consider myself to be friendly and relaxed person, and I find I always get on well with my students. I enjoy being a tutor, and take great enjoyment in helping my students to achieve.

Teaching Experience:

I have been tutoring Mathematics at GCSE and A-Level for just over 5 years. In this time I have become very familiar with the topics students have most difficulty with, and have experience of teaching both the Mechanics and Statistics modules.
I have had many students who have excelled and go on to achieve high results, most of which return to me each year for further support.

Tutoring Approach:

I have a more informal approach to tutoring. I try to make sure my students are comfortable with me and so are not concerned with coming to me with problems. I always try to make sure a topic is fully understood before continuing. I will be sure to tailor my teaching style to each of my students, to be sure they are learning in the way that best suits them (e.g. fast-paced, lots of practice questions, worked examples, analogies).

Personal Description:
I am a second year medical student at UCL and passed first year with a Merit. The subjects I took for AS level were Chemistry,Biology,Maths and Economics and I achieved 4As, scoring over 90% in each. I took Chemistry, Biology and Maths for A level and achieved an A* in each, gaining 100% in chemistry and biology. I am very confident in teaching all 3 subjects up to and including A-level at a high standard.

Teaching Experience:

I mentored younger boys for chemistry for 2 years at school and other family members. I have recently taken my A levels and achieved high grades so the information is still fresh in my mind. I can pass on learning styles I have developed to achieve high grades.

Tutoring Approach:

First of all I will determine the level of knowledge my student has and from there I will draw up a teaching plan with them. It is important to ask students if they have particular areas of the syllabus which they struggle with, in order to concentrate on these areas in particular. I will ensure that my student has a good grounding knowledge which we can build on in subsequent lessons. I am a firm believer in using the syllabus whilst learning as it provides the core knowledge of the exams.

Personal Description:
Hi, my name is Aimee and I am a fourth year Maths student at the University of Glasgow. I am a passionate Mathematician who believes that maths really is exciting if you can see the real life applications it has. I am British and have lived in Scotland for most of my life.

Teaching Experience:

I am an administrator on a maths homework answers website. This means that I help to answer people's maths questions and also moderate comments. It really gives me a buzz when I see that someone has finally understood how to complete a problem, and so I want to be able to help more people to understand and enjoy maths, not just so they will do better in school and exams, but so that they won't go through life thinking that maths is a subject that is confusing and unattainable, which couldn't be further from the truth :)

Tutoring Approach:

I try to be friendly and approachable, and to adjust to peoples different learning styles. When it comes to studying for exams I believe that doing past papers and lots of practice examples are key to boosting confidence. It also helps to banish the fear that so often accompanies sitting exams. If you know what to expect, then you can be certain that you will do yourself justice when you walk into that exam hall. For younger tutees I think that one of the most important things to develop is their understanding that maths is something that is used constantly in everyday life. This can be achieved by looking at maths questions that not only drive home those basic skills but that also show practical applications. I am perfectly willing to give a free tutoring session with no further commitment necessary if it doesn't work out, and parents/guardians can sit in on sessions if they want to.

In general students come up to me with a list of questions that they might be struggling with and we'd work through them together providing a step to step method as to how to approach and solve the problems. Personal Description:
An enthusiastic, inspiring tutor with a PhD in Physics.

I have a long history with Imperial College London where I have studied and worked since my undergraduate degree. I worked in the Theoretical Physics group for six months as a Research Assistant after being awarded a PhD in Physics, studying Observational Cosmology. Prior to this, I was awarded an MSci in Physics with Theoretical Physics (First Class honours). During my PhD, I worked part time as an undergraduate teaching assistant for Maths, Physics and Computing courses.

I am an enthusiastic tutor with a love for Physics and Maths. I am passionate about education and sharing knowledge with my students - I will soon be starting a secondary teacher training course for which I have been awarded a prestigious scholarship from the Institute of Physics.

Teaching Experience:

In the past I have volunteered at a Homework Club in Earls Court for disadvantaged 8-16 year old children, which was extremely rewarding. I worked on Maths and Science homework once a week for several months.

I also volunteered as an A-level maths and physics tutor in a mixed sixth form at Cardinal Vaughan Memorial School through the Pimlico Connection volunteering scheme at Imperial College. I tutored small groups of one or two students for a couple of hours a week for five months.

I was employed as a part time undergraduate teaching assistant at Imperial College throughout the three and a half years of my PhD. I assisted staff in teaching maths, physics and computing courses. This included assisting students with problem sheets, supervising project work, marking reports and giving students individual feedback.

Tutoring Approach:

I like to develop a problem solving approach, showing you how to approach problems so that you can apply existing knowledge to new examples. I think that a tutor should demonstrate a passion for their subject and be able to excite others about it.

I have a knowledge of the National Curriculum and am familiar with the GCSE and A-level specifications.
