Personal Description:
I recently graduated from Oxford University, with a masters (Meng) in engineering science. I took my A levels in 2007 in Physics, Maths, Further maths and Economics, achieving grade A in all. I am very familiar with the sort of study patterns and techniques that are required by students in their preperation for these exams. I am friendly, helpful and very patient when it comes to teaching on a one to one basis.

Teaching Experience:

I was involved with the mentoring scheme that my college offered. This involved me having to meet with individual students in order to help and advise them with their school work. This experience helped me become more aware of the different methods and approaches needed for individual students. I also have two younger brothers studying for their GCSE's/A-levels who I regularly help out with their academic work.

Tutoring Approach:

My approach is to break down the topic into small managable chunks and to take the student step by step through the material. I am focused with teaching the student key exam techniques and vital steps that are needed in preperation for them. I am focused with covering material in a thorough but efficient way, as well as making use of exam past papers which hold the key to breaking down nervousness and exam fright.

Personal Description:
I have done My M.sc. Physics & M.Sc. Mobile and Satellite Communications. I studies Chemistry, Mathematics and Physics as major subjects in B.Sc. I am a passionate teacher and well aware of the teacher student relationship.I understand students difficulties in understanding difficult concepts and know how to help them understand.

Teaching Experience:

I am teaching GCSE/A Level students from previous seven years. I have prepared my own exam based helping material for students which proves really helpful for them. Most of my students get A/A* grades.

Tutoring Approach:

Well the purpose of hiring a tutor is to understand concepts which a student neither can understand in a class nor himself/herself.Only tutoring gives a student one to one attention of the teacher and thus better understanding.
My approach is to both, develop concepts and help the students to get good grades as well, as both are important.Teaching students how to attempt the questions in exams.I am quite a friendly person and never get irritated.I am ready to teach a difficult concept 10 times to a student until he understands

Aside from my studies I play a lot of sport (lacrosse, rugby and athletics) and have captained teams at national and regional level. I still play lacrosse for University, but am currently training for county team selection for next season. Due to my teaching experience (see below) I am comfortable working with children through to adults on a broad range of subjects.

I am dedicated to providing all my students with the time they need to improve, thus will only take a certain amount of students at a time. At the moment, I have space for 2 A-level students and 2 more Higher Education students.

Tutoring Approach:

My main Tutoring ethos lies in four fields:

Academic experience: I have worked in private tutoring, state and private schools, university departments and know how examiners mark and what they expect. I have worked for 2 prestigious Universities and am adept at entrance documents and applications. In addition, one needs to be constantly aware of the changing curricula, mark schemes, and student specifications, knowledge and understanding of which can guarantee a 95%+ grade.

Encouragement: As a sports captain, Head of Year prefect and Global Citizenship Mentor (UCL) I realise the need for a pupil's confidence to be built up before they can achieve better. In my opinion a pupil is never failing, they can just achieve more.

Planning: It is essential for us to have an organised lesson plan, and plan for our future sessions so we can map where we should be heading and what we have achieved. Many students suffer from poor organisation which, if remedied, would immediately proffer far better results.

Education: During my past six years of college, undergraduate and graduate university I have been educated in a host of valuable disciplines that help interest and inspire any student.

Tutoring needs to be tailored to each individual. For any pupil its best if I am told about their interests, and activities, so we can then work out a good and effective tutoring plan.

Personal Description:
A qualified secondary school teacher with a fresh approach to teaching maths and music. Having spent most of my life in the education system (both as a student and a teacher) I have a real passion for learning, something I endeavour to pass on to my students.

Teaching Experience:

As a secondary school teacher I have over 5 years classroom experience and I have been tutoring privately since university.

Tutoring Approach:

I believe the key to good learning is enjoyment and building the student`s belief in their own ability and understanding. School work can sometimes leave people without confidence, and I think one of my strengths is an ability to boost the self-confidence of learners and make them believe they can do it! We all learn in different ways and I encourage students who have been struggling with certain learning methods to find the one that is right for them. Often a few gaps in knowledge will leave students feeling they don't have the ability to understand the subject at all. It's very important to first assess current knowledge and understanding, and then go back to basics if necessary so that students can regain their confidence in their own ability.

I feel it`s extremely important to have a good relationship between the tutor and the student, and I always endeavour to have excellent working relationships with my students.

Please note: My stated rates are for students travelling to me. Travel up to 5 miles 30 an hour (primary 28). For travel up to 10 miles 35 an hour (primary 32). Unfortunately I am unable to travel beyond 10 road miles.

What previous clients have said about lessons with me:

"Danielle was just fantastic with Zoe. Zoe really enjoyed the tutoring sessions and appreciated the mentoring. The results speaks for itself. She really picked up the subject matter and achieved a significantly high grade. Thank you Danielle, you`ve really made a difference in Zoe`s education. I would go so far to say that she has really changed her approach to learning."

"Danielle has been very encouraging with my daughter and she is benefitting greatly from her lessons. I would be happy to recommend her to anyone looking for a tutor."

Personal Description:
I am hoping to study Physics at Sussex University in September and I have always enjoyed Maths and the Sciences. I attended King Edward VI Grammar School.

Teaching Experience:

I've tutored a few Key Stage 3 pupils and thoroughly enjoyed this. I also used to instruct cadets in my school's cadet force and I took part in a project to teach year 9 pupils ICT.

Tutoring Approach:

I try to tutor through example, helping the pupil work through several questions before allowing them to attempt one themselves. I find this allows the pupils to understand the process through which the question is completed.

Personal Description:
I am a family man, married 10 years to my wife Mel, with 3 beautiful daughters. I have been tutoring in the South Wales area since 1992 after graduating in Chemical Engineering with 2nd (Hons) Degree from University of Glamorgan. My hobbies include wordwide travel, Triathlon, Motorcycles/Cars and anything to do with science and maths.

Teaching Experience:

After graduating in Summer 1992 with an Honours Degree in Chemical & Process Engineering from the University of Glamorgan, I set up my tutoring business to assist parents & pupils with examination preparation, who felt they were being let down by the educational system.

I worked as an examiner for the WJEC from 1997 to 2002 marking Maths papers.

I currently teach on a 1-2-1 basis or in small groups, usually {but not exclusively} in the privacy of the pupils home, in the following subjects:-

* Key stages 1 to 4 {GCSE} in Mathematics, English, Chemistry, Biology, Physics, Engineering, Design and Technology, Electronics.

* 'A' Levels {GCE} in Mathematics, Chemistry, Biology, Physics

* BTEC Engineering, Nursing & Health Care courses, Paramedics, Sports Science.

* Degrees in Engineering - Chemical, Mechanical, Civil, Electrical, Aerospace, and Nursing.

* UKCAT Entrance exams to Medicine and Dental school.

Tutoring Approach:

I thoroughly prepare students for examinations using past paper practise to build up their self confidence and develop the ability to read and digest each exam question.

During the interim term time, I conduct 'student led' lessons, where each of my pupils is able to tell me what they want to learn; whether it be new material, homework assistance or revision of old topics.

I structure my lessons this way because I teach many different students of varying abilities, who are studying at different levels and using different exam boards e.g. WJEC, OCR, AQA, EDEXCEL.

Personal Description:
I am currently a student at the University of Leicester studying Mathematics. I am passionate about teaching, not just because I am enthusiastic about my subjects, but because I am driven to help people reach their full potential, and achieve what they strive for in life. Education is the key to success in many ways, and I am eager to give people the best I have, in order to see them achieve. My hobbies are to travel and find out about many different cultures. I love to learn new languages and understand life from different perspectives. As a keen traveller myself, I love to hear about life in different countries, as well as teaching about my own culture and lifestyle, hence why I became a qualified teacher of English as a Foreign Language.

Teaching Experience:

For the last 5 years, I have tutored Children from ages 9-16 in Mathematics, preparing them for exams such as GCSEs, or assisting them with their difficulties in order to help the progress to the level of their classroom or their desired level. I have also assisted in Mathematics lessons in my local Secondary School.
I have taught English as a Foreign Language in Malawi, Tanzania, Brazil and England. This has been a variety of ways such as: working in student's homes, at a local cafe, in Primary/Secondary schools, and in an orphanage.

Tutoring Approach:

English as a Foreign Language can be taught according to your needs i.e. it may be conversational, it may be written, it may be providing listening material etc. Depending on your needs, this may be performed online via Skype or google+, simply via email where we can have instant chat, or depending on where you and your needs we can arrange lessons where we meet in person.
Mathematics is a more practical subject, where I would need to teach the theory before setting exercises to find out the problems of the student before addressing those problems in order to see the children develop and achieve progress in that area. Mathematics lessons are best produced in person, however if necessary online lessons could be arranged.
I am willing to change material, and be flexible with my methods of teaching depending on the age and academic level of each individual student.

Personal Description:
I am a Chartered Civil Engineer and qualified Teacher. I am a natural communicator who can relate the academic subjects to real-life applications to make concepts and ideas easier to understand.
I am currently working as a civil engineer rather than a teacher.

Teaching Experience:

I have taught all sciences to GCSE and physics upto A-level. I am a physics specialist. I've also taught maths and link this to science and other applications wherever possible.

Tutoring Approach:

My philosophy is to make a subject relevant to the students and provide them with examples of the concepts being used in everyday life. My methods are to introduce a subject and assess existing knowledge through questioning and having the student demonstrate their knowledge and then building on this to deepen understanding. In this way I aim to increase the skills and knowledge of the students and improve their performance and enjoyment of the subject.

Personal Description:
I have moved to North Devon in the last year and am setting up a Tutoring Business alongside training as a Psychotherapist. I have worked with children for 14 years and have a lot of experience with them and very much enjoy teaching them. The feedback I have had so far is that their child feels much more confident that then builds a good foundation for developing their learning skills.

Teaching Experience:

I have been a Primary School teacher for 9 years.

Tutoring Approach:

Please see above in my "About myself" section.
I work with each child as an individual. As each child is different, they have a unique approach to learning that I am willing to find out and use. I have a relaxed style but we cover a lot in the time we have and I have started to see a change after a few sessions.

Personal Description:
I graduating from the College of St Mark and St John in 2003 with a 2: 1 Honours Degree, my Post Graduate Certificate in Education was awarded at Marjon in 2004.

I have many years teaching and tutoring experience so have considerable empathy for students (and parents) involved in the GCSE process.

Teaching Experience:

"I have 8 years classroom experience and 2 years Tutoring experience guiding GCSE students successfully through their Maths GCSE exams

Tutoring Approach:

I currently tutor students studying the Foundation level of GCSE Maths. If you find Maths a bit of a challenge and are hoping to achieve that important Grade C at GCSE, my sessions are tailored especially for you. Lessons are delivered in a relaxed atmosphere where students are supported patiently with positive encouragement.

A lack of confidence in Mathematics can be a barrier to learning in itself. My methods are specifically designed to boost self-confidence, accelerate learning and ensure higher attainment. With the growing competition for A Level and university places, a GCSE pass in Mathematics is essential for a young person's future."

If Maths is not your strong point but you really want the best chance of success in the GCSE exams, call now for your initial assessment.

Personal Description:
I am currently studying Physics at my first year in Oxford University. I thoroughly enjoy learning and teaching alike and hope to continue in Physics after my degree. Due to my degree I am in England 6 months a year but live in Northern Ireland all Christmas, Easter and the months of July, August and September.

Teaching Experience:

I was involved in the tutor scheme at Ballyclare High School when I attended, where I worked with 1st to 3rd years with their science and maths.

Tutoring Approach:

I am a friendly and patient tutor. I find the more enjoyable a subject is the easier it is to remember. I find working through questions is the best way to apply knowledge.

Personal Description:
Hello! I am 28 years old and a post-doctoral researcher at Imperial College London. I have 4 degrees which are all in engineering disciplines. As a result, I have a very strong background in theory and applied mathematics, physics, chemistry, and biology.

I am here in London on a prestigious fellowship through the United Nations and, as a result, fairly new to London. I come from the United States where I used to tutor undergraduates on Math, Physics, Matlab, Chemistry, and Biology. My highest level of Education is a Ph.D. in Chemical and Biological Engineering.

I have written many successful graduate school essays and won many prestigious fellowships through my writing. If you are someone looking into college or graduate school, I would be happy to help you with your applications as well!

Teaching Experience:

I was a Teaching Assistant during my Ph.D. where I would teach and conduct lab sessions. I also graded and watched the final projects which were due at the end of the term. Aside from this, I was also a private tutor during my PhD for subject areas: Math, Physics, Matlab, Chemistry, and Biology.

In my spare time, I am also an International Student Mentor and was a Fulbright Mentor as well.

I loved teaching and being a private tutor and I had a 100% review rating on the previous website I used to tutor under. I would come prepared every week with a set plan of study and I always accomplished it with the student feeling very accomplished and eager to learn more.

Tutoring Approach:

I usually create and tailor my methods based on the first meeting I have with the student. Everyone is different so I need at least one session to guide my preparations in the future. With previous students I have made summary notes at the end of each tutoring session, made mock quizzes for them to take, and created unique ways of memorizing formula. As an Engineer, I need a reason to do everything. I do not like to memorize something I do not understand so I think having this trait allows me to explain things to students in a way that makes sense.

Personal Description:
Hi there!

My name's Jack, I'm 24 years old and a recent(ish) physics graduate. I grew up in Tewkesbury where my folks still live and went on to study physics at Bristol University. I've always been keen on the sciences and really enjoyed my university years - Bristol itself is a lovely place too and I found it to have a very friendly vibe. After graduating I worked as a software engineer in Bath for a few months before moving back to Cheltenham to start a graduate scheme with GE aviation.

In my spare time I am a pretty avid guitarist and have been playing for 7 or 8 years now. I played with a band in Bristol until just recently (mostly Indie/Rock stuff) and would love to get back into this at some point. I've also been toying with getting singing lessons lately as that is something I've always wanted to be able to do! Im a bit of a film buff particularly science fiction films (shock horror!) - my current film obsession is 'Moon', directed by David Bowie's son no less! Aside from that I retain my interest in physics and try and keep my mind limber by reading about new theories and ideas.

Oh and I am a big fan of George Orwell's writings - I compare things to 1984 so often that my girlfriend has started rolling her eyes when I do so!

Teaching Experience:

At university learning and teaching were, at least in my experience, very closely associated. I found that the most effective (and most rewarding) way to learn was to toss ideas around with my course mates and explain to each other our different interpretations of a topic. Helping someone else get to grips with a tough idea is a wonderful feeling and something that I would like to have the opportunity to do more regularly.

More recently I have been tutoring my girlfriend with her college maths assignments (free of charge of course!). The work is of a GCSE to A level standard and being a bit of a math-phobe she sometimes finds it a bit overwhelming. Taking things slowly and staying positive has worked well and her average is now over 85%.

My brother is also quite an eager learner and often asks me to help with his computer programming which has come on very strongly since he first began.

Tutoring Approach:

Being fairly young and still not that far removed from the student life I feel as though I know what it feels like to struggle with tough concepts and appreciate the value of a good tutor. My method is to offer friendly and specific advice on the problem at hand and try to instill fundamental understanding rather than methodical approaches. I find the best way to do this is to start with relatively simple problems to build confidence and enjoyment - I find that it is all to easy for a student to be put off maths or think they 'arent clever enough' if difficult problems are presented too early. Taking a structured approach is also important so that each lesson builds upon the last and gives a well rounded account of the topic.

Most importantly I am a friendly, patient person and will always do my best to help.

Personal Description:
I'm a second year physics student studying at Imperial College London, currently at home in Cardiff for the summer holidays, having achieved a first class grade in my first year, and back in London from October. Alongside my physics studies, I'm an active musician - a member of the Cardiff County Youth Orchestra, Imperial College Big Band and Imperial College Symphony Orchestra - and an aspiring programmer - currently learning Python but intend to make a start on C++ before the new academic year.

Teaching Experience:

Throughout sixth form, I tutored local secondary and primary school students privately, arranged official after-school revision sessions for GCSE students with my friends, partook in numeracy schemes for younger secondary school students requiring additional assistance and was required to present topics, such as energy wastage, to KS3 classes as part of the Welsh Baccalaureate (which I also passed but was unable to fit in the Qualifications section below). I'm also taking a Communicating Physics option this coming year at Imperial, which entails visiting and teaching in schools in London for a period of the year (while this isn't past experience, I feel it also is indicative of my continuing dedication to and enjoyment of sharing my understanding and passion for my subjects with younger students).

Tutoring Approach:

Understanding the subject is everything: I work to ensure that the student knows the subject as 'inside-out' as possible at their level, in order for them not only to understand the topics expected of them, but also for them to deal with any 'curveball' questions thrown their way during exams (which seperates the good students from the very good students).
