Personal Description:
I might be expensive but I am worth it as your child will see a marked improvement in their results and confidence levels. To assess whether I am the right tutor for you I offer the first lesson for free.

I am also offer short intensive GCSE and A-Level courses over the holidays. Each course is 1-2 days long and works through at least six complete past papers. The classes are kept small (maximum 8 students) and focus on real exam questions, exam technique and ultimately grade improvement. If you use UKTutors to contact me about the courses I will deduct their fee from the course price.

I was awarded a First Class Honours degree from University College London in 1997 and went on to study a PhD in Quantum Mechanics. On successful completion of my PhD in 2001 I started work at Thales Research and Technology (TRT) where I led projects on Adaptive Learning Systems and Information Management. I initiated the first programme to span the three TRT laboratories in France, Netherlands and UK in the area of Cognitive Systems research. I then went on to set up and lead a large collaborative team between TRT and University of Surrey to study remote collaboration technologies. I joined General Dynamics United Kingdom Limited in 2005, primarily to ensure exploitation of DIF DTC technologies into the UK Ministry of Defence Equipment Programme. I received my Chartered Physicist status in 2004 and am now a director of an innovation company.

Teaching Experience:

My teaching experience ranges from teaching GCSE students all the way up to teaching PhD students to improve their thesis writing skills. One of my students improved from a D to an A at GCSE level after just six months of tuition with me, and commonly students improve by at least one grade.

Tutoring Approach:

My tuition method involves making Maths and Physics fun so that children and young adults will remember their lessons and overcome the "I can't do science" syndrome. So that you can assess whether or not I am the right tutor for your child I offer the first lesson for free.

I feel that I am a motivator that can relate to a diverse range of people from my experiences from travelling and working in a variety of environments also I have worked with children from different backgrounds and educational levels and with my specific tailored programme of study I can help your child excel beyond your expectations.

Teaching Experience:

I have relevant experience with GCSE and A-level students from one to one tutoring to small group teaching of up to 4. I also have taught English previously when travelling in Asia.

Tutoring Approach:

From my years of experience of tutoring I find that confidence is vital towards success, which I instill in all my tutees.

My style of tutoring is very interactive with visual aids and diagrams with clear concise logical explanations of concepts and theories of the topics to be taught.

My strategy involves building a solid foundation in topics with a step-by-step approach where the basics are covered to ensure that at advanced stages, the tutee can excel.

If the tutee is unclear with a certain problem, breakdown of the problem into individual steps and working though each step with the tutee until the answer is derived to ensure clear understanding in approaching and conquering problems.

Personal Description:
I am a fully qualified Maths teacher - B Sc (Maths) and PGDE (Post Graduate Diploma in Education) - with a passion for Maths and Computing, I am fully computer literate and competent with video editing software. My other passion (non academic) is cycling!

Teaching Experience:

I work fulltime as a maths tutor and last year I worked extensively on the One-To-One program tutoring in the local school from November until the end of the academic year. I also tutored in a second nearby school as well as tutoring privately. My pass rate for GCSE was over 80%.

Tutoring Approach:

My attitude is that if you are willing to work, I am willing to help you. The degree to which you are successful is dependent on my guidance and your hard work. There is no reason why you can't achieve what you want.

When I take a student on I provide a service that I consider excellent value for money. Obviously lessons are paid for by hour. However I do provide my contact details and will answer e-mail queries outside of tutor time. I also, often and with good success, will make and send a video lesson to help my students.

Personal Description:
Feedback from my previous students:

1) "Usama tutored our son between March and June 2012. We found Usama to be highly professional, knowledgable and reliable. Our son`s final A level grade increased from a D to a B and the subject area that Usama specifically taught the final grade was an A. We would strongly recommend Usama as a tutor"

2) "Having Usama as a tutor has allowed me to make acheievable targets, and he enables me to learn at my own pace. He has helped me gain confidence in both AS Chemistry and Biology and his easy-going nature makes the lessons enjoyable and interesting"

My Profile:

I graduated in 2010 with a 2:1 in BSc (Hons) Biomedical Sciences from University College London (UCL). My undergraduate research work has been chosen for publication in a peer-reviewed journal.

I am now in the third year of the Postgraduate Dentistry course at UCLan. I achieved the joint highest mark in my first year of Dentistry. I am very friendly, approachable and understanding. I have very strong communication skills, strengthened further by my clinical experience from working with patients of all ages and learning capacities.

I like learning new languages and can speak elementary Mandarin. I love travelling and have a great interest in outdoor activities.

Teaching Experience:

I am currently tutoring students in Lancaster. My two A level Biology students achieved three grade improvements from D to A and U to C in this Summer's exams. I am determined to build up on this very encouraging outcome.

Before moving to the North West, I have taught students in London including younger students in my family and the local area in London and they are now studying at top ranking London Universities.

Tutoring Approach:

I start by assessing the current level of understanding of the student. I agree a personalised plan and ways of assessing progress with the student. I ask students which method is most suitable for them and proceed accordingly.

I prepare my lessons for the agreed topics to keep the sessions objective and formulate examples and demonstrations to make them interesting.

I believe in understanding concepts, so that any questions or problems can then be put into context. Near exam time, I go through the same concepts again to ensure understanding and practice by using past exam papers.

Personal Description:
I am a recent graduate from the University of Plymouth and hold a maths degree. I am training to become a teacher and tutoring is a key stepping stone on that ladder. I have studied maths as my primary subject from an early age and have a good knowledge of subjects like differentiation, integration, algebra, and statistics.

Teaching Experience:

I have been a personal tutor for two years and specialise in GCSE level maths.

I was enrolled in the SAS (Student Associates Scheme) for university students last year where I took part in the training course. I attended a series of lectures on modern teaching techniques and how to work with children.

I have also worked part-time for six years at TeamSport Bristol, a karting circuit, where I regularly am required to work with children. I was a junior instructor before I went to university where I had to brief young karters on the dangers of the sport and ensure that they were under control.

Tutoring Approach:

I find that many tutors have a good knowledge but fail to incite any interest in the subject. I find this a crying shame as maths can be fascinating if it taught in the correct way. As a recent graduate of the UK schooling system I have a modern perspective on the curriculum and can teach according to this. As a younger person I am also be able to connect more with a tutee rather than someone who may be working by an outdated approach. I also hold excellent IT skills and am proficient with Microsoft Office.

Personal Description:
I am a fourth year medical student at Imperial College London. Having recently been through high school and excelled in both GCSEs and A-levels, I know what it requires for a student to perform to the best of their ability. I am a strong believer that with hard work and the right guidance, most students can go on to achieve excellent grades.

Teaching Experience:

During my A-levels, I have helped teach younger students in Geography and Maths classes, but the majority of my teaching experience has been with my two younger brothers. I have worked very hard with them over the years and take pride in the fact that they too performed exceptionally well at school through my help.

Tutoring Approach:

I like to make my lessons interactive, explaining complex ideas in the simplest and most interesting way possible. I strongly believe that student must first develop a good conceptual understanding of the subject before refining their exam technique. I will work hard for my students and expect them to do the same in their studies.

Personal Description:
Hi my name is Ernest. I'm currently studying MSci Physics (3rd year) in Uiversity College London.

Physics, Mathematics, Further Mathematics, Chemistry:
I studied all of my secondary school years in Hong Kong, and self-studied GCE in Hong Kong. I was awarded A*AAA in GCE A-Levels in 2010, with Maths being A*. I had done at least 10 years of past public exam papers, therefore I'm richly experienced in examination techniques and skills, and I know very clearly what concepts most students misunderstand or get confused with.

Personally I prefer to have a 2-hour session each time to maximize the effect of the tutorial. Although my tuition fee is listed as 20 pounds and 17 pounds per hour, I will only acquire 35 pounds and 30 pounds if 2-hour sessions are booked. I'm living in central London in zone 1, and I can travel to up to zone 3 (or even zone 4 if it is near tube stations). I can do most weekday evenings and all day during weekends.

Music:
First, I DO NOT teach paper-examination type of music. I give instrumental tuitions for tenor / bass trombones and euphoniums.

I have been playing tenor / bass trombones for 7 years, and 9 years for euphonium. I got my ABRSM Euphonium Grade 6 distinction in the beginning of my third year of study in euphonium, and my ABRSM tenor trombone Grade 8 distinction in the beginning of my second year of study in trombone.

For the past years in secondary school I have participated numerous competitions with the school symphonic band, and was frequently awarded as the first three places in different competitions. In summer 2009 I performed "T-bone Concerto: I. Rare" as the solo trombonist with my school symphonic band. In Summer 2010, I participated in "CISM-Mid Europe youth band competition" with Hong Kong Young Musicians' Wind Orchestra, and was awarded the champion in group B and second runner-up in overall.

I am currently the first trombonist in the UCL Symphony Orchestra and the first trombonist and euphonium player in Hong Kong Young Musicians' Wind Orchestra in Hong Kong. I am also the trombonist of certain musicals produced by UCLU Musical Theatre Society, such as "Anything Goes (2010)" and "The Producers (2011)".

The tuition fee (per hour basis) will vary according to the level of the students as follows:
Grade 1-2: 20 pounds
Grade 3-5: 25 pounds
Grade 6-7: 30 pounds
Grade 8: 35 pounds

Teaching Experience:

Physics, Mathematics, Further (Pure) Mathematics and Chemistry:
- 7 years private tutoring in Physics, Mathematics, Pure Mathematics, Chemistry, Biology (HKCEE)
- 5 years group tutoring in Physics and Mathematics

Instrumental Music:
- 7 years group tutoring in trombone, euphonium and tuba

Tutoring Approach:

Physics, Mathematics, Further Mathematics and Chemistry:
There will generally be two approaches to tutoring:

- Knowledge-based
The aim of this approach is to infuse the concepts of the subjects into students' mind. More detailed explanation / derivation towards different areas of the subjects will be given. Various ways of expression will be used to explain different ideas to students. It will be very interactive and inspiring.

- Examination-based
The aim of this approach is to give a boost to students who have exams / tests coming up. More examination techniques and skills will be taught. Also it will involve lots of exercises. Practice makes perfect.

The above two approaches will be used depending on the students' ability and progress. I will generally teach a bit faster than most teachers in schools, so as to let students have a deeper image of what's being taught when the teachers in schools teach that area. Also, I may not follow the chapters of the textbooks. I will rearrange the topics so that the flow of logic makes the most sense for students.

I strongly prefer face-to-face tuition since this is proved to me the most effective way of private tutoring. Nevertheless, online tutoring via Skype is still welcomed. Phone calls / messages / whatsapp / facebook messages are welcomed anytime if students encounter problems doing their homework / during their studies, free of charge.

Instrumental Music:
It will mostly involve basics of score-reading, breathing and instrumental practice. Students are required to buy their own practice books. Oral exam trainings will also be provided before instrumental examinations.

Personal Description:
I recently finished a 2 year course at Greenhead Sixth-Form College and am currently taking a BA in English at the University of Oxford. English Literature, History, Mathematics and Physics were my chosen subjects; I dropped Physics in the second year. Voted by The Times as number 1 sixth-form state college, Greenhead was a challenge. Through hard work, I achieved highly (as shown by my qualifications). My first year at Oxford University has come to a close: I achieved a 2.1. I am calm and polite, unpretentious and enthusiastic, consistent and professional in behaviour, but always friendly and never clinical.

Teaching Experience:

At Greenhead I volunteered to help students, especially in Maths and English, and I often voluntarily read with school children at Lightcliffe Primary. I have only recently decided to tutor, but have a past immersed in education (both my parents are teachers).

Tutoring Approach:

I understand the value of your education and the importance of a personalised approach to learning. I advocate a focused, disciplined education, but understand how to motivate younger, or less mature tutees. I know my fields well and keep up to date in current advances - anything I need to learn, I will, swiftly and with pleasure. I am extremely perceptive, able to quickly and effectively identify how a tutee learns best. Having recently left education myself, I can sympathise with those currently part of it. This, I believe, is a huge advantage - as one recently taught, I know what is an effective, modern way of teaching. Above all, I simply enjoy the rewards of good tutoring: watching a tutee grow and thrive. In little other professions is such a reward possible, and this, ultimately, is why I am so dedicated to spending every second required to make your tutoring a success.

Personal Description:
I am a Physics and Maths Tutor who is currently pursuing a PhD in Particle Physics at University of Warwick. My work involves analysing data from an experiment called LHCb at CERN which is located on the Swiss-France border near the wonderful city of Geneva in Switzerland. I am currently an Associate Tutor at the University. I have completed my MSc in Theoretical Physics at University of Sussex and my BSc(Hons) from University of Liverpool. I enjoy playing sports and games like Cricket, Football and Chess.I was also a part of National Cadet Corps (NCC) in my School days. My musical interest lie in playing Tabala (Indian Drums) and currently failling to learn Harmonica. I have a tremendous interest in research in Mathematical and Experimental Physics and hence I have spent time doing a paid-internships at CERN, Geneva and research projects at University of Liverpool. I take passion in sharing my interest towards the subject with the students I get involved with and henceforth motivating them towards achieving their goal.

Teaching Experience:

Currently, I am an Associate Tutor at University of Warwick and have previously been an Associate Tutor at University of Sussex. These jobs involve conducting group workshops for some of the undergraduate modules. I have also previously tutored University, Final year GCSE and AS/A-level students through UK Tutors. During my BSc course at Uni of Liverpool, I have assisted with carrying out physics experiments and problem solving exercises for GCSE/A-level students at 'Physics Olympics Worldwide'. When I was a Cadet, I have taken part in many public awareness programs to instruct children to take up schooling and opt for higher education in India. In 2011 as a BSc student, I participated in the Summer School Research programme at CERN, Geneva, Switzerland, giving presentations to Summer students about my work.

Tutoring Approach:

My approach towards teaching varies with each student and their needs. Generally, for a subject like Physics it's very important that we lay down the basics of a concept very firmly in the minds of the students. To do this, I provide a visual aid with day-to-day experiences so that the pupil can think, rethink and understand the concept clearly. This would not only build confidence to solve class room questions or exam questions but would also motivate them to solve/understand more complicated problems and hence appreciate the simplicity of nature. For Mathematics, a lot of students suffer from fear of equations. This fear in students can only be circumvented by familiarizing with different kinds of problems involving different tricks and techniques of the trade.
I always engage a friendly manner of teaching so that the student can get comfortable to ask about any kind of conceptual difficulty that he/she may face. When it comes to the exams it is crucial that we go through the wealth of past papers and problems to familiarize them with the kind of questions they might ask and answers that they might expect. In each session, I would help the pupil work through questions which have frequently appeared in the past papers and let the pupil solve a few so as to make sure he/she has completely grasped the concept/technique.
So regardless of the grade your child is trying to achieve, please feel free to contact me if you would like to know more.

Personal Description:
My name is Darryl and I graduated from The University of Southampton in June 2013 with a degree in Economics and Actuarial Science (A very Statistical and Mathematical based subject). I previously worked for the American Bank Wells Fargo, and I now currently work as a Financial Consultant for Deloitte.

I have tutored for the past 4 years and I have enjoyed great success in helping my students to reach their full potential, and in many times, excel beyond their predicted grades. As a person who has just come out of education I have plenty of helpful tricks and tips to doing well in exams. I am also very familiar with the school curriculum as I have younger siblings, whom I also tutor. What sets me apart from most is that as well as tutoring my students, I take the role of a mentor, to motivate, encourage and guide them towards success.

As a young teenager I was a student who was pressured by my parents do excel in school, this sometimes caused me to have a more rebellious attitude towards my studies. Thus, I realise the various difficulties many students face throughout their studies, and I believe that having this experience provides me with the ability to connect to students who either are struggling with their studies, or are disengaged with their school work.

I achieved straight A's and A*'s at GCSE at a very poor school, I then got offered a scholarship to attend an independent school where I achieved A's in Mathematics, Physics and Economics. Finally I completed my studies at University with an upper second class degree with honours. I now am on a gap year and about to start a teaching course with the vision of becoming a Secondary School teacher in the near future.

Teaching Experience:

I started teaching Primary school and GCSE students whilst I was in my final year in sixth form, I then went on to teach A-level students whilst I was at University. Throughout those years my proudest achievement has been motivating my students and changing their attitudes towards studying and school. I have been able to get my students to work much harder then they (or their parents) ever expected them to. I believe the reason for is that I am young and provide a more friend-like support, as opposed to a demanding parent or teacher. By doing this my students' feel that I can relate to them and thus we establish a respected relationship. In addition I have also tutored students for entrance exams (e.g. 11+) and I am happy to say I have had great success in doing this also.

I have travelled to tutor many of my students, as well as tutoring some of them in my own home. I have always catered to the preferences of my students and their parents and I continue to do so to get the best out of my students. I like to finish each of my lessons by briefing the parent(s)/guardian(s) of the student's ongoing progress and my future goals for them.

Tutoring Approach:

I spend a lot of time planning for sessions so that my students get the very best out of each lesson. I am a very organised person, and I like to set short term and long term goals for myself and my students. I also like to keep track of the performance of my students, both for my needs and theirs. I always ensure that my lessons are engaging, and I work towards building a good relationship with my students, encouraging them to ask questions without any hesitation. I make sure that my students are comfortable with me by building a friendly and trusting relationship; I believe this enables my students to feel easy and allows them to ask me many questions, which leads to a better learning experience.

I adapt my approach depending on my students' learning style as I feel this is the key to successful teaching. I have had a range of different students, from those who were demotivated and disengaged, to those who needed me for that extra help to reach their goals.

Past papers is a very important part of my lessons, once I am able to cover the concepts and theories of the subject I swiftly turn the attention of my pupils to past papers. I believe practising these papers are definitely the best way of achieving great exam results.

I OFFER DISCOUNTS FOR MULTIPLE HOURS OF TUITION.

Personal Description:
I am currently a second year student at the University of Bath, studying for a Masters in Aerospace Engineering. I have achieved great academic results at A-Level from Wallingford Sixth Form.

I do a lot of sport, such as squash, kickboxing and cycling, and I am also musical, playing acoustic and electric guitar.

I should be available for tutoring during term time, but due to the workload of my course, some weeks I will be unavailable.

Teaching Experience:

I have limited experience in tutoring but i have helped course mates frequently when they do not understand the curriculum or haven`t understood the method that the lecturer uses. I tend to find that changing the technique of teaching a subject allows you to understand it better.

I also helped friends and family who are studying A-levels in maths, further maths and physics.

Tutoring Approach:

I'm very patient with tutees and take the time to make sure they learn the topic subject thoroughly. As I said before, I tend to vary my methods of teaching if the tutee doesn't understand how i'm teaching it. I also think it is a better learning environment if the session has a specific plan in mind but is informal enough to allow the tutee to query anything that they don't fully understand.

Personal Description:
I graduated from the London School of Economics in 2005 with a Bsc in Government and Politics (2:1). I then worked in the public sector, and later in supported housing, until 2013 when I began a PGCE in Primary Education at Manchester Metropolitan University. During the PGCE I worked in schools in Stockport and Tameside and was graded as Outstanding for my teaching practice. I completed the PGCE in June 2014 and will begin working as a Year 5 teacher at a school in Central Manchester in September.

I cover the whole curriculum with a particular focus on numeracy and literacy.

Teaching Experience:

During the PGCE I worked as a Year 5 teacher at a school in Stockport and as a Year 3 teacher in Tameside, for four months in both instances. I was awarded Outstanding for my teaching practice at the end of the PGCE. I also volunteered as a classroom assistant across key stages one and two prior to starting the PGCE. I will start working as a Year 5 teacher in September and have begun planning for the new National Curriculum which is effective from the new academic year.

Tutoring Approach:

I work with the tutee and parent to identify strengths and areas for improvement. I then develop a programme of study that is specific to the tutee's needs and which draws on the tutee's preferred style of learning. This can involve practical work, use of multimedia and investigations. I use informal assessment within sessions, and formal assessment afterwards, to record progress which can then be fed back to the tutee and parent. This assessment for learning, and assessment of learning, feeds into planning for future sessions and ensures that learning is personalised and relevant.

I strive to ensure that each tutee makes Outstanding progress within each session and I believe that an ongoing dialogue between myself, the tutee and the parent is fundamental to achieving this.

I like to think of myself as someone who sees the positives in life. I try to keep learning new things and inspiring others to do the same. I have travelled to many countries and experienced how children learn in different settings. I am very friendly, easy -going and very patient when teaching both children and adults. I believe that when you believe in yourself and have a dream, anything is possible. My motto: Work hard, dream big.

I have an A level in Maths graded A and tutored my sister through her GCSE Additional Maths where she achieved a A.

Tutoring Approach:

My teaching style is very much about getting you to have a firm understanding of the subject being studied. I use various techniques including visual aids, physical activities and clear descriptions. I try to cover the necessary areas of the curriculum and focus on areas where there is a lack of understanding. I am very patient and will use different strategies including games to help in the learning process.
