| Personal Description: I am a friendly and cheerful individual who has just finished studying the LPC at the College of Law in Moorgate. In 2008, I graduated from the University of St.Andrews with a 2:1 in Ancient History. Whilst it was my intention to pursue a career in law , I have decided to redirect my career towards teaching which I consider to be a more rewarding career. It is my intention to apply for the 2011 PGCE course this autumn. I would therefore like to use the opportunity of becoming a tutor to gain more experience and help students. Learning should not be dull, and I would strive to tutor in a clear but positive way. |
Teaching Experience: This would be my first tutoring role but having been a student for the last six years both at undergraduate and postgraduate level, I have developed excellent communication and presentation skills. From my law studies, I have been taught to tailor communication to suit a client. This skill would be directly transferrable to teaching. My experience as a student would also help me to relate to students and create a supportive learning environment. As an approachable person, I would like students to be at ease and ask any questions they may have. Whilst at university, I helped coach younger players in the University Ladies' Cricket Club and was a university ambassador. Both these roles gave me some experience in encouraging others to succeed and overcome weaknesses. |
Tutoring Approach: Whilst I have not tutored before, I have had considerable experience helping individuals from past law work experience at city law firms, and have fresh insight as to what it is like being a student .I would be free to help an individual with tuition starting from the middle of September . Whilst at St Andrews University , I did modules in History of Art, Philosophy, Ethics and Philosophy of Religion so would be comfortable teaching up until first year of university in these subjects. Having studied Ancient History , I would also be willing to assist with classical studies whether it be on the works of Homer or Petronious . In addition to this, at A-level I studied modern, medieval and georgian history. For English, I would be happy to help with English literature. I averaged 73% at St.Andrews University where I completed two semesters of English literature. Whether a student needs a boost before a forthcoming examination or help on a particular topic, I would do my upmost to ensure that the student is reassured. I could also offer tutoring for those doing A-level law. |

| Personal Description: I am 25, I have a degree in Politics and Sociology and have since completed a Graduate Diploma in Law and a Legal Practice Course. I achieved a Distinction grade for both of my legal courses. I have a training contract with a leading City law firm which is due to start in March 2011. |
Teaching Experience: I used to tutor French to 10/11 year-olds. I had a number of clients and helped them to get their language skills up to the level required by the schools that they were hoping to get into. |
Tutoring Approach: My approach is interactive rather than prescriptive. I help the tutee with anything they are having problems with and then encourage them to answer a question without my help as I feel that this is the best way of learning. Once they have done this I discuss their answer and show them what was good and bad about it and how they can improve. I then encourage the tutee to go over what we did over the next week and at the start of the next session I quickly go over it to check that they have learnt it correctly. |

| Personal Description: I have recently completed a Master's degree in Criminology, for which I achieved a Distinction. This degree has covered a wide range of topics and touched upon many subject areas, particularly psychology and law, as well as sociological concepts which have been relevant throughout most of my academic study. I achieved a 2:1 in my undergraduate degree in Social Policy (BA Hons) at the University of Birmingham. This degree consisted of a psychology module, law module, and sociology module amongst the core module areas of social policy and government studies. My a-level subjects were psychology(a), religion and ethics(a), english literature(a). My research interests lie in criminology, with a specific interest in victimisation and international crime. |
Teaching Experience: I have no formal teaching experience as I have remained in the academic field since high school. I have taught many relatives and friends however, who are preparing for a levels. |
Tutoring Approach: I would like potential students to email me details of their curriculum and any areas of difficulty they are encountering. If this is done, I can bring the necessary materials to each session. The student's input will be vital for the tuition to be effective, and so I will encourage students to email me outside of lessons and I will endeavour to email back the same day when they are experiencing any work issues. I will encourage plenty of exam paper practice, timed essays and wide reading around the subject. I am very prepared and efficient, and will make the most of tuition time so that it is valuable and beneficial for the student. I am reliable, and so will not cancel unexpectedly or expect to take a day off on my own accord, and will contact the student if difficulty attending the session is encountered. |

| Personal Description: I am currently a second year law student at the University of Newcastle, working towards being a barrister. My exam results and coursework are at a 2:1 standard and I am in the top third of my year. I recently won the Client Interviewing competition out of 150 students in the law school and for this achievement my name was placed on the honour board. Before coming to university I worked in a highly pressurised environment in central London and developed my communication skills with people of a range of calibres. I have played the piano since the age of eleven and achieved a grade six standard which led on to several solo and accompaniment performances in school concerts. This combined with public speaking at large events such as prize givings and school elections has increased my confidence, improved my debating skills and poise. I played cricket for Hertfordshire County and Bishop's Stortford town for several years until knee injuries interrupted my participation. I hope to return to cricket when possible. I achieved first place in javelin at District Athletics, the Nikki Morris challenge and Queenswood tournament and I have participated in sports teams throughout my time at school In my spare time I juggle, play chess and write, I am currently writing a stage adaptation to 1984. |
Teaching Experience: I spent 4 months working in a temporary post as an art technician and teaching and special needs assistant. During my senior year at school I spent several of my free periods assisting a special needs child during his science lessons, helping him with reading, writing and maintaining his focus. I myself have a brother with special needs and I helped him with his English and history work in out of school hours. |
Tutoring Approach: I believe in the value of patience. If a child does not understand something then I adopt a different approach of conveying information until they understand in full detail. Tutoring is one to one, a child should get the special attention that they deserve with the subject matter tailored in a way that they can connect with. I believe in bringing a subject to life with passion and enthusiasm, usually a subject is only as interesting as its teacher. With the subjects that I offer I place great emphasis on the structure of written work, a skill that once learnt will certainly achieve better grades and will develop useful skills in all walks of life e.g. analytical thinking and communication. |

| Personal Description: I have just completed an LLB (Law) Degree with the University of London. I was an external student, which means that I studied from home with no help from tutors etc. and sat the same exams as internal University of London students. This required a great deal of organisation and commitment. I have learnt a variety of study techniques, but it is time management that I have found to be key. I originally set out to do an art degree but my plans changed! I am still, however, very much active when it comes to painting and various other techniques. I would describe myself as a conscientious, hardworking person who is always sensitive to a person's individual needs. |
Teaching Experience: I have no previous experience of tutoring, however I have facilitated small group discussions and debates. I have also helped numerous friends who struggled with writing essays and have been a student mentor for new secondary school students. |
Tutoring Approach: I enjoy working on a one-to-one basis, giving the student my full attention and energy. I would aim to help the student to reach their full potential by helping them to identify their strengths and weaknesses, and motivating them through encouragement. I also consider it important to set (realistic) goals. I would work through the areas that the student struggled with, and also keep track of the school's syllabus and what is being undertaken in the school lessons. |

| Personal Description: I am an academician by profession. Since I started my professional career as a tutor, at my law college, and gradually I went up to top management, I fully understand the need and worth of personal tuition to law students. I believe in hard work and not intelligence alone. That's why I emphasize every student , to take studies very seriously. I did my LL.M from University of Cambridge, UK. I strongly believe that every student can get a good grade, if he/she is being given proper guidance by the teacher. It is always merit of the teacher that is reflected in any student's grades or merit. I am very well aware of students difficulties in understanding lectures, preparing assignments or to sit in exams. |
Teaching Experience: More than 13 Years teaching experience in the field of legal education. I am providing home tuition and giving online help for the last seven years. |
Tutoring Approach: I understand that if a student needs personal tuition it means something more than just a lecture. I believe that every student must be given individual attention and it is equal responsibility of the teacher and student to work hard for a better understanding of the subject. I take tuition at home and first I help students in basic understanding of concepts and then I take them to second step and discuss with them their understanding of the topic. Then if they need help in exam preparation I teach them basic techniques and methodology to answering exam questions, prepare model answers and guide them thoroughly. I help them in essay writing and assessment work. In assignment making , in particular , students usually need writing skills and techniques lessons. I even guide them in writing research articles, and making presentations in the class. In Online Tuition I help in essay writing, assignments completion and preparing presentations. The main objective is that students can meet their work submission deadlines and make their presentation skills better with my help. |

| Personal Description: I have recently completed the Bar Vocational Course in London and am due to begin my path to a legal career as a Barrister, I remember how hard some subjects and some points of the courses could be so I have decided to assist others that are currently going through that stage. Law is my main subject which I studied at A-Level, University and then the BVC. I am a 23 year old English female but am willing to teach individuals of all ages and backgrounds. |
Teaching Experience: I have always obtained high marks in all exams, in fact I have never failed an academic exam. I have a younger brother and sister and have tutored them and numerous of their friends during the SATs GCSEs and AS Levels. I am confident in saying that all that I have taught have seen an improvement in their results. |
Tutoring Approach: My approach will depend on the level and needs of the individual, I am able to establish at the first study session what may suit the individual the best and then adapt my approach to tailor to your need. I tend to use daily examples to understand tasks rather than using just texts and written explanations as I feel it can often make some matters confusing. However, the approach I do take is to be sure that the individual also fully understands and completes task and subject areas themselves - my role is to assist and not to spoon feed. |
