Personal Description:
I am a fully qualified and experienced teacher of Modern Foreign Languages. I have taught in a school near Wakefield for 8 years and have been a private tutor for two years. I am a very enthusiastic and approachable teacher. I can offer languages teaching in French, Spanish, German, Italian and Japanese. I offer teaching at all levels: primary languages, with a view to possibly taking GCSE examinations early, Key stage 3, GCSE, iGCSE, AS and A2 levels and adult languages classes. I have experience in all areas of languages teaching and I throughly enjoy teaching languages!

I believe that everyone should have the opportunity to take the language of their choice. Therefore, I am happy to offer to help students take a GCSE or A level in a language which may not be available in their school. I can help with assessments and speaking tests in addition to a high standard of tuition to learn the language at the desired level and beyond.

I am currently learning Chinese as it has always interested me and as a teacher, I know that I need to remember what it is like to be a language learner!

References are available upon request.

Teaching Experience:

I have a PGCE qualification in Modern Languages and as part of my studies, I taught in two schools in North Yorkshire. I have been a teacher in a Specialist Language College near Wakefield for 8 years and a private tutor for 2 years. As a teacher in a Specialist Language College, I have taught KS3 and GCSE languages in addition to working in the community, teaching languages at local Primary Schools and carrying out Adult language classes.

For my private tuition, I have taught many A-level students in addition to primary students, GCSE students and adult learners. I have found this to be very interesting to see how people learn in different ways and develop their confidence in learning a new language or gaining extra support for language learning.

Tutoring Approach:

As a tutor, I always check to see what level each student is at in the first lesson. All lessons are tailored to the students' needs so they can get the most out of learning a language. I recommend useful resources and I am happy to lend books and DVDs from the extensive range of resources I have built up as a result of tutees' wishes. I have an excellent knowledge of the national curriculum and exam specifications of all the boards and I keep up-to-date with the many changes which may occur in education.

I look at all language skills although I may focus on one or two particular areas if this is what the tutee needs (such as listening and speaking if exams were not to be taken). I use ICT in my lessons and use many different websites and encourage students to use these at home and I help with grammar, even if it is the basics, as an understanding of this is essential to learning a language successfully!

I set homework tasks each week for students and I also offer a 'mid lesson service', where students can Skype or Phone so that I can check on progress or answer any questions. A quick chat in the target language is fine too! This service is free. I am also happy to answer any texts on the language- that is what I'm here for!

All new students are welcome. I always answer all requests so please also check spam folders just in case!

merci, gracias, grazie, danke, arigatou!

Personal Description:
I am a recent graduate of Japanese from the University of Leeds, where I studied both Japanese language and culture. As part of my degree I was able to study at a University in Tokyo for a year, and I also lived there teaching English on my gap year. I love Japan and really enjoyed living in such an amazing country. I want to open the door for others to learn Japanese and be able to go there and fulfil their dreams too.

Teaching Experience:

I have experience of teaching both Japanese to English speakers and English to Japanese speakers. I have been tutoring privately since 2012, for students ranging from GCSE age up to adults wanting to develop their language skills.
Before that I taught a Japanese course for GCSE students at a secondary school in Castleford, near Leeds, while I was doing my degree. We covered basic conversation, grammar and writing skills, and by the end of the course my students were able to hold basic conversations and use key vocabulary and phrases confidently.
I taught one-to-one business English at Gaba, a highly-regarded school in Tokyo, on my gap year, and on my year abroad I taught conversational English at Tokyo Women's Christian University, and also to private students.
All these experiences have given me insight into how to tailor lessons to the individual needs of students and how to teach effectively and helpfully.

Tutoring Approach:

I absolutely love teaching Japanese, and I think that's because I love studying Japanese. When I teach I create a comfortable and relaxed atmosphere where there is no pressure, so the student and I can talk and study naturally. Making mistakes is how you learn, so I encourage my students to try their best, even if they are not confident, and then we can review any mistakes that were made. I believe that grammatical and written skills should be developed hand-in-hand with speaking practice, so I will provide thorough tutoring in all areas of language learning. I am very friendly, and am a good listener. I endeavour to help students achieve their goals, and all I ask in return is that you try your best.

Personal Description:
I am a Japanese national who has completed three Japanese language beginners courses (10 weeks each) as a language instructor at colleges based in Liverpool and Manchester. In a formal course review exercise, I received excellent ratings from my college students with respect to the various teaching components of the course.

I am adept at recognising how best to target my teaching approach, particularly with respect to students who have little or no knowledge of the Japanese language using my fluency in verbal and written English and Japanese.

My teaching experience includes 18 months as a language instructor to college students in Japan, in one-to-one, and group teaching as an employee at a language school. In addition, I was employed in the Japan university sector as a translator of English to Japanese and vice versa, and as a business translator involving UK and Japanese companies. I therefore have language teaching experience acquired over several years in various settings.

My doctoral degree is sociology-based supporting the teacher-student interaction for making solid progress in learning.

Teaching Experience:

30 weeks in beginners Japanese at language colleges in Liverpool and Manchester
12 months providing English language instruction to college students in Japan
18 months English-Japanese language translator at a Japanese University
UK-Japanese business language interpreter and translator
Multiple students taught in private sessions from a wide background that includes the military, police, teachers, business professionals, university and college students, and other backgrounds.
Online tutoring for six months both in groups and individuals. HD video camera/microphone.

Tutoring Approach:

I can provide personal tutoring and group tutoring as required in a large classroom specially set-up for teaching with an approachable and friendly style to engage students in fully comprehending an unfamiliar language. Tuition is provided in verbal and written Japanese using language props as an aid to understanding, with textbooks and specialist Hiragana teaching materials. I have excellent whiteboard writing skills and I am comfortable at teaching in both formal and less formal surroundings. Tuition can be arranged on a regular or irregular timetable according to the needs of the particular student(s).

Personal Description:
Three quarters of British adults can't speak another language... Don't be one of them.
Start the new year with a resolution to learn Japanese or Chinese!

I grew up in Japan, and have worked there for 1 year, and 2 years in Taiwan, so I have a good command of Japanese and Mandarin. I have the advantage over native speakers of having mastered them as a foreign language for myself, so I know from experience how to teach it.

I enjoy spending time with people, teaching, and passing on whatever knowledge I have, helping them improve their potential.

Teaching Experience:

2 years teaching teaching Japanese and Chinese to students one-to-one, and in small groups, from 5 years old to adult. I have also taught some lessons for the Japan Foundation in London.
1 year teaching in a Senior High School in Japan
2 years teaching in a Language school in Taiwan.
2 months teaching in Brighton.
2 years teaching one to one English.
Over 10 years as a language learner, so I have been in your shoes, and can share the innovative techniques and memorization methods I've used.

Tutoring Approach:

Student of Chinese said, "Ali tailored the lessons very well and ensured that learning Chinese from scratch was not intimidating. The resources were excellent with varied activities, and there was a lot of out of classroom support. I have enjoyed the lessons immensely and it has inspired me to continue learning Chinese. I would wholeheartedly recommend Ali as a teacher."
I will help you with your reading, writing, speaking, and listening, and have tricks to help you remember the written scripts easily.
With years of experience teaching foreign languages, I tailor your lessons to your needs, learning style, interests, and goals. I use varied resources, activities and role-plays allowing maximum participation, and an enjoyable, and effective learning environment.
Please contact me for more information, or more testimonies.

Teaching Experience:

I have taught for just over 20 years. I teach Sociology, Anthropology and the Japanese language for A-levels and GSCE, and I also mentor undergrads, MA`s and PhD students. I help with essays, exams, dissertation writing, managing studies schedule, research techniques, etc.

I am also a certified Cross-Cultural Trainer, I coach business people on the practical aspects of doing business with the Japanese.

Subjects covered: Anthropology, Sociology, Cultural Studies, Media and Communication Studies, Area Studies, Psychosocial Studies, etc.

For language learning, I have a sure-fire time-tested approach that has served me and my students well for over 20 years: comprehensive learning materials to make sure all bases are covered, a study schedule with clear goals to gauge your own progress, and tailor-made supervision to help you keep up with the ups and downs of language learning.

I also help undergrads, Master`s and junior PhD students through essays, dissertation and exams. Along with helping my sister, who has Aspergers, I am more than happy to cater for students that might need a bit of extra help, and have current experience teaching students with Aspergers, Personality Disorder, and depression.

Following uni, I spent nearly 2 years teaching English as a foreign language in Japan. Whilst in Japan, I also learnt how to speak conversational Japanese, and can also read and write hiragana, katakana, and first-grade level kanji. I now tutor English and Japanese, and have registered my own language services company that will provide courses in Japanese and English as a foreign language aimed at those wishing to pass their UK citizenship exam. Private English and Japanese lessons are also being run as usual.

I welcome any students with special needs; I have vast experience in the Psychological field and work well with anyone who needs that little bit of extra help and attention! I also work great with kids who need help boosting their English and Maths at school- in the last year one of my 5-year-old student's grades have gone from below average to excellent in their school report.

I'm currently teaching in the Northamptonshire area, however I may be able to accommodate for students in Leicester and Peterborough, please contact me for further details on this.

Please note: if you would like me to teach at your home or meet somewhere public, I do charge extra to cover my travel costs (30p per mile) with a minimum £6 travel charge.

Teaching Experience:

My teaching experience includes the 2 years I spent teaching English as a foreign language in Japan, where I designed the yearly teaching schedules, lesson plans, and then taught the lessons. My students were from the age of 3 to 65, so I have experience in teaching all ages. Whilst in Japan I also taught beginner's Japanese to foreigners living in my local area.

Since returning to England in 2013 I've been tutoring English and Japanese full time; I have also been teaching one of my younger students English, Math, and other related subjects required for primary school. I currently have more than 10 students learning Japanese 1-to-1 and relish the challenges and individuality between each new student.

At university I volunteered for several groups including an activity group for disadvantaged children, assisting in secondary school classrooms, volunteering at the local mental health unit and volunteering as a charity shop assistant.

Prior to this, I often tutored my younger sister (who has Asperger's Syndrome) and helped her to understand her school work. I have also clocked up countless hours of babysitting for parents around the local area.

Tutoring Approach:

For teaching English as a foreign language, or when teaching Japanese, I believe a fun, active approach is the most effective. A short amount of time is spent drilling sentences and words; but then these new words and phrases should be used in role plays, games, or challenges to make the new vocabulary stick.

When teaching English, debates about the subject material cause important points to be remembered, help students to structure their arguments more clearly, and let students consider what the most important points are and consider counter arguments. Games for younger children and a variety of different activities to help enforce new vocabulary and sentences are also important.

Personal Description:
I'm a young, enthusiastic individual currently reading English Literature at the University of Exeter. My qualifications reflect my interests and hobbies, but I am also keenly interested in other cultures, and enjoy travel. I will be graduating in summer 2015. For the last two years, I have been learning Japanese and will be graduating 'with proficiency in' the language. I was lucky enough to visit Tokyo last year. I have also been accepted onto a Masters course at SOAS in London, to read Japanese Studies with Intensive Japanese.

Teaching Experience:

I have experience working with younger children, having been a prefect at two different schools. With French in particular, however, I am used to helping classmates, particularly in allowing them to practise their spoken French. Presentation and communication skills were a big part of all of my A-Level subjects, and are extremely important in my degree, so I have a wealth of experience in how to make subjects interesting for anyone! During the last two years of my undergraduate degree, I was also a PASS mentor for younger students at the university, helping them with their Critical Theory module by stimulating discussion and explaining more difficult concepts.

Tutoring Approach:

It's definitely cliché to say that every child learns differently, but I think that it is definitely true! Having just come out of the schooling system, what worked best is fresh in my mind. I would definitely encourage online learning and practice, as well as more creative exercises as far as possible, particularly for younger children. For more advanced qualifications, I know the importance of correctly interpreting mark schemes, as well as covering the entirety of the syllabus. I'd be happy to help you get a head start over the summer, or simply revise and consolidate what you learnt last year.

Personal Description:
I began having Japanese lessons at school when I was eleven years old and continued to study the language for a further seven years. I completed GCSE Japanese- A* and GCE A Level Japanese-B before coming to the University of Leeds to study BA Japanese and Philosophy.
I have been lucky enough to have visited Osaka as an exchange student during my A-Level studies and also to have co-hosted an exchange student. These experiences were key in making me want to pursue learning Japanese as well as teach others about the language and culture.

Teaching Experience:

I have taught beginner Japanese lessons in primary schools and at my previous school supported secondary students with their Japanese studies. During my time in Japan I was able to assist Japanese friends at school with their learning of English as well as teach my host family key English phrases.

Tutoring Approach:

I believe that learning a new language should be interactive and enjoyable. I encourage students to get stuck in and be prepared to learn from mistakes in order to develop a thorough understanding and sound knowledge of Japanese. The benefit of studying Japanese creatively and through the use of games, flashcards and evaluative quizzes is a relaxed approach to study and in my experience, steady achievement.

Like any language, when learning Japanese, practice makes perfect so lessons are at a pace ideal for the student in order to maximize progress. A balanced approach to both writing, reading and speaking are essential so I am keen to deliver a variety of exercises in lessons.

Most importantly I want students to enjoy learning Japanese as much as I love to teach it.

Personal Description:
Fully qualified teacher of Japanese and Russian languages (all levels).

I prepare students for GCSE and A-level exams, as well as assess exam results for colleges. I also assist students with all levels of JLPT (Japanese Language Proficiency Test) and TRKI (The Test of Russian as a Foreign Language).
I currently teach private individuals, groups, as well as some government organisations and corporate entities.

Being native in Russian, and an expert in the Japanese & English languages, I am acutely aware of the differences between English & Japanese and English & Russian languages, their specific capabilities, nuances and requirements.
I focus on teaching methods that are designed to make learning interactive and fun. I have developed my own strategy for delivering concise and meaningful learning methods to my students to assist their understanding. I enjoy teaching languages; it gives my students an opportunity to communicate with new people and expand their world.

I obtained a Master's Degree in diplomacy/international relations at a top-ranking Moscow University of International Relations (MGIMO) with Japanese and English languages.

In 2000 I undertook the internationally recognised Japanese Language Proficiency Test (JLPT) achieving a 'Level 1' pass (the highest attainable level).
From 2000 until 2010 I lived in Japan, and worked in a senior position for a leading Japanese technology company in Tokyo. During this time it afforded me an excellent 'real world' understanding of the Japanese language, its nuances and the fascinating Japanese culture.

Teaching Experience:

I have been teaching Russian and Japanese languages for about 5 years.
References can be provided.

Tutoring Approach:

I offer tutoring on Japanese and Russian languages for all levels from beginner to advanced.
