| Personal Description: I am currently a student in Politics & International Relations, however, my true passion lies in Philosophy and History and English literature. Therefore I would enthusiastically tutor in any of these subject area as I have an extensive knowledge about most of them. I am very easy going, and have many other interests such as music(guitar) and like to indulge in creative writing form time to time. I am very open minded and would not take any criticism badly, and my main personal idea is that of making sure of talking to all on an equal level, with dignity and respect. While all this may seem serious, I am also a fan of making studies more interactive and (let use the word) "fun" which I found often is a great way to make people embrace and remember the subject much better. |
Teaching Experience: I have not "officially"* taught anything yet, however, I am a very social and communicative person and take my subjects/studies very seriously and passionately. My intent is to move on to teaching/lecturing once I graduate. *I have not been paid to tutor but have done so. (I was a Peer Mentor at my University.) |
Tutoring Approach: I will suit any need, all you need to do is tell me where and what it is that you want to focus on and I will provide a specific set of topics and other interlinking ideas and topics of various different study areas in order to give a better understanding of the subject by establishing connections with other disciplines. Especially in the study of History I have found that it is extremely important to be involved and immersed deeply in the subject and the era/area of study, meaning that I would make sure to try and make it as interactive and visual as possible to get a better feeling of the nature of each topic, suggesting additional reading and other sources to indulge in, this has thus far proved extremely useful and incredibly rewarding in the past. |

| Personal Description: I am currently a student at the University of Glasgow, studying veterinary medicine. Throughout the course of my life i was moved from one country to the next due to my parents job, in doing this I learned many languages and learned a lot about different kinds of people and different teaching techniques as every school had its own methods of teaching. |
Teaching Experience: While I was living in Tokyo, Japan, I got into teaching English to Japanese kids as part of an after school activity for pocket money. I became very interested in teaching as I watched their progression through the different levels in the program. After working with these kids, I began helping out in maths and sciences tutoring for younger kids that were struggling with their courses. |
Tutoring Approach: I myself occasionally struggled to get to grips with a few of the topics included in the international baccalaureate degree. I found that the best option was for me to go back to the basics and re-structure my knowledge on the topic thus finding where my learning problem was and defeating it. Then, in order to apply my knowledge to test questions I continued to go over past papers and to write exams questions out. In teaching, I found that the same techniques are useful and valuable to students. |

| Personal Description: I graduated from Salford University with a 2.1 honours degree in Spanish, Italian and German. During my degree, I lived in Spain, Germany and Italy working as a translator and in customer service. After graduating, I completed a PGCE in Modern Foreign Languages and currently teach Spanish, French and Italian in a Secondary School. I enjoy working with my pupils and strive to make sure every child reaches their full potential. |
Teaching Experience: I have 2 years teaching experience in Secondary schools, teaching German, Spanish, French and Italian. I also have tutored adults on an individual basis in Spanish and German. At present, I visit local primary schools to teach Spanish. |
Tutoring Approach: I believe pupils learn best when they enjoy language learning, therefore I aim to make sure every lesson is fun and informative. It is important to me that pupils also learn about the culture of the country, and I feel this often makes languages learning more exciting and gives pupils a real insight into how they can use the language after school. I believe in today's age it is very important to use IT in lessons, and everyone of my lessons is prepared on power point, so pupils can use the lesson to refer back to when completing work at home. I also feel pupils learn best when they can practice language through games, and have a variety of on-line and paper games for pupils to use. |

| Personal Description: I have just graduated from the University of Glasgow. I would like to use the skills I have gained to help others to improve on and enjoy French and Italian. I am very friendly, cheerful and easy to get on with. |
Teaching Experience: I spent 7 months in the South of France with The British Council teaching English to primary school children. This experience enabled me to create and implement new and effective teaching methods. I really enjoyed working with children but I would also love to have the chance to work with students of all ages. |
Tutoring Approach: I believe it is important to have a good tutor-student relationship and I therefore like to create a calm atmosphere where the student feels at ease. I would help the students to come up with a lesson plan which covers the topics they would like to do and which is at the correct level of difficulty. |

| Personal Description: I have an excellent general arts education, with a Master's in History of Art and Italian from Trinity College, Dublin. I also have a PGCE from the University of London, and a Diploma in Rural Development from QUB. I have taught History of Art and Art to A-level standard, and am competent in French, English and History. |
Teaching Experience: I have had only 2 years full time teaching experience, and another one year 'subbing'. My full-time job was in The King's School, Ely, Cambs. For 20 years I was caretaker of an historic monument, and in that role did quite a lot of school visit teaching of history. |
Tutoring Approach: I have done a little tutoring, mainly of Italian, and try to achieve a balance of a relaxed atmosphere with measurable output. I like both tutor and tutee to be able to boast of a visible improvement. To this end I do tend to 'knuckle down' from day one. But I use humour and art to lighten the work! |

| Personal Description: I speak 5 languages and would love to help anyone in learning a language. |
Teaching Experience: I have taught English to children in primary schools in Portugal for a year and taught Portuguese to adults. I've also taught English to adults in language schools in Poland. |
Tutoring Approach: The first time I tutored I was 12. I did it also more recently and generally have found that most of the times the person only needs to hear a different and more personalised way of explaining a subject. |

| Personal Description: I am a third year student at the University of Bradford. This year i will be finishing my degree in International Relations. I was born and raised in Italy in a bilingual environment (my father being Italian, my mother a Slovene who has spent most of her life in Germany), and spent 7 years in Austria attending an international high school. Italian, Slovenian and German are therefore all first languages to me. Apart from my studies, a further passion of mine is the guitar. I have been playing the instrument for almost ten years now, having recently joined a few bands in Bradford. I play classical, acoustic as well as electric guitar. |
Teaching Experience: I have previously taught Italian and German to people of various ages, from children to adults, who wanted to learn the language in a relaxed and stimulating way. I have also been giving occasional guitar lessons to children eager to learn the basics of guitar playing in an informal and fun way. |
Tutoring Approach: I have a very broad approach to tutoring, usually valuating the needs of my tutees and structuring the lessons based on their requests. I like to keep the tutoring process informal thus facilitating the tutor - tutee relationship and create a relaxed atmosphere where everybody participates and contributes to the lesson with pleasure and confidence. When it comes to learning the guitar, I believe that, especially for children, the instrument should be seen as a form of fun, socialising and expression. My lessons are therefore based on teaching the basics of accompaniment and improvisation in informal sessions that aim at making the tutee fully enjoy the learning process. |

| Personal Description: I studied a Primary Teaching Degree in Australia and then taught years two and six in the lead up to SATS exams. I also have a number of other degrees and for a time I worked as a supply teacher all over London learning different teaching methods and ideas from the range of schools I worked in. I also teach dance at a number of private dancing schools. |
Teaching Experience: Secondary Dance and Drama Year 2 Reception Year 6 Many years of supply teaching |
Tutoring Approach: Every person, both adult and child, appraoches learning differently. Some are visual learners whilst others are tactile. Some like to watch the example, then copy. For some, rote learning works best, or association games. I have encountered so many different ways in which people prefer to operate and through my experience in a wide range of schools I have learned many teaching techniques which cater for these different preferences. I like to work with a student to find their preferred and most affective method of learning. Once this is determined the results come quite quickly and the student will become confident in applying a number of key strategies which she/he knows work for her/him. |

| Personal Description: I am studying Portuguese, Spanish and History at the University of Nottingham where I have just finished my second year. I grew up bilingual in Italian and English as I am Italian and enjoy learning more about languages, therefore Portuguese and Spanish were a natural step for me to take. I am enthusiastic about languages and feel they are important for everyone to learn whether for general interest, to learn about different cultures or to improve employment opportunities. I am a highly people orientated person. I enjoy meeting new people and understanding different points of view. This has been a strong part of my interest of language and subsequently travel. I am an active person who enjoys sports, going out with friends, current affairs, reading and travelling. |
Teaching Experience: I tutored a year 8 pupil last summer (2008) for a month before I returned to Nottingham with the start of my university second year. |
Tutoring Approach: The main benefit I bring outside my experience with language is my enthusiasm for them and the fact that as a student myself I offer a different approach than the classroom teacher. I found this helpful in retaining my interest in languages when I was in school and I think that kids would find me more approachable in the way I found my Spanish assistant in school more fun and easier to relate to when I was in school. I like to use film and music as a learning tool as people generally relate to these better. However I also recognise the importance of grammar and being a student myself have developed methods I still use to understand it more easily and in greater depth. The most important thing in languages is relating to them and developing the motivation to learn them, the methods around this come easily with some guidance motivation is created. |
