Tutoring Approach:
I will suit any need, all you need to do is tell me where and what it is that you want to focus on and I will provide a specific set of topics and other interlinking ideas and topics of various different study areas in order to give a better understanding of the subject by establishing connections with other disciplines.

Especially in the study of History I have found that it is extremely important to be involved and immersed deeply in the subject and the era/area of study, meaning that I would make sure to try and make it as interactive and visual as possible to get a better feeling of the nature of each topic, suggesting additional reading and other sources to indulge in, this has thus far proved extremely useful and incredibly rewarding in the past.

I am currently a student at the University of Glasgow, studying veterinary medicine. Throughout the course of my life i was moved from one country to the next due to my parents job, in doing this I learned many languages and learned a lot about different kinds of people and different teaching techniques as every school had its own methods of teaching.

While I was living in Tokyo, Japan, I got into teaching English to Japanese kids as part of an after school activity for pocket money. I became very interested in teaching as I watched their progression through the different levels in the program. After working with these kids, I began helping out in maths and sciences tutoring for younger kids that were struggling with their courses.

Tutoring Approach:
I myself occasionally struggled to get to grips with a few of the topics included in the international baccalaureate degree. I found that the best option was for me to go back to the basics and re-structure my knowledge on the topic thus finding where my learning problem was and defeating it. Then, in order to apply my knowledge to test questions I continued to go over past papers and to write exams questions out. In teaching, I found that the same techniques are useful and valuable to students.

Personal Description:

Teaching Experience:
I spent 7 months in the South of France with The British Council teaching English to primary school children. This experience enabled me to create and implement new and effective teaching methods. I taught a 24 hrs evening module at intermediate level

I offered private lesson to 24 students in 5 years (8 of the students were mature students who needed to learn Italian for work)

Moreover, In University College Cork I attended post-graduate modules such as Didattica dell'italiano, a course which covered theories as well as techniques and practice for the teaching of Italian as a second language to the adult learner, with the aim of achieving student understanding of the target language.

I am a third year student at the University of Bradford. This year i will be finishing my degree in International Relations. I was born and raised in Italy in a bilingual environment (my father being Italian, my mother a Slovene who has spent most of her life in Germany), and spent 7 years in Austria attending an international high school. Italian, Slovenian and German are therefore all first languages to me.
Apart from my studies, a further passion of mine is the guitar. I have been playing the instrument for almost ten years now, having recently joined a few bands in Bradford. I play classical, acoustic as well as electric guitar.

Teaching Experience:
I have previously taught Italian and German to people of various ages, from children to adults, who wanted to learn the language in a relaxed and stimulating way. I have also been giving occasional guitar lessons to children eager to learn the basics of guitar playing in an informal and fun way.

Tutoring Approach:
I have a very broad approach to tutoring, usually valuating the needs of my tutees and structuring the lessons based on their requests. I like to keep the tutoring process informal thus facilitating the tutor - tutee relationship and create a relaxed atmosphere where everybody participates and contributes to the lesson with pleasure and confidence.
When it comes to learning the guitar, I believe that, especially for children, the instrument should be seen as a form of fun, socialising and expression. For some, rote learning works best, or association games. I have encountered so many different ways in which people prefer to operate and through my experience in a wide range of schools I have learned many teaching techniques which cater for these different preferences. I like to work with a student to find their preferred and most affective method of learning. Once this is determined the results come quite quickly and the student will become confident in applying a number of key strategies which she/he knows work for her/him.

I am studying Portuguese, Spanish and History at the University of Nottingham where I have just finished my second year. I grew up bilingual in Italian and English as I am Italian and enjoy learning more about languages, therefore Portuguese and Spanish were a natural step for me to take. Teaching Experience:
I tutored a year 8 pupil last summer (2008) for a month before I returned to Nottingham with the start of my university second year.

Tutoring Approach:
The main benefit I bring outside my experience with language is my enthusiasm for them and the fact that as a student myself I offer a different approach than the classroom teacher. I found this helpful in retaining my interest in languages when I was in school and I think that kids would find me more approachable in the way I found my Spanish assistant in school more fun and easier to relate to when I was in school. I like to use film and music as a learning tool as people generally relate to these better. However I also recognise the importance of grammar and being a student myself have developed methods I still use to understand it more easily and in greater depth. The most important thing in languages is relating to them and developing the motivation to learn them, the methods around this come easily with some guidance motivation is created.
