Facts about tuition:

Your children's education is the one thing you should never settle for second best with, and with recent figures showing 40% of London student's having received Private Tuition at some point in the past - it is imperative you give your children the best chance in life by employing the best tutors.

I am not a part-time student, I am not a part-time graduate or even a part-time professional offering tutoring services. I am a qualified teacher heading up a Law Department in a Surrey Sixth Form College, and teach every day. Therefore I know the syllabus inside out, what the examiner expects, and the pedagogy of how student's learn most effectively. My prices reflect the Stirling and first-class standard of tuition offered.

My rates reflect results. I guarantee an improvement in grade and performance (sometimes evident after just several sessions.) My approach to tuition is very exam focused - especially when close to exams or resits. I don't waste time working through a chunky textbook - I work through past papers with students so they know what to expect, how to prepare, and how to get the most marks possible.

But actions speak louder than words:

One GCSE student joined me working at GCSE Mathematics Grade D/E, he hated maths and was dropping through his sets. Within only a few weeks he had jumped up a grade and by the end of the month he was achieving solid C's. Now 3 months on he is consistently achieving at GCSE grade B (and is now sitting GCSE Higher paper), he is top of his class, and realistically he will be aiming for grade A/A* in the Summer.

Another student joined me at the end of 2012. He was privately educated and was on the border of exclusion, his grades were also extremely low. Within only a month this student was off his report card, and his teachers had noticed a change in attitude and performance. Only a week ago, his report showed clear improvements across the board in both effort and achievement, and his core subjects showed a massive turn around. Behaviour had improved also.

Another student was working at GCSE Mathematics Grade D/E and he required a C in mathematics in order to get onto his College Course. The student had attended extra revision classes and had also been privately tutored but there was no significant change in his results with only 6 weeks until his exams. I tutored this student over the remaining 6 weeks. I focused on exam technique and actual specific exam content and the Student received his Grade C (Highest mark possible on Foundation paper) and was consequently accepted onto his course.

Another Privately educated student was on the Dyslexic spectrum and was struggling to meet the gateway grade C in his Mathematics GCSE. The parents had spent extensive amounts of money on private tuition and the school had put on many extra revision sessions - all to no avail. Within the first tuition slot, I had quickly relaised that the conventional teaching methods were having absolutely no effect. I had to customise my approach and actually found that getting the student to draw out the problems was the only way he could understand and remember them. Over a very short period of time (every Saturday for 5 weeks) the student easily hit the required standard and passed his GCSE maths with no issues.

Now about me:

I graduated from Nottingham Law School with a 1st Class Law Degree. My life in academia is solid: I have been a member of the "National Academy for Gifted and Talented Youth" since the age of 11; achieved 11 GCSE's (inc. A* English Literature, A* English Language A* Mathematics A*A* Science) of which my English Literature GCSE Exam mark was amongst one of the top 5 marks Nationwide; achieved 5 AS Levels and 3 A Levels (AAA) to which my marks in English Literature and History were full marks. I am a motivational, electric and honest individual, who strives to achieve the best in both myself and those around me.

Furthermore, I always aim to be a positive role model in addition to tutor.

*For all tutees who undergo initial assessment and follow the recommended course of tuition.

Teaching Experience:

I am currently teaching A-Level Law, Business and Functional Skills (English and Maths GCSE) ,at a Surrey VI Form College. I am also head of the Law Department. This means I also have a current and enhanced CRB check. My past tutoring experience is extensive and spans over 7 years. My experience derives from the many sessions of private tuition I have provided over the years, tutoring at Degree level and predominantly GCSE level (mainly mathematics and English.)

For example, at the moment I am tutoring two brothers (State School) KS3/KS4/GCSE Mathematics who are in year 10 and 8 respectively. I also mentor and tutor a year 8 boy (Whitgift Private School) across the whole syllabus. The year 10 tutee jumped from achieving a grade D/E in the foundation Maths Paper to achieving 100% on the Foundation Papers (a Grade C) and later achieving a grade B in his intermediate Maths Paper (within 3 months.) We aim to achieve an A* on the higher paper for his actual exam. The Whitgift educated tutee was originally tutored 2 hours a week (originally intended for one month) but after clear improvements across the board (both academic and behavioural) this was doubled to 4 hours a week and has continued indefinitely.

Taking into account all my past (7 years worth) and present tutees - I have taught both genders at every age (8 - 18) across all my subject specialisms. This gives me extensive private tuition experience. This comes at a premium in our profession, and is generally more valued than even the most impressive educational background or academic achievements.

My most recent degree level tutee (mature student) describes me as providing a "unique, interesting and intuitive tutoring experience" and assures me from her experience that a tutor in the very heart of academia is all the more useful to a tutee than an old Cambridge professor completely out of touch with a modern syllabus. I also recently tutored and mentored a Saudi Prince through the first year of his Law Degree at Nottingham Law School and he stated he couldn't have done this "without me." I am used to teaching students who have English as a second language, students with learning difficulties (ADHD, Dyslexia) and also Gifted and Talented student.

Tutoring Approach:

I have a modern and pragmatic approach to academia, having recently left University, higher and secondary education. My understanding of what a pupil is "going through" makes my style of teaching all the more useful, as a good rapport between pupil and student will be built. Furthermore, my extensive revision material is the latest and the best. This is due to the fact my resources are second to none.

With regards to Degree level Law - I am happy to assist in any particular areas of difficulty that may span exam preparation or coursework. I am also happy to read through the latter and make recommendations. Having competed in several Nationally esteemed mooting competitions this is an area where I feel my tutoring excels.

I feel it is essential for both tutee and parent to see tangible results from tuition. My approach is very exam based, primarily as I feel it is the best way to learn, and that it increases exam confidence, but also that it offers a medium whereby improvements can be gauged. All my students have shown significant improvements and I operate on a 100% pass rate. I feel every student is capable of achieving full marks, and with the right structured approach and effort - they can and will be achieved.

Personal Description:
22 year old Cambridge grad (2014) based in East London.

Double-first in Modern and Medieval languages.

4 A* at A Level (French, Spanish, History and Russian A-Levels;) and an A (Maths A-Level).

11 A*s at GCSE: IGCSE English Language, IGCSE English Literature, IGCSE Maths, IGCSE Physics, IGCSE Chemistry, IGCSE Biology, Russian, History, French, Spanish, Music and A (drama) at GCSE; A in Additional Maths FSMQ.

Teaching Experience:

Experience of tutoring 11-16 year olds.
I have tutored several students during their GCSEs, primarily in Maths, French, English, Spanish, History and Russian. I tailor my tutoring lessons to the needs of my pupils; I have taken both students throughout their full GCSE two year course and have also done exam specific tutoring lessons.

A levels.
I have tutored several pupils for A Levels, both with helping develop their coursework and improving their writing style. Through tutoring I have seen the slight changes in the exam boards and have the benefit of going through it myself quite recently. A significant part of achieving high grades is about understanding how to 'tick' the right boxes.

University Admissions.
Having gone through the UCAS System I have found that several of my pupils have benefited from my university admission tutoring. I have primarily worked on preparation for Oxbridge entrance tests and interviews. I have been doing this throughout my university career and have the benefit of being exposed to the tutors that will interview the candidates.

I have also signed up with big tutoring companies such as Holland Park.

Tutoring Approach:

When going through GCSEs and A Levels I tailor my classes to the student. It is important to know what grade a pupil is aiming for, their previous experience and how much time there is before their exam. I usually make sure that my pupils know the core basics that sometimes can be skipped over at school which make it harder for students to grow if they have not established the basics.

For languages I think it is very important to have a core understanding of grammar and vocabulary. My pupils benefit from lessons from me as I can speak French and Spanish fluently and Russian proficiently.
Whilst at university I majored in literature and therefore can share my approach to literature and poetry for English A level students.
For History A Level I work with the students developing their ideas and working on their essays which are very important in determining your grade achieved.

Having studied a full range of A levels I know what is needed for a pupil to succeed when faced with difficult exams and coursework questions.

I aim to provide clear explanations to solving problems along with useful exam technique. Friendly, enthusiastic and patient.

Personal Description:
I graduated from Oxford University with a First Class honours degree in Geography, and have since been both a private tutor and fundraising executive for a global charity for street children. I was the Deputy Head of the Boarding House at the Royal Grammar School High Wycombe. I am a very keen sportsman, having represented my school, university college and club's cricket 1st team. I averaged over 90% in my A levels, including 100% in AS Geography and 98% in A2 History. I provide a strategic and effective approach to both general learning as well as more specific exam and revision techniques. In the run up to exams, I offer specialist technique-based advice and support, that have been proven to improve grades by several levels.

Teaching Experience:

For the last four years I have been tutoring English, Geography, History and French to a wide range of over 120 individuals and groups of all abilities, aims and ages (from 5-50 years old). In the last year alone, I have provided over 950 hours of tuition. I have worked with many students on their university applications, helping them with university and subject choices, and especially with personal statements and interviews. I particularly specialise in Oxbridge application advice and support, with several successful recent applicants. I received university and national awards for my dissertation, and have since worked closely with students on their dissertations, one of whom has just received the highest mark at the university and has subsequently been submitted for a national prize.

I also offer short or long term international tuition services, having worked in Italy and the Bahamas on tutoring projects.

Tutoring Approach:

I am very flexible and can adapt my tutoring style to the needs of each individual. Whether your particular needs are factual and syllabus related, or if it's your exam or revision technique that you're looking to improve, then we can work together to create a highly successful and enjoyable study programme to ensure you achieve your full potential.

Personal Description:
I am a working actor and a recent Graduate of the Bristol Old Vic Theatre School. Before going to drama school I went to The University of Nottingham where I achieved a first class degree in English Language and Literature. I am self-motivated, enthusiastic and passionate about Drama and English.

Teaching Experience:

I have recently worked as a Maths and English tutor with Explore learning. I taught Maths and English to children aged 4 - 14 of various abilities. I received training in the National Curriculum as well as current tutoring methods. I have a particular strength in preparing students for 11+ exams.

In Bristol I assisted on and led various Drama workshops including; introduction to Shakespeare, confidence building and audition technique.

Tutoring Approach:

I am friendly and enthusiastic with a proven record of working well with children. I believe that every child can benefit from one-on-one tuition; whether they need extra help with a subject they are struggling with or they would relish the challenge of extension work. Private tuition can give them the extra time they need to let difficult ideas settle and to encourage them to ask questions and push themselves further. Above all I will try to make every session fun, relaxed and positive. This is not 'school' but a opportunity to bring their learning to life.

Personal Description:
Hello, I am a well qualified, BA, MPhil, PGCE teacher who is looking to branch out into more private tutoring work. I have privately tutored for many years and have experience since 1996. I have taught at all key stages and enjoy my work thoroughly. Last year (2012) my three history tutees all went to their first choice University, UEA, Liverpool and Leicester.
Please note that my rates are based on one to one tuition. Should you wish me to tutor groups of two or more either at home or in school I am happy to do so but rates will need to be discussed prior to my commencing work.
I now have experience of working on the E Bacc and depth studies.

Teaching Experience:

I have taught to A level in History for adult ed from 1998-2006
I have taught Geography to GCSE-level and A level
History in school at KS 3 and 4
I can also teach basic geology and archaeology and classical studies.
Classical Civilisation to A level

Tutoring Approach:

I am always keen to engage students in whatever subject they are studying. I believe in being supportive and constructive in all that I teach. I am currently working on a one-to-one project with a student with special needs.

Personal Description:
I am a History graduate from the University of Reading. I studied a wide range of topics and time periods during my degree, including late medieval and modern history. In GCSE History I got an A*, at A Level an A and I achieved a high 2:1 in my History degree. I am very enthusiastic about my subject and teaching it to others.

Teaching Experience:

I have a successful track record of tutoring A level history.

Tutoring Approach:

I recognise that every student has a different approach to learning and I feel it is important to build this into a tutoring plan. I would start by identifying areas which the student needs help on and find out how they like to learn. I would then use this information, and a variety of teaching techniques, to ensure they reach their full potential. I believe learning should be fun and stimulating in order for students to progress.

Personal Description:
My name is Gurpreet, I am currently in my last year of university studying Law and I am very passionate about teaching because I would like to pursue it as a career option. I genuinely wish to help students progress because I have many younger siblings myself whom I have supported in their achievements and so have become very versatile to their needs. I am willing to tutor in a public place (ie library).

Teaching Experience:

I have tutoring experience from other jobs from UKtutors with an age range from 5-18.

I have taught my younger siblings over many years as they moved from primary school to secondary. I would help my sister with subjects such as Maths and English, but I have also taught some of my fellow A level students in subjects which we would study together.

My work experience placement was at a nursery in which I had to support children where I developed many communication skills but also simple methods of educational activities.

From my Leadership Award I developed skills of teaching because I had to alter activities according to the age group, also allowed me skills of discipline through encouragement.

I was a leader for a group of children of ages 6 to 8 during a summer camp in June 2012 in which I had responsibility of organising and executing activities for these kids. It was an enjoyable and exciting learning opportunity.

Tutoring Approach:

I am able to adapt my methods according to the student and their age or level. This helps to develop their understanding and they are able to achieve targets and reach goals. I would like to make sessions interactive and generate interest in the student as it is important to maintain a positive attitude to learning and to stay persistent in the face of a problem.

Worksheets, whiteboards and educational games are all part of a much bigger learning objective but these can help to make education seem less forced and more willing. It gives great satisfaction when students understand and move forward in their endeavour which is why I find teaching an exciting and enjoyable occupation.

Personal Description:
Hi, my name is Imogen and I'm 21 years old. I am a third year undergraduate student at the University of Kent and have just returned from my year abroad in Paris. I study French, with modules in International Relations, Politics and German. I previously studied the International Baccalaureate instead of A Levels and whilst doing this tutored a 16 year old girl in GCSE French - she went from a C to an A with just simple tutoring of the basics. My final grades for my first year included French grammar grade being a 72 (1st) and all other modules receiving above 62, with a 70 in International History and International Relations.
My year abroad was spent with a French company, improving my French by being surrounded by solely French speakers! I returned from working and living in the French language feeling hugely confident in my foreign language abilities across all disciplines (listening, reading, writing and speaking).
I believe that I have a friendly approach to tutoring.

Teaching Experience:

As previously mentioned, I tutored a 16 year old girl in GCSE French. Over the 9 month period, we improved on her basic grammar skills and reading and listening skills also. As well as this, I have helped (not necessarily tutored, but essentially, tutored) several friends at different subjects that we both studied, particularly GCSE History and IB Biology Standard. I have a brother who sat his GCSEs in June 2013 and as most of our subjects were the same, I tutored him and tested him often in the subjects that I took at IB. From this site, which I joined in December 2012, I gained one student very quickly and during our 4 months tutoring sessions, she improved her basic understanding tremendously, progressing from a D to a B for her oral exam in April.

Tutoring Approach:

In terms of my approach to tutoring, I like to assess what the tutee finds difficult and try and work in a different way to how they are accustomed to to see if it helps at all. I draw a lot from my experiences as a student as I have found the ways in which I have been taught very easy to understand. I would like to say that my approach is a lot more suited to children because, like them, I am a student too and I understand what they are coping with and how their mind works. Listening is of key importance and I make sure that I listen to what my tutee is trying to say.

PLEASE NOTE: Although I tutor GCSE History, I would like to specify that it would just be for the Germany option.

Hi, I am Eve! I was born in Durban, South Africa and moved to London in 2001. I studied a BA in Theatre and Film at the University of Bristol and was awarded First Class Honours in 2009. Alongside building my theatrical career, I continue to tutor and regularly run theatre workshops at a refugee centre in Leicester Square. I am completing an MA at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art (RADA) and Birkbeck College.

Teaching Experience:

I have previously gained over 500 hours of teaching experience, helping students to lift their grades by up to 4 levels and build their confidence considerably. I enjoy working with people of different nationalities and have taught classes at the prestigious Frances King School of English.

Recommendation:
'Eve tutored my son from October 2013 to June 2014, in GCSE Drama, English, History and Spanish. My son found her teaching to be very clear and he required a great understanding of all the subjects taught, which was reflected in his very improved grades. Eve has a natural enthusiasm for teaching and an excellent ability to communicate with people. I would give her my highest recommendation as a tutor. Eve was very keen to get the best out of her student and her encouragement yielded great results!'

Tutoring Approach:

My lessons are well-planned, dynamic and thorough. I find working one-to-one with students very satisfying and will adapt to your needs. I am trained as a Prince2 Practitioner, a Project Management methodology that is used internationally. I can work with you to set achievable goals and track progress so that you steadily improve!

When tutoring History, I help students discover people and places from the past in an engaging way. When teaching Spanish, I offer conversation classes with home-cooked Spanish meals! I am studying at RADA, a world renowned drama school and give guidance with acting auditions. I also recommend the best shows that are currently on and offer advice for gaining industry experience. If you are an adult learner and simply want to learn for pleasure, I offer tailor-made sessions in a range of subjects. I am fully DBS checked and can support those with learning difficulties. More references are available on request. I am also happy to negotiate fees for sessions with more then one learner.

Personal Description:
My name is Dave, and I live in the Inverness area. I have a degree in History (Hons), and my area of expertise is UK and European social history from 1700. I have also studied US history, Scottish history, and European political history.

I also have a Masters Degree in Employment Law and Practice through the Robert Gordon University, Aberdeen.

In my spare time I coach school football, and have done so for 8 years.

Teaching Experience:

While I have no formal teaching experience, I have home tutored several children of friends. I have also coached hundreds of children up to age 16, in football lessons. As head coach for the local school, I have taught not only technical skills to children, but just as importantly, instilled a sense of self belief, and confidence, in their abilities. The confidence to express an opinion is vitally important and I do believe that, when it comes to history, belief in ability in expressing one's own viewpoint is crucial.

Tutoring Approach:

I aim to encourage self belief, and achieve this through a relaxed, proactive approach to the subject matter. I can critically analyse a students written work, and suggest ways of making those all important changes in order to achieve higher grades.

Personal Description:
Hi! I'm an Oxford graduate with a 2:1 in English Language and Literature. I graduated in July, and since then I have been looking for interesting ways to spend my time whilst also raising some money for further study. Tutoring appealed to me at once as a rewarding way to put the skills that I learnt during my degree to good use. Reading English at Oxford has honed my critical thinking, analytical abilities and study skills. Last year I also co-wrote a novel which has just been published in the UK, which really deepened my understanding of how to write effectively. I'd love to tutor others and help them to develop these skills too! In my spare time, I love to read, write fiction, and I also work as a sub-editor at an online short story magazine. My main address is in EN4, but I am also happy to tutor in Oxford.

Teaching Experience:

In October this year I successfully completed an assessment for the selective tutoring agency Blue Tutors. During the assessment I had to demonstrate my tutoring ability to a trained assessor, who described my communication skills as 'excellent'.
In my final term at Oxford, I volunteered with Schools Plus, a program which runs after school tuition sessions for struggling students in areas of economic disadvantage. I spent half a term working with GCSE English students, tutoring them on an individual basis in the run up to their January modules. As part of the selection process for the program, I also attended tutoring training.
When I was in the 6th form (in 2009), I also volunteered as a classroom assistant in my school. I was working with students who were having difficulty with essay-based subjects like History and English. I worked with two students in their History classes, helping them to understand the work they were set in class and working through it with them. I also had to use my knowledge of French to help one student who had not yet learnt to speak fluent English, translating the teacher's instructions for her and helping her with words she did not understand. Also between 2009-10, I helped to run two after-school classes for Key Stage 2 pupils, one in Literacy and Art and another in Drama. This involved planning and delivering lessons to classes of about 5-10 children, and keeping them engaged with the topics they were learning through activities designed to both teach and entertain.

Tutoring Approach:

My experience of tutoring in the past has shown me the importance of patience and respect in teaching. Especially in essay-based subjects, it is crucial that a teacher allows their pupils space to develop their own ideas, and respects their independent thought. Learning by rote has only limited usefulness: the best way to excel at a subject is to understand it, so I always explain concepts as fully as possible and move at the tutee's pace, making sure that they have properly grasped each concept or issue before moving on to the next. My Schools Plus training emphasised the idea that the goal of tutoring is to help a student to help themselves, enabling them to tackle problems rather than solving things for them. I think that this is fantastic advice, and it is a rule which I always try to bear in mind when tutoring.

Personal Description:
I currently live in the Oxfordshire area and have just finished studying for a Masters Degree in history at the School of Oriental and African Studies in London. I previously attended Kingston university where i studied for my BA in history. Throughout my time at university I have studied politics, economic, philosophy and english and would be happy and confident to tutor in all of these areas. I have extensive experience working with children of all ages, this comes not only through academic tuition, but managing and training cricket and rugby teams.

Teaching Experience:

Over the past four years I have taught over ten children all of whom have been at varying levels. This has included teaching multiple exam boards, and various subjects. I have also been working as a teacher at a home school for four children, this has involved taking the children on school trips both in the UK and other places around the world. Therefore, as part of this role I have to set lesson plans, mark work, and set homework.

Tutoring Approach:

It is important to remember each person is different and that they all learn differently therefore I ensure that I am very adaptable and flexible to the students needs. I also feel that you learn best when you find something interesting therefore I like to make sure that all lessons are interesting and that the tutee can relate to the subject/topic.

Personal Description:
I`m a University of Toronto alumnus (BSc) and certified teacher (BEd, DBS) working as an online tutor for A-level and degree students. I'm able to offer assistance on essays, exam preparation and other assignments for the following subjects:

Psychology
Statistics
English Literature
European History

I'm known for being a calm and patient tutor, able to teach material in the way that best suits the student I`m working with. I've helped students create outlines for their essays, understand different theories in psychology, conduct and comprehend statistical analysis, analyse literature, edit papers and learn strategies to absorb material efficiently before exams.

My aim is to make tutoring for university and college students affordable, so I offer a discount for long-term students and also for long appointments. I do all of my tutoring online, mainly via Skype and similar programs, and also by email for essay editing.

Don`t hesitate to contact me if you have any questions.

Teaching Experience:

In the UK, I have experience tutoring for two years in London, Surrey and Norfolk, and I`ve also tutored students for three years across a number of Canadian universities, such as the University of Toronto.

Tutoring Approach:

For A-level and degree students, I'm usually asked to provide assistance with a specific task. For example, I've helped my students construct outlines in order to structure their essays, answer typical questions that will come up on their exams, and proof read their essays to check content, clarity and grammar. I can also clarify theories that are difficult to understand and help students generate ideas for their thesis.

Personal Description:
My name is Aashna and I am a 2nd year medical student at University College London.

I am academically strong in these subjects as I studied Biology, Chemistry, Maths and History to A-level. I am also happy to tutor for Medical entrance exams and interview practice. Contact me for more details.

Teaching Experience:

I have been tutoring for last 3 years. In this time I have tutored numerous students from the age of 8 up to 18. In all cases the students performed very well and got great results

I have previous experience with several A-Level and GCSE students one-to-one for the above subjects privately as well helping students with interview practice and entrance exams in group settings.

Having also previously worked with younger students (aged 8-14) teaching kumon and mentoring younger students individually in secondary school, I feel confident working with a range of group sizes and ages..

Tutoring Approach:

I tailor my approach to supplement the student's education at school by allowing them to tell me what they are currently studying and what they are struggling with, so I can go over it with them step-by-step at their own pace.

I am also willing to prepare each lesson specifically based on whatever the student wants me to. Students are welcome to contact me via e-mail to inform me of these and can ask for advice or any help.

A Lot of practice is done through past papers and the exam techniques are discussed and explained in detail.

Personal Description:
Born in Yorkshire I was educated in New Zealand up to school certificate. After A levels I attended Durham University before heading to Sandhurst.
12 years of teaching experience is backed by a wealth of real-world experience in the army, arts and educational administration and in business. I have an interest in the outdoors, public speaking, sport (I am an active cricketer and a rugby referee) , the arts, history, science and religion.

Teaching Experience:

Sherborne Prep School (2002-2009 and 2011-14): Originally engaged as a science and class teacher for KS2 and 3, I became Director of Studies in 2006. In 2011 I returned as head of history before becoming head of computing in 2012. In both these roles I was responsible for writing and introducing a new curriculum.
Sherborne Qatar (2009-10): founding Director of Studies responsible for admissions, curriculum and assessment and teacher of a Year 5 class.
On returning to the UK I worked at Knighton House School (2010-11): where I taught science, maths and history. From 2014, I have done some supply teaching in the Tyneside area while working on curriculum projects and freelance writing

Tutoring Approach:

With experience in preparing pupils for exams such as 11+, Common Entrance and scholarships I am academically demanding but believe that learning should be enjoyable and try to include elements which allow children of all learning styles and abilities to make the most of their abilities. As a result I include practical elements and visual materials in most lessons. Context is important in learning, so concepts are taught through media and approaches which are engaging (and often amusing) to the child. In short, children regard learning as fun and worthwhile rather than as something to be endured. The first step is an assessment of needs which is followed by focussed learning to develop areas of weakness and to build confidence, knowledge and analytical skills.

Personal Description:
My name is Daniel and I currently study Ancient History and Archaeology at Reading University, I am originally from Guernsey and studied at Elizabeth College, for my A-Levels I took Ancient History (A at A2) Classics (A at AS) Design and Technology (A at A2 with 98% in coursework) and Photography (B at A2). I also have some background in french speaking and teaching Sailing.

Teaching Experience:

During my time at Elizabeth College I was a cadet leader in charge of 50 or so cadets, this role involved teaching the recruits various aspects of the curriculum, from theoretical to applied learning.
I am also a sailing and Powerboat instructor, this was paid work over the summer, where I would take children, relatively new to the sport, and within a week have them sailing proficiently on their own.
During these activities I would be teaching young adolescent and the occasional 10-11 year old.

-As a one to one student you will always have the undivided attention of the teacher for the entire lesson.
-All lesson plans can be individually tailored to your needs.
-We can spend as little or as long on any given individual topic until it is properly understood. The choice is yours.
-The 1:1 - teacher to student ratio cannot be beaten.

With education a solid foundation of knowledge must be laid before additional levels can be built upon it; otherwise the structure in question will inevitably fail.

Tutoring Approach:

I would say I very much hands on, first I would read ahead in the curriculum, in order to ensure my understanding of the subject was clear, I would then form a powerpoint in order to provide a visual learning point, whilst I would orate the background to the student, It would follow a chronological order, and would and in-depth background knowledge that would help the student understand the subject matter better, and allow the student to access higher grades
