Facts about tuition:

Your children's education is the one thing you should never settle for second best with, and with recent figures showing 40% of London student's having received Private Tuition at some point in the past - it is imperative you give your children the best chance in life by employing the best tutors.

I am not a part-time student, I am not a part-time graduate or even a part-time professional offering tutoring services. I am a qualified teacher heading up a Law Department in a Surrey Sixth Form College, and teach every day. Therefore I know the syllabus inside out, what the examiner expects, and the pedagogy of how student's learn most effectively. My prices reflect the Stirling and first-class standard of tuition offered.

My rates reflect results. I guarantee an improvement in grade and performance (sometimes evident after just several sessions.) My approach to tuition is very exam focused - especially when close to exams or resits. I don't waste time working through a chunky textbook - I work through past papers with students so they know what to expect, how to prepare, and how to get the most marks possible.

But actions speak louder than words:

One GCSE student joined me working at GCSE Mathematics Grade D/E, he hated maths and was dropping through his sets. Within only a few weeks he had jumped up a grade and by the end of the month he was achieving solid C's. Now 3 months on he is consistently achieving at GCSE grade B (and is now sitting GCSE Higher paper), he is top of his class, and realistically he will be aiming for grade A/A* in the Summer.

Another student joined me at the end of 2012. He was privately educated and was on the border of exclusion, his grades were also extremely low. Within only a month this student was off his report card, and his teachers had noticed a change in attitude and performance. Only a week ago, his report showed clear improvements across the board in both effort and achievement, and his core subjects showed a massive turn around. Behaviour had improved also.

Another student was working at GCSE Mathematics Grade D/E and he required a C in mathematics in order to get onto his College Course. The student had attended extra revision classes and had also been privately tutored but there was no significant change in his results with only 6 weeks until his exams. I tutored this student over the remaining 6 weeks. I focused on exam technique and actual specific exam content and the Student received his Grade C (Highest mark possible on Foundation paper) and was consequently accepted onto his course.

Another Privately educated student was on the Dyslexic spectrum and was struggling to meet the gateway grade C in his Mathematics GCSE. The parents had spent extensive amounts of money on private tuition and the school had put on many extra revision sessions - all to no avail. Within the first tuition slot, I had quickly relaised that the conventional teaching methods were having absolutely no effect. I had to customise my approach and actually found that getting the student to draw out the problems was the only way he could understand and remember them. Over a very short period of time (every Saturday for 5 weeks) the student easily hit the required standard and passed his GCSE maths with no issues.

Now about me:

I graduated from Nottingham Law School with a 1st Class Law Degree. My life in academia is solid: I have been a member of the "National Academy for Gifted and Talented Youth" since the age of 11; achieved 11 GCSE's (inc. A* English Literature, A* English Language A* Mathematics A*A* Science) of which my English Literature GCSE Exam mark was amongst one of the top 5 marks Nationwide; achieved 5 AS Levels and 3 A Levels (AAA) to which my marks in English Literature and History were full marks. I am a motivational, electric and honest individual, who strives to achieve the best in both myself and those around me.

Furthermore, I always aim to be a positive role model in addition to tutor.

Teaching Experience:

I am currently teaching A-Level Law, Business and Functional Skills (English and Maths GCSE) ,at a Surrey VI Form College. I am also head of the Law Department. This means I also have a current and enhanced CRB check. My past tutoring experience is extensive and spans over 7 years. My experience derives from the many sessions of private tuition I have provided over the years, tutoring at Degree level and predominantly GCSE level (mainly mathematics and English.)

For example, at the moment I am tutoring two brothers (State School) KS3/KS4/GCSE Mathematics who are in year 10 and 8 respectively. I also mentor and tutor a year 8 boy (Whitgift Private School) across the whole syllabus. The year 10 tutee jumped from achieving a grade D/E in the foundation Maths Paper to achieving 100% on the Foundation Papers (a Grade C) and later achieving a grade B in his intermediate Maths Paper (within 3 months.) We aim to achieve an A* on the higher paper for his actual exam. The Whitgift educated tutee was originally tutored 2 hours a week (originally intended for one month) but after clear improvements across the board (both academic and behavioural) this was doubled to 4 hours a week and has continued indefinitely.

Taking into account all my past (7 years worth) and present tutees - I have taught both genders at every age (8 - 18) across all my subject specialisms. This gives me extensive private tuition experience. This comes at a premium in our profession, and is generally more valued than even the most impressive educational background or academic achievements.

My most recent degree level tutee (mature student) describes me as providing a "unique, interesting and intuitive tutoring experience" and assures me from her experience that a tutor in the very heart of academia is all the more useful to a tutee than an old Cambridge professor completely out of touch with a modern syllabus. I also recently tutored and mentored a Saudi Prince through the first year of his Law Degree at Nottingham Law School and he stated he couldn't have done this "without me." I am used to teaching students who have English as a second language, students with learning difficulties (ADHD, Dyslexia) and also Gifted and Talented student.

Tutoring Approach:

I have a modern and pragmatic approach to academia, having recently left University, higher and secondary education. My understanding of what a pupil is "going through" makes my style of teaching all the more useful, as a good rapport between pupil and student will be built. Furthermore, my extensive revision material is the latest and the best. This is due to the fact my resources are second to none.

With regards to Degree level Law - I am happy to assist in any particular areas of difficulty that may span exam preparation or coursework. I am also happy to read through the latter and make recommendations. Having competed in several Nationally esteemed mooting competitions this is an area where I feel my tutoring excels.

I feel it is essential for both tutee and parent to see tangible results from tuition. My approach is very exam based, primarily as I feel it is the best way to learn, and that it increases exam confidence, but also that it offers a medium whereby improvements can be gauged. All my students have shown significant improvements and I operate on a 100% pass rate. I feel every student is capable of achieving full marks, and with the right structured approach and effort - they can and will be achieved.

Tutoring Approach:

I believe that Tutoring is first about personal connection. Any learning can only be achieved given a certain level of trust, which must be established in order to create a solid platform from which further learning can then flourish. Younger students are most open to absorbing information and should have the chance to take academic information and guidance from a range of people. This enhances the educational experiences and broadens the horizons of a student.

Having myself struggled with poor teachers, or unwieldy subject matter, I know that, with the right teachers, such areas can come alive. More clinical approaches to tutoring further separate students from the learning process. Having experienced one-to-one tuition myself, I have seen the many positives and potential pitfalls the system can bring. These experiences galvanize me and help me in my own tutoring. I am a young professional with a strong background in volunteer mentoring with children and young people, as well as a solid academic resume. I was home educated (tutorial-based) through primary and secondary school, and went on to study English Literature and History at the University of Edinburgh.

Teaching Experience:

I have been working since June 2011 at Mackenzie School of English, teaching English as a second language to foreign high school students.

Also, I have been a private tutor since February 2011, working with a range of ages and levels in both English Literature and History.

As well as my professional experience, I have been involved in youth work, summer camps, and one-to-one mentoring of young people for the past eight years or so. Working at summer camps has given me experience in both group work - teaching and leading discussions - as well as in one-to-one mentoring. Currently I am involved in a weekly youth club here in Leith, working with vulnerable and disadvantaged young people from the local community.

Tutoring Approach:

Coming from a rather unconventional educational background, I would bring with me a deep passion for the need to create a tailored and bespoke educational experience for each individual young person. I know how incredible my own learning experience has been, instilling within me a value and love of learning that will remain with me my whole life. I would approach tutoring with this same passion. Learning excites and challenges me, and I believe that it has become limited in the classroom at times. When a young person can see someone else passionate and excited about an aspect of knowledge and understanding, the ramifications are huge. Not only does tutoring provide an avenue for this one-to-one mentoring, but I believe it is also the most powerful method of teaching. It is in that bond of mutual regard and respect that true learning occurs. These passions and beliefs are foundational to my approach of tutoring and mentoring.

I'm an enthusiastic and easy-going individual with extensive academic and teaching experience. From 2011 to 2016 I worked as a lecturer at the University of Westminster, receiving a prize for my efforts in 2014 having been dominated by my students for teaching excellence.

I also have an excellent academic record, completing a PhD in politics in 2016 from the University of Westminster. Prior to this I studied politics, sociology and philosophy at the University of York and the University of Leeds. At Leeds I received a prize for the highest mark in my graduate year, out of over 200 students. I've also been awarded scholarships to fund my studies at York and Westminster.

Besides my academic work, I've up to ten years of experience working as a research in public policy. I currently work for the NHS, researching efforts to improve patient experience, and I've previously worked at think-tanks including the Work Foundation and the New Economics Foundation. Teaching Experience:

As noted above, I've extensive teaching experience, with five years experience working as a lecturer at the University of Westminster. I am a fully qualified secondary school art teacher, and university lecturer in History of Art. I completed my PhD in History of Art at University College London (UCL) in 2013. I have published my research in a number of academic journals and edited book collections, and I am currently a Research Fellow at Cornell University Society for the Humanities, USA.

I'm currently based in the United States until August 2017, and I'm presently offering Skype tutorials only until this time. As of August/September I will be based in Hulme, Manchester and can travel up to 20 miles from the city centre, or meet students at my central Manchester art studio. Teaching Experience:

I am a fully trained secondary school teacher, specialising in Art & Design and Photography at KS3, KS4 & KS5. I have 10 years teaching experience, including working as a specialist Learning Support Teacher, and in Special Needs schools catering for children and young adults with a range of special educational needs, from moderate learning difficulties to profound and multiple disabilities.

I have particular expertise in studio practice (art and design), digital and darkroom photography (theory, history and practice), literacy, social and vocational skills, as well as History of Art, Anthropology and History of Medicine at undergraduate level.

I am also experienced in teaching at undergraduate level, having taught gallery-based first year History of Art courses, for University College London's History of Art Department, and on the History of Art degree programme at the University of Manchester.

Tutoring Approach:

I take a one-to-one, flexible approach to learning and teaching, which first establishes the needs and goals of the student, and then sets out clearly structured strategies for achieving these goals. These may be results-focused when preparing for exams, or aimed at developing a broader understanding of a subject area, depending upon the student's own priorities. I am happy to work with any course materials the student may provide, and I am familiar with all current GCSE and A Level syllabuses. I am able to guide both GCSE and A Level students through their studies, offering consistent, dedicated 1-2-1 tuition for the full term of the course. I can also provide practical tuition for students who are preparing their art portfolios for University submission, and can offer assistance with UCAS forms and references for students who undertake long-term A Level tuition with me.

Tutoring may take place at the student's home, or at my art studio in central Manchester, where I can provide a range of art materials and resources by prior arrangement, for more intensive practical art sessions. Please note that I can travel within 20 miles of central Manchester based on the fee structure quoted below, travelling further will incur a small additional fuel fee.

I have had recent successes with my private students, one of whom attended one-to-one sessions at my Manchester studio for 8 weeks and improved her predicted GCSE Art result of a B by two grades, achieving an A* in her final art exam. My most recent undergraduate students have also attained First class results in their undergraduate degrees. One student achieved a high score of 78 on her History of Art dissertation project with intensive tutorial support conducted via Skype; and another progressed from a fail during the first year of his Visual Communication degree, to a First class final result in his third year, following 2 years of regular commitment to one-to-one tutoring.

*Please note that due to the time-intensive nature of undergraduate level tutoring, I am only able to take on a maximum of three undergraduate tutees at any given time. Please see below for my current availability for tutoring at this level.*

I take a holistic approach to the teaching of history, ensuring that the student becomes engaged within a fuller understanding of the period being studied. I am a friendly, approachable, History & Politics teacher, currently teaching in Bromley, Kent. I am very passionate about education and I find great satisfaction in helping young people achieve.

I studied History & American Studies at the University of Nottingham and the University of Toronto, achieving a 2:1. I also have a PGCE at Masters level. I also have A2 Levels in English Literature, History and P.E.

Due to my experience in teaching for a couple of years at a top independent school, l I am happy to help with preparing for the 11+ and entrance examinations, and interview technique.

Teaching Experience:

I spent my first year of teaching working at a top independent boys' school in Surrey, teaching History. I then completed my PGCE, working at two different schools in the Bromley area. I am now in my second year of teaching at Charles Darwin School in Biggin Hill, where I teach History up to A2, Government and Politics up to AS, and Religious Studies up to GCSE.

Tutoring Approach:

I believe in tailoring tutoring to each individual's learning style to get the best out of our time together. I do this whilst also trying to create an enjoyable working environment to encourage maximum learning potential. This is especially important with younger students; I want them to enjoy our sessions so that they look forward to them and get the most out of them.
I have a huge variety of tried and tested resources that I have created and used in the various schools I have worked in. I always adapt these to the needs of the individual learner so they can be of maximum benefit.

My name is Paulina and I recently graduated with a first class honours in English literature, currently studying MA Literature.
If you are looking for an A-level English Literature tutor, then you have found the right person to help you with your exams! I can certainly make you understand texts or poetry better via going through historical context, analysis, different interpretation (including theory) and prepare you for your exams.

DISCLAIMER:

Teaching Experience:

I possess over a year of experience in tutoring A-level English Literature. All of my tutees passed their exams for their desired grades, and they all achieved at least a grade higher than their expected grade. Although I do not give a guarantee you will pass with an A*, I promise to help you improve and provide you with skills to help you succeed.

Tutoring Approach:

My approach to tutoring is to stay positive and to start by setting goals my tutee feels capable of achieving. From experience, I find it extremely helpful to start way in advance before the madness of exams, or as soon as a deadline for the essay has been set. Being calm and being kind to oneself are of vital importance when studying. My top tip to all students: start months before the exams, because it will give you time to organise notes, read through stuff couple of times, as well as to go through question papers and write sample essays.

I have years of practice so I know your feelings when it comes to starting revision, that it all seems to be a massive mess, and you may think you don't know where to start. I can help you sort it out by starting a few months before exams in order to keep stress at bay. Colour coding, flash cards or making Powerpoints will not be as effective if you make these a week before an exam than if you were to produce them two months before. If you will trust me, I will try my best at helping you devise strategies for revision and to have stronger writing skills.

Remember- I can go with you through the material, and help you understand your subject but I cannot write your coursework for you.

I am a passionate historian who since finishing my Masters degree in 2014 has continued to study and write about history and politics amongst other subjects.

I have been teaching privately for the past seven years and this has ranged from home schooling to teaching several students at once. I have experience teaching at GCSE/AS/A2 and undergraduate level, and teaching one on one or groups of several students. After five years working in various financial analysis roles across London, I have spent the last two years working for myself as a consultant for charities, Escape Room owners and creative entrepreneurs and as a tutor as well. Teaching Experience:

I have been tutoring University students and adults in business subjects and Microsoft Excel for the past four years whilst working in Finance. Prior experience has also included children of ages 5-12 in groups and 1-1 tutoring at ages: 5-8 (for Maths and English) and 10 (for 11+ exams). Over the past year, I have taken on two students: an adult Saudi taking her Masters in Business and a 10 year old Lithuanian to whom I have been teaching English, Maths and interconnecting it with his interest in game design.

Tutoring Approach:

I tailor my tuition largely to the needs of the student, depending on their requirements and working style. However, my preferred method is to split each session into covering material being learned at school and taking short practice tests to assess weak areas and revise for exams. While tutoring to any required curricula I will also try to instil the love of a subject into a student by guiding them to other fascinating areas of the subject and discovering areas of interests to support the subject's framework.
