Personal Description:
I will be in Argentina for the month of February and will not be able to tutor in person.

I am from Newcastle Upon Tyne but moved to Birmingham to study European Studies and French at Aston University. After graduating I decided to stay in Birmingham. I am interested in movies - especially Spanish and French, reading, photography as well as current affairs.

Teaching Experience:

During my university degree I spent a year living in Dunkirk, France where I taught adults both business and general English. At the same time I also tutored some children from a nearby school.

Tutoring Approach:

Tutoring is really something that needs to be enjoyable. It's not like other jobs and why should it be? At the same time it is something I take seriously. I am more than willing to accomodate needs whether they be for an education, for an exam or for pleasure.

Personal Description:
My name's Richard, I am 27 and currently a teacher of science at a secondary school. I'm a very experienced and confident teacher and have also taught many other subjects due to my previous life as a supply teacher. I tend to be well liked by learners of all ages as I insist on mutual respect in the classroom. I'm firm when needs be but by making learning fun and accessible to pupils, I find I rarely need to be. I'm committed to improving not only the learner's educational experience, but also to my own development as a teacher.

Teaching Experience:

I currently teach science at Perryfields High School, which is an ever-improving school in Oldbury. We attained the best GCSE results in Sandwell last year and are looking to build upon that success this year. I have spent the last 7 years teaching in a variety of schools and I am also a specialist in working with children with SEN.

Tutoring Approach:

My approach to tutoring employs a wide array of teaching styles in order to satisfy the different learning needs of the individual. I use a combination of computer based and Internet resources, kinaesthetic activities, discussion based exercises as well as the more traditional "chalk and talk" approach.

Personal Description:
I am a mature adult with a clear understanding of the needs of students who have at some point been 'left behind'. I gained my degree later than most and have a positive approach to education for all. I am creative in finding ways of reaching my students and I find it difficult to restrain my enthusiasm for my subjects.

Teaching Experience:

I am currently working with students who have fallen behind for many reasons to bring them up to GCSE in english standard. This includes working on coursework, presentation and expanding their knowledge in interpreting poetry. I work on a daily basis with students at all levels.

I am a qualified Youth Worker so my work experience is varied between formal and social education.

During my degree years I was also an online mentor with AimHigher.

Tutoring Approach:

I would be happy to visit the students home to teach and I believe that they are likely to be more relaxed and receptive in their home environment.

Personal Description:
I am 19 years old. I am friendly, lively, outgoing but also listen carefully and I'm very hard working.

I am currently a 2nd year undergraduate studying at University College London in Central London in joint honours French and Russian. I have tutored successfully for the last three years. I have got a wide range of GCSEs and 5 Alevels.

Before university I studied at Skipton Girls' and so had to sit the entrance exams. I am approachable and try to make whichever subject I tutor fun and enjoyable as I found my studies! I really enjoy working and also learning with my tutees as everyone has their own ideas to express.

Teaching Experience:

I tutored during sixth form years to year 10s and year 11s. My major successes were to enable students working at a grade D level to finally achieve As in their final literature exams.

When I came to university I again entered into tutoring. I have worked with primary school children teaching maths and english at KS2 level and also basic reading and writing strategies. Further to this I worked in Holland Park School in Notting Hill with a group of Year 11s tutoring English Literature at GCSE level.

I find tutoring exciting and extremely rewarding when I see points have finally been grasped and the student can now communicate what they had locked up in their minds.

As I did very essay based subjects and still continue on this track I can help with basic ideas of essay structuring and approach to exams.

Tutoring Approach:

I believe learning is a very individual thing and I listen to what the student finds the hardest and supply ideas of how to tackle these problems.

I prefer a laid back style to tutoring as I feel learning should be enjoyable. However I always get the work and my plans for the session done.

I like to have some fun and create a healthy relationship with the people I tutor. When the student does not want me there or I do not want to go to work the learning process is heavil impeded and progress cannot be made.

Our aims and goals are the same it is just finding the right path there!

Personal Description:
I am an experienced tutor in English, Maths, Science, History, French and Spanish. I am a 21-year old student, currently studying English Language and Literature at Oxford University (so I am only available to tutor during the University vacations). My passion for teaching and working with children makes me an easy and fun person to learn with, and my lessons focus on enjoyment and getting the best out of people.

I can also be very results-driven when necessary, and have a good working knowledge of the 11+, Common Entrance 13+, GCSE, iGCSE and A level courses. As well as teaching the requisite material, I can offer revision help, catch-up sessions and even organisational classes, which are very effective in improving public exam results.

I pride myself on the ability to teach any pupil a technique for writing well-structured essays under exam conditions and have helped many students to boost their grades with my effective planning techniques.

I also have experience of the public school Scholarship system, and can provide some useful insights and feedback even to the most able candidates, which will increase their chances of success.

Personally, I enjoy reading, playing football and hockey, choral singing and playing the 'cello.

Teaching Experience:

I spent 11 months of my gap year teaching in an International School in Thailand, the British International School, Phuket. Here I taught primary English, Maths, Topic (History and Geography) and secondary music as well as English as a Foreign Language. I worked and lived in a boarding house, where I assisted with homework during the evenings, and regularly reading with the children.

I have experience of private tuition of English as a Foreign Language, Maths and English with English, Russian, Swedish and Thai children aged between 7 and 12.

I have experience of private tuition of older children of GCSE Science and AS and A level English, History and Spanish.

I personally achieved 4 A grades at A Level in English, French, History and Spanish, and 7 A*s at GCSE.

Tutoring Approach:

I work with pupils to get the best possible results that they can achieve, whilst promoting enjoyment of learning. My style is humorous but firm, and students generally enjoy their time working with me. Whether with homework help, learning a specific topic or working towards a high-pressure public exam, I work with tutees to help them quickly master the basics and begin putting them into practice.

Personal Description:
I have recently graduated with an English degree from Loughborough University and wish to direct my passion for the subject into tutoring. Through my degree I have gained a strong base of knowledge concerning canonical literature and I am equally enthusiastic about non-canonical works.

I constantly strive to achieve the best possible results with an honest and friendly approach.

Teaching Experience:

I have gained part-time experience over the years within various schools, through observing and assisting children of all ages in a teaching environment.

Whilst studying I gained the privilege of travelling to Germany for several weeks in order to gain an insight into their educational system and provide assistance to their pupils.

Tutoring Approach:

"The essence of teaching is to make learning contagious, to have one idea spark another" - Marva Collins.

I firmly believe that building self confidence within a pupil is essential in order to succeed. Acknowledging strengths (as well as weaknesses) is an important factor in establishing confidence within a tutee.

I provide full assistance to my students in and out of the set tutoring session since I am accessible by phone, e-mail and video calling at their convenience.

Personal Description:
I am an approachable, reliable and supportive tutor who listens and is attentive to every students individual requirements.

I have a first-class honours degree in acting from the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art (RADA) which is among the most prestigious drama schools in the world.

I began teaching 'A' Level and GCSE drama, theatre studies, english literature and history three years ago and have enjoyed every moment. I have taught at Bodmin College in Cornwall and St Leonard's Independent School in Fife among others. References are available from teachers on request.

Teaching Experience:

At 'A' Level:

Theatre Studies:

Usually comparative essay- writing attributing the appproaches of Brecht and Stanislavsky to plays. Commonly syllabus texts include 'Our Country's Good'. 'A Doll's House', 'The Beggar's Opera' and 'Three Sisters'.

English Literature:

Again, essay writing. We would compare and contrast themes in Shakespeare plays (Measure for Measure, The Merchant of Venice) with novels (Frankenstein, Schindler's Ark) or poetry (Rime of The Ancient Mariner, T.S Eliot).

History:

Example papers, source analysis. Modern European history: Nazi Germany and the Weimar Republic. Medicine or Crime and Punishment through tine.

I lead my tutee by asking questions to lead them to a more specific answer.

I am usually on hand to assist with coursework and believe firmly in supporting the tutees endeavours as opposed to providing them with the answers.

I pride myself on clarity, encouragement and positivity.

I went to university in Nottingham after having rejected a place to study SPS at Cambridge in order to study English at Nottingham. I graduated with a 2:1 in 2007. I have been studying at the Drama Centre for the last 2 years. I live with my girlfriend in Holloway.

Teaching Experience:

6 months teaching English literature in Northlands Girls school in Buenos Aires.
6 months as a drama assistant at Tonbridge school, Kent.
Private tuition to several Argentine adults in Buenos Aires.

Tutoring Approach:

I like to prep all of the texts/syllabuses of my students and work through them in a relaxed, attentive environment. I like to use games and music to help in learning. My passion is for literature and I also like to use dramatic techniques and film and multimedia to aid learning and to make 'homework' more fun. I think it is hugely important to instill confidence, particularly in children - as a performer I feel I can give the confidence to approach work in a fun and confidence-building manner. I feel my students can teach me a huge amount as well.

Personal Description:
I have worked for 25 years with a background of administration and training. I can relate well to other people. I have experience of working in schools in Leeds and in adult training, helping to create an accredited training programme for carers of elderly people.

Teaching Experience:

I have worked as a Departmental Support Worker and as a Teaching Assistant in Secondary and Primary Schools in Leeds. I have worked across Key Stages from Foundation to Key Stage 4. I have tutored children who were struggling in the classroom, removing them and teaching them separately. I was also a one to one worker with an autistic child, helping him in the classroom and also in college. I have a son so am aware of the national curriculum and can help in achieving satisfactory levels in SATS and GCSE.

Tutoring Approach:

My approach towards tutoring is to find out from the tutee what their favoured learning style is, where they are at present and what is their goal. After this, I will work with the tutee to ensure that this goal is met, through using worksheets, computer programmes and games to increase ability and confidence.

Personal Description:
My name is Ewan, I'm 26 years old and from Glasgow. After completing my BA (Hons) in Glasgow, I moved to Manchester to do a Master's in History and have decided to stay to do my teacher training (PGCE), allowing me to teach History in high schools. I am a very patient and personable person, and really enjoying working on a one-to-one basis with students. I have a wide range of interests which I like to bring into teaching where appropriate; using films, music and pictures can make learning a bit more interesting and appeal to many students own personal learning style.

Teaching Experience:

I currently teach History from Year 7 to Year 13 (KS3, 4 and 5) at a High School in West Berkshire where I hold a promoted post. Before this, I taught at a school in Manchester where I completed my teacher training. I have tutored throughout my teaching career which is an aspect of my job that I really enjoy. My last tutee was an A-Level student who received AAB in his A2 papers which helped earn him his place at university. I think it is important to focus on developing the skills to pass the exam or earn a high mark on essays, however it's the tutee that's the boss!

Tutoring Approach:

Very happy to gear my approach around individual needs. I am happy to come to students homes, for students to come to me, or meet in another location. I am happy to answer emails, texts or chat on the phone or arrange some online time between sessions to maintain a bit of inspiration and make sure students are on the right track. I like to use some multi-media (film, music and pictures) to make learning fun and help with source work. I am also keen to make sure students are fully prepared for exams, and have spent some time looking at how to approach question in these stressful situations.

Personal Description:
I am 32 years old, married with two young children, living in Bedford. I am looking for part time work which will enable me to use my teaching skills and experience.

I am friendly, approachable, organised and reliable.

I studied Journalism at Leeds University followed by a PGCE in Education at London Metropolitan University. I am also currently studying Psychology with a view to working in Educational Psychology in the future.

Teaching Experience:

I am a fully qualified primary school teacher with approximately 5 years experience of working in both KS1 and 2 classes.

I also have experience of working in private and state schools.

I was privately educated myself so I know the system well, including the entrance examination process and standards.

Tutoring Approach:

I think tutoring is very useful for boosting children's confidence in subjects they may struggle with. It is also good for subjects they thrive in to keep them interested and challenge them further.
Tutoring is also good for children at the entrance examination stage to help them improve on any weaknesses. I do however, feel that tutoring should not take place or interfere with the child's formal education.
