Personal Description:
Hi!

My name is Simon, I am 27 years old and a native German.
I have been teaching German for private students and at a professional language school for the past five years in Germany, Australia and England.
My university degree is in English Linguistics, and I also speak Spanish and French fluently.

Working as a language trainer has immensely enriched my life experience and filled me with tremendous joy. I truly love languages and would love to be given the chance to keep enthusing students with knowledge about my native language and culture.

Should you be interested in hiring me as a tutor, simply contact me via phone or email. I normally respond within 24 hours.

Teaching Experience:

5 years as a private Tutor and Language Trainer at various professional language schools

Tutoring Approach:

To give my students the confidence to talk, talk, talk. No one has ever learned a language without making mistakes. We were all beginners once.
You won't learn unless you're having fun doing it. Every lesson should be as enjoyable and rich in variety as possible.

Personal Description:
My name is Oliver and I am a 22-year-old student at the University of Warwick, where I study German & History joint honours. I have recently returned from my year abroad in Germany, where I studied not only German language and literature, but also history and French language at the Humboldt University in Berlin. I would describe myself as enthusiastic and friendly.

Teaching Experience:

Between January and June 2012 I volunteered through Warwick Volunteers at a school in Coventry, where I acted as a teaching assistant in a Year 8 French class. I furthermore tutored a then first-year student at the University of Warwick during this time period. She was interested in improving her German language from GCSE-level and so we met for an hour every week in the university library. During the lessons we not only focused on grammar, but also on texts which I provided to widen vocabulary and to understand sentence structure in a real context.

Tutoring Approach:

For me it is important that the tutoring can either be as relaxed or as focused as the student wants it to be. We all have our own individual ways of learning and retaining information, so it is key to understand best how the student learns when approaching a topic. It is also good when students think for themselves, rather than simply soaking up information, and so I tend to encourage this kind of self-sufficiency in learning. I encourage debate and get students to justifying their reasoning and thought, skills which are not only useful for the future but also are more engaging for students.

Personal Description:
Experienced trilingual tutor with excellent proficiency (oral/ written) in French and German.

I am an experienced tutor in teaching French (up to GCSE and IGCSE, AS/A'Level/International Baccaleureate and beyond). I also teach German and Italian up to GCSE/IGCSE level.

I also teach conversation and practical French for adults looking to use the language for holidays/buying properties in France etc or just for general use

Have valid CRB disclosure

Teaching Experience:

I have been teaching for the last 7 years at all levels and have consistantly produced good results in my students at AS/A' Level/IB as well as GCSE/IGCSE.

I am fully conversant with all Exam Boards and GCSE/IGCSE/AS/A'LEVEL/IB ETC syllabuses

I have also taught French to adults at all levels for example who have just wanted to be able to converse comfortably while on holiday, also to those who want to learn from scratch as well as those who are already at a reasonable level and want to improve their oral and writing skills for business or pleasure

Tutoring Approach:

My approach is firstly to assess closely where the gaps in my pupil's knowledge are and then build on closing them through grammar and vocabulary. I therefore give my students the building blocks to construct their own sentences in writing and speech.

I will work with them sometimes using their own text books but also I provide my own material to make the lessons more interesting. I will use games/quizzes as well as focussing on past papers and oral exams to help them gain confidence in the language.

I engage well with all my pupils and they always enjoy their lessons with me so that their time with me does not feel like just another extension of school

My conversation lessons with adults are always fast-paced and fun and my pupils widen their vocabulary and gain confidence in the new language very quickly

Personal Description:
Having completed my undergraduate degree in Philosophy, Politics and Economics at Oxford University, followed by a Masters degree in Politics with distinction, I am now a speechwriter and chief of staff to a member of the House of Lords who is the former CEO of a FTSE100 company. I am very keen to share my enthusiasm for my subject areas with students. Whilst at university I was involved in a wide variety of activities, including editing a magazine, conducting an orchestra and captaining a squash team, so I understand the pressures students face to balance academic studies with extra-curricular activities. By providing effective, valuable tutoring, I hope I can ease these pressures.

Teaching Experience:

With five years' experience of the Oxford tutorial system (including a period conducting admission interviews for undergraduates), and two years' experience writing high profile speeches and newspaper articles, I can provide challenging, engaging and friendly tutoring at a variety of levels, including to those preparing for applications to Oxford or Cambridge. I offer a particular focus on rigour and precision when it comes to students expressing themselves; in my experience, this can make all the difference when it comes to an academic or entrance exam. The broad nature of my degree means I can offer tutoring in Economics, Politics, Maths (including statistics), German and French, all of which I studied at A Level or university myself. As a post-graduate student of politics, I can also offer particular expertise here.

Tutoring Approach:

I have a real passion for my subject areas, and I believe that an enthusiastic tutor is the first step in enabling a student to achieve their full potential, whatever level they may be studying at. For exciting, dynamic tutoring from someone with extensive experience of one of the most admired teaching systems in the world, please get in touch!

Personal Description:
Educated locally at Hele's School in Exeter and then at Oxford where I studied Modern Languages and later trained professionally as a teacher, I have been able to keep at the forefront of developments in Languages teaching.

Teaching Experience:

I have a wealth of experience of teaching Modern Langauges over the past 30 years to students of all ages and abilities in a variety of educational establishments and more recently have tutored privately on a one to one basis.
My clients include those wishing to learn for fun/holidays, those studying for examinations ( GCSE, A/S level, A level, IB, and undergraduate and postgraduate students),people wishing to be able to use a foreign language for business purposes and those who wish to relocate abroad.
I have been a Head of Modern Langauges department and examiner for GCSE and A level and so am fully up to date with the current requirements of all the exam. boards and can help you with the best way to get the maximum result from your knowledge.

Tutoring Approach:

I believe that anyone can learn a language given the right teacher.
I tailor the sessions to suit your individual requirements whether you want to learn for business, pleasure, travel, examinations... or just for fun!
A FREE no- obligation introductory session allows us to look together at your particular requirements and to plan your success in language learning. This allows you to discuss what your exact needs are and lets me show you how I can go about helping you to achieve your goals.
I also strongly recommend that you contact a couple of my former and current students( all are happy for me to let you have their contact details) and have an informal chat with them before coming to a final decision. It's quite easy to match you up with someone who has either had or is currently having from me the kind of tuition you are looking for.You can then ask them how they got on or are getting on.
I do hope you will get in touch and look forward to being able to make a start with helping you.

Personal Description:
I have always had an interest in languages, studying French, German and English at A-level, followed by a first class BA Dual Hons from Sheffield University in French and German, with a distinction for spoken Swedish. After graduating in 2003 I completed an MA with Distinction in Translation (French and German) and undertook some freelance translation work. After a 'career break' from languages to become a Mum of three girls (aged 8,6 and 3), I am now offering tuition in French and German.
Alongside my language qualifications, I also play piano to post grade 8 standard, and achieved a DipLCM in Performance in 2009. I currently work part-time as a peripatetic piano teacher in two local primary schools. I now also offer music theory tuition up to grade 5 level.

Teaching Experience:

I have been teaching piano pupils either privately from home or within the school environment since 2003, which has been a great way to refine and develop my one-to-one teaching skills; I love being able to move at the pupil's own pace and respond to their individual needs which is a luxury that private tutors can enjoy. I have also worked with adults and university students who want to refresh their skills rather than work towards specific exams. Recently I have gained experience supporting a student through an Open University programme, which focused on speaking and the fundamentals of German grammar.

Tutoring Approach:

I am happy to respond to the needs of each individual pupil and tailor a programme to suit your needs; if you have particular subject weaknesses that you would like to work on then they can be addressed, or if you have particular topic areas that are of interest to you then we can develop those. I will work with the syllabus requirements that you are working towards, and provide you with work for home in between lessons as required.

Also, due to my background in translation, my specialist area is grammar and writing skills should that be an area that you are keen to work on!

Teaching Experience:

I have experience with 1-2-1 and group tuition for Primary, Secondary and University students as well as Adult casual learners.

I have experience teaching groups, as I have been delivering a Spanish course for a company since September 2012.

I also have experience designing my own teaching materials and delivering them at a high school in Barcelona, where I worked with 11 to 18 year-old students.

I have also participated in many tandem-programmes, where I helped German students improve their Spanish.

Moreover, I have worked as a proofreader and translator, which has helped me improve when helping students with writing assignments.

Personal Description:
I have been a teacher all my professional life, although for ten years I worked in the theatre as an actor, fight director and singer. I love teaching and I love music. Most importantly, perhaps, I have never stopped learning!

Teaching Experience:

I have been teaching English, French and German for 25 years. I studied English at Oxford; worked in Germany, studied in Spain and have my main home in France. My first GCSE Spanish class all achieved A* and A grades. I recently trained in Teaching English as a Foreign Language, so I feel up to date with current teaching methodology. Nevertheless, I adapt my teaching style and methods to benefit my tutees. I teach adult evening classes and give private tuition in French, Spanish, German and English Literacy.

Tutoring Approach:

I will come to your home and talk to you about what your learning requirements are and will tutor in order for you to maximise your potential in line with your requirements. All tutees have different learning styles and preferences, too, so I will pick up on yours and shape our lessons accordingly. We will work proactively, and there will be specific goals and targets for each lesson so that you will be able to chart your progress. My colleagues think I have a great sense of humour, and I have sometimes found it to be helpful in a teaching situation. I am, however, totally professional in the conduct of my lessons and tutorials.

Personal Description:
I am a recent graduate of the University of Warwick. Having studied European Law on the German stream, I am well equipped to tutor students in the fields of Law and German respectively. My expertise in Law includes going through the complex issues of a case, and scrutinising it closely to come to a logical compromise or solution.

Teaching Experience:

I have extensive experience teaching kids from 11-18 years old, having been a voluntary youth worker for the past 4 years. I have also acted as a tutor for German students taking both GCSEs and A-levels and so I have experience making my lessons to the requirements of various examination boards, such as OCR, AQA and Edexcel.

Tutoring Approach:

I tailor-make my lessons to the student's particular age and knowledge and I like to get to know the students so I can adapt my teaching methods to what they enjoy. For example, some students (like myself) are colour learners, meaning they learn easier when things are in colour than black and white. Others enjoy the more hands on experience, meaning they learn more by breaking complex theories down into day-to-day examples. I have experience dealing with a wide calibre of students and I think the best approach to tutoring is to be flexible enough to suit their needs.

Personal Description:
I am a recent graduate of Durham (BA History), and UCL (MA Central and South Eastern European Studies). I spent the last three academic years studying and tutoring.

My main areas of interest are humanities and languages and I am an enthusiastic and passionate communicator. I currently hold a CRB certificate. I offer History to A level and below, English Literature to A-Level and below and Ancient Greek to A-Level and below.

Teaching Experience:

I am a very experienced tutor, having spent the past two academic years tutoring a range of subjects, and have a passion for teaching and communication. Having been a part time participant of mainstream education until recently, and having tutored four different pupils at different levels in different subjects in that time, I have a clear understanding of the structure of current A-Level courses and the necessary requirements. All my previous pupils unanimously achieved high grades.

Tutoring Approach:

I tailor my tutoring approach to the tutee's needs and the subject being taught. Generally, I do a combination of exam technique, subject revision and coursework support. I have made many an amusing yet educational quiz and encourage pupils as much as possible for them to achieve the best grade possible.

Personal Description:
Hi. I graduated from the University of Surrey in 2007 with a degree in Law and German, after which I moved to mainland Europe, teaching English as a Foreign Language, German, French and Italian at both primary and secondary school level and also to adult/university learners.

I returned to the UK in 2011 to embark on my Postgraduate Certificate in Education in Modern Foreign Languages, specializing in German, French and Italian.

Teaching Experience:

I have experience of teaching in UK secondary schools and I have a thorough understanding of the requirements of the National Curriculum for Modern Foreign Languages at Key Stage 3 and 4. I am also familiar with the various A-Level specifications from different exam boards.

Furthermore, during my time on the continent, I taught English as a Foreign Language for 3 years and I have extensive knowledge and experience of all the Cambridge exams including the Young Learner, FCE, CAE, CPE and IELTS.

In addition to teaching English as a Foreign Language, I taught German and Italian and therefore I am accustomed to teaching the German International (Zertifikat Deutsch) exams and also the Italian International (CELI and CILS) exams.

I have taught at various English summer camps and therefore, I am experienced in making substantial progress in a short period of time, especially with regard to speaking and listening skills.

Tutoring Approach:

I find it is important to consider the way in which each students learns, allowing me to tailor resources and activities, so that the students progress as quickly and painlessly as possible. I enjoy using activities that get students involved in using the language as much as possible, including (as and when appropriate) games, role plays, songs, practical activities etc.

My specialist area is in helping individuals to develop study skills and exam skills. Irrespective of what subject you are studying I can help you with writing skills, reading skills and research skills. I am also able to help you develop strategies to pass examinations.

I have wide ranging experience in teaching essay writing and helping students and adults of all ages to complete smaller and larger writing and research projects.

I have a PhD in history (Early Modern), but I have also taught modern history at A level and undergraduate level, this includes modern British and European history, including subjects such as The European Dictatorships, The Cold War, The Spanish Civil War and many aspects of 19th and 20th Century History. I also teach modern politics and I am conversant with the history of political and religious ideas.

Teaching Experience:

I am a fully qualified post 16 teacher and have taught a range of subjects in the humanities.

I lived for 10 years in Germany and achieved a distinction in German at undergraduate level. I have taught German for beginners and can teach up to German A level and give advice on German at undergraduate level.

Tutoring Approach:

I have a great deal of experience in tutoring students with low confidence. I can help with improving and consolidating existing knowledge and boosting confidence.

My main aim, therefore, when teaching is to build confidence and encourage students to approach their work with a positive attitude and a 'believe in yourself and you will do your best' style of approach. So the building of self confidence and self esteem is central to my teaching with all students and all ages.

Personal Description:
I am very patient in my approach and ensure that my students fully understand the topic.

It is vital to be a good listener as a tutor and to adapt your tutoring style and approach to the student, as everyone learns in different ways and what works for one may not work for another. Therefore my approach to teaching is to be flexible and to adapt my tutoring style according to what is best for each student.

Teaching Experience:

From my career history I showed that I have people skills, that I can work well with other people.

I taught Italian students aged between 12- 35 for one year while I was running my university degree.

I am Romanian mother tongue, I moved to Italy at the age of 19 to start university in Turin, and after I finished my BA in foreign languages German - English I moved to London. I was able to face many obstacles and manage to achieve my goals moving abroad (Italy, United Kingdom) .
Being a teacher means being a professional. My professional appearance will let the students know that I take the job seriously and that I am responsible.
Living in a new country United Kingdom, Italy, I am used to find myself in unexpected situations and to be flexible.

Tutoring Approach:

My approach varies depending on the student's needs and learning style.
I prefer focusing on exam-style or past paper questions in order to check, practice and perfect the student's understanding. Where appropriate I set and mark work, giving students detailed feedback so that they can improve quickly.
I use questions and homework to check understanding continually.

Personal Description:
Hi,

I am Katia, 25 years old, and I'm currently studying psychology at the postgraduate level (1st year PhD) at the University of Sheffield.

I am a native German speaker and experienced private tutor. I love to share my passion for learning with others.

I hold degrees from the University of Cambridge (MPhil) and Jacobs University Bremen, Germany (BA).

In my leisure time, I enjoy playing sports (volleyball, tennis), music, reading, and going out with friends.

Teaching Experience:

I have privately tutored more than 15 pupils for more than 10 years now, mostly in language-related subjects such as English, Latin, and German.

Due to my extensive range of tutoring experience I am able to tailor my lessons to every type of need and skill level.

Moreover, I have worked twice as a teaching assistant supporting professors during my undergraduate studies at Jacobs University Bremen, Germany, which I relished very much.

Tutoring Approach:

I value an open and warm relationship between myself and my students. Ideally, my students never hesitate to ask questions or discuss what is on their minds.

I endorse a holistic approach to tutoring in the sense that I aim to teach not only certain contents, but also different learning strategies and transferable skills (for example, presentation skills, critical thinking skills).

Most importantly, it is crucial for me to motivate and inspire my students, so they can develop an appreciation of learning and education more generally.

Personal Description:
I am currently taking a gap year; having decided to change my university course (from German and History at the University of Birmingham to French and German with the Open University). I am currently considering a teaching career and would love to tutor some secondary school students.

Teaching Experience:

I have been volunteering in the Modern Foreign Languages department of my local school, Ounsdale High School, since January 2013. During my time in the classroom I am involved in marking and checking homework, answering any questions put to me by the students and doing anything else required of me by the students of the teacher. I have also been taking groups of students away from the classroom to complete tests and work on their spoken language skills.

Tutoring Approach:

I hope to provide students with a relaxed environment in which to learn.
