Personal Description:
I have been tutoring students for the last 7 years and have broad experience in tutoring at the GCSE and A levels in Biology and Life Science. I have a PhD in Biochemistry from the University of Bristol, and a Masters in Biological Sciences from the University of Leicester. I have been in academia for the last 10 years and am passionate about the subjects I teach.

Teaching Experience:

I am currently tutoring A level and GCSE students in Biology and my experience in tutoring dates back to more than 7 years. I have also tutored undergraduate students at Bristol and Reading University. In addition to online tutoring, I am also able to tutor offline and cater to tailor-made courses as well as to individual requirements of the student.

Tutoring Approach:

My aim is to try and imbibe in my student a liking of the subject as well as help him/her achieve a high grade. My approach is very interactive and I like to break the factual monotony of the subjects by providing interesting examples which will help to draw the tutee's attention as well help her to remember. I try to interact with the tutee on a one to one basis and identify the weak and strong areas. I then focus on these areas and work accordingly bearing in mind the tutees requirements. I am a political enthusiast who has spent the last few years building up a successful department in a secondary school to impart this enthusiasm to students from a region where political apathy is rife. I am a keen cyclist and traveller and enjoy the occasional healthy debate on a variety of topical issues.
I graduated from Birmingham University's School of Education with a PGCE (Med level) in History and Citizenship following on from my previous qualifications; Master of Arts in Global Politics and Human rights Law and Bachelor of Arts In International Relations and Law (LLB). I am currently the Head of Faculty for Humanities at a secondary school in the West Midlands. I have seven years teaching experience as well as four years experience tutoring students, including one-to-one sessions, in Politics, Law, History and English as a foreign language. In my tenure as Head of Political Studies my students have achieved 100% pass rate at A-Level and AS and all students have met or surpassed their target grades.

I am a fully qualified Geography Teacher with a BSc (2i) Honours Degree and PGCE in Geography with Geology from Birmingham University in Edgbaston and I specialise in Physical Geography at Advanced Level. I gained the David Linton University prize for fieldwork. I have lived in Farnham for over 21 years ( local knowledge I believe is important especially to Geography). I am married to Martin and we have 4 delightful children, two girls and two boys aged 14-22. Our eldest two are at University (Bristol & Surrey), the youngest in the local State Secondary School. I have also been involved with local youth and community work during my time out of the classroom and have had extensive training in Pastoral Care seeing each person as unique & individual. I have taught in both the Private and State Sectors in 11-18 schools as well recently in as a Sixth Form College, teaching Geography to Key Stages (KS) 3,4 and 5. Tutoring Approach:

I believe one to one tutoring can make all the difference for some pupils particularly when it comes to training in exam technique; dealing with individual topic difficulties; practising papers and building confidence in ones own abilities so encouraging independent learning. There are plenty of resources to aid learning out there in this day and age but often it is hard to find the wood from the trees and learning to focus and find the best for the individual is not always easy. I believe it is crucial to assess the individual student needs and learning styles in the first instance and then build the lessons from there. This requires flexibility, experience and maturity on the part of the Tutor and this is what I feel I can offer as both an experienced teacher and mother of 4 of my own children.

I am nineteen years of age and am currently studying English Language and Literature at Oxford University. I am a fourth year student at Glasgow University, studying Geography with Scottish Literature and English Language. I studied French in my first university year and all throughout secondary school. I achieved six A's at Higher and two A's at Advanced Higher (French and Geography). I can tutor English and Geography, as well as providing general essay-writing support for subjects that are 'writing heavy' (whether you require help structuring essays, assistance with spelling/grammar/punctuation, or simply a little help getting started!). Teaching Experience:

I have experience tutoring English in the past two years, and I tutored a young secondary school pupil during my final year of school, for French. I also have experience doing voluntary work with young children, and childminding.

Tutoring Approach:

I believe that equal measures of patience, diligence and creativity are vital when trying to latch onto any subject. When I was at school, my favourite subject was English, but it is only now that I study literature at university that I can look back on my progress and understand how I got to grips with essay writing. Struggling to understand what makes a good essay and the structure required is what seems to turn most pupils off essay-driven subjects, so I would be pleased to concentrate greatly on this and to try to break down the process into something more understandable, approachable and manageable.

I understand that every pupil studies and learns in a different way and thrives in different environments, so I would definitely take this into account with each pupil I tutor. As I have been through every year of exams at secondary school, getting more and more demanding and stressful each time (!), I have eventually discovered my personal study style, but in honing this to my own preference I have tried and experienced different methods along the way, some of which work for some people and some of which work for others.

Most importantly of all, I aim to strike the balance between a relaxed and equal student:tutor relationship (which I think is the main point of having a tutor closer to the age of the pupil, as it gives a refreshing change to the classroom environment) and actually getting the work done and seeing progress in the allotted time. I would plan and punctuate each study session with appropriate breaks and perhaps more enjoyable ways to test what has been learnt, like using study cards, etc, at the end of a session, but all the time making the very most of the time given.

I am a PhD student, undertaking my doctorate in Environmental Sciences, with a focus on soil nutrient cycling and nutrient transport to surface and ground waters. I completed my BSc in Physical Geography at the University of Exeter and gained first class honours in this.

Teaching Experience:

I carried out teacher training at a basic level with the University of Exeter in order to participate in the Students Associates Scheme. After this training I spent three weeks in a local secondary school where I actively participated in Geography and Religious Studies lessons, and was able to provide work plans for higher and lower achieving students. I also worked closely with students that had special educational needs.

In my first AS Maths exam in January I got a C. But by June I was achieving A grades and never slipped below this again. I believe that it was tutoring that was the catalyst for my improvement. It gave me the confidence to ask questions but it also showed me that the rapid pace of classroom learning doesn't suit everyone. Tutoring should consolidate what is taught in schools and should only push children beyond their age range's ability if the child is comfortable with this and has a keen interest in the subject.

I am a university student currently studying at the university of St Andrews for a Honours program in Zoology. I am a native French speaker ( I actually am French) and was awarded the distinction of best French A-level results in East Africa in 2011, with a score of 499/500. I performed well both at IGCSE'S and A-levels ( IGCSE 6 A*'s and 4 A's, geography, Chemistry and Biology were among the A*'s, and are the subjects I took at A level, in which I achieved A* AA in the same order).
Last year, after a long and complicated admission process, I was offered a place to go study at Oxford University, but unfortunately had to decline it due to financial hardship.
I have lived in Kenya for now 7 years, and have a genuine interest in animal behaviour and conservation.

Teaching Experience:

I do not have much experience when it comes to teaching to be perfectly honest, although I often volunteered to be a student helper for those who had difficulties with certains subjects in my whole school. I am very familiar with the A-level syllabus by CIE, and the exam techniques required at this particular exam board.
I can offer advice and assistance with university application process too, as I was tutored to match Oxford requirements in terms of personal statements and interviews, I can also give you some tips about the Oxford interview processes.
