Personal Description:
I have been tutoring students for the last 7 years and have broad experience in tutoring at the GCSE and A levels in Biology and Life Science. I have a PhD in Biochemistry from the University of Bristol, and a Masters in Biological Sciences from the University of Leicester. I have been in academia for the last 10 years and am passionate about the subjects I teach.

I adopt an interactive approach with the tutee, providing interesting examples to break the monotony and to help the tutee remember the subject better. My teaching style is methodical, and the progress of my students is of paramount importance. I take into account the individual needs of the tutee so that I can help the tutee achieve a good grade. I can provide online tutoring as well as travel to the tutee's home.

Teaching Experience:

I am currently tutoring A level and GCSE students in Biology and my experience in tutoring dates back to more than 7 years. I have also tutored undergraduate students at Bristol and Reading University. In addition to online tutoring, I am also able to tutor offline and cater to tailor-made courses as well as to individual requirements of the student.

Tutoring Approach:

My aim is to try and imbibe in my student a liking of the subject as well as help him/her achieve a high grade. My approach is very interactive and I like to break the factual monotony of the subjects by providing interesting examples which will help to draw the tutee's attention as well help her to remember. I try to interact with the tutee on a one to one basis and identify the weak and strong areas. I then focus on these areas and work accordingly bearing in mind the tutees requirements. I am a committed individual and do my best to keep the interests of the tutee on the forefront.

Personal Description:
An interest in scientific research and contemporary problems in Biology lead to me to pursue an honours degree in Biology, with an emphasis on the molecular cell aspect and often held a heavy Chemistry or Physics component. I studied at the University of York and by my third year I had a profound interest in both the molecular component of Cancer and Neuro-degeneration, my dissertation used Drosophila as a way of determining whether the peripheral nervous system was essential for wound healing.

A keen interest in research was only greater enthused with an opportunity to spend four months at the Max Planck Institute for Molecular Plant Physiology in Germany, this provided me with an excellent opportunity to understand and relate my scientific knowledge with research that was being undertaken. Working alongside some of the most respected experts in the field was an opportunity I still value as I gained experience in the structure of Scientific research.

Teaching Experience:

As the oldest sibling I have experience in tutoring younger siblings at GCSE and A-Level subjects.

After my degree in biology I undertook a Secondary PGCE in Science at Durham University. I am also currently studying for an MA in Education at Durham University.

I am currently a Science Teacher at the local secondary school and teach KS3, KS4 and KS5 Sciences.

Tutoring Approach:

Before I begin tutoring I will try and locate any misconceptions that the pupil may have and go from there. I will ask the pupil to identify areas of difficulty (or pin point them myself) and break down the work to a basic level before building it back up again. I will ensure there are a diverse range of resources prepared before each tutoring session.

Personal Description:
My experience of education was fantastic, but it might not have been were it not for the inspiration and encouragement that I recieved from a number of outstanding teachers I had. It was their example that led me to start teaching as a career. I have found that helping others to learn and achieve academic success gives immense job satisfaction.

Outside my studies and work, I am unsurprisingly a keen reader and am currently reading up on all the historical periods and topics that I will have to teach this year. My other main passion is judo in which I train, compete and coach regularly. I have always been very physically active and at the moment am also enjoying cycling. On top of that I have an interest in music, a wide variety of sports and live comedy. I am a member of the Tate and enjoy visiting museums and galleries.

Teaching Experience:

At present I am working as a trainee history teacher in a North London secondary school preparing and delivering lessons for year 7, 8, 9, 10 and 13 classes as well as doing the required assessment for these groups.

On top of this I have over three years experience of teaching English as a foreign language in Portugal, the UK and Hong Kong. This has involved working with students of many nationalities, ages and abilities. Latterly though, my focus was on preparing foreign students for Cambridge Exams (FCE, CAE and CPE) and IELTS. I am happy to say that to date, I have a 100% pass rate, with a high number of 'A' grade passes. As well as tutoring English and history to University level, I also tutor geography and government/politics and prepare younger students for Common Entrance exams.

Tutoring Approach:

The real benefit of tutoring over classroom teaching is the degree of personalisation that the one-to-one situation makes possible. As such, it is always my aim to tailor my courses to the needs of my tutee as closely as possible. This includes initial discussions of what is required, as well as some quick tests to determine what kind of learning styles the tutee displays. In the case of English as a foreign language a level test is also essential. After the first meeting though, I put together a draft course programme for my tutees. Once the programme is agreed, I plan my lessons to cover the required material using a variety of methodologies and approches to ensure that lessons are informative and focussed, but also, importantly, fun!

Personal Description:
I am a fully qualified Geography Teacher with a BSc (2i) Honours Degree and PGCE in Geography with Geology from Birmingham University in Edgbaston and I specialise in Physical Geography at Advanced Level. I gained the David Linton University prize for fieldwork. I have lived in Farnham for over 21 years ( local knowledge I believe is important especially to Geography). I am married to Martin and we have 4 delightful children, two girls and two boys aged 14-22. Our eldest two are at University (Bristol & Surrey), the youngest in the local State Secondary School. I have followed our children's education closely and encouraged them on their way, so feel I have much way of personal experience.
I have also been involved with local youth and community work during my time out of the classroom and have had extensive training in Pastoral Care seeing each person as unique & individual. I take pleasure in helping to bring out the very best in each individual and this comes with encouraging young people to be disciplined in study and to grow in confidence and believe in their own abilities, one to one tutoring/coaching plays a vital role here and has many benefits.

Teaching Experience:

I have taught in both the Private and State Sectors in 11-18 schools as well recently in as a Sixth Form College, teaching Geography to Key Stages (KS) 3,4 and 5. I am experienced in coaching pupils in Geography/Geology to GSCE, AS, A2 (various boards) and IB exam levels. but am also experienced & qualified to teach science at KS 2,3 &4. I have tutored for Common Extrance Exam Level in Science and have found this to be very rewarding for both tutee & tutor. I have experience in careers advise too.
I love teaching and enthuse about my subjects, Geography& Environmental Science are so much fun, and link both the Arts & Sciences, subjects that are so relevant and topical, extremely practical and liked by Higher Education Establishments and employers alike. I work as a part-time teacher in school to enable time for tutoring one-to-one which I find so rewarding. A recent example is an A2 Geography student who was so pleased to achieve a grade "B", he worked so hard and improved substantially on his predicted D grade. He is now at University and has kept in touch.

Tutoring Approach:

I believe one to one tutoring can make all the difference for some pupils particularly when it comes to training in exam technique; dealing with individual topic difficulties; practising papers and building confidence in ones own abilities so encouraging independent learning. There are plenty of resources to aid learning out there in this day and age but often it is hard to find the wood from the trees and learning to focus and find the best for the individual is not always easy. I believe it is crucial to assess the individual student needs and learning styles in the first instance and then build the lessons from there. This requires flexibility, experience and maturity on the part of the Tutor and this is what I feel I can offer as both an experienced teacher and mother of 4 of my own children.

Personal Description:
I am an undergraduate studying Engineering Science at the University of Oxford. I have recently completed my first year of study of a four-year course, gaining a distinction in the process. My academic results have been consistently excellent, providing me with a firm understanding of my chosen subjects.
I enjoy engaging people with new and potentially challenging ideas, encouraging them to progress academically. The exchange of ideas between tutor and tutee is something that I particularly enjoy and continue to focus on.

Teaching Experience:

My most notable tutoring experience was tutoring a young person, in Key Stage 3, in their studies for four to six hours a week for about two years. I was paid to tutor in all his subjects and my work mostly consisted of expanding on the syllabus, reviewing his homework and preparing him for tests. The tutee was not of English origin and a significant part of my work included improving his English. The pupil achieved top set for all his subjects as well as consistently high grades.
Secondly, I have gained tutoring experience overseeing a group of around twenty male pupils in Key Stage 2 and 3, providing constructive help with their homework and classwork. This was done for one hour per week for approximately six months as part of a Duke of Edinburgh Silver Award. A key part of this experience was keeping the boys on task and focused.
Thirdly, I spent two years in the RAF Combined Cadet Force during sixth form where I rose to the rank of Sergeant. As a senior cadre, I was expected to do numerous presentations to the cadets informing them on the ethics, workings and history of the RAF as well as some of the principles of flight and navigation. This particularly provided me with great confidence to not only engage a variety of people but also communicated difficult and at times relatively dry subjects.

Tutoring Approach:

My approach to tutoring is fundamentally based on incentive and reward. I believe a small bribe of chocolate biscuits, gold stars etc. can go a long way towards motivating the tutee. I also aim to provide inventive exercises for the pupil, for example, with my young male tutee an exercise in learning vocabulary would be turned into some sort of game, typically with a small competitive element added in.
Ultimately, I wish for the tutee to gain an interest in a particular field of study and by presenting topics in an interesting light I feel they are able to do so.

Personal Description:
My name is Tamsin and I am a UCL (University College London) graduate as of 2012, obtaining an upper second class honours degree in Bsc Anthropology (2:1) (68). I live in Kensington, London and am currently doing a Masters in Science in MSc Demography and Health at the London School Of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine. I went to Queen's Gate School in South Kensington till I was 16, before moving to Hurtwood House in Surrey, where I completed A-Levels in Art, French and English Literature and an additional AS Level in Theatre Studies. Hurtwood was an incredible school in terms of encouraging my more creative side. However, during my time at UCL, i refound my passion for science (in particularly human biology) and actually ended up specialising my studies in anthropology in a medical/biologically orientated direction.

Personality-wise, I'm an outgoing, strong-willed and determined young girl who really loves being in a learning environment. I love intellectual debates and discussions and I welcome the chance to help others and maybe in the process learn a few things myself!

Teaching Experience:

Whilst at school I used to work with young french children. One of my old teachers asked me if I would like the job (they were her personal family friends) and so after school I would help them with their English, teaching them grammar and vocabulary, doing exercises with them but also trying to make it more fun by incorporating games. I'd also converse with them and if they didn't understand, help them translate it.

Tutoring Approach:

My approach to tutoring would be highly dependant on a multitude of factors such as age, gender, subject, level of interest and level of ability. These would have a substantial effect on my method of teaching.

Nevertheless, what applies to all ages is keeping what is being taught fresh and interesting, determining the best way that someone learns (i.e. whether by interaction, reading/writing or listening) and making use of this in the most time effective and engaging manner.

In turn, I also believe determination and patience to be vital in any approach to tutoring.

Personal Description:
My name is Helen and I'm in my 4rd year studying Geophysics and Meteorology at Edinburgh University (my first two years were maths and physics based). I have always felt it important to participate in extra-curricular activities to compliment academic work. As a result of this, in the last few years I have achieved my gold Duke of Edinburgh Award and also developed my skills playing Underwater Hockey. I have now played for Scotland in 3 world tournaments and enjoy passing on my skills through being a swimming teacher.

Teaching Experience:

I have always loved teaching and have therefore had experience in several fields, with a varied age of pupils.

Academically I have tutored Maths and Physics at standard grade, intermediate 2 and higher level. My musical teaching experience includes teaching Flute and Piano for 2 years and running a youth music group aimed at 5-10 year olds.

I have coached underwater hockey to 11-19 year olds for the past 7 years and I have been a swimming teacher for last 2 years coaching children from ages 4-9, including children with behavioral disabilities. My experience teaching in all these areas and age ranges has helped me understand the best way to make my teaching enjoyable and effective at all levels.

Tutoring Approach:

Nobody finds it easy to learn a subject they don't enjoy, so I tailor lessons for each individual to make them as engaging and enjoyable as possible. After assessing the learning styles of each individual I set realistic targets to aim for, this is also useful for monitoring progress. I plan all of my lessons in advance to ensure no lesson time is wasted.

Personal Description:
Hello there! My name is Giles, I am a friendly and enthusiastic tutor. I'm currently studying for my masters degree in Cultural Geography, having studied music and geography at university. As well as geography and music, at A level I studied Physics, and at AS I did Maths and Chemistry as well. I got As in all my A-levels (and when I was studying, you couldn't get A*s). I'm more than happy to teach any of these subjects to anyone.

Teaching Experience:

I have many years of tutoring in varied locations and circumstances. Since I started university I have been tutoring, varying from one to one tuition to teaching larger groups. I have taught at GCSE, A level and undergraduate level. Each time, I was able to significantly improve the grades students attained, and the enjoyment the students got out of their subject. I understand that each student has a different set of skills and prior knowledge, and I alter my teaching to suit everyone.
For GCSE candidates, there is an awful lot to cover and the pressure can really mount up! I offer a personalized mixture of exam technique, providing useful tips on revision, and helping students build up the knowledge base in their subject/s.
For A level candidates I have used a variety of approaches, making sure that the key bases are covered: strong empirical knowledge; sound understand of underlying theories; exam practice, honing writing and critical reading skills. I have not failed a candidate yet: candidates worried about university places have passed with flying colours into their first choices. One A level candidate saw marks improve from an E to an A, while two others have now started on their dream courses.
For University students, the work load is large. The pressures of reading for courses and seminars while keeping track of writing, group projects and presentations is a real sea change from school, and many students can find this sea-change a struggle.

Tutoring Approach:

Each student is different, different competencies, strengths and weaknesses. Sometimes students who know a lot of key knowledge find it difficult to get that onto the page, others needing help with key theories, or exam technique, for example. I offer bespoke help with learning the subject knowledge, help with theory and practice, revision technique, exam help, and extra help to push talented candidates, to make sure they are getting the best possible grades.

Personal Description:
I am a university student currently studying at the university of St Andrews for a Honours program in Zoology. I am a native French speaker ( I actually am French) and was awarded the distinction of best French A-level results in East Africa in 2011, with a score of 499/500. I performed well both at IGCSE'S and A-levels ( IGCSE 6 A*'s and 4 A's, geography, Chemistry and Biology were among the A*'s, and are the subjects I took at A level, in which I achieved A* AA in the same order).
Last year, after a long and complicated admission process, I was offered a place to go study at Oxford University, but unfortunately had to decline it due to financial hardship.
I have lived in Kenya for now 7 years, and have a genuine interest in animal behaviour and conservation.

Teaching Experience:

I do not have much experience when it comes to teaching to be perfectly honest, although I often volunteered to be a student helper for those who had difficulties with certains subjects in my whole school. I am very familiar with the A-level syllabus by CIE, and the exam techniques required at this particular exam board.
I can offer advice and assistance with university application process too, as I was tutored to match Oxford requirements in terms of personal statements and interviews, I can also give you some tips about the Oxford interview processes.

Tutoring Approach:

I will first ask the person to tell me by email what their difficulties are, and what they would like us to go through together so that I can get together the information and any details necessary before meeting and discussing it. I am fairly flexible, everyone learns in a different manner and I will try my best to match my tutoring to the person's learning habits.
