| Personal Description: I am a young and dynamic geography teacher. I have studied Geography up to degree level, and hold a postgraduate certificate in education (teaching qualification). |
Teaching Experience: I am a qualified teacher, who is currently teaching geography at a secondary school in Sandwell. |
Tutoring Approach: I believe that one to one tutoring enables the learner to work upon areas that they may struggle with. I believe that the key to learning is to do little and often, that also involves the student taking an active part in their learning. Having tutored family, and friends of family previously, whilst also having been tutored when I was at school, I believe that it is important that students do work throughout the week, not just at specified tutoring sessions. I am dedicated to helping students to their best, and achieve their own potential. |

| Personal Description: I am a student at the University of Bath working towards a Masters in International Education. I'm an American who recently moved here after graduating with a Bachelors in Education from Boston College. I love teaching and working with kids! |
Teaching Experience: As part of my degree, I taught students from age 5 - 13. I also have plenty of experience working one on one through tutoring sessions with students who have a first language that's not English. On top of this, I was a lead teacher and assistant program director for an afterschool program for students aged 3 - 13. |
Tutoring Approach: My tutoring approach is similar to my teaching approach. I think the most important thing is to ensure that the student is interested and enjoying what they're studying. If a student is not interested in the material then they're not going to really learn it, plain and simple. I also have a personal philosophy that if one of my students doesn't understand something than it is my problem and not theirs. My job is to teach and if the student struggles then I need to change my approach. |

| Personal Description: I am an enthusiastic, proactive tutor who thrives on helping others achieve their potential within a safe, positive, fun learning environment. Recent school-based teaching experience covers 11-19yrs with pastoral duties and teaching observation in primary school. I offer Music and Business studies and have enjoyed assisting with Key Stage 3 ICT, French and English. With a degree in Music, I have experience playing in orchestras, windbands, chamber groups, contemporary and folk groups, singing, african drumming. My 15 year career covers working for a small rapidly expanding business, running my own business and working for the water and environment sector of a global corporation. |
Teaching Experience: My strength lies in small group or 1:1 tutoring. Prior to taking my PGCE I have 17 years experience of teaching music privately to all levels, for example 1:1 tutoring for those taking oboe, flute, singing, theory grades or A'level, and coaching small groups of students who simply want to learn to play an instrument. This also helps reduce costs. My PGCE included a Business Diploma enhancement with shadowing of GCSE and BTech Business studies to draw on my varied business experience to enhance the learning of others. During my career I have been involved in training at different levels for example presenting Personal Development training sessions to team members, supervising and training students from Eastern Europe and training graduates in India. I spent last summer teaching English to primary children and adults. I am now formalising this experience with the Cert.TESOL. |
Tutoring Approach: My approach is friendly, informal and fun while enabling students to work at their own pace. By helping students set realistic targets students remain more focused and challenged in their learning whilst being encouraged by achieving. During a tutor session the emphasis is on student led learning to encourage students to 'think outside of the box' and broaden their own approach to learning. My philosophy is to help them help themselves. I simply want to enthuse, inspire and guide students to build their confidence and skills so they are motivated to achieve and be the best they can be. A session will often start with a reflection on what they already know about a subject to develop thought processes. Knowledge is developed through practical application, developing relevant skills and exploring the wider context through various activities. Whatever the subject students need to understand the relevance of what they are learning. Sessions end with reflection to reinforce learning. For those studying for GCSE/ A'Levels / Diplomas I offer rigorous exam technique, revision guidance and practice. I had a superb tutor who helped me pass my 11+ which built my confidence and is a reason why I wish to help others. I recognise the value of a patient and understanding tutor whom you can trust to help you achieve at your own pace, particularly in a more challenging subject where you may have fallen behind. |

| Personal Description: I am a recently qualified Primary School Teacher who holds a degree in Geography and Sports Studies. I am 29 years old, and have recently returned to London after living in Liverpool during the past 10 years. My main passions are travelling and sport. I will be working from September at Elliot Bank Primary School in Forest Hill. Elliot Bank is rated as an 'Outstanding School' following its last OFSTED report. |
Teaching Experience: I completed my teacher training in various schools in merseyside and qualified in January 2009. Since my return to London, I have worked as a supply teacher in many different schools in south London. This has given me valuable teaching experience. |
Tutoring Approach: For many children it is simply a case of building confidence in themselves on the subject in question. Unless I am given specific instructions by the parents on what they would like me to focus on, I tend to use the first session to evaluate exactly where their child's strengths and weaknesses are. I would then devise a clear program to boast the child's knowledge in the areas where they were falling short. |

| Personal Description: I am very hard-working and creative person. Love to explore and believe in learning. Being an architect I have worked 5 years in my profession after my academics. During my academics I have been taking tuitions to earn for my expensive studies. Recently I got married and shifted here, considering the market situation I realise to take back my teaching skills and do something beneficial for this country rather then sitting ideal. |
Teaching Experience: I am an Architect having past 5 years tutoring experience during my academics in subjects like Maths, science, biology, geography for primary and junior standards. Apart from that I have always attended examinations as an examiner in most of the schools with my father being a teacher. |
Tutoring Approach: Tutoring gives you as a person to develop and learn things which you tend to forget in your past. On the other hand you are developing a child's brain with added efforts making them learn the right approach of learning. Kids are god gift and needs tutors when their parents or family doesn't give them those extra hours which they need desperately for not only their subjects but making them a bright human being to compete with this world. |

| Personal Description: I have recently graduated from Uni with a degree in Sports Medicine-I love all aspects of science-particularly biology. I studied biology, chemistry, and geography up to A level and physics to AS level continuing biology and chemistry into my first year at University. |
Teaching Experience: My teaching experience comes from both tutoring and coaching. From my coaching experiences (swimming and other sports) I was able to learn how best to present information and deliever it in a fun and enthusiastic way-from this I was able to apply it to my teaching style in a classroom/tutoring environment. I have tutored sciences as a combined subject and biology as an individual subject with all previous tutees achieving their goals, be it improved grades, mastering study skills or greater confidence with a particular subject . |
Tutoring Approach: I fully understand the frustration that sometimes comes along with having to receive tutoring and its association with failing or struggling at school. My approach to tutoring is to adapt my teaching style to suit how the individual learns- be it diagrams, practise questions or simply revisiting the basics and rebuilding the knowledge up step by step ensuring each step is understood before progressing. I also found practising exam technique and model answers throughout so that it becomes second nature is also beneficial. |

| Personal Description: Hi, my name is Julie (or Miss Wiseman if you prefer). I have worked in the City, in the computer industry, as a primary school teacher and a stage-hand! I currently help run a business with my partner providing sound systems and staging (hence the stage-hand). I have a 15 year old son, 2 German Shepherds and tortoise - but don't worry, I leave them behind when I come to you. |
Teaching Experience: I have a BEd (Hons)(Primary) and have taught in mainstream schools for 7 years. I am qualified to teach all subjects up to KS2 Level and as I have A' Levels in Maths, Further Maths & Physics, and specialised in Maths and ICT at college, I am able to teach these to a higher level. |
Tutoring Approach: I take a personal approach to tutoring - we start from what you know and work from there. If you don't understand something then it's my job to explain it differently and find a way in which you can. We are all very different and what may have worked with someone else might not be the right way for you. |

| Personal Description: I am an undergraduate at Oxford University studying Geography. I am a very keen sportsman, having represented my school and club's cricket 1st team. I was the Deputy Head of the Boarding House at the Royal Grammar School High Wycombe. I am available in Oxford during each 8 week term, and in Surrey and Berkshire during all holidays- which is over half the year. Averaging over 90% in my A levels, I would be well suited to tailoring my tutoring to effective and useful exam and revision techniques. For those students applying to university this year or next, I would also love to help you with your application, especially Personal Statements and interviews. |
Teaching Experience: Whilst at school, for 3 years I organised and took part in a mentoring scheme for students of all years up to AS Level in the boarding house. I was also chosen to teach English to a 'Gifted and Talented' class from another school. Since leaving school, I have been tutoring privately a wide range of students from 7-18 years old. |
Tutoring Approach: I am very flexible and can adapt my tutoring style to the needs of each individual. Whether your particular needs are factual and syllabus related, or if it's your exam or revision technique that you're looking to improve, then we can work together to create a highly successful and enjoyable study programme to ensure you achieve your full potential. |

| Personal Description: I recently graduated from the University of Sussex with a First in English Language and currently live in central Brighton. I'm a very friendly and caring person and have lots of experience of working and interacting with children and young people in an educational context. I am a creative and forward thinking tutor and enjoy finding ways to explain and remember difficult and unfamiliar concepts. Teaching and working with children is what I love, and this enjoyment makes me a reliable and amiable tutor. I can tutor most subjects between primary and GCSE level (including Maths and French) and can tutor A and AS Levels in Physics and English (Language & Literature). |
Teaching Experience: My first job was as an Activities Assistant in a local museum where I helped children learn and have fun while taking part in educational activities and workshops during the school holidays. I received formal training in child education and interaction. During sixth form I was selected and trained as a student mentor and met with a group of GCSE students every fortnight to discuss academic and personal issues. In the summer holidays during university I worked as a Children's University Tutor in Portsmouth, planning and running educational workshops for primary school children. These included arts and crafts, class trips and school-style lessons. I am currently a Study Support Worker for Brighton & Hove City Council and work in afterschool 'homework clubs' in libraries around the city where children and young people can get help and advice with their studies. I was also training in child education for this post. I have tutored a friend's children for the last year (primarily in Maths and Science) and would be happy to provide her details, or the deatils of any former employee, as a reference on request. |
Tutoring Approach: I am very flexible with regard to my approach. I am happy to visit a student's house or meet somewhere like a public library for the sessions or even tutor online (using MSN or Skype). I have found the best session length to be around an hour, although the homework clubs I work at run for slightly longer and I am more than happy to work for as long as the student wants to. I am happy to work on a regular weekly basis, for revision sessions prior to exams or just on a one-off or occasional basis. I find it best to use school textbooks or revision guides as the basis for tutoring but again I am flexible here. I bring my own stationery but will charge for other materials like textbooks, as well as for travel outside of Brighton & Hove. Just let me know what kind of tutoring you require and I will do my best to make it happen! |
