Personal Description:
Hello,
My name is Emma and I'm currently at law school in London training and studying to become a solicitor.
I am 21 years old but very hard working. I understand how hard studying can be but I am prepared to help whoever may need my help. My specialist areas are business studies as that was my undergraduate degree, French and Maths.
I am very approachable, patient woman and have lots of fun and challenging learning techniques to help your child tackle those harder problems at school.
I am based in Guildford in Surrey so I can come to your house as I can drive. Before we start tutoring I like to have a little discussion with you and your child in order to establish which learning techniques will best suit your child as well as learn a little bit about you and give you time to learn about me.

Teaching Experience:

This will be my first tutoring job on a one on one basis; however I've taught English in Tanzania when I went lived there and have taught larger classes in England.
I am a very studious woman and love to study. At university I coached two sports teams, four times a week so I understand the commitment and dedication that is required to teach. I also mentored new international students at university helping them settle into their new lives at university and to help with any course problems they had so I have developed good communication techniques.

Tutoring Approach:

I am very patient when I teach as I understand that not everyone will understand something the first time they hear it. I personally am a visual learner. By this I mean flashcards, coloured pens and any way that I find that visually I will be able to remember a concept. For example, when I was learning the countries in French, I created a world map and had the countries in French on a card and then would stick them on the map where I thought the French word matched the country and I also did the same for the human body. I am very happy to use these tools to help your child learn and it also helps to make the session fun!

Personal Description:
I'm a recent University of Glasgow Biochemistry and MSc International Project Management graduate. I'm a French national and have been living in the UK for 14 years. I'm a lovely person, very dynamic and love the one to one of tutoring. It makes me really happy to help someone achieve something they have worked so hard for.

Teaching Experience:

I have been tutoring privately now for 7 years and have seen my students come to grow in confidence, in understanding and in knowledge of their chosen topics. I saw a girl who I tutored for 7 months go from getting an 'Unclassified grade' in her Biology AS Level to a B in her A2. I have never seen a student of mine's grades stay the same post-tutoring and I am very proud of that.

Tutoring Approach:

I approach tutoring different ways depending on who the student is. I ask them questions about themselves, hobbies, favourite subjects etc; and then using that to better understand how they learn, I talk to them about their private learning and revision and the method of approach to that and to exams. And then I teach them using the method appropriate to their style of learning.

Personal Description:
I have a degree in Modern Languages and Literature with QTS and a post-degree Diploma in Teaching Foreign languages and a Masters in Sciences of Education - Educacional ICT.

Teaching Experience:

I have 14 years experience of teaching MFL at high school level and also to adults.
I teach Spanish, Portuguese, French and Latin. I taught at the University of California Santa Barbara as a Lecturer before I moved to UK, where my husband is from. I also worked for the Extremadura Government in Spain as a teacher and as a translator. I am now teaching in London, Spanish, French and Portuguese syllabuses and I have been involved in intensive exam preparation for students of GCSE and A levels. I also revise plans and advise PGCE students in Spanish and Portuguese.

Tutoring Approach:

I like to think of myself as a highly motivated and dedicated teacher of MFL that fosters high student self-expectation. This can be done by building commitment to quality education and developing strong bonds with students, parents and Faculty. For example, I believe in employing a variety of classroom techniques to raise achievement: I have recently developed a bank of resources for Spanish and French teaching to accommodate different learning styles. Aside from good teaching, assessing students' progress is important. For example target setting and monitoring is an important method in ensuring that students reach their potential. Finally, create motivating learning environments that capture the imagination of the students, using for example students performance charts with points to show each student's progress in each field and this can be used to monitor a student's acquisition of the target language.

Personal Description:
Hi there, I'm Bruno. I'm bilingual in Italian and English and I'm currently studying BA Modern Languages (French, Spanish, Portuguese). I have always gained the highest grades in languages, and endeavour to help your child achieve the same results. Another of my greatest passions is playing piano, having passed my Grade 8 exam in 2008.

Teaching Experience:

Aside from tutoring, I currently teach piano to children at a local youth centre, which I have found has helped my teaching methods considerably. Not only am I naturally enthusiastic when it comes to working with kids; I am also young, patient and experienced.

Tutoring Approach:

I like to take an informal approach to tutoring. I have learned that children learn quickest when they are relaxed and having fun. I will provide learning material and set homework on a regular basis to further challenge and stretch my pupils.

Personal Description:
I am a young, enthusiastic and committed teacher who has excellent relationships with the many young people I have taught in my career. I specialise in History and Spanish but am also offering English, French and German too to GCSE level. I have achieved excellent GCSE results with my own individual students and then collectively as the Head of History at my school. I believe in every single student being able to achieve in subjects such as History and languages and am confident in teaching to the A-A* level as well as to the C grade level for tutees who are requiring tuition in preparation for an examination. I am easy going but yet determined to get the best out of every student/person that I teach/tutor. I am quite out going and confident, I love horse riding when I am not teaching and I try to put in 100% in all that I do and private tutoring will be no different :)

Teaching Experience:

I have been teaching 7 years and am currently entering my 8th year as a teacher. I am Head of the History department at a large secondary school in South Yorkshire where I have always worked since qualifying, and currently teach 5 examination classes to GCSE level. I have overseen and been personally responsible for the department's increase in GCSE results from 30% when I became Head of Department to 70% last year and a prediction of 84% this year. I have excellent examination results with the classes I personally teach and have moved students from grade E to grade C and B and students from a D to an A grade. I have also been a mentor working closely with a student on an individual basis in order for him to achieve his potential. I also teach GCSE Spanish after school to students and to parents and again achieved 75% A*-C last year and am looking at achieving 100% this year. Teaching is my number 1 focus and when I am at work I am 100% focussed on the students in front of me and ensuring they achieve excellent results. I have experience of all 3 exam boards for GCSE- AQA, OCR and Edexcel and have thorough knowledge of both SHP and Modern world specifications offered by the boards covering topics from Medicine, American West, Weimar and Nazi Germany, the Cold War, America in the 1920s and 1930s, Vietnam War and Britain in the 20th Century. For A-level, I am again knowledgable of all 3 boards, and have thorough knowledge of both content and exam technique for the Cold War, Russia, Weimar/Nazi/Germany post 1945, US Civil Rights, the Crusades, the French Revolution and Britain in the 20th Century.

Tutoring Approach:

I have been a private tutor for 3 years and have taught 6 students A-level History and continue to teach one of them into A2, I have also taught 4 students GCSE History and I have also taught and continue to teach GCSE Spanish and GCSE French and 1 student GCSE English. I also teach English up to GCSE standard and teach English as a Foreign Language and am currently tutoring a Polish and Chinese adult learners. I tutor adults also for any subject I offer and at the moment, I'm currently teaching English and Spanish to adult learners. I also tutor primary school children for English and Maths up to 11years old and then for both French, Spanish and German. I aim to make tutoring enjoyable, helpful and rewarding whether that be in terms of examination success or simply learning new things. For tutees who are requiring tuition in preparation for an examination, I will teach the knowledge and content required as well as covering the exam technique and skills needed. I will differentiate my teaching also to allow for all tutees to succeed whether they are looking to achieve an A* or a C grade and aim to tailor my way of teaching/tutoring to what works best for the tutee.

Personal Description:
After obtaining my Master degree in St. Petersburg Academy (Russia, 2000) Ph.D. in fine art through Sorbonne (Paris, 2008), I moved to the UK and have been teaching part time with the Russian Art School in Oxford and Russian School in London. I specialise in Russian language, graphic design and textile art.

Teaching Experience:

I have tutored private students and taught classes of adolescent and pre-adolescent children through the Russian School in London as described above. Previously I have also taught Fine art in the St Petersburg Art School in Russia.

Tutoring Approach:

My approach to tutoring is holistic - I believe art is an expression of personal experience, and as such teaching technique is a means to an end rather than an end in itself. As an expression of a person's experience of life, art is also about beauty, and sharing the way that is perceived.

Personal Description:
I discovered my passion for teaching in 2006 during my experience as a teacher of Communication in the Mesoamericana University of Guatemala. During the yers in Guatemala I also taught Italian for adults for the local Italian Institue of Culture.
I left the country for safety reasons and wanted to continue the experience in Europe too.
I also wanted to learn English, that is why I have been living in London in the last 4 years.
I got a certificate as an Italian teacher for adults and I started to experience the pleasure of teaching both Italian and Spanish mainly as a private tutor for both online and face to face tuition. I also had a brief experience in a Londoner secondary school. I now tutor a few students and love this job, but I need to increase my teaching hours in order to get better money.
I feel as passionate about languages as about education and helping students to increase their interest in both a different language and culture is for me one of the most rewarding experiences of this profession.

Jan 09-Present - Tutor of Italian and Spanish
Freelance
task based lessons for both face-to-face and online students
producing resources
application of original cultural elements such as songs and movies

Mesoamericana University of Quetzaltenango, Guatemala
design of course contents
delivery of lectures and laboratory sessions

involvement of students in extracurricular activities (cinema and television)

Jul 05-Jul 06 - Tutor of Italian language for Guatemalan professionals (part time)
Italian Institute of Culture, Quetzaltenango, Guatemala
listening comprehension exercises
application of cultural elements such as Italian songs and literature
emphasis on pronunciation

Tutoring Approach:

I am a patient tutor.
One of my strengths is to adapt my tuition style according to my pupils and I believe that the best way to engage students is through active involvement. My diverse background helps me to be innovative and creative in my classes where I incorporate the skills gained in other areas of my career, such as communication theory, theatre, cinema and radio.

Personal Description:
My name is Annie and I am a nineteen year old student. I study French and Italian at University College London and am entering my second year. I have just received a high 2:1 in my end of year exams.

Teaching Experience:

As a language student I've done a lot of volunteering, mainly helping out in the younger years' language lessons at school doing oral and grammar work, but sometimes helping out my parents' friends' children in their preparation for GCSEs.

Tutoring Approach:

I'm very enthusiastic about foreign languages and have knowledge of French, Italian and some German. I strongly believe that the world is only as big as the languages you speak! I'm very flexible with when and where lessons take place, though weekday evenings and weekends work best for me. I live in a maisonette in Camden with a light and spacious dining area where it will be possible to have lessons.
I'm prepared to tutor from complete beginner with no previous knowledge up to GCSE level. If you are a student at primary or secondary school, I'm happy to do lessons that help with your school work or target any specific weaknesses you feel you have. Alternatively, I'm also happy to decide what we cover myself. I'll teach oral/conversational classes, vocabulary and grammar.

Personal Description:
I am a Spanish native speaker from the south of Spain and have been living in the UK for eight years now. I studied for a degree in Translation and Interpretation and for a couple of postgraduate masters, one relating to education.
I have always been interested in learning languages and the culture of the countries where they are spoken. Therefore you will have the chance to learn about Spanish daily habits, gastronomy, hobbies and important events that happen around the year.
It is key for me to know why you want to learn the language and which Spanish speaking country you are visiting, as the contents and language of the lessons will be oriented to these requirements. Your learning style and preferences are important to me as well. Some learners prefer to base their lessons around conversations only and others are happy to have a few grammar based lessons, then conversation, then enjoying reading a book passage or a poem. My extensive library of resources will always have something that interests you.

Teaching Experience:

Over 8 years teaching experience in the UK. This includes over 4 year secondary school work (first as a language assistant, then as a qualified MFL teacher).
Set up as self-employed in 2011 as a freelance adult educator and translator in the Spanish and French language. During this time I have delivered adult education for local education authorities as well as private courses, primary school clubs and one-to-one tuition. As part of my Professional Development Plan I completed a Teacher Training Course at the Instituto Cervantes in Leeds, a key reference institution for Spanish teachers around the world.
Testimonials of happy customers are available upon request.

Tutoring Approach:

Fun but professional!
Learning programme is tailored to your needs and additional materials for independent learning can be provided after lessons. Doing a bit of work at home helps making progress.
You can use to either follow a text book or allow me to cherry pick materials designed to help you achieve your course aims.
Flexible lesson times, you can have your lessons at a different time or day as we all have work and family commitments happening throughout the year. Just let me know well in advance please.
(Note: since you'll be charged a fee to obtain my tutoring details, the first lesson will be half price).

Personal Description:
I am a voracious reader, and was therefore tempted to choose English as my main subject in university, but eventually decided on French. I studied at Stanford University for four years, including one year through its study abroad programme in Paris. I have also worked many years as a professional musician, touring in the UK, Europe, USA and Mexico.

Teaching Experience:

I taught English to high school students for one year in France.
In a night school in Utah (USA) I taught English as a second language to adults.
I have taught music (guitar, ukulele and piano) for nearly 10 years.

Tutoring Approach:

I believe in student-centred teaching, so rather than impose strict rules I approach each student as an individual in order to find the best approach for gaining skills and confidence in the subject. Structure is also important, however, and it's important to use exercises and repetition to really come to terms with a subject. Games and songs have their place, too; let's have fun while we're learning!
