Personal Description:
Experienced trilingual tutor with excellent proficiency (oral/ written) in French and German.

I am an experienced tutor in teaching French (up to GCSE and IGCSE, AS/A'Level/International Baccaleureate and beyond). I also teach German and Italian up to GCSE/IGCSE level.

I also teach conversation and practical French for adults looking to use the language for holidays/buying properties in France etc or just for general use

Have valid CRB disclosure

Teaching Experience:

I have been teaching for the last 7 years at all levels and have consistantly produced good results in my students at AS/A' Level/IB as well as GCSE/IGCSE.

I am fully conversant with all Exam Boards and GCSE/IGCSE/AS/A'LEVEL/IB ETC syllabuses

I have also taught French to adults at all levels for example who have just wanted to be able to converse comfortably while on holiday, also to those who want to learn from scratch as well as those who are already at a reasonable level and want to improve their oral and writing skills for business or pleasure

Tutoring Approach:

My approach is firstly to assess closely where the gaps in my pupil's knowledge are and then build on closing them through grammar and vocabulary. I therefore give my students the building blocks to construct their own sentences in writing and speech.

I will work with them sometimes using their own text books but also I provide my own material to make the lessons more interesting. I will use games/quizzes as well as focussing on past papers and oral exams to help them gain confidence in the language.

I engage well with all my pupils and they always enjoy their lessons with me so that their time with me does not feel like just another extension of school

My conversation lessons with adults are always fast-paced and fun and my pupils widen their vocabulary and gain confidence in the new language very quickly

Personal Description:
Hello!
I am 25 years old, and lived in France for two years (teaching English) after graduating with my French degree. I've also taught English in Austria and am now about to begin my PGCE course.
I adore languages and travelling and really enjoy sharing this passion through teaching! I am happy to give lessons for exam preparation/ extra curricular support/ beginner's classes in French, English and English as a Foreign Language. Don't hesitate to get in touch :)

Teaching Experience:

I've just started my PGCE in MFL at Durham University and am looking forward to becoming a secondary school teacher. I've been tutoring for a couple of years now, both in France and England and thoroughly enjoy it.
Recently I have been teaching English as a Foreign Language in various Austrian schools to children aged 11-14. It was a fantastic experience! Before this I worked for a summer school where I taught English to Italian students (preparing them for the Trinity exam).
For the last two years I worked as a 'lectrice' teaching English as a foreign language to classes of university students in France (Poitiers and Lyon). I also gave private tuition at the same time, this includes working with children from 5 years old to teenagers and adults.
On my Erasmus year, I was an au pair for two children (5 and 8), I also babysat for 3 bilingual children (French and English) and organised an 'English club' for 5-8 year olds so I have lots of experience working with children and helping them learn a second language.
I've also done quite a lot of work experience as a classroom assistant at various local schools.
References are available on request :)

Tutoring Approach:

Knowing myself what it is like to learn a language and having been greatly inspired by teachers with a good sense of humour, I too am always positive, patient and creative when teaching. I care very much about the progress of my students and like to find out about their interests in order to tailor enjoyable lessons that encourage their enthusiasm for English and allow them to benefit as much as possible from the classes.

Personal Description:
I am 36 years old and a mum of two children (4 and 2). I have started giving tuitions when I first arrived in Bristol in 2001 and have not stopped since. I enjoy teaching and take a lot of pride when my students become fluent in French. I enjoy reading, going to the cinema, and anything connected to the French culture (films, books, music, food, fashion etc...).

Teaching Experience:

I have worked as a French assistant for L'ecole Francaise in 2001 and have worked with children, I am also working since 2005 for Cactus Languages and I am actually teaching adults as a self-employed teacher.

Tutoring Approach:

Originally from Paris, I specialise in teaching for the real world of today - fun, informal, slightly irreverent - but practical and above all useful! For your French to be used, you need to become comfortable speaking it, and so to help you develop that confidence I keep lessons flexible and enjoyable. Practicing everyday use in real conversational settings, I'll help you to challenge yourself and achieve your goals. You may not even notice that you're actually "working"!
Whatever your level is, I can help with your French for:
*Work and business Property abroad
*Holidays - good for Morocco & Tunisia etc ...
*Exams • Translation / Interpreting / Proofreading
Or just learning for fun!
So why put it off any longer?

Personal Description:
I am a 41 yr old graduate of Oxford University, where I studied French and German, and a postgraduate of the University of Manchester, where I obtained a Masters and Doctorate in English. I'm currently an Associate Tutor at the Universities of Salford and Edge Hill. I live in West Yorkshire, but can also cover South Lancs and Manchester.

Teaching Experience:

I'm really enjoying teaching some individual pupils at GCSE and A-level at the moment and now have the time to take on some more.

I have been teaching English in Higher Education since 2004. During this time I also taught an A-level student English on an individual basis, as extra preparation for Oxbridge entry - the student gained a place at Oxford. I've also taught two summer schools for visiting American students at the University of Manchester, and a first year university student privately last year.

I have experience with AQA syllabuses in French GCSE and English (Literature) GCSE and A-level (Gothic and Pastoral), and also OCR French.

I also worked for some years in the retail/hospitality sector, where I was an induction trainer, and had some involvement with NVQ assessment.

Tutoring Approach:

I believe the most important thing in teaching is to create a relaxed and friendly atmosphere, where students are not afraid to ask any questions. I like to avoid overt formality, and make the teaching as enjoyable as possible. I'm very encouraging and positive, but within this will always offer constructive criticism when it's needed. I make sure sessions end with clear goals about what students need to do to improve - clear and achieveable goals, that I will check your progress with. I enjoy teaching a great deal, and will push you to achieve your very best.

For under 16s, I have a programme for teaching English, French, and German. This includes conversation, grammar, composition, and working with literature suited to the pupil's age range. It's flexible and pitched to any age and ability between 11 and 16.

Personal Description:
I have recently completed my Physics BSc at Imperial College London and am now taking a year out tutoring and applying to graduate entry to Medicine courses. I have always enjoyed any opportunity to teach friends, family and younger students a variety of subjects since school. I am very empathetic, patient, encouraging and conscientious.

I am bilingual in French and English, and tutor secondary school Physics, Maths and Chemistry to A Level and French and Biology to GCSE.

Teaching Experience:

I have tutored the sciences and French for secondary school students since October, including two weeks of intensive Chemistry GCSE and French GCSE tuition over the half term holidays, and weekly Mathematics GCSE, Physics and Further Mathematics A Level tuition.

My Physics degree has given me experience in presenting difficult topics in an accessible way, as well as explaining subjects to other students on a one-to-one basis. My thorough grasp of the sciences, combined with my experience tutoring friends and family in a variety of subjects since school, allows me to explain even complex ideas in a logical, clear and simple way.

Throughout my final two years at university, I volunteered as an Academic Buddy at Imperial College London. This involved mentoring Freshers and helping with any questions or worries they may have, for example about university life or the academic side of their course. Since October 2011, I have mentored children with special needs on Sundays with the charity KEEN London, helping them with their activities.

These experiences, combined with my empathetic, encouraging and patient nature, enable me to communicate with and relate to children and young people of all ages and abilities and adapt my approach based on their individual requirements.

Tutoring Approach:

I will start off making sure the tutee is confident with the basic principles of the subject, and move on in a logical and progressive order, guided by the syllabus.

Personal Description:
I am 23 years old, and a graduate of French and Management from Leeds University. I am currently living in Oxford. I have a passion for the French language and culture and would love to share and help pass this on to other young people alongside my work.
(I am the brunette in the picture)

Teaching Experience:

I have spent a year working in France as a teaching assistant with the British Council, where I taught English to students aged 15-22. This was a fantastic opportunity for me to gain experience working in a different culture, and to hone my presentation and organisational skills in a new and challenging environment.

Tutoring Approach:

I like to make learning fun, and to motivate students. I do this by setting interesting and diverse themes. I then divide individual classes into several activities to help keep students engaged. I regularly employ vocabulary games and set challenges, which are surprisingly effective way for students to learn and retain new words whilst making the lessons more enjoyable for the students!

Personal Description:
I have just finished my first degree in French and German at Oxford University and am now returning home to Belfast where I will start an MA in medieval and and early-modern history. I have always had a great passion for language and have found this of invaluable help in my studies of history, for which I hold an equally lively interest.

Teaching Experience:

During the last two years of secondary school I gave frequent tuition sessions in French and German to younger students.

At Oxford I have had two years' experience with Jacari, a charity that teaches English to local children who have a different mother tongue. I have also given additional tuition to students of GCSE history in a local school.

I spent my year abroad teaching English to pupils aged 10 to 19 at a German grammar school.

Tutoring Approach:

My time at the German school in particular has taught me the importance of varying my teaching approach according to the needs and interests of the pupil. Obviously I keep a keen eye on the intended curriculum or goals at all times, but I am used and open to changing from more formal to more informal (i.e. games-based) tutoring methods as appropriate.

My technique consists in minimising English as much as possible.
This is the way I was taught Japanese. I have very comprehensive textbooks and activity books which enable that method.

The most important ingredient of the lessons is that they are fun and designed to equip the students with resourceful knowledge. My method is as follows:

-Assess the students' abilities and interests and tailor lessons to meet their needs
-Use flash cards, interactive games, songs (for children) , TV show extracts ( for listening practice)
-Lesson time involves 30% use of material suited to the lesson purpose, 40% oral practice (depending on the student`s needs) and 30% used to cover other areas such as grammar and homework correction.
-Lessons are interactive and include role playing where students engage in building sentences using the newly taught vocabulary and grammar items.
