Personal Description:
I have a degree in Modern Languages and Literature with QTS and a post-degree Diploma in Teaching Foreign languages and a Masters in Sciences of Education - Educacional ICT.

Teaching Experience:

I have 14 years experience of teaching MFL at high school level and also to adults.
I teach Spanish, Portuguese, French and Latin. I taught at the University of California Santa Barbara as a Lecturer before I moved to UK, where my husband is from. I also worked for the Extremadura Government in Spain as a teacher and as a translator. I am now teaching in London, Spanish, French and Portuguese syllabuses and I have been involved in intensive exam preparation for students of GCSE and A levels. I also revise plans and advise PGCE students in Spanish and Portuguese.

Tutoring Approach:

I like to think of myself as a highly motivated and dedicated teacher of MFL that fosters high student self-expectation. This can be done by building commitment to quality education and developing strong bonds with students, parents and Faculty. For example, I believe in employing a variety of classroom techniques to raise achievement: I have recently developed a bank of resources for Spanish and French teaching to accommodate different learning styles. Aside from good teaching, assessing students' progress is important. For example target setting and monitoring is an important method in ensuring that students reach their potential. Finally, create motivating learning environments that capture the imagination of the students, using for example students performance charts with points to show each student's progress in each field and this can be used to monitor a student's acquisition of the target language.

Personal Description:
I have recently moved to Eastbourne following six years in West Yorkshire where I worked as a a self-employed independent education consultant, and also as a School Improvement Partner and Link Officer for Calderdale MBC. I have over thirty years teaching experience in primary, junior and middle schools.I have always loved teaching children and feel that I can help them develop self-esteem and confidence.

Teaching Experience:

I have a wide background experience in teaching and education, having taught in five different schools in five different English education authorities, before becoming a School Link Officer / School Improvement Partner. I have held posts in large and small schools, with management experience in each, and I have taught children in all age-groups of primary, junior and 8-12 middle schools. I have, at one time or another, held particular responsibility for Curriculum Development, Maths, English, Science, Technology, ICT, PE, Art, French and Special Needs. I was Deputy Headteacher at two widely differing schools before becoming Headteacher of a small primary school. I maintained a teaching commitment of two to three days per week throughout my time as Headteacher of the school.

Tutoring Approach:

I base my approach to tutoring on an understanding of the individual needs of each student. I firmly believe that all children are capable of success. It is the tutor's role to find the most effective way of teaching for each individual child and to have an understanding of each child's preferred learning style. I always begin with an initial diagnosis based on discussion with the parents and an analysis of the student's current ability. Further sessions will concentrate on developing the skills of the student in line with a planned programme of work and targets, which has been agreed with the parents and student. I have a relaxed and friendly style with students but also have high expectations of their progress.

Personal Description:
I currently work part-time for an MP in Westminster as a researcher. I have varied interests, and later in my career intend to work in international development, especially surrounding the role of education.

My last degree, and MSc in Contemporary India, was a multidisciplinary social sciences degree, incorporating politics, economics, anthropology, international relations and statistics. My dissertation focused on English Language education and social aspiration.

In my spare time I enjoy training for athletics (middle distance and cross country), playing and listening to music, and cycling.

Teaching Experience:

I have taught English as a foreign language in India to degree-level students, formulating my own teaching materials. As part of my teaching, I included cultural and geographic content to help prepare students in rural and small town India for employment with multi-national companies.

I have also volunteered as a mentor with the Cardinal Hume Centre in Westminster, coaching young homeless and unemployed people with their English and ICT skills, job searching, and providing motivation.

Tutoring Approach:

I am new to tutoring, though throughout my school and university life, have helped relatives and peers with their studies. At Cambridge, I formed study groups with students in the same course and taught and conveyed parts of the course other had missed, or struggled with.

As I intend to qualify as a full time teacher in the near future, I undertand the importance of preparation. When tutoring, I plan to listen to each student's needs and prepare appropriate assistance and guidance.

Having completed much revision for my degrees and A-levels, I can share my strategies to revise work previously covered, using time management and goals. If a student is able to guide their own learning, I will support and encourage this approach, aiding their independence.

Personal Description:
I am French, having grown up and attended school and University in Paris. In 2008 I moved to England to work at the University of Nottingham as a lectrice; I then obtained the PGCE and have been teaching French, Spanish and History in a local secondary school for 3 years until I decided to start studying again. I also obtained the CAPES to teach English as a foreign language in 2011. I am currently studying for a PhD in modern history at the University of Nottingham, but am keen to keep teaching during my research. I am married to an English man, and enjoy reading, music and films as well as sharing the wonders of French cuisine with my husband!

Teaching Experience:

I have taught French and Spanish up to A-Level for the past 3 years at Toot Hill School, and have also taught French at the University of Nottingham for a year, concentrating on speaking skills.
I have also tutored students for A-Level in history, as well as teaching the Ancient History GCSE course at Toot Hill School for two years.
I have a wealth of experience working with children, teenagers and adults alike (my husband is English and I am doing my best to drum French into him!), I have tutored privately in France for three years before moving to England, teaching English as a foreign language and have also worked as a translator.

Tutoring Approach:

I adopt a friendly, enjoyable approach to teaching, with the belief that promoting a love for learning is the key to the success of my students. Whenever possible, I use examples from the culture (songs, films, cartoons) and history of the countries where the language is spoken to give more relevance to the learning process.
I feel that my wide-ranging academic interests encourage students to locate particular subjects within a wider context, which I find often fosters a renewed enthusiasm for the subject itself.
Regarding teaching languages, I believe in providing a strong and clear grammatical background, but i also encourage students to be more confident and spontaneous in their use of the language, be it orally or in the written form, a system which I found worked very well with my pupils while I was teaching full time.

Personal Description:
I am a native French speaker, born and educated in Paris, but I have been living in England for over 30 years and married an Englishman. I graduated from the Sorbonne University with a view to teaching English there but when I came to England as a French assistante I fell in love with the country and with one of the natives and I soon qualified as a French teacher. I have been working in that capacity until the beginning of this Autumn term when I retired from full-time teaching. So I am very experienced. and I consider myself an extremely dedicated teacher, eager to see the students progress and enjoy learning about French culture at the same time as they improve their command of the language. I believe that the most efficient way of learning other than total immersion is the one to one approach which has often allowed me to enable the students willing to invest the extra time to progress exponentially, get motivated and achieve their potential.

Teaching Experience:

I have taught French and English to adults (managerial staff and trainees) in the private sector, in small groups and individually.
Subsequently, I have taught French from KS3 to KS5, full-time on permanent contracts for nearly 30 years in total. At the same time I have tutored my own son to passing his French G.C.S.E. with the top mark in the country, and his French A Level with flying colours. As a result he is now reading French at Oxford University and he continues to call on my expertise whenever needed. A few years ago, one of my A Level students whom I tutored privately obtained the top marks in the country in every module of the Edexcel exam. I am extremely experienced in coaching students to success in their G.C.S.E. and A Level French exams and the overwhelming majority of my students systematically achieved their potential or better. For over 10 years I took on virtually all the A Level French teaching at my last school and have always acted as teacher-examiner for both G.C.S.E. and A Level..

Tutoring Approach:

First, I assess what each student is aiming to gain from the private tuition, whether it be coaching for written and/or oral examinations, building confidence in communicating within a given context, improving pronunciation, mastering the finer points of grammar, studying French literature etc. I also quickly evaluate the level and ability of individual student through gentle probing and questioning. I go on to prepare an appropriate programme of study and gather material such as PowerPoint presentations, tailor made practice exercises, Past Papers, relevant websites, use visual and aural aids to add interest. I set homework and can give feedback on line between lessons to maximise efficiency of personal contact time. Basically it all depends on what the student wishes to achieve.Because I know the subject so well I can be extremely flexible and can instantly fine tune my approach according to the need of my student at any given moment. Thanks to my long experience I have become extremely responsive to the all-important feedback

Personal Description:
I am a friendly and approachable 25 year old Veterinary Surgeon, currently living in Liverpool and undertaking further training in order to become a European Specialist in Veterinary Dentistry. I also have a Masters Degree in Physiology from Cambridge University. I am passionate about Maths and the Sciences, and feel very fortunate to have a job where I use them on a daily basis. I love teaching students, particularly when I can aid understanding and recall by putting the information in their course into a real life context. Outside of work I am a keen footballer and Liverpool fan, and also enjoy playing rugby and cricket and reading French Literature.

Teaching Experience:

I have 3 of years teaching experience at Cambridge University, where I taught one to one/small group tutorials and practical classes, and also marked and assisted students with course work and dissertations. I also have experience working with younger people through coaching cricket, conducting mock interviews for Vet School and assisting with extra Maths teaching for primary school children.

Tutoring Approach:

I feel that the main benefit of private tuition is that it can be tailored to an individual. I therefore take a flexible, pupil-centric approach to tutoring, ensuring I cover any areas in which the student feels they would like more help. I am also happy to provide an overview of the course, focussing on core topics and those which frequently come up in exams if required. I like to work systematically and ensure that the student is completely happy with a topic before moving on to the next - some of the concepts we have to cover can be very tricky and I try to make it clear to my students that if there's anything at all that they're not sure about, I'll be happy to go through it for as long as we need to before they understand the subject.

Personal Description:
I am a second year undergraduate at the University of Kent, studying BA Italian and French. In my first year I averaged at a 2.i. I work very hard at Uni and did so at school and Sixth Form too. I am very organised, punctual and professional and take great pride in my work.

Teaching Experience:

At sixth form I helped several friends with their GCSE Italian work (they all achieved at least an A grade) and helped my younger sister with both her GCSE French work and her GCSE History coursework, for which she achieved and A* grade.

Tutoring Approach:

My approach to tutoring is simple: start with the very basics and build on these once they are secure. I will help with homework and coursework as well as practice for exams. I am also happy to provide materials such as grammar exercises and mark these.

Personal Description:
Qualified teacher of Modern Foreign Languages, specialising in German. I work in a secondary school in Beckenham, teaching German (to A2 level) and French (at Key Stage 3). I achieved a grade 1 ('outstanding') during my teacher training in 2013, which reflects my excellent subject knowledge and practice as a teacher of languages. Working as a teacher means that I am fully aware of the current exam requirements (both GCSE and A level) that the students have to meet, thus enabling me to teach accordingly.

Having studied French and German at school and at university, I have experienced and understand the demands and challenges of learning a foreign language, which in turn helps me teach the languages in an accessible and effective way. My experiences of living in Paris for 6 months and Berlin for 9 months further consolidated my knowledge of the languages. It is my aim to pass this knowledge on to my students. I believe that my excellent subject knowledge, passion for languages and teaching, understanding of the exam requirements, and my friendly and approachable manner make me an ideal tutor.

Teaching Experience:

I am currently in my first year of qualified teaching (qualified July 2013). I teach German at Key Stage 3, GCSE and A Level (AS and A2) at a school in Beckenham. During my training year I taught at a school in Chislehurst and at a school in Orpington. As well as teaching classes of approximately 30 pupils, I also have experience working with much smaller groups, and individual pupils, working on particular issues of grammar or focusing on particular language skills (such as writing and speaking).

Tutoring Approach:

My approach to tutoring is similar to my approach to teaching in school, in that I am enthusiastic about the languages that I teach, I use engaging activities to help the students learn, and I have a very friendly and approachable manner. Moreover, I can explain grammatical concepts clearly and concisely, and can effectively teach the fundamental skills needed for the communication and comprehension of languages (speaking, writing, listening and reading).

Please note:
Rates shown are for if tutees travel to me. If travel to the tutee is required then a supplementary charge will apply per session to cover petrol costs and time. The cost of this will depend on where I need to travel to.

Personal Description:
I am a free lance tutor.

I specialise in modern languages (French, Spanish and English as a foreign language), which I teach online to all age groups.

The modern languages tuition is for business, pleasure, and exam purposes.

I also have tutoring sessions in my house in Harpenden, Hertfordshire, for those who live in the area.

I focus on Maths and English after school hours, from 4pm to 7pm., with French and Spanish as required.
On Saturdays, I tutor from 8am to 1pm.

I specialise in boosting grades at both GCSE and A level Spanish and French.

I also teach English as a foreign language. I have experience of teaching the IELTS exam. Accommodation can be provided for students who would like to experience the "immersion" approach to language learning.

Teaching Experience:

I have taught English as a foreign language in France and in the UK.
I have been a classroom teacher of French and Spanish for over twenty years. I have taught across the age and ability range all the way up to "A" level. I was Head of Modern Foreign Languages in one state secondary school for 5 years as well as being Head of Spanish in another.
I ran, in the 1990's, the French language franchise "Le Club Francais" for primary school French.
I have been the owner of a well known tutoring Franchise, which I successfully ran for 4 years. Maths and English was the primary focus.
I am qualified as a one on one maths tutor in secondary state schools. I have been seen by an OFSTED inspector in this role. The school's maths department was deemed to be "outstanding" in the subsequent report.

Tutoring Approach:

My approach to tutoring is that it should be fun, rigorous and focussed. Fun - yes. I like to think that I have got a good sense of humour and learning is best done in a relaxed yet purposeful atmosphere. Rigorous - yes. I know what needs to be done and I ensure that we cover the ground necessary, Focussed - yes. Whilst one on one tutoring can be a little intense at times, I maintain a focussed environment so that the tutee is fully engaged in a way appropriate to his or her particular skill sets and learning styles. What I particularly relish, whilst tutoring, are those "aha" moments...when the penny really does drop. I use a variety of tutoring techniques, including the modern technologies. To conclude - building a "rapport" is an essential part of good tutoring. This, I like to think, is my forte.

Personal Description:
I am a native speaker of both Spanish and English (raised and educated in Spain by English parents and educated to university level in the UK) with experience tutoring. I am culturally as well as linguistically fluent in both English and Spanish, as well as well-read in both. I have studied French to university level and Art to A-level, already having a preexisting understanding of art due to both my parents being professional artists and amateur art historians themselves. Being a tutor in languages and literature, I am very skilled with language and linguistics and am able to teach a variety of writing styles.
I have tutored a variety of students across my subjects, from preschool children needing an introduction to Spanish to adult learners seeking to improve their English, to students who wanted to better their written communication.

Teaching Experience:

I have accumulated 3 years of private tutoring so far, I have worked as part of a Cardiff-based tutoring company and I have worked on a part-time basis with several companies (including a law firm) translating documents and letters.

Tutoring Approach:

I offer a variety of courses at different levels and for a range of skills.

For languages:
-A basic lesson-plan for young children (2-5), where they learn through games and immersion.
-A more structured plan for children of primary-school age, where they learn grammar and structure in a traditional approach, still kept fun.
-A support course for students studying Spanish for GCSE or A-level. This is appropriate for both students who need to catch-up and students who have the potential to progress faster.
-A brief support course for students approaching their exams, to ensure they are confident in the subject. I am very familiar with these exams as I have taken them myself (obviously achieving A*s).
-A beginners' course for all ages.
-An intermediate course for all ages.
-An advanced course for all ages.
-A fast-track course in Spanish for travelers and tourists.
-And a conversational course for those seeking to improve their pronunciation, fluency and ease of speech.

For literacy/writing skills:
-A beginners' course for all ages.
-An intermediate course for all ages.
-An advanced course for all ages.
-A business course.
-A students' course.
-A creative writing course.

For art:
-A skills-based course for beginners.
-An intermediate skills-based course.

I privilege the communicative approach as after all languages are made to communicate. The goal lead the students to the answer by asking fitting questions rather then just giving him the answer. The approach depends on the different students needs and style of learning. I use to adopt my lessons plans to their own need . Speaking and practicing is the best way to learn a language.

My availability:
20th December until 19th January

I studied maths, further maths, computing and economics at A-level and AS level and have a keen interest in economics and maths.

Teaching Experience:

This consisted of me helping the AS maths students who were having difficulties with their homework and exam questions etc. I have previously tutored young students for maths and english, who have improved their performance over time.

Tutoring Approach:

In general students come up to me with a list of questions that they might be struggling with and we'd work through them together providing a step to step method as to how to approach and solve the problems. In addition if a student is completely stuck on a topic then I am also willing to explain it from the basics and build on their understanding. :)

I am a friendly, approachable and reliable law student. I achieved straight As throughout high school and have a wide - ranging knowledge base. I also have my Bronze, Silver and Gold Duke of Edinburgh Awards and now volunteer with my local dofe group so that I can give as many young people the opportunities that I gained through completing dofe. I volunteered in one of my local primary schools for one afternoon each week, where I taught French to the Primary 6 and 7 classes. I have taught dance to children aged 3-12 for the past 6 years and now work with the local youth theatre where I choreograph and help direct their shows.

Tutoring Approach:

I am very patient and find it easy to tune in to the student's needs. I can tell when a technique is not working for a student and can easily adapt to ensure that the student is learning in the way best suited to them.
