Personal Description:
I am a young actor living in London. I also write and direct poetry, plays and films. As my father was a Diplomat I spent much of my early life abroad: in Cuba, Hungary and the United States.

After studying Maths, English and Russian at Eton College I spent a year studying acting in New York and cooking in an English restaurant, then studied English and Drama at Bristol and have just finished a BA in Acting at LAMDA. When I'm not writing or in the theatre I'm in the kitchen experimenting.

Teaching Experience:

I have tutored several students over the past two years in London. I have helped with English A-Level papers for a boy who got an A grade and will start at Bristol this autumn. I also taught essay-writing and exam technique to a girl who will be starting medicine at Cambridge this autumn.

I also have a lot of experience with learning difficulties as I have helped my younger brother all his studying life through his asperger's and dyslexia.

Tutoring Approach:

My inspiration to work in the arts always came from the books, films, artists and languages I studied at school and at university so I have a great amount of passion and interest in what I teach.

I believe this is very much the most important lesson for any new student to learn: a personal enjoyment and motivation for the subject. Exams are everywhere these days but it is important to remember that an exam is only a method for determining how much you know and if you can find yourself genuinely excited and eager to discuss what you know you are half-way to passing that exam.

Personal Description:
I am a French lady in my late fifties. I have been living in England since I moved there with my husband and daughter in 1992. I graduated from University of Tours (France) in History and History of Art, and then moved to Paris where I worked for the Ministry of Culture for 12 years. I have a strong interest in written language, grammar, culture and history, both in French and in English.

Teaching Experience:

In France I worked for three years as a History teacher (for 18 to 22 year-old) in a private school in Tours.
In England, from 1994 to 2007, I worked as a French tutor at the Hermitage Junior School in St Johns, Woking, teaching French at primary school level as a preparation for secondary school.
I tutored many students for GCSE and A-Level along the years, some of them went on to study French at University.
I tutored uni-students as well, including Oxbridge's.
I hold French conversation groups for adults at home, and beginner course for adults as well.

Tutoring Approach:

I particularly enjoy one to one tutoring as it allows me to adapt to the precise needs of the student. Having learn English as a French speaker, I have a good insight of the difficulties in both these languages: so similar and yet so different. I particularly enjoy helping students for their exams. Catching up on grammar is often more than necessary but being good at language is really a matter of self confidence. It is why I strongly recommend to start French lessons more than 3 months ahead of the exam when possible.

Personal Description:
Hi there, I'm Bruno. I'm bilingual in Italian and English and I'm currently studying BA Modern Languages (French, Spanish, Portuguese). I have always gained the highest grades in languages, and endeavour to help your child achieve the same results. Another of my greatest passions is playing piano, having passed my Grade 8 exam in 2008.

Teaching Experience:

Aside from tutoring, I currently teach piano to children at a local youth centre, which I have found has helped my teaching methods considerably. Not only am I naturally enthusiastic when it comes to working with kids; I am also young, patient and experienced.

Tutoring Approach:

I like to take an informal approach to tutoring. I have learned that children learn quickest when they are relaxed and having fun. I will provide learning material and set homework on a regular basis to further challenge and stretch my pupils.

Personal Description:
I am a qualified primary school teacher and have coninued my professional development through regular courses over the years. I can help with any subject on primary level, including languages such as German, French, Spanish and English. I am a warm, caring and patient person with a back-ground in complementary therapies having addressed sensitive issues such as weight management and addiction. This job equipped me with excellent communication and personal skills.

SUMMER HOLIDAYS OFFER:

Qualified Teacher, Experienced Tutor and Registered Childminder offers One-to-One Tuition for children aged 5-11 at a reduced rate during the summer holidays. A block booking of six sessions to be carried out during the summer holidays is available at a reduced rate of £100 for six sessions (discount of 35%, which works out to about £16 a session as opposed to the usual £25 per hour). Bookings and payments need to be made by 21 June in order to ensure availability. The earlier you book the more likely you will be able to book sessions on days and at times that suit your own timetable best. Sessions take place at my house in Chessington and if 1-hour drop-offs are inconvenient there is the opportunity to drop off your child 1-2 hours extra at the cost of an additional £5 per hour during which time educational play activities will be carried out. Lots of resources (as well as a play-mate aged 7) are available. Please visit my website for information regarding myself and my work.

Teaching Experience:

I have gained experience in whole-class teaching (reception to year 6), group teaching and one-to-one tuition during the last six years. Alongside my private tuition I am currently working as supply teacher across the age phases.

I have worked successfully with children of varying ages and from different back-grounds including children with special educational needs.

Tutoring Approach:

I am offering a high-quality tuition service for any subject for children in primary education (4 to 11). Hours can be very flexible to suit families' needs.

The approach that I favour is to firstly look at what the student can do as opposed to cannot and use this as a base to form understanding for the new. Lots of encouragement and positive reinforcement is used and the child receives training in meta-cognition (understanding how learning works and enabling the student to develop learning strategies that can be applied universally). Activities are carefully planned to address the learner's individual learning styles whether it be visual, auditory or kinaesthetic.

Where appropriate and feasible content is presented in the context of games games in order to engage children deeply into learning. Personal targets are set for each child and regularly reviewed. Parents are kept informed on their child's progress and advice is given on how they can support their child's learning.

One-to-one tuition is available as well as group tuition with a maximum of four children per group.

Group tuition offers benefits that cannot be achieved during one-to-one tuition:
more opportunities for games-based learning
focused development of social skills and team work
peer tutoring and peer assessment

Please note that for group tuition parents need to apply as a group (4 children) to qualify for group rates. Children don't have to necessarily be in the same year group as experience has shown that basic numeracy and literacy skills are in need for extra support across the year groups. However, it is recommended the age gap is not too wide as teaching styles vary for different age groups.

Language Tuition is available for the following languages: German (native speaker), French, Spanish, English
Languages are taught in the context of fun games.
Language Tuition is also open to adults and focuses heavily on learner's individual needs (e.g. business use, leisure, talking, writing etc.)

I also have experience in providing extra support to children who are being home-schooled by their parents.

Personal Description:
Hi, I'm Emma

Thanks for reading my profile and I would love to have the opportunity to help you improve your French.

I am a very motivated and organised person who has spent a lot of time in France and consequently I have a good level of French pronunciation. I enjoy teaching on an individual basis as well as to groups of children or adults who all share the same goal to learn or improve French!!

I am a 41 year old mum of two boys (6 & 12yrs) and I am able to empathise with different approaches t o learning as required to suit the student. Sometimes, a more light-hearted approach may be needed to re-ignite the interest in learning a language and my experience in teaching children of various abilities at KS2 level enables me to do this with ease.

Teaching Experience:

For the last 7 years, I have been teaching French at several different primary schools (KS2) in Chester during curriculum time.

I have also been running my own successful lunchtime and after-school clubs as I am the Chester Licensee for Le Club Francais and El Club Espanol. These clubs cater for children 3-11years old.

At GCSE level, I have successfully raised the grades of many students and have a good knowledge of the AQA examination syllabus. I can offer assistance in the written assignments and can offer invaluable assistance in the preparation for oral examinations. I have a good understanding of French grammar which is an area I find many students struggle to understand.

At an adult level, I have taught complete beginners through to business people who need/want to learn or improve their French to assist with moving abroad. I find teaching adults to be especially enjoyable due to the enthusiasm shown which leads to fast results.

Tutoring Approach:

At our first meeting, I will assess your level and find out which areas in the French language (written, spoken, listening, reading) you find particularly challenging or especially want to improve in. I will also discuss with you ways that you particularly like to learn and the timescale you envisage our sessions to run for.

I am open and flexible in my approach and will make the sessions enjoyable for you. I will tailor my lessons each week according to your needs and prepare additional (home)work if requested to ensure continuity in our learning.

I hope I have shared with you enough information about my wide experience in teaching French at all levels to encourage you to contact me. I am passionate about learning French and would really like to share it with you too!

Personal Description:
I have been a teacher all my professional life, although for ten years I worked in the theatre as an actor, fight director and singer. I love teaching and I love music. Most importantly, perhaps, I have never stopped learning!

Teaching Experience:

I have been teaching English, French and German for 25 years. I studied English at Oxford; worked in Germany, studied in Spain and have my main home in France. My first GCSE Spanish class all achieved A* and A grades. I recently trained in Teaching English as a Foreign Language, so I feel up to date with current teaching methodology. Nevertheless, I adapt my teaching style and methods to benefit my tutees. I teach adult evening classes and give private tuition in French, Spanish, German and English Literacy.

Tutoring Approach:

I will come to your home and talk to you about what your learning requirements are and will tutor in order for you to maximise your potential in line with your requirements. All tutees have different learning styles and preferences, too, so I will pick up on yours and shape our lessons accordingly. We will work proactively, and there will be specific goals and targets for each lesson so that you will be able to chart your progress. My colleagues think I have a great sense of humour, and I have sometimes found it to be helpful in a teaching situation. I am, however, totally professional in the conduct of my lessons and tutorials.

I am a friendly and approachable 25 year old Veterinary Surgeon, currently living in Liverpool and undertaking further training in order to become a European Specialist in Veterinary Dentistry. I also have a Masters Degree in Physiology from Cambridge University. I am passionate about Maths and the Sciences, and feel very fortunate to have a job where I use them on a daily basis. I love teaching students, particularly when I can aid understanding and recall by putting the information in their course into a real life context. Outside of work I am a keen footballer and Liverpool fan, and also enjoy playing rugby and cricket and reading French Literature.

Teaching Experience:

I have 3 of years teaching experience at Cambridge University, where I taught one to one/small group tutorials and practical classes, and also marked and assisted students with course work and dissertations. I also have experience working with younger people through coaching cricket, conducting mock interviews for Vet School and assisting with extra Maths teaching for primary school children.

Tutoring Approach:

I feel that the main benefit of private tuition is that it can be tailored to an individual. I therefore take a flexible, pupil-centric approach to tutoring, ensuring I cover any areas in which the student feels they would like more help. I am also happy to provide an overview of the course, focussing on core topics and those which frequently come up in exams if required. I like to work systematically and ensure that the student is completely happy with a topic before moving on to the next - some of the concepts we have to cover can be very tricky and I try to make it clear to my students that if there's anything at all that they're not sure about, I'll be happy to go through it for as long as we need to before they understand the subject.

Personal Description:
Hi. I graduated from the University of Surrey in 2007 with a degree in Law and German, after which I moved to mainland Europe, teaching English as a Foreign Language, German, French and Italian at both primary and secondary school level and also to adult/university learners.

I returned to the UK in 2011 to embark on my Postgraduate Certificate in Education in Modern Foreign Languages, specializing in German, French and Italian.

Teaching Experience:

I have experience of teaching in UK secondary schools and I have a thorough understanding of the requirements of the National Curriculum for Modern Foreign Languages at Key Stage 3 and 4. I am also familiar with the various A-Level specifications from different exam boards.

Furthermore, during my time on the continent, I taught English as a Foreign Language for 3 years and I have extensive knowledge and experience of all the Cambridge exams including the Young Learner, FCE, CAE, CPE and IELTS.

In addition to teaching English as a Foreign Language, I taught German and Italian and therefore I am accustomed to teaching the German International (Zertifikat Deutsch) exams and also the Italian International (CELI and CILS) exams.

I have taught at various English summer camps and therefore, I am experienced in making substantial progress in a short period of time, especially with regard to speaking and listening skills.

Tutoring Approach:

I find it is important to consider the way in which each students learns, allowing me to tailor resources and activities, so that the students progress as quickly and painlessly as possible. I enjoy using activities that get students involved in using the language as much as possible, including (as and when appropriate) games, role plays, songs, practical activities etc.

Personal Description:
I am an energetic, bubbly and friendly person who is passionate about languages. In my spare time I enjoy going to the theatre and visiting exhibitions. I also swim regularly and play badminton. Having spent most of my life living and studying abroad I love to travel and am fascinated by different languages and cultures.

I am a very family orientated person and always make time for my little niece and regularly babysit for friends and neighbours.

Teaching Experience:

While doing my A-Levels in the UK I assisted the German teacher with the GCSE classes at my school and also gave private tuition to some of the students.

I have spent 6 months in Honduras teaching English as a Foreign Language to children from the ages of 5-15 and worked as an English teacher in the public and private sector in France teaching pupils aged 10 to adult.

Recently I have helped GCSE students with the preparation for their oral exams.

Tutoring Approach:

I have a fun approach to teaching and feel that variety is important. When learning a language all aspects need to be worked on i.e. reading, writing, listening and speaking through different exercises. I am friendly and always like to have a thorough talk with a pupil before starting any lessons to understand what their weaknesses and strengths are and what they may/ may not enjoy.

Personal Description:
Hi!

I am a PhD student living in London, but based at the University of Warwick. I was lucky enough to be awarded a prestigious Wolfson Postgraduate Scholarship for my thesis. I graduated from the University of Warwick with that year`s highest First Class degree in French and Italian Studies (2012). I recently received a Distinction in my Master`s degree in French Studies (2013). I hope to go on to lecture full-time.

In my spare time I act and direct theatre.

Teaching Experience:

I am currently on my University`s training programme in order to teach undergraduate classes next academic year, both grammar and literature. I will be leading undergraduate seminars this academic year.

In 2011 I spent 2 months teaching English to Italian children aged 7-13 in Italy. The same year I spent 5 months teaching English to French university students.

Tutoring Approach:

I am very friendly and outgoing, and endeavour to be laid back whilst taking my work very seriously and encouraging students to work hard and learn to the best of their ability.

Classes will be well-structured, with clearly defined goals and learning outcomes, both long- and short-term. Exercises will be provided to help with grammar, translation and essay-writing skills. With regards to literature, students will be encouraged to think independently and encouraged to debate and disagree with my views. However, structure, writing style, grammar and content will be consistently challenged.

Personal Description:
I studied Modern Languages (French and German) at Magdalen College, Oxford and went on to train as an actor at Central School of Speech and Drama. I can offer classes in beginners conversation for French and German as well as coaching for GCSE and A-level. In addition, I can help students create revision timetables to improve study skills and can offer drama tuition for drama school applicants or to improve confidence and general presentation skills.

Teaching Experience:

I have been a private tutor for French, German and English with Home Tutors for the past 7 years and have had an excellent success rate with students achieving their desired grades at GCSE and A-level. I also co-wrote and ran the German Through Music and Drama course at Watford Grammar School for Year 10 Gifted and Talented students.

Tutoring Approach:

I try to make lessons as fun and interactive as possible and am reliable, punctual and well-organised. In the first lesson, I ask the tutees and parents exactly what they are hoping to gain from private tuition so that we can work together towards achieving those goals. It's also useful to get hold of a copy of the syllabus and/or class textbooks that the tutee is working from in school so that we can remain on target, tackle homework together and also add supplementary activities that reinforce their course work.
