Personal Description:
I have a degree in Modern Languages and Literature with QTS and a post-degree Diploma in Teaching Foreign languages and a Masters in Sciences of Education - Educacional ICT.

Teaching Experience:

I have 14 years experience of teaching MFL at high school level and also to adults.
I teach Spanish, Portuguese, French and Latin. I taught at the University of California Santa Barbara as a Lecturer before I moved to UK, where my husband is from. I also worked for the Extremadura Government in Spain as a teacher and as a translator. I am now teaching in London, Spanish, French and Portuguese syllabuses and I have been involved in intensive exam preparation for students of GCSE and A levels. I also revise plans and advise PGCE students in Spanish and Portuguese.

Tutoring Approach:

I like to think of myself as a highly motivated and dedicated teacher of MFL that fosters high student self-expectation. This can be done by building commitment to quality education and developing strong bonds with students, parents and Faculty. For example, I believe in employing a variety of classroom techniques to raise achievement: I have recently developed a bank of resources for Spanish and French teaching to accommodate different learning styles. Aside from good teaching, assessing students' progress is important. For example target setting and monitoring is an important method in ensuring that students reach their potential. Finally, create motivating learning environments that capture the imagination of the students, using for example students performance charts with points to show each student's progress in each field and this can be used to monitor a student's acquisition of the target language.

Personal Description:
I am a friendly and approachable student of Oxford University. I am in my fourth year, studying a masters degree in Chemistry and achieved a distinction in my prelims.
I went to City Of London School For Girls and I studied Further Maths, Physics, Chemistry and Maths at A level and also French AS (sadly I had to stop studying languages but keep up my French and Spanish by visiting my exchanges every summer). I do however take a French course as part of my degree which I chose to do. At Oxford I have won a scholarship and also been awarded two exhibitions. At school I won the Phipps Chemistry Prize and The School Accademic Prize.

Teaching Experience:

Whilst at City of London School For Girls I was recommended to mentor girls at lunch times and found the experience rewarding and felt the girls got something out of it.
I tutored a student in year 11 in Maths and Biology in 2hr sessions during the school holidays and in the lead up to her exams, which was very effective.
I have also just finished tutoring: - a student in French in year 11 once a week, having tutored them for two years in which time we were really able to build a relationship and we made great progress in many areas.
-a student in Chemistry and Physics AS and have been asked to come back and help them with A level Chemistry and Physics.
-a student in Chemistry and Maths AS and have been asked to come back and help them again next year where by we meet up each school holiday and recap everything studied that term. This is with the aim that when the exams are approaching we can just do revision and not try and manically learn new concepts. Personally I think this will work very well as throughout the year we will be consolidating what they have learnt and so will give them good grounding during the accademic year.
- a student in Maths, studying the core modules, statistics and mechanics.

Tutoring Approach:

For sciences I feel trying to understand the theory can be quite difficult and daunting so tackling questions is a great way to approach learning new concepts as you can immediately see what you do and do not know. I also believe that the benefit of having someone to talk to and to be able to discuss the theory with them is vital. I also provide plenty of exam style questions which is key for exam technique. For languages practicing talking to someone is a great way to gain confidence and also I can help with techniques such as grammar plus vocabulary.
Having recently gone through the exam process and achieve the highest grades I am able to pass on my tips and techniques and know the exam syllabus well. I also know what universities are looking for so can help out with UCAS forms and interview practice.

Personal Description:
I just graduated from my masters degree in Financial Computing at UCL (overall distinction) and also did my bachelor degree in Mathematics (Upper Second Class) at UCL.

Having spent my childhood in Luxembourg, I am fluent in 4 languages (German, French, English and Luxembourgish) and semi-fluent in Swedish.

I also teach the piano, as I have played the piano since the age of 3. I have won several international piano competitions (e.g. 1st Prize in the International Chopin Piano Competition in Taiwan).

I currently have several projects in which I am the lead website programmer and designer and am more than happy to pass on my knowledge, acquired through countless hours of programming, research and online tutorials. (Programming languages include PHP, HTML, AJAX, jQuery, JavaScript, SQL)

Teaching Experience:

For the past 3 years, I have continuously had 4 or more students in Mathematics, German and Music. All my students have managed to reach their goals, be it personal achievements or needing to be prepared for exams. My most promising student started out with an average of F in German and, a year later, successfully completed his German GCSE with an A*.

Tutoring Approach:

All of my students enjoy my teaching style as it is less formal and thus more relaxed. It has made all of my students motivated as, from my overall experience, the last thing a kid or teenager wants to do outside of school is a lesson that reminds them of school.

Personal Description:
Hello!
I am 25 years old, and lived in France for two years (teaching English) after graduating with my French degree. I've also taught English in Austria and am now about to begin my PGCE course.
I adore languages and travelling and really enjoy sharing this passion through teaching! I am happy to give lessons for exam preparation/ extra curricular support/ beginner's classes in French, English and English as a Foreign Language. Don't hesitate to get in touch :)

Teaching Experience:

I've just started my PGCE in MFL at Durham University and am looking forward to becoming a secondary school teacher. I've been tutoring for a couple of years now, both in France and England and thoroughly enjoy it.
Recently I have been teaching English as a Foreign Language in various Austrian schools to children aged 11-14. It was a fantastic experience! Before this I worked for a summer school where I taught English to Italian students (preparing them for the Trinity exam).
For the last two years I worked as a 'lectrice' teaching English as a foreign language to classes of university students in France (Poitiers and Lyon). I also gave private tuition at the same time, this includes working with children from 5 years old to teenagers and adults.
On my Erasmus year, I was an au pair for two children (5 and 8), I also babysat for 3 bilingual children (French and English) and organised an 'English club' for 5-8 year olds so I have lots of experience working with children and helping them learn a second language.
I've also done quite a lot of work experience as a classroom assistant at various local schools.
References are available on request :)

Tutoring Approach:

Knowing myself what it is like to learn a language and having been greatly inspired by teachers with a good sense of humour, I too am always positive, patient and creative when teaching. I care very much about the progress of my students and like to find out about their interests in order to tailor enjoyable lessons that encourage their enthusiasm for English and allow them to benefit as much as possible from the classes.

Personal Description:
Hello,

I am a French native living in the UK for two years while I have been improving my English a lot which is very helpful for me to explain French language to complete beginners. I am enjoying my new life in London.

I am educated to a Masters Degree in Business Law in France and I've discovered here in the UK an interest in teaching while taking a temporary French teaching job opportunity which finally became permanent.

I started teaching French as a private Tutor in Essex and I really enjoyed it so I would like to carry on in this direction.

My students usually describe me as friendly, knowledgeable, helpful, patient and dedicated (the school regularly collect students' opinions through anonymous surveys).

Teaching Experience:

I have been a private tutor in France in various subjects like Maths, English, Spanish, and help to general homework.
In the UK, I have been a private tutor in French for over a year. I first had a couple of students who were two brothers aged 12 and 13 years.
Since January 2013 I have had quite a number of private students through Tutor UK and most of them are still currently learning French with me.
I have been teaching French for a private Languages School for almost a year now and have gained an amazing experience in teaching. I am really enjoying sharing my knowledge and see my students improving, asking useful questions, and having fun after all, speaking a new language as if they had always known it.

Tutoring Approach:

My approach to Tutoring is very adapted to each student as this is the main point of a private tuition.
After assessing my student's level and setting their goals whether they would like to improve certain skills (eg. accentuating speaking, or listening, or grammar..) or to learn from the beginning.

I provide grammar rules and methods, using a lot of examples and vocabulary. I give my students exercises to practise and make sure they understand the grammar part which is important for understanding the language and how to use it. I try to vary exercises between pronunciation, sentences construction, reading and writing for beginners and improvers, including more conversations for improvers and advanced students.

I believe there is no secret, to learn or improve a language, practising is the key.

NB : Prices advertised on the subjects section correspond to £15/1hour/1person, couple or small group tuition available at very competitive price. Please note that £5 extra per session may be charged upon mutual agreement if travel costs me more than £5/return OR lasts more than 1hour/1way.

Personal Description:
I am a French national who has been living in the UK for over a year and tutoring for much of that time. I graduated in Business Communications from the University of Nancy last year. I have just spent 5 months working in New Zealand and travelling in Japan, and have returned to the UK to continue tutoring French. My French nationality means I have a first hand insight into French cultural issues and an inbuilt knowledge of French idioms and regional language variations.

Teaching Experience:

During my 6 months living in St Albans, I had the opportunity to tutor for a variety of levels: primary school, GCSE, casual learner and advanced debate language for a French teacher, working with material suitable for A-level students. This has given me experience of the UK educational system at a variety of levels and the ability to adapt to different students' needs.

Tutoring Approach:

Tutoring means ''learning with pleasure'' for me. That means that my aims are to make the student enjoy the lesson without having to just ''learn by heart''. I had to tutor some students just after their school day so I wanted it to be positively different.

For casual learners I take a flexible approach with the first focus on confidence in speaking, but if the student has specific exam needs I can tailor the lesson towards his/her goal, with more structured grammar lessons if necessary (after years of grammar lessons during my French schooling!). I never forget that I am a the ''French speaking guide'' and the student is the pilot.

I am a native speaker of both Spanish and English (raised and educated in Spain by English parents and educated to university level in the UK) with experience tutoring. I am culturally as well as linguistically fluent in both English and Spanish, as well as well-read in both. Being a tutor in languages and literature, I am very skilled with language and linguistics and am able to teach a variety of writing styles.

-A support course for students studying Spanish for GCSE or A-level. This is appropriate for both students who need to catch-up and students who have the potential to progress faster.
-A brief support course for students approaching their exams, to ensure they are confident in the subject. I am very familiar with these exams as I have taken them myself (obviously achieving A*s).
-A beginners' course for all ages.
-An intermediate course for all ages.
-An advanced course for all ages.

Personal Description:
I am French-Swiss and I am fluent in both French and English. I have recently moved to Nottingham after 6 years in Manchester.

Teaching Experience:

Although I do not have any formal French teaching experience, my French is of an exceptional level as I am a native speaker with the equivalent of French A levels obtained in a French speaking country. I would have no difficulties tutoring students in French.

Tutoring Approach:

I believe there is no substitute for learning a language from a native speaker; tutees would be immersed in a French speaking environment from the minute they walk through the door.

I will tailor each lesson to the tutee individual needs with a high emphasis on their weakest areas.

If approaching exam period, I would generally go over many past papers in order to fully train tutee to get the best grade possible.

Personal Description:
I am just graduating from my degree of drama at the University of Manchester. I am looking to work as a tutor whilst concentrating on my passion of writing. I feel that I have a great deal to offer. I offer intensive GCSE, A-Level and University tutoring in the run up to major exams and essays. These include full day sessions. I offer tutoring in a range of subjects - from Drama to Maths, and can work to suit your needs.
All prices are negotiable depending on location and level!

Teaching Experience:

I have experience preparing students for entrance exams at the top schools in the Greater Manchester area. I have done this over a number of years and adapted to changing expectations.
Further to this, I have introduced young children to new languages - French, Portuguese and Spanish. I have also helped adult learners to take the languages up in their spare time.

Tutoring Approach:

My approach is simple...it depends on the student! Everybody requires a unique approach in order to maximise their potential. The key, of course, is that the work is enjoyable - then the student can prosper.
I am very flexible with hours, can offer intensive sessions and will be available for an extended period of time. Just ask!

Personal Description:
Hello and thank you for visiting my profile!
I work as an Associate Director in a market research company. As part of my job I am fortunate to be able to communicate with clients from different parts of Europe in their own language. I find people fascinating and love working and socialising with them.
I have been living in London for nearly 10 years. I previously studied and lived in Milan, Italy where I obtained a university degree in International Economics and Management. I also lived in French-speaking Lausanne, Switzerland where I did some of my studies.
I get on well with people of all ages, including children, and various cultural backgrounds. My goal in tutoring is not only to teach but also to help tutees grasp and practice the material in the easiest way so they can improve their knowledge of the language without feeling it as a burden.

Teaching Experience:

I have previously taught English as a foreign language, Italian and French to children aged 9-13, teenagers and adults. In the past my tutees have markedly improved their knowledge and have managed to fill the gaps they had. In my experience it usually takes a tutee 1-3 months to notice a difference and 3-6 months to feel more confident with the language, though of course this depends from person to person.

Tutoring Approach:

The first and most important thing for me is to find out where specifically the tutee has difficulties or gaps with the subject. I take into consideration how a student normally studies and what approach works best for them. Sometimes tutees have difficulty applying their usual studying method to certain subjects, so finding the right approach comes first.
I am a strong believer in using a calm but firm approach in tutoring as it is the most likely to yield positive results. I expect a tutee to be committed to the subject they aim to improve on and use the sessions to understand better and/or enhance their knowledge of the subject.

Personal Description:
As a teacher, you pass on not only the knowledge, but you own values of being a good person and your vision of the world. Every teacher could be different according to their age, gender, nationality or even silhouette, all I can say about how to develop a good teacher and student relationship is being true to yourself and to your students, show your true colour while putting yourself in pupil's position. And more importantly, never regard teaching as a career only helps you to make a living, but a passion and appreciation that only being a teacher or parent could provide you this opportunity to look at the sparkling eyes of your pupils reflecting their enthusiasm in getting to know this real world. Also, tutoring your children is not only spending time with your children, I request 1/5 of my teaching time to be with their parents.

Teaching Experience:

Parkson Group. (Dalian, China)
New Oriental School. (Shenyang, China)
Wordsworth Education. (Yantai, Weihai, China)
Gracemount High School. (Edinburgh, Scotland)

Tutoring Approach:

I am currently living 5 minutes away from the Scottish Parliament; I went to audit Education Committee whenever I got a chance. The CfE is under great criticism here like everything newly developed, but I fell in love with its purpose that encapsulated with the four capabilities that an educated human being should possess: a successful learner, a confident individual, a responsible citizen and an effective contributor. These are the concepts I cherish, and students love me because I am a people person and being genuine to each of them all the time.

Academically, please refer to 'about yourself' section, I provide the most efficient teaching approach, with the least time spent but the best outcomes. Learning a language should not be dull and time-consuming.

I am a very patient tutor who values getting the 'basics right' before building on that knowledge. I am very flexible and adaptable depending on the pupil's aptitude and interest in the subject. I tend to use visual aids for Maths and Physics tutoring with very positive results.
