Personal Description:
Please contact me for prices. If you want longer lessons, let me know, and I will do you a very good deal.

PGCE - University of Newcastle Upon Tyne 1998 (Secondary Teaching Qualification)
I am a fully qualified teacher of Languages and English as a foreign language, with 13 years' experience of teaching all levels.

My work as an assistant examiner for a major exam board, has given me an excellent insight into what is required by the exam in order to gain a good pass.
I love languages, teaching, music and travel.

Teaching Experience:

CURRENTLY TEACHING AS and A2 level GERMAN ONLINE. PLEASE CONTACT ME FOR AVAILABLE SPACES. DAYTIME AND EVENING LESSONS. From 10 per hour for revision classes

I have taught and supported students at all levels and for different purpose: GCSE, A Level, Holiday French and German, Primary French and German.

I have been an assistant examiner for a major exam board for A level French speaking, listening, reading and writing for the past 8 years, so can help to support students for exams and help them to become very familiar with the techniques and knowledge required to gain a good pass.

I have a 100% success rate with students. Last year, all 3 GCSE students gained A* and A (French and German) and my 3 A Level students gained A (French), and 2 C's (from a grade E/U in German)

I have taught online for Learndirect/myself, am computer literate, and have had success with students learning long distance via Skype.

Tutoring Approach:

I have a fun and enthusiastic approach to teaching and I am able to guarantee success at all levels. I have lots of success with all levels, and have been successful due to a variety of techniques, knowledge of exam papers/common difficulties when learning a language and teaching experience.
I am able to get the best out of students, by identifying their learning needs and styles.

Adult learners: I have a very successful and unique approach, which allows adults to understand how a language is constructed and which allows them to grasp the basics of a language and then 'play' with the language by adding new vocabulary and phrases. You will feel confident wiih the pronunciation of the language from the beginning, which is essential to make progress quickly and effectively.

What my previous students have said:

E - July 2012 - Intermediate Adult: I needed a quick few lessons to help me pass a resit at University, I realised this was a pressure on Sarah to help me pass but I had learnt more with Sarah in a total of 6 hours than I had in a whole year. I would highly recommend Sarah to anybody, Thank you Sarah for your help, you helped me pass with flying colours! E.

R - May 2012 - GCSE last minute help online - My daughter says " Sarah is really friendly and helpful and she gave me lots of techniques I can use to revise". Sarah has been brilliant at giving a late boost just before the exams, which was exactly what we wanted. We found her incredibly helpful and responsive and are sure she has been a major part of boosting my daughter's confidence - her grades as reported by school have gone up two levels in the last two months and Sarah has been a definite part of this

S - July 2011-May 2012 - Adult Casual - After having lessons for a few months now I can say that Sarah is a very effective teacher and has the ability to explain things in a simple and easy to understand way. I feel I have made significant progress in my learning and would not hesitate to recommend Sarah to anybody wishing to learn french.

Personal Description:
Having completed my undergraduate degree in Philosophy, Politics and Economics at Oxford University, followed by a Masters degree in Politics with distinction, I am now a speechwriter and chief of staff to a member of the House of Lords who is the former CEO of a FTSE100 company. I am very keen to share my enthusiasm for my subject areas with students. Whilst at university I was involved in a wide variety of activities, including editing a magazine, conducting an orchestra and captaining a squash team, so I understand the pressures students face to balance academic studies with extra-curricular activities. By providing effective, valuable tutoring, I hope I can ease these pressures.

Teaching Experience:

With five years' experience of the Oxford tutorial system (including a period conducting admission interviews for undergraduates), and two years' experience writing high profile speeches and newspaper articles, I can provide challenging, engaging and friendly tutoring at a variety of levels, including to those preparing for applications to Oxford or Cambridge. I offer a particular focus on rigour and precision when it comes to students expressing themselves; in my experience, this can make all the difference when it comes to an academic or entrance exam. The broad nature of my degree means I can offer tutoring in Economics, Politics, Maths (including statistics), German and French, all of which I studied at A Level or university myself. As a post-graduate student of politics, I can also offer particular expertise here.

Tutoring Approach:

I have a real passion for my subject areas, and I believe that an enthusiastic tutor is the first step in enabling a student to achieve their full potential, whatever level they may be studying at. For exciting, dynamic tutoring from someone with extensive experience of one of the most admired teaching systems in the world, please get in touch!

Personal Description:
I am a professional, friendly and enthusiastic qualified teacher. I teach part time and deliver private tuition as it balances well with my family commitments. As a child I struggled with some basic skills at school and needed extra tuition myself, so I can appreciate how my students feel in this pressurised age of results and targets.

Teaching Experience:

I have been teaching for 11 years. I started teaching English as a Foreign Language in Prague, Tokyo and finally Paris and fter three years, I returned to the UK to take a PGCE (Post Graduate Certificate in Education) in Modern Foreign Languages. I taught French and German to GCSE level for four years before deciding to become a supply teacher and personal tutor. I spent 2010/2011 teaching Year 6 French and English, preparing the for their literacy SATs. This Year however I taught a full Year of Year 6 and guided the class through the new SPAG (Spelling and Grammar) test as well as their reading exam and assessed writing.

In French at Key Stages 3 and 4, I prepared students for their GCSE reading, writing, speaking and listening assessments. I marked their final written papers and conducted their oral exams.

Tutoring Approach:

My approach to each student is wholly dependent on their age and level. If a child needs tuition, they are likely
to be falling behind at school, suffering from low self-esteem and maybe embarrassed by needing help. My approach is always a sensitive one and my focus is to build a strong and trusting relationship. Many children struggle at school because of a single misunderstanding and once this 'blockage' is cleared, they gain confidence and flourish. Other children may be behind because of changing schools or missing school due to illness, which requires a more practical pro-active approach.

Personal Description:
I am an experienced industrial chemist, having postdoctoral experience with Avecia and GSK. I then retrained as a teacher and have taught at all levels from school to University. My experience covers A-levels and Advanced Higher. I have six years teaching experience, which includes 3 years at FE colleges, 1 year at University and 2 years at secondary school. As a home tutor and online tutor I have two years experience. Some of my students needed A's to enter Medicine or veterinary medicine. With my help they pulled their grades up to get this. Other students just wanted to pass and sometimes they surprised themselves by getting B's. I have taught dyslexic students as they were struggling with traditional teaching at school or college. My visual and imaginative teaching style has helped many of these students. In fact this approach helps all my students. Based in France I am limited to online tutoring.

Teaching Experience:

I have experience of teaching in schools, colleges and University. My experience covers A-Levels, HND, HNC and University. I also specialize in private tuition which I enjoy very much. Many tutors are students or graduates who do not have teacher training. I am a professional educator who provides quality tutoring at very reasonable rates.

Tutoring Approach:

All my students get a tailored learning approach and regular feedback at the end of each tutoring session. Underpinning my tutoring is exam preparation. Students are coached to understand the marking process. During the tutorial session students work hard by solving problems and formulating their own conclusions. In fact I work on the principle "don't tell teach". In first tuition I will provide proof of qualifications. With advances in technology online tuition provides an excellent alternative to home tutoring. I can talk to students face to face via skype. We can also communicate via an online white board (its online so you have nothing to install on your computer). All you need is a computer, internet, skype and a micro. I will give a short free trial tutorial before paid tutorials. If you are not satisfied we part company no obligation.

TESTIMONIALS

"Over the past 3 years, I`ve had Italian lessons with a number of Italian teachers. Craig has by far been the most effective. He was quickly able to identify specific approaches to learning that would work for me and most importantly, keep me enthused! I am impressed by his preparation he doesn`t just bring the same text book to each lesson and set gap-filling exercises like previous teachers I`ve had - each lesson is carefully tailored to the subject in a way that makes the lesson interactive and memorable. Although I may know what the agenda for the lesson is, how he chooses to run the lesson is always a surprise. One subject leads on to the next as I progress but within each new topic, he skilfully and patiently recaps over previous topics to make sure I don`t forget what we`ve already touched on, which I really appreciate. Homework is set each week and because he makes it interesting, I look forward to the challenge of completing it. My ability to discuss, negotiate, tell stories fluently in Italian has really come on since working with Craig and my grasp of Italian grammar continues to improve thanks to his clear and concise explanations." Su, Walderslade

"Craig has been teaching me Spanish for nearly a year. One-on-one home tutoring enables me to fit lessons around my busy work and family life.
As a mature student I really appreciate Craig`s structured approach to language teaching tailored to my own specific learning pace" Neil, Lordswood

"I have been furthering my French with Craig for some time. He is very encouraging and likes to push you out of your comfort zone at times - which is a good thing as it gives confidence. Craig always makes learning fun and we can be discussing anything from the state of the country to man-eating spiders! He uses a variety of media and tailors lessons to your own requirements/needs or if there is something in particular you have a problem with he finds a way to explain it clearly." - Sharon, Chatham

"Craig is very professional, patient and understanding, I am an absolute beginner in French and after a couple of weeks of tutoring by Craig, I feel confident enough to ask in French some basic questions. Very big plus for me" Jacqueline, Walderslade

"Craig is friendly , helpful and moves you along at your pace" Martin & Lynda, Hempstead

Teaching Experience:

Experience teaching all ages, both in a school environment and one-to-one private tuition and with years of tutoring experience.

We can cater for beginner level right through to experienced speakers who want to brush up on their skills.

Tutoring Approach:

We teach using a variety of materials depending on level, such as class and activity books, grammar and vocabulary books, videos, Internet and printed exercises.
We do our best to tailor lessons to our student's needs. Most of our students are learning a language for a specific reason, such as for holidays or for exams. We design our lessons according to the reason and aim for learning.
We are happy to receive feedback from our students after each lesson and take into account any ideas for following lessons.

Personal Description:
Hello, I have a BSc MSc and PhD in organic chemistry and a PGCE (Physics). I have worked at the UEA doing research and I am now working at a leading secondary school in Norfolk as a Teacher of Physics.

Teaching undegraduates and postgraduates has been part of my routine during my time at the UEA. I have also worked as a secondary school teacher (abroad) for three years teaching science and chemistry up to A-Levels and therefore I have a good knowledge of the current syllabi used. I am passionate about teaching science to the young and have hence been involved in a lot of outreach activities (clarifying NMR, visible Spectroscopy, Mass Spectroscopy, ect) at the UEA. I am bilingual (French) and also like to teach this beautiful language to students.
I am also CRB checked (enhanced, April 2013)

Teaching Experience:

4 Years teaching experience in general science at GCSE / A Level
8 Years underraduate / postgraduate supervision at University level

Tutoring Approach:

One on one teaching is certainly different from classroom teaching and I like to use this opportunity to identify the strengths and weaknesses of a particular student. Each of my sessions are planned thoroughly with appropriate activities and teaching resources. Having sound basics for me is important for students to progress further and I therefore like to brush up on them from time to time depending on the needs of the particular student.

Personal Description:
I lived and worked in France from 1982 to 1985. I have always spent the summer holidays from the age of 12 living with a French family and feel equally at home in France or England. From school age I knew I wanted to travel and find new places learning the language as I went. I love to communicate and enjoy meeting people and getting to know them and want to pass on the enthusiasm I feel for all things French. I enjoy reading, music, films and French food isn't bad either.

Teaching Experience:

My initial teaching experience was with 'Le Club Francais' where I was in charge of a weekly after school club of 5 - 11 year olds. This was great fun as learning was channelled through games.
My friend's son had extra lessons after school to pass his oral French which he did with flying colours and commendation from his teacher.
A teacher from a nearby school wanted to move to France, so asked for help with pronunciation and grammar.
I have also translated a marketing leaflet for a company in Bradford and am the voice at the end of a help line for French speaking residents who wish to move house.

Tutoring Approach:

I believe that enjoyment is the motivation for learning. To make sure that a lesson is visually, orally and kinaesthetically appealing to students will ensure maximum attention span and maximise learning and long term memory retention. I have quite an approachable personality and am a good listener, which is important in establishing boundaries (for both learner and teacher) and to iron out any potential problems or misunderstandings that could arise. I have a very flexible approach to tutoring because every student has a unique way of learning and therefore am always open to suggestion to improve my knowledge.

I went to Queen's Gate School in South Kensington till I was 16, before moving to Hurtwood House in Surrey, where I completed A-Levels in Art, French and English Literature and an additional AS Level in Theatre Studies. Hurtwood was an incredible school in terms of encouraging my more creative side. However, during my time at UCL, i refound my passion for science (in particularly human biology) and actually ended up specialising my studies in anthropology in a medical/biologically orientated direction.

Personality-wise, I'm an outgoing, strong-willed and determined young girl who really loves being in a learning environment. I love intellectual debates and discussions and I welcome the chance to help others and maybe in the process learn a few things myself!

Teaching Experience:

Whilst at school I used to work with young french children. One of my old teachers asked me if I would like the job (they were her personal family friends) and so after school I would help them with their English, teaching them grammar and vocabulary, doing exercises with them but also trying to make it more fun by incorporating games. I'd also converse with them and if they didn't understand, help them translate it.

Tutoring Approach:

My approach to tutoring would be highly dependant on a multitude of factors such as age, gender, subject, level of interest and level of ability. These would have a substantial effect on my method of teaching.

Nevertheless, what applies to all ages is keeping what is being taught fresh and interesting, determining the best way that someone learns (i.e. whether by interaction, reading/writing or listening) and making use of this in the most time effective and engaging manner.

In turn, I also believe determination and patience to be vital in any approach to tutoring.

Personal Description:
I was born in France and lived there for 25 years before moving to England where I completed a postgraduate diploma and subsequently worked as a civil servant. This is also when I met my husband.

Following the birth of my children in 2001, 2003 and 2006, I left my demanding job and got involved at first in French groups for pre-school children before starting tutoring students for French GCSE.

As I am helping at my children's primary school, I hold a current CRB check.

Teaching Experience:

After teaching beginners French to young children for a few years, I now specialise in tutoring students at GCSE. I am fully conversant with the GCSE syllabus and it is currently, by choice, my sole area of tutoring.

Tutoring Approach:

I begin first by assessing the student's strengths and weaknesses. I have a flexible approach and will base the lessons/exercises around the current topics covered at school (i.e.: environment, education etc) using my own materials. I retain a strong focus on the different exams (oral, writing, listening) required throughout the year for French GCSE, and provide mock exam practice for my students.

Personal Description:
**Due to high demand and university commitments I can no longer accept students for tuition on a weekly basis. Do not hesitate to contact me regarding intensive courses during the main holiday periods**

I am currently at one of the UK's leading Universities for Modern Languages: the University of Southampton and studying French and Spanish (Linguistic Studies)

I am passionate about foreign language learning and am a strong believer that through hard work and determination a solid grasp of a language can be obtained without having to live in a place where it is spoken.

I am also available to tutor Mathematics up to GCSE level if required.

The introductory fee will be discounted from your tenth lesson.

Teaching Experience:

I tutored both 1-1 and in a class atmosphere during GCSE lessons of French and Spanish while studying towards my A-levels.

Tutoring Approach:

Teaching methods must be adjusted to each individual, depending on the student's interlanguage and the level that they wish to achieve in the target language.

This can also be achieved via activities that are relevant to the individual's interests in order to maintain motivation. For example, if the student is interested in football, we will work through an article together about their favourite football player. Other activities may include: short news clips, songs and conversation in target language.

I believe that knowledge of a language entails proficiency in both productive (oral, writing) and receptive (reading, listening) areas.

Of course when appropriate, current syllabi for GCSE and A-Level students will be followed.

Personal Description:
I want everyone to enjoy the ability to communicate with each other in English to make friends, do business together and to feel confident wherever English is spoken.
I have been made welcome by so many people from many nationalities all round the world and love the excitement of communicating with people from all walks of life.
I enjoy teaching face to face and online and to tailoring conversation and lessons to the ability and objectives of the student or students.
I am married with a family and am comfortable teaching all ages although I prefer teaching adults and young adults (16 upwards). I teach general English of course but specialize in teaching business English.

Teaching Experience:

I have taught in Europe and Asia. For the last six years I have been living in France teaching one to one and small groups. I returned to the United Kingdom in 2012 and live and teach in the Worthing and Brighton area.

Tutoring Approach:

Learning a language should be both fun and serious. If my students are preparing for examinations then a concentration on course work with homework will be important.
If students prefer to develop their social conversational ability then there may be less emphasis on grammar and more on the use of English in everyday social or business situations. Each potential student is asked to complete a simple questionaire to give me a picture of their ability level and what they want to achieve.
I teach one to one or small groups (normally no more than 8 students). Price reductions for two students or more
Most online teaching is on a one to one basis.

Personal Description:
I teach languages at Secondary level (11 - 18) and am also an exam marker for AQA. I am passionate about all things French and enjoy inspiring students to feel the same enthusiasm. Having lived and worked in France for several years, I know that there is nothing to compare with the satisfaction of being able to make yourself understood, and eventually to have conversations and build friendships, with people of different nationalities.
To learn a foreign language really is to see the world in a whole new light!

Teaching Experience:

As well as eight years' experience of teaching languages in Secondary schools, I have extensive experience of tutoring a range of ages individually. My students have a track record of success and many former pupils have gone on to study Languages at University, including at Oxbridge.
I am used to working with young people of all abilities and confidence levels and know that the best learning happens in a supportive environment.

Tutoring Approach:

Each student needs a unique approach and we can work together to agree where the focus needs to be: whether building confidence with speaking, working on accent and intonation, perfecting tenses and grammar, fine tuning Controlled Assessments or essays, developing strategies for successful listening and reading - or a combination of these.
