Personal Description:
I am a French native, qualified languages teacher working in a reputable private school in North London. I have a genuine enthusiasm for languages and for language education as I have had experience of teaching French in various contexts and countries.

Teaching Experience:

I have taught across Key Stages 3, 4, 5 within several secondary schools in London. I also had the opportunity to teach pupils with Special Educational Needs as well as gifted ones and I am therefore aware of their need for differentiation through support and extension activities provided when delivering lessons.
I am also teaching French to adults and I believe that helping them to learn my language is extremely rewarding, whether they are great beginners or fluent speakers. In fact, I have been living overseas for several years now and I think that I became a good ambassador of my country and culture.

Tutoring Approach:

I have specialised in one-to-one support and exam preparation (GCSE, Common Entrance, etc.) with tailored programmes to meet the individual needs as well as a creative teaching style. In my teaching, I always transfer to my students my own enthusiasm for languages and try to enhance their motivation and enjoyment of language learning. I set my students high standards for work and have received positive feedback from pupils and peers.

Personal Description:
Having completed my undergraduate degree in Philosophy, Politics and Economics at Oxford University, followed by a Masters degree in Politics with distinction, I am now a speechwriter and chief of staff to a member of the House of Lords who is the former CEO of a FTSE100 company. I am very keen to share my enthusiasm for my subject areas with students. Whilst at university I was involved in a wide variety of activities, including editing a magazine, conducting an orchestra and captaining a squash team, so I understand the pressures students face to balance academic studies with extra-curricular activities. By providing effective, valuable tutoring, I hope I can ease these pressures.

Teaching Experience:

With five years' experience of the Oxford tutorial system (including a period conducting admission interviews for undergraduates), and two years' experience writing high profile speeches and newspaper articles, I can provide challenging, engaging and friendly tutoring at a variety of levels, including to those preparing for applications to Oxford or Cambridge. I offer a particular focus on rigour and precision when it comes to students expressing themselves; in my experience, this can make all the difference when it comes to an academic or entrance exam. The broad nature of my degree means I can offer tutoring in Economics, Politics, Maths (including statistics), German and French, all of which I studied at A Level or university myself. As a post-graduate student of politics, I can also offer particular expertise here.

Tutoring Approach:

I have a real passion for my subject areas, and I believe that an enthusiastic tutor is the first step in enabling a student to achieve their full potential, whatever level they may be studying at. For exciting, dynamic tutoring from someone with extensive experience of one of the most admired teaching systems in the world, please get in touch!

Personal Description:
I am a qualified linguist, working as a translator, interpreter and personal tutor for languages - both Spanish and Portuguese, my second and third languages, and for English, my native language. Tutoring is a way in which I can use my passion for languages. Languages have always been important to me and this comes through in my tutoring. I have always loved to learn about other cultures, experience them, and passing on these experiences is also a source of great joy.

I have lived in Spain, Portugal and Brazil now and these were all times in my life that changed me. Every time I come back from having lived away there is something else that I bring away with me. I believe that my time abroad helps me to understand better the people, the culture and the language that I teach.

Teaching Experience:

I first started tutoring when I was 17 living in Spain au pairing for the summer, looking after a 5 year old girl. Then, when I completed my first degree in Birmingham 2009, I went to be an English language assistant in Extremadura for a year (2009-10). Here I taught at both a primary school and an adult language school, as well as private tuition classes to children of various ages. I really enjoyed my time there and since having returned to England I have taught Spanish, Portuguese and English on a private tuition basis. My students have included a girl who I taught a Portuguese GCSE in a year, gaining a B grade overall, with A grades in reading, speaking and writing. I was her sole tutor, classes at school were not available, so I was responsible for all her tuition, and taking her oral exam. I used to teach a South African couple who want to learn basic Spanish for when they are spending time at their holiday home in Majorca, and also a woman who wanted to learn Spanish to be able to speak to her boyfriend's family. As regards English, I taught Chinese girl who required English perfection classes and help with essay writing, as well as a singer who needed pronunciation refinement when performing songs in English. I also tutored a girl studying for her GCSE in 2012 who wanted extra help to get her that A, which she got.

Tutoring Approach:

I find that with tutoring you have to take differing approaches dependant on the students and their requirements. I try to tailor my classes to the needs, ability, and age of the students. I have a variety of teaching materials and develop new materials as needed. I try to make classes fun, whatever the purpose of the classes, and therefore try to make classes very interactive, either by encouraging debate or discussion, and also using visual aids, such as videos, music or newspapers, leaflets etc. from the appropriate country. I feel that with language learning the most important thing is to highlight the reality and the practical uses that languages have, and therefore I try to make the situations I use as real and useful as possible, and draw upon my own experience to bring them to life. I have extended experience of learning languages in a formal manner, which is great to apply when my students also learn in this way, but I also respect that some people do not, so I also make sure that my students have a say in how they learn best, and we try different techniques to ensure that classes run how they want them to run. Finally, I just want to say that learning languages is fun, and I believe that my enthusiasm is conveyed in what I do, which in turn means that my students are also enthusiastic and learn a lot with me.

Personal Description:
I was born into a French-speaking family and have spoken French my entire life. I have a BA from the London School of Economics in French and Linguistics. I have also lived in France for several years. I have taught French privately for over 20 years and many of my students achieve very high standards. I am very dedicated to my students and try and get the best out of them. One mother with five children of differing ages from 6 years old to 18, where the children were attending Harrodian in Barnes said that her children told her I "was the best French teacher they ever had" - that works for me!

Teaching Experience:

Teaching privately French for over 20 years from beginners to University students as well as adults has given me a great deal of experience across different goals and varying levels. I teach spoken French for those who only want to simply speak the language as well as grammar for those who need to take exams. I work with University students to achieve top grades in dissertations and essays or oral exams. One of my recent students was told by her lecturers she would get a 3rd in her degree ended up getting a 2:1 - not bad eh? I love French literature so if you are studying a piece of literature, I will be able to guide you through the book. I sing with some of my students as I find singing is a wonderful way of learning a language especially where vocabulary is limited. Other students need to listen to French radio in order to accustom the ear to current spoken language and we work together to understand what is being said.

Tutoring Approach:

I begin by assessing the pupils strengths and weaknesses and then plan lessons to suit the individuals needs. The most important aspect is for the pupil to enjoy the lesson so learning French is a pleasure and not a chore. I also spend time teaching exam techniques as these are as important as studying the language itself.

Personal Description:
I am an experienced industrial chemist, having postdoctoral experience with Avecia and GSK. I then retrained as a teacher and have taught at all levels from school to University. My experience covers A-levels and Advanced Higher. I have six years teaching experience, which includes 3 years at FE colleges, 1 year at University and 2 years at secondary school. As a home tutor and online tutor I have two years experience. Some of my students needed A's to enter Medicine or veterinary medicine. With my help they pulled their grades up to get this. Other students just wanted to pass and sometimes they surprised themselves by getting B's. I have taught dyslexic students as they were struggling with traditional teaching at school or college. My visual and imaginative teaching style has helped many of these students. In fact this approach helps all my students. Based in France I am limited to online tutoring.

Teaching Experience:

I have experience of teaching in schools, colleges and University. My experience covers A-Levels, HND, HNC and University. I also specialize in private tuition which I enjoy very much. Many tutors are students or graduates who do not have teacher training. I am a professional educator who provides quality tutoring at very reasonable rates.

Tutoring Approach:

All my students get a tailored learning approach and regular feedback at the end of each tutoring session. Underpinning my tutoring is exam preparation. Students are coached to understand the marking process. During the tutorial session students work hard by solving problems and formulating their own conclusions. In fact I work on the principle "don't tell teach". In first tuition I will provide proof of qualifications. With advances in technology online tuition provides an excellent alternative to home tutoring. I can talk to students face to face via skype. We can also communicate via an online white board (its online so you have nothing to install on your computer). All you need is a computer, internet, skype and a micro. I will give a short free trial tutorial before paid tutorials. If you are not satisfied we part company no obligation.

Personal Description:
Hello!
I am 25 years old, and lived in France for two years (teaching English) after graduating with my French degree. I've also taught English in Austria and am now about to begin my PGCE course.
I adore languages and travelling and really enjoy sharing this passion through teaching! I am happy to give lessons for exam preparation/ extra curricular support/ beginner's classes in French, English and English as a Foreign Language. Don't hesitate to get in touch :)

Teaching Experience:

I've just started my PGCE in MFL at Durham University and am looking forward to becoming a secondary school teacher. I've been tutoring for a couple of years now, both in France and England and thoroughly enjoy it.
Recently I have been teaching English as a Foreign Language in various Austrian schools to children aged 11-14. It was a fantastic experience! Before this I worked for a summer school where I taught English to Italian students (preparing them for the Trinity exam).
For the last two years I worked as a 'lectrice' teaching English as a foreign language to classes of university students in France (Poitiers and Lyon). I also gave private tuition at the same time, this includes working with children from 5 years old to teenagers and adults.
On my Erasmus year, I was an au pair for two children (5 and 8), I also babysat for 3 bilingual children (French and English) and organised an 'English club' for 5-8 year olds so I have lots of experience working with children and helping them learn a second language.
I've also done quite a lot of work experience as a classroom assistant at various local schools.
References are available on request :)

Tutoring Approach:

Knowing myself what it is like to learn a language and having been greatly inspired by teachers with a good sense of humour, I too am always positive, patient and creative when teaching. I care very much about the progress of my students and like to find out about their interests in order to tailor enjoyable lessons that encourage their enthusiasm for English and allow them to benefit as much as possible from the classes.

Personal Description:
I am a part-time student working towards a PhD in a subject encompassing English literature, philosophy and film studies. I am passionate about and engaged with these subjects in all their aspects and especially enthusiastic about using my knowledge of each and sharing and communicating ideas with people on all levels, within and outside an academic setting. I have previously studied towards an MA in Contemporary Literature and BA in English Literature with Philosophy and Ethics at the University of Liverpool and Liverpool Hope University respectively, during which I experienced and benefited from exposure to a multitude of approaches and interpretations of these subjects, in my own research as well as from tutors and fellow students. I am also fluent in French, having lived in Belgium as a child; as a result, I am very conscious of how I and others translate our ideas into words, interested in the process of developing self-expression and understanding, as well as able to adapt quickly and effectively.

Teaching Experience:

Over the course of my studies, and particularly over the last year, I have participated in and taught BA and MA level seminars, including co-teaching a second year undergraduate module in English Literature, for which I lectured, led seminars, marked coursework, and held tutorials with individual students. I have also tutored a student studying towards professional accreditation as a Chartered Surveyor in English, going over their written work and coaching them for their presentations.

Tutoring Approach:

I am primarily interested in establishing what the student expects and hopes to gain from tuition, in understanding their knowledge of and approach to the subject and in collaborating to develop it further, as well as creating a shared space into which I can bring in other ideas. I feel that defining and developing a sophisticated and highly personal approach to a subject is the most important aspect of education, for both academic achievement and in relating your studies to your life as a whole, and this is what I want to encourage; my own adaptability, interest in communicating ideas, and thorough knowledge of these subjects allow me to pick up on strengths and weaknesses in different approaches and to help them to realise their potential in relating them to established ideas and practices.

Personal Description:
Hello,

I am a French native living in the UK for two years while I have been improving my English a lot which is very helpful for me to explain French language to complete beginners. I am enjoying my new life in London.

I am educated to a Masters Degree in Business Law in France and I've discovered here in the UK an interest in teaching while taking a temporary French teaching job opportunity which finally became permanent.

I started teaching French as a private Tutor in Essex and I really enjoyed it so I would like to carry on in this direction.

My students usually describe me as friendly, knowledgeable, helpful, patient and dedicated (the school regularly collect students' opinions through anonymous surveys).

Teaching Experience:

I have been a private tutor in France in various subjects like Maths, English, Spanish, and help to general homework.
In the UK, I have been a private tutor in French for over a year. I first had a couple of students who were two brothers aged 12 and 13 years.
Since January 2013 I have had quite a number of private students through Tutor UK and most of them are still currently learning French with me.
I have been teaching French for a private Languages School for almost a year now and have gained an amazing experience in teaching. I am really enjoying sharing my knowledge and see my students improving, asking useful questions, and having fun after all, speaking a new language as if they had always known it.

Tutoring Approach:

My approach to Tutoring is very adapted to each student as this is the main point of a private tuition.
After assessing my student's level and setting their goals whether they would like to improve certain skills (eg. accentuating speaking, or listening, or grammar..) or to learn from the beginning.

I provide grammar rules and methods, using a lot of examples and vocabulary. I give my students exercises to practise and make sure they understand the grammar part which is important for understanding the language and how to use it. I try to vary exercises between pronunciation, sentences construction, reading and writing for beginners and improvers, including more conversations for improvers and advanced students.

I believe there is no secret, to learn or improve a language, practising is the key.

NB : Prices advertised on the subjects section correspond to £15/1hour/1person, couple or small group tuition available at very competitive price. Please note that £5 extra per session may be charged upon mutual agreement if travel costs me more than £5/return OR lasts more than 1hour/1way.

Personal Description:
I am a 22 year old who is currently working at RWS translations group in Chalfont St Peter. I have recently graduated from Durham University with a 2.1 BA in Modern Languages (French and Italian). I also studied Spanish up to 2nd year. I enjoy speaking different languages and try to pass on my enthusiasm for languages to others.

Teaching Experience:

My third year at University was spent abroad. I chose to teach in France for 7 months in two primary schools which I very much enjoyed. I loved to chat to the children and try to get them to see the importance of learning English. I also au-paired for three months in Italy during my Year Abroad, which involved private lessons with a 7 year old. I have also previously tutored French, which included exam preparation, focusing on problematic areas and improving confidence. I understand how difficult languages can be, I believe I can sympathise with the student. The lesson must be fun and the student needs to understand the importance of learning a language, in order to be enthusiastic about it.

Tutoring Approach:

I believe languages are crucial in education. Throughout university I took part in Routes into Languages, a consortium of universities working together with schools and colleges, to enthuse and encourage people to study languages. This role involved planning taster classes for small groups, introducing a new language into their education and broadening their knowledge of the world and different cultures. I particularly enjoyed this role as I was enable to communicate the importance of languages and perhaps inspire some of the children to carry languages on past year 9.

Personal Description:
I have a BA Honours degree in French and Spanish from the University of Leeds, and a post-graduate diploma in International Business from the University of Cambridge.

I am an enthusiastic teacher with a love of learning, and throughout my career have proven a consistent pattern of tutoring, teaching and training designed for and delivered to all ages. I believe that in order for a student to do well that they must feel engaged and be encouraged to think for themselves, and that rather than simply learn set answers to set questions they ought to know the subject to such an extent that it feels natural and unforced.

Teaching Experience:

My earliest teaching experience was tutoring a pre-GCSE student in English reading and comprehension whilst being in secondary school myself. Moving on from this I spent two years, again whilst still studying, teaching weaponry and aviation to cadet students of secondary school age.

Whilst in University I spent an academic year based in the Caribbean, on a French-Speaking island, where I was contracted to teach English as a foreign language to 6th form students ranging from 15 to 18 years of age. This was a wonderful experience and I was proud to have been able to coach my students into having a greater understanding of their chosen learning language, and to visibly see them gain confidence with their spoken foreign language skills.

Presently I very much enjoy being based in an Early Years setting Huntingdon, where on a weekly basis I teach French to our Pre-School age group who are between three and five years of age. Again this is very rewarding and at the same time challenging: not only is this teaching done with a group of between 8 and 14 children, but because we have many children who are already learning two (or maybe three!) languages I have to also ensure that our curriculum is as developmentally and culturally appropriate as possible.

Tutoring Approach:

I have an open and flexible approach to teaching which I like to adapt to each individual student and their needs. Please speak with me about what you would like to gain exactly from your tutoring experience and I will be more than happy to tailor my sessions to your request.

Personal Description:
Hello there! My name is Tanyel and I am an undergraduate student at King's College London. I study BA French and Management and will be entering my second year in September.

I am available to tutor over the summer 2013 starting immediately, with a possibility of continuing this for when I am back at university.

Teaching Experience:

I have a wide range of tutoring experience. This originated from when I was in Sixth Form and developed a knack for explaining things to my classmates and friends. Since then, my enjoyment in tutoring has led me to be involved in two tutoring projects. This is both privately in my local area and also voluntarily, the latter being with my university and an organisation called Team Up ().

Tutoring Approach:

We would work through a main textbook (CGP range seems to work best) and I provide explanations in a clearer, more interactive manner to clarify understanding. I then set homework tasks based on what we have learnt. I can connect with all my students on a friendly level in this way, pausing to answer any questions, whilst ensuring progression and focus at all times. I have seen this approach work countless times in my experience. In some cases, students enjoy it so much they ask me to set them even more homework!

Personal Description:
I am a former Advanced Skills Teacher with many years of experience working in a comprehensive school with all abilities. My key priority is to provide a safe learning setting where the learner can feel free to ask questions and make mistakes, enabling them to make progress session by session.

Enhanced CRB status February 2014

Clearly you will need to know if this will be the right arrangement for you, so the first lesson is free with no commitment to continue.

Teaching Experience:

I have taught pupils from 11 years upwards to Advanced Level pupils heading for Oxbridge. I have worked as an examiner for an exam board, set and marked papers at GCSE and taught adults in evening classes.

I have recently successfully coached a pupil who sat and was awarded the Queen's Scholarship to enter Westminster School, London: a unique examination testing a whole range of traditional skills set at a relatively demanding level for this age group. Future candidates would be welcome to contact me.

Tutoring Approach:

The internet offers new opportunities for studying a language: long distance learning is made possible through Skype and Google docs which enable both teacher and student to see and edit each other's work as it is being written, as well as the opportunity to leave spoken feedback and model accents to improve oral fluency: all available at any time to the student.

Tuition also offered in student's home if required.

On-line tasks are set in between lessons to practise skills learnt.

Lively approach including games where appropriate.

Teaching linked to the exam board specification you are working towards including specific skills at GCSE / A level
Grammar taught relevant to your needs.

Feedback after each session to parents/ guardian or carer if requested to include likely grade potential at GCSE / A level.

A / AS level students will work through short accessible texts to build up topic vocabulary but also support class tuition in your college or school.

Common Entrance Level candidates or specific entry exams for schools will receive very focused teaching to prepare for the exam.

Adult tuition for business or leisure.

I would be pleased to work with students in groups of 2 or 3 for a reduced fee per person.

I would adapt my courses to you, your level and the points that you need to improve. I can give formal courses as lessons, costumised exercices, help with essays, or more informal teaching as conversations (business speaking, law, culture in general, ...).

Personal Description:
I am a friendly and enthusiastic student currently studying, BA Modern Languages and European Studies (German and ab initio Russian) in my first year at the University of Bath. I am very passionate, approachable and am dedicated to helping all of my students obtain their goals. As an undergraduate myself, I find empathising with students simple and can as a result help overcome obstacles whilst maintaning a laid back and fun learning environment.

Teaching Experience:

Throughout my time of studying in sixth form, I taught English, Maths and French to pupils of various different ages at a local primary school, this enabled me to enhance my own skills of passing on what I know to others. In addition to this I also tutored younger secondary chool students in English and French, which the students found beneficial in preparation for their GCSE exams.

Tutoring Approach:

A relaxed environment is in my opinion, as a student at one of the UKs leading universities, crucial. Students, no matter their age, thrive on having fun whilst learning.

In terms of language learning I do not believe that sifting through long and tedious grammar books is at all fun. Nor can most people learn well by doing this. Therefore I help people to learn languages through other methods, which will provide a practical use of the grammar in context as opposed to learning many endings and verb tables. This has ultimately helped me become multilingual and fluent in many languages.
