Personal Description:
After obtaining my Master degree in St. Petersburg Academy (Russia, 2000) Ph.D. in fine art through Sorbonne (Paris, 2008), I moved to the UK and have been teaching part time with the Russian Art School in Oxford and Russian School in London. I specialise in Russian language, graphic design and textile art.

Teaching Experience:

I have tutored private students and taught classes of adolescent and pre-adolescent children through the Russian School in London as described above. Previously I have also taught Fine art in the St Petersburg Art School in Russia.

Tutoring Approach:

My approach to tutoring is holistic - I believe art is an expression of personal experience, and as such teaching technique is a means to an end rather than an end in itself. As an expression of a person's experience of life, art is also about beauty, and sharing the way that is perceived.

I teach a few students in London both French and Italian at a range of levels from beginner and A-Level standard to advanced adult learners. Students leave lessons strongly encouraged and enthusiastic requesting further lessons.

Chosen for the British Council's Comenius scheme, teaching English in a French school. I was also a culture reference point for the school's exchange program.

Accepted onto, even as the youngest teacher, and completed the TEFL program. I was then asked by my instructors to come and teach there after the course had finished.

Taught Italian at local school in Leicester.

Chosen by my university to encourage those at a local school to continue studying French, providing lessons and giving an insight as to how their French studies would progress.

Teaching Assistant in North London teaching French, coached sports and helped significantly in the smooth flow of the daily school activities.

Tutoring Approach:

Personal Description:
I was born into a French-speaking family and have spoken French my entire life. I have a BA from the London School of Economics in French and Linguistics. I have also lived in France for several years. I have taught French privately for over 20 years and many of my students achieve very high standards. I am very dedicated to my students and try and get the best out of them. One mother with five children of differing ages from 6 years old to 18, where the children were attending Harrodian in Barnes said that her children told her I "was the best French teacher they ever had" - that works for me!

Teaching Experience:

Teaching privately French for over 20 years from beginners to University students as well as adults has given me a great deal of experience across different goals and varying levels. I teach spoken French for those who only want to simply speak the language as well as grammar for those who need to take exams. I work with University students to achieve top grades in dissertations and essays or oral exams. One of my recent students was told by her lecturers she would get a 3rd in her degree ended up getting a 2:1 - not bad eh? I love French literature so if you are studying a piece of literature, I will be able to guide you through the book. I sing with some of my students as I find singing is a wonderful way of learning a language especially where vocabulary is limited. Other students need to listen to French radio in order to accustom the ear to current spoken language and we work together to understand what is being said.

Tutoring Approach:

I begin by assessing the pupils strengths and weaknesses and then plan lessons to suit the individuals needs. The most important aspect is for the pupil to enjoy the lesson so learning French is a pleasure and not a chore. I also spend time teaching exam techniques as these are as important as studying the language itself.

Personal Description:
I am a 22 year old who is currently working at RWS translations group in Chalfont St Peter. I have recently graduated from Durham University with a 2.1 BA in Modern Languages (French and Italian). I also studied Spanish up to 2nd year. I enjoy speaking different languages and try to pass on my enthusiasm for languages to others.

Teaching Experience:

My third year at University was spent abroad. I chose to teach in France for 7 months in two primary schools which I very much enjoyed. I loved to chat to the children and try to get them to see the importance of learning English. I also au-paired for three months in Italy during my Year Abroad, which involved private lessons with a 7 year old. I have also previously tutored French, which included exam preparation, focusing on problematic areas and improving confidence. I understand how difficult languages can be, I believe I can sympathise with the student. The lesson must be fun and the student needs to understand the importance of learning a language, in order to be enthusiastic about it.

Tutoring Approach:

I believe languages are crucial in education. Throughout university I took part in Routes into Languages, a consortium of universities working together with schools and colleges, to enthuse and encourage people to study languages. This role involved planning taster classes for small groups, introducing a new language into their education and broadening their knowledge of the world and different cultures. I particularly enjoyed this role as I was enable to communicate the importance of languages and perhaps inspire some of the children to carry languages on past year 9.

Personal Description:
Hi there,
My name is Vera. I am 27 years young and have left my teaching job at a secondary school to become a private tutor. I am a native speaker of German, I have a B.A. in German and English and an A-level in French. I have been living in England for 7 years now.
In my free-time I love to read, I enjoy taking my dog for a walk in the countryside and I volunteer in the local Good Neighbours Scheme ... and lots more.
I think I am a good humoured and honest person and I love teaching people languages.

Teaching Experience:

Originally I studied in Germany to become an English and German teacher but as often in life things do not go according to plan and I met my boyfriend over here and of course my plans changed. I decided to become a teacher for Modern Foreign Languages in England instead. With my degree in English and German I decided to refresh my French and completed a French course for teachers at Portsmouth University. After this I qualified as a teacher with a stared first at Southampton University and worked in a secondary school until deciding to work as a private tutor only.
For more than 10 years now I have been teaching in schools or privately as well as working in translations, it is huge fun and I enjoy the contact with different people.

Tutoring Approach:

My approach to tutoring is to assess the needs of the tutee and plan lessons accordingly. I think it is very important to know the grammar of a language in order to speak it fluently. However, at GCSE level for example it is more important to know vocabulary. Usually tutees know best what they need and what lessons they want.
Please note, prices are correct for when you come to my house. If you would like to meet somewhere or at your house, I charge £5 for petrol money and driving time.

Personal Description:
I am a 17 year old girl who is currently studying her AS Levels in Biology, Chemistry, Maths and French.
I have completed my GCSE`s and gained 2Astar`s, 7A`s and 3B`s and I am predicted 4A`s in my AS Levels.
I enjoy socialising with friends and family alike but also have a passion for learning and hope to go further into the field of Chemistry, such as Chemical Engineering, Forensic Chemistry or Analytical Chemistry.

I hope to see some of you soon!

Teaching Experience:

I have never tutored before but I often help younger members in my family with advice and help on their work and school worries, by sharing my personal experiences and I aim to get them to achieve their full potential and to find a pathway which they have a passion for at an early age.

Tutoring Approach:

I believe that tutors and students should always have good communication and the way to do that is to build a solid foundation between each other by listening and aiding in a proactive way, rather than forcing a student to learn something.
I understand that all students learn in different ways and believe that I am versatile enough to adapt to their ways and try a range of activities with them to help them grasp their full ability.

Concurrently, I have also worked as a private tutor teaching GCSE Maths, Chemistry and Physics as well as 11+ Maths preparation.

Tutoring Approach:

Once I understand exactly what a tutee hopes to achieve (e.g. A* Maths GCSE, or simply understanding algebra) I have three main priorities as a tutor:

i) to identify a students strengths and weaknesses through short tests

ii) to provide a course of study and assessment that will focus on the weaknesses and monitor progress

iii) to give the student belief in themselves and their abilities and to instill a love of learning!

Personal Description:
Hello, I will be entering the MSc in Psychology this September as a foreign student from Slovenia. I have many skills in teaching and learning languages, and wish to tutor French parallel to my university courses. Besides my classic linguistic and pedagogical background I specialized special educational needs which permits me to adapt the subject to persons with neurodevelopmental disorders, such as autism, dyslexia, dyspraxia, gifted, hiperactive etc. Moreover, the specific certificates in french didactics equiped me besides with french language and culture also with knowledge about french art, history, geography, gastronomy. Besides french, I have also been teaching slovene and croatian language which are my mother tongues. I am innovative, enthusiastic and reliable.

Teaching Experience:

I have experience with all levels and all ages. I have also been teaching pupils with special educational needs. I can teach you basics in a very short period of time. I have experience with specific educational needs such as preparation for travelling or studying in France. I can also equip you with specific vocabulary, such as medical, law, business, art, everyday practical... I have experience with beginners and those who consider themselves with no talent for language learning.

Tutoring Approach:

My lessons are organised upon the person's previous experiences. I believe that each individual has his characteristics, beliefs, emotions, memories, consciousness and the course should be organised upon that. I have already worked with various textbooks and manuals and I also provide my own material. I can also teach language through drama, music, colours and mouvement. I can teach you basics in a very short period of time.

Personal Description:
I am a recent graduate from the University of Liverpool where I very much enjoyed studying English Literature and French, graduating with a First Class Honours degree. I have taken a year out between graduating and beginning a Masters Course in Medieval Literature, and hope to further my teaching experience during this year. Having spent ten years learning French, I am very familiar with the joys and challenges of learning a foreign language, including aspects such as grammar and vocabulary. I also consider it very important that the person learning the foreign language should become confident when speaking, and think if approached in the right way this can be a hugely enjoyable learning experience. I spent a year abroad studying at La Sorbonne University in Paris as part of the Erasmus programme, and so have thoroughly undergone the experience of being intimidated speaking a foreign language!; I am always patient and encouraging with my students to give them the most relaxed and enjoyable learning environment. I am passionate about English Literature, but understand that it can be difficult for younger learners to fully experience what the subject has to offer whilst following such a tight curriculum. My aim is to motivate younger learners to rediscover the enjoyment in school and college-level English, as this naturally leads on to effective study results.

Teaching Experience:

I am currently studying for my 120-hour TEFL qualification which is allowing me to further develop teaching techniques which will offer the most enjoyable and effective learning experience for my tutees.

I spent this Summer in Poland teaching English to Polish young people, which included one-to-one conversation to develop fluency and confidence in spoken English. I also gave grammar and vocabulary tuition to these students.

I also have experience teaching English in a larger group, as I worked in the Asylum Link Centre in Liverpool which specialises in developing the spoken English of asylum seekers from around the world; this gave me experience teaching people with a range of skill-levels.

Tutoring Approach:

In an initial session I think it best to ascertain what the student hopes to achieve from our sessions. If there are specific vocabulary or grammatical points they would like to cover then we can go on to focus on these issues in as much detail as necessary. Similarly, if there are exams or tests which they are working towards, I am able to develop a learning plan so that we can work towards a specific date giving them as much help as possible to succeed. If, on the other hand, a tutee would prefer simply to experience speaking their target language, I am very happy to spend a more relaxed lesson conversing, either with immediate or end-of-lesson feedback, according to their preferences. For this latter type of lesson it can be helpful to go to a quiet coffee shop, or go for a walk, to make the speaking experience as relaxed as possible, as from experience I know this is certainly the best way to learn.

Personal Description:
I am a 26 year old, qualified Modern Foreign Languages teacher, currently working in Alcester. I am incredibly diligent, organised and devoted to promoting a love of language learning as well as a desire to ensure GCSE students achieve their very best in exams. As a teacher myself, I have access to past papers as well as having built up a wide range of teaching resources with which to teach. I am associated with a school wherein AQA is the examining body for Modern Foreign Languages although this does not hinder me as a prospective tutor for those studying under Edexcel or WJEC.
I believe my communication skills, confidence and ability to work under pressure and ability to adapt to varying situations with ease makes me a sound investment for anyone looking to pass their GCSEs, brush up on their language skills or even learn a new language from scratch.

Teaching Experience:

I have been teaching Modern Foreign Languages for 3 years to GCSE and whilst new to the profession, I believe this only stands to serve as an additional attribute. Within my teaching practice, I have had experience of teaching across all levels and abilities from the 11-16 age range in secondary schools. In addition to offering one-to-one tuition for GCSE students, I also offer tuition sessions for adults wishing to learn or 'brush up on' French or German.

Tutoring Approach:

My tutoring sessions are individually tailored based on the need of the tutee, however sessions usually focus on the key skills of language learning which are listening, reading, speaking and writing. My sessions aim to engage, interact and interest the learner as much as possible.

Personal Description:
Hello, I am from Paris, I have a honour degree in Arts from the University of Edinburgh (2003), and have been making painting and ceramics then.

I have also developed an interest in health, nutrition and complementary therapies so studied reflexology and qualified as a reflexologist in 2011.

I love culture: the arts, music and literature so I am currently learning German and improving my Spanish because I want to explore more European cities.

Teaching Experience:

I trained as a secondary school French teacher 10 years ago in Wales.

Since then I have been teaching French to undergraduate students, to adults in evening classes also at university and in private lessons, and to pupils in one to one after-school lessons.

I am currently a supply teacher in secondary schools in South Wales so I am familiar with GCSE and A-level requirements.

Tutoring Approach:

After approaching my student on her/his chosen areas of focus (GCSE pupils can expect to improve their writing skills as much as or even more than their speaking skills, while professional people may prefer to be more at ease first with their conversational skills) I try and devise lesson plans that are well-focused and engaging.

I use recent and stimulating resources such as French films, documentaries, online blogs and magazines.

Having done some acting in my early twenties I like to take inspiration from the feeling of acting and improvising. this does not mean that my students end up reciting impressive French speeches standing up in a cafe, but rather that I have a mind that naturally tries to create situations that lend themselves to role playing or improvising moods, etc.
