I am currently studying Dentistry at University of Birmingham. I have completed my GCSE'S and A level's at King Edward Camp Hill Boys. At King Edwards Camp Hill School for boys I tutored students who were preparing fro GCSE'S as well as A levels. Mentoring was a very rewarding scheme as it involved me helping underachieving pupils raise their grades.

Tutoring Approach:
Each pupil will be treated individually depending upon their needs. I have a very structured approach to learning and have very high expectations of my pupils. I shall use the students appropriate curriculum to help them go through each topic and then using past papers I shall test them on each topic. I Shall then discuss with them where they could improve and help them understand where they went wrong. This is a vigorous method but a successful one too.

This has meant that I have taught all curriculum subjects at a variety of levels over the past few years. I work in an inner city school, and so have extensive experience of supporting children who have English as an additional language. I am a 3rd year Masters of Mathematics student at the University of Warwick. I have many years experience of tutoring students of various ages.

Because of my young age, you will find that my fees are relatively small in comparison to other tutors, although I believe my young age is actually a positive. It means that I know the current GCSE and A Level syllabuses better than other tutors, and I am also able to identify with the learning needs of the student more effectively than older tutors will.

Teaching Experience:
I have taught classes of up to 15 students at a time teaching GCSE up to A Level. I did this for a period of 2 years.
I have also tutored mathematics 1:1 to both GCSE and A Level students.
Some of my students have went on to Oxford and Cambridge universities.

Tutoring Approach:
I cater for all abilities, and ensure that each student fulfills their maximum potential. Lessons are fairly relaxed and informal while always focussing on a thorough understanding rather than 'robotic memorising techniques'.
Of course every student is different and from my experience of tutoring, I am able to tailor to the individual needs of each student and their learning techniques.
My approach has already been shown to work, and I am proud of where my past students have ended up.

About the Lessons:
The lessons will be very challenging but they will also be fun and engaging. We will work through problem sheets together and new problem sheets will be set each week for the student to complete which will serve to complement their school/college work. This is not to say that the lessons will not be relaxed. I believe that top grades and a positive atmosphere to learning actually go hand-in-hand and therefore, the lessons, while being extremely efficient, will be informal at the same time.

Personal Description:
Currently, I am studying Law with American Legal systems at the UEA in Norwich. I believe I am fun to be around and find I make friends easily. In my chosen subject area, I achieved A grade in both English subjects (Lit & Lang), History and P.E at G.C.S.E, as well as A's in Eng lang, History & P.E at A-level.

In terms of the self defense training I can offer, I have a 1st Dan (Black belt) in Shotokan karate and have been practicing this for 8 years now. I enjoy karate as it requires discipline and focus and is something that I can dedicate time and effort to whilst also improving myself as a person. Learning a martial art also can help improve self-confidence. I am able to teach a variety of practical self defence techniques for use against single or multiple attackers and can adapt the practices taught in Karate to almost any situation.

I consider myself patient and understanding, I have no problem spending as long as is necessary to get to grips with difficult subject material.

Teaching Experience:
I have tutored in English Language now for several months.

At my previous grammar school I helped with 'afterschool homework club' and also assisted my mother for several years on free afternoons at the Primary school she taught at.

I have also coached Hockey at club level and Karate up to Black belt standard, so have a range of experience in 'teaching' roles.

Tutoring Approach:
I find that patience and dedication go a long way when it comes to learning any subject to a high level. I am happy to spend as long as possible on any topic revising and finding ways to make it easily digestable and understandable. I have also attended several study skill lectures at University .

I am flexible in my teaching methods and have found that often it is just finding the right formula for learning to apply to any form of education, once you have the right method the rest is easy.

Being a young person myself, I have found it is easier to relate to the students I teach. Having recently gone through the stress of A-levels and the university procedure myself, I can understand first hand the need to do well at school and the pressures placed on you.
