Personal Description:
I am a very keen and enthusiastic university graduate and love to help others learn. I specialize with children and young adults. I am a good role model as I am bubbly, show confidence and balance my career with my social life including my sports (rock climbing and snowboarding).

I have a range of experience in childcare and tuition and find different ways for my pupils to understand the materials they are learning. I find ways in which they can relate to the information which helps them retain the information for longer.
I have had several years of experience with private tutoring producing great results (please ask if you would like a reference).

Teaching Experience:

All throughout my University degree I was working part-time at Explore Learning, a Maths and English tuition center designed to help children with their national curriculum between the ages of 5 and 14. This has given me valuable experience on many different teaching techniques as well as keeping up to date with the new learning strategies that children are using in their day to day learning at school.
My one on one tutoring experience ranges from GCSE level to Primary Maths and English including other topics such as Current affairs.
On a sporting level, I gained my Canadian Association of Snowboard Instructors qualification in 2009 and have continued to teach snowboarding over in Italy with Interski in my university holidays.

Quote from a reference: 'Rabia will definitely miss your cheery and happy persona. She has had other tutors but with nowhere near the enthusiasm and effort that you put in! She looks forward to you coming and has a real connection with you.'

Tutoring Approach:

I have many different approaches to learning, dependant on the age of the pupil. I like to use targets and rewards to keep motivation levels high and learning is fun by relating the subject to my tutee's everyday life. I ensure there are several reviews and assessments to enhance progression and keep on track.

Personal Description:
"Thank you very much for the great work you did with my daughter Sophie. She progressed from a 'C' grade to an 'A' grade in the space of 6 months and I would have no hesitation in recommending you to friends." - Billy, Bangor

As an experienced private tutor with a 100% pass rate, I offer highly effective, tailored lessons to a wide-range of students with various ability, learning types, and academic stages.

I have a passion for learning and an appreciation for all the forms this can take. My approach is tailored to each student's own learning style and my methods aim to both support and engage them to continue learning in their own way.

Teaching Experience:

"The learning exercises were always set around my interest areas, making tuition both fun and effective. Following my sessions with Andrew, I have developed a more concise way of communicating. My writing now has more flow, which helps me say what I need to say." - Neil , Newtownabbey

Professional certified Life Coach and successful university graduate (1st class hons) with additional masters research degree. Taught at Secondary school and now several successful years tutoring especially English and Maths for most ages and stages, and passionate about encouraging the potential of each of my students.

Also a regular public speaker leading seminars on themes ranging from stress-management and communication skills, to enhancing personal confidence and self fulfilment.

Tutoring Approach:

"Andrew was very professional in his approach to tutoring. My daughter gained confidence in her ability to understand her subject and to recall information using association techniques which proved very useful in her examinations."
Grainne, Randalstown

Combining motivational coaching techniques, I offer a fully engaging and personalised education. While encouraging the student to adopt high yet achievable targets for their own eduction, I am also sensitive to the level of each student and what he or she is ready to adopt.

This coaching-based approach I take has proven highly successful for my students, as my many positive references show. I approach each student and the sessions with an open-minded attitude of what I need to learn in order to be of support. I have many areas of interest outside of education, and pride myself in my ability to engage my students at their level and within their current areas of interest. My reward is seeing students succeed in their studies as well as developing their own personal skills and confidence.

AREAS COVERED / WHAT TO EXPECT

I help primary, secondary, university/college and mature students with reading, spelling, comprehension and every area of Maths up to GCSE. Alongside the specific subjects I tutor in, I can incorporate motivational coaching on exam and essay skills. This will ensure maximum value for your investment of time, effort and money

For English or Maths the first lesson will consist of a complimentary educational assessment (usually 30 minutes) to help identify key areas for improvement . All results shared with the parent/guardian. Based on this initial assessment, a 100% individual programme of learning is tailored for your child.

Upon request I am also able to provide emotional literacy around life skills such as: motivation, communication, self belief and concentration.

"I would like to take the opportunity to thank you for tutoring Philip this year; he adapted well with you as his new tutor and enjoyed your approach to teaching.
"I would have no hesitation in recommending Andrew as a tutor. I found him to be polite, courteous, reliable, and accommodating."
- Doreen, Ballyclare

Personal Description:
I am mum to two boys, both now at Bournemouth University. I try to visit them as much as I can...Bournemouth is a great place to be...lots of sunshine! In my spare time, I love to shop and also exercise, especially pilates. Oh and I do love to cook!

Teaching Experience:

I studied at Dundee College of Education where I gained a Diploma in Primary Education. This was a three year course. I then took another Certificate in Early Years. After leaving College, I taught in both the state and private primary sector. I left teaching to have my children and then to nurse my youngest child who was quite sick for a few years. Once his health was better, I started working as a tutor from home or going to the client's house to tutor. I now tutor seven days a week. I have experience in Maths, Language, Phonics and Grammar. I also tutor children in preparation for entrance exams in to the independent sector, which includes Verbal, Non-Verbal Reasoning, Maths, Language and Spelling. The children I have tutored have all had great success, many going forward for a scholarship.

Tutoring Approach:

I always believe that the child should feel comfortable with the person they are being tutored by and build up a good relationship. Tutoring is not only about helping the child to succeed but also for them to gain confidence and self belief. I have various methods of tutoring from written work, reading and oral work. I also have a computer available where we can work from. eg online games After each lesson, I give the child homework to be completed for the next lesson.

Personal Description:
I have 5 years experience working as a Spanish teacher in secondary schools in London teaching years 7 to 13, and my exam classes have a very good track record. I have worked with both Edexcel and AQA in this time, so I know what it takes to get the best grades, especially at GCSE. I am also very happy to work with younger children, helping them to feel more confident with mastering the basics in a language. If your child needs extra support or practice with any particular area, just let me know.

I have made several trips to South America, and have lived in Chile and Spain. I am also a fan of Spanish and Latin American films and literature, so if you would like to incorporate some more cultural aspects into lessons just let me know, as this can be very motivating.

Teaching Experience:

I am PGCE qualified, CRB checked, and have been working as a Spanish teacher for the last 5 years.

Tutoring Approach:

I get on well with children and young people, and would be happy to focus on any area with which they needed extra help. Sessions would be individually tailored and at the student's own pace. If there are any specific texts, exam boards or textbooks with which the pupil is working I would request some advance warning of this.

Personal Description:
I am a friendly and approachable teacher and have high expectations. I try to help and encourage my students to reach their potential and enjoy their time with me.

I am aware of any syllabus change and have attended courses run by the OCR, Edexcel and AQA examination boards to update myself.

Teaching Experience:

I taught in a secondary school for over six years until 2006 and since this time have been tutoring full time. I have experience across the 10-18 age and ability range. I am experienced in working with lower ability children, including those who have a Statement for Educational Needs.

However, I now mainly concentrate teaching GCSE and A-level:
I teach both English Language and Literature up to GCSE. I also teach History at both GCSE and A-level as well as Politics at A-level. I am experienced and skilled in exam preparation.

Tutoring Approach:

I am a patient and caring teacher and before I start with the lessons I discuss with the parent and the pupil their subject weaknesses. I also discuss what they are learning in school not only to give me the ability to help them understand the subject, but also to enable me to know what they want to achieve through my teaching. I give homework and then discuss with the pupil the different ways that they can make improvements so that they gain confidence with their studies. In certain cases I do not give homework as the schoolwork might be heavy.

After each lesson I always make time to talk to the parent to discuss what I have taught their child and tell them what homework has been set. This way the parent, pupil and myself can give immediate feedback.

I have excellent people skills and try to build a good relationship with my students so that they enjoy their lessons.

Personal Description:
I am a young and enthusiastic private tutor with more than 5 years' experience, specializing in English Literature. I am familiar with a wide range of literature, including many popular school set texts. I welcome tuition requests from students at all levels and of all ages.

I hold a First Class BA degree in English as well as an MA in Victorian Studies with Distinction, both from the University of Exeter. I am also in my final year of a PhD in Victorian Literature at the University of London.

Teaching Experience:

I have taught a range of ages and abilities in English Literature, both in the UK and the US. I have tutored children learning to read, primary school children, secondary school students (KS3, GCSE and A level), university students (at BA and MA level), and adult learners (including those studying an online course and those studying with the Open University).

Two years ago I also began giving tuition on English grammar and punctuation to adult learners wishing to improve their business communication skills.

I also have experience of helping teach primary school children to read, write, and improve their comprehension skills.

Tutoring Approach:

My approach is tailored to each individual students according to their needs, following a consideration of their strengths and weaknesses in the course of the first two sessions. This enables me to teach and enthuse each student. When students are shown different ways of looking at a text, and ways in which it relates to their own lives, literature becomes much more accessible, encouraging them to study and achieve better academic grades.

Extra tutoring gives students individual attention beyond the scope of the classroom, and offers an opportunity to look at set texts in more detail, and at the right pace.

Improving students' confidence is central to my approach to tutoring. With individually tailored tutoring, determination to succeed, and improved confidence, my students are able to achieve excellent grades and reach their full potential.

Personal Description:
I recently finished a 2 year course at Greenhead Sixth-Form College and am currently taking a BA in English at the University of Oxford. English Literature, History, Mathematics and Physics were my chosen subjects; I dropped Physics in the second year. Voted by The Times as number 1 sixth-form state college, Greenhead was a challenge. Through hard work, I achieved highly (as shown by my qualifications). My first year at Oxford University has come to a close: I achieved a 2.1. I am calm and polite, unpretentious and enthusiastic, consistent and professional in behaviour, but always friendly and never clinical.

Teaching Experience:

At Greenhead I volunteered to help students, especially in Maths and English, and I often voluntarily read with school children at Lightcliffe Primary. I have only recently decided to tutor, but have a past immersed in education (both my parents are teachers).

Tutoring Approach:

I understand the value of your education and the importance of a personalised approach to learning. I advocate a focused, disciplined education, but understand how to motivate younger, or less mature tutees. I know my fields well and keep up to date in current advances - anything I need to learn, I will, swiftly and with pleasure. I am extremely perceptive, able to quickly and effectively identify how a tutee learns best. Having recently left education myself, I can sympathise with those currently part of it. This, I believe, is a huge advantage - as one recently taught, I know what is an effective, modern way of teaching. Above all, I simply enjoy the rewards of good tutoring: watching a tutee grow and thrive. In little other professions is such a reward possible, and this, ultimately, is why I am so dedicated to spending every second required to make your tutoring a success.

Personal Description:
I am a twenty-five year old student living in Earlsfield, London. I am currently training to become a professional actor having completed my undergraduate degree in English Literature and Drama at the University of Sheffield.

I have a real passion for education and feel I am perfectly placed to help students not least because I am passionate and well experienced, but because, as I remain I student myself, I know what constitutes good teaching.

Having a degree in English Literature and Drama means I would be confident to tutor in English Literature, English Language, Theatre Studies and Drama at A Level or below.

I can also direct speeches for drama school entry and advise on applications.

Teaching Experience:

I am experienced in teaching ages 7-19.

I have also run large group workshops with secondary and primary school children.

I have also studied teaching techniques used in museums and devised theatre projects to communicate exhibits to varying age ranges.

Tutoring Approach:

I am a firm believer that the best way to learn is by interaction. I am myself a creative learner, and thus my teaching takes a creative slant.

I am passionate about theatre and the power that human interaction has on learning so I embark on lively lessons designed to create enthusiasm for subjects - so students will not just see them as perfunctory nuisances. I am also incredibly logical and a rigorous planner, who can create realistic targets and see them come to fruition.

Personal Description:
I am a Shakespeare fanatic with six years' classroom experience. I enjoy reading a wide range of fiction and non-fiction and became a teacher to share my passion for language. Now that I have a young family, I have decided to indulge my love of teaching outside the classroom to fit around raising my children. I keep in touch with my former colleagues to stay abreast of the rapidly developing education system.

Teaching Experience:

I have taught in Grammar schools in Kent, outer-London schools and a wide variety of institutions in Hong Kong. My subject knowledge covers English, Drama and Theatre Studies, and Classical Civilisation (the latter subjects are very useful for approaching English texts in innovative ways). I am most familiar with the new GCSE specification for AQA, but can happily adapt to other exam boards. I am a GCSE English Literature examiner for some boards also. I have experience tutoring 11-18 year olds and have worked with students with a variety of special needs.

Tutoring Approach:

I create personalised programmes to fit the needs of individual students and frequently adapt these to incorporate new texts and resources to keep the lessons fresh and relevant. My sessions tend to focus on assessment technique and start with short focused activities, building the skills necessary to complete longer written tasks designed to mimic the conditions of examinations. Alternatively, I can support students with their class work more directly, assisting with homework and helping with clarity of expression in other subjects too.

I aim for students to enjoy our sessions and feel comfortable asking questions; my main goal is to help them improve and I can only do that through honest discussion of issues. I do expect high standards and find that my pupils meet my expectations and gain grades they are proud of, when they apply themselves. Confidence is the key to learning and it is in this area that my students make the swiftest progress, which enables them to access the top grades and enjoy their increasing capability in a subject that at first seemed inaccessible.

For adult learners, I offer programmes that reflect each individuals' interests in language development and present activities in a variety of ways to keep lessons lively and relevant. I find that striking the balance between grammatical accuracy and colloquial usage allows second language students to feel much more confident interacting with native speakers.

I like to have a good rapport with tutees' parents as I feel that learning is a joint initiative. Testimonials from former clients are available upon request. My fee includes all resources (apart from set texts) and the loan of study guides and other useful materials as required.

Personal Description:
I am a qualified teacher with a Master's degree in English Literature. I have also recently graduated with a First class Honours degree in Physiotherapy from Salford University.

While studying for the Physiotherapy degree I have undertaken tutoring work online concentrating on study skills assignment support, and proofreading.

Teaching Experience:

I have experience of teaching within a local college and taught students from the age of 16 years old and above. This was primarily focused on Literacy and Study Skills. During this time I also taught students from a range of EU and international students focusing on their grasp of English as a second language. During this time I followed a Government-set curriculum to help students achieve G.C.S.E. equivalent grades to allow them to progress onto Access courses and beyond.

During my last degree I worked with students with learning difficulties including hearing impariments, dyslexia and dyspraxia. This involved notetaking, assignment structure and time management skills. More recently I have worked as a tutor online helping with essay planning and structuring, proof reading and correction of written work for spelling, grammar and paragraph restructuring, time management and organisational skills, referencing and completion of reference lists and proofreading for Further/Higher education students, up to Masters level.

I also have experience of helping international students in terms of organising the study skills, supporting them, and mentoring them on their difficult academic journey. I have also recently assisted with international publishing projects, mainly in the healthcare field

Tutoring Approach:

I take a structured and methodical approach to helping students and believe that if the right foundation is set and appropriate planning implemented, the student will achieve to the best of their ability.

For all assignments work I use a University-based academic writing skills format currently in use at the University of Salford.

I am offering tuition online, via email. Once we have agreed the way forward I will give you an honest appraisal of what services I am able to offer and the time that this is likely to take.

I am happy to send references if required. I have a CRB check from my Physiotherapy degree which will be updated by my current employer.

Please note that I am unable to write your academic assignments for you as this would be unethical.

Personal Description:
I am 48, married, with two secondary school aged children. I am currently a year 6 teacher working at a primary school in Staffordshire. Prior to taking up teaching seven years ago I was a journalist who worked in both newspapers, radio and television.

Teaching Experience:

I became a teacher six years ago, giving up a 20-year and highly successful career as a journalist to take on the rewards and challenges of the teaching profession. I am a year 6 primary school teacher with an excellent track record of securing success for my pupils in both the English and Maths end of Key Stage 2 national examinations. I am the Maths Co-ordinator at my school and have a vast array of resources to help children who particularly find maths a struggle. I have lots of experience of working on both a one-to-one and small group basis and have seen at first hand the difference this more personal approach can make.

Tutoring Approach:

With maths in particular, it is important to make teaching as hands-on as possible. The great imponderables of fractions, decimals and percentages are examples of topic areas where working with real-life, visual and physical examples pays off handsomely in my experience! I am also very experienced in teaching the art of problem solving, calculation strategies and some of the 'short cuts' which are vital to achieve success in the keenly-timed key stage two maths tests. I also teach the extension Level 6 programme to more able primary-aged children. I am also skilled in equipping children with the skills to be successful in the KS2 comprehension tests and improving their writing skills.

Personal Description:
I am a confident, warm, and highly approachable tutor with a degree in Drama and Performance; my background as a professional actor and performer has meant I have a capacity for versatility, communication and high level interpersonal skills. It has also endowed me with a flair for creativity and I am able to effectively channel this creativity through my teaching work. I am also passionate about languages, having studied Italian, Spanish and English Literature at A-level. My mum's family is Italian which I meant I learnt Italian while growing up and feel very much immersed in the Italian culture. I have worked, taught and travelled internationally.

Teaching Experience:

I'm a highly experienced private tutor who has been teaching Italian, Spanish and English Literature for 3 years. I have also taught English as a foreign language internationally in large classroom environments in Mexico.

Tutoring Approach:

Above all I think it's really important that the pupil feels comfortable, relaxed and at ease with their tutor and their learning environment. I like to find out as much as possible beforehand about the student's personal needs and preferred methods of study. Every pupil is different and learns in different ways. I tailor my teaching to each individual so that they get the best possible experience out of our sessions.
