I am a very keen and enthusiastic university graduate and love to help others learn. I specialize with children and young adults. I am a good role model as I am bubbly, show confidence and balance my career with my social life including my sports (rock climbing and snowboarding).

I have a range of experience in childcare and tuition and find different ways for my pupils to understand the materials they are learning. I find ways in which they can relate to the information which helps them retain the information for longer.

Teaching Experience:

All throughout my University degree I was working part-time at Explore Learning, a Maths and English tuition center designed to help children with their national curriculum between the ages of 5 and 14. This has given me valuable experience on many different teaching techniques as well as keeping up to date with the new learning strategies that children are using in their day to day learning at school.
My one on one tutoring experience ranges from GCSE level to Primary Maths and English including other topics such as Current affairs.
On a sporting level, I gained my Canadian Association of Snowboard Instructors qualification in 2009 and have continued to teach snowboarding over in Italy with Interski in my university holidays.

I have worked with both Edexcel and AQA in this time, so I know what it takes to get the best grades, especially at GCSE. From September 2017 I will be studying for a Masters in History through the Open University.

Teaching Experience:

I taught in a secondary school for over six years until 2006 and since this time have been tutoring full time. I have experience across the 10-18 age and ability range. I am experienced in working with lower ability children, including those who have a Statement for Educational Needs.

However, I now mainly concentrate teaching GCSE and A-level:
I teach both English Language and Literature up to GCSE. I also teach History at both GCSE and A-level. I am experienced and skilled in exam preparation.

Tutoring Approach:

I am a patient and caring teacher and before I start with the lessons I discuss with the parent and the pupil their subject weaknesses. I also discuss what they are learning in school not only to give me the ability to help them understand the subject, but also to enable me to know what they want to achieve through my teaching. I give homework and then discuss with the pupil the different ways that they can make improvements so that they gain confidence with their studies. In certain cases I do not give homework as the schoolwork might be heavy.

After each lesson I always make time to talk to the parent to discuss what I have taught their child and tell them what homework has been set. This way the parent, pupil and myself can give immediate feedback.

I have excellent people skills and try to build a good relationship with my students so that they enjoy their lessons.

I am an experienced teacher, who has taught privately one to one for a number of years. I have primarily taught English on a one to one basis for tutees who are preparing for their GCSE and "A" level examinations, but I am also experienced in helping tutees improve their literacy skills from a young age. I also have a wealth of experience of teaching English as a Foreign language on a one to one basis. I have taught in a number of language schools over the years, and at one point started a language school in southern Italy. Tutoring Approach:

One to one teaching, by its nature, is very intense, so it is very important to introduce variety as much as possible. A mixture of written work, as well as oral work, if required is essential to keep the tutee focused and interested in what you are teaching. I have been teaching privately for over 14 years and I have been teaching on-line for over 3 years and I am passionate about teaching Modern Foreign Languages. I graduated from Reading University in 1980 having also studied at Grenoble University in France followed later by a TEFL course at Swansea University.After teaching French and German in a secondary school I moved into Exporting. Since 2000 I have been running my French and German Tuition and Translation company. I make regular visits to France and Germany and have many contacts in both of these countries. I regularly work also as a Translator of French and German into English. Italian is another language which I teach having studied this fantastic language at Reading University. English as a Foreign Language is another subject with which I have great experience and I often work for SILC which is a French company that sends French teenagers to the U.K. to improve their English. I have organised educational visits for French teenagers also in the U.K. on behalf of SILC.

I have taught privately for over 14 years and previously worked as a French and German teacher in a secondary school and have taught French and German to adults at Leisure Centres for over six years. For the past 14 years I have taught French and German to all levels including University level with some excellent results at GCSE and A Level. I have also taught Italian online to Beginners and also supply Tuition via a Skype connection to students for all of my subject areas. I am a 30 year old female graduate from the University of Strathclyde, in Glasgow. I have a joint Honours degree in French and Italian (language and studies) for which I gained a 2:1. I am currently working in the Modern Languages department of St Ninian's High School in East arendreeshire. I spent a year abroad in Lyon, France, during my fourth year of university, where I worked as an English Language Assistant in two high schools. I am a qualified French & Italian teacher in secondary education and have acquired a great amount of experience throughout my different posts and have gained great confidence in teaching the new National 4 and 5 qualifications. I also have experience teaching the Higher Course in both languages. During my fourth year of University, I worked in two high schools in Lyon, France as an English language assistant, teaching children, teenagers and young adults, from the age of nine to twenty three. I was responsible for helping them with all aspects of the language, and developing their reading, writing, listening and verbal skills by preparing and working on a number of different activities. I also taught them about British culture, history and lifestyles so as to help develop their knowledge of Britain, particularly Scotland, in general. I ensured that I worked differently with different individuals, depending on their style of learning and I took a different approach accordingly. I aimed to make my style of teaching both informative and fun so that they enjoyed learning and I believe this is something I am always successful in as many tutees I have worked with have commented on my positive and helpful way of teaching.

In my final year of high school I was involved in the 'Peer Education' programme whereby I went into five different French and Italian classes and helped those who were experiencing difficulties with the subjects. I helped particularly with grammar issues as these seemed to pose the most problems for pupils and I also helped them prepare for upcoming speaking and writing tests. I also helped pupils to understand easier ways of making the most of their French or Italian dictionary and taught them creative and simple of ways of tackling listening and reading tests. Moreover, I worked on a one to one basis with a Higher grade pupil who was experiencing problems with French and we explored different ways of making difficult areas that much easier. I was also part of the 'Paired Reading' programme where I worked with pupils aged eleven to fifteen who experienced reading difficulties. I met with three pupils for one hour each week, on an individual basis, and we would work on techniques for improving their reading ability and they would read to me. These two programmes were very gratifying, especially when I witnessed a pupil's confidence grow as their reading skills improved.

I have also tutored two family friends, both in French and Italian, with a great focus on exam preparation and the skills that they needed to do well on class tests. I also help my niece and nephew with their French, focusing greatly on the areas they find the most difficult.

Tutoring Approach:

I take a different approach to my tutoring depending on the individual I am working with. On my first session with my tutee I will find out the areas that they are experiencing the most difficulty in, and what their strengths and weaknesses are, as this will help me to develop an effective and helpful way of teaching. I prepare various worksheets, practice tests and activities which are interactive and will allow for valuable learning. I will ask the tutee what their preferred way of learning is and look at ways in which they successfully learn in other subjects and try to incorporate this in to my way of teaching. I encourage tutees to ask questions wherever necessary and to state if they wish me to try a different approach. I believe communication is the key to successful learning and I pride myself on my friendly and approachable nature and my ability to achieve results in my tuition. On the whole, I am aware that my way of teaching has to be of benefit to the tutee so I will tailor my approach to suit their wants and needs.

I am a PhD student, undertaking my doctorate in Environmental Sciences, with a focus on soil nutrient cycling and nutrient transport to surface and ground waters. I completed my BSc in Physical Geography at the University of Exeter and gained first class honours in this.

Teaching Experience:

I carried out teacher training at a basic level with the University of Exeter in order to participate in the Students Associates Scheme. After this training I spent three weeks in a local secondary school where I actively participated in Geography and Religious Studies lessons, and was able to provide work plans for higher and lower achieving students. I also worked closely with students that had special educational needs.
I also have experience in teaching sports to groups of young children.

Tutoring Approach:

During my time at the secondary school I found that I produced good results working one-to-one with students, particularly with students that were struggling to understand concepts or were having difficulty with the teaching style being used in the classroom. Hi. My name is Llinos. I am 37 and live in Eastleigh near Southampton. I currently work part time as a History teacher in a senior state school. I have previously been Head of History in a very successful senior girls' grammar school and in private prep school. I have also had several History teaching roles up to A2 level as well as teaching Maths and English up to year 8.

Over the last 14 years I have taught a wide range of History topics at all levels and to a wide variety of abilities from EAL students to preparation for Oxbridge interviews. I have also prepared pupils up to 13 for the Common Entrance English examination and have provided on-going support in English focussing on literacy, grammar etc.

I work for OCR as an A Level and GCSE examiner so am fully aware of the requirements needed to attain the best grade possible here. I have also attended several INSETS of the other main exam boards at both GCSE and A Level as well as the most recent meeting for History at Common Entrance level so have a very good knowledge of all public examinations.

Teaching Experience:

I have been teaching History for over 14 years. I taught in a very high achieving boys' grammar school (Reading School) forc2 years before becoming Head of History in a very high achieving girls' school (Kendrick).
I taught all years including GCSE and A level and think that I have covered all main exam boards and many of the topics taught at all levels. Most girls gained A*-A grades at both levels.

I also ran the Berkshire group for the Learning Skills Council to work to improve attainment at A Level for all abilities as well as presenting at LSC conferences on study skills and how to stretch the most able in History.

I then taught in a private girls school where my duties involved helping pupils with English as a second language gain a higher-level pass at A Level as well as teaching all years of mixed ability including GCSE and A Level classes.

Until recently, I worked in a prep school as Head of History and delivered one-to-one lessons with all of my year 8 pupils in preparation for their exams. Last year, my class of 18 very mixed ability pupils all gained A*-B in their Common Entrance History exam.
I have also taught English, Geography, Maths and RS at secondary level.

Tutoring Approach:

I have done much work on study skills, particularly mind-mapping, and learning styles. It is a bit of a passion that I have in addition to the History!

I love teaching pupils one-to-one and working out what is going to be the best method (or methods) of learning for them. I also see that the problem can sometimes be happening at a very basic level to a large extent. For example - if a student is just sent off to 'make notes' without ever having been actually guided in HOW to make these notes.

I don't really think I have an 'approach' in general as I truly believe that, in a one-to-one situation, methods can and should be completely tailored to the specific needs of that individual pupil.
Depending on those needs, I can work with students to produce specific and useful sets of notes, work on examiantion technique, provide extensive essay feedback, help them recognise how to remember specific historical details and which ones to bother learning etc.

Hello. I am a teacher with an MA in History, an MA in Creative Writing and a degree in Politics and History. I am also a published playwright and poet. I have been teaching part time in an English department at a University for the last four years as well as working as a private tutor. Prior to that I was a writer in residence in a young offenders institution using creative writing and drama to improve the literacy, thinking and behaviour of young prisoners. In 2014 I ran writing and drama workshops in a women's prison in New Zealand. I have worked widely in youth theatre and have written a popular text book on creative writing. My drama has been produced on stage and radio in the UK, Australia and most recently the US. I've also directed for theatre, most recently at Watford Palace Theatre.
