Personal Description:
I am a hard working individual who is passionate about the English language. I have a large degree of writing and proof reading experience, achieved through working in both China and Japan, along with many media related roles within the UK. I am a native English speaker who has a very strong command of the language both orally and academically. I hold a 2:1 degree in Mass Communications and I am CELTA qualified, a Cambridge affiliated teaching qualification. I have a strong interest in China, I speak Mandarin to near fluency and I aim to achieve proficiency in the near future.

I achieved a Pass B grade in terms of my CELTA qualification which I completed in August 2015. Only a minority of trainees receive such a grade, which is above standard, which proves I have an excellent command of the English language both orally and academically.

At the moment I provide a focus on the following:

English Language GCSE and TESOL.

For Language GCSE tuition I can successfully improve leaners` ability when writing to argue, persuade and describe. This will be done through effective planning, structuring, a variety of punctuation and vocabulary while building towards a climax and writing memorable conclusions. It is important to include the rule of three, alliteration, personification, appealing to the senses, rhetorical questions, emotive language, emotive anecdotes, a variety of sentence and paragraph lengths and so on. I also have an emphasis of going through past papers and teaching students how to successfully answer questions that require a focus on the writers` feelings and thoughts, comparing language features and identifying effective language etc.

I can also provide assistance with primary English and work on all aspects of the language.

In terms of TESOL, I have experience teaching English as a foreign language to people of all ages and will certainly be able to help in any area of the language you wish to focus on.

For non-native speakers of English studying in the UK, I can help with writing essays as I have a large degree of writing and proof reading experience, along with achieving good marks in all of my essays at university.

I am happy to help people learn English for what ever reason they are doing so. I can help with general English, professional English, GCSE English literature and A level English literature, preparation for IELTS, preparing for interviews, helping with CV's and cover letters, and also help learners studying at university. I can help those studying if English is their second language through improving grammar, reading and writing in a style that is suitable in the UK. I can also help native English speakers with essays on film studies and journalism.

Teaching Experience:

Writing skills - I have excellent writing skills and can help learners of English improve their writing in a variety of ways from cover letters, CV's, creative writing to academic essays and preparation for writing exams.

Pronunciation - I am a native English speaker born in London so I have an accent very close to the Queen's spoken English. I can successfully improve learners pronunciation of spoken English. I have knowledge of the phonemic scri pt and can help with individual word stress and sentence stress. For young speakers, I have experience of teaching phonics.

Professional English - I am able to teach English suitable for professional working environments

Reading - Reading for gist, scanning, reading for specific information, reading for detail and extended reading. Also helping young learners to improve their reading both native and non-native speakers.

Grammar - I enjoy helping learners improve their grammar and recognise the importance it holds. This is especially important to those learning English as a second language.

At the moment I am teaching Japanese students (mainly young learners) for a teaching company in London. I pride myself on maximising speaking and getting my students to speak as much as they possibly can.

I have taught in China both before and after university. While in China I have taught both young learners and adult learners in group classes and one-to-one tuition. With young learners the emphasis is on pronunciation and general English, whereas with the adult learners I have mostly taught English suitable for professional working environments.

I very much enjoyed teaching group classes and seeing so many different personalities in the room. I have been praised in both of the centres I have taught at for my ability to recognise every student's individual ability and tailored my teaching accordingly. I have improved students English a lot during these roles and it is very satisfying seeing progress being made.

On a one-to-one basis is when I have improved my students English the most though as it is just me and them. My focus is entirely on them and it is a much more individualistic and tailored approach to meet the clients needs. I have always had happy students who like both me as a person and my teaching. I have taught both young and adult learners on a one-to-one basis and always have made progress with my learners.

While in China I have taken on private jobs helping students with academic essays, both for BA and MA studies. I have helped these students achieve the grade they wanted and improved their writing skills.

Tutoring Approach:

I recognise everyone as a individual and thus have a individual approach. I am happy to teach both group classes and students on a one-to-one basis. Along with my qualifications, I have the right personality that a good tutor needs. I am helpful, friendly and patient and enjoy nothing more than watching my students progress with their English studies.

I am willing to travel but as my rates are very cheap, if travelling into London from St.Albans I would need to be paid the travel expense on top of my rate. I do have a young persons railcard which makes fares a lot cheaper and I am willing to come back at an off peak time which makes it even more cheaper for your convenience. Alternatively, students can always come to St.Albans where I am located and I am happy to host you at my home or meet at a location of your choice.

Personal Description:
I am a very keen and enthusiastic university graduate and love to help others learn. I specialize with children and young adults. I am a good role model as I am bubbly, show confidence and balance my career with my social life including my sports (rock climbing and snowboarding).

I have a range of experience in childcare and tuition and find different ways for my pupils to understand the materials they are learning. I find ways in which they can relate to the information which helps them retain the information for longer.
I have had several years of experience with private tutoring producing great results (please ask if you would like a reference).

Teaching Experience:

All throughout my University degree I was working part-time at Explore Learning, a Maths and English tuition center designed to help children with their national curriculum between the ages of 5 and 14. This has given me valuable experience on many different teaching techniques as well as keeping up to date with the new learning strategies that children are using in their day to day learning at school.
My one on one tutoring experience ranges from GCSE level to Primary Maths and English including other topics such as Current affairs.
On a sporting level, I gained my Canadian Association of Snowboard Instructors qualification in 2009 and have continued to teach snowboarding over in Italy with Interski in my university holidays.

Quote from a reference: 'Rabia will definitely miss your cheery and happy persona. She has had other tutors but with nowhere near the enthusiasm and effort that you put in! She looks forward to you coming and has a real connection with you.'

Tutoring Approach:

I have many different approaches to learning, dependant on the age of the pupil. I like to use targets and rewards to keep motivation levels high and learning is fun by relating the subject to my tutee's everyday life. I ensure there are several reviews and assessments to enhance progression and keep on track.

Personal Description:
I am a graduate in Politics, English and German with an International House qualification to teach English as a foreign language to adults.

Since 2001 I have been engaged on a university research and publishing project, based in London and Cambridge, that charts the reception of British and Irish authors in Europe, from Francis Bacon to James Joyce.

A significant part of my professional role involves editing and proof-reading academic texts, and I'm happy to undertake this for tutees.

I am also a freelance researcher, writer and curator of exhibitions on contemporary social and political cartoons, such as 'Coping with the Relations', commissioned by the Goethe-Institut and British Council as an international touring exhibition. Amongst other publications I co-authored the book *Deutschland und seine Nachbarn* in 2000 as a resource for political education in German schools.

I am an enthusiastic European with a keen interest in global affairs.

Teaching Experience:

I have been tutoring students in English, Politics and German for many years, as well as working as a business language trainer in companies across London.

Previously I taught English, German and Politics in England (GCSE and A-level), and English as a foreign language at all levels in grammar schools in Austria and Germany. I also taught English as a foreign language to trainee German teachers of English and for Academic & Special Purposes (law, business studies, social sciences) as well as British cultural studies at the University of Osnabruck, Germany, for 8 years.

Tutoring Approach:

I believe patience, appropriate pace and empathetic attention to an individual's learning needs are essential for anyone helping others to understand often complex ideas and concepts. I also believe successful learning results from both the learner's and teacher's motivation, enthusiasm and interest in the subject. These are principles that inform my role as a tutor.

I much prefer one-to-one or small-group tutoring, particularly where if a foreign language is involved. I believe the intensity of experience such interaction provides is the next best thing to direct engagement with a foreign language in the context in which it is naturally spoken. This is borne out by my own experience as a foreign-language learner.

Personal Description:
Warm greetings!

I am a multilingual, legal executive and researcher with a long-standing passion in teaching, lecturing and management. I have taught at all levels from primary to the university level.

My teaching experience extends over 20 years and is backed by professional qualifications in each field that I teach. I.e. Law, English and Arabic.

Teaching Experience:

I have taught both Arabic and English (native speaker) at various levels - up to university undergraduate level, at several London and UK-based schools as well as managing and directing an international language school in the Middle East.

I also tutor law, up to and including undergraduate level, this includes the foundation subjects: Equity and Trusts, Tort, European, Criminal, Public, Land and Contract.

Tutoring Approach:

I use a relaxed interactive, seminarial approach whenever practical. I am not, however, averse to IT based or traditional methods and welcome a diverse and results-oriented approach. My aim is to help you achieve your goals.

I recommend that you book for a one hour meeting / tutorial initially as further tuition can then be discussed.

If you are outside my locality and would like me to travel to you then we can discuss the fee and travel arrangements.

Personal Description:

Teaching Experience:

I have significant experience in teaching English literature, language, citizenship and sociology.
I have a Masters Degree from the Institute of Education for Inclusive Education and am currently researching for a PhD in the same field.
I am a qualified teacher having passed the Graduate Teacher Programme a number of years ago and have successfully completed the induction year.
I have taught in mainstream schools, special needs, Pupil Referral Units and privately.
I especially enjoying supporting people to learn English, teaching sociology and supporting children/adults with a range of learning and/or behavioural difficulties.

Tutoring Approach:

I support pupils/students in developing their skills in a given subject area.
I use a range of approaches but especially visual and kinaesethic approaches.

Personal Description:
I am a super-tutor, with a 1st Class Masters from Cambridge University. I am excellent with children and love to help others learn.

I went straight from university into drama school, and now work as a tutor and a professional actress. I have 4 years of tutoring experience and have helped children get into some of the best schools in the country, as well as aiding older children in getting the A*s they want at GCSE and A-level.

Teaching Experience:

My degree at Cambridge University was in Education studies with English and Drama. Although it was not a teacher training course, the Education Studies module of the degree involved learning an introduction to the philosophy, psychology, sociology and history of education. I was also, of course, able to benefit from the private seminar and tutorial system that Cambridge offers. As a result, I am fully aware of how beneficial a one-on-one teaching style can help to build confidence, and heighten learning and understanding.

I have now been tutoring ages 7-18 for 4 years, and have had brilliant feedback from my various jobs:

1. Lucy is an excellent enthusiastic tutor who does a great job keeping my son interested and engaged. I would highly recommend her. - Father of Zain (age 8)

2. I would really like to thank you for being such a great tutor. We appreciate the effort you put into preparing for the sessions with Ella and we have every confidence in your dedication and abilities. - Father of Ella (age 16)

3. Julian scored 97% UMS marks in English Language, which is within 2.1% of all the boys taking English this year. For English Literature his UMS score was 97% again, which is within 4% of all the boys this year! This brilliant result, we think, is largely thanks to your help. - Mother of Julian (age 16)

4. Our son absolutely loved Lucy. She worked so hard with him in the lead-up to his exams, and I don`t know what we would have done without her! - Mother of Christopher (age 11)

Tutoring Approach:

I am a confidence-buildling tutor.

My approach is generally fun. I am the tutor who is also the friend. I do not let a child get away with misbehaviour or laziness, but at the same time I am certainly not stern. My approach is without a doubt to help the child learn to love the subject and want improvement for themselves, not because I demand it of them.

Firstly, I will always aim to find the areas the child is having the most difficulty with and break it down to its simplest form to help them understand. Once a child has understood the basic principle of what we are learning, I aim to push them as far as I can with their learning - my memory of the best teacher's I had at school were the teacher's who pushed me even further than I needed to go, and who gave me more knowledge and information than I needed to know. I then found that I entered my exams relaxed and confident, knowing that I had excess knowledge. Rather than learning just to answer set questions in an exam, I felt I truly understood those subjects.

Of course, I would play everything by ear though, and I would not pile extra work or information on a child if they are still struggling. We will work at a pace that is comfortable but useful for them.

Personal Description:
I have completed an LLB Law degree and have furthered this by undertaking a Legal Practice Course. I am currently working as a legal representative. In the past I have really enjoy working with young people and I feel that tutoring is something that is underrated and hugely beneficial to them. Due to working with young people in sports I have a full enhanced CRB check.

Teaching Experience:

At university I obtained a position as a Peer Assisted Learning coordinator and leader, which involved taking on a group of first years once a week in order to go over their notes, help them learn to study, revision and essay structuring techniques. This allowed students to have a different kind of learning environment to that of formalised education in which they were comfortable with practising work and asking questions. I very much enjoyed this and believe that it was highly beneficial to the students that attended.

Working at a local football centre I have been involved in several sporting/coaching projects for young people. This has allowed me to develop different teaching strategies related to different environments; these involve quick thinking and problem solving both skills which I deem to be essential when tutoring.

I have close links to a local secondary school and therefore am able to have access to valuable resources which will aid tutoring sessions.

I offer tutoring in GCSE and KS3 English, GCSE & KS3 Maths, GCSE PE and GCSE and A-Level Law.

Tutoring Approach:

I believe that tutoring is a very important concept for some children. A lot of children benefit hugely from one to one information and reinforcement; and it may be a far more effective learning strategy for them. I think it is important to first gain an understanding of where a child's strengths and weaknesses lie, in order to focus on the areas which perhaps need improvement. I also value a child's input as they are good judges of what they feel they do well and what they may need help with. The tutoring sessions will move at a pace that the child is comfortable with, and help with homework and coursework will be available. For GCSE and A-Level tutoring if desired essay structuring and revision strategies can be discussed and learned, as these are often overlooked in schools.

I feel that tutoring outside of school may help improve a child's confidence within a school environment, be this in the work itself or in class discussions and for them as a person. It is not always easy for a child to speak up at school, and if they do not understand this may result in them falling behind. As a tutor I am able to reinforce school work at a pace more appropriate for the level of your child, and allow them to develop and learn in a way that is suitable and enjoyable for them.

Personal Description:
I'm in my early fifties, am married with four children, the youngest of whom is still at home. I have 30+ years experience of teaching all ages from pre-school (I used to child mind) to A level and FE students. I have taught children aged 4-14yrs in an Independent Christian School and I have English GCSE to adults. I help people who have particular difficulties and those who just lack confidence. I help people to see their very real strengths and to build on them, showing them techniques for learning and improving their writing style, comprehension skills and spoken English in a way that suits them as individuals. I always make sure that whether or not you want to pass exams, the English you use is fit for whatever need you have - so if you just need help in speaking to Doctors and nurses in hospital, I can help with that or if you want to start at Uni I can meet your study needs too at whatever level. I am extremely passionate about education and have a purposeful approach which takes account of students' individual learning styles. I am happy to travel to you at a cost of 40p per mile but if you prefer to come to me, that's fine too.

Teaching Experience:

I have taught in homes, Primary and Secondary Schools, Colleges and Community Centres. I have taught workshops on how to apply for a job as well as teaching English as a foreign language and even adults with learning disabilities. You can see from this that I am a teacher who loves teaching - education is my passion! I also love reading and researching so I can help people with dyslexia and other learning difficulties. I have been trained in this area and I have always taken opportunities to improve my teaching skills. My students are very proud of their achievements in exams etc but most of all they thank me for building their confidence and allowing them to work at a pace which suits them so that they really enjoy what they are learning. I have taught the Cambridge ESOL qualifications Using the CLT technique from the CELTA qualification which I gained last year) as well as GCSE English language and Literature. I have experience of teaching on the one to one tuition scheme in Primary schools as well as class teaching. My most recent experience is as Head of English in a school for children with moderate learning difficulties, especially autism aged 11yrs to adults.

Tutoring Approach:

I like to give personal attention to my tutees and to tailor the lessons to their needs but am happy to teach up to 3 people together to reduce costs if that helps. We work on Language skills such as pronunciation, vocabulary and grammar in ESOL lessons with plenty of practice for tests if needed and when studying literature at a higher level, I encourage my tutees to relate what they are reading to current issues and events in the world so that it is relevant and interesting for them. We have lots of fun but at the same time we work intensively, reading aloud to proof read and learning strategies for spelling, punctuation and organising essays etc. It is a great way to prepare for further academic study and I can help to prepare students for interviews or to give that all important presentation which could lead to promotion. We offer Home Stay at our home which is a riverside Victorian Railway station in the heart of particularly attractive countryside with visits to sites of Historical interest, practice with English speaking in our family from 350.00 /week negotiable according to visits selected.

Personal Description:
I am a teacher with over thirty years' classroom experience in both Primary and Secondary schools. I have taught in UK state schools as well as overseas.

Throughout my years in schools both home and abroad I have tutored Primary, Secondary and Adult students as a vocation as well as to supplement my income.

Teaching Experience:

My experience includes 12 years teaching English and History to GCSE and A level in the UK secondary system and eight years teaching the same subjects to the same levels in international schools in Italy, Egypt and Kenya.

During this time I have always had a number of students on my books for home tuition to provide extra help in Primary, Secondary and University level subjects.

Tutoring Approach:

In my long experience of tutoring I have seen the benefits in aptitude and confidence that pupils can gain from one-to-one tuition. In the unique one-to-one situation the teacher can inspire pupils to begin at last to see the relevance of subjects they find difficult to grasp in a high-pressure environment like school.

Once the pupil sees the need to master the subject I take them on to the next stage where they can undertake tasks which build up their confidence. It is also a means for me to ascertain what the pupil's strengths are and to build on them.

The next stage is the slightly more painful one of identifying weaknesses and gauging the pupil's awareness of them and motivation to put them right. Once the student and I have agreed which areas need improvement we use lesson time to extend competence and skills by undertaking thinking and written assignments that allow the student to develop these.

Any homework set will advance and reinforce the skills the pupil has been encouraged to bring to the lesson.

Personal Description:
A highly energetic and enthusiastic individual, specializing in teaching Biology,Chemistry,Physics, Mathematics and IELTs.I am a friendly person and a professional tutor. By qualification, I am a Doctor of Pharmacy and also hold an M Phil degree in Pharmaceutics. i have also got an overall score of 8 bands in IELTs which demonstrates my strong communication skills. My tutoring experience has made me patient and analytical, so, I always adapt the most suitable teaching approach which is individualized based on a student`s personality, mental caliber and his attitude towards learning. In addition to this, I have myself got distinctions throughout my academic career.

What makes me passionate about teaching is the fact that I have always been rejoiced by the thought of making a positive contribution to other people`s lives, and teaching young students, by far, is the most effective way of doing so. I am deeply inspired by my primary school math teacher whose incredible teaching skills transformed me into a bright and hardworking student from a very mediocre and average one. It was the time when I realized that incorporating social skills successfully into the routine methods of teaching can make learning far more interesting and easy.

I customize my teaching style according to the learning needs and mental caliber of the student. Generally, I start a new lesson by giving the student a detailed concept of the scientific topic. Later on, I elaborate the general and specific details of the topic with the help of examples. Afterwards, I put forth similar problems in front of the student to solve by himself, in order to assess his understanding of the topic. I also share with my students all the possible questions and different forms of a question that they might come across in the examination out of a selected topic. Moreover, I also give them examination techniques to solve such problems effectively.

Teaching Experience:

9 years of teaching experience of science subjects(Physics, Chemistry, Biology), English and Math to the students of KS2, KS3, GCSE and A levels.I started my teaching career in 2004 with A-Level and GCSE teaching. In 2008, when I completed my Pharmacy Degree, I joined professional bodies as a teacher. I have also been tutoring IELTs for the last two years.

Tutoring Approach:

I customize my teaching to learning needs and mental caliber of student. Generally, I start a new lesson by giving the student a detailed concept about the scientific topic. I'm a young teacher, but I have five years teaching experience to my name. I love to travel and I love the theatre.

Teaching Experience:

I am an English teacher with five years experience. I love Shakespeare and I know far too many useless facts about his plays. I have taught the new iGCSE this year and I think that it is a great way to get that all important C grade for many students.

Tutoring Approach:

I have a lot of experience with teaching 121, I think that it is important to be relaxed and enjoy learning. A lot of the time confidence is half of the problem.

Raheil, 23, Law and English Literature Graduate.

I have a passion for English and have always demonstrated a keen interest in using language as more than a mere means of communication of the mundane. It should be enjoyed and celebrated for the art that it is.

Teaching Experience:

Undergraduate Law LLB Tutorial participation.

GOALS Top Up University of Glasgow Employee.

Achieved 9 highers and one advanced higher.

TEFL training completed.

Tutoring Approach:

Tutoring is extremely rewarding and satisfying for me. I feel I learn best when conversing about a subject and having someone to guide me through the different aspects of each element, as opposed to being left to my own devices. As such I know the value a tutor can provide in helping a student fully understand and learn whatever their given subject is.

Personal Description:
My name is Dan I am 27 year old male teacher. I am originally from Liverpool but moved to London to study for my Primary PGCE a little under 4 years ago. I am a sports fanatic and am always active and spend as much time outdoors as possible. When not taking part in sport I am working in a KS1 class in East Dulwich and thoroughly enjoy my time in school!

Teaching Experience:

I have been working in schools for the previous 6 years in various capacities ranging from being a teaching assistant, studying for my PGCE and also being a full time teacher.
My time working as a TA both in Birmingham and Liverpool enabled me to gain invaluable experience working with small groups of children teaching 'booster' groups to get children back to their nationally expected levels. This was a challenging yet rewarding experience as I was introduced to different approaches and methods so I can judge which approach will benefit each child I work with this included teaching a group of boys in years 1 and 2 to read.
During my teaching practice I worked in 2 schools in Peckham and also an autistic school in Tooting. Since qualifying I have worked as a year 5 teacher in Slough which was an extremely challenging experience with some difficult young boys who all responded to my teaching approach and I was able to build up a professional rapport, something that these boys had previously not had with other teachers. Since leaving there I have been working in a year 4 and 5 classes in Wanstead. This has been an enjoyable experience with a class with a wide range of abilities so has really stretched my teaching ability. Whilst here I have been working as a class teacher but also taking small groups of children and identified their weaknesses and work on them together which has had extremely successful results.
In my present school I am subject to regular teaching observations across Maths, English and Reading, where I am regularly graded good or outstanding, this coupled with a recent 'good' grading from Ofsted show that I have a broad subject knowledge range and provide engaging and motivational lessons. Having recently moved schools I have been promoted to Maths Curriculum leader and have an extensive knowledge of Maths across KS1 and KS2.

Tutoring Approach:

Since moving to London I have dealt with some extremely challenging behaviour from children based in Peckham, Slough and Wanstead. Through my time based in these schools I have built an extremely successful rapport with all children in class especially with young boys. I feel I am able to do this as I have a laid back demeanour that children don't feel threatened by but I demand instant respect and lay out my expectations of behaviour and attitude from the child from the start.
My approach to tutoring is mainly child led as I believe that a child learns best when they make discoveries of their own. I try to keep the actual teaching and talk to a minimum but will direct a child's thinking with some prompting and questioning if they are close to a break through. My main aim when teaching/tutoring is to promote confidence in a child's ability. All children have the capacity to learn some have mental blocks caused by lack of self esteem I aim to tackle this whilst showing the child easy steps and tips to complete tasks.
I feel I am an intuitive tutor who excels at finding unique and approachable ways to understand the student's needs and tailor the sessions to them specifically. As a classroom teacher at a diverse array of schools I gained substantial experience in educating children from a variety of backgrounds, and I believe I incorporate this experience when teaching individuals as well.

My availability:
20th December until 19th January
8th April until 30th April

Tutoring Approach:

In general students come up to me with a list of questions that they might be struggling with and we'd work through them together providing a step to step method as to how to approach and solve the problems. In addition if a student is completely stuck on a topic then I am also willing to explain it from the basics and build on their understanding. :)

Teaching Experience:

I have helped to tutor friends for their GCSE, A Level and Undergraduate degree exams by making fun and interactive games that are more useful when revising. I have also tutored students in GCSE English AQA to help prepare them for their exams.

I volunteered at my local library and worked with young children during arts and crafts' sessions to motivate them into reading.

Tutoring Approach:

Every student is an individual and learns in a different way. I like to work with the student to identify any blocks that are holding them back; we gain enormous satisfaction from us moving past these together.
I help students develop their confidence in their own abilities through achievement, and I find that this confidence helps them do better than they ever thought they would. The relationship between tutee and tutor is important and I find building trust is essential for success.
