Personal Description:
I am 23 years old and I am in my final year at The University of Manchester where I am studying French and Italian. I have spent 6 months in Bologna in Italy, working in a private language school for those wished to learn either Italian or English. I worked as a copywriter for the school website, working in French, Italian and English. I also worked as a conversation tutor to those who wanted to learn English. I am now waiting on my results for a recognised qualification, a C1 CILS exam. In the same year, I lived in Paris for four months where I worked at ELLE, the well known women's fashion magazine, where I used solely French. I am very down to earth and my biggest passion is football, I enjoy a good movie and love a good comedy. If you feel more comfortable meeting in a neutral place, a coffee place or in the town centre that is fine by me. It is flexible. A clean criminal record and can boast a detention-less education!

Teaching Experience:

I now have teaching experience and I have shadowed those who have done this for a job. I have worked voluntarily in a school teaching beginner's Italian. Having already worked as a conversation tutor in a private school, I feel I would excel in giving private lessons, given the chance.

Tutoring Approach:

My ability to equip a student for studying comes from my longstanding experience as a student myself. Therefore, I am more than qualified to support such students both virtually and face to face. I currently mentor a Speech therapy student via Skype.

Tutoring Approach:

My approach is person centred, giving the student some control of what activities they do. Lessons are designed around the individual's motivators, and so time is spent identifying these. My approach is about empowering the student and helping them to recognise that literacy and communication is FUN!

I work collaboratively with parents/carers and professionals involved with the child. If I'm working with adults, I will set a block of therapy or a teaching programme with the student so that goals are individual to you and your needs.

I believe language is 24/7 and so learning a language or therapy is not just achieved through the teacher/therapist but also with every other person that you come into contact with. Therefore, it is vital to practise language when I am not there.

I am a recent graduate of Creative Writing from the University of Manchester, where I studied both Creative Writing, and English language and literature. We covered basic conversation, grammar and writing skills, and by the end of the course my students were able to hold basic conversations and use key vocabulary and phrases confidently.

More recently I have been tutoring Spanish at beginner level to adults in Birmingham. I have devised a simple curriculum that can be taught in one hour or two hour sessions, with my tutees picking up the language and grammar quickly.

My name is Barney, I'm 21 years old and an undergraduate history student at King's College London. I live a diverse lifestyle; despite the fact I am diligent and aim to excel in my studies, I also fulfill my time on the sports field, within the theater and in all aspects of life to the full. For example, I am the captain of the King's College London Rugby 1st XV, a position which necessitates not only ability but also a great deal of responsibility. Teaching Experience:

Within my role as Deputy Head Boy at my secondary school (Truro School, TR1 1TH), I was required not only to fulfill supervisory but also educational roles. This meant aiding the teachers, sometimes by assisting individuals who required extra help.

In the Spring of 2012 I spent two months working among orphanages in a deprived part of Buenos Aires known as the Hidden City, with a volunteer group named L.I.F.E - (Luchemos para una Infancia Feliz y con Esperanza: We Strive for a Childhood with Happiness and Hope.) I was working with children between the ages of 5 and 12 more or less. Although they had very little educational background, it was our duty to impart what we could upon them; it required immense diligence and effort considering many of the children were unwilling to listen, let alone learn. However, this difficult but extremely rewarding opportunity provided me with teaching skills that cannot be underestimated. Namely, the ability to form a positive relationship with the child so as to ensure the best can be achieved.

Tutoring Approach:

As alluded to in the previous section, my approach to tutoring requires the formation of a positive relationship between tutor and tutored. I believe it is essential that there is rapport between both parties, in order to ensure that the tutored performs to their capability. As is nature, people are more willing to learn for those who they respect and like - precisely the opposite occurs if someone dreads tutoring. Educationally speaking, my approach is well structured, but varies greatly depending on the age. Regardless, it will always be in accordance with set examination boards and/or specific entrance exams. My exact approach is more easily demonstrated via e-mail once I know the specifics, and consequently can tailor accordingly.
