Personal Description:
I am 23 years old and I am in my final year at The University of Manchester where I am studying French and Italian. I have spent 6 months in Bologna in Italy, working in a private language school for those wished to learn either Italian or English. I worked as a copywriter for the school website, working in French, Italian and English. I also worked as a conversation tutor to those who wanted to learn English. I am now waiting on my results for a recognised qualification, a C1 CILS exam. In the same year, I lived in Paris for four months where I worked at ELLE, the well known women's fashion magazine, where I used solely French. I am very down to earth and my biggest passion is football, I enjoy a good movie and love a good comedy. If you feel more comfortable meeting in a neutral place, a coffee place or in the town centre that is fine by me. It is flexible. A clean criminal record and can boast a detention-less education!

Teaching Experience:

I now have teaching experience and I have shadowed those who have done this for a job. I have worked voluntarily in a school teaching beginner's Italian. Having already worked as a conversation tutor in a private school, I feel I would excel in giving private lessons, given the chance.

Tutoring Approach:

I feel every student works at their own pace, however it would not take me long to work out an approach which would realise the full potential of the tutee. I am patient and I can sympathise that learning a new language or topic can be frustrating.

(Travel costs may need to be reimbursed depending on distance.)

Teaching Experience:

I have a lot of experience teaching younger children at after-school and holiday clubs, youth groups, school cricket coaching, tutoring and mentoring of underprivileged children, teaching of First Aid at schools as a Red Cross volunteer and being involved in the Alex Curtis Memorial Trust to educate children in schools by giving presentations on the management of asthma and other allergic conditions. As a result, I have had several comprehensive CRB checks and have been tutoring for a long period of time. Tutoring for several years, I have fully grasped all the tips and tricks surrounding the key to great grades, and have helped many students achieve top marks.

I also have a younger sister in primary school whose education I am actively involved in.

Tutoring Approach:

I believe that it is paramount for a student, not just to absorb information and facts, but to be able to put these concepts into practice through their full understanding. As a medical student, I know that rote learning is not the key to success - it is the ability to use your knowledge to answer diverse and probing questions that may initially seem outside your comfort zone.

I, therefore, construct a simple but effective study programme, incorporating the student's aims, in order to develop their strengths and remove any weaknesses. Due to my impeccable organisation, a structured plan is produced to maximise the student's chances of success and help them to achieve the grades they deserve.

Exam technique is also an extremely important factor for students to understand and, as a result, incorporated within all lessons are methods to succeed in this vital area - a concept I have fully grasped, as my grades suggest.
Please do not hesitate to contact me and we can arrange an introductory lesson free of charge.

Many Thanks,
Azeem

Personal Description:
I am a young actor living in London. I also write and direct poetry, plays and films. As my father was a Diplomat I spent much of my early life abroad: in Cuba, Hungary and the United States.

After studying Maths, English and Russian at Eton College I spent a year studying acting in New York and cooking in an English restaurant, then studied English and Drama at Bristol and have just finished a BA in Acting at LAMDA. When I'm not writing or in the theatre I'm in the kitchen experimenting.

Teaching Experience:

I have tutored several students over the past two years in London. I have helped with English A-Level papers for a boy who got an A grade and will start at Bristol this autumn. I also taught essay-writing and exam technique to a girl who will be starting medicine at Cambridge this autumn.

I also have a lot of experience with learning difficulties as I have helped my younger brother all his studying life through his asperger's and dyslexia.

Tutoring Approach:

My inspiration to work in the arts always came from the books, films, artists and languages I studied at school and at university so I have a great amount of passion and interest in what I teach.

I believe this is very much the most important lesson for any new student to learn: a personal enjoyment and motivation for the subject. Exams are everywhere these days but it is important to remember that an exam is only a method for determining how much you know and if you can find yourself genuinely excited and eager to discuss what you know you are half-way to passing that exam.

Personal Description:
I am a 26 year old enthusiastic teacher of English. I love my job and enjoy building positive working relationships with young people. My hobbies include theatre, cinema and travel.

Teaching Experience:

I graduated from Girton College, University of Cambridge with a 2.i in English (2008).

My career developed from a supply teacher to a Teaching Assistant and then to a fully qualified Teacher of English. I gained Qualified Teacher Status in 2010 and was rated "Outstanding."

I am a staff Governor because I am dedicated to it and I love being fully involved in the school's development. In June 2012 I was promoted to the role of Literacy Coordinator, further illustrating my achievements within my career.

I currently teach English for Years 7-11 and A-Level Media Studies in a large non-selective secondary school. I trained on the Graduate Teaching Programme so I taught lessons from day one as a trainee. I teach a wide range of abilities, from SEN to Gifted and Talented. All my lesson observations are always graded as "Good" or "Outstanding."

I teach GCSE classes to the AQA syllabus.

Tutoring Approach:

I believe that the 1:1 nature of tutoring can encourage pupils to flourish and build on their skills and confidence.

My approach is very focused to the exam through targeting the assessment objectives and grade criteria. All work is focused to the standards expected of the exam board. I use a range of activities for all types of learner (visual, audio, kinaesthetic) to promote engagement (and enjoyment!) of the subject.

I enjoy making my own bespoke resources for my classes and this applies to tutees as well. This way work is constantly tailored to individual needs and preferred learning styles.

As I don't drive I would prefer tutees to come to me. Rates negotiable in this instance.

Personal Description:
I am a native English speaker and have been studying languages for 20 years. I have travelled to many countries and experienced many cultures. I know speaking a language fluently is so important to enjoy new experiences. I have a Degree in Linguistics and have been trained in Teaching English as a Foreign Language (TEFL/TESOL). I have a variety of experiences in teaching, training and tutoring. Although I am originally from Australia I am now based in London. I have spent time learning Russian, Spanish and German, so I know how useful it is to have someone helping continuing to build vocabulary and correct language use. I also know how hard it can be to get started learning a new language. I will be sure to find out what you want to learn and how you enjoy learning the most.

Teaching Experience:

I have a Degree in Applied Linguistics and have been trained in Teaching English as a Foreign Language (TEFL/TESOL). I have a variety of experiences in teaching, training and tutoring in the workplace, in group and one-to-one sessions with both adults and children. Although I am originally from Australia I am now based in London. I have spent time learning Russian, Spanish and German, so I know how useful it is to have someone helping continuing to build vocabulary and correct language use. I also know how hard it can be to get started learning a new language.

Tutoring Approach:

My initial focus will be to spend time finding out what you want to learn and how you enjoy learning the most. My focus will be what you identify as needing help with, as well as giving feedback on how your language skills are progressing. I am most happy providing conversational English practice so that you can improve your skills in interacting with others, either at work, or study or even just travelling with greater ease. I am happy to provide exercises and tasks for you to work on as well as English conversation.
I am happy to meet you wherever is convenient - perhaps a local cafe or library. I can also tutor in my home or yours if that is easier. I am happy to tutor via Skype following a first meeting if travel is an issue.

Personal Description:
I am an English and Spanish Postgraduate Student with a Master's degree in Spanish and Teaching Foreign Languages. I am a Spanish native speaker but I was raised bilingually between Spain and the UK. I really enjoy teaching Spanish and English, since they are both part of my background.

Teaching Experience:

I have taught Spanish and English privately for 5 years. This private tuition consisted in one-to-one or small group classes. I also taught Spanish at West Virginia University (USA) for two academic years and English at a Language School in Spain for two years. In these contexts, classes were bigger, from 5 to 25 students per class. I currently teach Spanish Language and Literature at University of London.

Tutoring Approach:

I always try to adapt my teaching method to the student's preferences and learning style, but I think it is very important to promote communication in the target language as much as possible during the lesson. This makes students more confident and also facilitates language acquisition greatly. It is also essential to make the lesson as entertaining and dynamic as possible, because if the student is enjoying the lesson, they will learn more easily and quickly.

Personal Description:
I have recently submitted my doctoral thesis in contemporary literature and am awaiting my verbal examination and, eventually, accreditation with doctoral status. In the meantime, I am returning to tutoring, a job I have enjoyed in the past. I am passionate about English literature and love to teach.

Teaching Experience:

I have a great deal of childminding experience and regularly help three girls--aged 7, 10 and 12-- with a range of homework tasks and creative learning games.

I have experience of tutoring English to children aged 14-18 in preparation for English Language and English Literature exams. I also teach general essay writing and exam technique in humanities subjects and can advise students on interview technique and writing their personal statements for university applications.

I have taught adult learners at university level in a seminar setting as well as one-to-one tuition. My one-to-one tuition work was on essay technique and English grammar for an ESL learner.

I have experience teaching children with learning difficulties, visually impaired adults and ESL learners.

I have also taught English Literature to seniors.

Tutoring Approach:

I prefer a friendly and creative approach to learning and enjoy finding unusual approaches to suit different sorts of learners. I design my own illustrated hand outs and make use of music and media to help learners to make sense of a text. I have extensive experience of working with children from infants to teenagers, but am more used to teaching older children and adults.

A recent report on my teaching made the following comments:
'This was a great seminar. You were clearly well prepared and had planned the session in a way that allowed time for a detailed discussion. Crucially, the session was geared toward enabling students to apply their newfound knowledge to a reading of literature. Your selection of textual examples was appropriate, and the music added a lighter note to the final part of the class. I was particularly impressed by your friendly, engaging and encouraging manner, which helped to create a classroom atmosphere that allowed students to share and explore their ideas, and to seek clarification where necessary. You deal really well with students who express uncertainties about their knowledge. Overall this was a highly successful and enjoyable seminar'.

Personal Description:
I am a recent graduate of Durham (BA History), and UCL (MA Central and South Eastern European Studies). I spent the last three academic years studying and tutoring.

My main areas of interest are humanities and languages and I am an enthusiastic and passionate communicator. I currently hold a CRB certificate. I offer History to A level and below, English Literature to A-Level and below and Ancient Greek to A-Level and below.

Teaching Experience:

I am a very experienced tutor, having spent the past two academic years tutoring a range of subjects, and have a passion for teaching and communication. Having been a part time participant of mainstream education until recently, and having tutored four different pupils at different levels in different subjects in that time, I have a clear understanding of the structure of current A-Level courses and the necessary requirements. All my previous pupils unanimously achieved high grades.

Tutoring Approach:

I tailor my tutoring approach to the tutee's needs and the subject being taught. Generally, I do a combination of exam technique, subject revision and coursework support. I have made many an amusing yet educational quiz and encourage pupils as much as possible for them to achieve the best grade possible.

Personal Description:
Hi there, my name is Kirsty and I am a first year BA (Hons) English student at the University of Chichester.

English has been my favourite subject ever since primary school, and after my graduation I am planning on completing a PGCE in Education in order to teach at secondary level. For this reason, tutoring would be both a rewarding and valuable experience for me in terms of enhancing my application.

Teaching Experience:

I enjoy working with children and young adults, and have been volunteering with a local Guide group for the past year. This semester I have also ran a small 'Introduction to Grammar' session for those on my course with no previous experience of A Level English Language. I am proud to say that all my 'students' passed their exam that term with flying colours!

Tutoring Approach:

Approaching complex ideas in fun, kinesthic and memorable ways: emphasis on placing ideas within a context the pupils can relate to in order to visualise examples in the world around them. Use of PowerPoint presentations, flash cards, mind maps, audio and visual aids, look/cover/write/check activities, for instance. Developing a close rapport with the pupils through showing an interest in the pupil's own opinion of the subjects covered; exploring their concerns and difficulties so that problems can be solved quickly before motivation drops.

Personal Description:
Hello there! Firstly, thank you for checking out my profile. I am currently a teaching assistant at a primary school. I have a BA (Hons) in Egyptology and Ancient History and I am undertaking my MA in Egyptian Archaeology at UCL in September 2014. I offer a range of tutoring sessions from primary age up to University dependent on subject. I am friendly, personable and hard working. I am a great motivator!

Teaching Experience:

I have worked at a school for over three years and during this time have covered classes a lot for teacher absence and PPA time. I have also been seen by an Ofsted inspector teaching a whole class maths session, despite not being a teacher, and was graded as outstanding and it was recommended I pursue my teaching. I plan on becoming a University lecturer, pursuing my PhD upon completion of my masters. I value education and academia and I feel this is a really important factor I enthusiastically pass on to my pupils. I have planned and led one to one interventions and group work and have always seen a vast improvement in attainment levels. Mostly, I am patient and understanding.

Tutoring Approach:

Hands on learning, a fun approach with all the necessary fine tuning and eye for detail that we need. While I am tutoring we are a team that can tackle problems together!

Personal Description:
I am a final year Classical & Archaeological Studies student at the University of Kent, having achieved a first class grade in second year, and a 3.8 GPA on my Year Abroad this year in Canada. During my degree I have taken modules related to Ancient History, Literature and Languages, and in continuation of my English Literature A-Level some modules from the schools of English and Comparative Literature. I therefore have a well-rounded knowledge of Humanities subjects and am particularly confident with writing essays and delivering presentations, aspects of related subjects which I would be comfortable with tutoring.

During the holidays I live in North Norfolk and would be happy to take on tutoring roles during this time.

As I will be in my final year of university I will be able to be flexible with a tutoring schedule, and would be happy to take on more hours for example during exam times.

Teaching Experience:

I do not have specific teaching experience, however I regularly assist my peers with work and am confident in my ability to communicate with younger students in order to help and motivate them.

Tutoring Approach:

I will take a tutoring approach based on the Tutee's needs, focussing on areas that they may feel unconfident or unsure in with an aim to helping them.
