I aim to inspire confidence in my pupils and promote enthusiasm for learning in a supportive environment.

Tutoring Approach:

I am supportive and caring and I encourage pupils to take responsibility for their own learning. I aim to inspire confidence by teaching them essential study skills and exam techniques. I teach pupils to break down learning into manageable chunks and teach them to analyse and revise their work. I make my lessons interesting and I am warm and friendly which puts pupils at ease. I also have a good sense of humour and aim to build up a strong rapport with pupils. I ask pupils to contact me between sessions if there are any concerns and I fully update parents on their child's progress.

Personal Description:
Hi,

I'm a Cambridge graduate and an experienced private tutor. I give students the confidence to excel at exams, produce excellent essays, and make original arguments by teaching them to join the dots, dig deeper, and get curious about the big ideas.

I make learning relevant and engaging, always exploring the implications of the course in the context of today's world. I understand the pressures my students are facing and what it takes to stand out in this competitive academic environment, and all my lessons are designed to help students get away from prescriptive rote-learning, and instead develop rigorous analytical skills and independent perspectives.

I bring an unusual blend of academic and commercial experience; my parallel career as a writer and brand consultant for the last four years means I am able to draw links between academia and real-world insights, creating a fresh approach which is often very valuable for students looking for a more unusual route into learning.

As a trained interviewer for Oxbridge interviews, I can also offer students extremely rigorous Oxbridge interview preparation.

Teaching Experience:

I've been tutoring since secondary school, when my peers would come to me for help with their work and for accessible explanations of the more complex ideas we were looking at. I've tutored students of all ages, requirements and capabilities. In the last four years I've gained over 1,500 hours of tutoring experience. I'm now tutoring full time.

I am particularly experienced in:

- Students competing for an Oxbridge offer.
- Students who need that special something to stand out at interview.
- Students struggling with severe self-esteem and confidence issues.
- Students who struggle to get their ideas down on paper and need some fail-safe techniques for constructing essays and arguments under pressure.

I have experience with learning difficulties, especially dyslexia, which I have helped my brother to cope with through his studies for the last few years. To me, it just means having to find another way to approach the information and make it accessible.

Though I'm not formally qualified as TEFL teacher, I've had several foreign students who needed to learn both formal and conversational English from a very basic level of understanding.

I also teach many Law, Business, Sociology, Psychology, and Education Studies students at Undergraduate level, and I frequently work with professionals who have writing requirements, including Social Workers, Lawyers, PR and Marketing professionals and Psychologists.

A couple of recent students include:
Imogen, 22: 3rd year English student at Edinburgh university. We've been working together for the last two years to help her overcome her panic attacks/anxiety over exams, and rebuild her confidence by improving her critical reading and essay technique, and reconnect her with her love of literature. After working together for 12 months, she was able to sit her 2nd year exams and is now completing her final year.

'Bex is a very talented teacher - kind, understanding, highly skilled with supportive structured learning. My panic attacks/anxiety meant I was failing my degree and unable to sit exams, struggling to talk in tutorials & develop analytical skills. Now I can enjoy studying & I was able to sit my exams. Bex is equally excellent at the broader themes & the close technical analysis of your writing, critiquing your work line by line, which I've never benefited from before.
I strongly recommend her.'
- Imogen, 22

Helen, 18: Helen needed to raise her English A-Level grade from a predicted C to an A to fulfil her dream of studying at Oxford. She was sitting the challenging Cambridge English paper, which requires a much more rigorous style of working; we worked together intensively to develop her coursework, dramatically strengthen her writing skills, and study her texts from interesting new perspectives to create strong and original arguments. After our work together, she achieved an A and won her place at Oxford.

'With English, it's easy to feel lost without focused attention on your essay technique. With Bex, it was so easy to see where I was going wrong. We read through set texts and 'unseens' together in depth, and discussed their history/context to improve my understanding. Our discussions helped me re-focus my thoughts so I could easily organise complex ideas and form new ones.'
- Helen, 17

Tutoring Approach:

My approach to tutoring is based on two things: helping students cut to the heart of complex arguments and make them their own - and rediscovering the pleasure of learning.

I believe that everyone can understand an idea once it's made accessible to them - there's always a way, you've just got to find out what's right for each student. I always spend time to getting to know my students and understanding what makes them tick so we can work in the best possible way for them. The best results come when good exam technique is combined with a thorough understanding of the subject - I make sure that we spend time on both. Most of the time students have never had intensive help with their essay technique; I go through essays with students line by line so that they have absolute clarity on how they can improve. Variety is important - discussion is a great way to understand themes and build their arguments - it's about getting students interested in what they're studying again by putting them back in touch with the bigger picture - why it's important, what's fascinating about it, how it's still relevant today -, and then giving them the tools and the confidence to build strong answers, underpinned by writing exercises, essay/planning practice, and more visual aids like mind-mapping. Together, all these things should create a solid base of knowledge, good results and confident students.

I offer face to face tutoring, language skills, Skype sessions, and editing/help with any essay or piece of extended written work, either face to face or via email.

Personal Description:
I am a qualified English teacher with a PhD in English Literature from Durham University and an MA degree in English Philology from the Jagiellonian University of Krakow. English has always fascinated me and imparting my knowledge to others has been a pleasure and a reward. I am interested in Modernist as well as contemporary literature as much as in British culture and geography. I wish to share my passion with my students in order to help them realize that learning a language is not only useful but great fun if taught and approached in the right way.

Teaching Experience:

My English teaching experience covers working for Studio Cambridge, EAC and Anglophiles Academic at their summer camps for students of various nationalities in such locations as Cambridge, York, Bath, Bishop's Stortford and Skegness. I have also taught at three language schools in Poland and completed teaching practice in three Polish secondary schools. What is more, I have been teaching English on a one-to-one basis for the past ten years to students of all ages and various nationalities (including French, Italian, German, Korean and Polish). I have prepared four students for their A-level examinations, which they passed with flying colours. I have also taught English to children and adults of all levels and with various difficulties (e.g. dyslexia). I am currently a part-time tutor in English Literature at Durham University. I have also taught Polish successfully on a one-to-one basis for four years.

Tutoring Approach:

I believe learning is all about attitude and motivation. Language can be taught in a variety of ways, but the key is to choose the method that is most fruitful in an individual case. Forcing a language in is ineffective and unprofessional. The focus should be on practice rather than theory, though both are necessary for the student to develop their language skills. Theory must always be supported with lots and lots of practice - be it grammar and vocabulary exercises, games, films, music, television or newspaper articles - anything that will keep the student in touch with the language system. In short, the key to success is the student's positive attitude and interest in the subject (both of which the teacher can help develop) and the continuity of exposure to a given language, which the teacher should provide, plus the practice of grammar and vocabulary.

Personal Description:
I am married with four sons and live in Taunton, Somerset. I am interested in gardening, growing vegetables and flowers. I belong to the National Trust and to a town exchange with Lisieux, Normandy. I walk and cycle regularly. I am interested in cooking and reading. We have students who stay with us during the year; they are unable to go home for the weekend or half term because they live in places such as China, Japan or Russia.

Teaching Experience:

I have had many years of experience in primary schools teaching subjects as required, at both KS1 and KS2 and have a particular interest in English, Reading, Mathematics and History. I taught children on Home Tuition from 8 to 16 years; these children were not able to attend school for various reasons, such as health or behaviour. I taught subjects as required, which included Mathematics, English, Science, History, Geography and PSHE. I also taught for four years in a special school teaching EBD students from 8 to 16 years; this included teaching English, History, PSHE, Maths and Science to GCSE; in this post I took responsibility in the headteacher's absence. I have taught students English as a Foreign Language in my home since 1996; these have included children and adults and have had different levels of competence in English including beginner. I have also taught pupils studying for entrance exams.

Tutoring Approach:

I have had many years of experience and teach sympathetically; I am very patient. I have a variety of materials for the different subjects and make them as interesting as possible. I adapt my teaching to the individual's needs, whether advanced or those who find it more difficult to learn. I have had much experience of teaching Reading, Handwriting and Spelling and also for entrance exams. Frequently I use a multi-sensory approach and educational games. If it is suitable, I give homework. I can teach two students together if they are learning the same subject. I am very flexible. I teach in a quiet room and the parents are welcome to stay (normally in a room close by).

Personal Description:
I have tutored Maths, English and Special Needs now for five years, building up a rapport with each individual and their family to ensure best results. My tutoring experience spans from children aged 4 years to adults aged 44 years, with varying degrees of motivation, interest and abilities.

Due to my high interest in supporting others, I chose a career path as a Speech and Language Therapist, and I qualified in this esteemed profession 4 years ago. On a daily basis I work with children from pre-school age right up to young adults, in a range of settings from special needs schools and mainstream schools, to community clinics and home visits. I am highly passionate about helping all I support to work together to reach their potential.

I am a genuinely caring and generous person and I am more than capable of sharing my passion for Maths and English to anyone I work with, including those with additional needs.

Teaching Experience:

Through my job as a Speech and Language Therapist I work with children of all cognitive abilities on a one-to-one level to improve their communication and language skills. The work I do coincides with the National Curriculum and the Early Years Foundation Stage, and I work with parents and teachers to set individualised targets, which is similar to the tutoring world.

Prior to commencing my current job I worked as a special needs assistant at a primary school. On a daily basis I was required to give additional support on a one-to-one basis to children who struggled in the (often) large classroom, by working through the literacy or numeracy curriculum at their own pace. I was also relied upon to support in assigned classrooms through supervising children while working on a task or taking groups of children for reading. Working in a school ensured that I keep current my knowledge of Educational and National Curriculum issues.

From June-August 2011, I travelled to Pennsylvania, USA, to work as a Speech and Language Therapist at a summer camp for children with special needs (age range 7-20). I was recommended for this job due to my extensive experience and my friendly positive nature. The experience of living and working with children and teens with individual needs and accompanying challenging behaviours highlighted the importance of taking a flexible holistic approach when assessing skills, implementing support and evaluating improvements.

In June 2009, I participated in the Student Associate Scheme organised by the University of Manchester. This involved intensive teacher training and then carrying out a block placement of three weeks within two schools teaching and assisting in core subjects e.g. Mathematics and English. I worked with two children in particular who struggled in these subjects and I helped improve their numeracy and literacy skills by adapting their learning technique to suit their individual needs.

Tutoring Approach:

For five years I have tutored Maths, English and Special Needs in three areas of the UK, including two major cities. I have assisted students of varying ages, abilities and additional needs including Dyslexia, Autism and Specific Language Impairment - from early years pupils to mature students. I find that tutees benefit from the one-to-one focus they are given, and the individualised plans we work from enforces enhancement of their current knowledge in their chosen subject areas.

I always ensure a person-centred approach is achieved when tutoring. Each tutee learns through different techniques and at different speeds so I develop my tutoring level and scope to suit the individuals needs. I tutored three children for 2013's 'Transfer Test' (Northern Ireland's Grammar School intake assessment) and the results confirmed that this approach is effective, as all sitting the demanding test passed with flying colours, with two getting into Northern Ireland's top Grammar School.

Personal Description:
I have 20 years of experience in publishing as a writer and editor and am passionate about nurturing English language skills and a love of English literature. I graduated from the University of Stirling with an honours degree in English Literature and have also taught English as a foreign language. My experience in publishing has trained me to write concisely and economically while retaining an imaginative grasp on a piece of work, a skill invaluable in writing essays and examination answers; and especially useful in assisting students with the new written assessments that, in Higher English, from 2016, comprise 30 per cent of the final examination mark.

I can empathise with students who are tussling with English, relish improving a person's understanding and enjoyment of the subject and take satisfaction from helping to develop their abilities not only in the practical sense of improving their powers of analysis and understanding of texts but in helping them think imaginatively and creatively. As a personal tutor, I have a proven record of upgrading students' performances, especially at Higher level, and have, in several instances, improved so dramatically pupils who were on course to fail Higher English that they went on to achieve an 'A' grade in their Higher examination.

Teaching Experience:

I have five years' tutoring experience. In 2012, 65 per cent of my tutees for Higher English achieved an 'A' grade, with several Band 1s among them. In the 2013 Higher English examination, 75 per cent of my tutees obtained either an A or a B, with slightly more than half of those obtaining an A and several obtaining a distinction in doing so. In 2012 and 2013, all of my tutees at Standard Grade achieved either a band 1 or a Band 2. Similarly, in 2014, all National 5 students achieved an A or a B. At Higher, in 2014, 85 per cent of tutees achieved an A or a B, with the remainder, several of whom had been struggling severely, delighted to have achieved a pass. In 2015, 85 per cent of my tutees achieved an A in their Higher, Sixth Year Studies and National 5 examinations. The other 15 per cent achieved a B.

With my help, tutees have obtained the vital English qualification that was essential to them obtaining a place at such universities as: Cambridge, Oxford, Aberdeen, Dundee, St Andrews, Heriot-Watt, Edinburgh, Stirling, Strathclyde, Glasgow and the Glasgow College of Art.

I also have experience teaching English as a Foreign Language, in Egypt, both in private schools and in tutoring young people on an individual basis.

In publishing, I was frequently chosen to tutor new entrants to the profession because of my precise use of language and empathetic nature on a one-to-one level.

I studied English Literature to honours level at the University of Stirling and aim to pass on my love of the subject to students through establishing a rapport with them and recommending to them the type of literature that would complement their learning and enable them to derive pleasure from studying English.

Tutoring Approach:

On first meeting, I will discuss with the student how they wish to improve and which aspects of their English studies they feel require greatest attention. I will adapt tutorials to suit the student's needs and course of study. Additional exercises and study guides will be developed together, so that the student can participate with enthusiasm and purpose in the tutorials. This allows me to work to the student's strengths, to help them manage their problem areas more effectively and to derive greater enjoyment from the subject. I will adopt a measured approach and will use my communication skills to ensure that the student understands and absorbs each aspect of the lesson before progressing to the next stage. I aim to make lessons pleasurable and fun as a means of making learning easier, enjoyable and more memorable.

Personal Description:
I have a broad knowledge of texts, and am well qualified to meet the curricular needs of any pupil. I have marked Standard Grade folio and Higher Critical essay for the SQA for many years, and Higher Folio for the last 6 years, so am well versed in expected pupil standards.
I would also like to say, at this point, that the reason I prefer pupils to come to my home is because I do not drive and I have lots of materials at home.

Teaching Experience:

I have been teaching English at all levels, from 1st-6th years, for 24 years.
I have also been tutoring for 12/13 years and in last years (2014) exams I saw all my tutees pass Higher despite some of them only coming to me after having failed their Prelim. All were ecstatic with their result and phoned to inform, and thank,me. This years results have been astounding as of my 8 tutees, 7 got A passes and one got a B. All came for the majority of the year and none were certainties for an A. Indeed 3 were struggling but worked extremely hard and got well deserved A's.

As well as new pupils for Higher last session ( 14/15) I also had several returning pupils,or siblings, from last year as my services as a tutor have been retained to now take them through the transition from Standard N5 to Higher. This has been a trend for me as tutees have always been happy with the lessons and my efforts in making them feel comfortable.

Tutoring Approach:

I am a well experienced tutor on a 1 to 1 and group basis. I have tutored at all Secondary levels and will support, and supplement, the teaching materials already provided by the pupils' schools. I will look over, and grade, work done by pupils in school and that set by me. In general, I will identify a pupils weakest areas and we will work hard on improving on that whilst "fine tuning" other areas.
As of the Academic year 2014/15 National 5 and N6 Higher students were catered for and I, myself, taught it to my 4th and 5th year students. This will be a very challenging year for S4 as a lot has to be done in a shorter time as year 4, generally have 1 or 2 less teaching periods than year 5/6 yet they have the same work to cover. In addition they have more exams and work experience to cope with. An early start at this would be advised in order to get into folio as soon as possible.

Personal Description:
Having gained a First Class Degree in English and Drama from Manchester University, I went on to train as an actor at The Bristol Old Vic Theatre School. I have been tutoring for 5 years, working with students from the age of 7 up to 18, supporting KS1 and 2 literacy, GCSE, A Level and IB curriculums. I am always delighted to see excellent results, both in terms of grades and confidence.

I can deliver a programme of early years' literacy activities, based on the students needs and in line with the curriculum, and always ensure a fun, interactive learning environment.

I am able to help older students access their deeper understanding of texts and contexts, hone close textual analysis skills, understand critical theories, and to develop strategies and tools with which to get ideas down on paper and structure effective essays.

I have taught prep for 11plus exams, and I also specialise in creative writing tuition.

Additionally, I have also worked with students with behaviour and learning difficulties, such as Asperger's syndrome and dyslexia.

I tutor: English Literature and Language, Creative Writing, Theatre Studies, History, Entrance exam preparation

I also teach drama school audition preparation and public speaking skills

- As Level exams in Post 1800 poetry and prose, and English Language. We focused on understanding context, form and structure. They all reported back positively on their exams and felt I had made a great difference.
I recently helped a GCSE student re take and pass his English literature and Language papers
Last year I guided two A Level Students through coursework- focusing in detail at honing essay writing skill, dissecting complex novels and poems, and preparing for exams.

Teaching Experience:

-5years as a private tutor
-Assistant Tutor; Kumon Maths (Hampstead Branch)
-6 months as a Teaching Assistant (SEN) ; Carlton Primary School
-2 months as a 1-1 learning and care assistant to a young child with non-verbal cerebral palsy
-On-going voluntary work as a drama wokshop facilitator, (and Hackney Shed Inclusive Theatre Company) both a university and drama school
-TEFL introductory course- Cambridge
-Creative writing teacher training with The Ministry of Stories
-Drama facilitator, Hackney Shed Theatre Company

Tutoring Approach:

I believe tutoring should be a dialogue, not a dictatorship. Each lesson would be highly organized to cater for the requirements and ability level of the individual student. I plan all sessions to include a range of discussion, demonstration, exercises, review of work and homework tasks if required. Crucial to my teaching approach is an easy, flexible engagement with the individual- working to their learning style and objectives, and encouraging the pupil to draw out their own understandings rather than enforce rote learning.

Areas of expertise include: Literature Romantic poetry, contemporary poetry, the dystopian novel, the Gothic novel, WWI literature, post-colonial literature, the early novel, Shakespeare, dramatic writing, film studies. History- Nazi Germany, Fascist Italy, Russia from Revolution through to the cold war. Apartheid in South Africa, the Suffragette movement, the history of British Education, Chartism. Theatre- Greek theatre, Kabuki, German Expressionism, Melodrama, Realism, Naturalism, Absurdism, post 1950s British drama, contemporary theatre

Personal Description:
I am a working actor and a recent Graduate of the Bristol Old Vic Theatre School. Before going to drama school I went to The University of Nottingham where I achieved a first class degree in English Language and Literature. I am self-motivated, enthusiastic and passionate about Drama and English.

Teaching Experience:

I have recently worked as a Maths and English tutor with Explore learning. I taught Maths and English to children aged 4 - 14 of various abilities. I received training in the National Curriculum as well as current tutoring methods. I have a particular strength in preparing students for 11+ exams.

In Bristol I assisted on and led various Drama workshops including; introduction to Shakespeare, confidence building and audition technique.

Tutoring Approach:

I am friendly and enthusiastic with a proven record of working well with children. I believe that every child can benefit from one-on-one tuition; whether they need extra help with a subject they are struggling with or they would relish the challenge of extension work. Private tuition can give them the extra time they need to let difficult ideas settle and to encourage them to ask questions and push themselves further. Above all I will try to make every session fun, relaxed and positive. This is not 'school' but a opportunity to bring their learning to life.

Personal Description:
I have studied a broad range of subjects during my Bachelor's degree (English and Classics, RHUL) and Master's (Comparative Art and Archaeology with Law, UCL). My main interests lie in English literature of the Victorian and Medieval periods, Fin de Siecle Art and Theory and Archaeology.

Aside from my studies I play a lot of sport (lacrosse, rugby and athletics) and have captained teams at national and regional level. Due to my teaching experience (see below) I am comfortable working with children through to adults on a broad range of subjects.

I am dedicated to providing all my students with the time they need to improve, thus will only take a certain amount of students at a time. At the moment, I have space for 2 A-level students and 2 more Higher Education students.

Teaching Experience:

German, Maths and Drama Teaching Assistant - Chancellor's School - 2006/2007

Tutoring Approach:

Academic experience: I have worked in private tutoring, state and private schools, university departments and know how examiners mark and what they expect. I have worked for 2 prestigious Universities and am adept at entrance documents and applications. In addition, one needs to be constantly aware of the changing curricula, mark schemes, and student specifications, knowledge and understanding of which can guarantee a 95%+ grade.

Encouragement: As a sports captain, Head of Year prefect and Global Citizenship Mentor (UCL) I realise the need for a pupil's confidence to be built up before they can achieve better. In my opinion a pupil is never failing, they can just achieve more.

Planning: It is essential for us to have an organised lesson plan, and plan for our future sessions so we can map where we should be heading and what we have achieved. Many students suffer from poor organisation which, if remedied, would immediately proffer far better results.

Education: During my past 8 years of college, undergraduate and graduate university I have been educated in a host of valuable disciplines that help interest and inspire any student.

Personal Description:
I am a professional and dedicated native English teacher with years of experience behind me.

Teaching Experience:

I have gained TEFL experience within varied teaching roles, both abroad and in the UK. In my previous roles I have worked with children, teenagers, and adults in companies, schools, and summer camps. I have taught General English, Business English, and exam classes to groups and one-to-one students in school and business environments. I also have experience of teaching students with dyslexia. This variety has enabled me to continually assess my style of teaching and keep me on my toes!

Working in such roles has given me crucial insight into the needs of the student. I am extremely patient and understand the frustration that can arise when learning, whether it is a new language or subject. I realise that people acquire knowledge through varied means so I am keen to adjust my teaching style to benefit my students.

Tutoring Approach:

I believe a mature, responsible, and eclectic teaching approach, as well as a good sense of humour, is crucial for a successful learning environment.

I offer a custom-made service, whether you need to improve your general English skills, your writing, or simply build your confidence. I also have years of experience in teaching Business English and Exam English (IELTS/FCE/CAE). Whatever you need help with, I am happy to focus my lessons on what you require.

I offer Skype lessons and professional proofreading for people who may not be able to meet face-to-face.

I am available to tutor at your home, workplace, or in a quiet cafe in Cambridge. I can also tutor in Central London.

Personal Description:
I work with my students to increase their confidence and help them improve their communication skills, in speaking and writing.

I have an English Degree from Bristol University, and I speak fluent French. I have a Trinity TEFL (Teaching English as a Foreign Language) qualification.

I have worked as a writer, journalist and editor in this country and abroad, for magazines, newspapers and the BBC World Service.
I have worked for the UN and the EU, as well as many private clients and international aid agencies.

I came to tutoring in Africa, where it was clear that my services and experience could be very useful to students at all levels: I have taught one to one and in small groups, privately and most recently for a comprehensive school in Surrey.

I have also edited an MA thesis in History of Art for the Courtauld and some theses for Sotheby's History of Art students (we normally do very well!).

I have an Assessor's and Verifier's Award for CITY and Guilds NVQ courses. I am also teaching English and other subjects in Prisons in London, Kent and Sussex.

I am a mother of two boys, both now at university. My husband works in conservation which is why the family has travelled extensively. We are now back in England for the foreseeable future.

Teaching Experience:

Private students (A level and GCSE) and also teach GCSE English on a 1:1 basis to the lower sets of students at Jubilee International High School in Surrey. They have all raised their grades significantly and are much more confident with their work.
EFL at Guildford College to young Spanish students - Summer 2013.
I speak fluent French; I was a governor at Cranbrook School in Kent, and stood in for a term for the French assistante when she had to go home early. My A level students did well, and two continued their classes with me privately.
Tutor at Make the Grade tuition in Tunbridge Wells and also at summer English revision courses at Tonbridge School.
I devised and delivered a course for women journalists in Sierra Leone and taught creative writing and English at Foura Bay University.
Creative writing privately to groups, and at the University of Kent. I have helped students with presentation and interview skills, their CVs and Drama and Performing Arts GCSE.
Assessed NVQ Level 2 students in Customer Service with a 100% pass record.

Tutoring Approach:

I understand communication at all levels - verbal, written and on the web - and I am passionate about making people understand each other. I care very much about the basics - grammar, punctuation, spelling, and I have devised effective study skills tools which make a real difference.

My sessions are fun and inspiring. I am patient, and approachable, and work hard with my pupils to help them reach their full potential. I cannot do magic, but even the least able have contacted me after their exams to tell me they felt more confident about them. Some even told me they enjoyed them!

Personal Description:
I have moved to North Devon in the last year and am setting up a Tutoring Business alongside training as a Psychotherapist. I have worked with children for 14 years and have a lot of experience with them and very much enjoy teaching them. The feedback I have had so far is that their child feels much more confident that then builds a good foundation for developing their learning skills.

Teaching Experience:

I have been a Primary School teacher for 9 years.

Tutoring Approach:

Please see above in my "About myself" section.
I work with each child as an individual. As each child is different, they have a unique approach to learning that I am willing to find out and use. I have a relaxed style but we cover a lot in the time we have and I have started to see a change after a few sessions.

Personal Description:
I am a voracious reader, and was therefore tempted to choose English as my main subject in university, but eventually decided on French. I studied at Stanford University for four years, including one year through its study abroad programme in Paris. I have also worked many years as a professional musician, touring in the UK, Europe, USA and Mexico.

Teaching Experience:

I taught English to high school students for one year in France.
In a night school in Utah (USA) I taught English as a second language to adults.
I have taught music (guitar, ukulele and piano) for nearly 10 years.

Tutoring Approach:

I believe in student-centred teaching, so rather than impose strict rules I approach each student as an individual in order to find the best approach for gaining skills and confidence in the subject. Structure is also important, however, and it's important to use exercises and repetition to really come to terms with a subject. Games and songs have their place, too; let's have fun while we're learning!

Personal Description:
Hi! My name is Hana and I am very excited at this opportunity to become a tutor.

I obtained 10 GCSEs, including an A* in French and English. I then moved on to take the Intenational Baccalaureate rather than A-levels which improved my general skills as well as subject knowledge. I achieved a level 5 in both French and English Literature (both at higher level).
I am currently studying French and Art at university.

Teaching Experience:

A few years ago I did a week of work experience in a primary school, working with children from the age of 4 up until the age of 11. During this placement I assisted with English and reading, art lessons and French lessons. The experience was very rewarding and I even received (handmade) presents from some of the students when I left!

Very recently I worked and lived in a château in France for 8 weeks, vastly improving my level of French during my stay. I also began to teach some French children a bit of English, but most of my time was taken up speaking French with the locals and visitors who came to stay in the château.

I have also helped my younger brother and neighbours with homework and revision several times!

Tutoring Approach:

I hope to tutor in a fun and practical manner, using art or memory techniques where I can! I can change my approach depending on the age of the person being tutored, as well as their individual needs and requirements.
I myself find that colours, pictures and interesting work sheets can aid learning and revision, thus I will try to incorporate these where I can!

Personal Description:
My name is James I thought about teaching when I was at secondary school, I`m now 35 years old. Tutoring for me is a second profession. I attended the Christchurch Secondary School in Ashford and have attained a my DTLLS - Diploma in Teaching in 2014 at Christchurch University. I teach as part of my day job, teaching law and legislation to the new Officers.

My passion for teaching in my day job has now excited me to the point where I would like to support others in maximizing their potential.

I have been teaching as part of my current role for 6 years, initially with a city and guilds qualification in assessing. I then wanted to further my professional development by completing a teaching diploma at University which I achieved in 2014. I am responsible for teaching new recruits in my day job. This has involved classroom based teaching, scenario assessing and assessing individuals in the workplace against a set of National Occupational Standards (NOS`s) set and awarded by City of Guilds.

I have tutored adults aged 18 - 65 at work and also young persons aged 12-16. I have children myself with the youngest now 8 years of age whom i regular tutor in Maths and English.

My aim is to make the subject fun and engaging. Without having this engagement, learning simply doesn`t happen. The student has to be the number one priority. Being able to talk to the student about common interests as well as the subject matter will allow them to have that moment of escapism before being brought back to the subject at hand. My sessions, although structured to the syllabus being taught are always adaptable and so therefore the style of my teaching will always adapt to allow the student to get the very best from the session.

My style of teaching is relaxed yet purposeful ensuring a quality service.
