Personal Description:
I am 26 years old and am currently working as a Primary Supply Teacher in Liverpool. I graduated last year with a First Class Honours degree in a Primary Education (with QTS - Qualified Teacher Status) from the Manchester Metropolitan University. Prior to this I spent two years studying French and Spanish at the University of Manchester, before deciding to withdraw from my course in order to focus on my main passion, education. My desire is to use up-to-date strategies observed at university and in school, as well as in current educational research, to help children improve their knowledge, understanding and skills to perform more confidently in school.

I recently received a full DBS enhanced disclosure, and can provide a copy upon request, along with evidence of my completed degree and successful completion of the QTS Skills Tests in Mathematics and English.

Teaching Experience:

I spent four years developing my skills as a classroom teacher during my studies, in various classroom settings at several primary schools across the north west and in the United States. My time in school has varied from KS2 settings to Early Years and the Foundation Stage, working with small groups of children, on a one-to-one basis, and leading full class sessions that were planned and assessed independently. The majority of my training took place in Year 5 classrooms, working with children aged around 9-10. Since this time, I have worked for two different supply teaching agencies, gaining further classroom experience.

I developed two areas of specialism at university: International Perspectives, and Children's Literature and Language (literacy). During the time spent in one of my schools, I was working with dyslexic children, developing reading and spelling skills on a one-to-one basis, which included the use of ICT materials.

I have also worked with children as a summer camp counsellor in the US for the past eight years, working with boys aged from 5 to 13 years old. Whilst this work is not of an educational manner, the professionalism and skills I have acquired from the role are similarly placed to those required of an educator. My duties have been eclectic, from the basic care and nurturing of the children, to the coaching of sports games, and even practising management and organisational skills in my more recent position as a Division Assistant.

Tutoring Approach:

Whilst I understand that the purpose of tutoring is to enrich the learner's knowledge and improve their ability in a given subject, I believe in taking a more diagnostic approach, finding and tackling the specific problems of the individual learner. This I feel will help to boost their confidence in the subject, which will hopefully lead to better enjoyment and success in the school environment. Furthermore, addressing gaps in the student's knowledge is much more inherent to future success if discovered and filled earlier in the student's educational career. I also believe in recording evidence of progress - which certainly requires practice - and find the use of regular "quizzes" and "challenges" useful in allowing the learner to see their progress, as well as assigning independent homework tasks where appropriate to maintain progress between sessions. This also allows the learner to reflect and manage a plan of action for him/herself, deciding which areas to focus on next and to set their own achievable targets and learning goals.

* Pricing by subject is standard across all so that individual lessons can be tailored to cover more than one subject area in the same hour. Reading & Writing Skills and English can be combined to work on a variety of basic skills, including spelling and grammar. Similarly, a variety of Study Skills can be introduced to sessions that have a Maths focus. Sessions that require a combination of Maths and English can equally be arranged. Please make contact to discuss further any specific requirements.

Personal Description:
I am a young and energetic person who strongly believes in building relationships with students that support their learning. I love travelling, literature (both classic and contemporary) and sports (especially football, rugby and cricket).

Teaching Experience:

I have six years experience teaching in Wales, Bristol and at The Ashcombe School in Dorking, teaching across all age ranges. I currently teach English from Year 7 to GCSE (AQA exam board) and Media Studies and English Literature at A level (AQA and OCR exam boards, respectively). I have previously taught to the WJEC (Welsh) exam board and am willing to tutor to other exam boards as required.

Tutoring Approach:

I can give your child the support they need to build their confidence so they feel more able to complete school tasks, homework, coursework and exam revision. At exam level, I build on school work, revising techniques and consolidating the skills and topics learned so that students can reach their full potential in external exams. At the highest level, I will guide your son or daughter through textual annotations and literary study.

I bring an innovative and personalised approach to tutoring so your child never needs to feel that tutoring sessions are an extension of school; instead they are a way to look at English (or Media Studies!) in a positive light so tutees can enjoy learning.

Personal Description:
I enjoy reading, walking and I like to keep fit and active. I am constantly wanting to learn new things and develop myself academically.

I thoroughly enjoy teaching and being with students who are wanting to learn and keen to do well. Conversely, I enjoy a challenge and enjoy teaching those who aren't as willing to pursue and achieve their goals. I have the ability to work well with a variety of people and furthermore, the ability to remain calm in a pressured environment. I am seen as a likeable and Honest person who is hard working and believes good tutoring begins with the child.

Teaching Experience:

I have taught in a Special Needs School for five years as the head of English. I taught English to a range of ages from eight to sixteen years of age. I tutored a high school student one evening a week during her final GCSE year and she has achieved a GCSE in English as a result and more recently I have tutored a student who no longer attended school who required my services for a few hours during the week to complete her GCSE in English and she also achieved a GCSE in English as a result. I am currently tutoring English and Maths to a year three and a year five and Maths to a year six student.

Tutoring Approach:

As with all teaching I believe good tutoring begins with the child and the confidence the tutor instills within the child to achieve the best. Its about working with the knowledge, skills and attitude they already possess and nurturing these. I believe that all children learn in different ways and ensure that the needs of visual, auditory and kinaesthetic learners are met.

Personal Description:
Warm greetings!

I am a multilingual, legal executive and researcher with a long-standing passion in teaching, lecturing and management. I have taught at all levels from primary to the university level.

My teaching experience extends over 20 years, and is backed by professional qualifications in each field that I teach. I.e. Law, English, Arabic and Tae Kwon Do / Self Defence.

Teaching Experience:

I have taught both Arabic and English (native speaker) at various levels - up to university undergraduate level, at several London and UK-based schools as well as managing and directing an international language school in the Middle East.

I also tutor law, up to and including undergraduate level, this includes the foundation subjects: Equity and Trusts, Tort, European, Criminal, Public, Land and Contract.

Martial arts, fitness and self defence wise, I have taught Tae Kwon Do, grappling and Self Defence in clubs in London and High Wycombe.

Tutoring Approach:

I use a relaxed interactive, seminarial approach whenever practical. I am not, however, averse to IT based or traditional methods and welcome a diverse and results-oriented approach. My aim is to help you achieve your goals.

I recommend that you book for a one hour meeting / tutorial initially as further tuition can then be discussed, rather than booking for umpteen sessions!

Also, please check my location before contacting as travel distances may be a consideration!

Personal Description:
Are you worried about your child's progress in Maths or English? Do you want your child to go to a Grammar School? Would you like your child to achieve their potential? I can help.
I am an enthusiastic teacher who has a wide range of experience as a teacher, headteacher and an SEN Adviser with primary aged children. I love seeing children progress and become more confident in areas in which they have previously struggled. I keep myself constantly informed of new and exciting ways to motivate children and achieve their potential.
Exceptional Teaching, in my opinion, is a natural craft that some people have and others simply don't. I come from a family of teachers (my mother and also my sisters are teachers). It is a profession I have always enjoyed and have a special passion for. The bonus of course, is excellent grades.

Teaching Experience:

I have been in education for over 25 years, as a teacher, a Headteacher and an SEN Adviser. I have been fortunate enough to work in a range of excellent schools where I have taught all year groups. I pride myself in being able to help children, whatever their needs or abilities, to love learning and achieve their potential. I have tutored 1-1 for the last five years and have good relationships with the children and families that I work with. These children have gone on to achieve excellent results in their chosen areas e.g. improved confidence, improved attainment, achieving SATS levels 4 and 5 and succeeding in entrance exams for Grammar, Wide-ability and Independent schools.

Tutoring Approach:

My personal attitude towards all learning (especially tutoring) is that all children are entitled to a high quality education, which is tailored towards children's individual needs, so that they are able to make sufficient progress and enjoy their learning. I approach tutoring with a positive, can do attitude. I tailor each session to the individual child's strengths, weaknesses, interests and goals. I believe anyone can do well; it's just a question of finding the right way to learn it. One of the things that I find prevents children and adults from learning, particularly Mathematics, is the feeling of being rubbish at it. Your mindset certainly influences how well you do and once you are relaxed you learn so much better. I employ a combination of direct approaches and child-centered approaches when giving individual tutoring support. I am a very committed person, and will always strive to make sure that all children who are tutored are able to achieve their potential.

I am flexible, friendly and approachable person, having a key commitment towards high quality teaching and learning for all children. I firmly believe that different people learn in different ways, so no one way will suit all. You probably know more than you think, we will just work to make sure it can all be communicated. I look forward to discussing your child and how I can help and develop their potential.

Personal Description:
I'm a young and professional Secondary English Teacher.

My expertise is English Language and Literature in the 11-19 range but my qualifications, teaching experience and academic knowledge make me a suitable candidate for a much wider range of subjects and ages.

My teaching approach is informal and studious. I know how to get the best results from all students and have an excellent success rate. Recent successes this summer include: preparing a Saudi Arabian adult learner for his University application, helping an AS student rise from an E to a B in her History exam and helping a SEN child make the transition from primary to secondary school. My GCSE exam rates in English and English Literature were also amongst the highest in the school with 80% of students achieving A*-C and 30% attaining A/A*.

I have an outstanding rapport with my students who all benefit from my easygoing and dedicated, student-centred approaches.

Whether you are revising for an exam, working on coursework, applying for a particular course or institution or just wanting to develop your academic skills, my engaging and caring tutoring sessions will reap huge benefits for you.

Teaching Experience:

I have seven years of teaching and tutoring experience under my belt.

At present I am working as an English Teacher and Literacy Coordinator at an outstanding West London School. This gives me access to an incredible range of resources and means that I am fully experienced in the English National Curriculum and relevant GCSE and A Level Exam boards. My role as a coordinator means that I also specialise in helping students with weak literacy or Special Educational Needs.

Before this I was working as an ESL teacher in Asia for three years. I taught and tutored a diverse age range of 3 - 70 catering for every kind of student, whether they were learning to read or applying to study at an International University. As a tutor my services were popular and well subscribed as I taught individuals or family groups.

Throughout my teaching experience I have taught many forms of literacy and critical thinking. I know how to tailor my lessons to individuals students whether they are learning English as an Additional Language, studying for entrance exams or working toward a particular exam specification.

Tutoring Approach:

I have often been praised for having an approachable and inclusive manner with all my students. I always tailor my teaching to the demands and deadlines of the individual. My style is engaging and highly productive. I thoroughly enjoy what I do and that enthusiasm passes on to those I teach. I have an excellent rapport with people and always make sure that my students feel at ease and comfortable in their learning environment. I have high expectations of my students who trust me to get the best out of them.

I understand how important the decision making process is to find the right tutor. In acknowledgement of this I offer all students a free first tutorial so that the all important learning relationship can be set up and any queries satisfied.

If you would like more information about how I would tailor my tutoring for your needs then please email me with any questions.

Personal Description:
I am a friendly, down to earth individual currently undertaking a PGCE in Primary Education at The University of Manchester. I've completed my first block placement (with a Year 4 class) and was graded "outstanding."

I recently completed a BA degree in English Literature also at The University of Manchester, for which I was awarded first class honours and received a special award for my final year work.

Before this, I undertook A2 levels in English Literature, English Language, and Physics, with AS levels in Chemistry and Music.

I have a valid DBS check which was undertaken as part of my PGCE studies.

Teaching Experience:

I taught a Year 4 class of 36 pupils for nine weeks during October-December 2014. I also have trainee teaching experience with Years 5 and 6, and with EYFS (early years foundation stage) children. I am due to begin a placement in Year 2 from April.

I have also tutored pupils ranging in ages from 15-18, and enjoy working with both younger and older students.

I have worked for several years as a piano tutor and recently assisted in the tuition of the English language for a fifteen-year-old student based in Manchester.

Throughout the course of my four years at The University of Manchester I have composed research papers on: Anglo-Saxon literature and culture; Chaucer and his contemporaries; early modern poetry; Shakespeare and his contemporaries; eighteenth-century criminal narratives; the eighteenth-century novel; the nineteenth-century, including Dickens, Austen, and the Bronte sisters; English modernism; D. H. Lawrence; recent U.S. fiction; and film and the Middle Ages.

I feel qualified to offer tuition for advanced English Literature, English Language, Drama (Theatre Studies), and Media Studies, and for additional subjects at GCSE, intermediate, and beginner levels based on my own work at A2 level.

As mentioned above, I have volunteer in a local primary school, and in doing so have gained experience working with a younger age group.

Tutoring Approach:

I think the most important aspect of tutoring is to tailor the service offered to the individual student, based on his or her individual needs and requirements. I strive to do this, whilst creating a friendly, positive learning environment.

Personal Description:
I am a 1st Class Honours graduate from UCLAN, Preston, having studied Dance Performance and Teaching. The course combined dance technique, physical training and a strong focus on facilitating and tutoring.
I now am undergoing highly acclaimed PGCE Secondary teacher training specialising in Performing Arts (dance and drama) at Liverpool Hope University and professionally lecture HND Dance at Mid Cheshire college.
I enjoy academic work and feel confident in my own abilities regarding writing skills, basic computer skills and organisational skills. I personally have worked on these attributes through all my A Level studies and during University (both under-graduate and post-graduate) to reach a stage where I am competent and comfortable enough to pass what I have learnt onto others.
My A Level subjects included English Language, Psychology and Performing Arts.
I am an approachable, empathetic and dedicated tutor that has knowledge of the current education system and styles first hand.

(Also available for tutoring in Cheshire, Merseyside and Lancashire.)

Teaching Experience:

To date, my experience varies from both formal educational settings to those in the community. I have experience with all ages in both areas and also with all abilities; including disadvantaged groups and disabled students.
Dance is my specialism so I often teach in Physical Education settings, combining techniques from both typical classroom management and also general facilitation.
I am continually working in the community to broaden my experience base and as a result have worked with all types of learners therefore building up a good amount of tools and skills that I apply to individual cases.
I assist in the running and facilitating of Preston Youth Dance Company and run my own community classes as well as teach professionally at further and higher education levels.

Tutoring Approach:

My approach is often a more physical 'learn by doing' approach. Visualising and trying each avenue out is what I find works best in order to understand what does and does not work. I take care in addressing the type of learner I deal with and prefer not to force or expect knowledge but encourage and develop it.
I believe that it is important to firstly understand each other as tutor and tutee and then agree on preferred structure and goals, both short and long term. I also firmly believe in praise where due and do not hesitate to create the correct relationship boundaries.

Personal Description:
I am a Shakespeare fanatic with six years' classroom experience. I enjoy reading a wide range of fiction and non-fiction and became a teacher to share my passion for language. Now that I have a young family, I have decided to indulge my love of teaching outside the classroom to fit around raising my children. I keep in touch with my former colleagues to stay abreast of the rapidly developing education system.

Teaching Experience:

I have taught in Grammar schools in Kent, outer-London schools and a wide variety of institutions in Hong Kong. My subject knowledge covers English, Drama and Theatre Studies, and Classical Civilisation (the latter subjects are very useful for approaching English texts in innovative ways). I am most familiar with the new GCSE specification for AQA, but can happily adapt to other exam boards. I am a GCSE English Literature examiner for some boards also. I have experience tutoring 11-18 year olds and have worked with students with a variety of special needs.

Tutoring Approach:

I create personalised programmes to fit the needs of individual students and frequently adapt these to incorporate new texts and resources to keep the lessons fresh and relevant. My sessions tend to focus on assessment technique and start with short focused activities, building the skills necessary to complete longer written tasks designed to mimic the conditions of examinations. Alternatively, I can support students with their class work more directly, assisting with homework and helping with clarity of expression in other subjects too.

I aim for students to enjoy our sessions and feel comfortable asking questions; my main goal is to help them improve and I can only do that through honest discussion of issues. I do expect high standards and find that my pupils meet my expectations and gain grades they are proud of, when they apply themselves. Confidence is the key to learning and it is in this area that my students make the swiftest progress, which enables them to access the top grades and enjoy their increasing capability in a subject that at first seemed inaccessible.

For adult learners, I offer programmes that reflect each individuals' interests in language development and present activities in a variety of ways to keep lessons lively and relevant. I find that striking the balance between grammatical accuracy and colloquial usage allows second language students to feel much more confident interacting with native speakers.

I like to have a good rapport with tutees' parents as I feel that learning is a joint initiative. Testimonials from former clients are available upon request. My fee includes all resources (apart from set texts) and the loan of study guides and other useful materials as required.

Personal Description:
My name is Chris , and I am a highly experienced tutor of Maths, English and 11+ entrance tuitions for selective schools. I teach Maths at all levels up to GSCE level, and English at all levels up to Key Stage 3 level.

I live in Devizes, Wiltshire.

I have been tutoring for 13 years, and have 24 written references from parents and I also have a Maths degree.

I have for much of those 13 years worked as a full-time tutor, and I use National Curriculum Resources for all my tuitions.

Teaching Experience:

During my 13 years as a tutor, I have taught students of all ages and abilities, and have literally taught 1000's of lessons- at times teaching as many as 29 hours of tuition in a week.

I have taught every type of student from those with Learning Disabilities to the Gifted & Talented.

I am constantly recommended by parents to other parents, and I have a proven track record of improving students' grades.
I also have resources and past papers , for 11+, SATS (English & Maths) and GSCE Maths.

Tutoring Approach:

I am a friendly person by nature , and I take this into my tuitions. I like to make my students feel at ease in the lessons , and that they have a tutor that they feel they can ask as many questions as they like.

I also believe in offering plenty of praise and encouragement to my students.

I follow the National Curriculum programme in my tutoring, to cover all aspects of the syllabus.

However, even if I have prepared a certain topic for a lesson, if the student then asks me to look over in a different topic, or wants me to help them with some school homework, then I am always flexible to do just that.

I also never move on to a new topic with a student, until I am happy that they have fully understood what I have been teaching.

My method of teaching is to teach a topic, and then set the student plenty of practice examples , to make sure they fully understand the topic.

Personal Description:
I have recently completed a masters degree in Critical Writing in Art and Design at the Royal College of Art. Since leaving the RCA I have begun a large writing project that examines our relationship to place and landscape - I am currently writing about Northumberland and Dungeness and will soon be turning my attention to objects and tools used in constructing the places we occupy.

Before the RCA, I studied painting at Winchester School of Art. It was here that I began to write and I found that the two were able to work in the same way. As a painter I developed processes that I am able to apply to my writing, allowing me to look and examine my work differently.

As well as writing, I enjoy cycling, walking, reading and looking at artworks. I am currently reading The Children's Book by A.S.Byatt, The Collected Poems of Paul Celan, short stories of Robert Walser and am about to read Shark by Will Self. My favourite books are C by Tom McCarthy, Rings of Saturn by W.G.Sebald and The Waves by Virginia Woolf and I struggle to choose a favourite artwork but Tacita Dean's films, the paintings of Francis Bacon, drawings of Lucian Freud and sculptures of Rodin would feature.

Teaching Experience:

I have been a visiting lecturer at Winchester School of Art and am also teaching in December at Hereford School of Art.

Tutoring Approach:

When teaching writing and art, I want to always be asking why. It is so important that what is being written or made is questioned and so I want students to keep asking themselves why they are making or writing something. By doing this, the end product is one of certainty.

It is important that each student feels confident in lessons about what they are doing and what they can do. My teaching and communication style will vary between pupils but will always be supportive and encouraging with the intention of allowing the student to fulfil potential.

Personal Description:
A resident of Edinburgh for the past twelve years I enjoy meeting new people and learning new things myself. I am fairly well travelled, enjoy the arts and have a passion for working alongside others to help them achieve their goals.

I am a professional actor with degree level qualifications in both Philosophy (Dundee University) and Acting (Queen Margaret University College).

Teaching Experience:

I have worked with adults in improving spoken and written English for UK degree entry level. I have also worked with college and university students in the Middle East (UAE) to train science and drama education in both Arabic and English.

For several years I have visited schools in both the public and private sectors delivering reading, drama and science communication classes.

I have regularly taught 5-15 years drama in private classes and enjoy working with pre-drama school entrants of all ages in working on giving the best entrance audition possible.

Tutoring Approach:

I am confident at creating a structured approach that works with a pupil's own strengths and needs to provide a tailor-made package for learning.

Ideally I meet with each student to discuss their learning needs, current level and expected outcomes.

Although it is important to push the boundaries of learning, it should always be a workload that is both manageable and individually tailored.

People learn best when they are enjoying themselves, so I try my best to make learning fun and interactive.

Personal Description:
I am currently an English student at university, looking to enter into the world of post-compulsory teaching this coming September. I am a patient, articulate person who is on track to receive a strong 2:1 grade for his degree. In my spare time, I enjoy writing stories - my dissertation this year is a creative writing one. I also enjoy art and drawing (specifically anime), and am an avid reader. My favourite books are The Perks of Being a Wallflower, and The Book Thief.

Teaching Experience:

Although I have no recent experience, I can assure you that I will bring an air of professionalism to tutoring, and will strive to help those I teach as best I can. I currently am trusted by many of my friends to regularly proofread their assignments and essays and this is something I always do as best I can.

Tutoring Approach:

I think the best approach to teaching is to have a fun, passionate outlook on your subject. If you as an educator are passionate about your subject, your students will be, too, and the best way to help someone learn is to imbue them with a love for what they're learning.
