Personal Description:
I am a fully qualified English teacher, studying English at Queen Mary University of London (BA hons 2.1), completed my PGCE at The University of Nottingham. Recently I was awarded a Masters in Education from the University of Nottingham and currently I am teaching English at a secondary school in Camberwell, London.

I have knowledge of the iGCSE, AQA and WJES foundation and higher exam boards and am an examiner for the AQA English Literature higher paper.

Teaching Experience:

I have worked abroad teaching and in schools in the Midlands and in London up to A-Level. I have taught English as a second language privately for just over four years. I also English up to A2 (AQA exam board) and WJEC and iGCSE up to GCSE. This summer I was asked to be an AQA Examiner for English Literature higher paper.

I have a current CV and am CRB checked. I have all my GCSE, A-Level and Degree certificates available.

Tutoring Approach:

I am an easy going person but I do like to get results. I understand that people have enough homework as it is but I will ask of small tasks to make sure I keep you on track. My main approach to you help you understand something rather than to memorise how to answer an exam question; I find that if you understand a concept, learning becomes a second nature and confidence grows. I will also help with exam prep and technique along with application forms, CVs and Personal Statements. I am able to travel to location but will charge mileage. I can work from home but as I live with another person this will have to be at certain times to ensure the lesson is private.

Personal Description:
My qualifications include a BA in English Literature from Warwick University and an MA in American Literature from Sheffield University, as well as an MA in Creative Writing from Bath Spa University. As well as tutoring, I run a proofreading and copy-editing business, working for academic and business clients, including fiction writers.

In 2010, I edited an anthology of creative writing. I am also working on my first novel, and my creative writing has been published online and in literary magazines.

Teaching Experience:

I have worked as a private tutor since 2009. I offer one-to-one classes in English language (EFL and native speakers), including IELTS, as well as in literature and creative writing. I can provide tutees with help to: understand the rules of grammar; improve their linguistic style; write essays or creative pieces; analyse literary texts; or prepare for an exam, piece of coursework or interview.

My rates are affordable and include block-booking discounts. I can teach any age-group, from children to adult learners. I have experience in helping students to prepare for exams, interviews and coursework, from GCSEs to the Oxbridge entrance interview and the IELTS exam.

I have a 100% success rate in helping students to pass the IELTS exam; I succeeded in helping a student to pass the Oxbridge English entrance interview; and I have recently enabled a GCSE student to improve his English Language grade from an E to an A*.

Tutoring Approach:

I have a relaxed but focussed approach to tutoring, believing that each individual should work at their own pace. I have a great love of the English language, and of its literature, and aim to pass that on to my tutees. I am happy to work with people wherever they feel comfortable, either at my home or theirs. I plan each lesson according to the individual student's needs. I have been described by my students as a kind and thoughtful teacher, and as reliable, punctual and pleasant.

Personal Description:
I am a fully-qualified professional teacher with 25 years of experience. I regard myself as a friendly and approachable tutor, as well as honest and conscientious, and I pride myself on being able to communicate with students of all ages, from pre-teen to pensioner.

I have recently finished teaching part-time at an independent school in Sutton, and previously taught Academic Writing for East Anglia University. I am now fully available for tutoring English (11+, 13+, Ielts, GCSE, A-level, IB) plus Spanish and Government & Politics (GCSE, A-level, IB) in the borough of Sutton and close by.

I am happy to report that 14 of my 15 Eleven Plus tutees passed the Selective Eligibility Test (SET) for Sutton's grammar schools in September 2014, and my GCSE and A-level tutees achieved grades from B to A*.

Teaching Experience:

I have 25 years of teaching and tutoring experience at schools and colleges in the UK and abroad. I have taught and tutored English (including IGCSE, EFL and IELTS) in Spain, Turkey, Kazakhstan and Abu Dhabi, and also for many years in the UK of course. I have worked as a private tutor ever since I started teaching, as I realised that the existing state and private education providers could not meet the demand for high-quality intensive tuition.

I offer personal tuition in English and Verbal Reasoning for those parents whose children are undertaking preparation for the 11+ exams for the Grammar schools in Sutton and Kingston, and Common Entrance (13+) coaching for pupils preparing to enter the many independent schools in the area. My wife and I successfully tutored our own children through these exams, and we are able to do the same for yours. In addition, I give personal coaching for the independent schools' admission interviews.

I also give tuition in ESSAY WRITING and STUDY SKILLS, as my experience has taught me that many students at GCSE and A-level face real problems in these areas. By working together on students' essays, substantial improvements can be made in style, organisation, argument, presentation, and much more. This way, I can teach you how to produce more effective and mature essays, and thus help you to obtain better grades and increase your confidence in producing written work.

Tutoring Approach:

I expect hard work from my tutees, and homework should be completed to a satisfactory standard. With every tutee I carry out an initial assessment of his/her needs and abilities, and my teaching begins from there. By focusing on improving the weaknesses and consolidating the strengths, I can help to mould a successful student. This approach appears to be successful, and I can provide references.

Over the past three years I have successfully tutored students for the following schools, colleges, and universities:

Schools: Sutton Grammar, Wilsons, Wallington County, Wallington High, Nonsuch, Whitgift, Trinity, Wimbledon High, Kings School, City of London, Epsom College, Ewell Castle, and several others.

Colleges: Carshalton, Merton, NESCOT, and Kingston

Universities: Manchester, Warwick, City, East Anglia, St Martins, Lincoln, Bournemouth, and several others.

Please note that my fees are very affordable, bearing in mind that I travel to your house and offer an individualised programme of tutoring. I now charge a flat rate of 32.50 per hour for every subject at all levels for those who pay for four lessons in advance (i.e., 130 per month). If you prefer to pay at the end of each lesson, the hourly rate is 35.

Lessons of 75 and 90 minutes are also popular, and these are offered at a discounted rate. Please note that any tutoring that involves more than 6 miles travel (round trip) usually incurs a small extra charge.

If you are looking for a fully-qualified and highly-experienced teacher of English, in all its varieties, you need look no further. Here are a few messages from some of my most recent tutees:

Hello Jeff, I just got my IELTS results and I FINALLY passed it! Listening 8, Reading 7.5, Writing 7, Speaking 7.5 and it`s 7.5 overall. I would like to THANK you sooooo MUCH for your help and all advice you have given me! It would not be possible otherwise. (Vanja)

Sam got into Wilsons and we are pretty sure that his English performance carried him through. Sam said we ought to say `thanks` to you as you made a massive difference to his standard of English in a very short period of time. Not sure how, but you made something click in his brain where his school teachers had failed! (Cathy)

Hi Jeff, hope you are well. I am extremely delighted to tell you that Rick has a place at Westminster, and we are going ahead with that. He has also had offers from HABS, KCS and RGS Guildford. Thank you so much for all your support. (Animesh)

Jeff is tutoring my son and daughter in English literature and both really appreciate the assistance he is giving them. My son who is grappling with gothic texts at A level says Jeff is managing to `teach him by stealth` so he is learning skills in a painless way. My daughter who is studying GCSE was delighted that after a few weeks with Jeff her English grade moved from D to B. Overall I`m extremely pleased at the way Jeff is tutoring them. (Helen)

Hi Jeff, just to let you know that Dillon got a place at Sutton Grammar on Monday. He also received places at Whitgift, Trinity and Epsom. We have decided to accept Sutton Grammar, and thank you for all your help and time.
Thanks - Paulomi and Dillon.

Dear Jeff! Thanks you so much for tutoring me last year. You have helped my English greatly and without your advice and guidance I would have had a nervous breakdown when I was given the task of an essay. You taught me about causal connectives, signpost words, paragraph structure and much more vital strategies of writing an amazing essay.
Finally, I am happy that I got a place at Wilsons and know I would have faled the English language test without what you taught me. I am very grfateful that you gave up your time to help me pass.
Yours Sincerely, Makar

Personal Description:
As a fully qualified and experienced Teacher and Tutor of Mathematics and English, I am passionate about helping students to achieve their maximum potential and boost their grades at school.

Teaching Experience:

As a Supply Teacher with the East Riding of Yorkshire Council, I enjoy teaching various Year Groups from Year 1 to Year 6.

Also, as a well established local Private Tutor, I pride myself on my commitment to providing a professional and personal tuition service at all times.

By focussing on establishing a positive relationship with each student, and setting clear learning targets based on their ability, my tutees either achieve or exceed their learning targets.

I am able to adapt my expertise to the needs of students of all ability and age levels, including those whose second language is English, children who are preparing for entrance test examinations, or those children who may be falling behind at school for one reason or another in their Maths and English.

I also prepare adult learners for Professional skills tests in Literacy and Numeracy.

Here are a few of the comments that have been made by some of my students:

After a short period of intensive GCSE Maths revision, Mr Brown commented, "Great tuition, made a big difference to my son's exam results."

Mr Jones, an adult learner, recently commented that, following a course of tuition in Literacy skills, he "now feels more confident in writing, spelling and grammar" and that "communication via email and telephone was excellent".

Mrs Barker has also recommended Tina, stating that "Tina has achieved excellent results for our daughter in GCSE English" and that she is "personable and has high integrity".

Mrs Smith claimed that her 7 year old son, Josh, "has gained in confidence and ability since receiving tuition. He has enjoyed his sessions and has felt more able to tackle challenging work."

Tutoring Approach:

I am passionate about both high quality teaching and learning and would describe myself as an enthusiastic, dedicated and professional Teacher and Tutor who has enabled a significant number of students to achieve their maximum potential and boost their grades at school.

When working with a student, I believe it is important to provide a friendly and informal learning environment so that they can develop and learn at their own pace. While my approach is calm and encouraging, I also ensure that activities are stimulating and based on the student's age and abilities so they can enjoy and extend their learning and understanding at their own pace.

Personal Description:
I am a friendly, cheerful person. Students get on well with me. They find me relaxed, patient and committed to their success. I am especially good at building up their confidence and helping them discover that they can in fact understand the subject and succeed in it.

Teaching Experience:

I've been teaching since 1969, both young people and adults; was head of a Secondary School; and have been tutoring privately since 2001.

Tutoring Approach:

I am passionate about helping students get the best from themselves. I approach each one as an individual, as if he or she were my only student. I design my tutoring around a student's specific needs and individual way of learning. Personal Description:
I am very enthusiastic and friendly, with my brilliant linguistic and social competence being exemplified by my knowledge of five different languages. Due to my exceptional academic background and love of children, I would be excellent at helping your child excel in the subjects which they need help with. I am happy to travel to all parts of London, so please do not hesitate to contact me/ request an informal interview, as I understand the importance of finding some-one who is respectful and reliable to perform this role.

I have been offered to do a Masters at the University of Oxford, in Language Sciences, on full funding.

Teaching Experience:

I am currently teaching 18 students ranging from the ages 5-19 years, but I would be happy to accommodate for any ages. I tutor Latin, Biology, Chemistry, Physics and English, and have am currently studying at UCL, the 4th best university in the world.
I normally tutor for 1 hour per session for only 15-20, which is a humble amount considering my qualifications; I would like to hope that most children can have access to private tuition, not just those who can afford the help.

Please feel free to contact me if you have any queries; I would be delighted to provide references upon request to exemplify how satisfied parents are with my communication skills, motivation and the success that their children are achieving.
If you are keen to simply learn the English language to a more coherent level, I would also be glad to help.
I prepare older students predominantly for G.C.S.E, advanced subsidiary/advanced level (A level) and international baccalaureate.

Tutoring Approach:

I am open to helping people achieve any level which they desire, and assess/ approach each pupil's learning on the basis of their individual ability, as opposed to using the same materials for all of my students. This way I can ensure that I can target the specific needs of the pupil, which is why you will see them excel in their subject very rapidly! I also find that a tutor's enthusiasm for the subject is mandatory; many pupils that are failing/ unmotivated in their subjects because they have not had the right support and enthusiasm from subject teachers in their academic environments. In short, I believe that if the tutor genuinely cares, then the student will grow to also.

Personal Description:
I am a student at the University of Oxford reading German. For my A Levels I studied German, English Literature and History and received A*, A* and an A. For AS I also did Mathematics and for my GCSE's I studied: Maths, Dual Science, English Literature, English Language, German, French, History, Art and Drama.

Teaching Experience:

I worked in a primary school for 6 months in my gap year, primarily teaching reading, writing and mathematics to the younger years as well as art, sport and IT skills. Previous to this job, I taught a German club at a local primary school and have worked on a charity literacy scheme, where I tutored reading and writing one on one to a child who was underachieving for his age group. I have also done other volunteer tutoring at a primary school, reading one on one with the children and improving their literacy skills.

Tutoring Approach:

I think it is best to discuss together what you feel you need help with or needs to be worked on and from there we can assess how best to proceed. I prefer you to bring your own material to me as from this I can see what it is you are struggling with, how advanced your school work is and the level you are aiming for.

I am currently studying English Literature at the University of Edinburgh. I love reading, writing and reading some more. I also enjoy sketching while listening to music. I am a frank person, have an straightforward approach to everything in life and like people to behave the same way with me (which always does not happen). I love to have a laugh, but don't worry, I can be serious when needed( for example, when teaching your children English and History).

Teaching Experience:

While I have never tutored for money, I have an extensive tutoring experience. I volunteered to teach illiterate students English as a part of a volunteering program from my high school in India and have been a part of that program for the past two years. I also used to tutor my two siblings in History, Geography and English.

Tutoring Approach:

I feel that children learn best in a stress free environment. If they feel it is fun and challenging, they will be more willing to learn than if they feel it to be an obligation. English is an easy subject and children enjoy learning it, once they realize the joys that English has to offer. History can be challenging due to the vast amounts one has to learn by heart but steady habit of writing down answers to questions helps more than reading the material ten times. Other than that, History is a vastly interesting subject which helps us understand the workings of the present society and of course, knowledge about our ancestors. Geography is relatively straightforward subject. A lot of practice and a dedicated perusal of it should be enough to get good scores. While it can be relatively dry, it can be made interesting with pictures and videos.I focus on exam technique, past papers as well as text work (English Lit.)

Personal Description:
I'm a recent graduate with both a BA and an MPhil in Philosophy from Cambridge University. I've taken A Levels in English, Mathematics, and History as well, and am very comfortable teaching all these subjects.

Teaching Experience:

I have tutoring experience at both A-Level and University level, in addition to experience with small group teaching at Cambridge University, where I taught first year undergraduates in classes of 10. At the other end of the spectrum, I have an 11 year old sister and am very used to helping her out with homework, and know the challenges involved in teaching young kids too.

Tutoring Approach:

I place a big focus on being friendly and approachable to students, to help make sure they feel relaxed, which I believe is very important for effective leaning. I like to make sure I understand where they are finding things challenging, and why, but also where they are succeeding, to build confidence by emphasising achievements as well as areas for improvement.

Personal Description:
I have been teaching for 10 years in a range of schools across Teesside. I will support children to achieve their best no matter what ability they are. I will work alongside and their current school to support what they find difficult. I use a range of strategies and resources to engage and enthuse my students so that they can achieve their potential. I provide a fun and friendly atmosphere in order for my students to achieve. Being a Primary Teacher I have taught all Primary subjects but my strengths are in Maths, English, ICT, Science and Music. Some of my parents said about me: "You have been such a positive influence on our daughter and she has loved having you as her teacher". "You are an exceptional tutor and I feel that the loss of your ability and personality will significantly reduce the fabric of the school". "Thank you for all that you have done for our son during Year 3. He has enjoyed everyday of school and I believe that is down to you".

Teaching Experience:

I have taught in a range of schools across Teesside but have always upheld the same vision. My vision for education is one where every child is both different and special. Although each child may learn in different ways I believe that, if they are to learn to their full potential they need to be exposed to a well balanced, broad and meaningful curriculum. It is important that they are provided with a learning environment that not only facilitates their learning by different strategies but one in which the children want to learn and have fun. I believe that an atmosphere where the children are not afraid to make mistakes, where what they are learning is relevant and one in which they are treated fairly, irrespective of their social background, colour or gender, will help them to become independent learners. I believe that children have a right to their own opinions and must be encouraged to respect the opinions of others when differing from their own. They also have a right not to be bullied, ridiculed or intimidated.

Tutoring Approach:

I have tutored on a 1:1 basis during my time in school, helping one child get from L3 to L4 in maths in Year 6. My approach was to reinforce what the child needed and to always put their needs first. I would use anything that I felt appropriate that would engage and get the best out of my students. I am an energetic, hardworking person who is fully committed to raising standards. I provide a friendly and fun learning environment with excellent management skills whilst having high expectations from the children. I am not afraid to take risks that challenge the children and to introduce new methods in my teaching in order to get the best out of my students, myself and that make my lessons fun and exciting. The student is the priority in the lesson and I am prepared to make sure that they succeed in what they are trying to achieve no matter what stage the child is at.

Personal Description:
I am a young, female primary school teacher in the Doncaster/Wakefield area. Aside from my enthusiasm for teaching and helping children to achieve, I am interested in academic areas including sociology and languages. I enjoy travel and reading. I have worked voluntarily as a teaching assistant and completed a degree in Sociology before training to be a teacher. I now work as a supply teacher at primary level and as a personal tutor to primary and secondary level children. I hold an enhanced DBS check dated December 2013.

Teaching Experience:

I am a qualified primary school teacher who has taught classes of all ages at primary level. As a supply teacher, I have worked in many different schools and, as such, I develop positive relationships very quickly with both children and adults. I enjoy working with individuals and small groups in academic tasks and find that children are very responsive to this lower teacher-pupil ratio. I have found that working in these situations really helps to boost children's concentration and confidence in their work. They also feel more comfortable to ask questions in areas they find difficult. When tutoring, I am to create a positive, friendly and professional relationship where children feel comfortable with what they are learning, but also feel they can ask for help when required.

Tutoring Approach:

I recognise that children learn in many different ways - some by seeing and visualising, some by talking and discussing, and some by doing a physical or mental activity. I aim to tutor children using the learning style that best suits them. In a classroom, it is often difficult to meet the needs of every child. Personal tuition provides children with valuable one-to-one time, where the focus is on them and them alone. I believe that personal tuition does much to increase achievement in those weaker areas, but also serves to challenge and develop knowledge in stronger areas. Following a free initial consultation, I provide personalised programmes of study tailored exactly to meet the needs of the child involved. I am passionate about helping children to reach their full potential and will do all I can to make this happen. Sessions take place in the child's own home and are arranged on a flexible basis with parent or guardian. I can provide tuition from 30 minutes per week to more intensive programmes consisting of several hours per week in the school holidays.

I currently have slots available on weekday evenings and am available most Saturday mornings and early afternoon. I am not available on Sundays.

Personal Description:
I`m a University of Toronto alumnus (BSc) and certified teacher (BEd, DBS) working as an online tutor for A-level and degree students. I'm able to offer assistance on essays, exam preparation and other assignments for the following subjects:

Psychology
Statistics
English Literature
European History

I'm known for being a calm and patient tutor, able to teach material in the way that best suits the student I`m working with. I've helped students create outlines for their essays, understand different theories in psychology, conduct and comprehend statistical analysis, analyse literature, edit papers and learn strategies to absorb material efficiently before exams.

My aim is to make tutoring for university and college students affordable, so I offer a discount for long-term students and also for long appointments. I do all of my tutoring online, mainly via Skype and similar programs, and also by email for essay editing.

Don`t hesitate to contact me if you have any questions.

Teaching Experience:

In the UK, I have experience tutoring for two years in London, Surrey and Norfolk, and I`ve also tutored students for three years across a number of Canadian universities, such as the University of Toronto.

Tutoring Approach:

For A-level and degree students, I'm usually asked to provide assistance with a specific task. For example, I've helped my students construct outlines in order to structure their essays, answer typical questions that will come up on their exams, and proof read their essays to check content, clarity and grammar. I can also clarify theories that are difficult to understand and help students generate ideas for their thesis.
