| Personal Description: I am an experienced, qualifed primary teacher based in North Wiltshire. |
Teaching Experience: I have been qualified as a teacher for 8 years, currently teaching Year 3 and 4, but with a huge amount of experience teaching Year 5 and 6. As a result I have an excellent knowledge of the Key Stage 2 SATs requirments. I have a strong understanding of the needs of primary aged children, including those who need some support to help them work at an age appropriate level and those who maybe need a bit of a stretching! I have experience working as a tutor for children ranging from 6 to 14 years old. |
Tutoring Approach: All children thrive on praise and this is where I base my tutoring. I use regular assessments (often the children don't even realise the assessment is happening!) to help me gain an understanding of both the child's strengths and weaknesses. I strongly believe in using a variety of resources and strategies to help children engage in their learning. I work hard to tailor my lessons to the child's interests, As a result I have become an expert on swimming and Transformers! |

| Personal Description: I am an experienced teacher and professional writer offering private tuition in English and other humanities subjects. My qualifications include a degree in English from Oxford University, and an MA and PhD in Philosophy from Essex University. I have taught English to GCSE and A level, and Philosophy in universities and colleges. I'm also a published author with considerable experience in journalism. Based in Crystal Palace, South London, I generally teach students from Dulwich, Streatham, Beckenham, Croydon as well as Sydenham and Upper Norwood. |
Teaching Experience: I spent two years full-time in a secondary school, teaching English at all levels from 11 to 18, including Oxbridge entrance, and then taught GCSE English in further education. I have nearly a decade's experience as a lecturer in higher education, teaching Philosophy and Critical Thinking. Along the way, I have also taught English as a Foreign/Second Language and for Academic Purposes to a wide range of groups and individuals. An experienced private tutor, I am familiar with the requirements of the main exam boards. |
Tutoring Approach: It's generally acknowledged that one-to-one teaching is a good way of promoting learning, but the key to making it really effective is tailoring tuition to the student's needs. Whether it's a matter of remedying gaps in knowledge or fast-tracking a bright pupil, my approach combines academic rigour with a genuine attention to the individual. I aim to provide a thorough grounding in the subject, as well as developing the techniques needed for success in coursework and exams. As a published writer with a background in secondary, higher and further education, I'm well-equipped to motivate students, showing them how the skills they are acquiring now will help them to realise their potential in future. I find that an initial meeting with a student and, if appropriate, a parent (free of charge) is invaluable in establishing which direction a course of tuition should take. |

| Personal Description: I am a languages teacher specialising in English, EFL, Italian, Spanish, and French. I am passionate about languages and travelling and that is why I became an EFL teacher shortly after leaving school. I then went on to teach abroad (Spain and Italy), where I learnt to speak these languages fluently and also to experience the cultures of these countries. After my experiences abroad I came home to the UK to do my university studies (Spanish and Italian) and to develop my teaching career in EFL further by becoming involved in teaching English for Academic Purposes (EAP) at University level (UCL London, and Bath University). I am also now an EFL teacher trainer at UCL and at Bath University. Regarding my students, I think it is really important to motivate and encourage by helping people to enjoy their learning experience. I now live in Bristol and am looking for local tutoring work to supplement my univeristy work. I am also a mother and so working on a part-time basis is now a more flexible option for me. |
Teaching Experience: 15 years EFL teaching experience in both private schools and at University level. I have taught Spanish, Italian, and French at private language schools in the UK and provided private tuition in these languages. I am an EAP (English for Academic Purposes) tutor helping adult learners with essay writing and proofreading. I have over 5 years experience as a teacher trainer (CELTA and DELTA) |
Tutoring Approach: My starting point is to establish students' needs / goals and then to tailor materials and content to these needs. I choose topics which will interest and motivate my students. I also like to use film, television clips, and music where appropriate since this makes the language come alive. I am very encouraging and sensitive to issues connected to confidence and motivation and believe that it is very important to foster a positive learning atmosphere which will encourage learner independence. I am particularly interested in teaching online and using technology to support language learning |

| Personal Description: My name is Kande and I am a fully qualified teacher (Lecturer) currently employed by a very well known Ofsted Outstanding FE College in London. I have previously worked in commerce and industry (working for big organisations like Unilever and Sainsbury's) and I have a wealth of industry experience in the fields of Accounting, Finance and Business Management. I am also a part qualified Chartered Certified Accountant (ACCA) having passed 13 out of the 14 professional Exams. On a personal level, my friends, work colleagues and other people who know me will describe me as well organised, honest, reliable, dependable, patient, hard working, determined, caring, committed and responsible with a good sense of humour. I am also very friendly and approachable. |
Teaching Experience: With regards to my teaching experience, it dates back to many years when I had to work as Teaching Assistant to University Lecturers during my national service. I enjoyed the experience so much I promised myself to become a Lecturer myself one day. During this period, I assisted my allocated mentor in preparing and delivering lectures in Accounting, Auditing, Economics, Business Finance and Business Maths. My main involvement was in the preparation and provision of group and one to one tutorials to undergraduate students. During my PGCE program, I experienced teaching again where I was placed in an FE college for my practical training. Here I was involved in curriculum design and development, lesson preparation and delivery to students of different levels and abilities ranging from entry levels to level 3 (BTEC, Access and A Levels). I also have experience of home tutoring Key stage 1 learners in the Thamesmead area. Within four weeks of my tutoring these children, they were moved to the highest ability group in their class in both English and Maths. I also tutor my own children who are always top of the class in their level. As a professionally qualified teacher, I have in-depth knowledge and understanding of both the National and Vocational Curriculum and assessments as well as coursework and exam preparation and marking. I have worked with learners of varying abilities and have developed strategies for individual improvement and achievement of practical educational goals. |
Tutoring Approach: As a professionally qualified and experienced Teacher/Lecturer, I have developed a well structured and target-orientated approach to teaching. I believe in structured, individual approach and my sessions are tailored to abilities of my learners - after assessment and often after consultation with school subject teachers and parents where appropriate. I have the ability to establish good personal rapport with all my learners and my sessions are praised for being friendly, informative, understandable, good-humoured and relaxed. |

| Personal Description: Hi. I am a qualified secondary teacher and I specialise in English and Maths 1-2-1 tuition, from primary (KS1 and KS2) to GCSE level (KS3 and KS4) My teaching degree was completed successfully at Manchester Metropolitan University which is an 'outstanding' teacher training course provider who received a 'Grade 1' by Ofsted in 2010. I am quite flexible with regards to the times I can offer for the private tuition sessions. I am currently contracted to work in schools through Kirklees doing 1-2-1 tuition with children from Years 7-11. I am a fully qualified teacher and hold PGCE & QTS (qualified teacher status) I am also a registered member of the GTC (general teaching council) and a member of ATL 'The Association of Teachers and Lecturers' and also the 'NASUWT' |
Teaching Experience: I have had an extensive range of experience teaching across many different schools in West Yorkshire. I have taught at KS1, KS2, KS3, KS4 and KS5 levels in schools around West Yorkshire. I have also worked with special needs (SEN) children in schools across the Kirklees area. The work was very rewarding and this made me not only work harder but also allowed me to enjoy the work I was doing, this really motivated me in all aspects of my teaching. |
Tutoring Approach: As a teacher, I feel that any child who is lacking academically in their general work or their confidence needs to have some sort of additional help to equip them with the knowledge and skills which will be essential for them to use in the future. One to one tuition will allow your child to develop their understanding in areas of Maths and English which they might have found difficult to understand in school. It will also allow myself to help your child in specific areas of Maths or English which they don't feel confident with. I will try my utmost best to gather information about your child prior to them starting the tuition sessions such as gathering their reports from school and also their test and exam grades to help me identify their areas of weakness. |

| Personal Description: I recently graduated from Drama Centre London, top of my year, with an MA in European and Classical Acting (which incorporated a real focus on Chekhov and Shakespeare). Although in essence a practical course, it gave me a wealth of experience in 'unlocking' classical language and style, interrogating character and thematic devices. This built on my BA degree in Theatre, Performance Studies and Literature from Warwick University where I graduated with a 1st. I specialise in deconstructing all forms of literature and thrive in finding ways to get my students to actively engage with the text. I have taken part and personally facilitated workshops on Shakespeare at spaces including: The Globe, universities in Japan, Stratford Circus and Warwick University, and this has given me a wealth of experience and tools to access classical text. I am incredibly passionate about making text accessible and figuring out what works for the individual student. I have been an experienced tutor of Drama and English literature since my time studying at Warwick University, and more recently worked in Russia tutoring a 12-year-old girl for Public School Entrance Exams in England (which she successfully gained entry for). I also run workshops and one-to-one session on audition, technique for students preparing for drama school auditions. |
Teaching Experience: Teaching Experience Private tutoring: Two years' experience of private tutoring at A Level/GCSE in English Literature; Drama (performance and text work); English as a foreign language; Tutoring for 13 + Entrance Exams; Drama teacher/Workshops; Warwick University Youth Theatre, facilitator for Stratford Circus; Saturday Circus skills; Curious Directive (theatre company), workshops on Macbeth at various Japanese Universities. Additional Experience Different Every Night: Mike Davis Workshop at The Globe (2011) Teaching Shakespeare: Shakespeare's Globe Theatre (2011) Ecuador Volunteers: Teacher of English as a Foreign Language (2009-2010) I first started leading workshops for children through the Warwick Arts Centre Youth Theatre, where I became a Youth Theatre Leader for the 14-16 year-old age group. For a year, I led workshops for three hours every Saturday morning in which we explored different types of storytelling, movement, and music culminating in a show we co-wrote at the end of the year. I also directed for Warwick Arts Centre 'Play in a Day', which is all in the title really! I had a large group of 4-8 year-olds and we had the day to devise a play to perform to parents in the evening: a tiring but exhilarating day! I have since gone on to lead workshops using theatre in prisons, youth groups in London and in Quito, Ecuador. This September I was so excited to return to facilitating workshops in 'Circus Skills' at Stratford Circus. |
Tutoring Approach: I have worked with students across all ages and this has made me comfortable in adapting my approach to each student's specific requirements. Unlocking text to make it accessible and exciting is of upmost importance to the way I work especially when it comes to classical text. Feeling removed or finding themes irrelevant to modern life are challenges that I often face with students, and I am passionate about removing these blocks. I also believe that an appreciation of literature, both classical and contemporary, is important and makes a difference to performance across the board: encouraging a critical approach improves analytical skills important for all subject areas, and helps in writing well-balanced, well-structured essays. My training as an actress enables me to provide an innovative and stimulating approach to the individual student. I work hard to encourage confidence in each session, as this not only improves engagement with the subject but also helps develop a strong individual writing style. I tend to figure out what approach works best for each student over the first few sessions and structure lessons accordingly so as to maximise learning and overall enjoyment of the subject. I am a high achiever and extremely conscientious with regards to all elements of my work. It this attention to detail and a strong work ethic I intend to impart to students, be it in structuring revision plans, planning essays or analysing text. The importance of proficiently organising work not only improves success but dramatically decreases stress levels, which is something I have found to be the biggest block for student preparing for difficult exams and auditions or school entrance exams. |

I also have a postgraduate degree from the University of Edinburgh and a diploma in theater directing from LAMDA. I am passionate about English and having originally studied it as a foreign language and excelled in learning it to Oxford University standard I genuinely think that anything is possible if the desire to develop is there! I am also an avid reader and am constantly developing and learning myself, I have been known to literally hoover up books all in one so the passion I have for my subject gives me a lot of patience to try and inject that into the people I am working with. |
Teaching Experience: -2 years teaching drama and theatre studies for children 16-18 as part of the Orange Tree Theatre youth theatre in Richmond. -Furthermore I have been leading workshops on GCSE level Shakespeare (scenes from Romeo and Juliet and Macbeth) in schools across Richmond and Barnes areas. -Volunteer reading assistant to 14-18 year olds, making kids excited about reading and learning locally in Finsbury Park. -Nightline listening service volunteer. |
Tutoring Approach: Having completed a degree in English at Oxford University I am a passionate advocate of in-depth one-to-one tuition process and work on the premise of creating an Oxford style tutorial for the pupil, which makes me an ideal candidate for any Oxbridge interview preparation. Very much like an Oxford tutor I believe that the success of any teaching process is the ability to ask the right questions and give the pupil a chance to answer them without leading them too much, one never learns if given the answer outright. It is also important to find the right language to communicate with the pupil and tap into their interests outside of academics to help them relate to the subject at hand. Alongside this it is important to help the student succeed in an exam situation as well as develop a more holistic interest in learning. So I put a lot of time and effort to research exactly what they need to do in order to excel in their grades and then once we no longer need to worry about that we can enjoy the process together. |

| Personal Description: I am a third year student at Glasgow University, studying Geography with Scottish Literature and English Language. I studied French in my first year and all throughout secondary school. I achieved six A's at Higher and two A's at Advanced Higher (French and Geography). As such, I would be happy to tutor up to Advanced Higher level English, geography and French (and including early university level in some circumstances). I would describe myself as patient and cheerful, as well as enthusiastic about my studies, which always seems to help keep me going around exam time! I am happy to tutor either from my home or to come to yours - I have a driver's licence so I can easily travel within and around the Glasgow area. |
Teaching Experience: I have experience tutoring English in the past year, and I tutored a young secondary school pupil during my final year of school, for French. I also have experience doing voluntary work with young children. |
Tutoring Approach: I believe that equal measures of patience, diligence and creativity are vital when trying to latch onto any subject. When I was at school, my favourite subject was English, but it is only now that I study literature at university that I can look back on my progress and understand how I got to grips with essay writing. Struggling to understand what makes a good essay and the structure required is what seems to turn most pupils off essay-driven subjects, so I would be pleased to concentrate greatly on this and to try to break down the process into something more understandable, approachable and manageable. I understand that every pupil studies and learns in a different way and thrives in different environments, so I would definitely take this into account with each pupil I tutor. As I have been through every year of exams at secondary school, getting more and more demanding and stressful each time (!), I have eventually discovered my personal study style, but in honing this to my own preference I have tried and experienced different methods along the way, some of which work for some people and some of which work for others. Most importantly of all, I aim to strike the balance between a relaxed and equal student:tutor relationship (which I think is the main point of having a tutor closer to the age of the pupil, as it gives a refreshing change to the classroom environment) and actually getting the work done and seeing progress in the allotted time. I would plan and punctuate each study session with appropriate breaks and perhaps more enjoyable ways to test what has been learnt, like using study cards, etc, at the end of a session, but all the time making the very most of the time given. |

| Personal Description: I qualified as a journalist in 2011 and have since been occupying my time with freelance writing in conjunction with building my own web-site and more recently, PR Agency. I have a keen eye for sentence structure and recognise when a piece of work is lacklustre or is simply not conveying the important elements with clarity. Furthermore, I enjoy clean copy and therefore have the capabilities to perfect a clumsily executed piece of work without hindering the individuals own sense of style and unique expression. I take the aforementioned sense of loyalty very seriously, as I do not wish to encroach on an individual's distinctive writing technique by over- influencing the piece with my own style. This is where my ability to understand and digest tone comes in to its own. I will edit a piece of work while maintaining its identity as belonging to the individual who produced it and therefore, I work to merely repair the broken elements without obstructing the original integrity behind writing the piece in the first place. Gained A, B in A-level's English Literature and Language respectively |
Teaching Experience: Tutored in University assisting second language speakers with essay writing technique and research. Taught English as a second language in India and Nepal. Currently tutoring a 4-year old girl, with whom I re-read classroom texts and make sure that she has understood the content. I use a mixture of phonetics, verbal and written practise as well as visual prompts to encourage her. She has made vast improvements. |
Tutoring Approach: As a a native speaker, you would benefit from my natural flare for words and be inspired to increase your own vocabulary and command of this beautiful language. I would encourage individuals to learn a new word everyday, read as much as possible and listen to story tapes and set texts in audio format. I would inspire in them the confidence to believe in their skills and help them to develop a love for a language that until now, perhaps they were otherwise unsure about. Discipline is a crucial part of learning and therefore I would insist that the student practises his/her area off weakness as frequently as is possible and where appropriate I would set additional homework. |

| Personal Description: I am a motivated person, well organised and good with time keeping. I enjoy working with children and young people, helping them achieve to the best of their ability and much more. I am able to create a stimulating learning environment for my tutees. I am also able to work well with anyone and working with parents to enhance their child's learning. I believe that the key to a successful future is education therefore i work hard with my tutees to help them achieve their goals. |
Teaching Experience: I have worked with children of different ages and abilities. Working with children has helped me to develop as a tutor. This had made me realise the different abilities each child is at, how to use the correct learning technique and how to approach different kinds of work based on the subject. For me it is important to ensure i am aware of how each individual child learns, as every child is unique and different from one another therefore their way of learning will also be different. |
Tutoring Approach: Finding out learning styles, test papers to find out level of learning so i can enhance learning and knowledge further from that point. |

| Personal Description: I am a 31 year old male living in Worcester. I like sports and keeping active. I have done two Camp Americas in my early twenties, which I thoroughly enjoyed. This led me eventually onto doing a TEFL course where I taught English in China. Now, I am a Primary School teacher working in Herefordshire. |
Teaching Experience: I have been teaching now in the UK for almost two years. Even though this may seem a short period of time I have been fortunate enough to teach Years 2,3,4,5 and 6 already. My method of teaching brings in fun for the children as well as learning something easily. My aim is to always get the best out of the children I am teaching. I have taught in China for 9 months previously where I was responsible for teaching 14 children and adults at different times. I was also given the responsibilities of teaching 1-2-1 whilst out there. This I thoroughly enjoyed. From this, I can speak basic Mandarin. |
Tutoring Approach: I am happy to travel to tutor or have people come to my house to be tutored. I will use all sorts of resources to help the person learn. I believe that enjoying learning and doing different tasks always helps people learn. |

| Personal Description: I decided to start tutoring after my experience in trying to get tutors for my own children. As a professional working internationally I thought it would be easy to hand over this important element of their education to someone with both experience and patience. My notion was quickly turned on its head. The Tutors I found taught textbook style with the one shoe fits all approach. My children and others didn't fit into that mould. I very quickly realised that I could do a better job and took the role in house, initially teaching my own daughters before extending out to their friends. To date I have tutored over 50 children who have gone onto their chosen schools and streams. I believe that tutoring should be about delivering skills to children that they can carry with them throughout their young lives and provide a solid platform on which to develop. |
Teaching Experience: Have tutored key stage 2 and 3. 11 plus students and common entrance applicants. Recently started to tutor mildly dyslexic students in English comprehension and Language. Currently writing essays for publication in English Literature and Sociology and Business GCSE and AS level. As well as E papers for 11 plus students. |
Tutoring Approach: I love seeing peoples enthusiasm toward a subject which I also share the same excitement towards however I am also passionate about helping people who may need help or are looking for methods to improve their skills in these topics. |
