Personal Description:
I am an honours graduate of computer science and electronics. I spent 17 years in corporate management before becoming self employed as, among other things, a freelance lecturer. I am a professional life coach and tutor for enjoyment.

Please note, I will generally add a call out fee to the tuition fee shown, which goes some way to covering petrol and time in getting to you and home again. This is usually 6 or less - I can confirm the final figure with you when I know approximately where you are.

Teaching Experience:

I taught freelance for Bedford College for 4 years, and have been tutoring for 9 years. I have qualifications in adult teaching, and my coaching qualification also helps a lot.

Tutoring Approach:

Effective tutoring is a wonderful opportunity because I can tailor what I do very specifically for the student I'm working with, and that's as much about their personality and stress levels as it is about the material we're working with. I believe in teaching understanding rather than isolated rules, it builds confidence and security and does not rely on memory. My sessions are as relaxed and fun-filled as I can possibly make them without sacrificing the learning task before us.

Personal Description:
I'm in my early fifties, am married with four children, the youngest of whom is still at home. I have 30+ years experience of teaching all ages from pre-school (I used to child mind) to A level and FE students. I have taught children aged 4-14yrs in an Independent Christian School and I have English GCSE to adults. I help people who have particular difficulties and those who just lack confidence. I help people to see their very real strengths and to build on them, showing them techniques for learning and improving their writing style, comprehension skills and spoken English in a way that suits them as individuals. I always make sure that whether or not you want to pass exams, the English you use is fit for whatever need you have - so if you just need help in speaking to Doctors and nurses in hospital, I can help with that or if you want to start at Uni I can meet your study needs too at whatever level. I am extremely passionate about education and have a purposeful approach which takes account of students' individual learning styles. I am happy to travel to you at a cost of 40p per mile but if you prefer to come to me, that's fine too.

Teaching Experience:

I have taught in homes, Primary and Secondary Schools, Colleges and Community Centres. I have taught workshops on how to apply for a job as well as teaching English as a foreign language and even adults with learning disabilities. You can see from this that I am a teacher who loves teaching - education is my passion! I also love reading and researching so I can help people with dyslexia and other learning difficulties. I have been trained in this area and I have always taken opportunities to improve my teaching skills. My students are very proud of their achievements in exams etc but most of all they thank me for building their confidence and allowing them to work at a pace which suits them so that they really enjoy what they are learning. I have taught the Cambridge ESOL qualifications Using the CLT technique from the CELTA qualification which I gained last year) as well as GCSE English language and Literature. I have experience of teaching on the one to one tuition scheme in Primary schools as well as class teaching. My most recent experience is as Head of English in a school for children with moderate learning difficulties, especially autism aged 11yrs to adults.

Tutoring Approach:

I like to give personal attention to my tutees and to tailor the lessons to their needs but am happy to teach up to 3 people together to reduce costs if that helps. We work on Language skills such as pronunciation, vocabulary and grammar in ESOL lessons with plenty of practice for tests if needed and when studying literature at a higher level, I encourage my tutees to relate what they are reading to current issues and events in the world so that it is relevant and interesting for them. We have lots of fun but at the same time we work intensively, reading aloud to proof read and learning strategies for spelling, punctuation and organising essays etc. It is a great way to prepare for further academic study and I can help to prepare students for interviews or to give that all important presentation which could lead to promotion. We offer Home Stay at our home which is a riverside Victorian Railway station in the heart of particularly attractive countryside with visits to sites of Historical interest, practice with English speaking in our family from 350.00 /week negotiable according to visits selected.

Personal Description:
I recently retired from teaching where I had been a class teacher and held posts of responsibility from core subject leader for English, Maths and science to Special Needs coordinator, Behaviour Manager and more recently a Head and Deputy headteacher.
I have loved working with children for well over 30 years and believe there is no better or more fulfilling a job than to work with children. I also know, having had 7 children myself, that they can be challenging and frustrating as well as wonderfully fulfilling.
Children get one chance to succeed. We as parents often feel frustrated and helpless when trying to help our children understand a concept they are struggling with. Our lack of understanding of the method, a lack of confidence in our ability to support them and their reluctance to have 'mum or dad' show them leads to frustration.
This is where a tutor can help both parents and child. We all need a little help or support at some time. This can be a short or long term programme of support - a confidence boost or a more structured programme of support. This is where an experienced hand is invaluable.
I am very caring and supportive teacher who prides himself on preparing an individual support programme to meet the needs of the tutee and is delivered using approaches to match their learning styles and utilising approaches that support their learning.

Teaching Experience:

I have taught in secondary and primary schools for over 30 years. For the last 25 years I have a been a primary school teacher and senior leader specialising in supporting children with special needs and especially those less and more able pupils with English and Maths.
In addition, I was a mentor in local secondary schools where I was responsible for supporting pupils aged 11-16 in a number of curriculum areas. These study skills, exam preparation, as well as, curricular areas like English, Maths and science. Many of whom where tutored on an individual basis.
I have worked for 2 years now as a tutor. Most of my students come from referrals from my current parents, which I take great pride in. I am confident that the children I tutor receive the highest quality support because work is individually prepared for them, their progress is monitored and parents see the results very quickly.
I also work as an independent TEFL teacher working with children from across the world aged from 5 -50 years. Some of these are groups but I now specialise in one to one support which enables me to use my tutoring skills to greater effect.

Tutoring Approach:

As a tutor I believe it is important to follow some very key principles.
1. Always start from what the tutee knows therefore I always start with some sort of baseline analysis. This is always carried out in a very informal and relaxed manner. This enables me as a tutor you need to identify what he/she can and cannot do.
2. I am always happy to work closely with the tutees school if agreed/wanted to identify areas they are working on to support school work.
3. Work in an environment where the tuttee feels safe and comfortable. Very often this is at home in an area to work quietly.
4. Make the learning as much fun as possible and as appropriate and individual to their needs.
4.To create , as quickly as possible, a relationship with the tutee. They need to feel safe, comfortable and at ease - this makes both learning and teaching more effective.

Personal Description:
I have been a teacher all my professional life, although for ten years I worked in the theatre as an actor, fight director and singer. I love teaching and I love music. Most importantly, perhaps, I have never stopped learning!

Teaching Experience:

I have been teaching English, French and German for 25 years. I studied English at Oxford; worked in Germany, studied in Spain and have my main home in France. My first GCSE Spanish class all achieved A* and A grades. I recently trained in Teaching English as a Foreign Language, so I feel up to date with current teaching methodology. Nevertheless, I adapt my teaching style and methods to benefit my tutees. I teach adult evening classes and give private tuition in French, Spanish, German and English Literacy.

Tutoring Approach:

I will come to your home and talk to you about what your learning requirements are and will tutor in order for you to maximise your potential in line with your requirements. All tutees have different learning styles and preferences, too, so I will pick up on yours and shape our lessons accordingly. We will work proactively, and there will be specific goals and targets for each lesson so that you will be able to chart your progress. My colleagues think I have a great sense of humour, and I have sometimes found it to be helpful in a teaching situation. I am, however, totally professional in the conduct of my lessons and tutorials.

Personal Description:
I am Scottish, currently living in London since December 2012. I have a home in Spain where I enjoy the outdoor life, in particular riding my horse and walking my dogs. However, my two sons and my little grandson live in London and so I am spending valuable time with them and enjoying city life for a change. I also teach yoga and have recently started a class in Newington Green.

Teaching Experience:

I am a graduate of Glasgow University and a PGCE qualified primary teacher with over 25 years experience. The breadth of my experience includes special needs, in particular with children on the autistic spectrum and dyslexia. I have lived in Spain for several years and have worked in International Schools as Year 3 and Year 5 teacher and also as a private tutor. Having worked extensively as a private tutor with different nationalities I am also experienced in EAL.

I have been working as a supply teacher for the last 18 months here in London so am now well versed in all aspects of Primary Education as it is implemented here.

Tutoring Approach:

Communication, for me, is the key to harmony. As a tutor, I believe in locating where the individual is on his/her own personal road map. Thus I can gain an understanding of what the child/young person's needs are and how they view the world and their place in it. From there we can establish together what their motivation is and so learning becomes an exciting journey. I believe that if children are happy and motivated they cannot help but learn but it is crucial to identify the learning style and communicate accordingly.

Personal Description:
I am a teacher of Spanish and French with QTS (Qualified Teacher Status) living in SW London. I hold a B.A.(Hons) in Politics, Philosophy and History from the University of London and I am also qualified to teach ESOL (English to Speakers of Other Languages). I have lived in London for nearly 20 years now and in all this time I have worked in administration and finance prior to returning to the teaching profession.

Teaching Experience:

Since my return to teaching eight years ago, I have taught French and Spanish up to A level in several secondary schools across London and Surrey, both in the private and state sectors. I have followed specifications from various examination boards -mostly Edexcel and AQA- for both GCSE and AS/A2, therefore I am very familiar with the exam requirements for those courses. I am also an examiner of French GCSE with Edexcel and have tutored privately many students of all ages and levels in the languages mentioned above.

Tutoring Approach:

I always try to tailor my lessons to the age and needs of my students, make them as enjoyable and purposeful as possible by using a variety of resources and activities, e.g. games, role plays, laying emphasis on learning for communication purposes. My aim is to help students develop their ability to use the language effectively in everyday situations whilst providing them with a solid foundation in the grammar so that they can produce their own language independently. For me one of the most gratifying aspects of tutoring is to see how much students benefit from it and appreciate your one-to-one input, and how quickly they make progress as a result.

Personal Description:
I am a qualified teacher with a Master's degree in English Literature. I have also recently graduated with a First class Honours degree in Physiotherapy from Salford University.

While studying for the Physiotherapy degree I have undertaken tutoring work online concentrating on study skills assignment support, and proofreading.

Teaching Experience:

I have experience of teaching within a local college and taught students from the age of 16 years old and above. This was primarily focused on Literacy and Study Skills. During this time I also taught students from a range of EU and international students focusing on their grasp of English as a second language. During this time I followed a Government-set curriculum to help students achieve G.C.S.E. equivalent grades to allow them to progress onto Access courses and beyond.

During my last degree I worked with students with learning difficulties including hearing impariments, dyslexia and dyspraxia. This involved notetaking, assignment structure and time management skills. More recently I have worked as a tutor online helping with essay planning and structuring, proof reading and correction of written work for spelling, grammar and paragraph restructuring, time management and organisational skills, referencing and completion of reference lists and proofreading for Further/Higher education students, up to Masters level.

I also have experience of helping international students in terms of organising the study skills, supporting them, and mentoring them on their difficult academic journey. I have also recently assisted with international publishing projects, mainly in the healthcare field

Tutoring Approach:

I take a structured and methodical approach to helping students and believe that if the right foundation is set and appropriate planning implemented, the student will achieve to the best of their ability.

For all assignments work I use a University-based academic writing skills format currently in use at the University of Salford.

I am offering tuition online, via email. Once we have agreed the way forward I will give you an honest appraisal of what services I am able to offer and the time that this is likely to take.

I am happy to send references if required. I have a CRB check from my Physiotherapy degree which will be updated by my current employer.

Please note that I am unable to write your academic assignments for you as this would be unethical.

Personal Description:
I am an enthusiastic, creative and highly experienced teacher of English language and literature, recently retired from the full-time secondary school teaching post I held for 23 years, at an independent girls' school in Lincolnshire. I taught throughout the school, at Key Stages 3, 4 and 5, and have a strong proven commitment to raising academic standards; my students have achieved consistently excellent GCSE and A Level grades. Although I have a particular passion for teaching literature, I am a rigorous teacher dedicated to raising standards of literacy through my teaching of English language, and to the educational and personal development of young people more widely, especially those in transition to higher education.
As well as teaching my academic subject, I have been a sixth form personal tutor for 18 years, monitoring my students' academic progress, and guiding and mentoring those applying to university, assisting with UCAS applications and personal statements, or helping tutees plan for a gap year or for employment - a role which I found particularly fulfilling. I also have experience of teaching in further education and have been successful in teaching mature students from different cultural backgrounds.
In the past two years I have supervised sixth form students taking the AQA Extended Project Qualification. I greatly enjoy one - to-one tuition.
In a career spanning more than 40 years in all, I have built up extensive subject knowledge and teaching expertise, which I can adapt to students ranging from 11 years to adult.

Teaching Experience:

In my most recent post, which I held for 23 years until my recent retirement, I taught English Language and English Literature throughout the school: to pupils aged 11-14 at Key Stage 3, to pupils taking GCSE exams, and to sixth formers taking AS and A level English.
At GCSE and AS/A Level my pupils have obtained consistently excellent results. I have taught a very wide range of set texts for literature and have taught courses by different exam boards, such as Edexcel, and OCR, and the CIE IGCSE.
My teaching has often involved one-to-one sessions with pupils who need extra support and I have taught those whose attainment in the subject is modest, as well as higher achievers in English.

My teaching experience prior to this included teaching for a total of 7 years full and part-time in further education colleges, and I have also taught English as a foreign language for the British Council.

Since retiring a year ago from full time secondary school teaching, I have been tutoring privately, teaching students ranging from 15 to 21, assisting with preparation for GCSE exams, A Levels, and at university level. I have been tutoring students following a range of different GCSE courses and examining boards, including Edexcel IGCSE, Cambridge IGCSE, and AQA GCSE courses, both language and literature, and have been assisting with revision of a wide range of set texts, demonstrating my adaptability and expertise in quickly grasping what different exam techniques are required.

Tutoring Approach:

My approach to tutoring is a natural continuation of my approach as a classroom teacher. I am passionate about my subject and prepare lessons thoroughly and imaginatively. I begin by making sure I am fully in the picture with regard to the specific course being followed and the exam criteria, and use the exam boards' websites to source relevant materials such as past papers and teaching resources. I always have a clear lesson plan and realistic aim of what I wish to achieve in the time available. I like people and I am a friendly, outgoing person who will communicate successfully with a tutee; I enjoy the company of young people and am experienced in putting my tutees at their ease and building their confidence, which I believe is very important. I form productive relationships with those I teach and am good at listening to them and assessing their needs, and adjusting my teaching strategy accordingly. As well as preparing thoroughly, I mark work meticulously and give very detailed and helpful feedback, both in writing and orally. I set relevant work to be completed for the next tutorial, and monitor progress closely; I stay in regular contact with my students and/or their parents via email and phone.
I am a hardworking and sympathetic tutor with the interests of my tutees at heart; my aim is to help them achieve their full potential and gain exam success.

Teaching Experience:

I have helped to tutor friends for their GCSE, A Level and Undergraduate degree exams by making fun and interactive games that are more useful when revising. I have also tutored students in GCSE English AQA to help prepare them for their exams.

Personal Description:
I am an enthusiastic and motivated tutor who is extremely passionate about my career and the education of others. I have spent many years building a bank of qualifications to ensure that my knowledge and experience is second to none. I have many years experience in teaching but I'm also now working in the health and fitness industry. This industry has always been a huge interest of mine as I am also an international standard athlete so being able to combine this with my teaching career is amazing. I have a degree in Sport and Exercise Science but also have many qualifications including Advanced Personal Training, Nutrition, Pilates, GP referral which I am also qualified to tutor the syllabus of. I have excellent communication skills and build positive working relationships with my students. I like to think my students see me a positive role model, not just their tutor, and I have an extremely hard working ethic to ensure my students achieve their highest potential.

Teaching Experience:

I have spent 7 years teaching in a range of settings including primary and secondary schools, college and within the private fitness industry. Having previously based myself with a teaching agency due to other commitments this has enabled me to gain experience working with and educating both children and adults from all walks of life and varying abilities. Over the past couple of years I have taken the path more towards private tutoring to allow me to focus on helping individuals achieve to their highest potential. Having this broad experience across ages, abilities and subjects has allowed me to build skills around teaching methods and the most effective forms of learning for each individual. I have stepped away from a school environment now and focus more on tutoring within higher level qualifications for example, GSCE, A Level and NVQ qualifications. I still also work with numerous primary aged children in Maths and English. I work under OCR examining board so have a detailed understanding of exams and criteria so have a good understanding about the levels my students are working to.

Tutoring Approach:

My approach to tutoring is very much tailored and bespoke to the individual that I would be working with. Initially I would spend some time learning about my students and establishing which styles of teaching are most suited to them. I take a laid back and enjoyable approach to learning making sure my students feel comfortable and able to approach me with questions and be able to challenge me as well as me challenging them. I like to use both formal and informal assessments to ensure progression is being made and do this regularly to establish weaknesses and areas for improvement. I am creative and innovative in my tutoring and use a range of resources so that learner's are fully engaged.

Personal Description:
I'm an undergraduate at the University of Oxford studying for a degree in English Language and Literature. I have achieved As or A*s in all my qualifications and thoroughly enjoy being an academic. I'm passionate about both English and French so I find tutoring fun as well as rewarding.

Teaching Experience:

My teaching experience involves editing coursework essays for my peers and running study groups for A-level French and English classes. I have attended many seminars focusing on effective study skills and over the years I have developed my own highly effective systems of organisation, learning, and memorization which I aim to pass on to all of my tutees. I work with my tutees to find out how they learn most effectively and help them to turn their work into note forms which they can easily process as well as explaining any difficulties they come across in their subject.

Tutoring Approach:

In my tutoring I hope to imbue my tutees with an appreciation of their subject as well as increasing their understanding. I aim to make my tutorials enjoyable as well as educational.
In regards to French I have a strong grasp of grammar as well as an extensive topic based vocabulary which coincides with the A-leve and GCSE syllabi. My French tutoring focuses primarily on exam skills such as reading and comprehension, listening, writing, and speaking and I show my tutees how to maximize the marks they achieve in each section. However I also enjoy speaking French and I also hope to improve the fluency and understanding of my tutees in a conversational as well as an exam setting.
In regards to English I would work with my tutees to help them develop close reading and analytical skills which are invaluable when it comes to doing well in the unseen section of exam papers. I would also teach my tutees any relevant contextual information which surrounded their set texts and would explain why it is relevant and how to use it to pick up marks in exams. I have read the majority of texts which are set for A-level and below but if I were to come across a text I was unfamiliar with I read it and prepare notes on it in advance of any meetings with a tutee.
My tutoring can be tailored to suit the individual needs of each of my tutees. I hope to teach in such a way that my students can appreciate the joy in their subject as well as helping them to do well academically.
