Personal Description:
I am currently working in AgustaWestland, arguably the largest Helicopter Design and Manufacturing company. I recently graduated achieved a First Class (83%) degree in Aerospace Engineering from the University of Sheffield. I attained the top position in the University of Sheffield in my cohort.

My infatuation and aspiration to teach people is immense. I want to spread knowledge as much as possible. My A level results are as follows:

Physics 91%
Mathematics 97%
Accounting 95%

The following are my GCSE results for my core subjects:

Mathematics 95%
Additional Mathematics 93%
Chemistry 94%
Accounting 95%
Physics 92%
Urdu 90%

My obsession for programming, electronics and autonomy ranges back to when I was fifteen years old, when I transformed my remote control car into a computer controlled car. The hardware consisted of relays and ICs, interfaced via parallel port through programming in C++. My greed for hardware and programming was augmented by getting involved in university projects. My programming skills are best reflected through my 3rd and 4th semester's results, when I achieved 89% and 91%. During my university life, I programmed a conveyor belt to sort payloads of various sizes using Programmable Logic Controllers.

I also developed an intelligible GUI in JAVA and programmed SunSpots to control the motion of robots. I programmed PIC Microcontrollers in 'C' and Assembly Language using MPLAB in final year project. The circuit design primarily consists of two separate circuits. One was for Ground Station and the other circuit was for the Airborne System. The Airborne System was designed around a microcontroller, which was interfaced with GPS, accelerometer and Integrated Circuits (ICs). I am also proficient in designing Macros in Microsoft Excel.

Teaching Experience:

Due to my excellent academic skills, I have been given the task to act as a tutor to first and second year Aerospace and Mechanical Engineering Students. My role is to help students with their queries in all subjects. Examples include CAD drawings, Thermodynamics and Heat transfer module etc.

I was also assigned mentees during my GCE 'A' Levels to help other students with difficult topic.

Tutoring Approach:

I believe that the best way to explain any topic is by giving examples and relating them to practical world. Therefore, in general, I would be following the steps given below:

1) I would start by giving an overview of the topic.

2) Explain worked examples and theory behind the relevant topic

3) Give some tutorial questions to solve, so, that the student can test their own learning

4) Help them with problems related to tutorial questions

Personal Description:
I am a 40 year old Open University graduate with a degree in Computing, Science and Mathematics. I teach Computer Aided Design and ICT on a part time basis at local colleges. I pride myself in my work and offer friendly, relaxed and professional tuition to students on a one to one basis or in small groups. I am able to work at the pupil's home if desired and can travel up to 15 miles from my home. I employ innovative and effective teaching methods and make learning a thoroughly enjoyable and rewarding experience. I have a caring approach and always put my pupil's needs first, at all times.

Teaching Experience:

I have been teaching for nearly 12 months now, both in local colleges and in pupil's private residences. I thoroughly enjoy all aspects of my work and I believe this clearly exhibits itself in my tutoring sessions. I have experience of teaching 16-19 year olds as well as teaching the older generation. I currently teach Computer Aided Design at Wakefield College and ICT at Goole College as well as private tuition in mathematics and science, right up to AS and A level.

Tutoring Approach:

During my tutoring sessions, I make every effort to ensure the learning experience is both an enjoyable and interesting one. I use a variety of learning resources and tutoring methods to introduce a varied and innovative approach to the session. I always engage with the pupil and listen carefully to every one of their responses. I take the pupil through a carefully formulated learning program which is compiled from a detailed assessment of their tuition requirements; this is always discussed with the parent/guardian before the program commences, to ensure that they are happy with the arrangements. I am a very friendly and relaxed individual and I like to convey these feelings during my tutoring sessions and always try to make the pupil feel comfortable with the whole learning process and ensure I work at their pace at all times.

Personal Description:
I am a young, friendly and sociable individual with a passion for the sciences. I have just graduated from the University of Nottingham with a Bachelor's degree in Electronic and Computer Engineering, and am about to embark on a PhD at the school of Computer Science. When I am not studying, I enjoy playing basketball, music production, and cooking, so much so that I have taken up a part-time job as a sushi chef.

Teaching Experience:

I have provided GCSE and A-Level tutoring for the children of friends and family since I myself was doing my A-Levels. I was also awarded a level one peer-mentoring award for providing one-on-one academic and personal support for C/D borderline GCSE students with behavioural difficulties. I have also been involved with helping younger children with below-average reading ages to imprpove their reading skills on a one-to-one basis.

Tutoring Approach:

I aim to be a friendly and approachable tutor, as I think it is vital that tutees feel relaxed and able to ask questions. I tend to assess the strengths and weaknesses of each individual tutee and adjust the teaching style accordingly. I believe strongly in going above and beyond the curriculum (where appropriate), and understanding 'why' rather than 'what'. From my own academic experience, the ability to apply knowledge to unfamiliar situations or problems is much more beneficial in exam situations, and vastly improves the student's understanding. This is something I try to incorporate into my teaching style where possible.

Personal Description:
Postgrad student at the University of Manchester studying towards a PhD in Electrical and Electronic Engineering. Now I am in the third year as I started in Sep 2007. Expected Completion in June 2011.

Teaching Experience:

Before coming here for pursuing a PhD degree at the University of Manchester, I worked as Lecturer for one year at COMSATS Institute of Information Technology, Islamabad, Pakistan. I taught undergraduate courses to students in the Department of Electrical Engineering. Besides teaching, marking exams, tutoring students and supervising semester projects I acted as a course coordinator for the MS program of the university. Besides teaching at this university as full time employee, I lectured as a visiting faculty at other well known universities like CASE, ICT and SS-CARE. Exam marking was also important part of these part time teaching appointments. My job experience in the academia can be counted as two years in total.

Tutoring Approach:

My approach is based on understanding and I strongly believe that it should be according to the level of student.
I start from theory and techniques, than move towards problem solving sessions and
solving real questions from past papers.

Personal Description:
I am an engineer by heart, with A-level and degree-level backgrounds in Electronics, Physics and Mathematics. I am 26 and currently finishing my Ph.D into Microwave Electronic Engineering at the University of Leeds. My Ph.D relies on a solid grasp of these three subjects. I have presented my work at conferences amongst my peers, this requires a confident attitude to talking about the subject at hand and to be pitched at the appropriate level. I have work experience in the electronics industry to give substance to what I teach, with up-to-date examples of how these topics are applied and how they can be seen in our daily lives.

Teaching Experience:

I have had 3 years experience of teaching the undergraduates at the University of Leeds, in total I have taught six separate year groups and assisted in labs and practical exercises.

So far I have tutored two people on a one-to-one setting; one at GCSE level for Mathematics and English, the other at first-year degree level for the majority of his modules.

So far I have a 100% pass rate - each module/subject I have tutored has been passed by the student first time.

Tutoring Approach:

I believe that understanding a subject, instead of memorising facts and figures, is the true way to go forward in any area of learning.

In my experience I have found that each student has their own unique view and attitudes towards each of their subjects, so it is essential that a personalised approach to help them understand the subject is needed.

Once the student understand the framework of the subject at hand, adding knowledge to this subject becomes easier and more enjoyable to them than it originally appeared to be. I show the student how their subject consists of a constant theme with different elements to it, instead of the usual method of teaching what appears to be many arbitrary facts and/or formulae under the umbrella of the subject.

I believe that my tutoring style comes from remembering the way that I originally came to understand the problem at hand myself. I aim to not judge the student, but to encourage them to have an open discussion about the problem at hand with me. From these discussions I can understand how they grasp the topic and can help guide this to a fuller understanding.

I try to use many examples from different areas and often play on the similarities between the more abstract concepts of the learning material with areas which the student has an active interest in to give them a more familiar understanding to a subject.

Personal Description:
I am a post graduated engineer and have experiences in private tutoring. I also did some training in telecoms products. At the moment I am teaching computer subjects to a university student and also teaching foreign language to another person privately. I also helped some students at college with extra tuition in computer networking and computer architecture. I received very good feedback from the students and friends regarding the quality of my tuition. I'd like to join your group and expand my tutoring experience. I enjoy tutoring and that's the most important encouragement for me to continue it.
Thanks for your time
Deeba

Teaching Experience:

1- Telecoms systems training
2- Computer subjects including Website Design and Computer Architecture for university students
3- Extra tuition in computer networking and computer architecture for the students at Leeds College of Technology
4- Math and Physics for Secondary students

Tutoring Approach:

I will assess student's needs and type of lessons they want to have before I accept any studen. Then I will suggest details of charges and times for agreement.
My approach to tutoring is based on consistency. In order to achieve a successful improvement, student and tutor must stick to a program of routine lessons and development plan. Another important factor is motivation. A tutors role includes motivating his/her student.

Specific improvement plan will be tailor-made to the students specific needs and requirements. They will be involved to decide what type of lesson they want to have in their private lessons.

Personal Description:
Presently I am a teacher of Design and Technology at a boy's school in Surrey. I enjoy the challenges offered by the ever changing educational environment and am involved in the research of online learning and teaching, also known as e-learning. My specific area of interest is on-line collaborative learning and the design and development of online learning objects to facilitate self paced tuition.
I was born in South Africa and relocated to the UK even years ago to widen my horizons and further my studies. I have always had a passion for the transfer of values and attitudes through education and the development of life skills through active participation.
My role of assessor for the Duke of Edinburg's Awards occupies most of my spare time but I make time for running and participating in mostly half marathons.

Teaching Experience:

I started my teaching career in 1982 as a primary school teacher. One year later I was seconded to teach Biology at secondary level and was appointed Head of Department of Science in 1988 at a school in SOWETO (South Africa). After two years I was seconded to Funda Centre where I co-ordinated the in-service training for teachers of Biology.
After three years I was appointed as subject advisor for Biology in the Johannesburg Region. In 1997 I stared the Soweto Technology Project and retrained to become one of the first of several qualified technology teachers in South Africa. I participated in a working party that was responsible for drafting the outcomes based national curriculum for Technology in South Africa.
I joined the Rand Afrikaans University in 1998 as a lecturer and started the first university based technology centre for the post graduate training of technology teachers. I was co-author of the course material used for the BEd and MEd Technology Education degree courses. In 2002 I relocated to the UK where I initially taught Graphics and ICT at a maintained school. For the last five years I have been teaching Technology (Systems and control) an independent boys school in Surrey.
On a part time basis I have been tutoring pupils in preparation for common entrance examinations in Mathematics, Science, English, Verbal and Non Verbal reasoning.

Tutoring Approach:

I strongly support a student-centred approach rather than a teacher-centred approach. It is important to transfer both skills and techniques required to study effectively and reflect accurately on what has been achieved than just merely covering subject content. My personal experience has taught me the value of having the skill to access any available knowledge and develop some understanding thereof. This has now become more evident with the opening of the largest library in the form of the internet and the World Wide Web.
I promote the teaching of different learning styles and learning approaches and find it necessary to inform pupils of how the mind and the brain functions in order for them to develop their critical and creative thinking skills as well as their cognitive memory.
My intention is to lead tutees to higher levels of cognition than what is expected from through the curriculum which supports my philosophy of:
'Education is like hunting birds - if you aim where they are, you hit where they were'.

I am a hardworking person and I like teaching students.

Teaching Experience:

I am currently working as a Post Graduate Teaching Assistant at the University of Southampton. My duties are to help the Foundation year students with the Laboratory experiments and Problem sheets.

Personal Description:
With a Bachelor's in Electronics & Communication Engineering from India, I am an academically oriented person, about to begin my Master's in Experimental Psychology this year in UK. My interest in interdisciplinary research arises from a firm grounding in both physical and life sciences, which I pursued jointly up till A-level, and a general enthusiasm for understanding the world around me. In this regard, I view knowledge as a dynamic tool for creative work, without setting the limits of any particular field, and being able to see the bigger picture while appreciating the details. My approach to any subject follows this principle, where enthusiasm and appreciation go hand in hand with understanding.

Teaching Experience:

While pursuing my Engineering, I tutored a student with mild learning disability for 2 years, in English, combined Science and Maths, through his Year 7-9. The experience of teaching someone with special learning needs made me more aware of the different ways in which students perceive and acquire knowledge. Moreover throughout my student life, I have always believed that the best way to understand something is to teach it. Thus I have always loved to play the role of the teacher amongst my own peer and juniors, in school as well as college. My experience as a teacher is mostly about being able to transfer your holistic understanding of seemingly disjointed facts, to the student. Once this appreciation sets in, I have observed that the learning comes naturally.

Tutoring Approach:

Every student is special, and so is the approach. Hence my approach to tutoring is about getting to know what the tutee needs to understand, and how does he/she learn. My own experience as a student as well as a tutor, makes me realize the importance of constant feedback in a tutoring session. Any unit of knowledge is better grasped and remembered when it is approached through multiple channels. Thus it is important for the student to get a 'feel' of what he is learning through lots of doodling on paper, diagrams, examples from everyday life and any other medium of information one can use. Encouraging the student to discover the answers through his own methodical thinking, seems to me to be the best way of making the student realize his own potentials, while being gently guided throughout the process.
