| Personal Description: A maths graduate from the University of Liverpool. Since graduating I have gained significant experience in the commercial, education and charity sectors. a former Commercial director of a regional airport and later having set up the School of Artisan Food I have a wide range of work and life experience which all provide very useful material for my teaching. |
Teaching Experience: I have experience of private tuition dating back to my time at University. In recent years, I have taught Finance at the University of Derby and my module enjoyed one of the highest pass rates for the year. |
Tutoring Approach: My approach to tutoring is to help the student understand the subject, and not only understand the subject but also how the subject is applied in real life, and indeed to their own lives. I have found this really helps the student to be able to grasp the subject. We all want exam results, but I like the students to understand what we are doing as this way they get skills that will stay with them long after the exams are over. I am quite an engaged tutor who is responsible and adaptable to the student. I do not have a one size fits all mentality, in fact it is because I don't have this I enjoy private tutoring. I like to work with the students and build their strengths and help them with any difficulties they may be having. |

| Personal Description: I am a Cambridge Economics graduate (2.1) and a qualified Chartered Accountant. I have experience of working in the business world which adds, especially to my Economics tutoring. I have science A levels - Maths (A), Biology (A), Chemistry (B). |
Teaching Experience: I have been tutoring for over two years and enjoy it very much. I have, this Easter been teaching A level Economics at Magdalen College School in Oxford, (the school came 4th in A level league tables for Independent schools, as per Daily Telegraph 2013) on their Easter Revision course, so am very up to date with the material. I have had many great including one recent pupil achieved 100% in her Unit 1, AS level and another went from a U grade in unit 2 to a B grade. I have also trained as a coach and I believe this adds to my tutoring effectiveness. I have successfully tutored 11+ maths for pupils who have gained entry to Ibstock, Emanuel (for 2013 entry), Francis Holland and Mill Hill schools. |
Tutoring Approach: All of my pupils have made excellent progress and I am very good at explaining things in simple terms, as well as being approachable, friendly and results orientated. I have a natural rapport with children and they very much enjoy my tutoring and they make rapid progress, numerous of my pupils have been moved up into the top maths set. I would say I have an old-fashioned approach to teaching and make sure they know the basics but also I bring in things to make it more interactive for them - such as newspaper articles. I think it also helps that I have worked in the business world, so I have a much more in depth and real world based understanding of the subject. I make sure they have a good knowledge of graphs as there are good marks to be had for these! And that they can explain their arguments in a logical step by step fashion. |

| Personal Description: Hi I'm Niall and I'm currently working for a reputable, local, financial institution in Swindon. I graduated in 2010 in Economics at the University of Reading. My passion to teach started when I noticed younger family members were struggling at school, mainly in Maths. I tutored them all through KS1 - KS3 and GCSE level where they gained exceptionally high grades. |
Teaching Experience: Taught Maths to students aged 11-18 at a secondary school whilst in my second year at university. Taught Maths and English to students in Turkey at a primary school and secondary school. |
Tutoring Approach: Studying and revising shouldn't be a chore and I believe I can bring to life my subjects, even economics (nicknamed the "dull science"). Everyone learns differently and there are many methods to ensure the student is on the right learning curve. |

| Personal Description: I am a friendly and enthusiastic tutor, who enjoys helping students of all abilities realise their potential. I am a graduate of Oxford University and UCL with several years of tutoring experience. |
Teaching Experience: I have four years tutoring experience from GCSE up to degree level. I also have one year's experience as a class assistant for a GCSE Maths Class. Additionally, I have extensive experience in providing written feedback on coursework, essays, and university applications. |
Tutoring Approach: As well as explaining concepts and relaying information, as a tutor I try to encourage a dialogue that is led by the student. When I hear them asking relevant questions, or articulating ideas in their own words, I know that they have understood the material. My teaching style is informed by my positive experiences of the Oxford tutorial system. It is a widely praised system of teaching which helps build confidence and achieve strong results. Naturally, the student's needs will determine the content and structure of the lessons. So lessons may involve going through the syllabus at a pace which they find comfortable, improving their coursework, or bolstering exam technique. I can also offer help with university applications, and provide essay feedback. Testimonials: Jon is a great tutor! He's confident and very easy to get along with. He has helped me greatly with my economics A level, working with me in a interesting, efficient and effective way. Would strongly recommend him for anyone looking for a relaxed helpful tutor who makes learning and revising enjoyable. - Yanni Jon is a fantastic tutor. He helped my daughter overcome several hurdles in developing her understanding of Maths, which has given her more confidence in addressing exam questions. Jon is patient, attentive, and careful to adopt the pace of learning that is best suited to the pupil. - Henry Jon has really helped my son enjoy economics-which was not the case prior to his tutoring. He is reliable and has a very positive attitude to his students. I was very happy we found him-there has been an massive improvement in my son's work. - Melanie |

| Personal Description: I am 25 years old and am currently studying for a graduate medical degree at Hughes Hall, University of Cambridge. During the application process for this course I was required to sit the UKCAT aptitude test, where I achieved a very strong score (Section One: 730, Section Two: 860, Section Three: 790, Section Four: 730). I have recently left the Army as a Captain, having served for 4 years, including an operational tour of Afghanistan and various training exercises abroad in Belize, Brunei and Kenya. Most recently I was employed as a platoon commander at the Army Foundation College, Harrogate where I was responsible for training and teaching a platoon of 48 sixteen to eighteen year olds over the course of a year. Before I attended the commissioning course at Sandhurst, I achieved a 2.i in politics, philosophy and economics from St Edmund Hall, University of Oxford. My focus during this degree was towards politics and economics, with a particular emphasis on British political and economic developments from 1900 right up to contemporary life. I attended a state comprehensive school in West Sussex before I went up to university, where I took both my A-levels and GCSE's. During Sixth Form I took four subjects to A-level (Math's, Further Math's, Chemistry and History) and two subjects to AS-level (Physics and Economics), achieving an A Grade in all subjects. At GCSE I achieved five A*'s (Including Math's and Double Science) and six A's as well as an A in an additional math's qualification (FSMQ). Outside of my studies I am a keen rugby player and have represented school, college and my battalion; I currently play regularly for Bury St Edmund's Wolves. I also enjoy trekking, picked up whilst achieving my Duke of Edinburgh's Gold Award at school, which has led me on several expeditions, including traversing the entire length of the Spanish Pyrenees. |
Teaching Experience: As discussed above, my last job in the military was working at the Army Foundation College, Harrogate; a post I held for over eighteen months. During this time my responsibility was the teaching, training and welfare of a large platoon of sixteen to eighteen year olds. This included lessons on basic military skills going right through to looking at the Law of Armed Conflict and the contemporary political context of military deployments as well as offering assistance with their educational work in literacy, numeracy and IT. This teaching was delivered to groups ranging in size from over 200 people in a lecture theatre down to a one-on-one session in a classroom. There was a wide range of ability groups within my platoon, which has given me a good experience in how to tailor teaching towards an individual's aptitude and how to keep different people motivated. Overall my experiences at the College have given me a solid foundation from which to build on with my academic achievements and will allow me to offer high quality tutorials that engage and stimulate students as well as improve their prospects with regards to exams. Alongside tutoring for exams and specific subjects I also offer sessions on all aspects of UCAS applications. Having been successful through the application process twice (to both Oxford and Cambridge Universities) I have a thorough understanding of what is required to make your application stand out and how to shine at interview. I can offer advice to both prospective arts students as well as science students, with a particular emphasis on Oxbridge applicants - including the separate application forms, interview techniques and aptitude tests required. |
Tutoring Approach: My overall approach is to start out with an open and honest discussion of where the student wants to get to and a frank assessment of where they currently are, before moving onto drawing up a realistic plan and agreeing on our respective roles and responsibilities to achieve it. I use a coaching and mentoring attitude to teaching, whereby the student is given control of their own learning and I am there to facilitate that. I work from the belief that if the student does not take ownership of their own performance then their achievements will be a lot lower than their full potential. |

| Personal Description: I'm 21 years old, and I'm currently doing a Masters at LSE. Due to the workload I am unable to have a job which requires long hours, and therefore I thought I would give tutoring a go. I have previously attended the University of Birmingham where I studied Economics, and previous to that I was at Merchant Taylors' School. My A-levels were in Art, Maths and Economics. |
Teaching Experience: None. Still studying at University. |
Tutoring Approach: All my favourite teachers were those who made the lesson interesting, and were enthusiastic and so I would like to bring these qualities when tutoring. I may have had little experience but I have had experience on the receiving end. Therefore I know what I found interesting when tutoring and what I did not, and I think that making the subject stimulating will be the difference. |

| Personal Description: I am a student studying for my PhD. I just finished my first masters and am working on my second, as well as a research proposal for my PhD. I have been told by my peers as well as my previous tutees that I am a quite clear and proficient tutor. |
Teaching Experience: I have been tutoring my peers since when I was doing my A-levels, when I moved on to university I continued to tutor GCSE, A-level and University students (by the time I had finished my first masters). I have tutored people in politics, economics, philosophy, religious studies, english and arabic. |
Tutoring Approach: My aim is to teach students in a very comfortable environment, making sure they understand the content by using examples that they themselves are familiar with. I am quite easy going in my approach which allows for the students to be at ease when learning. My main concern is not the time but making sure the student has understood what is trying to be explained. |

| Personal Description: Hello! I am an experienced teacher and tutor, newly arrived in Cambridge. Professionally, I have a fascination for Mathematics (my undergraduated studies) as much as for Economics (my master degree). Personally, I am passionate about bass guitar playing, running, and kitesurfing! I have many work experiences. From wading pool lifeguard to teacher, with even a daycare educator experience, I always worked with young people. I have also taught in many institutions, from secondary schools to universities, to students of all age groups. I am primarily specialized in the teaching of Mathematics and Economics. However, I also master the French language, my mother tongue, and I would be more than delighted to help you to learn this beautiful language. |
Teaching Experience: I have taught, during one year, a course of Statistics, and a course of introduction to research in Humanities and Social Sciences in a Canadian cegep (the United Kingdom equivalent of a Sixth Form College). Also, I have been a teaching assistant for a Microeconomic course at the University of Montreal, which required me to provide tutorial sessions and to grade exams. I have also taught Mathematics in two different secondary schools where, in addition, I have organized study groups for students with academic difficulties for more than a year. For many years now, I have been a tutor for students of all academic levels. I also have been a mentor for the association of Big Brothers and Big Sisters, in Montreal, during three years, providing help for disadvantaged teenagers in need of academic and moral support. A lot of those teenagers needed a lot of help with their French writing. I did a lot of grammar and writing exercises with them. Some of them also had many difficulties to read in French, so I helped them with that too. |
Tutoring Approach: My tutorial approach is flexible enough to fit every kind of student's learning style. I am a really structured teacher and I prepare my tutoring sessions with care in order to adapt them to the precise needs of the student. My first priority is to create an atmosphere of trust, and to communicate my enthusiasm about the subject I teach. This goes naturally for me since I am still young (27th years old) and very sociable. I am also very creative. I have developed, with all my tutoring experience, many approaches to explain the different mathematic or economic concepts. My teaching experience allows me to quickly identify the weakness of my students and to help them improve. I think the best way to progress is to practice, so I usually provide many selected exercises. I am also really sensitive about my tutee's feedback and I can adapt the tutoring sessions following their comments. |

| Personal Description: I am very self-driven and have strong self-discipline. I work hard for my students and for myself. Having been a keen learner, I achieved 8A1 in Singapore-Cambridge O-levels as well as 8(A+B) in Singapore-Cambridge A-levels. The Singapore Cambridge exam board is usually harder so rest assure I'm familiar with the content. I hope to give you my best so that you can achieve your personal best. |
Teaching Experience: I tutored a few students who failed in Mathematics and Physics before being tutored. I guided them for 3 months, and the achieved excellent results like 80marks, 95 marks and 100 marks. I gave tuition for about 8 months and had to quit because I come to the university. |
Tutoring Approach: I teach the student learning methods to help them learn more effectively instead of giving them all the dull content to memorize. Hardworking and open-minded students will learn fast under my coaching. |
