Personal Description:
Having completed my undergraduate degree in Philosophy, Politics and Economics at Oxford University, followed by a Masters degree in Politics with distinction, I am now a speechwriter and chief of staff to a member of the House of Lords who is the former CEO of a FTSE100 company. I am very keen to share my enthusiasm for my subject areas with students. Whilst at university I was involved in a wide variety of activities, including editing a magazine, conducting an orchestra and captaining a squash team, so I understand the pressures students face to balance academic studies with extra-curricular activities. By providing effective, valuable tutoring, I hope I can ease these pressures.

Teaching Experience:

With five years' experience of the Oxford tutorial system (including a period conducting admission interviews for undergraduates), and two years' experience writing high profile speeches and newspaper articles, I can provide challenging, engaging and friendly tutoring at a variety of levels, including to those preparing for applications to Oxford or Cambridge. I offer a particular focus on rigour and precision when it comes to students expressing themselves; in my experience, this can make all the difference when it comes to an academic or entrance exam. The broad nature of my degree means I can offer tutoring in Economics, Politics, Maths (including statistics), German and French, all of which I studied at A Level or university myself. As a post-graduate student of politics, I can also offer particular expertise here.

Tutoring Approach:

I have a real passion for my subject areas, and I believe that an enthusiastic tutor is the first step in enabling a student to achieve their full potential, whatever level they may be studying at. For exciting, dynamic tutoring from someone with extensive experience of one of the most admired teaching systems in the world, please get in touch!

Personal Description:
I am a University of Oxford graduate in Modern History and Politics. I worked for a year in the charity sector and then completed a joint MA in International Development and Politics. I have previously worked in educational non-profits as I am passionate about giving everyone the opportunity for a good education, and the benefits of education.

Teaching Experience:

I have taught abroad, in both India and Kenya, to a mixture of ages. I also have experience working with Japanese students as a Teaching Assistant on an Oxford summer school. These experiences have helped me learn how to explain myself concisely and clearly, to overcome not only the difficulty of the subject I was teaching, but the language barrier also.

I also have experience tutoring students who wish to apply to Oxbridge, to help them with what they will face at interview, and with their personal statements.

I have over three years and 300 hours of tutoring experience in multiple subjects.

Tutoring Approach:

I am a very interactive tutor who asks lots of questions and helps a pupil understand what is being taught. I like to provide tools which they can apply to their personal study when I'm not directly helping them.

I like to encourage lateral thinking and links with society and life, for instance, in economics I would discuss current economic news to help understand economic concepts being learnt and to apply the learning.

Personal Description:
Accounting and Finance are my fields of interest and apart from having an MBA in Finance I am also a CFA (Chartered Financial Analyst) Charterholder. Upon graduation I joined a commercial bank and worked for over five years in Corporate Banking. However, I have now taken an extended leave from the hectic life of corporate banking to enjoy my time in my lifelong passion of teaching.

While tutoring my students I attempt to assess the student's level of understanding and then work my way from there by using relevant examples tailored for his or her level of understanding. Thereby I attempt to develop in her/him a genuine interest in the subject/course which motivates the student to not only perform better at the exams but also to gain a deep understanding about the course which helps in future endeavours.

Teaching Experience:

I have always enjoyed teaching and have tutored students of all levels. I pride myself in working with even the weakest of students and helping them to perform successfully at exams. Some of my teaching assignments include:
- Taught cost accounting to two of my colleagues while doing my MBA. Both had flunked in the course in the earlier semester, however, cleared the course with a solid B afterwards
- Tutored an A level student in Financial Accounting to secure desired grade
- Taught Accounting and Statistics to a degree level student for eight weeks and enabled him to obtain desired grades in both the courses
- Prepared a CFA Level I student for the exams providing special assistance in statistics, economics and finance

The beauty of Accounting, Finance and Statistics is that if your concepts are clear and you put in reasonable amount of effort you can secure maximum marks easily.

Tutoring Approach:

While tutoring my students I attempt to assess the student's level of understanding and then work my way from there by using relevant examples tailored to their level of understanding. Thereby I attempt to develop in them a genuine interest in the subject/course which motivates the student to not only perform better at the exams but also to gain a deeper understanding about the course which helps in future endeavours.

"Tell me and I'll forget; show me and I may remember; involve me and I'll understand." (Chinese proverb)

Personal Description:
I am a 21 year old econometrician in the media industry. I am from the Caribbean and very easy going. I believe that anyone can be taught anything with the right assistance and guidance. I am also an avid volleyballer playing for a London club.

Teaching Experience:

I have experience in successfully assisting my former classmates and current colleagues in passing their examinations and achieving excellent grades. I see tutoring as a method of expanding my teaching experience to help others obtain their goals

Tutoring Approach:

My approach to tutoring is to ask the student what they know about the subject area and ask them where they need to go. These questions allow me to have a grasp of how far the student has been progressing and where and what needs to be done to reach the level required. I will channel their focus in the direction they would need to be. If necessary I will go back to the fundamentals of the subject area and build on the basic principles to increase productivity and growth in the particular area of study

Personal Description:
I am an Economics graduate from Liverpool University and currently teach in a good secondary school as well as running my own business. Prior to teaching I worked in business for 10 years. I live in Bristol, am married with 3 young children and I am passionate about helping young people achieve their potential.

Teaching Experience:

I have been teaching Economics and Business Studies in state schools for 8 years. I have taught both A Level and GCSE students. My students have consistently over-performed - for example over 75% of Economics students have achieved A*-B in every year I have taught. In the recent June 2013 A2 exams, 91% Year 13 Economics students achieved A*-B. As well as teaching larger groups of students, I have also helped many on a one-to-one basis, providing significant added-value and a marked improvement in their performance. All students I tutored in 2013 improved at least one grade since I started working with them, with several improving by 3 or more grades. For example, one recent A2 Economics student went from a grade D overall in January to achieving a final grade B by June, whilst another A2 student went from a grade B to a grade A and achieved 100% on an AS resit paper. I am an experienced Economics examiner and am familiar with all the major exam boards. I can supply references on request and I have a current CRB.

Tutoring Approach:

I will always begin by discussing my tutee's individual requirements and areas of the syllabus they would like to focus on. Once these have been established, I usually start with a return to basics, teaching economic or business theory that may not have been fully understood by the student. Once they are comfortable with the concepts, I will look to build in higher order analytical and evaluation skills as well as providing real world examples. I will use a variety of teaching methods to stretch students, backed up with exam technique by practising past papers. I am happy to teach face to face for local students, however I often teach online via Skype, using a whiteboard facility, which my students can also access. This makes the sessions as interactive as meeting face to face and it also means I can tutor students who don't live in Bristol. I always encourage students to provide feedback so that they receive maximum benefit from their teaching.

Below are some testimonials from current and recent students:

"Ian is an incredible tutor, who can prepare you not only for the Economics lessons, but also for the A Level exam. Before came to him, I struggled to understand Economics and was predicted a C. However, Ian helped me to understand all the economic concepts and theories, using up to date examples and YouTube videos and I achieved a grade A at AS level. Half of the lessons I had were via Skype since I was abroad that time. That's why I would especially recommend Ian for those students, who don't have the opportunity to come to his home. On the whole Ian is a brilliant Economics teacher, who will definitely help you to succeed in the subject" Miss B - Bristol and Russia

"Ian is a friendly and helpful tutor. He is punctual for his lessons and flexible with his timings. My son retook his EC2 paper in January 2013 and secured 100% after getting tutored from Ian. This is an improvement from a grade B prior to Ian's tutoring. Ian helped my son tremendously in his exam technique and boosted my son's confidence in the subject and the ways to approach his exams. My son was able to achieve 100% only because of Ian's teaching and from his dedicated effort. I would easily recommend Ian to anyone needing a tutor." Mrs D - Swansea

"Ian started tutoring me in late September and since then my Economics results have improved and I achieved an A grade in my final A2 exams. I have found Ian a very helpful tutor who is more than willing to go through my questions. We go through essays and past paper questions which aid my understanding and confidence in Economics topics. Ian taught me online and I found that Skype was highly convenient in allowing me to not have to travel to Ian" Mr B - Chepstow

"I contacted Ian since I felt that I needed help in understanding the context and concepts involved. Ian style of working was particularly effective. He helped me to improve my understanding of the subject matter by logical explanation and by building from basic principles to a more sophisticated awareness of the subject. Ian was always very patient and sympathetic to my learning needs. He was well prepared for our sessions, and always set me work to do independently as well. As a result of Ian's support I feel that my capability in Economics increased significantly. When I started working with Ian I was achieving at around a grade C. As a result of Ian's support I achieved an overall grade B at AS, the actual grades for the 2 papers were an A and a B. I thoroughly enjoyed working with Ian and would happily recommend Ian as a tutor for Economics. I will be continuing to have him as a tutor through my A2 course" Miss B - Redland, Bristol

"Ian has tutored my son in Economics on a one to one basis in preparation for the recent AS exams. My son was struggling with the subject at the beginning of the year, gaining an E grade in his Mock exam in January. With Ian's help his confidence improved and he was delighted to attain a B grade this summer. Ian's approach was personalised and intensive and my son's needs were concentrated on fully. He was always punctual and reliable and struck up a good relationship with our family. My son is now looking forward to completing his A2 Economics course and we will continue to use Ian's services throughout this year. I would gladly recommend him" Mrs W - Redland, Bristol

Personal Description:
I am a graduate in BSc Accounting and Finance from the LSE external degree programme where I studied under a full scholarship for four years. I am committed to becoming an expert in the field of Economics and Mathematics and currently tutoring full-time before going to study MSc Economics at LSE starting September 2015.

Outside of university and in addition to tutoring I work as a swimming instructor for Fusion leisure centres and Nuffield Health teaching pupils ranging in age from 2 to 40+ in individual and groups lessons on a weekly basis. I have been in this role since 2009 and have thoroughly enjoyed it I also find it a nice complement to tutoring.

Recreationally I swim up to three times per week and play five- a - side fortnightly a remnant of my more sporting days as a school and college student. During that time I competed on many sports teams including Rugby, Hockey, Water Polo and Cricket.

Teaching Experience:

I have been a Mathematics and Economics tutor for 4 years in this time my reliability and skill has enabled me to develop a good reputation which has allowed me to have a consistent base of 12 - 16 students on a weekly basis.
I have had great successes evidenced by this year's A-Level results where a student who originally scored an E as AS- Level achieved an A grade at A2 Level after 8 months of help and I also had two pupils admitted into their first choice secondary schools after passing their entrance tests.
Prior to this I tutored Mathematics and Science for friends and family successfully getting 3 students through key stage 3 and GCSE exams.

I have also been a swimming instructor 2009 and have been very successful at motivating pupils to achieve remarkable progress. Additionally I have 12 years of experience as a Saxophonist with my highest official examination being a Grade 6 Jazz exam.

Tutoring Approach:

My teaching approach embodies a long term approach to learning I teach students in a way which will allow them to be successful in higher study as well as their more short term exams. I also try to make students more confident in their abilities overall not just the material I teach.

I strongly believe that a solid understanding of basic principles is the foundation to success in academic study. I concentrate a lot of time and energy on instilling these basic principles in students.

I am also a strong believer in understanding over 'rope learning' I ensure that pupils understand what they are doing and why they are doing it, never encouraging them to simply regurgitate what they have seen previously.

I also encourage practical understanding of concepts frequently referencing real world examples and using objects to illustrate theory as I recognise that theory on its own given no relevance is harder to remember. Supplementary to this I also relate teaching material to potential job roles and tasks which I have knowledge of (mostly Banking or Business related) in order communicate usefulness to students and keep things interesting.

Finally I believe teaching successfully is ultimately about listening to your students I constantly encourage students to question things and express anything they don't understand or are not too sure of. If a student looks unsure or hesitant about something I will ask open questions or get them to explain concepts to me in order to fully grasp their understanding. This also helps build their confidence and ability to express themselves accurately.

Personal Description:
Hi I'm Niall and I'm currently working for a reputable, local, financial institution in Swindon. I graduated in 2010 in Economics at the University of Reading. My passion to teach started when I noticed younger family members were struggling at school, mainly in Maths. I tutored them all through KS1 - KS3 and GCSE level where they gained exceptionally high grades.

Teaching Experience:

Taught Maths to students aged 11-18 at a secondary school whilst in my second year at university.
Taught Maths and English to students in Turkey at a primary school and secondary school.

Tutoring Approach:

Studying and revising shouldn't be a chore and I believe I can bring to life my subjects, even economics (nicknamed the "dull science"). Everyone learns differently and there are many methods to ensure the student is on the right learning curve.

Personal Description:
I have a very high level of mathematical understanding and very good explanation of the subject area. I am intuitive, passionate about the topics I study and aspire to become an investment banker in the near future. I have had internships at global banking corporations which has pushed me harder to succeed in life.

Teaching Experience:

I have had relative experience teaching students mostly at GCSE level preparing them for exams a few months prior. Currently I have a small group of students whom are getting ready for their assessments, therefore, I teach in groups. Also I have taught individual students in the past from primary through to the end of GCSEs. In the experience I have had teaching, my students have received minimum A grade in the past

Tutoring Approach:

My approach to teaching is all about positive reinforcement. I use mini games and different techniques to enhance and enjoy learning. I believe this helps students reach a higher level of knowledge and success. I am efficienct and practical in explaining problems and solutions due to time restrictions. Using a diverse range of structure and use of resources, the student will achieve a better grade than when they first started.

Personal Description:
I have spent many years accumulating a wide range of academic qualifications, and my work has often primarily consisted of passing on my knowledge to others in a form they can understand. I get a lot of satisfaction from helping people to understand something they thought was beyond them. By virtue of having studied several subjects at a high level, I empathise with the feeling of finding something difficult, and have the patience and technique to get past this. I am not a single-subject specialist who might find it difficult to understand why others struggle in their area of expertise.
For students who are preparing for exams, my knowledge of examination technique, and an empathy with the marker, should be invaluable. I always keep in mind the importance of the student's goals, but never take myself too seriously.

Teaching Experience:

My whole career has been geared towards some form of teaching. I have trained groups of adults and children, as well as individuals, in elements of mathematics, psychology, actuarial science, pensions, and even tennis! Recently I tutored my 14 year-old son (who attends a sports academy, not a mainstream school) in three IGCSEs, for which he obtained excellent grades.

Tutoring Approach:

I look at what is important for the student. I emphasise clear, logical ways of working, and clear presentation. I make sure that they realise that they not only need to understand why they are doing something, but they must also be able to explain it clearly. Explaining a difficult concept to someone else can often be the best way to make yourself remember it. I am calm and patient, and English is my first language, all of which can help when a student finds something tricky.

I am consistently available for tutoring during weekday daytimes. I will sometimes be available in the evenings and at weekends, but this will be by arrangement and should not be relied upon.

Hi I am Rieman. I am currently studying at London School of Economics and Political Science(LSE) in BSc Actuarial Science. This is a discipline that applies interrelated subjects, including mathematics, statistics, finance, economics, probability to assess risks in insurance, banking, finance and across other industries and professions.

I started teaching because I enjoy mathematics and economics-related subjects and motivate others to find similar enthusiasm in these subjects.

I have given private tuition to a number of pupils with excellent results. I offer friendly, relaxed lessons individually or in small groups of students, tailored exactly to what the tutee requires. My aim is always to raise the achievements of my pupils above their expectations with my lessons.

I am able to work at home or in the pupil's home or any suitable place outside and can travel up to about 15 miles.

Teaching Experience:

I have more than three year`s experience in 1:1 as well as 1:5 teaching Mathematics and Economics.
I have strong interest in Maths, Economics and Biology. I obtained Country Highest in Economics at O Level and consistently obtained 90+ marks in Maths.

Tutoring Approach:

I aim for a relaxed and comfortable but efficient method of tuition by working through problems, explaining difficult areas clearly.

Confidence is gained through clear explanations and examples, and guided problem solving.

Personal Description:
I am Amram , a former student at the University of Manchester and a visiting tutor at St Edward's School Oxford . I am extremely enthusiastic and passionate about teaching. I am a very patient person who believes that most difficult of things can be explained in simplest of ways. I truly believe that everyone has got A*s in them which can be attained with a little guidance and hard work . I am very conscientious and enjoy the satisfaction of helping someone improve and achieve levels of attainment that they did not think they were capable of doing.

Teaching Experience:

It started off in the university about 6 years back and gradually I started getting a lot more students than I had anticipated mainly because of my methods and explaining the most difficult areas in simplest ways using everyday examples. I have taught students from a wide range of background and for many examination boards AQA, EDEXEL,OCR, MEI, IB, JEB,CIE, IGCSE, including home schooling students.
I do past papers from the last 10-15 years and I make sure that my student thoroughly knows all the exam solving techniques and has complete knowledge of the subject.
I have taught more than 300 students all across UK majority (85-90%) achieving A grades

Tutoring Approach:

I like to tailor my tuition depending on the student's individual needs , I understand that each student is unique and i respect that.
My first step towards a new student would be to understand and assess their weaknesses and strengths .

I may use different styles of teaching methods, depending on the student's ability and attitude. My main method is I would first listen to the student's problems and help them to come to the correct solutions , making sure that they understand and are involved in each and every step. I give my students the necessary confidence to ask any questions at all without any hesitation. More often I would use everyday life experiences to explain what I teach. I may use reductionism method . i.e. breaking down a large problem to small parts when its appropriate . This method can be very efficient dealing with problems in maths, physics and chemistry.

I have learnt through my tutoring experience, the main reasons why students achieve lower grades. they are… Lack of Knowledge and Understanding in fundamentals , lack of exam practice, lack of time management skills during an actual exams, lack of knowledge and practice to recognize keywords/key sentences in exam questions, proper writing skills and all these factors lead to LOWER SELF CONFIDENCE. So I would put lot of emphasis on the above factors in my tutoring practice to give the maximum opportunity to my students to attain an A grade because I am not willing to settle for less.
"All I need is 6 months to turn an C into an A "
I teach all areas between London and Reading .

Personal Description:
I am an extremely enthusiastic and determined individual, with a deep interest in mathematics and the allied sciences. To this end, I have participated in many Olympiads and have attended several maths and physics masterclasses in London, as well as two summer schools.

I'd enjoy the opportunity of tutoring at GCSE and A-level as I am not only confident at these stages, but enjoy breaking down concepts into their simplest forms, a skill I initially found challenging when I first started tutoring.

I am currently studying maths at Christ`s College, Cambridge. I therefore have a solid grounding in both maths and physics, which is constantly being refreshed and challenged!

Teaching Experience:

Tutored both A-level and GCSE maths over a period of 6 months last year.

Tutored my cousins in GCSE physics and chemistry 2 years ago.

Ran economics 'help sessions' for my school's economics society

Tutoring Approach:

Tutoring must be adapted for different styles and levels. I have tutored a range of students previously, and understand that different people learn at different rates, and in very different ways. I would look firstly to cement the basic concepts so that students have a firm grasp of each topic area. I then try to challenge the students as much as possible, to allow the tutee to gain confidence whilst constantly recapping on the basics.

Maths and science subjects must be tackled with significant practice - multiple questions on similar topics allows students to consolidate their learning and see the links between topics.

Personal Description:
I am a recent graduate in economics of the LSE and I am currently in the process of completing a graduate diploma in mathematics with the University of London (so far heavily outperforming the average in examinations). In late September I start my master's degree at a top-40 globally ranked business school.

I am reliable and responsible individual. I currently work part time for a major charity in Sheffield in fundraising project management. I am looking to become a private tutor to raise some additional funds to cover the cost of living during my master's degree studies.

References and academic articles can be supplied on request.

Teaching Experience:

I am responsible for assisting with the induction and training of new volunteers during my current role. I have often taught others during my time at university and very much enjoyed the experience. I now have considerable experience teaching A-Level and GCSE maths and economics over the past year.

Tutoring Approach:

I believe that it is crucial to impart a developed understanding of the subject to create solid foundations and then build question answering techniques on top of them. This will allow students to improve their confidence in tackling exam questions whilst building the enthusiasm and general problem solving abilities that they will need to be successful at university. I will certainly be living in the Derbyshire area until late September. I am willing to build long term teaching relationships in which the learning requirements of each student are understood and responded to, thus allowing their capabilities with the subject to be developed as quickly and as thoroughly as possible.

Personal Description:
I come from a long line of education. Having gone through O Levels, A Levels, Undergraduate and Postgraduate degrees has given me the knowledge and understanding of a wide range of topics. I took all three sciences during O Levels and carried on with Biology and Chemistry to start a degree in Biochemistry. I am very proficient in English and Mathematics where I have achieved an A in both. I also went to do a Masters degree where I studied Business Finance, therefore I can say I have a wide range of expertise.
I am currently working as a Business Analyst and am generally free over the evenings and weekends.

Teaching Experience:

I have been tutoring in Biology, Chemistry and Mathematics for a long time. I started tutoring during my high school where I have been involved in various peer tutoring groups. I have also been in the committee of the Model United Nations and used to teach the incoming delegates how to make resolutions and how to be confident in speaking.
I used to also be a part of the debating society giving me the opportunity to teach other students how to carry out a proper debate and how to produce a flawless argument.

Tutoring Approach:

I generally believe that education can be fun if you are taught by people who make it fun. I try to engage with the student with a calm approach and work towards making the student feel comfortable while teaching. Being young and friendly, I know I can use these approaches to relate much more with students.
I have worked with individual tutoring and group tutoring, knowing that if the tutor shows hard work, it shall be reflected in the student.

Personal Description:
I'm a second year undergraduate at the London School of Economics, where I'm studying for a BSc in Economics. I achieved 8 A*s at GCSEs and As and A*s in Chemistry, Biology, Economics, Further Maths and Maths at A-Level.

I'm a really friendly person and can get along with anyone and everyone. I believe it's important for a tutor to be able to make a student feel comfortable and at ease, so they're not embarrassed to request help or ask any questions they might have.

I previously studied at Woodford County Grammar School, where I was a senior prefect and represented my school in athletics. In my spare time, I'm a keen swimmer and jogger. I also paint and have been featured in local newspapers for my artwork.

Teaching Experience:

I have worked at two local primary schools for over a year now, assisting with Maths, English and Science. Whilst there I realised the importance of being able to engage with your students and ensuring foundational knowledge is in place, before moving into more advanced topic areas.

I also mentored students from my old school, Woodford County Grammar School, helping them to achieve their goals, whether academic, social or otherwise.

Tutoring Approach:

I do my best to establish a positive relationship with my students and identify ways in which to capture and retain their interest, particularly when covering more difficult materials. I believe attitude is critical to success in learning, so keeping my students motivated and energised plays a large role in my tutoring strategy.

I take a step-by-step approach to teaching challenging concepts, and consistently review previous materials throughout the course of the year to ensure topics remain fresh up until the exam. I also like to apply more abstract concepts to real world examples, to consolidate their understanding.
