Personal Description:
I am 33 years old and hold a Masters degree from Oxford University.

Teaching Experience:

I have been tutoring on a one-to-one basis for over 10 years. I also sometimes teach small classes. I am happy teaching children, teenagers university students and adult learners.

Tutoring Approach:

My teaching uses traditional methods and lively interaction. I expect the student to complete tasks between lessons. Without repetition and revision no-one can be expected to remember. Therefore, I am not afraid to go over the most basic elements until they are well known. Solid foundations are the basis for confidence.

Personal Description:
I have to be honest, I do love teaching and working with youngsters. Even though I am only 26 at times I do feel like a Father figure to many of my students. I am very dedicated to my profession and I am very obsessed with ensuring my students have the best possible lessons and the best possible preparations for their exams. I always give no less than 100% and never cut any corners in any form of life, especially not in my profession!! I am a massive boxing fan and as much as people hate him, I love watching Floyd Mayweather box! He makes my lessons very easy as virtually everything to do with marketing and finance can in some way or another be linked to him.

On a more personal level about myself, as mentioned before I am 26 years of age, I classify myself as a British-Asian Muslim and I love socialising and meeting new people. I am very chilled out and relaxed and I do have a sense of humour. I like to dress smart and look professional whilst at work but I do get criticised from my students for my 'out of school' clothes wear. I am very dedicated in my profession and strive to ensure all my students succeed.

Teaching Experience:

I am currently in my 5th year as a qualified teacher. I specialise in Business Studies and Economics for KS4 and KS5. I have gained vast experience with preparing students for their exams, have been in contact with various exams boards over exam policies and have helped prepare students for their exams with various exam techniques and revision sessions. I focus significantly on covering all schemes of work published in exam board specifications and on the various techniques that are required when answering specific exam questions. As well as guiding students towards their exam preparation I have taught and marked many different BTEC business modules and have vast amounts of resources at both KS4 and KS5 levels. I specialise in Edexcel and OCR specification for Business Studies and in the OCR and AQA specification for Economics.

Also I have over 3 years experience tutoring students during out of school hours as well. Along with tutoring my specialised subjects, I have experience tutoring KS1, KS2 and KS3 students in Maths and English.

Tutoring Approach:

Firstly and most importantly I like to create an environment where my students feel comfortable to be taught by me as it can at times be a daunting experience being tutored by someone who you feel uncomfortable with and have little in common with (something I experienced when I got tutored whilst I was studying). I like to use my friendly approach and my sense of humour to engage the students in my fun and active sessions. I have a set of 3-5 realistic objectives which I require students to achieve during each session depending on the ability of the student. I am very thorough in explaining topics and I never move onto the next topic until the current topic is completed and understood by the student. I have regular 'Assessment For Learning' activities in order to check the students knowledge and understanding. Finally I seek to challenge and stretch the students learning abilities in order to ensure the students receive as much as possible from my sessions.

Ian (Mr)

Personal Description:
I am an Economics graduate from Liverpool University and currently teach part-time in a good secondary school. I also tutor economics and business studies students and own two online businesses. Prior to teaching I worked in advertising for 10 years. I live in Bristol, am married with 3 young children and I am passionate about helping young people achieve their potential.

Teaching Experience:

I have been teaching Economics and Business Studies in state schools for 9 years. I have taught both A Level and GCSE students. My students have consistently over-performed - for example over 75% of Economics students have achieved A*-B in every year I have taught. As well as teaching larger groups of students, I have also helped many on a one-to-one basis, providing significant added-value and a marked improvement in their performance. All students I tutored in 2014 improved at least one grade since I started working with them, with several improving by 3 or more grades. For example, one recent A2 Economics student went from a grade E in his January mock exam to an A* overall in June, whilst another A2 student went from a grade B to a grade A overall and achieved 100% on an AS resit paper. I am an experienced Economics examiner and am familiar with all the major exam boards. I can supply references on request and I have a current CRB.

Tutoring Approach:

I will always begin by discussing my tutee's individual requirements and areas of the syllabus they would like to focus on. Once these have been established, I usually start with a return to basics, teaching economic or business theory that may not have been fully understood by the student. Once they are comfortable with the concepts, I will look to build in higher order analytical and evaluation skills as well as providing real world examples. I will use a variety of teaching methods to stretch students, backed up with exam technique by practising past papers. I am happy to teach face to face for local students, however I often teach online via Skype, using a whiteboard facility, which my students can also access. This makes the sessions as interactive as meeting face to face and it also means I can tutor students who don't live in Bristol. I always encourage students to provide feedback so that they receive maximum benefit from their teaching.

Below are some testimonials from current and recent students:

"Matt only got an E grade in his February A2 mock exam and the school predicted he would get a C grade at A2. With the significant assistance from Ian, Matt achieved an A* at A2. In his other two A levels, Matt achieved Bs (he also had tutors for these). There are several reasons why Ian made the difference: 1.Being taught on Skype. Matt was initially very apprehensive about being taught on Skype rather than in person. But Skype proved really beneficial. Firstly it enabled Matt to fit in tuition at times that would just not have been possible if travel had been involved. Secondly it enabled Matt to have additional lessons when he had spare time. 2. Focussing on how to structure essay answers. The school just didn't put anywhere near enough emphasis on this crucial area. 3. Essay marking. A key aspect of A2 is exam practice. We paid Ian for essay marking which meant that Matt was effectively maximising his time with Ian. 4. Not accepting mediocrity. The school said that Matt should not retake his AS exams as he had a good B grade. Ian said he should retake as he could do better. 5. Providing positive encouragement. Matt has always lacked belief in himself and Ian gave Matt the confidence that he could achieve a good result.
We would strongly recommend Ian as an Economics tutor" Mr P - South Gloucestershire

"Ian is an incredible tutor, who can prepare you not only for the Economics lessons, but also for the A levels exam. Before came to him, I struggled to understand Economics and was predicted a C. However, Ian helped me to understand all the economic concepts and theories, using up to date examples and YouTube videos and I achieved a grade A at AS level. Half of the lessons I had were via Skype since I was abroad that time. That's why I would especially recommend Ian for those students, who don't have the opportunity to come to his home. On the whole Ian is a brilliant Economics teacher, who will definitely help you to succeed in the subject" Miss B - Bristol and Russia

"Ian is a friendly and helpful tutor. He is punctual for his lessons and flexible with his timings. My son retook his EC2 paper in January 2013 and secured 100% after getting tutored from Ian. This is an improvement from a grade B prior to Ian's tutoring. Ian helped my son tremendously in his exam technique and boosted my son's confidence in the subject and the ways to approach his exams. My son was able to achieve 100% only because of Ian's teaching and from his dedicated effort. I would easily recommend Ian to anyone needing a tutor." Mrs D - Swansea

"Ian started tutoring me in late September and since then my Economics results have improved and I achieved an A grade in my final A2 exams. I have found Ian a very helpful tutor who is more than willing to go through my questions. We go through essays and past paper questions which aid my understanding and confidence in Economics topics. Ian taught me online and I found that Skype was highly convenient in allowing me to not have to travel to Ian" Mr B - Chepstow

"I contacted Ian since I felt that I needed help in understanding the context and concepts involved. Ian style of working was particularly effective. He helped me to improve my understanding of the subject matter by logical explanation and by building from basic principles to a more sophisticated awareness of the subject. Ian was always very patient and sympathetic to my learning needs. He was well prepared for our sessions, and always set me work to do independently as well. As a result of Ian's support I feel that my capability in Economics increased significantly. When I started working with Ian I was achieving at around a grade C. As a result of Ian's support I achieved an overall grade B at AS, the actual grades for the 2 papers were an A and a B. I thoroughly enjoyed working with Ian and would happily recommend Ian as a tutor for Economics. I will be continuing to have him as a tutor through my A2 course" Miss B - Redland, Bristol

"My son initially struggled with the subject gaining an E grade in his mock exams but with Ian's help he managed a grade B in his AS level and attained an A grade in both A2 papers. This was a huge improvement over the two years and I doubt it would have been possible without Ian's help, both with weekly tutoring and the all important pre exam revision days. Ian's approach was personalised and intensive and my son's needs we're concentrated upon fully. Ian was always punctual and organised and struck up a good relationship with the whole family. I would happily recommend him." Mrs W - Redland, Bristol

Personal Description:
I first became interested in teaching through working as a private tutor with GCSE students, something I am doing since I finished my graduation, training to become a leader in the process. This made me realise I enjoyed working with the people in their learning process, and college experience confirmed tutoring/teaching as a career choice. My subsequent one year PGCE has served further to fire my enthusiasm and prepared me effectively to take responsibility for learners.

I have completed PGCE , a Masters and a BSc in Economics, level 5 Mathematics in Mechanics, numeracy level 1 & 2, Diploma in Computer Science & Application and I am a Certified Internet Webmaster Associate.

Teaching Experience:

I am teaching for last 5 years. In addition, I worked as a Teaching Assistant over two years.I have been privately tutoring primary and secondary maths, A level maths and Economics on one-to-one basis since 2003. My academic education and teaching practices have given me a good understanding of the curriculum and of what makes effective teaching.

Tutoring Approach:

I make a conscious effort to ensure I am not just catering for visual learners like myself, but try to see lessons through other learners' eyes. For example, to introduce pictograms to numeracy entry level class, I got the learners to create 'human pictograms' arranged by name length, pets, eye colour, etc. and then transferred that information as pictograms to the board. Kinaesthetic learners were thereby catered for in the physical movement and manipulation, visual learners in the pictograms created on the board and audio learners as we discussed and interpreted the graphs.

I have in particular come to understand the value of sharing learning objectives and success criteria with students. Knowing exactly what is expected and how they can achieve allow learners to focus more clearly on tasks.

I feel it is important to make learning interesting and creative, and one way to achieve this is using real life example; this allows learners to explore and understand situations and express feelings, thoughts and emotions. An example of how I have successfully used real life situation was with a GCSE class, working out the area of the classroom to decide the correct amount of carpet needed for the classroom. I gave the students measuring tape to measure the length and width of the classroom. They were incredibly enthusiastic and threw themselves into the task. They found this a fun, enjoyable and worthwhile learning experience, which enabled them to better understand the situation and empathise with those concerned.

Personal Description:
I have a genuine passion for teaching and believe that learning is a fun and exciting process if approached in the right way. I am determined and energised to facilitate the student in performing the best of their ability. The primary focus will be on exam performance, but crucially without jeapardising real world application.

Teaching Experience:

I did Biology, Chemistry and Maths at A level, achieving 3 A's. I continued my studies at the University of Leeds where my degree was BsC Economics, achieving first class honours. However, it is my ability and tendency to work together with a student to set targets and goals to assist the student in acheiving their own aims; that is my objective. I started my tutoring career successfully tutoring my younger brother in achieving a top class set of results, and also my cousins. Since then, I have continued this on a greater scale, assisting students to either meet or surpass their exam grade expectations.

Tutoring Approach:

My approach to tutoring is simple. I aim to build a professional but friendly rappour with my students and deal with them in a firm but fair manner. I believe that it is important to get a good grounding in the basics and build up once the ground work is in place. My style is to identify areas of focus for the student through speaking to the student and their parents.

Personal Description:
I am an employee of the United Nations and a graduate from the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE). I am available for tutoring on Politics and Sociology at any level, and on History, Philosophy and Economics at GCSE level. I am happy to provide help on exam revision, essay writing, entrance exam preparation, university applications and general reading and writing skills.

Teaching Experience:

I have 3 years' experience of tutoring social science subjects to students from a range of different nationalities and backgrounds. I have a strong track record of improving grade scores and passing exams first time. I have proof-read essays for a large number of students who have all subsequently scored top marks for spelling and grammar. I have also formerly proof-read documents in a professional setting for businesses from the Czech Republic and Greece.

Tutoring Approach:

I am flexible in my approach and am happy to adapt to any student's needs. I look to work on all aspects of a student's approach, including revision technique, writing style and exam preparation. My preference is for committed students who will practice and implement what is learnt outside of lessons. I have typically set students exercises for completion before the next lesson in addition to revision work for practise essay questions. The more committed a student is to our classes, the more they will gain from them.

I received a State scholarship to work in an Italian international company, where i had the chance to learn Italian as well. I did an Italian course in the Tourism School of Rimini (Italy).
I decided to star my teacher degree and change my personal career because i feel that its my vocation, i love to learn about everything and have the chance to pass on my knowledge to others. Its something really pleasant.
As additional information i can say that im a quite person, very patient and i love the sports, im a sportsmen and i did the course to be a monitor leisure activities which has given me the opportunity to deal with many children and teach them so many different activities such as: Archery, kayak, canoeing and rowing...
Other information of interest is that i was football coach during 6 years in a Spanish football team, dealing with children between 5 and 12 years old. It was a good experience to learn how i can motivate the children to achieve their objectives.

Teaching Experience:

Ive been working as a Spanish teacher in a language academy during 6 months, teaching people from Germany, France, and UK... (Adult people)
Also I've worked in a Primary School during 1 year as an English teaching assistant, teaching children aged between 3 and 9.
Apart from that i worked as a private tutor teaching different subject such as maths, English, economy, geography, history and Spanish. Teaching to students between 6 and 15 years old.

Tutoring Approach:

About my teaching philosophy, i believe that the student has to understand the problems and no just memorize. I always try to explain the subjects adapting the concepts to the real life, like that, the student will remember better the explanation.
For language classes i try to combine grammar, vocabulary and conversation. The conversation is one of the most important part to gain confidence and to speak fluently another language.
I always try to motivate the students to face the subject like something interesting and funny for them.
Concerning my availability im available Monday to Friday after 4:00 pm and weekends could also be negotiated. Im glad to tutor in my home or commute to your place or find another location.

Personal Description:
My name is Darryl and I graduated from The University of Southampton in June 2013 with a degree in Economics and Actuarial Science (A very Statistical and Mathematical based subject). I previously worked for the American Bank Wells Fargo, and I now currently work as a Financial Consultant for Deloitte.

I have tutored for the past 4 years and I have enjoyed great success in helping my students to reach their full potential, and in many times, excel beyond their predicted grades. As a person who has just come out of education I have plenty of helpful tricks and tips to doing well in exams. I am also very familiar with the school curriculum as I have younger siblings, whom I also tutor. What sets me apart from most is that as well as tutoring my students, I take the role of a mentor, to motivate, encourage and guide them towards success.

As a young teenager I was a student who was pressured by my parents do excel in school, this sometimes caused me to have a more rebellious attitude towards my studies. Thus, I realise the various difficulties many students face throughout their studies, and I believe that having this experience provides me with the ability to connect to students who either are struggling with their studies, or are disengaged with their school work.

I achieved straight A's and A*'s at GCSE at a very poor school, I then got offered a scholarship to attend an independent school where I achieved A's in Mathematics, Physics and Economics. Finally I completed my studies at University with an upper second class degree with honours. I now am on a gap year and about to start a teaching course with the vision of becoming a Secondary School teacher in the near future.

Teaching Experience:

I started teaching Primary school and GCSE students whilst I was in my final year in sixth form, I then went on to teach A-level students whilst I was at University. Throughout those years my proudest achievement has been motivating my students and changing their attitudes towards studying and school. I have been able to get my students to work much harder then they (or their parents) ever expected them to. I believe the reason for is that I am young and provide a more friend-like support, as opposed to a demanding parent or teacher. By doing this my students' feel that I can relate to them and thus we establish a respected relationship. In addition I have also tutored students for entrance exams (e.g. 11+) and I am happy to say I have had great success in doing this also.

I have travelled to tutor many of my students, as well as tutoring some of them in my own home. I have always catered to the preferences of my students and their parents and I continue to do so to get the best out of my students. I like to finish each of my lessons by briefing the parent(s)/guardian(s) of the student's ongoing progress and my future goals for them.

Tutoring Approach:

I spend a lot of time planning for sessions so that my students get the very best out of each lesson. I am a very organised person, and I like to set short term and long term goals for myself and my students. I also like to keep track of the performance of my students, both for my needs and theirs. I always ensure that my lessons are engaging, and I work towards building a good relationship with my students, encouraging them to ask questions without any hesitation. I make sure that my students are comfortable with me by building a friendly and trusting relationship; I believe this enables my students to feel easy and allows them to ask me many questions, which leads to a better learning experience.

I adapt my approach depending on my students' learning style as I feel this is the key to successful teaching. I have had a range of different students, from those who were demotivated and disengaged, to those who needed me for that extra help to reach their goals.

Past papers is a very important part of my lessons, once I am able to cover the concepts and theories of the subject I swiftly turn the attention of my pupils to past papers. I believe practising these papers are definitely the best way of achieving great exam results.

I OFFER DISCOUNTS FOR MULTIPLE HOURS OF TUITION.

I also hold a 2:1 BSC Honours degree and HND in Business and Finance.

For over 20 years, I have taught in the 16+ sector but have extensive experience of teaching in the primary/11-16 sector and dealing with adults.

I live in Crawshawbooth so have easy accessibility to most areas and am willing to travel within a 20 mile radius. I have 3 sons - 20, 17 and 12, 2 King Charles Cavalier dogs and 2 cats - I love to read, socialise, spend time browsing the Internet and also love walking.

I have appropriate CRB checks and am looking forward to helping you with your tuition needs.

Teaching Experience:

I have largely taught in the 16+ sector through Further Education and work based learning but also have been tutoring independently for a number of years now. I have taught in primary schools also.

Tutoring Approach:

I am professional but approachable, and aim to create a relaxed but vigorous approach to the subjects taught. I aim to help you with your studies, not to challenge your weaknesses and to refresh but to remind you of the ways in which to tackle the subject you need help with. I use diverse methods of teaching with a multi-media approach and will always work with you to find the best way in which you learn. No two students are the same and I approach each separate tuition job with that ethos - your needs are paramount and I will work with you to ensure that the way we approach your learning is the best for you. I want to challenge your expectations of your own ability and let you achieve far more than you expected but also give you the comfort of reconfirming what you already know and to extend this base.
