Personal Description:
I am a Masters graduate from the University of Glasgow (Ma Economics with Mathematics), and I currently teach mathematics and economics to A-level in a comprehensive London school. I have a full enhanced CRB (entitling me to work with children under 18), in place which can be produced upon request.

Teaching Experience:

I have been tutoring for 4 years now with pupils aged as young as 12 and as old as 43. I have experience of tutoring pupils for GCSE, A-Level, GCSE equivalency exams, and professional exams that involve a large mathematical component. I also have my experience of helping pupils in school prepare for their exams as well.

Tutoring Approach:

I aim to use a textbook approach as little as possible though I do set worksheets (past exam papers if close to GCSEs), to work through between sessions. 1-2-1 is a great way to push pupils beyond what they thought they were capable off. I have high expectations of all children and expect them to achieve. I encourage them to aim high and hit high as I believe they all can.

For A-Level and GCSE students approaching exams I also make myself available via skype or facebook for any questions they may have between weekely sessions.

Personal Description:
Hello,

I'm a 27 year old from the Old Trafford/ Stretford area of Manchester, I graduated in Law from Lancaster university in 2008. I am an individual who is quite fond of reading, debating and discovering new things. I would say I am quite lively, not too difficult to get on with, very ambitious but also with an equal dash of a patience for I am a patient individual. Although I am admittedly not fantastic at sports I do play badminton and football from time to time I can play a range of sports but those tend to be the main two. I am a massive fan of education and self development. The colossal impact both areas can have upon our lives is incalcuable, as such I tend to be never too far away from reading a book or learning something new to further myself.

Teaching Experience:

I have mainly gained a lot of my early teaching experience through tutoring younger siblings and assisting the junior year students either at college or University with areas which they either required either extra help in or further knowledge. As such I have further developed this over the last four years and I am confident that the contribution which I have made to those who I have helped has been substantial in helping them to progress onwards to the next stage and beyond. As such I would hope to extend this towards any student who desires to take me on board and to progress until they are ready for the task at hand.

As I have progressed over the years with various tutees my own personal experience has grown exponentially year on year.

Tutoring Approach:

I begin my approach with an analytical conversation with the student, parent or both in order to address in person individual to assess strengths and areas where we can develop a plan of action. I will aim to take each stage step by step until both you and I are satisfied that we are confident in understanding and explaining coherently the relevant information. I will be professional but understanding as patience dictates, most importantly any work set during the session will be wholly relevant, comprehensible and creative in order to match your needs.

*For any LPC students I can also tutor and instruct in Solicitors accounts too.

Personal Description:
I am an LSE Economics BSc (Hons) Graduate and am currently pursuing an MSc in Management at London Business School. Upon graduation I will be joining McKinsey & Company as a Business Analyst.

Teaching Experience:

I have extensive tutoring experience; I have been tutoring for over 5 years. I have, in the past, tutored Sciences, Languages, Maths and Economics but currently only tutor Maths and Economics. All my students have been extremely happy with the results they have seen. References are available upon request.

Tutoring Approach:

I believe that the understanding and grasping of concepts is the single most valuable thing a good tutor can provide to his or her students. This is my focus. I make sure students understand the concepts they are studying, and then turn the attention to helping them hone their technique in applying these concepts in different exam scenarios.

I guarantee the utmost quality and preparation for each lesson and, for any willing student, the best results given the time period and student's starting point. I am happy to offer a discount on student's first lessons to trial my tutoring approach.

Teaching Experience:
Since I have been a student all my life so did not get a chance to tutor. However I have experience to work with young people as a "Tutor" in the state run TRIO program in USA. This job has given me a clear understanding and significance of a good education, promoting effective learning, teaching and personal development. This first hand skill of working with children of school age has made me patient, tolerant and has also given me an ability to respond positively to special educational needs. Having this experience would definitely facilitate me to translate my knowledge better to pupils and that surely would aid them to understand the basic concepts.

Personal Description:
I am an enthusiastic and motivated individual who has a commitment to teaching. I have successfully completed a Mathematics PGCE in secondary teaching and work at an outstanding school.

I enjoy skiing, indo-boarding and keeping fit. I am friendly and I get on well a wide range of people. I like challenging myself and I enjoy helping people. I have a full UK driving licence and I have my own transport.

My most recent CRB check is from July 2013.

Teaching Experience:

My PGCE year showed me different ways to teach children and emphasised being flexible and adaptable to the individual needs to every child. I incorporate this into my teaching practice on a daily basis and have managed to get it down to an art for tuition too.

During my final year at university, I decided to take on the role of note taker/tutor to a visually impaired first year PPE student. This helped me to fully appreciate the art of communication because I had to learn new techniques to implement when typing up mathematical notation and complicated economic expressions. This aided my organisational and time keeping skills as I had to complete my final year studies simultaneously. I undertook this role so that I could enhance my listening and communication skills. But I finished this role having understood the intricacies of teaching Mathematics to someone who has difficulty due to a disability. I was a successful tutor and my work was valued highly but my greatest achievement within this role was ensuring that the student understood what I taught. Carrying out this enriching role meant I saw the student decipher the complex and challenging mathematics and this confirmed teaching as a career choice.

I decided to use the summer of 2010 fulfilling one of my dreams by working with vulnerable children from underprivileged backgrounds in one of the world's fastest developing nations: India. I taught Mathematics and English to Secondary School students using my Hindi language skills to communicate and ensure that the children understood everything that I was trying to convey. I fulfilled this voluntary role for a period of 3 months and it gave me a very deep insight into what a career in teaching would be like. I travelled 18km on a daily basis but I was happy to give up my time during the week and on the weekend in order to teach or invigilate exams. I was committed to sharing my knowledge and giving the best of myself. This experience showed me that it is important to keep thinking and learning new things in order to be a successful teacher. I created teaching plans before each lesson and took advice from the Head Master and my colleagues which meant that I was able to develop at a rapid pace. I recognise that I still have much to learn but I am ready for the next challenge which awaits me. This experience was heart rendering and left me feeling fulfilled in a way I have never felt before.

I have taught over 30 pupils over the last few years. This has ranged from several A level pupils, several GCSE pupils and a handful of primary school pupils. I have also taught university students in Economics. I have taught both male and female students from varying ages. Pupils tend to find that they gel with me quite well compared to previous tutors they've had.

My students notice a difference in their progress within a very short amount of time because I genuinely care about helping them to get the most out of their potential. One of my languages' students has seen a rapid increase in a matter of weeks in terms of her spoken and written work. All of my Economics' students have seen particularly quick progression in terms of analytical and evaluation skills.

I am a hard working and conscientious tutor - I take my work very seriously and I am committed to helping students perform exceptionally well. The feeling I get from seeing a student finally understand a concept is the greatest feeling in the world. However, I don't take myself too seriously and am very easy to get on with.

Overall - I can help with routine homework, assignments, exam preparation, more focused revision, improving memory and making subjects fun and relatable!

Tutoring Approach:

I plan things and I like to identify a student's weaknesses so that I can help them to kick the demons and enjoy a subject in a way they never have done before. I think making the base of any subject strong is essential and means that a student can develop quicker. I also know that it's important not to overload students with too much information so I make things manageable and progress tends to be very fast :)

What are you waiting for? Get in touch to find out more!

Personal Description:
I have recently completed a master's degree in Economics and am planning to pursue a PhD in the upcoming year. The exposure I gained throughout my studies has enabled me to become an extremely responsible, organized and motivated person and I put in utmost effort towards achieving my goals. My experiences have certainly allowed me to obtain skills which are necessary for this specific field.

Teaching Experience:

Teaching has always been an appealing field for me. I have been working towards this career since many years and it has certainly been an invaluable experience. I have been providing home tuition from in Economics, Mathematics, Statistics, English language to students upto GCSE. Since the past 5 years, I have been providing home tuition to students, especially to those who were academically weak. During my undergraduate study, I took the active role of a student mentor where I helped classmates facing difficulties in Maths and Economics. This helped me attain the necessary skills and confidence and built on my enthusiasm towards the field of teaching.

Tutoring Approach:

I have always possessed a passion for working with young people, focusing on discussing their individual goals in order to be the window through which many young people will see their future. I focus on motivating my students by using creative and inspirational methods of teaching. Personal Description:
I am a third year medical student (passed second year with merit) studying at King's College London who is friendly, down-to-earth and willing to be a very effective tutor. I have an excellent academic background achieving 10 A*s and 5 As at GCSE Level (certificates available for proof). At A-Level, I achieved 4 straight As (my A levels were taken before the new A* grade) in Biology, Chemistry, Mathematics and Economics.

I have a lot of experience in tutoring students (2+ years), both in the school setting and outside of school and I have been of immense benefit to those I have tutored with several commenting on my unique approach to it.

Teaching Experience:

I have a vast amount of experience in tutoring students, both in the school setting and outside of school and I have been of immense benefit to those I have tutored with several commenting on my unique approach to it.

I have tutored for a total of approximately 250 hours and rising in A-Level and GCSE Biology, Chemistry, Maths and Economics. I also was given some awards for my effective work as a tutor in my secondary school and sixth form.

Tutoring Approach:

I strongly believe that a tutor must get response from the student which demonstrates understanding and I do this in a friendly and interactive manner which gets the best from my students.

This principle is crucial because it lets me know with as much certainty as possible that my student has understood my lesson rather than hoping that this is the case based on my explanations as a tutor which is what happens in most school settings.

Personal Description:
I have spent many years accumulating a wide range of academic qualifications, and my work has often primarily consisted of passing on my knowledge to others in a form they can understand. I get a lot of satisfaction from helping people to understand something they thought was beyond them. By virtue of having studied several subjects at a high level, I empathise with the feeling of finding something difficult, and have the patience and technique to get past this. I am not a single-subject specialist who might find it difficult to understand why others struggle in their area of expertise.
For students who are preparing for exams, my knowledge of examination technique, and an empathy with the marker, should be invaluable. I always keep in mind the importance of the student's goals, but never take myself too seriously.

Teaching Experience:

My whole career has been geared towards some form of teaching. I have trained groups of adults and children, as well as individuals, in elements of mathematics, psychology, actuarial science, pensions, and even tennis! Recently I tutored my 14 year-old son (who attends a sports academy, not a mainstream school) in three IGCSEs, for which he obtained excellent grades.

Tutoring Approach:

I look at what is important for the student. I emphasise clear, logical ways of working, and clear presentation. I make sure that they realise that they not only need to understand why they are doing something, but they must also be able to explain it clearly. Explaining a difficult concept to someone else can often be the best way to make yourself remember it. I am calm and patient, and English is my first language, all of which can help when a student finds something tricky.

I am consistently available for tutoring during weekday daytimes. I will sometimes be available in the evenings and at weekends, but this will be by arrangement and should not be relied upon.

Personal Description:
I am currently embarking on a Masters at the University of Oxford.

I have achieved a higher upper second class degree in Philosophy, Politics and Economics from the University of Oxford.

Teaching Experience:

My work over the last 2 years with education project, The Hackney Pirates, has given me plenty of experience working one-to-one with children of different abilities and behavioural standards on literacy, numeracy and creativity.

I have tutored A-level economics to a student who was unable to attend school due to a hospital operation. I followed his teacher's guidance in order to ensure that he was not falling behind the class and was also able to go over work from previous terms that he had not fully understood. The student went on to achieve an A* in his economics A-level.

I have tutored a number of children aged 6-12 in my local area; Hackney. This included basic numeracy and literacy up to entrance exam assistance. In each case the school teachers reported visible improvement in the child's ability and 3 of the 4 quickly progressed to higher sets in Maths and English.

During the summer of 2010, I taught English language at a school in Uganda. this taught me how to explain the language clearly, to classes of up to 50 children and gave me confidence in my ability to communicate clearly and effectively.

Tutoring Approach:

I am a good communicator and have always enjoyed getting to know children and feel a personal sense of achievement from watching them progress intellectually.
I believe that all children are academically capable and that it is important to be flexible and creative in teaching methods in order to engage children and young adults in order to realise their full potential.
I believe that inner confidence and determination are what it takes for people to do well at each stage of the learning process and try to use my energy and enthusiasm to inspire these qualities in those that I work with.

Depending on the needs of the student, I am able to adapt and tailor the sessions either to academic rigour or to engagement and enjoyment. For example the approach I would use for someone looking to apply to Oxbridge is extremely different to that I would use to engage those who are disinterested or distracted at school.

Personal Description:
I am young, enthusiastic and looking to motivate others to get the most out of their years in education. My personal interests/specialties are: Philosophy (particularly: Ethics, The Philosophy of Religion and Classical Philosophy); Politics (particularly: Political theory and thought, comparative government and international relations); Economics- including microeconomic and macroeconomic levels of analysis; and, English literature- particularly Shakespeare, Blake and Larkin.
When I'm not reading or thinking I like to pursue my other passion in life, Rugby.

Teaching Experience:

My strongest areas are Politics and Philosophy, in which I have tutored students from GCSE to undergraduate level with a proven record of improvement following my intervention. I have taught English, Politics, Economics and Philosophy to A-level standard. My experience of High School teaching (SATS, GCSEs) extends to a good share of the subjects available (please inquire about specific subjects, i might surprise you!).

As an admissions consultant I personally interviewed and prepared over 30 Oxbridge candidates, with a significantly higher proportion gaining entrance compared to the national average.
In addition, I have worked extensively with children aged 6-14 in my role as a summer camp coordinator for Active Nation UK.

Tutoring Approach:

Whilst learning cannot always be enthralling, it should never be dull.
Whether its learning basic Maths and English, passing the Year 9 SATS or getting the right grades for university, I can help.
Students will learn all the essential knowledge to reach their goals at whatever level, as well as extra work on the fundamental underlying principles that extend beyond the syllabus (and into the real world!). This is all made relevant and memorable with interesting examples and additional information that make the core material go down smoothly whilst helping students understand why their subjects matter in the wider world. This approach ensures students become engaged and willing to learn, leading to higher retention rates and ultimately higher marks. Perhaps more importantly, my approach teaches students how to think clearly and creatively, the end result being excellent exam results and transferable thinking skills that will last a lifetime.

I can offer tailored tutoring for all ages, schools admissions advice and University application/ admittance assistance, particularly in entrance to prestigious universities (including actual Oxbridge interview material).

Personal Description:
I am an economics undergraduate in my penultimate year at the University of Hertfordshire. I am working towards a First Class BA in the subject with an average grade of 80%. I also achieved an "A" grade in A-level economics and have the relevant materials (textbooks, databases etc.) to help you or your child succeed in their exams. I am hoping for a career in academia and warmly welcome the opportunity to gain some relevant experience in personal tutoring.

Teaching Experience:

I have two full years of teaching experience; one at GCSE level and the second at A-level teaching geography and economics respectively. I have also volunteered at a summer school offering qualifications of business discipline for the previous three summers.

Tutoring Approach:

I like to apply textbook theories of both macroeconomics and microeconomics to scenarios and recent news stories in the real world. By doing this students are practically understanding these theories and not just frantically trying to remember what was said in the textbook. This also shows how the textbook theories are simply a benchmark and rarely perfectly replicated in real life, a key element in social science which involves human subjects. This technique allows students to reach the highest band of marks available by offering insights of critical analysis which will pull an average exam paper into the realms of A/A* grading.

Personal Description:
Hello! My name is Alice. I am a 19 year old Economics undergraduate at the University of Edinburgh. I studied Maths, Further Maths, Politics and French at A-level in which I obtained A*, B, A* and A respectively. I offer tutoring in these subjects (Maths, Politics and French) as well as in Economics and English. I also obtained 10 A* at GCSE in Maths, English Lit, English Lang, French, Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Latin, History and Drama.

In University term time I live in the centre of Edinburgh and in the holidays I live in central London. I really enjoy working with children and young adults and, in addition to tutoring work, do lots of babysitting.

I am very interested in politics and current affairs, enjoy reading and swimming and love to travel.

Teaching Experience:

I have loads of informal tutoring experience, teaching family and friends. This has been mostly Maths and English GCSE work and I have seen some fantastic results from the students I worked with. I also spent some time last year working at a school in India where I taught Maths and English to children between the ages of 7 and 13.

Tutoring Approach:

Given my relatively recent experience of GCSEs/ A-Levels/ University, I am aware of the curriculum and it's demands. I approach tutoring in a fun and accessible way to try and encourage the child to work hard at the subject through his or her own volition rather than through being forced.

I aim not just tutor the child to pass the exam, but to go beyond this and provide a comprehensive knowledge of the subject. I believe that it is first important to identify the areas that the child struggles with most and build up their confidence with these topics. I recognise that every child will have different needs and will establish what these are and create the lessons around them.
