| Personal Description: Qualified Experienced Mathematics teacher (PGCE,Ma (hons)) who enjoys preparing students to succeed with KS3 and G.C.S.E examinations. I am understanding and patient with all students. I strive to help pupils achieve their goals whether they find the subject demanding, need stretching or simply lack motivation. |
Teaching Experience: I am a full time working mathematics teacher at a Birmingham inner city comp and as such in touch with today's curriculum and the demands placed on students. I have been teaching mathematics for four years working with 'super top' sets to 'middle' and 'support'. |
Tutoring Approach: I endeavour to foster understanding based on goal orientated and outcome based learning. Often pupils suffer in exams due to poor exam technique rather than a lack of mathematical ability or understanding. I think the best way to teach is one to one and feel by tutoring I am able to help individuals in the most effective way, unfortunately we as a society can not afford to conduct our schools in such a manner. |

| Personal Description: I left school a straight-A student and went on to excel in my undergraduate and post-graduate degrees. However, I know what it is like to struggle as a student. I had to work hard to develop study techniques and an understanding of my subjects, particularly as I have motor dyspraxia, a learning difficulty. I am therefore well equipped to share my skills and knowledge. I was awarded a work prize for my results at A-level. I achieved the highest first in my year for my Philosophy degree at the University of Nottingham. While there I presented a paper in an academic conference at the University of Glasgow. I gained a Distinction in my Masters in Political Theory from UCL. I am currently completing my law conversion course at City University with a view to becoming a barrister. I have a passion for learning and a strong drive to help others achieve their potential. |
Teaching Experience: I informally tutored two people in Philosophy while at University. I worked as a Sunday School teacher for 5 years. I also taught a course in political philosophy at a community centre. I taught English to children and adults in Brazil on my gap year. |
Tutoring Approach: I think people are often capable of more than they realise. Achieving one's potential is a lot about having confidence and enjoying a subject. This is what I would aim to work on in addition to providing assistance with the content of the course. Struggling students rarely lack the intelligence to succeed, more often they lack the techniques to achieve the results they desire. One thing I have learn from my academic experience is that one cannot impose study techniques upon someone else. Different things work for different people. Schools are often guilty of telling people how to work and their suggested approach may not get the most out of a student. I have also learnt however, that study techniques are needed. My approach, therefore, is to develop with a student a set of techniques that reflect the student's personality. My approach can be summed up as student-led. |

I am 22 years old, I currently work for a large (one of the big four) Consulting firms based in Central London. I am currently studying for ISEB examinations and my CFA diploma. I am an enthusiastic and experienced tutor, who believes that a good teacher can make all the difference. Given my interdisciplinary background, I have a flexible and open-minded and creative attitude to study, all the while ensuring targets are met and progress is made, regardless of training or level. I am multilingual and can relate to a variety of ethnic backgrounds, given my teaching and own immigration experience. |
Teaching Experience: I have taught students of different levels and abilites and have always had great success in helping them achieve their goals. I have worked with my last student toward her Mathematics A-Level target Grade of C, which achieved an A (with 95% achieved in her last two modules), despite the provisional fail grade before private tuition started. I have maintained a friendly, relaxed relationship with former students. I have experience of tutoring to a wide range of students, of varying standards and ages. I am also a mentor to several young people in order to assist them in their applications to university and to offer support and guidance where I can. I am currently tutoring two A-Level Economics students and three Math A-Level students. I also have two students who are preparing to take 11+ exams next academic year. |
Tutoring Approach: My approach to tutoring is supportive and structured, working in dialogue with the individual pupil. I believe education is one of the most important investments we can ever make in life. Given this, a passion for personal learning, and a committment to helping students achieve success, I am particularly fond of teaching. The interaction and creativity involved in exploring new ideas and ways to see the world means I relish the teaching experience, whereby horizons are expanded mutually. I am constantly developing new skills and approaches to engage students on both professional and personal levels.Tutoring is a highly personal exchange. I aim to make any tutee feel comfortable in my presence and understand clearly the aims of each tutorial. Most importantly, every student should be considered sensitively and individually- in a manner specific to their needs. I tend to take a structured approach to learning, where goals are made using the SMART tool and evaluated constantly to measure progress. |

| Personal Description: I am 24 year old male with a degree in Biotechnology (1st Class), and a masters in Biochemical Engineering (Distinction) both received from the University College of London (UCL). After leaving university I went on to work for JPMorgan as a commodities banker. Since the start of 2009 I have been working as a Competitive Intelligence Analyst for the largest European Oil and Gas company. |
Teaching Experience: I have 3 years experience teaching Math, Biology, Chemistry, and Physics at GCSE and below. I have also been teaching Economics for the past year with great success. I am also willing to teach Biology and other Life Sciences beyond GCSE. I also assist students with university and job applications which many students have found to be very helpful. I can teach both individuals as well as small groups (3-4). I can provide block lessons of 2-3 hours if required. |
Tutoring Approach: I have a relaxed style of teaching which I personally feel allows my students to be most comfortable producing the best results. I do not stick to a rigid plan for my lessons as I feel this can hinder progression, instead allowing my students to dictate much of the content focusing on areas where help is needed most. However I do ensure the entire syllabus is covered and that my students are well prepared for all course content. I pay great attention to exam technique and personally believe many students stumble at this skill even when subject knowledge and understanding is at a high level. |

| Personal Description: I am currently a student studying Management BA at Leicester University after which I wish to pursue a career within consultancy. I have twelve GCSE pass grades as well as four A-levels in Business Studies, Economics, History and English all of which have been achieved whilst at Bexley Grammar School. I am a vibrant young individual who is keen and energetic in teaching those at much younger youth; I go by 'nothing is impossible' approach and will be determined to pass my teachings in a fun yet competitive manner. I am also quite an active character with hobbies such as cycling and basketball. Most importantly I come from a large family with three younger siblings and so I have the essential experience of motivating those who are much younger than I or those who can be stubborn at times. I have a high patience level and will not give up on my tutee especially around areas in which they may find difficult. |
Teaching Experience: I do not have a qualified teaching status however I have the experience of teaching English whilst abroad to a group of eight young individuals ranging from the age of 4-14. Their knowledge of the language was at very different levels however I still managed to keep all of them motivated through a serious of teaching techniques that I developed over the years of handling my younger siblings. Additionally, I have been tutoring my siblings through their home-works to preparation for the 11+ exams for almost five years in total. I am a keen teacher and will endeavour to help my tutee at every level. I also have the essential experience of teaching to those with dyslexia. |
Tutoring Approach: A key approach to my tutoring is motivation. I have many motivation techniques which will help my tutee to achieve his or her best possible grade in the subject. Additionally, if necessary I will set homework and mark in my own time, it is within my character to go that extra mile in order to help my tutee. I will make sure to listen or analyse which areas my tutee is struggling or finding a little difficult and I will use my skills to motivate them to work harder, along with my help in showing them easier ways of learning those difficult areas of study. I am not the type to give up in my own studies and so I shall not ever give up on my tutees, I promise to give my full attention and full effort whilst tutoring. |
