Personal Description:
I have a degree in Pharmacology and a qualified teacher of Science from KS1 to KS5. I am also an examiner; I mark GCSE papers. I am a very hard working individual who is easily motivated and always ready to adapt and learn new skills. Having had various opportunities to carry out a variety of laboratory assessments as key components of my course, I am able to work as an individual or as part of a team. As a part of my degree I developed essential and transferable scientific skills. My project title was 'Synthesis and Biochemical Evaluation of Heat Shock Protein Hsp90 inhibitors on MCF-7 breast cancer cells'. Studies on how drugs are discovered, developed and used to treat disease gave me an understanding of how the human body functions and how drugs can be used to affect these functions. I have experience teaching from KS1 to KS5 and open university students. I enjoy travelling; visited New York, New Jersey, Netherlands, Scotland, Switzerland, Austria, Spain and Nigeria. I get pleasure from working out at the gym regularly and I love swimming. I also enjoy studying christian books and other inspirational books.

Teaching Experience:

I am currently at an inner city school in Portsmouth. It has 900 students on roll. I have over 6 years of experience working with people with challenging behaviour, dyslexia and autism. Currently I am teaching Key stage 3 and 4. Teaching pure Biology lessons to separate Science; Physics, Chemistry and Biology to core and Additional Science students. For key stage 3 I have followed the QCA guidelines and for key stage 4 the WJEC examination board. I have written schemes of work for year 11 students to cover additional Sciences and rewrote schemes of work to meet the recent curriculum changes key stage 3 and 4. I was also involved in producing resources to be shared in the department about hydrocarbons, polymers, smart materials, ammonia fertilizers and many other kS3 topics.

Prior to this experience my first teaching placement during my PGCE year was at a mixed comprehensive with approximately 900 students on role. I taught Biology, Chemistry and Physics at key stage 3 and team taught for key stage 4. This prepared me well for my second placement where I taught all three Sciences across both key stages. My second placement was also at a mixed comprehensive school with approximately 600 students on roll. I also was involved in Individual Student Assessments (ISA). Additionally as a trainee teacher I regularly was involved in school base activities to encourage students. I was a Student Ambassador for Portsmouth University. It gave me a lot of personal satisfaction and developed my communication skills. I also attended the University of East London gifted and talented day in 2008; which was attended by a number of schools from the borough of Redbridge. It was an inspiring day of learning and fun and I have taken elements from that day into my classroom practice today.

Tutoring Approach:

My approach to teaching is to first of all find out my students weaknesses and turn it into their strengths; I feel that the study of Neuropharmacology as part of my undergraduate degree in Pharmacology was very relevant to teaching. I have a secured subject knowledge with all three Sciences. I also like to bring the best of people, by being patient and understanding. I have the ability to cope and work under pressure, understanding of the challenges that need overcoming to learn, ability to take ownership of material and adapt it to suit the learning styles and approach of individual.

Personal Description:
I am a former Head of Science with over 10 years' teaching experience. I enjoy teaching and tutoring and would like to concentrate on tutoring alone for the foreseeable future.

I offer solid, comprehensive, support in Science and Maths for all the English Examination boards - including the International Baccalaureate. I can (and do) also enter/administer/teach/ and prepare students for GCSE/A-level Science, and Maths, examinations - privately (outside of the school environment). This service could be invaluable to students with either: special needs; want more control over their own education, or more simply just need a second chance to achieve their aspirations.

Teaching Experience:

Over ten years' experience teaching biology, chemistry and physics to A-level. Also, about seven years' experience teaching mathematics to A-level and about five years' experience working with special needs students - particularly Asperger syndrome.

Plus, over three years tutoring experience in science and mathematics - from SAT level to A-level.

Tutoring Approach:

I prefer to work with the knowledge students already possess and build from there: expect friendly learning targets, pre-tests, progress tests and honest progress reports on strengths and weakness and plenty of homework.

I am very calm, patient and supportive with my students. My lessons are structured to provide exactly what you need to know, well explained, and tailored to meet each student's specific needs: includes a variety of hands on material and varied learning styles supported with after lesson homework.

I provide good support with English and Maths literacy along with plenty of advice/hands-on experience with structuring/answering examination questions - to get students solidly prepared for their examinations.

Personal Description:
I am a professional geography researcher specialised in regional geography and urban sciences. I have gained my knowledge and expertise from universities across Europe (Pécs, Wolverhampton, Maribor, Zagreb, and Ljubljana). I am currently a PhD Aspirant at the University of Pécs, Hungary.

I have been mainly researching in the field 'geography of energy', but my interests link my specification to other scientific disciplines such as sustainability, environmental sciences, and landscape geography, and I am able to perform and combine various geographical fields.

During my years as a PhD Student, I was given the chance to gain experience as a lecturer; teaching subjects which included: renewable energy resources and world regional geography. In 2015, I officially became a teacher after successfully completing my PGCE at the Birmingham City University in England.

As a teacher I have also gained experience in a prison setting teaching mathematics to a wide age range and ability of students and different learning levels, whilst I have been able to use the knowledge that I obtained from the course in practice.

Besides having published a number of articles and books, I am the founder and series editor of Frugeo's journal called Geographical Locality Studies.

I am a registered member of the Hungarian Geographical Society (MFT), and the Association of Teachers and Lecturers (ATL).

Teaching Experience:

Being a 'good' teacher is a subjective opinion that I cannot state about myself. I am experienced in a wide-range of teaching environments from primary/secondary school-aged pupils to adult/prison learning and higher education.

People who have observed me teaching in the past have had positive criticism of my work and mentioned how efficient and encouraging my lessons and teaching methods are. In my opinion, to be a good teacher it is essential to be flexible with the environment you work in and have to have comprehensive knowledge both in outdoors and in classroom settings. You have to experience and observe the outside world for you to engage and maintain properly an enthusiastic class when teaching geography.

The qualifications and the reputation I have obtained in Geography are the results of an enthusiasm I have had since my childhood for this subject area and it is still part of my daily life that comes to life through my own business and its journal.

Geography is not only my profession, but is also my hobby that is present in my life with all of its aspects, whether it be examining a piece of rock or talking about coffee beans, I can discuss both in an academic sense as well as out of personal interest. The diverse use of language therefore is important when encouraging others on geography and the key is to find a common interest between subject and receiver for them to understand and to be inspired by what they are learning. For example, when teaching in the prison, Mathematics combined with Geography suddenly becomes more interesting and therefore engaging.

Tutoring Approach:

For a researcher with a deep understanding about the Earth's mechanisms, Geography will always reserve a high number of mysteries. Research is the foundation for everything that is taught and this will always be exciting for me to do. But the implementation of this new knowledge may be challenging, that is why you have to keep thinking of new teaching methods to improve the quality of the subject that you are teaching. For this reason, it is essential to assist the younger generation for them to become capable to deal with geography related topics and issues.

As originally a researcher with a non-British educational background and with a very colourful and diverse interest in Earth Sciences, I am able to shake things up. My aim is to develop people's knowledge, foster their understandings on geography and help them achieve the required goals set by the school/exam board which I hope will motivate them into using geographical knowledge in their daily lives.

Personal Description:
I am a PhD student, undertaking my doctorate in Environmental Sciences, with a focus on soil nutrient cycling and nutrient transport to surface and ground waters. I completed my BSc in Physical Geography at the University of Exeter and gained first class honours in this.

Teaching Experience:

I carried out teacher training at a basic level with the University of Exeter in order to participate in the Students Associates Scheme. After this training I spent three weeks in a local secondary school where I actively participated in Geography and Religious Studies lessons, and was able to provide work plans for higher and lower achieving students. I also worked closely with students that had special educational needs.
I also have experience in teaching sports to groups of young children.

Tutoring Approach:

During my time at the secondary school I found that I produced good results working one-to-one with students, particularly with students that were struggling to understand concepts or were having difficulty with the teaching style being used in the classroom. I am patient, focussed and willing to work hard to enable a tutee to achieve their goals.

Personal Description:
I am a postgraduate student with over 3 years tutoring experience, since starting to tutor whilst completing my undergraduate degree in geophysics from Imperial College London. Alongside my studies I am also involved with charity work, play the violin and enjoy a variety of different types of sport. I would like to think I am friendly and approachable, and passionate about motivating my students to achieve the best they can! With my experience and strong academic background I feel I'm in the perfect position to tutor your child.

Teaching Experience:

I have over three years of tutoring experience, varying from GCSE maths to university level Earth Science. Aside from private tutoring, I also volunteered for a tutoring scheme called 'Team Up', where I mainly covered KS3 science topics with students from a deprived background. This gave me invaluable experience at tutoring as well as allowing me to attend a short course run by Teach First on how to become a better tutor.

In past years I have also volunteered for a local Geological Trust, which involved in taking part in 'Geological Road shows' and trying to engage children with geology using activities, workshops, games etc. I have also completed a weeks work experience in a local Primary School, where I shadowed a Year 4 teacher and took charge of small groups in need of extra support. I have also taken part in a weekly music mentoring workshop, at a local secondary school to help teach younger students how to play string instruments, mainly the violin. Though hard work I found this thoroughly enjoyable and rewarding; especially when some of my students went on to attend paid lessons and take graded examinations.

Finally I am an active member of Girl Guiding and have taken many leadership roles over the past six years. This includes being an assistant leader at local rainbow groups (aged mainly between 5-7 years old) for the last three years. Although this is outside of a formal teaching environment, it is a role of significant responsibility and has given me more experience engaging with young children.

Tutoring Approach:

I always aim to engage with my students and attempt to make learning as interesting and stimulating as possible. I also a firm believer of recapping previously covered material, through short sessions each week, as it really helps students to retain and recall information more easily - and make pre-exam revision less daunting.

I have worked with students of a range of academic abilities and have always managed to get them working at a higher level. I also have experience with personal statement checking and other university application advice; including oxbridge applications. I am also more than happy to offer mock interviews.

I also feel that I can offer much in terms of advice to students with worries regarding revision, exams and university. As a recent graduate I am in a very good position to help students within the education system, as I have recent first-hand experience of the pressures and expectations they are under. I believe good exam technique can be hugely beneficial to students sitting national qualifications, and I would be able to pass on my experience in dealing with examinations to your child.

Personal Description:
My Name is Luke and I'm an outgoing, fun and friendly person who loves to teach in all forms! I'm currently a Primary School teacher who works in a school in Blackheath. Originally from Sheffield, I recently moved down to London to pursue my teaching career in the capital, and have great ambitions to one day become a headteacher. I lived in Japan for a year and a half and taught English as a foreign language in Tokyo, so I love all things Japanese! I'm greatly into sport and love PE, I play guitar and piano and love literature. I look forward to meeting and tutoring you!

Teaching Experience:

I have over 4 years teaching experience combining both private tutoring and classroom environments. I have taught young people of all ages, starting from nursery all the way to undergraduate university students. I have Qualified Teacher Status, and specialise in Science, with a degree in BSc (Hons) Biology from Newcastle University. I have a EFL Qualification from TEFL England, and have private tutored all core subjects including Maths and English and a number of foundation subjects such as geography and history.

Tutoring Approach:

The key to effective teaching is to differentiate and adapt to the needs of each individual student! My approach to tutoring is to make sure that each student's learning style is adhered to and planned for, allowing them to excel in their own way.

I find student-centred learning to be the most effective way for a pupil to grow, meaning learning is based around lots of discussion and structured scaffolding. Essentially, I provide the environment for the student to take the lead in his/her own learning!

I mix my teaching with interesting and interactive activities, using visual models and kinaesthetic approaches, making the student WANT to learn. The three most important qualities I base around my tutoring; pupil progression, learning to be confident in their subject and provoking curiosity in learning. I look forward to teaching you!

Personal Description:
I hold PhD in Statistics and Water Sciences, MSc in Atmospheric Sciences, BSc in Physics of Solid State. I have over 6 years of full-time tutoring experience. Prior to this, I have been working at Universities and national and international research institutes and organizations all over North America. I have authored one and half dozens of scientific articles in peer-reviewed journals and I am currently serving as a reviewer for 6 peer-reviewed scientific journals. I am tri-lingual (English, French, Spanish) and can tutor you in any of these languages.

Teaching Experience:

For the past three decades, I have worked with students of all levels (Bachelor, Master, PhD), Post-Doctoral Fellows, academic and business professionals from all over the world. I have been successfully tutoring students of all levels, academic and business researchers and professionals specializing in dozens of different areas.
My area of focus is Statistics, both applied and theoretical, and data mining. I also offer thesis / dissertation supervision and guidance for all students of all levels. I have over 1,000 hours of tutoring experience and I have tutored over 100 students to-date, in person and online.

Tutoring Approach:

I work with adult students who are doing their University / college studies and professionals both in academia and business. I use a two-step approach to tutoring: first we do a thorough overview of the concepts, then we learn how to apply them. This way the student learns the science behind the applications and will be able to apply it in any setting and for any problem they would face in the future.
I tutor online only via Skype.
