Hi! My name is Kasia and I am 22 years old. I am doing my third year at Liverpool Hope University studying Creative and Performing Arts. I come from Krakow in Poland.

Teaching Experience:
During my second year at university I worked as a tutor and translator for a Polish pupil at St Francis de Sales Catholic Junior School. My subject was mainly English but I also got involved in teaching all other primary subjects. In July 2008 and 2009 I ran drama workshops for teenagers at a Christian camp in Poland.

Tutoring Approach:
What I love about tutoring is that it means personal approach and direct communication. It is amazing as one actually gets to know their student and can pay them as much attention as possible. Personal Description:
I am a final year BAhons English and Drama student about to graduate in July. Originally from Tyrone, I now live in Belfast and have easy access to and from most parts of Belfast. I'm an avid reader and enjoy acting and singing in various plays around the university. I aim to become a primary school teacher in the next 2 years, and then progressing to teach special educational needs. My experience working with children has taught me the importance of patience, communication, energy and commitment in my approach to them.

Teaching Experience:
1. I did work experience in a primary 2 class for four weeks in my local town, Holy Trinity P.S.
2. I volunteered at Mitchell House special needs school outside Belfast for four weeks in second year of university as part of a Tutoring in Schools certified program.
3. I worked as an invigilator at St. Marys Convent Grammar in Magherafelt during the summer, supervising G.C.S.E/AS/A2 Level examinations, then preparing and sealing the papers to be marked.
4. I established a drama group with another colleague called Stagewise last August and since then have continued the weekend, Christmas and summer drama workshops for children aged 4 to 11. This involves facilitating drama games and exercises designed to improve their communication, confidence, imagination, collaboration and acting skills. Focus is generally on the children's process rather than product, as I take pride in seeing a shy, nervous child develop, although we put on a play at the end of each semester for parents to see how well the children have improved. This involves script writing, directing, producing, PR and other general organisation and financial administration. Other duties include liaising with parents, health and safety, and thinking of new and creative ways to take the workshops each week.
5. I currently volunteer at Fleming Fulton Special school on the Upper Malone 3 days a week, assisting in the classroom, shadowing the teacher, and on Mondays taking special needs drama workshops for a year 8 class, using games and improvisation exercises to help them cope with social, educational, communication, and reaction and reflexivity skills.

Tutoring Approach:
This is my first time as a tutor however, as an approach I would, systematically work through important elements of the students syllabus and establish problem areas of the work that they may struggle with. Iaim to keep the sessions as light-hearted as possible, as I've discovered through my experience that children tend to lose focus and attention if the teaching is too intense. My preferred method of teaching is that information is processed best through visual, aural and kinesthetic learning depending on each student's needs. I would adapt lesson and plans around each individual student and so will spend the first session getting to know the student and establishing a rapport with them.

Personal Description:
As a professional actress, I have an extensive knowledge of a wide variety of texts. I was always a very strong English student and achieved straight As in all English Studies, Language and Literature through GCSE and A-Level. I then went on to the Oxford School of Drama where I gained a BA(Hons) in Professional Acting. This consisited largely of text work from the Greeks through to the present. A large part of my education was founded in poetry and I feel particularly confident teaching its comprehension and perception. I was awarded runner-up in the BBC Carleton Hobbs Award upon graduation for reading Shakespeare and poetry. Since graduation, I have worked largely on stage and radio, including work for the BBC and the Royal Shakespeare Company. I have a keen eye for English and a good grasp of tone, grammar and the voice of the writer.
Although by no means fluent, I have A-level French and would be happy to conduct part of my lessons in French or help out those needing a little extra help with translation and conversation.
Having just finished a six month run in the West End, I am currently available throughout the week and would be very happy to each in my home or to travel to others'.

Teaching Experience:
Although this would be my first tutoring position, I feel I have a wide variety of experience in other roles that make me a confident tutor. Whilst at school i ran all drama groups at an extra-curricular level including some children with dyslexia, dyspraxia and additional educational needs. I also taught year seven drama groups within the national curriculum. Through my A-Level studies and again at the Oxford School of Drama I participated in a mentor scheme, helping students lower in school through their work and supporting them pastorally, which I relished. This was always on a one-to-one basis which provided me with the ability to listen, adapt and personalise my mentoring.

I think tutoring can play a vital role in education. I am trained in the Performing Arts with distinctions in English and Theology.
With pursuing my acting career.my other passions include English Literature and Theology.

Teaching Experience:
I have many years experience working with children and adults in the field of facilitation and tutoring.
I taught English as a foreign language (through a Drama medium) in Italy and Peru. I thoroughly enjoyed this and worked with a varying age group.
I have also done a course in Drama Therapy and have worked with children on the autistic spectrum for over two years here in the UK.
I love teaching English and Drama. I have also freelanced as a proof reader and translator in English.

Tutoring Approach:
I naturally enjoy tutoring and so I find the people with whom I work enjoy it too. They do however walk out of my classes definitely having learnt something.

Hi! My name's Ed, I just graduated from Cambridge University with a degree in Classics, and I am now on a two year Professional Acting Course at Bristol Old Vic Theatre School.

Teaching Experience:
Since graduating from university I've been involved in all sorts of areas, tutoring Oxbridge applicants as well as students at both school and university level. The work I've done with my tutees has varied widely; I've assisted some specifically in translating school or university texts; I've introduced others, who wished to explore beyond their prescribed syllabus, to new areas of literature; and with others I've worked on developing ways in which one might go about analyzing literature or indeed approach translating a given text.

I've also taken up a part-time teaching post at Clifton College, which primarily involves coaching their prospective candidates for Oxford and Cambridge.

During my time at university, too, I participated in a number of theatre tours that actively involved taking workshops and running classes in the schools and the universities at which we performed, venues ranging from M.I.T. in Boston, to state universities in Kentucky, Maryland and Virginia, right through to schools in Switzerland, France and Belgium.

Tutoring Approach:
I think it's impossible to pin down a sure-fire method of effective tutoring for any given person. People are different, and different methods work with different people.

That said, I am a firm believer that you cannot simply speak at someone. Learning has to be an active process, and I think there has to be involvement from both sides for things to sink in. In this light, I do try to make things enjoyable and also to limit shortcuts; I'm of the view that it's far better to invest the time in getting firmly to grips with a subject, be it an instance of grammar or literary concept. In the long run that is a shortcut in itself.
