Teaching Experience: I am a qualified Scottish Hockey coach and for the past 10 months I have been coaching children from the ages of 3 - 9 once a week. In this coaching I have learnt how to communicate with a range of ages and how to make learning interactive and fun. I have also worked at a school for challenging children for a few days. In this time I have seen how to become more sensitive to children's needs and how to adapt teaching styles in order to make learning easier and more enjoyable. Teaching Experience: I am currently studying my MEd in Education at Bolton University, I have been working at Oldham College and am currently a supply teacher, gaining experience in the Further Education and secondary school sectors. The time I spent at Oldham College and at various places as a supply teacher has given me a wide insight to the types of typical classroom situations that I may face during my career and everyday provides another challenge and scenario to overcome. I feel that I have gained valuable experience and wish to continue on my journey of teaching both ICT and Multimedia. I have dealt with a range of difficult students from autistic through to deaf and mentally handicapt students, many of my students have overcome personal and mental problems to enable them to fulfill their studies. |

Teaching Experience: I have some experience of tutoring privately, and I'm very capable of explaining concepts in a variety of different ways, to find the method that best suits each individual. I also have presentation experience, and as such I have a very good grasp on how to present an idea and make it memorable. I also have a good understanding of examination procedures. |
Tutoring Approach: I take a fairly laid-back and friendly approach to tutoring, using my time early on to understand the student and their key problem areas. I aim to make the student feel relaxed so that they may work more efficiently, and also I believe this will help them to relax more in an examination environment. However I will never let the session divert away from the subject being taught. I feel that all the time that the student is learning something that will benefit them in the chosen subject, then progress is being made. I don't believe that a tutor should simply recycle the same lessons that the student is getting at school, and instead will tailor my approach to appeal to the student's strengths. My goal is to analyse the specific areas in which a student is struggling, and to focus on those while also teaching general skills such as time management. |
