Personal Description:
I am a Religious Education specialist who teaches at a secondary school in Norfolk. When I am not working (which isn't very often), I enjoy relaxing with long walks, a good book and time spent with friends. I used to work in the Royal Navy where I spent a long term working alongside the Royal Family. In 1999 I returned to university where I studied English Literature and Philosophy before becoming a teacher. I would describe myself as a calm and patient person who likes cutting through the nonsense that both students and teachers have to deal with on a daily basis.

Teaching Experience:
I currently teach at a secondary school in Norfolk and have seen dramatic improvements in exam grades in the last two years. I am also an examinations associate for Edexcel and mark papers for GCSE in Religious studies.

I have however taught in many different areas since graduating in 2002.

Tutoring Approach:
I enjoy helping students to pass exams as well as equiping them with the skills to retain information. I usually take a back to basics approach and build from there. From my own experience I know that many students do not achieve good grades simply because they do not have any structure to their thinking or their work. However do not be decieved by all this talk about structure, I am very laid back and enjoy watching students progress at a pace and in a way that is right for them. I am very happy to work to the students area of weakness and will tailor make work to the individuals needs.

I am 16 years of age and have just finished my compulsory education at Aberdare Boys' Comprehensive School. I am a member of St John Ambulance and am a fully qualified first aider with experience from operational duties. Personal Description:
My personal and vocational interests are varied and range from gardening to international politics. I have a passion for reading and culture, making me informed and knowledgeable in a wide variety of subjects. My weekends are spent walking my dog in the countryside, which helps me to collect my thoughts and allows me to appreciate life outside of the city in which I spend most of my life. While I currently work as a part-time teacher and journalist, I have held many positions of varying responsibility. Throughout these professional experiences, I have been engaged in some form of teaching or training and have taught a wide diversity of people in a range of subjects.

Teaching Experience:
Having been a gardener for many years, the first subject I taught was gardening and landscaping, which was for long-term unemployed people who were working on environmental regeneration projects. Since then, I have taught in various colleges and for many charities and training providers. My teaching qualification is in adult education, but I have experience working with young people, as well as excluded pupils and (ex-)offenders. My teaching has usually been in Media- or English-related subjects, but I have also taught Critical Thinking, Sociology and Film Studies, to name but a few.

Tutoring Approach:
My main aim is to ensure that tutor and tutee respect each other and are able to talk to each other properly. While passing exams is important, creating a space in which ideas and thoughts can be shared is also necessary to assist with the learning process. Being a qualified teacher, I am able to assist you in your educational development. As a person, I am able to help you and ensure that you get more out of the experience than just a piece of paper.

Personal Description:
I am currently doing an open degree in Law, I have 1 more year left until it is complete. I will then be going into teaching at a Secondary school.

I currently work in a Secondary school as a lesson cover teacher, I have just been taken on as an unqualified teacher in Maths keystage 3 & 4 and GCSE Law, also have a lesson which in ICT Maths, this class is based on functional skills to help with the students that struggle with key subjects.

Teaching Experience:
I have been working in a secondary school for two years as a classroom based teacher. Although i have a broad knowledge of most subjects taught in a school, my speciality is Maths and Law.

Tutoring Approach:
First of all I would need to establish exactly what the student is finding difficult about the subject and tackle this problem by giving easy ways to explain it. I have found from my previous teaching experience that students engage in approaching the subject by comparing it with their own lives, this gives them more of an understanding of the particular subject.

Personal Description:
As a learning Mentor in a Secondary Boys School I have ample experience in working with children on a one to one basis as well as working with pupils in small groups. I have A-Levels in English Literature, History and Sociology so feel confident teaching these subjects to an excellent standard. I have a Bachelor degree from Bristol University in Sociology and feel my experience and knowledge of this subject is outstanding. I am currently working in the maths department of a secondary school teaching boys up to GCSE so I feel i am more than qualified to teach this subject to this level.

Teaching Experience:
I am currently working in a Secondary School as a Learning Mentor in Maths, my main role is to advance the learning of Key Stage Three pupils as well as raising the achievement of GCSE students. My focus is aimed primarily on year 10 and 11 pupils as I withdraw them from their lessons to work with me in a more intensive atmosphere on topics which they may be struggling with in class. I also work one to one with a number of students after school to help them work on exam technique and Mathematics more generally. Last year I tutored children at Key Stage 2 level as they were working towards their SATS.

Tutoring Approach:
I feel confidence is key to the advancement of learning. For younger pupils especially, a firm, grounded confidence in the subject is essential if a pupil is to be stretched to their full potential.
In terms of pupils studying for exams, I think 'exam technique' is essential to the high achievement of pupils at GCSE and A-Level, but I also think that a firmer understanding of topics is key if the pupil is to succeed. I think a good working relationship with one's tutor is essential for for the process to be as productive as possible and communication between both parties is essential if the time spent is used to its full potential.

Personal Description:
I just started my DPhil in Political Theory at the University of Oxford. I did my M.A. and B.A. in Sociology and Politics at the University of Essex. I also am a qualified German teacher by the Goethe-Institut.

Teaching Experience:
I have worked for one month in a Language school in Germany as part as my education as a qualified German teacher. I have also previously tutored German pupils in English and volunteered helping children from migrant families with their homework.

Tutoring Approach:
When teaching languages and concepts in social sciences it is very important to encourage students to converse freely in class. In this way they can develop confidence in speaking and expressing their own thoughts. However to study successfully I also think it is important to follow a structured study-plan (in particular to learn Grammar and vocabulary) and to learn some self-study skills which will finally enable the student to make progress on their own. I think that everybody learns in a different way so it is important to find out what is the best approach from person to person.
