I am now studying at City Law School for the Graduate Diploma in Law (Law conversion course) and hope to practise as a barrister when I qualify.

I am a second year Oxford Undergraduate studying physics. I was at school at Winchester College where I boarded, giving me lots of opportunity to help other students of all abilities with their studies. I have three younger siblings who I have always helped with their learning.

Teaching Experience:

For the past two years I have been working as a private tutor in maths, physics and chemistry during the univeristy holidays. Tutoring Approach:

The Christmas holiday is a crucial period to get on track for the summer exams. Filling gaps early on saves time, builds confidence and enables students to revise effectively nearer the time.
I have tutored both A-level and GCSE students over the Christmas period for the last two years and helped them build effective strategies to prepare them for a very academically important few months. Former students have always then extended the tuition into the more intensive Easter period, when we make the final preparations to ensure that they get the grades they deserve. I am in a unique position of having had recent experience of these exams and also a real knack of explaining how to solve problems in an effective and productive way, an area I get particularly good feedback on. So I know exactly what it takes to prepare effectively and I am equipped with the necessary skills to ensure my students carry it out.
I have particular success teaching Maths to students who are struggling or under confident in the approach to GCSE and students that have fallen behind in class and need some one-on-one sessions to get them back on track.

Post doctoral researcher at University of Sheffield, working to improve mathematical computer models which predict onset of heart disease.

I recently completed a PhD in Bioengineering at Imperial College London, carrying out mathematical research on heart disease. My first degree was in Maths at the same university, and I took a Masters in Biomedical Research in between.

Teaching Experience:

I have tutored A-level maths privately for a few years, and also spent several weeks as a teaching assistant in a secondary school during my undergraduate degree as part of the Student Associates Scheme. Many of my contemporaries from university are science and mathematics teachers across England and overseas, and I periodically discuss teaching methods and curriculum changes with them.

During my PhD, I led undergraduate tutorials and problems classes in the Mathematics and several Engineering departments, teaching undergraduates from 1st year to 4th year. The courses include Mathematical Methods, Matlab, Fluid Mechanics, PDEs, Modelling in Biology, Heat and Mass Transfer. I also carried out 1-1 tuition for undergraduates at departmental request. I am a very approachable person and I prefer interactive sessions, although I can tailor the tuition style to the individual.

Tutoring Approach:

I prefer to know the subject program in advance and to discuss the weak points of the student about it. Therefore, we can understand how much needs to be done and on what we need to focus our work.
My personal approach on study has always been towards the understanding of the subject more than merely memorize it. Often this may look difficult, but almost everything can be made simpler with practical examples and once understood it is unlikely to forget it. Hence, I tend to transfer the same approach, which worked so well with me, to the tutees.

The tutoring is possible at the Imperial College or at your home.
