Personal Description:
I have been tutoring students for the last 7 years and have broad experience in tutoring at the GCSE and A levels in Biology and Life Science. I have a PhD in Biochemistry from the University of Bristol, and a Masters in Biological Sciences from the University of Leicester. I have been in academia for the last 10 years and am passionate about the subjects I teach.

I adopt an interactive approach with the tutee, providing interesting examples to break the monotony and to help the tutee remember the subject better. My teaching style is methodical, and the progress of my students is of paramount importance. I take into account the individual needs of the tutee so that I can help the tutee achieve a good grade. I can provide online tutoring as well as travel to the tutee's home.

Teaching Experience:

I am currently tutoring A level and GCSE students in Biology and my experience in tutoring dates back to more than 7 years. I have also tutored undergraduate students at Bristol and Reading University. In addition to online tutoring, I am also able to tutor offline and cater to tailor-made courses as well as to individual requirements of the student.

Tutoring Approach:

My aim is to try and imbibe in my student a liking of the subject as well as help him/her achieve a high grade. My approach is very interactive and I like to break the factual monotony of the subjects by providing interesting examples which will help to draw the tutee's attention as well help her to remember. I try to interact with the tutee on a one to one basis and identify the weak and strong areas. I then focus on these areas and work accordingly bearing in mind the tutees requirements. I am a committed individual and do my best to keep the interests of the tutee on the forefront.

Personal Description:
Hello! I am 37 years old, originally from Denmark and moved to the UK 12 years ago for my degree. Before teaching, I worked as a monkey veterinary technician in the US, conducted my Masters research on crop-raiding macaques in Indonesia, and helped to run a volunteer expedition in the Amazon. After a couple of years of teaching in secondary school as a Science and Spanish teacher, I heard the call of the wild again and travelled for a year through Mexico and Central America. I am now working for an independent school in the Rochdale area and have gained experience tutoring a wide range of subjects and a wide range of ages.

I have an up to date enhanced CRB.

Teaching Experience:

I completed my teaching degree in 2007 at Canterbury Christ Church University. I trained in two very different types of schools, private Catholic school and selective high school, which gave me the experience to engage students of different abilities and backgrounds. I also received training to teach EAL and SEN students. My teaching qualification is in Science, but as a fluent Spanish linguist I have also taught Spanish to both adults and children. I teach Biology, Chemistry and Physics up to GCSE level, and other subjects I currently teach include Maths up to GCSE level and English up to Key Stage 3.

Tutoring Approach:

Students, young and old, don't like subjects they don't think they can succeed in. My approach is to break down material, relate it to everyday life and interests, and positively reinforce all the way to build up confidence. I am stubborn (!) and I don't give up until it's mastered.

Personal Description:
Worried you or your kid might be lacking at studies????? No worries!!!! I am here to help.
I am a Bio-medical Sciences graduate from UK's one of the best universities, i.e. King's College London (Ranked top 25 in the world) and I believe, I can be of help. Although I studied Biomedical Sciences at university, Maths has always been my favourite subject so I am ready to help in Maths and all the Sciences..
On a different note, though I may not have a updated CRB check, I had one just couple of years back and also I used to work as a volunteer at a local hospital so you know that i am safe to be around the pupils.

Teaching Experience:

I have been a private tutor for many years now and have a record of 93% of my tutees so far having obtained grade A or above in the respective subjects with none of my tutees so far ever obtaining lower than B.
It all started when I was a prefect at my school and college where I used to help students of different levels (including my friends from my own year) in learning difficult topics (in maths and science) and in preparing for exams. I have also helped few teachers several times during an actual school lesson as teacher's assistant. But most importantly, in these many years as a private tutor, I have helped a lot of pupils only do well in their GCSEs and A-level. So far they have all achieved much higher standard than they were predicted by their teachers and this success of all these past tutees of mine makes me work even harder with all the new ones every year.

Just to assure you that I am not shy of putting in harwork I would like to bring to your attention that I did all my GCSEs in a single year instead of 2 and also ended up doing 2 of the subjects early. Even though maths was one of the early subjects, I still got A* and went on to do AS maths in the same year in which I also got A. So, may be I can help with not only Maths and sciences but also with management of time and work loads along with building their confidence and bringing out their desire to learn.

Tutoring Approach:

Will depend on the needs of the tutee as everyone is different but one thing that remains same for all is the commitment and the level of sincerity from me.

Personal Description:
Before becoming self employed Crofton worked as an industrial research scientist in Electronic materials and Bioelectronics at the Plessey Research centre, then as a Department head (Nanotechnology Sensors) with GEC Marconi in Materials Technology until 2001. He now works as a consultant to the DTI and EC in Medical/physics research during the day while devoting the after school hours to Private tuition. With his previous experience in interviewing prospective job applicants and sourcing funding for research and development Crofton is able to help candidates at A level to present their strengths in university applications and is well placed to discuss possible progression routes.

Teaching Experience:

Crofton offers tuition in Biology, Chemistry and Physics at AS and A2 levels and Maths at GCSE. He is a graduate of University College, Oxford where he gained his degree in Biochemistry in 1975. He has A levels in Chemistry, Biology, Physics and Maths . Since becoming self employed he has worked for over 12 years as a private tutor in the sciences typically teaching 15 to 18 hours a week mainly after school hours.

Tutoring Approach:

Crofton tailors the tuition to the individual needs of the learner, using his extensive knowledge of the subject he patiently explains the fundamentals of processes, thereby helping the student to grasp more advanced concepts. Exam success has resulted for many students through intensive one-to-one sessions, especially through coaching in exam technique by systematically doing past papers followed by intensive analysis of answers with the mark scheme. It goes without saying that the learner's commitment to self-study and thorough revision is the key factor in achieving good results. For this reason the student should be prepared to commit to one hours home work each week.
Crofton has helped many students to achieve the grade they need for admission to their chosen University course, including helping many students into medical and veterinary College where A grades in Chemistry are mandatory. He is experienced in the syllabus of all the major exam boards including OCR, Edexcel and AQA. Many students start private tuition after having been disappointed with their AS results and stay on through to their A2 exams, often improving their grades by two or three places. This works well on the basis of one hour's tuition a week and approximately one hour's homework.

Personal Description:
I have a very broad based scientific knowledge that I have developed throughout a lifetime devoted to academic and applied research. I hold a BSc degree in chemistry and zoology and a PhD in endocrine physiology. I have worked abroad in a medical research laboratory, at the Max plank Institute for Biochemistry, where I investigated the genetic basis for hereditary diseases of connective tissue. During that time I became a fluent German speaker. Subsequently I worked for over 25 years as a senior scientist at Rothamsted Research, which is a world renowned Plant Research Institute. At Rothamsted I acquired specialised knowledge in soil science, plant nutrient acquisition, molecular biology, metabolite chemistry, plant biotic stress and chemical ecology. Consequently, I can offer an in depth and up to date knowledge of a number of different areas relevant to the A level biology and chemistry curricula and to the three GCSE science subjects. Also, I have a unique perspective that I bring to my tutoring that emanates from my professional scientific experience. I believe that I can introduce a fresh angle to the learning experience that builds upon that acquired in the class room.

Teaching Experience:

Through out my career as a scientist, teaching and mentoring has been an integral part of my activities. I have taught a number of graduate and undergraduate students, visiting workers, other colleagues and junior members of staff to acquire theoretical, practical and communication (both written and oral) skills. I have undertaken in house training as a PhD supervisor and I have played a major role in the supervision of at least six PhD students and three bursary students. All have successfully completed their experimental tasks, written their theses and gone on to progress their careers.
I am an experienced speaker at International and National conferences and I have delivered seminars and lectures to both specialist and non specialist audiences.
I have organised practical projects for groups of students from local secondary schools as part of the requirement for the CREST award. One of the projects involved measuring vitamin C levels in different foods and the students were surprised to discover that cabbage was the best source. In another project different varieties of barley were tested for their tolerance to high levels of salt and the students were able to establish that the most tolerant varieties accumulated salt in their leaves.
Since leaving full time science (due to funding cuts) I have initiated a career in private tutoring to A level and GCSE students. I have been teaching up to thirty pupils concurrently, either in my home or in their own homes. I have been employed at Kings College London to teach an A level Chemistry access course, which involves delivering 4 hours of lectures per week to a group of students from overseas. I have also taken a course to qualify as a teacher of English as a foreign language (CELTA/PTLLS). During the course I gained experience in teaching both elementary and advanced intermediate adult students from a range of different nationalities.
I was a school governor for many years and partly as a result of this I was often called upon to prepare students for university interviews, particularly for science, medicine and dentistry.

Tutoring Approach:

I take a student centred approach to teaching, trying to understand the needs of the individual pupil and tailoring the lesson content accordingly. By limiting the amount of "teacher talk" at the outset I try to provide the student with the opportunity to convey what their interests and aptitudes are and what areas of the subject they may be struggling with, so that they can benefit maximally from my tutoring. I consider it essential that I build their confidence and create an atmosphere where they are happy to participate actively in the lessons and test out their ideas. I attribute great importance to positive rapport with the student and try to develop a trusting relationship, both with the pupil and, if apropriate, with the parents.
I plan the lessons carefully, always starting with targeted questions before moving on to detailed explanations of problem areas. I have a large collection of past papers which I use to re enforce the learning and check understanding. For particularly difficult topics, photosynthesis, respiration and oxidative phosphorylation for example, I find it helpful to recap in the subsequent lesson to ensure that the student has grasped the important concepts inorder to enable them to answer the questions confidently in an exam situation.
Obviously, I enjoy teaching keen students who have an ambition to pursue science further but I also find it rewarding to make lessons interesting and enjoable for those who are less engaged with the subject.

Personal Description:
I'm an extremely strong mathematician, scoring top grades through school (including scoring 300/300 in my AS Level Further Maths), and went on to a heavily maths-based degree in Civil Engineering with Management.

Aside from teaching Maths, I've had a wide range of experiences - I've helped set up an community project in my friend's village in Tanzania and have taught some of our sponsored students out there. I'm currently training to be an actor, and am filling the gaps with supply teaching and private tutoring.

I'm really busy at the moment, but can probably manage new tutees who are situated conveniently along the East London Line between about Sydenham and Whitechapel.

Teaching Experience:

* Teaching and working with young people as a volunteer or professionally since 2004.

* Qualified as a Maths teacher in 2006.

* Held long term posts in 4 secondary schools, ranging from very challenging schools through to a high performing grammar school.

* Have taught the full ability range from low ability Year 7 through to A Level Further Maths.

* GCSE Maths Examiner since March 2012.

* Tutoring 9-18 year olds since April 2012.

Tutoring Approach:

I'm keen to help pupils understand how maths works, and not simply learn a standard set of instructions to follow to reach the "right" answer.

With the new type of functional Maths GCSE questions, having a good understanding is more important than ever - students simply cannot get by on rote-learning the method alone any more. Students need to be able to explain their answer clearly, and I make sure I incorporate this into my lessons.

Of course, approach will vary substantially depending on the student.

Students who are very close to their exams will need more focus on how to get the best result.

With younger students there will be more opportunity to focus on their understanding, and exploring how Maths works. I try to avoid simply teaching "How To Get The Right Answer To This Particular Type Of Exam Question", which might get them through tests in the short term, but is rather less helpful to them in the long term.

As a tutor I'd be choosing the most appropriate approach for the student.

Although I specialise in Maths, I am more than comfortable with science, and can also help students up to secondary school level in this subject.

Personal Description:
I am currently an actor at the Central School of Speech and Drama, having already studied Modern Languages (French and Spanish) at the University of Durham which included time living and studying in Vigo (Spain) and Clermont-Ferrand (France).

Teaching Experience:

Following completion of my CELTA qualification in Spain in 2007 (which involved teaching adult learners of English), I have variety of experience in teaching from helping fellow students at University, teaching English in a French Lyce and at summer school in the UK.

Tutoring Approach:

The important part of tutoring is creating a more individual approach to learning and the subject or subjects. I feel it is important to discover what about the subject interests the tutee or how we can hook the topic to the individual so that you feel the desire to learn more about the subject of your own accord. It is important that learning is fun and not a chore and so, as well as thoroughly working towards any coming assessments, I like to work around the subject to find what it is about the subject is important to you so that the learning becomes grounded in the individual which gives a deeper knowledge and understanding of the subject.

Personal Description:
I am an Aerospace Engineer. Teaching is my passion and I have been teaching for past three years.I believe education is essential in today's world and it is something which once in hand can never be taken away. My style of teaching is to bond with the student because they need encouragement from those closer to their age as i am only 21 years old. I teach Mathematics and Physics up to A-levels and Mathematics and science up to GCSE.

Teaching Experience:

I have been doing home tuitions and also been teaching in tuition centres across London for past 3 years.

Tutoring Approach:

Most of us learn without ever being taught how. As in other activities there are efficient ways of going about the learning process. In fact, the first step to efficient learning is to realise that learning doesn't just happen when you sit down with a book, studying is a skill which you need to acquire and practice and perfect. I bring forward a very unique way of teaching, of which I like the Student to relate to experiences they may have come across. I personally coming from an Engineering background like to use Logic to understand how things work and explain them in a way which is best suited to an individual.

Personal Description:
A highly energetic and enthusiastic individual, specializing in teaching Biology,Chemistry,Physics, Mathematics and IELTs.I am a friendly person and a professional tutor. By qualification, I am a Doctor of Pharmacy and also hold an M Phil degree in Pharmaceutics. i have also got an overall score of 8 bands in IELTs which demonstrates my strong communication skills. My tutoring experience has made me patient and analytical, so, I always adapt the most suitable teaching approach which is individualized based on a student`s personality, mental caliber and his attitude towards learning. In addition to this, I have myself got distinctions throughout my academic career.

What makes me passionate about teaching is the fact that I have always been rejoiced by the thought of making a positive contribution to other people`s lives, and teaching young students, by far, is the most effective way of doing so. I am deeply inspired by my primary school math teacher whose incredible teaching skills transformed me into a bright and hardworking student from a very mediocre and average one. It was the time when I realized that incorporating social skills successfully into the routine methods of teaching can make learning far more interesting and easy.

I customize my teaching style according to the learning needs and mental caliber of the student. Generally, I start a new lesson by giving the student a detailed concept of the scientific topic. Later on, I elaborate the general and specific details of the topic with the help of examples. Afterwards, I put forth similar problems in front of the student to solve by himself, in order to assess his understanding of the topic. I also share with my students all the possible questions and different forms of a question that they might come across in the examination out of a selected topic. Moreover, I also give them examination techniques to solve such problems effectively.

Teaching Experience:

9 years of teaching experience of science subjects(Physics, Chemistry, Biology), English and Math to the students of KS2, KS3, GCSE and A levels.I started my teaching career in 2004 with A-Level and GCSE teaching. In 2008, when I completed my Pharmacy Degree, I joined professional bodies as a teacher. I have also been tutoring IELTs for the last two years.

Tutoring Approach:

I customize my teaching to learning needs and mental caliber of student. Generally, I start a new lesson by giving the student a detailed concept about the scientific topic. Personal Description:
I'm a qualified teacher with experience in tutoring students from GCSE to undergraduate level. I received a Physics degree from Cardiff University, before getting married and moving to Sheffield to do my teacher training and a PhD.

Throughout this time I have been involved in teaching and tutoring, whether more formally in schools and at Sheffield University, or more informal private tuition to GCSE students and an engineering undergraduate.

My teaching seeks to develop understanding, whilst being enjoyable, and generally includes practical activities as well as written and oral work. In this respect I have spent many sessions in primary schools, secondary schools and public spaces (including the Winter Gardens, Sheffield) doing public Science teaching, demonstrations and promotions. This has helped me learn how to help everyone understand various aspects of Maths and Science, regardless of background or age.

Outside of teaching and tutoring I enjoy cycling and getting out into the Peak district.

Teaching Experience:

Whilst completing my teacher training I taught students from 12-18 and across the ability spectrum in all three Sciences.

Since then I have been involved in delivering tutorials and lectures at Sheffield University to undergraduate students in Physics and Maths. During this time I have privately tutored both undergraduate and GCSE students.

Tutoring Approach:

I vary my approach to tutoring depending on the needs, ability and age of the student, but in all cases I'm patient, friendly and encouraging.

When there is sufficient time, students are encouraged to complete some diagnostic work to establish both their ability and confidence across the curriculum. This allows the tutorials to be planned appropriately for each specific student.

Just before the exam, exam technique help and troubleshooting can make a significant difference to the students performance and confidence, even with just one or two sessions.

Personal Description:
I am a University student currently studying undergraduate Psychology at Staffordshire University.
I am reliable, friendly and very enthusiastic about teaching.

Teaching Experience:

I have tutored GCSE level and below students while studying for GCSE's as well as while studying for my A-Levels informally.

Tutoring Approach:

I understand that students don`t all think the same way and what method of learning might work for one student may not work for all students. I try as much as I can to cater to individuals to ensure they get the most out of my sessions.
I believe that with the right teaching and motivation, students can gain appreciation for any subject and enjoy rather than just endure the learning process.
