Personal Description:
I've done my bachelors and Masters in Electrical Engineeering and presently working in the quantitative research department of an investment bank.

Teaching Experience:

I've taught Mathematics, Physics and Chemisry to GCSE and A-Level students for about 4 years.

Tutoring Approach:

I believe in discussion-based tutoring rather than lecture-based turoting. I strongly believe students must be involved in the learning as much as possible and to this end, I take their input, argue why something is possible or otherwise giving logical reasons. I've always encouraged students to express their views.

Personal Description:
I am currently studying Dentistry at King's College London. I was educated at North London Collegiate School, where I took both my GCSE's and A-Levels, and was granted a full academic scholarship for the duration of my studies.

I received 10 A* in my GCSEs, including completion of my Mathematics GCSE 1 year early, after which I continued to complete an Additional Freestanding Further Mathematics qualification during my final GCSE year, for which I achieved the highest grade of A.I decided to continue with Biology, Chemistry, Maths, Further Maths (AS), and English for higher education, and achieved all A's in my AS-Levels, as well as all A's in my A2's, with 100% in several of the Biology, Chemistry, Maths and English modules, including some synoptic modules.

In year 12, I was Managing Director of a Young Enterprise company, which I found both enjoyable, but at the same time demanding of responsibility.I further developed my managing skills in the summers between university years, as I worked as Duty Manager and Marketing Manager of a car rental company. In my spare time, I enjoy playing sport and writing for student journals or magazines.Tutoring has become the main focus of my time for a number of years now

Teaching Experience:

I have tutored numerous students for the past 7 years, spanning a range of ages from 4 years old to 19 years old, some of whom have had learning difficulties or special needs. The qualifications for which I have tutored include SATs (year 6 and year 9), 11+ and 7+ entrance examinations, GCSE's and A-Levels, as well as first year university standard. Some students have undertaken intensive tuition in the few weeks prior to their exams, whilst others have maintained long-term commitments to lessons, from building a firm foundation, to paying attention to fine and intricate detail essential for grades reflecting excellence. I aim to deliver a level of teaching that ensures a success rate in which the student reaches their full potential, often resulting in the acceptance of the students into their desired school, or achieving a grade previously unreachable; perceived by both their teachers at school, or the student themselves.

I am confident that any of my students, or their parents, would be more than happy to provide references upon request.

Tutoring Approach:

Having consistently achieved the highest grades, reflected in my 100% grades in many A-Level modules and the annual renewal of my academic scholarship at school, I feel that I am able to impart to my students the knowledge of what the examiners are seeking, as well as a detailed understanding of the task at hand. Commencing teaching whilst still in my early GCSE years, I have grown to develop the ability to study for my qualifications at a level of excellence, whilst simultaneously further my skills in conferring this excellence to my students. Thus learning with the intent of teaching, has also been key to my own academic success.

My policy when tutoring is the concept that if a student develops an enjoyment for the subject being taught, they will, in turn, invest the effort required for improvement.Once they begin improving and understand more of the material taught, their love of the subject should develop further. Hoping to instill an enjoyment of the subject is therefore my primary belief in a successful approach to their studies.

Although some work will be completed in lessons, I view a lesson as quality teaching time, and therefore lessons will never be conducted where I provide work, leave the student, and mark it eventually. This, in my view, wastes both the student's time, and their parent's money. My feeling of responsibility for my students ensures that during lesson time, I deliver the best that I possibly can, while bringing out the best in the student, so that every lesson target is achieved by the end.My exam results reflect that I can achieve full marks, and my aim for my students is no less than what I desire for myself. I hope to not only teach my students what they need to know, but also how to study and learn what they need to know, so that they can perform well in examinations.

I believe that homework is necessary to ensure that what is being taught in lessons can be used outside lessons also. However, homework is given taking into account the student's available free time, and is not meant to be a burden, more than a help.

The shorter age gap between my students and I means that I can still relate to the demands and requirements of school, while at the same time offer valuable advice having recently completed the schooling system, with a better insight into the exact demands of the examiners and mark schemes than an older, more distant tutor.Overall, it is important that lessons should be both fun and educational, and although I may at times be strict in order to ensure that progress is being made, my students have certainly viewed me as more of an advisory friend than a strict and distant teacher.

Personal Description:
I enjoy teaching and consider myself both easy going and approachable, whilst being firm and demanding enough to get the best out of any potential student. I recently graduated with a high 2:1 in biochemistry (with a year in industry) from The University York and am currently working towards an MRes in molecular plant biology and biotechnology at Imperial College London. Upon completing the MRes I intend to further my research interests by undertaking a PhD.

Teaching Experience:

At university I would often take part in student led tutorials and workshops, allowing me to hone my teaching and listening skills. This is coupled with considerable prior experience tutoring both friends, family and students of all ages in various subject areas, with high levels of success. I am currently tutoring key stage 3 biology, chemistry and physics.

Tutoring Approach:

I have an informal teaching style and seek to understand the particular educational requirements of each individual tutee. To this end I will endeavor to promote educational development through note taking, written exercises, case studies, question and discussion periods, as well as with independent study. When the time comes for formal examinations the learning focus will shift to past paper practice and improving general examination technique. I have a firm belief in always being approachable for any type of question, great or small and l like to foster an inquisitive relationship with my tutee. Finally, it is worth mentioning that I am willing to do an initial hour long 'taster' tutorial free of charge.

Personal Description:
I am currently studying focusing on my tuition and this is now my main profession. I have recently finished studying Neuroscience at UCL. I have a very enthusiastic approach to learning and believe the combination of determination and attitude are the recipe for success. I am patient and understanding, but am aware that, at times, discipline needs to be enforced (with the younger students). I'm here to improve exam results and develop the general knowledge and attitude of my students to the subjects. I can provide a very efficient 'crash course' in the run up to exams, whilst also maintain a long term relationship with students to ensure they consistently are making the most of their academic opportunities and examinations.

Teaching Experience:

I have tutored a variety of ages - from 4 to 18 year-olds. I am a part time teaching assistant for a year 1 class, teaching hand writing and encouraging concentration and curiosity. I have been tutoring for over six years now and have now taken up tutoring on a full-time basis. As I have recently been a student, the syllabus is still fresh in my mind and I have a better understanding of the stresses and confusions of the syllabus. I can tutor in a focused manner for specific exams, such as GCSEs or entrance exams and I can also tutor to improve students' general ability and understanding of their current syllabus, to ensure that school life is made more manageable and any exams can be planned for in advance. I have an extremely good previous record with my students and am yet to have a student who has not achieved the school they want. As in my academic career, I had a multitude of entrance exams to gain a place in my number one institution.

I have consistently had high grades - from receiving 10*s at GCSE, all As at A-Level and a first in my degree in Neuroscience. I also have a multitude of excellent references from my previous and current students. I therefore believe, whilst I am always improving myself and my tutoring skills, I have a wealth of experience behind me to help any students achieve their goals.

Tutoring Approach:

I comprehend the need for excellence under exam conditions and I encourage students to learn exam techniques from a young age. However, I strongly believe that the attitude and enthusiasm for a subject is the key to success. It is important not to focus solely on exams and to develop knowledge for personal development and improvement. I adapt my teaching styles to each student; each lesson is based on the student's current ability and what each students' personal goals are.

Personal Description:
I am a 43 year old male, a Veterinary Graduate, married to an Accountant. We have a son who is 5 years old and in year one. I do a lot of charity wok and especially produce leaflets on health education programme and distribute among the local community. I take pride in what I do and I always do well to excel.

Teaching Experience:

I have years of experience in private teaching from home both in Sri Lanka and England. I can give extra time and commitment to the pupil to make sure that the pupils do well and always n top in their class.

Tutoring Approach:

I value and appreciate the pupil as an individual. I maintain good discipline while the pupil needs to understand/recognise the need for it. I have a consistency of approach when teaching.
I genuinely care about my pupils and I want them to succeed. I listen and respond to their ideas rather than just assessing or judging. I show personal enthusiasm for what I am teaching. I am aware that pupils learn at different speeds, some pupils will require much greater support and/or time in completing tasks and therefore develop a sense of when it is appropriate to move on to the next phase of teaching, when to stop and go back over things, when to pause for consolidation, when to accelerate the pace of learning. I use different Interaction methods such as informing, describing, explaining, modelling, demonstrating, coaching, listening, watching, questioning in order to get my pupil succeed. I can make a difference in your child's education.

Personal Description:
I am a friendly, experienced and mature tutor. I enjoy explaining concepts at all levels, using analogies and examples where appropriate. I have a relaxed rapport with all levels of students. I have coached my own (twin) students up to GCSE level, and currently to AS and A2 levels in all the subjects I offer. Many of my studies have passed with A grades and some have even gone onto Professorships at Cambridge University. I offer special coached tailoring to help with Cambridge University entry as part of the A-level courses. This is all-inclusive - I have two Cambridge University doctorates, and College memberships. I also offer advice and marking on essays at all levels. I have examined up to first-degree, PhD and MD standards, both nationally and internationally.

Teaching Experience:

Extensive. Lecturing, supervisions, one-to-one at all levels, up to university postgraduate level.

Tutoring Approach:

Relaxed, informal. The student leads the pace, though I do try to keep on track with targets. I realise this is pointless if a student fails to grasp concepts, and therefore I offer extensive revision and refresher modules.

Also, on our first meeting I offer 30 minutes free for us to get to know each other and for us to understand your problems and concerns, and how they might be addressed. So you get 1.5 hours for the price of one on this occasion.

For higher levels, I will help access references to published work if required.

Personal Description:
I am a mid-forties mother of two, ex-teacher now working as a Biochemist within the NHS.
I have a degree in Food Science, which contained substantial amounts of nutrition, chemistry, Biochemistry and Microbiology, which I followed with a PGCE in Home Economics and General Science. Since leaving teaching I have undertaken a number of training roles within the workplace, including one to one training and delivery of personal skills courses, and have also been involved in the supervision and co-ordination of work experience for teenagers.
I relate well to young people, and run the childrens group at my local church, in addition to voluntary help with local scout and music groups. I acheived grade VI standard in clarinet, at school, continued tuition at university and continue to play regularly.

Teaching Experience:

I have taught Home Economics, including nutrition and sociology, to A-level, and science to GCSE level. I also helped with one to one tuition to improve students basic english. In addition I have gained a lot of experience in the biochemical sciences since transferring to the pharmaceutical sector within the NHS, giving regular one to one training to laboratory staff.

Tutoring Approach:

I offer a friendly interactive approach to learning, with the aim of improving students confidence in their own abilities, and working to improve barriers to learning. I feel it is vital that the student enjoys the sessions and finds them interesting, and also recognises that they have made progress. I would work with the student to identify initial targets, based on any relevant subject syllabus or guideline and include consideration of feedback given by their current teachers. We would then develop a programme of tuition, which would also include some independent work by the student and regular review of progress.

Personal Description:
Hello! I am 33 years old, originally from Denmark and moved to the UK 8 years ago for my degree. Before teaching, I worked as a monkey veterinary technician in the US, conducted my Masters research on crop-raiding macaques in Indonesia, and helped to run a volunteer expedition in the Amazon. After a couple of years of teaching, I heard the call of the wild again and travelled for a year through Mexico and Central America, from where I have recently returned. But through all of my disparate and exotic experiences, I maintained a passion for education, teaching and tutoring, and used my skills to volunteer, teaching in various communities along the way.

My CRB is currently being updated as I have been out of the country for more than 3 months.

Teaching Experience:

I completed my teaching degree in 2007 at Canterbury Christ Church University. I trained in two very different types of schools, private Catholic school and selective high school, which gave me the experience to engage students of different abilities and backgrounds. I also received training to teach EAL and SEN students. I am a qualified teacher of Science, but as a fluent Spanish linguist also taught Spanish as part of my regular timetable. I teach Biology up to A level, Chemistry and Physics up to GCSE level.

Tutoring Approach:

Students, young and old, don't like subjects they don't think they can succeed in. My approach is to break down material, relate it to everyday life and interests, and positively reinforce all the way to build up confidence. I am stubborn (!) and I don't give up until it's mastered.

Personal Description:
I am currently undertaking graduate entry medicine at Imperial College London having previously done a BSc in Biochemistry at Imperial and a MSc at Oxford in immunology. In addition i am also a subwarden in university halls, this involves ensuring the pastoral care and discipline of the students whilst allowing them to make mistakes and grow into adults.

On top of my education i am a second lieutenant in the royal army medical corp.

Teaching Experience:

I am currently teaching a range of students form GCSE to university level. In addition to subject specific tuition i am helping several students with medical school applications and university applications; this involves advising on work experience, entrance exam preparation and interview skills.

In addition to my formal tutoring i also help several first year undergraduate medical students and graduate medical student get to grips with the core principles of physiology and pathology.

Tutoring Approach:

i believe that students should not be spoon fed or just be taught to a syllabus as this results in stunting the students intellectual growth. Students should learn to question and be inquisitive and this is something i try to instil in my students. However, if someone is finding a topic particularly more challenging i try to find everyday relatable concepts that can be used to aid in their understanding.

Often students have the ability and knowledge but lack the confidence to apply it; i try to develop their belief in themselves which will pay dividends in the future.
