I am currently a first year student at Brighton University, studying Law with Business. Before that I was at Strodes College in Egham where I studied Law and Business to A Level and IT, Economics and English to AS Level. As I said above, I'm a big believer in trying to keep the subject interesting and the student engaged. Obviously there are some things which just need to be learned (e.g. chemical equations), but if they can be understood, learning them becomes that much easier. I spent 6 months teaching English to children aged 8 - 16 in a school in the heart of the ancient city of Varanasi (North India). During my time there I learned to respect that each student has their own individual needs and works at their own pace. I act as a part-time consultant to a start-up firm (Tacit Fusion Inc.). My job mainly consists of going through complex scientific concepts with the representatives of the company in a way that a non-scientist or less matured scientist could understand.

Rugby Team

I regularly help coach training sessions, guiding the team through various drills to improve their fitness and understanding of the game. Due to the nature of the University, the Rugby team often consists of new students each year, meaning that it is quite a task to get a team together to a decent standard enough to win games. This year, through more focused training, as a team we were able to finish on a high note, winning our last game of the season.

Tutoring Approach:
Drawing from my own experiences as a student I have observed some key characteristics that differentiate a good teacher from a bad one and try to follow these when I mentor my students:

Teaching through examples
Making classes fun and being approachable
Ability to lead the student towards an independent style of learning whereby they are self-sufficient in study
Setting clear objectives that are actually realistic and reachable

I like to take a less formal approach because I realise that people learn best when they are comfortable and not worried about issues other than the work at hand. Each session will be tailored especially for that particular students needs, working through the syllabus at a pace that stretches their mind yet is something they are able to do. I try to use pictures, visual aids, even stories and analogies to help the student to learn and most importantly retain concepts. I then hold regular revision sessions with the student to reinforce the learning from previous weeks and move towards going through examination questions. I expect the student to put in hard work as I can only help to motivate and guide them through the sessions if they want to learn.

Teaching Experience:
I am currently working at Explore Learning which is designed to help children with their national curriculum between the ages of 5 and 14. This has given me valuable experience on many different teaching techniques as well as keeping up to date with the new learning strategies that children are using in their day to day learning at school.
I have also tutored Biology to small groups of students and one on one in the years below me whilst I was at school completing my A levels.
On a sporting level I gained my CASI snowboarding qualification last year and teach snowboarding with Interski in my university holidays.

I am currently a student studying Management BA at Leicester University after which I wish to pursue a career within consultancy. I have twelve GCSE pass grades as well as four A-levels in Business Studies, Economics, History and English all of which have been achieved whilst at Bexley Grammar School. I am a vibrant young individual who is keen and energetic in teaching those at much younger youth; I go by 'nothing is impossible' approach and will be determined to pass my teachings in a fun yet competitive manner. I am also quite an active character with hobbies such as cycling and basketball.
