Personal Description:
I am 53 years of age, married with 3 children.

Teaching Experience:

I am a qualified Secondary Science School teacher and have 9 years experience as a private tutor

Tutoring Approach:

I believe that one to one tuition can greatly increase both a students confidence and knowledge in a subject. I try to create an informal and relaxing atmosphere by getting to know the student. I have an extensive knowledge of all the syllabuses. I use very effective methods to enable the student to grasp any difficult concepts and eventually concentrate on exam questions and technique. I help the student to take responsibility for their own learning and understand the best methods for learning (such as use of mind maps). The great majority of my students have achieved exam results which have far exceeded their expectations.

Personal Description:
I am a professional, dedicated and enthusiastic tutor with over 20 years experience, extremely quick at identifying student problem areas and devising the most efficient solutions, sometimes with budget or time constraints. Where necessary I focus on exam technique as I find many capable and knowledgeable students gain confidence (and marks!) once these skills are taught.

I am well-liked by my tutees and my services are frequently recommended to siblings and friends.

Teaching Experience:

As well as many years continuous home-tutoring experience, I have taught in both state and private sectors since 1986; examples being Surrey College (Guildford), Horsell High School (Woking) and Farnborough College of Technology, and as recently as April 2013, the prestigious Seaford College in Petworth, W.Sussex.

I have a vast library of past examination papers in all my subjects at GCSE and GCE A level for Edexcel, AQA and OCR examining boards.

In addition I have some experience tutoring both common entrance and Baccalaureate Maths, Physics and Chemistry.

Tutoring Approach:

I appreciate that for most tutees private tuition represents a workload additional to both schoolwork and homework.

Therefore I aim to make tuition as interesting, interactive and productive as possible- whilst focusing on their objectives- usually a target examination grade. Experience has shown that students can expect learning progress with an experienced tutor such as myself to be 3-5 times faster than could be made in a typical school classroom, whilst simultaneously gaining a fuller understanding of the topics covered.

Personal Description:
I have done My M.sc. Physics & M.Sc. Mobile and Satellite Communications. I studies Chemistry, Mathematics and Physics as major subjects in B.Sc. I am a passionate teacher and well aware of the teacher student relationship.I understand students difficulties in understanding difficult concepts and know how to help them understand.

Teaching Experience:

I am teaching GCSE/A Level students from previous seven years. I have prepared my own exam based helping material for students which proves really helpful for them. Most of my students get A/A* grades.

Tutoring Approach:

Well the purpose of hiring a tutor is to understand concepts which a student neither can understand in a class nor himself/herself.Only tutoring gives a student one to one attention of the teacher and thus better understanding.
My approach is to both, develop concepts and help the students to get good grades as well, as both are important.Teaching students how to attempt the questions in exams.I am quite a friendly person and never get irritated.I am ready to teach a difficult concept 10 times to a student until he understands

Personal Description:
I am currently a third year medical student from the University of Newcastle but I have also graduated in Human Sciences from the University of Durham back in 2007. During the holidays I live in London. I have a wealth of experience working with children and teenagers from being a Christmas grotto host at Harrods to volunteering at Great Ormond Street Hospital for over a year.

My work ethic when I was younger was not as disciplined as it is now and I am aware of the difficulties that students can face when it comes to learning new concepts and hope to help tutees overcome these barriers.

Having applied to grammar school, university and medical school I am aware of all the application processes and interviewing processes.

I am outgoing and to keep active I play hockey for my local club and my university college.

Teaching Experience:

I have helped younger family members to grasp ideas and offer new ways of learning if they were struggling. I have had job roles in the past training new employees up and feel this is a mode of teaching.

I would like to extend my higher knowledge to helping students achieve top grades in their GCSE's and A-levels

Within my current course we have peer to peer teaching which has proved to be a very effective learning tool.

Tutoring Approach:

Different individuals have different learning styles, I for one am more visual. I would try to get an understanding of how the tutee learns best, and encourage them to engage in activities that would help them. For instance, if they are visual learners then get them to draw things out.

Encouragement and patience is of great importance and listening to the needs of the individual.

My role as a tutor would be to guide and encourage the tutee to reach their educational and professional goals.

Personal Description:
I am a biological and medicinal chemistry graduate from the University of Exeter, a top-ten university. My degree focuses upon the design and synthesis of drugs and their interaction within biological systems. As such, I have an in-depth knowledge of biochemistry, organic chemistry and inorganic chemistry. Currently, I am studying for my PhD in biochemistry.

I can explain topics within biology and chemistry simply and am willing to help with anything from understanding topics to coursework. At College, I studied the International Baccalaureate, using both A-level and IB textbooks. Due to this, I can teach both IB and A-level students.

Teaching Experience:

I have experience teaching AQA A-level chemistry and GCSE.

Tutoring Approach:

Very relaxed and easy going. I would give lessons on the syllabus and try to get the student to participate in them by answering questions. We could then revise topics together to make sure everything is learnt and there are no problems in understanding. This would culminate in looking at past papers and going through model answers.

Personal Description:
I am a university graduate with a BSc honours degree in biology and a Masters degree in biomedical science, with specialism in medical microbiology. I have a passion for teaching and wish to encourage students to go into science disciplines and further education. I believe that being a teacher is a highly rewarding job. I have recently worked for the Manchester Metropolitan University where I completed some research for their Centre of Learning & Teaching where I was able to learn more about the different styles of teaching. I am currently working on behalf of a local secondary school as their private science tutor.

Teaching Experience:

Over the past two years I have gained experience from teaching a range of students biology and chemistry. The students had different abilities in the sciences and thus my methods of teaching were adapted to the student's needs. I am currently tutoring at a local school where some students need extra one-to-one help with science.

Tutoring Approach:

My work with art and science has encouraged me to use artistic examples to teach science, particularly biology. I believe that drawings and pictures are key to biology and chemistry and visualising information makes it that much easier to learn. Thus when I teach I prefer to engage the student in different ways and not by simply reading out a piece of information. I additionally use exam board sepcifications when teaching and engage the student in past exam papers so that they may learn how to write a scientific answer using clear english which is essential to pass an exam. I also regularly test students so that I am confident that they understand what I have taught them; and if I feel that a specific topic requires extra attention I will happily focus on it more.

Students are also provided with learning aids such as animated videos so that they may understand speciific biological and chemical concepts easily. This has been popular with my previous students who have been eager to see theoretical science put into action. Such learning aids can also be used outside of tuition lessons which is ideal for when a student is revising alone.

Personal Description:
I am a 24 year old trained primary teacher looking for a new direction in my life. I want to begin supporting children through the knowledge that I have and support them to achieve their own potential.
I live in the Stafford area, having grown up in this area I want to give something back to a county that has given me so much.

Teaching Experience:

Attended university in Wolverhampton where I gained a 2:1 in Primary Teacher Training. I completed four placements during my time at university working in a range of schools, with varying levels of ability and individual needs.
Having graduated, I began teaching in a local Stafford school. I worked in the school for three half terms, subsequently leaving as I felt the full time teaching job wasn't for me at the time.
I am now looking for a way to slowly get back in to teaching and tutoring is where I would like to begin.

Tutoring Approach:

I believe any form of teaching should be engaging for any child to understand and subsequently gain from what they have been shown. Children should always be involved in their own learning, taking control and directing it where they feel they need to gain further knowledge in order to succeed.

Personal Description:
I am currently pursuing PhD in University of Wolverhampton. I have recently finished Masters degree in Molecular biology from the same University with distinction. I am also involved as STEM (Sci, Tech, Engineering and Maths) ambassador which involves interaction with the school students to motivate them to make career in STEM subjects.

Teaching Experience:

I have experiences of teaching students from primary school to University level for few years before I joined University of Wolverhampton for my second masters degree. I have gained experiences of tutoring for around three years in United Kingdom. Presently I am tutoring GCSE science, AS/A level biology and undergraduate/masters level biology.

Tutoring Approach:

I believe in understanding students, identifying their needs and delivering effective tuition based on best possible learning techniques as well. My each hour class includes short written and/or oral revision from previous class and moving to a new class based on how well my student has done in the short revision test. In general, I also assess student's progress with a comprehensive written test with past exam questions in every weeks/classes.

Personal Description:
I am a fourth year medical student currently intercalating in Historical and Political Studies at the University of Exeter. I have spent spent a lot of time in the last year teaching small groups of pre-clinical medical students. I initially did it as part of a university project but I enjoyed it so much that I regularly taught two groups of eight long after the project was over (no mean feat after a day on the wards). I have previously only tutored in fits and starts in an informal manner throughout my academic career (phone calls from nervous parents in the run up to exams) and would look forward to building a good relationship as I have found I can give much more effective tuition as I get to know more about the student.

I believe my main strengths are my clarity of explanation and my calm nature.
My clarity comes from a deep understanding of the sciences that I have studied for many years. I believe that all of the subjects I teach are very simple, and that a good explanation is all it takes to bring a student form a low grade to a high one.
This belief brings a calmness which I also believe is very important to produce effective learning as it is difficult to absorb concepts in a stressed state of mind. By imparting an understanding of the material and ensuring the students know exactly what is required of them in their examinations I am confident I can reduce pre-exam jitters.

** Note, I can only tutor students in Exeter itself. I do not have the means to travel outside of the city on a regualr basis.

Teaching Experience:

As above: Teaching undergraduate medical students in small groups for the last year, informal tutoring throughout my many school years

Tutoring Approach:

I always promote understanding as I believe this improves retention, increases applicability of the information learned and (most importantly) makes the subject much more interesting. I try to keep my lessons tailored to what the student hopes to achieve and to make the lessons interactive as possible via discussion ans short questions (ideally from past exam papers).

1st Year Zoology: First class
2nd Year Zoology: First class
3rd Year Zoology: First class
A-Levels: 3 x A-stars (Biology, Maths and Chemistry)
GCSEs: 7 x A-stars, 2 x As, 1 x B.

2) Read Law at the University of Cambridge, King`s College, for a semester.

3) Undertaking a Masters in Biology next year.

4) After 2 months of tuition my first tutee went up 2 grades from a grade E in January, to a grade C in June, for A-Level Biology. Similar results occurred for my second tutee.

5) I work extremely hard to help people reach their full potential, and find it very satisfying.

About yourself:

Through my achievements I have become a lively, confident young man with a desire to push forward in life. I am friendly and approachable and work well in a group. I think having a good life balance is crucial to success, so I find time to exercise, study and socialise, with all three factors complimenting and improving the others. Study and travel have made me aware of my own capabilities, and that I will only get out of life what I put in.
Travelling to Honduras, Borneo, Italy, America, Peru, Hong Kong and Kenya means I have come across a range of different people and I can communicate confidently, with a breadth of life experience that I can convey to others.
Working for a precision engineering firm and going on a business trip to a semi-conductor exhibition in Taiwan has taught me to be punctual and professional. Engineering, travelling, business trips, exhibitions and coaching show I am not afraid of responsibility.
Taking part in a range of extracurricular activities, from rock climbing and weight-training to international development, has taught me to manage my time efficiently. I find understanding an idea myself, and then helping others to understand that idea, very satisfying. Helping someone to reach their full potential is rewarding for myself and the tutee. My passion for biology, maths and teaching means I can ensure lessons are animated.

Teaching Experience:

I have a consistently strong academic record which can only be acquired through understanding how to excel in examinations and I have confidence in my tutoring ability. I took on my first tutee in April 2013 for two months and she achieved a grade C in A-Level Biology, an improvement of 2 grades compared with her grade E in January. My second tutee made similar improvements.

Previous experience with young people comes from coaching 4-5 years olds at football for a local club when achieving my Bronze Duke of Edinburgh Award; voluntarily teaching piñata making to increase awareness of Sheffield's link with Esteli, Nicaragua; through teaching in Kenya and organising activities at a school during my Borneo World Challenge Expedition. World Challenge described me as 'a capable leader and team member. He has the ability, character and intellect to lead effectively and he certainly delivered this on his second run through.'

Tutoring Approach:

If you're interested in hiring me as a tutor, I am happy to meet with you first so you can determine whether I am the right man for the job. Together we can then determine what specific areas the prospective tutee needs assistance in. Once target areas have been established, and the relevant exam board identified, I will use the syllabus, reference texts, past papers and a range of resources to apply my own knowledge and skills to improve the tutee's grades. I understand that different people learn in different ways, and will use the technique that works best for the tutee. The teaching approach can be personalised for specific individuals, a major advantage of one to one tutoring. The atmosphere will be relaxed so the tutee feels comfortable and we can make the best use of our time. Although a relaxed atmospere, teaching will be structured and interactive. I hope to give the tutee confidence in themself and their abilities. I can provide further advise on revision and exam techniques, as well as ensuring the tutee has sufficient knowledge for exams. I can broaden the tutee's learning experience beyond that in schools with respect to biology if desired. I can tutor at my house, your house or a public space (perhaps a coffee shop or library) - wherever you're most comfortable. I look forward to hearing from you.

Personal Description:
As a scientist I have had extensive experience of teaching in an academic and lab environment, alongside interactive science at festivals and museums. I have always enjoyed teaching and I am passionate about igniting curiosity about science in those whom I teach. I have worked on a professional and voluntary basis with children from primary school age all the way up to Masters degree level.

Science can be a daunting subject and I appreciate the need to build confidence by tailoring explanations to different levels of understanding, and different types of personality.

My own scientific knowledge comes from understanding a topic rather than parrot-fashion memorising, I believe this is the best long-term learning method and therefore I will use this approach where possible with my students by building up from the basics.

I am very supportive of questions as working in the scientific field has taught me that there are no stupid questions and I think that learning is more efficient when a student enjoys what they are being taught. I also like to incorporate every day examples as I believe this can make science topics come alive and become relevant to an individual.

Teaching Experience:

- Private Tuition (2013): Last summer I tutored two year 10 students in GCSE level chemistry, both of which had a notable increase in their grades. One student after only 1 month of tuition made the remarkable achievement of an increase in grades from 34% to 64%.
- Work Experience Weeks (2005-current): I have supervised 16 A-level/undergraduate students for a work experience week. This involves tours of the labs, explanation of the science behind certain experiments and how drug development works (with written materials), as well as supervision of experiments.
- MSc Workshop (2011-2014): I created materials and helped run a workshop in Protein Modelling for the UCL MSc Drug Design course.
- Cancer Research UK (2011): Made a video and helped the Science Communication team create an interactive game to help the public understand how drugs bind into proteins.
- Volunteer Usher at Cheltenham Science Festival (2008-current): In groups I have helped supervised school classes doing experiments such as making a hot air balloon from tissue paper, drawing organs on a t-shirt (primary school), extracting DNA from a strawberry, making paper model DNA and using chemistry modelling equipment (secondary school)
- Cardiff Science Week (2004-2007): Supervised students with various science exhibits such as fishing for insects from a pond (primary school) and making a cell from a balloon and popping it to look at the inside of the cell (secondary school).
- Science Writing (2008-current): Writing articles at Cheltenham Science Festival, for London Science Museum and the Royal Society (for non-scientists and Children) has greatly improved by ability to write materials for tutoring. I have a portfolio if you are interested in this work.

Tutoring Approach:

As well as the approach I discussed above I also provide and create my own teaching materials with visual and interactive aids. I prefer to familiarise myself with the school syllabus so I can tailor my tutoring to the pupil's needs.

For any older pupils I can also offer advice on careers as well as help with CVs/applications to university.

I can also on request do small fun "kitchen" experiments to inspire interest and excitement in science.

Personal Description:
Hi I'm Meghavi and I am currently in my third year at Imperial College London studying BSc Physics. Currently, I am training to become a teacher alongside my Physics degree. I will have a QTS (Qualified Teaching Status) by the end of 2015. I have always been interested in teaching, from my GCSE years, I began helping my friends with their school work. Moving to A level years I started helping out some of the teachers in my school to run after school sessions to help kids with their Homework. I would say I am very patient and will sit there till the concept is clear in their minds. I am not the kind of person who gives up easily so I will do what it takes to make sure an idea or concept is understood. As a person I am very friendly and bubbly. I like to have a good laugh and I'm a good listener.

As far as personal interests go; I love to travel, I love music, movies and Food. I enjoy cooking. I like trying out new things and exploring new places and meeting new people.

Teaching Experience:

My interest in teaching began when I started helping my sister with her school work. I started teaching in 2009. I worked at Kumon (one of UK's largest supplementary education provider) for a year. I then started tutoring AS Students for AS Physics at Lampton School which involved spending my free lessons and after school sessions to help them with any conceptual problems, homework, exam practice or just a recap of any topic in AS Physics. These students felt comfortable coming up to me at any time during or after school to ask any queries they had about the subject. (References Available)

I have helped out in Maths classes and planned my own lessons under the supervision of my teacher. I have also worked as a learning mentor at Lampton School and helped students with any homework or classwork in various subjects.

More recently (2013 - 2014) I have been a tutor for various students; teaching A Level Physics, A Level Maths and Further Maths, GCSE Maths, Primary Maths and GCSE Science (Biology Chemistry and Physics all inc).

Tutoring Approach:

Clearly each student is different, and so the way of teaching each one will be different. However I believe that if the foundation is strong nothing can go wrong. I will first try to ensure that the concept and the base of the subject is strong before we go on to a number of past paper questions and exercises. I believe that the best way to learn is to see how any problem can be tackled, go through the thought process and then apply what you know to the specific problem and solve it.

I will first see what the student finds most difficult and what their weaknesses are and then strive to overcome them. Each student will have their own learning methods, some may learn by understanding the whole concept then going into the exam questions, some want to go through exam questions while they are learning the concept to see how the theory can be applied to the problems. Some may learn visually with experiments or examples whereas others will learn through trial and improvement of their own. I will spend the first session finding out how they like to learn and design a program just right for that individual student.

From previous experiences I believe the key areas students need help in are:
- learning the foundation of the subject
- how to manage time in exams
- how to structure their answers in an exam
- lots and lots of practice
Hopefully once we start tutoring, the students will feel much more confident with the subject and the key to success for any exam is self confidence. I will always be their as a guide, a mentor, a friend to help them through what they find difficult.

Personal Description:
I am a science teacher at a Secondary school in Leicester.
I can tutor in either Loughborough or Leicester in the evenings.

Teaching Experience:

I am a qualified secondary school Science teacher with a history of helping students to achieve outstanding results.

Tutoring Approach:

One to one tuition can be a valuable addition to a students' in school education. By getting to know the student I aim to create a relaxed atmosphere in which the student feels confident to ask questions and improve their subject knowledge. I have an extensive knowledge of current specifications and as a current teacher keep up to date with changes to exams. As well as working to improve the students subject knowledge it is important to spend time working on exam technique and revision strategies. In doing this my students achieve excellent results.

Personal Description:
My name is Oli and I am enthusiastic, kind, 20 year old currently in his 3rd year at the University of Nottingham studying Medicine. I am looking for tutoring work in GCSE science and Medical school applications. I received A*'s in biology, chemistry and maths at GCSE and then A*'s in maths and biology A level with an A in chemistry therefore I am happy to tutor in any of these 3 subjects. I am also willing to tutor in applications for Medicine having been offered interviews to all of the medical schools i applied to and then offers from 3 out of 4 of these interviews.

Teaching Experience:

I have had teaching experience at University as a committee member for a society that teaches school pupils about physical and mental health as well as basic human anatomy.
I also have experience in tutoring local medical applicants for their personal statements and interviews.

Tutoring Approach:

In terms of GCSE tutoring, each pupil is different and i feel like no teaching approach will suit all pupils. However, I believe it is important to start with the foundations and ground work of a subject. Once these principles are understood and mastered you can apply them to the more difficult aspects of the course allowing for a greater and overall understanding of the subject, as opposed to learning the subject in distinct and separate topics. Being able to understand the process of how to generate an answer makes things vastly easier in an exam situation compared to having to remember everything as separate nuggets of information. I would also place an emphasis on guiding the pupil to work things out themselves as opposed to simply dictating information to them as this is a skill they can apply when learning on their own or in an exam. However, I also recognise that some things need to be explained and cannot be worked out on your own.

As for medical school applications, there are a few big things that universities are looking for in an application that many people fail to recognise. It is not a case of listing everything you have done or how you're intelligent you are. In this area your results should speak for themselves. Instead, it is important to show them that you're a human being (not a robot). It's not important that you've done a week's work experience in a hospital; the focus should be on what you got out of it, what you've learned about being doctor etc.
I will also happily run interview practice and help tailor individual and unique answers to questions (that will inevitably crop up) but in a way that doesn't sound forced and rehearsed.

I hope I am the tutor you are looking for and i look forward to hearing from you.
