Each student is different, and I feel it an insult to my students' integrity to tell them how to revise when first meeting them. Through my experience teaching, there is no right way to study, but there are a variety of 'better' ways to make the best grades for each person's potential.

Many students approach me frustrated that they often don't achieve the same calibre as their peers despite the hours they put in. Often it is due to the fact that they aren't their peers and a different approach to revision and homework is required. I believe in working smart before working hard.

Generally my approach is flexible depending on the student, but the objective is to enable you to understand the relevant concepts in your course. Believe first in yourself ,before believing in the tutor taking into account that you got into that class because you have the potential of making it through to the the next. I am a college student studying Medical Science in central London.

Teaching Experience:

I have had and currently have many students. One of my students was doing maths GCSE and needed to pass his Maths urgently. Even though he didn't have an interest in the subject, we were able to work together in a short period of time to achieve a good enough grade. I also have 2 other students that learn Turkish from scratch. Their father is Turkish and so speaks Turkish but their mother doesn't speak Turkish so it was very tricky for them to pick up the language. Now they can say many things in Turkish and can recite the Turkish alphabet, read Turkish, write in Turkish and speak good enough Turkish to get them around in turkey despite only being 7 and 9 years of age. I have had a further 3 students that I taught English, Maths and Science along with entrance exams into secondary school such as Non Verbal Reasoning and Verbal Reasoning. All of my students have had a lot of success in their education and had they needed me further would have definitely asked to be tutored by me again.

Tutoring Approach:

I would prefer if students were not put under pressure whilst learning (especially younger children!) but can be strict where necessary. It's often easier teaching someone when the atmosphere is relaxed and when the child is not under any pressure but then again different students work well in different atmospheres. Obviously teaching methods can be discused with parents and I will be happy to conform to any requirements that are needed of me.

I also believe that teaching requires for tutors to cater for each individual depending on their needs. Whether they are visual, auditorial, or oral learners..

I am very good with building a good relationship with students to make them feel at ease and help them learn easier. I am exceptionally good with communicating with small children but at the same time can talk to older students such as GCSE students as if they were an adult. This helps them learn in a more smooth and effective way as they enjoy the time spent with their tutor.

I will ensure my student understand the subject topic in depth by creating scenario's, diagrams, examples that matches the theoretical concept being discussed. I will keep prompting the student and using different learning approaches to engage the student to enhance assimilation of the learning material. As an experienced private tutor I have in possession numerous scientific diagrams, lecture notes, and power point presentation which I use in my tutoring. During and after tutoring students receive materials which continues to assist them in their studies. I use laptops, tablets, videos and diagrams to enhance and maximize teaching experience.

I have also worked with Local Government Chemist (LGC) the biggest private scientific firm in Europe with several outlets in the world. I have experienced hands on and progressive scientific developments and several analytically scientific progress. These include detection of cocaine, heroin and other drugs in body fluids such as urine, saliva and blood samples.

I demonstrate Scientific experiment and practical alongside teachers.My style of teaching is relating theory to practice.The advantage of this style of teaching is it unifies theory to practice, and hence, consolidating and building scientific confidence.

Personal Description:
I am a tri-lingual (fluent in German and Spanish) King's College London PhD neuroscientist student with a desire to pass on my knowledge to others. I have previously tutored in person and received great feedback with students receiving mostly A*'s and A's. I believe that interacting and stimulation is the key to excellent tutoring. Tutoring Approach:

No doubt the most rewarding aspect is that when you start tutoring a person, who start out struggling, gradually develop an interest and understanding. It's truly inspiring to see how they can engage with a subject when a slightly different perspective is offered. I am quite an interactive tutor and put a lot into pre planning all my lessons and so far I have had massive success with my students. Just recently a girl who was predicted B's and C's, which is by no means bad, achieved 3 A*'s in all the subjects I tutored her in. I will be tutoring her for A levels as well and will hopefully try and help her achieve her dream of getting into medical school and becoming a doctor.

I am very enthusiastic and believe exam practice is extremely important because even if you have the knowledge without the actual exam practice often it is hard to achieve that A or A*.

Personal Description:
Hi,
My name is Andrew. I am a PhD student, living in Exeter. My PhD is in Clinical Veterinary Science with the University of Bristol and Rothamsted Research. As an undergraduate I studied Biology with Applied Environmental Science at Keele University and achieved a 1st Class BSc (Hons). I have studied/worked at four universities in three different countries and have also done research for two research organisations. I have a broad range of experience having conducted Environmental Impact Assessments, used by Staffordshire County Council, worked with Orangutans in Malaysia, and studied wheat production in China. My current work focuses upon parasitic infections within farm animals. My breadth of experience means I have a knowledge in the small, such as genetics and molecular biology, up to large ecosystem biology. I have a real passion for the sciences and I feel that comes across and get's passed on to others.

Teaching Experience:

I have demonstrated in undergraduate labs for the University of Bristol Veterinary, teaching practical and theoretical work. On numerous occasions Keele University have asked me to come back or to contact younger students to advise them, an opportunity I always relish. Through my non-academic life I have been a Scout Leader and Lifeguard and am used to teaching and educating individuals from all walks of life.

Tutoring Approach:

It is important that students understand and not simply learn facts. I aim to make students reach the answers themselves by taking them through a logical process. Not only does this allow them to understand why answers are as they are, but it also develops a skill that is extremely important at higher levels such as A-levels and degrees. Whilst biological systems are often extremely complex I find it is normally possible to break them down and explain them in a simple manner before building upon details afterwards. For example: the process of DNA replication can be compared to that of a zip and enzyme binding can be compared to a lock and key.

My essay and report writing have always gained me high marks and, especially at degree level, I am very aware of what is asked of students and what gains access to the higher marks.
