Personal Description:
I graduated with a first class degree in engineering from Oxford in 2012. I have a great passion for motor racing and sports cars; I have built a 'Lotus 7' style kitcar and did an internship at the McLaren Formula 1 team as a design engineer. I also love music and played the guitar in a band at university.

Teaching Experience:

I'm an experienced tutor in maths and science from primary through to A-Level. Every student is different and I particularly enjoy tailoring lessons to each individual.

Tutoring Approach:

There are two key aspects to achieving in academia: learning techniques to pass exams and having a genuine interest in the subject. I believe that I can help with both.

By ensuring that I am well prepared for each lesson, I aim to simplify parts of the syllabus that the student is finding difficult and if necessary, teach in a number of different ways to aid understanding. I can help produce a revision plan for those students who are taking exams to ensure that all the material is covered in time.

The subjects I teach are fascinating, they just need to be taught in the right way. The school curriculum can appear a little dull at times but I hope that with the experience I have gained in a number of interesting environments, I can bring the subject to life in a way that sparks enthusiasm for the material.

Personal Description:
I am a family man, married 10 years to my wife Mel, with 3 beautiful daughters. I have been tutoring in the South Wales area since 1992 after graduating in Chemical Engineering with 2nd (Hons) Degree from University of Glamorgan. My hobbies include wordwide travel, Triathlon, Motorcycles/Cars and anything to do with science and maths.

Teaching Experience:

After graduating in Summer 1992 with an Honours Degree in Chemical & Process Engineering from the University of Glamorgan, I set up my tutoring business to assist parents & pupils with examination preparation, who felt they were being let down by the educational system.

I worked as an examiner for the WJEC from 1997 to 2002 marking Maths papers.

I currently teach on a 1-2-1 basis or in small groups, usually {but not exclusively} in the privacy of the pupils home, in the following subjects:-

* Key stages 1 to 4 {GCSE} in Mathematics, English, Chemistry, Biology, Physics, Engineering, Design and Technology, Electronics.

* 'A' Levels {GCE} in Mathematics, Chemistry, Biology, Physics

* BTEC Engineering, Nursing & Health Care courses, Paramedics, Sports Science.

* Degrees in Engineering - Chemical, Mechanical, Civil, Electrical, Aerospace, and Nursing.

* UKCAT Entrance exams to Medicine and Dental school.

Tutoring Approach:

I thoroughly prepare students for examinations using past paper practise to build up their self confidence and develop the ability to read and digest each exam question.

During the interim term time, I conduct 'student led' lessons, where each of my pupils is able to tell me what they want to learn; whether it be new material, homework assistance or revision of old topics.

I structure my lessons this way because I teach many different students of varying abilities, who are studying at different levels and using different exam boards e.g. WJEC, OCR, AQA, EDEXCEL.

Personal Description:
I work part-time as a Science Teaching assistant in a Secondary school, previously I worked as a teaching assistant and have many years experience in special educational needs. I have worked in the education sector in this capacity since 1997.
I only tutor on the Isle of Wight unless my travel to the mainland is paid for on top of my tutor fees. I hold a degree in Science and Mathematics in the Education sector.

Teaching Experience:

I worked on a one-to-one basis for ten years, in co-operation with the teaching staff, within the classroom, helping the children to whom I was assigned to understand what was required of them, to master the skills they needed to progress on to the next stage of their learning journey.
I am experienced in working alone with children who need extra help to reach their goals.
I am experienced in raising the standards of attaniment in classes I have been responsible for both at the higher levels and lower levels of competancy.
I am experienced at Key Stages 3&4 but am able to tutor for Key Stages 2 in Mathematics.
I am experienced in working with children with special educational needs.

Tutoring Approach:

I adopt the Do, Talk and Record framework and encourage my students to talk to me about their knowledge, as I believe the large part of reinforcing learning is to explain to others the content of the lesson.
I like to make my lessons as practical and therefore as much fun as possible and use visual aids where ever I can.

Personal Description:
I am a current A-level Chemistry and Biology examiner and moderator and author of A level Biology exam papers who has worked in bioscience research and more recently in life science marketing and academic conference management in chemistry and biochemistry. I am a Chartered Chemist, Fellow of the Royal Society of Chemistry and committee member of the Protein & Peptide Science Group of the Royal Society of Chemistry.

Teaching Experience:

I have several years' experience in one-to-one teaching, starting with giving undergraduate tutorials at the University of Oxford. I have been offering private tuition in A-level Chemistry and Biology for 4 years.

I am able to tailor my teaching style to the individual needs of the student and to make best use of online and other electronic resources to help students to an understanding of the subject.

Tutoring Approach:

I start by identifying the particular needs of the student: do they have problems with understanding some or all of the subject; are there any areas of weakness that need to be strengthened; are there issues with exam technique that need to be addressed?

Even well taught students who have a good grasp of the subject can fail to achieve their full potential through poor exam technique. My earlier experience as a Chief Examiner, responsible for setting and marking A level exams, means that I have a detailed knowledge of the exam system and how students need to approach exam papers. My current examining experience has given me an insight into how to help students avoid unnecessary loss of marks by developing clear and rigorous approaches to their answers and to develop strategies to approach individual questions so as to maximise their performance.

Personal Description:
18/03 - Please note that on UK Tutors as both student and tutor to pay a fee before addresses can be exchanged. I have had quite a few people think that I profit from this fee but I really do not, I too have to pay a fee between 10-20.

In 2012, I completed my undergraduate degree in Biochemistry and Genetics from the University of Nottingham and in 2015, I completed my masters in Psychology. I have been an enthusiastic learner since a young age and hope that through my lessons, my students will also develop a passion and interest in the subjects I teach. I am looking to hopefully teach A-level students that require help to get a better grade. I am also happy to teach younger students.

I have taught Biology and Chemistry up to A-level standards across the most popular exam boards since graduating in 2012. As a result, I have an endless number of exam questions, worksheets and booklets to give to students from day one of teaching. I believe in learning little over a long period of time and working out a strong revision technique. Whilst, I wish all my students can achieve A/A* grades, hard work, motivation and revision are the key tools to achieve high grades, a tutor should only be a tool in your learning, not someone you rely on completely. Whilst I understand that my prices are high, I believe I am also fair. I don`t mind if students stay for longer than an hour if needed and am always happy to reply to emails for homework help.

In terms of future careers, I will be completing my PGCE in Secondary School Chemistry in the coming academic year and would like to eventually become an educational psychologist.

Since graduating in September 2015, I work as a teaching assistant in the Milton Keynes area, in particular in special needs schools, which means I am generally free after 3pm to teach students.

With regard to my CRB check, I was checked by Stoke Mandeville Hospital in 2013.

Teaching Experience:

I have taught in total, over 20 students studying GCSE and A-level Biology/Chemistry/Maths on either AQA or OCR exam boards.

I teach Sunday to Thursday from 4pm to 9pm

Please note, I am happy to offer the first lesson free of charge for long term students, if it is only one lesson you need, then please make this known to me. The first hour is generally a "get to know me" session and finding out what areas the student wants to work on.

Tutoring Approach:

After teaching solidly since November 2012, I have been able to further develop my teaching skills. To begin, I start with revision techniques, worksheets and make new, very detailed, class/revision notes with my students. After developing a solid understanding, I begin with exam questions as I have been able to collect a solid amount of questions (exam and school questions). Every lesson, I print out worksheets and notes for my students as well as give them homework. Essentially, what I offer are school lessons that are more detailed and focused than what they receive in school. Through these methods, I am able to thoroughly assess a student's abilities, increase them and hopefully better their grades. However, I stress, students must work hard themselves to achieve good grades.

Parents often ask me about discount, I am happy to discuss this for long-term students and 2 hours lessons

Personal Description:
As a scientist I have had extensive experience of teaching in an academic and lab environment, alongside interactive science at festivals and museums. I have always enjoyed teaching and I am passionate about igniting curiosity about science in those whom I teach. I have worked on a professional and voluntary basis with children from primary school age all the way up to Masters degree level.

Science can be a daunting subject and I appreciate the need to build confidence by tailoring explanations to different levels of understanding, and different types of personality.

My own scientific knowledge comes from understanding a topic rather than parrot-fashion memorising, I believe this is the best long-term learning method and therefore I will use this approach where possible with my students by building up from the basics.

I am very supportive of questions as working in the scientific field has taught me that there are no stupid questions and I think that learning is more efficient when a student enjoys what they are being taught. I also like to incorporate every day examples as I believe this can make science topics come alive and become relevant to an individual.

Teaching Experience:

GCSE Tuition:
- 2015: This year I worked with a mature student who needed to retake Biology GCSE to gain a C+ grade for university entry - after an intensive 2 months she gained an A-grade
- 2014: In 2014 I tutored two year 10 students in GCSE level chemistry, both of which had a notable increase in their grades. One student after only 1 month of tuition made the remarkable achievement of an increase in grades from 34% to 64%.

Work Experience Students:
- Work Experience Weeks (2005-current): I have supervised 16 A-level/undergraduate students for a work experience week. This involves tours of the labs, explanation of the science behind certain experiments and how drug development works (with written materials), as well as supervision of experiments.

Higher Education Teaching:
- Summer Students (2015): I have supervised two summer students on 8 week Wellcome Trust projects teaching them molecular biology techniques such as PCR/mutagenesis, running DNA gels, transforming E.coli (all to an independant level) and expressing and purifying protein.
- MSc Workshop (2011-2014): I created materials and helped run a workshop in Protein Modelling for the UCL MSc Drug Design course.

Science Communication and Demos:
- Volunteer Usher at Cheltenham Science Festival (2008-current): In groups I have helped supervised school classes doing experiments such as making a hot air balloon from tissue paper, drawing organs on a t-shirt (primary school), extracting DNA from a strawberry, making paper model DNA and using chemistry modelling equipment (secondary school)
- Cancer Research UK (2011): Made a video and helped the Science Communication team create an interactive game to help the public understand how drugs bind into proteins.
- Cardiff Science Week (2004-2007): Supervised students with various science exhibits such as fishing for insects from a pond (primary school) and making a cell from a balloon and popping it to look at the inside of the cell (secondary school).
- Science Writing (2008-current): Writing articles at Cheltenham Science Festival, for London Science Museum and the Royal Society (for non-scientists and Children) has greatly improved by ability to write materials for tutoring. I have a portfolio if you are interested in this work.

Tutoring Approach:

As well as the approach I discussed above I also provide and create my own teaching materials with visual and interactive aids. I prefer to familiarise myself with the school syllabus so I can tailor my tutoring to the pupil's needs.

For any older pupils I can also offer advice on careers as well as help with CVs/applications to university.

I can also on request do small fun "kitchen" experiments to inspire interest and excitement in science.

Personal Description:
I hold a PhD from Imperial College London and have a strong academic track record having previously led cutting-edge industrial and academic research in science and statistics. My scientific research has been published extensively in international peer-reviewed journals and my work has been cited almost 2000 times within the scientific literature. Whilst I am now a full time tutor, I also remain research active. I serve on the Editorial Boards of four international journals and still co-author research publications. This means my knowledge is not purely book-based, but founded on an extensive background as a successful female scientist.

I enjoy working with students of varying ages and abilities and take pride in encouraging students to reach their full potential. I am patient and understanding in my approach, which I will adapt to meet the strengths and needs of individual learners. I have an up-to- date knowledge of the national curriculum, enabling me to teach biology, chemistry, physics and maths at GCSE level and above.

I have years of experience as a tenured University Lecturer where I taught at both undergraduate and postgraduate level. I have supervised numerous PhD and MRes students to successful completion of their thesis. Having interviewed numerous UCAS candidates for degree places, I can also offer advice to hone your personal statement.

Teaching Experience:

I am the immediate past Vice-President of The Tutor's Association (2015-2016), the professional body representing the tuition industry. As a member of the Tutors Association, I have also signed up to their code of ethics, code of conduct and my qualifications, references, experience and DBS have been externally checked and verified.

I was a Lecturer at the University of Nottingham for nearly a decade where I also sat on the University examination board for the award of the undergraduate pharmacy degree (MPharm). I am now a full-time personal tutor with five years experience and over 100 GB of teaching resources which I use to support my teaching.

I also have recent school-based teaching experience at secondary level. I am familiar with all the major examination boards (AQA, OCR, EdExcel, IB). I have worked with children who are gifted and talented and with special educational needs such as Asperger Syndrome, autism, ADHD, partial hearing and dyslexia. Having lived and worked abroad for a number of years, I also have experience of working with students for whom English is an additional language.

Tutoring Approach:

I believe in taking a very individual approach to tutoring, adapting approaches and resources to fit the needs of the individual. Prior to commencing tuition, we will agree tuition goals and I will work with these to develop a personalized scheme of learning. During tuition I will monitor student progress and keep records of this so that learning and attainment can be tracked and approaches can be continually adapted to meet the developing needs of the learner. However, most importantly of all, I believe learning should be fun. I am friendly and approachable and I work hard to ensure that students enjoy having tuition, which ultimately will maximise the progress they make.

A 5% discount is offered to all students paying monthly in advance.

Personal Description:
I am a divorcee with two teenagers and a rather loopy dog (all housetrained!) I discovered the joys of teaching as a parent helper at my children's Infant and Junior schools which inspired me to qualify as a Primary School teacher. Unfortunately I have developed arthritis in my knee which is why I am looking to continue my teaching in a non-school environment. My favourite academic subject is literacy because I love reading books by a wide range of authors, e.g. Austin and Dickens to J K Rowling and Jacqueline Wilson. I love creative crafts e.g. card making, cross stitch, scrapbooking etc. Music plays a big part in my life, including listening and making. I'm a bit of a diva on the recorder and can play the full range from Sopranino to Bass. I love to sing.

Teaching Experience:

I am a qualified Primary School Teacher who has worked in a number of schools in Essex in permanent, temporary and supply posts across both KS1 and KS2 over the last four years. My PGCE was obtained through School Centred Initial Teacher Training (which comprised spending a lot of time working directly with children). Prior to that I was a parent helper and governor for 5 years at my children's Infant and Junior Schools. I was Music Leader at my last school for two years and ran the choir. I enjoy teaching all primary subjects. I am keen to also support adults in improving their maths and literacy skills.

Tutoring Approach:

I am familiar with the Primary Curriculum. Hands on learning is great fun and I enjoy practical activities. I love working on a one to one basis as you can build a rapport and really personalise the learning. I enjoy topic work as it gives the learning a context and shows that subjects do not stand alone without any connections/overlap with each other (just like life). I am keen to support both adults and children in mastering literacy and numeracy skills because they are fundamental life skills. Personalised learning means that any gaps can be filled so that an individual has a firm foundation on which to build.

Personal Description:
I am currently a 4th year Medical student at St George's University of London.
My first Degree was in Theatre Studies at Middlesex University, where I graduated in 2005 with 2.1 BA(Hons).
I am a patient and encouraging Biology and Chemistry tutor in Wimbledon with a strong passion for science and medicine.
Having achieved a grade of 594/600 (99%) in my chemistry A-level and 587/600 (98%) in my biology A-level I am aware of what it takes to get great grades.
I have also consistently gained top marks at medical school with each year I have been in the top 7.5% (Distinction status)

Teaching Experience:

I have several years experience teaching a wide range of students from secondary school age to private mature students. I have tutored students in both Chemistry and Biology GCSE, AS and A-level on a one-to one basis as well as in small group settings. In addition to this I taught English in Japan for over 3 years.

Tutoring Approach:

While there is no substitute for hard work,my aim as a tutor is to try and create a fun, encouraging environment with a clear study path that allows students to enjoy what they are studying.
I personally believe that students have a greater chance of success when they are guided by a tutor that enjoys teaching and is passionate about the subject.

At the first meeting I will have a discussion with the parents and student regarding which areas need attention so that I am able to plan my sessions. I also have a strong emphasis on use of past paper questions as well as exam board styled answers as this ensures that you get maximum points for the exam you are sitting.

Personal Description:
I am Pharmacist. I have masters in Pharmaceutical sciences from the University of Sunderland. I have taught primary school students to University students as a private tutor. I am able to make learning real to the individual by explaining the concept of different topics in a way that is practical and understandable. This method of teaching makes it easier for the student to remember more.

Teaching Experience:

I have taught various age groups. Primary, GCSE and A-Levels. (Edexcel/OCR/AQA)

Tutoring Approach:

I have learnt over the years that students learn in different ways. I try to identify how best the student likes and learn best and apply it accordingly. However I have achieved success the most by making the student understand the rational behind the solution for any challenge.

Personal Description:
I am currently working for a research organisation where I co-ordinate and manage projects for specific clinical trials. I have completed my degree at Heriot Watt University in Biological Sciences. In my final year I specialised in molecular biology and microbiology.

I have in-depth knowledge of biological process and studied a wide range of biological topics including but not limited to: Parasite protozoa and human disease, molecular toxicology, food biotechnology, microbial pathogenesis, molecular biology, genomics and proteomics, protein sorting in eukaryotes, immunology, cell biology, plant biology, animal biology, and the rapid detection of bacteria.
I also undertook more broader courses, in my first year; Mathematics, Chemistry, Psychology, human biology and more.

For my final year at university I undertook a research project which looked at the effects of phytochemicals on pathogenic and non-pathogenic GIT bacteria. I have also worked on a research project with William Grants and sons where micro-algae were used to remove ammonia from a waste effluent to comply with SEPA regulation.

I attained a very high 2:1 honors degree in Biology.
I also have good A-Levels in:

Mathematics
Biology
Sport and Physical education

Teaching Experience:

I am a keen sports player, and have played competitively for my county. As a more experienced team member I have given coaching and advice in regards to technique, position, tactics and fitness. I have also trained colleagues at work in using computer systems and imparting study related information.

As a fourth year student I was given the opportunity to attend laboratory practical sessions to assist the lecturer in teaching new students. I taught them how to work within a laboratory environment. This included sterile techniques, microscopy and staining, molecular separation, and DNA extraction techniques.

Tutoring Approach:

Initially, I would like to have a meeting with the student, either face to face, over the phone, or via online communication. I wouldn't charge for the initial contact as this will help me to produce a learning structure which is catered to improving areas which the student is struggling on, or wishes to improve upon. After an agreed time period, we would reflect on our learning, and will assess their progress. I will achieve this by creating short term and long term goals which both the student and tutor agree upon.

Personal Description:
I am academic and very organised. I have my own family and I am family orientated with high morals. I believe that achievement and success comes from hard work, dedication and perseverence. My ethos in life is to always perform the best that I can and that rewards are earned in life from persistence. I am very friendly and have a strong knowledge base. I keep track of my students progress to deliver a more personal and tailored service. Bringing out the potential from my students is what satisfies me and having them learn and develop as my student is my motivating factor. I respect the wishes of my students and I always aim to fulfill their request and deliver them a very high quality level of tuition. I have always been the type of person who does not settle for bronze if gold is within my capability. And I have the urge to make my students succeed in all aspects of their education.

Teaching Experience:

I have been tutoring for about 5 years and tend to get returning students. I have worked with students from diverse ethnic backgrounds, from different areas all over the UK. I travel out to students homes and I tutor online and from my own home. I can meet students in public places such libraries or cafes according to their preference and with under 18s I always consult the parents or guardians of the student regarding their progress and requirements. I provide a coursework service and also the more traditional classroom type sessions. I provide 1 to 1 tuition and group classes. Best to get in touch and discuss your needs.

Tutoring Approach:

I am very flexible with my students. If you have any personal requests I will always make them my priority. Many students take me on for years and many tell their peers about me. I get alot of block bookings and I my style is very tailored to my students, for example I can provide revision classes before exams or catch up work over summer. I take group bookings and you get your first hour with me for free. I can travel all around London. I have students from a wide range of abilities and ages. I have all of the resources and I have worked to timetables or certain topics that students wish to cover. I always give a more comprehensive session if thats what the student wants. Best thing to do is give me a ring or email me. If you like my tutoring technique then we can go from there.

Personal Description:
Currently i run a small business in which i deliver foot health care services to the community. Recently i graduated from the University of Glasgow with a Masters in Biotechnology (2015) and i have a BSc (Hons) in Natural Sciences from the Open University (2013)

Teaching Experience:

While studying for my degrees I tutored high school students in Biology/Human Biology, with some input from myself and hard work from them they achieved great results and got into the university and course of their choice. Have also been tutoring my own son who struggles with maths skills. While employed by the NHS i worked with semi- pro and amateur athletes who often got injured, part of the treatment plan was to explain why certain exercises aggravated their condition and provide sources for alternatives and give further health education when needed, this mentor/teaching experience was tailored to each individual need.

Tutoring Approach:

Each lesson is tailored to the needs of the individual, will ask questions of the tutee to ensure they have grasped the concept being taught. In subsequent lessons will have a brief revision time to again check that the concepts have been fully understood.
